This comment was selected by Mod KL from the post “Foreign Policy Diary – Turkey Seeks to Become New Ottoman Empire”. The moderator believes it gives an additional brief overview of Turkey’s real ambitions. It reveals more pieces of the puzzle, regarding Turkey’s true intentions by projecting its power well beyond its borders – yet again.
Two more pieces of the puzzle, not mentioned in the video, regarding Turkey’s European ambitions:
First, Turkey has agreed in building a new naval base in Albania, effectively having a say in the Adriatic and the Ionian Seas and the Strait of Otranto, ie threatening the countries of Italy, Greece, Montenegro and Croatia and projecting its power well beyond its borders.
Second, EU’s and especially Germany’s mad insistence in castrating the Greek Armed Forces by reducing its budget in the last couple of years, via the Troika imposed austerity, by at least 50%, leads to a very dangerous situation (the Greek Armed Forces being out of ammo and spare parts) and a big power void in the Balkans that no ‘European Army’ (as Schäuble called for yesterday) can replace. Turkey now plans and moves slowly to controlling and annexing parts of the Aegean Sea eastern of the 25th meridian east and any oil fields that lay on the sea bed, from north (Thassos Island) to the south (Leviathan Plot, south of Cyprus). The three very recent illegal Turkish NOTAMs claiming major Greek islands and national waters and airspace as stages for Turkish Navy maneuvers, all year round in 2016, along with the proclamation earlier this year that “there are numerous Aegean islands under Greek occupation” is a sign of a very clear and present danger for Greece.
Moreover, Turkey’s ambition is also to control and annex Thrace using the Turkic and Muslim minorities (ie Pomaks) there as pretext for invasion (see the example of Operation Sledgehammer – aka the Balyoz Harekâti scandal, which involved an invasion across the River Evros in 2003, up until the recent Turkish Army acquirement of numerous specialized large bridge laying tanks and the relevant Turkish 1st Army maneuvers in crossing the same river, the natural border between the two countries, in the summer of 2015).
These developments signify that Turkey is planning to expand well into the Balkans, recapturing lands that once belonged to the Ottoman Empire, as part of a new Turkic Empire. The only thing blocking and delaying its ‘narrow window of opportunity’ as it was called in the video, is the Russian involvement in Syria and the Kurdish uprising inside the country.
The EU and Germany on the other hand do all they can to show their total weakness by pleading with Erdoğan regarding the migrants/refuges flooding Europe and trying to buy him off, and at the same time, creating total chaos in the Southern Balkans by systematically destroying and liquidating a former stability factor in the area, namely the country of Greece – its infrastructure, its economy, its military and Coast Guard and its people. All this to save their own banks and scare off the Podemos in Spain and off course, to help some of their own will get insanely rich by this mega-heist. Take note: should Turkey fails to establish a Turkmen-jihadi state inside Syria, but somehow manages to suppress the PKK inside Turkey, Greece is the next battleground in the next couple of years!
Armenia made the right decision to join the EEU and CSTO.
Now imagine if the US/CIA coup succeeded in Armenia in the 1990’s swinging it to EU accession and correlate it to the rise of neo-Ottomanism in Turkey.
Would the US and EU come to the defense of Armenia under attack by Turkey? Of course not. They would shed crocodile tears while planning pipelines across Armenian corpses.
In the early 1990’s Turkey massed its army on the Armenian border clearly preparing to invade but was stopped then by Russia while the US and Europe did nothing just like right before Turkey invaded Cyprus. They always will back up Turkey.
By bringing chaos to the MENA the US has unleashed retrograde forces in Turkey that threaten the entire region.
Your map does make it look like Turkey is the center of the ME universe.
Can the center hold? Not when the center goes underground and is everywhere.
Being the center means you’re the bull’s eye of the target. You can’t do much with arrows in your one good eye.
The Empire has learned that money is everywhere and everywhere needed. Even Russia wants to sit at the big boys’ table of the currencies’ breadbasket breakfast and dares not yet to disentangle from her central bank. Who knows? Maybe Putin loves celebrities like Elvira.
