Tomorrow Crimeans will make a basic and clear choice. The choice will not be whether to remain part of Banderastan or not, the choice will be whether to become de-facto independent and accept a figleaf of Ukrainian sovereignty over Crimea, or to totally break-off from the “Ukrainian experiment” and return to Russia.
“On March 16th we will chose: either or“ |
All the members of the UNSC except Russia (vetoed) and China (abstained) seem to think that it is absolutely unacceptable to refuse to join a Nazi Banderastan for the people who had to bear 80% of the weight of ridding the world from the Third Reich. One could say that by that vote these countries also made their own choice: Russia freed the West from the Nazis, yet the West prefers to Nazis to the Russians.
Hitler, this first proponent of a European Union, would be proud