Antony was a a great warrior like Putin but got entangled with Cleopatra and sank like the Titanic. If we can’t tell a whore from a war we’ll sleep with the fishes after those delicious dishes.
Come on, Putin, be a Caesar now and afterwards live like a Czar.
The long years of turkish occupation of arab areas which was called as muslim Kalifa did not leave any good memories and after the end of this Turkish Khilafa, arabs thought that they will be free but with Sikes-Picot divisions by the west, which did not bring any good for the developpment of all newly created arab countries.
Further more arab populations suffered the creation of izreal and since then the same suffering still exist. Further more and, as per today news, Saoudia and Turkish Ardoughan are planing to create a joint venture announcing eternal problems in the arab countries who seek real freedom. It is big dirty game of religion and the Muslim Brotherhood created by the Turkish colonization in every arab country for use when needed .
Something must be done to stop this joint venture which forecast a huge religious war particularly in Syriaand Iraq and ….Iran
Please stop using all caps -its like shouting. They have been corrected this one time.ModTR
Thank you
Turkey is the easiest power for Russia to nullify.
It may be part of NATO, but the alliance will not join it in aggression.
Turkey is alone. Erdogan is in search of allies who would join in war with him against Russia.
He is basing troops in Qatar, but Qatar can’t and won’t help.
He is trying to find some solidarity with Israel on some issues (gas, most likely). But Israel is not going to fight Russia.
Turkey can work as funding source, training location and targeting office for sending terrorists into action in Russia lands, Chinese lands, Afghanistan and Pakistan, as well as SE Asia.
But it will lose its own sovereignty and status if it is so led in this direction any further.
Russia’s move into Syria was to kill terrorists, defeat ISIS, save Assad, preserve Russian base for naval operations and to contain Turkey and stop its involvement in Islamic terror.
With the Kurds available as a useful force (proxy), Russia can easily disrupt Erdogan’s machinations.
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-12-29/turkish-greek-jets-get-dogfight-over-mediterranean
But that wasn’t the only hypocrisy apparent in Turkey’s brazen move. According to the University of Thessaly (whose statistics are based on the Greek military’s tally), there were 2,244 violations of Greece’s airspace by Turkish jets in 2014 alone, representing an increase of some 250% from 2013. Here’s a look at the graphic:

…..”Greece is the next battleground in the next couple of years!”
i’d say serbia too.
turkish prime minister was in serbia earlier today intending to ask serbia to extend its’ influence and request from russia to “mend its’ relations with turky”.. while at the same time the delegation planned but failed to visit (due ro lucky thick fog) muslim populated area of south west serbia, namely novi pazar and sjenica, where he wanted to meet with local representatives so to “consolidate good trade relations there”. it is hard to resist assuming this was a threat in not so veiled disguise: you either cooperate with our expectations ( not sure what that could be exactly), or we could instigate a “little rebelion” in you southern regions.
no dohbt, turky continues to plot while EU is fast asleep.
@ lb
I am afraid that is true, Serbia will be immediate next. Yours is a correct reading of the Turkish PM visit.
Concerning the EU, it is not so much asleep as it is ill-intentioned to an extreme (and blinded by it). Whatever hurts Serbs they think is good – especially if it hurts Russian geopolitical interests. As for their historic hatred of Serbs … it was well summarised in the speech of (the western-installed-and-adored) Hitler following the Belgrade events of 27 March 1941.
And that Greeks, Serbs and Russians are all Orthodox should ring a big bell.

Deja-vu all over again.
Remember when Saddam found that loophole in the Iraq oil embargo?
http://www.888webtoday.com/joyce8.html
A switch by OPEC from the dollar to the euro, I realized, would immediately strike a blow against the U.S., lowering the dollar on world currency markets and placing inflationary pressure on our economy.
Not 24 hours later, (from OCT 25/2000) I read an article online which truly caught my eye: Iraq was asking the U.N. for permission to make all of its food-for-oil sales denominated in euros instead of dollars. My jaw nearly hit the floor. The idea of how to hit us where it really counts had occurred to Baghdad, too.
The United States, quite incredibly, did not object to this proposal. The U.N. soon approved it. This was followed a month and a half later by a pledge from Saddam to the Palestinians of one billion euros.
——————————————————————————————–
Iran says it wants India to pay outstanding oil dues in euros, stressing that it needs the euros to pay the installments for the loans it has received for its infrastructure projects.
Hossein Yaqoubi-Miab, the director for international affairs department of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), said that preparations have already been made by Tehran to receive euro payments from India as soon as the sanctions are lifted.

Wait! Isn’t Greece part of NATO? And isn’t NATO pledged to defend any NATO country attacked? Won’t this put them into a quandary, then? So, this won’t happen until Greece gets a revolutionary government which will break from the EU allowing them to ask Russia for help which won’t happen quite yet. And the Kurds are not going to “go quietly” at all into any sort of historical oblivion without on H-ll of a fight. So Turkey will have to divide its forces. And, finally, Russia is not going to permit it. period. even if the new Greek government does not ask for help.
But, still mischief will be attempted.
Haha, as I said: Erdogan is indeed an all-out criminal, scum, and swine for all the world to see. In his case, I agree a reference to Hitler is quite appropriate, but not as a sheer, unimaginative insult. The fact of the matter is that Erdogan’s machinations and devious plotting testify convincingly to his most perceptive political instincts. Erdogan, like Hitler before him, has the advantage of not belonging to the Officer Corps whose political understanding often gets blurred by self-adulation and contempt of diplomacy. Hitler and Erdogan stand out as two cunning — extremely reactionary — politicians who know what lying, contemptible scum is running the ‘liberal’ West. Hitler knew they feared and hated the USSR infinitely more than they did Nazi Germany and its industrial Oligarchs. Hence he could safely assume the West wouldn’t take action against Nazi expansionism in Eastern Europe which, in turn, explains the total arrogance and scorn pertaining to Nazi Germany’s official announcements and proclamations.
Erdogan has understood all this just as profoundly as Hitler did 80 years ago. Russia is the real enemy that haunts the West; not ISIS, not Saudi Arabia, or political Islam generally. Tsipras and the other invertebrates in the EU are great fun to watch as they practise ‘European values’ while Turkey screws them right in the spirit of Victoria Nuland.
» Hitler knew they [lying, contemptible scum … running the ‘liberal’ West] feared and hated the USSR infinitely more than they did Nazi Germany and its industrial Oligarchs. «
Did they? How come the scum was allied with the Soviet Union?
I think the scum don’t work by fear and hate. I think the scum manipulated both Russia and Germany successfully for a while but then lost control of either when they planned to have them clash and destroy each other.
It looks as if the fact that the clash did occur despite apparent loss of control (Molotov Berlin Nov 1940 => Barbarossa) had more to do with Stalin’s (and you will say: Hitler’s) plans for imperial expansion.
But so much is still kept secret, including by Russia … so we may never know.
In your assessment of Hitler you seem unaware of Nikolai Starikov’s excellent Episodes on Oriental Review.
Your link didn’t highlight anything on the subject matter at all. Check your URLs.
In the late 1930s, Hitler’s generals made several secret overtures to their Anglo kith and kin, especially as tensions mounted between the Reich and Czechoslovakia. To the great dismay of the Nazi top brass, the British imperialists had greater faith in the Reich than the generals themselves. Hitler might have had his suspicions about the possibility of suchlike overtures, but on the basis of his quite solid grasp of bourgeois politics, he gambled with confidence and succeeded. The Molotov-Ribbentrop pact in the summer of 1939 was the ultimate defeat of the West’s (minus Nazi Germany) designs in pre-war Europe.
Analogously, Sultan Erdogan knows exactly what the ruling circles in the West do fear and what not. Charlatans like Axel-Springer’s CEO Mathias Döpfner are his ultimate laughing stock alongside the politicians fully committed to spreading Islamophobia. Putin’s Russia, by contrast, will cause Sultan Erdogan a whole lot of trouble, just like Stalin’s USSR spoiled the Führer’s career.
Bottom line: Russophobia and Islamophobia are for lesser creatures.
Brilliant analysis as usual. China’s entry into the war to save Syria with Russia and Iran changes everything methinks. Changes the whole European Union too.
Beijing entering the Syrian conflit by backing up with its aircraft carrier will not happen.
Bejing does not feel confident enough for its own front lawn/swimming pool.
They will wait until past 2020.
Greece must save itself! HELP!
Turkey doesn’t seek to be anything but happy….
The Turkish army has no intention of invading anyone and would do it very very reluctantly.
The only one who wants that is the wannabe Sultan Erdogan and his plate is way fuller that he can handle right now…
The Kurds are around 1/4 – 1/5th of the country.
Can you imagine for a second that he can deal with a civil war that large inside Turkey
AND have an expansionist strategy abroad ?
Not only that, but that expansion would be against the will of
– the US/Europe (Greece is a NATO member after all)
– Russia who would happily send as much weapons/ammunition as they want to the Turkish
Kurds just to piss Erdogan and make him pay for the plane he shot down,
– all of the Shia countries (Syria, Irak and mostly Iran)
– all of the Sunni countries; who wants the reappearance of the old Ottoman ruler ???
– Israel certainly for the same reasons…
Quatar could maybe try to back it up with a little money, but Saudis would hate to have a new Sunni power right above their head so even that’s a no no…
Do you think _anyone_ would want a powerful Turkey with such a fool leading it ???
So don’t you worry, these are dreams all right,
but those of a very lonely and soon to be finished stupid jerk hated by half of his own people…
put up in August, in Turk, with ‘hood theme jingo overdubs—looks like not all the homies there are in luv with him.

Greeks know who the enemy is, and take action:
http://www.tovima.gr/en/article/?aid=764755
Turkish political leaders wish to absorb Greece . Lately, Greece has been under terrible political and military pressure from the Zionist American IMF, and from NATO-Turkey. Although Greece has a much smaller Military than Turkey, they have consistently resisted Turkish incursions over their territory in the Aegean. Lord Byron would be proud of them.
If war should break out, it is to be hoped that the Greek leaders would have the good sense to ask Russia for help. Additionally, most of the European people would instinctively support Greece, and the Zionist American NATO would be weakened.

Great details on the Turkish plans to recapture some of their former glory.
I’d argue these events show a high probability of just being gamed reactions.
Turkey is moving to capture terriorities as Europe retreats. The U.S. gains a tool against the Syrian state. Europe is pinned into submission by the refugee-based shock and awe.
A complex shuffling of hands results in continued pressure on the Assad regime, backed by Russian interests, and a tightening of the U.S. grip on Europe.
Someone did their math.
History repeats itself. People seem to be completely oblivious of the fact that the Islamic plague spread to Europe abetted by the Western Europe’s betrayal of Christianity, which started with the diversion of the Crusades against the Orthodox Christians – 1204 and then against the rest of the Orthodox (Russia). The West (starting with the scandal of “the impious alliance”, or “the sacrilegious union of the Lily and the Crescent”, the alliance established in 1536 between the king of France Francis I and the Turkish sultan of the Ottoman Empire Suleiman the Magnificent to fight against the Holy Empire) sabotaged all Christian reactions against the spread of the plague. The West made all the efforts to keep alive the Ottoman Empire (collaborating in the meantime with it in the exploitation of the conquered peoples).
It made all the efforts to dechristianize the West, weakening its capacity of resistance by “tolerance” of evil (even turning things on their heads – extolling the virtues, beauty, tolerance of Islam in contrast with the ugliness, bloodthirstiness, oppressiveness of Christianity).
This West was always allied with the Ottoman Empire and jumped to its rescue whenever it was threatened by the revolt of Christians and by the “Russian aggression”. The disintegration of the Ottoman Empire was an undesired effect of WWI. Turkey is a necessary pawn in the ongoing war against Russia and against the Orthodox Church. The delusions of Erdogan and Davutoglu are encouraged by the West as they did encourage the Sultans all along the time.
The islamization of Europe is a desired goal.

Quote from comment but perfectly right”You need to understand why the rouble is weakening. It is mainly because some companies need to pay dividends and taxes abroad, so they need to get hold of dollars anyway. Yes, the oil is important, but it hasn’t been the main driver the last couple of days. You see this every year, and with many other currencies as well. Just remember when japanese companies need to repatriate revenues from overseas, and they have to buy yen.”
I’m sure we will have A Mercouris comments on this soon.
Voila….his real goal as Western puppet:”Kudrin also reiterated his longtime criticism of high military spending, noting that while the air campaign in Syria is likely to be relatively low cost, procurement of new weapons is a major burden on the budget.”
Even worse…
”He also questioned the government’s use of economic sanctions, such as those imposed against Turkey after the downing of a Russian bomber along the Syrian border in November.”

It’s not surprising that the Turks are hated and feared by all their neighbours, following centuries of tyranny and repeated massacres of their Christian and Arab subject peoples. There is only one way to deal with them – utterly defeat them militarily. The only country that is able and willing to do this is Russia – and Russia will have to do it alone as the EU is totally under NATO(USA).
A few well placed nuclear tipped cruise missiles would completely destroy Turkey’s military in a few hours. Europe will be too shit scared to face off Russia, despite yank pressure. Russia must do this or else it will have to face a resurgent Ottoman empire very soon.
Because of the high pay and perks, Hezbollah fighters volunteer to fight n Syria even after their 3 months tour and training are over. Lots and lots of analysis and news today.. Too much to actually post… Zaid actually has a very very very long winded post on syria and the region.. And lots of other information in the comment sections. Also we have no information on how IS has disappeared thousands of fighters leaving behind only suicide squads for holding action. Where are these people??? This is like air america on steroids..
No large number of IS resistance meeting any offensives. This entire Iraqi/Syria thing looks like a large scale criminal enterprise on a global scale and everyone’s involved using smoke and mirrors. The deeper you look the murkier it gets. But it all comes down to only this, looting the planet by deception and deceit.. Using NGO’s like IMF and wall street just takes too long..

Where «evaporation» 2,000 and «emir» and administrative belonging to «Daash» … after the liberation of gray?
Iraqi troops entered, the author of a counter-terrorism and the Iraqi army and federal police forces and the families of the Anbar city of Ramadi, did not find within only a few of the organization «Islamic state bodies» (Daash) after it was preliminary information, and before the start of the gray restoration process, confirm the presence of some 2,000 and «emir» and administrative belonging to «Daash» within the city.
Scenario «evaporation» fighters «Daash» had already got himself in the Iraqi Sinjar town west of Mosul (fall of the Iraqi capital Daash – near the Syrian border) when the crowd head of the Kurdistan province Kurdish – Iraq, Massoud Barzani, about 7,500 fighters to break into the city, which was occupied by «Daash» where there are thousands of fighters, to enter in hours and find some individuals within it and a few of the bodies. Where is everybody suddenly gone?
Says a senior source in the leadership of the Iraqi government «opinion» that «the US forces operating in Iraq within the rooms, security and military operations are determined by the zero hour and day of the attack and combat formations of Iraqi attackers. If Iraq wanted to use air forces to defeat (Daash), he must bow to the American command. For this, it is not unlikely for the coordination of US – Turkish to communicate with (Daash) and inform him of the military intentions to inflict the least number of casualties and to give way to his fighters to withdraw to elsewhere in the direction of the Syrian border – Iraqi. This is what our weapons monitoring air and electronic surveillance of organizing convoys to move in large numbers under the eyes of America also without exposure. For this reason, the United States has imposed on political decision-makers in Iraq to prevent the participation of (the popular crowd) in the process of liberalization of Anbar and the United States got what you want because no one in the current government dared to exposure to the decisions ».
And reveals the source «opinion» that «America has asked the ruling political forces to change the anti-terrorism and intelligence and security services of the army of Interior and the Ministry of the commander, also blessed the appointment of the Secretary General of the Council of Ministers because it wants a crew homogeneous with its policy rest him and be in the event of tune with the presence of these (US forces) on the ground in Iraq again after paid the former prime minister Nuri al-Maliki for a withdrawal from Mesopotamia, and the purpose of all of this – as the Americans say – curb Iran’s authority in Iraq and directed its influence from the corridors of the decision of the Iraqi political and military especially, after Iran deliberately highlighting commander Jerusalem Corps Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani in various areas in Iraq and Syria to show it is that control the land, while the truth is that the prime minister Haider al-Abadi on a non-intimate relationship never with the Iranian military commander (Soleimani) for that since the early hours of the ascent Abadi, the seat of government, the latter dealt with Soleimani like a nightmare caused him difficult weeks and months to his belief – any Abadi – that his rule is in danger and that Soleimani wants to replace it and return with the complicity of several al-Maliki, Iraqi forces were overwhelmed under the wishes of Iran. »
And it explains the source said «Iran controls the various military organizations fighting within the popular crowd and there on the battlefield in Iraq and in Syria, too, but their influence was not enough to impose any diktat on the prime minister Haider al-Abadi, who chose the path of (Uncle Sam) US instead choose rail velayat-e faqih, and for this it is – any Abadi – before warning the United States not to allow Russia to enter Iraq, unlike what he did Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, despite the obvious difference of the Kremlin clearly in his policy in Syria and supports the government and prevents the division of Syria, while in Iraq there talk seriously about American will to divide Iraq into three regions, or at least splitting the Kurdish region from Iraq, otherwise why Turkish troops entered stationed east of Mosul and toned world with the Kurds, but for the very same Jacob can lead – as President of the French foreign intelligence he said – to redraw map of the Middle East again? And (Daash) only tool or football manipulated by everyone, although buried her head in the sand under the defense of Islam, the Sunnis and the title ».
The source says «opinion» that «(Daash) did not enter the city, but came out of them completely destroyed and the city, this is what happened in Baiji, as well as in Tikrit, and here is Anbar exposed mass destruction, but the (Daash) was to have sufficient time and opportunity to pick up souvenir pictures inside gray to show the effects of the devastation caused by the bombing to the presence of his troops in the city. »

English version of the report above…
Iraqi Army, the Counter Terrorism units, the Federal police, and Anbar tribes entered the city of Ramadi that was occupied by the self-proclaimed “Islamic State” group (ISIS) for several months. To their biggest surprise, only few bodies of the terrorist group were found when intelligence gathering by the U.S led coalition and the Iraqi intelligence service confirmed the presence of around 2000 fighters in the city until days before the final assault. Six ISIS were arrested while trying to flee Ramadi among the 442 civilians who left the city one day before the final assault on the city center.
The same phenomena of “ISIS evaporation” was registered in Sinjar when 7500 Kurds, supported by the U.S Air Force, occupied the key northern Iraqi city, finding a very small number of ISIS fighters in it.
So where did all these ISIS fighters go too?
A high-ranking source within the Iraqi government told me “the US forces operating in Iraq within the military operation room in Baghdad are the one who define the units and the time (day and hour) of attack against ISIS. If we want to benefit from an Air Force to defeat the terrorist group, we should bow to the American command. It is not unlikely for a possible American – Turkish coordination to communicate with “ISIS” and give a free way out to fighters to withdraw in the direction of the Syrian – Iraqi borders. That’s the information our drones collected in the last few days prior the attack of Ramadi. Our signal and Human Intelligence informed the Americans and us about ISIS movement of troops. We were not allowed to engage against these and no one in the government can contradict the Americans for the moment. The U.S ordered Baghdad to keep al-Hashd al-Sha’bi (PMUs) away from the battlefield of Anbar perhaps to ensure a free passage to ISIS and to reduce the Iranian influence and credit of victories in Iraq”.
“America has asked decision makers in Baghdad to change the heads of anti-terrorism, intelligence and security services of the army and Interior Ministry. Moreover, the Secretary General of the Council of Minister was also kind of suggested by the Americans and in consequences he has been appointed to this position. The U.S wants a homogeneous team that is friendly to its policy and presence of these (US forces) on the ground in Iraq. The hostile Era – created by the former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki that led to a withdrawal of the forces from Mesopotamia – is over and the policy adopted at the moment consists in reducing the influence of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani over few Iraqi armed groups. What is contributing to the success of such a policy is the fact that the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi is in a bad terms with Soleimani. Since the start, PM Abadi believed that Soleimani was planning to remove him from power, supporting al-Maliki and promoting other choices to replace the actual Premier”, said the source.
The source concluded:”Iran controls various military organisations fighting within the Popular Mobilisation Units strongly present in the battlefield in Iraq and in Syria. Such an influence convinced al-Abadi to choose the path that leads to ” Uncle Sam ” instead of choosing the one of Welayat-el- faqih. This is why Abadi rejected, following an explicit American demand, to reject any Russia military assistance in the air, in Iraq, unlike the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The Iraqi Prime Ministre is aware of the possibility that the U.S would like to see 3 Iraqi cantons, one for the Kurds, one for the Sunni and another one for the Shia. The Americans are also supporting the Turkish presence in Iraq, to meet the say of the French Intelligence Service director who said: The Middle East will never be the same as before. What is becoming more clear now that ISIS is a toy used by players for their agenda and plans to reshuffle the map of the Middle East”.

A fine line between journalistic analysis and the “Islamic State” group’ propaganda
For example: ISIS propaganda machine likes to portray institution’s as part of the constructions of “its” states. In effect it is only using institutions that were already in place before ISIS control by keeping employees in place, in Iraq and Syria, and appointing its own trusted key people on top. A method long used by colonialists! When analysts spread documents saying “ISIS has many institutions and is State-like”, they are just been fooled by the group, contributing in showing to thousands of naive ISIS fans the-so-called-grandeur of ISIS. Aren’t these analysts naively becoming free of charge translators for ISIS?
Another example, ISIS’ booklet about “managing slavery according to the Islamic Sharia”: it refers back to the same study of Sheikh Ahmad Ibin Hanbal of the 9th century’s, ISIS main reference in the topic as for many other religious issues. If one is interested in acquiring in-depth understanding of the ideology of non-state violent extremist religious organisations, basic theological knowledge is required. No magic here. ISIS is not reinventing the wheel. It is blindly applying middle ages principles!
In short, it is indispensable that awareness and clear modus vivendi are defined to counter the ISIS propaganda machine. By sticking to facts, knowledgeable facts, it is possible to show that ISIS grandeur is mere fantasy.

1) The Turkish naval base in Albania is a very serious issue , but this is the first time i have heard of it. Is this verified?
2) The Greek army is suffering from lack of funding , but the most crucial element of it the Hellenic navy together with the Air force is still in a very good position to defend the Aegean.
Actually despite the crisis I think that any attempt from Turkey to lay claim in any parts of the Aegean will lead to the implementation of international law ,with Greece expanding its territorial waters to the 12 N.miles limit in accordance with international regulations.
3) The Muslim minority is influenced by Turkey though the Pomaks are from a different ethnic background and are not .
4) In Eastern Thrace (west for the Turks) the Hellenic army has a huge advantage against any Turk incursion due to terrain factors. Furthermore East Turk Thrace holds a grans prize for Russia , e.g control of the Bosporus .
In conclusion the only way that Turkey might attempt to destabilize Greece can be through militant migrants that remain here(in Greece) after Europe has absorbed all the ones they need, together with Albanian extremists (UCK type) that might be used in our border areas.
Kind regards and wishes everybody all the best for the new year.

Turkey’s talk of a no-fly-zone in Syria was indeed scary. In 2014.
2015 has been a rude awakening for the fan boys of Greater Turkey.
Erdogan’s most grandiose project for 2016, incidentally, is called ‘damage control’.

I’m thinking his main project will be finding a safe bolt hole. :D

How to Crush Erdoğan’s Expansionism
by Joshua Tartakovsky
http://www.counterpunch.org/2015/12/30/how-to-crush-erdogans-expansionism/
One question, for both, Calchas, and Saker:
What do you think about the game that Syrian Kurds are playing?
In one hand, it is truth that they fought against ISIS, that Ocalan (PKK; which is in the same historical line as Syrian-Kurd PYD) has been in histoic good terms with Hafez al Assad and Syria. They have been Marxist-Leninist and now the seem that they are semi-Anarchists.
But in the other hand, now they enter in an alliance with some “opposition” groups in the Syrian Democratic Forces (the use the greenwhite-black flag). According to Syrian writer Thierry Meysan (Voltaire Net), there is a Zionist-turkish-Franch lan to divide Syrian, and now the PYD, which has “switched sides” is with this plan, to create an “independent” Kurdistan in Syria and to replace the Turkish Kurds there, and thus, the Kurdish “headache” of the Turkish elites dissappears.
Some European post-68 “leftists” (Soros coopted “left”, not real left) have been hailing the Kurds, as the “real revolutionaries” or “real resistance” in SSsyria (an excuse for the classical “no-neither” position of the Soros-made “lleft”: “No NATO, nor Milosevic”, “no Bush, nor Sadam”, “No Obama, nor Chavvez”, and now “no West-ISIS, nor Asad; but Kurds!”. That has not helped Kurds form my point of view?)
SDF is now in an offenssive against Raqqa with Russian support. So what happens here? Has been ISIS used to eaken Syrrian and SAA and then their territories to be handed a “more presentable” proxy (and Russia is aiding them, because has no another exit to defeat ISIS), or are Kurds real fighters and Russia is aiding a “sovereign” agent that will engagee in a seriou negotiation with Assad after the war is over?
What is your opinion?
Greets!
Rt running news line tonight…..EU commissioner says no eu accession for Turkey this decade…..and probably not the next…….Turkey acquits 5 suspected of smuggling sarin gas to Syria
Everything changes when Erdogan is gone. The Hegemon and NATO are greatly diminished militarily without Turkey. They will work to remove Erdogan and then rehab the nation into a fully vested vassal state.
They desperately want to keep Turkey out of the Eurasian development.
That huge army is a big client for weapons and half the strength of any NATO combat against the supposed war with Russia.
¨Ουδέν κακόν αμιγές καλού¨ …. ¨None evil pure good¨ if I am translating correct the old Hellenic saying …. by the time the Turks shot down the Russian bomber, the civilized-judicious
world is analyzing the Turkish behavior to their neighbors …. I am glad that there is an open discussion by now, about the Turkish aggression and threats to their neighbors …. as a pragmatist and a military personnel I can understand the significant of this event for the promotion of my countries rights …. as an active army Officer and a devoted orthodox Christian I feel sad for the loss of the life of Major Sergei Rumyantsev, honor and glory to the dead ….. by the time I read the book of the Turkish M.P. Ahmet Davutoğlu ¨The strategic depth. The international position of Turkey¨ at the first translation in 2002, apart of laughing my guts of with all the antisense gaps of mister Davutoglu logic, i was considering that this people are going to make the huge mistake by the end of this decade and we have to be ready to take an advantage of it ….. and the opportunity has come, Turkey is surrounded with threats all over the borders and inside …. arrogance is not an advantage …..
farewell to all …. have a good year and God be with you ….
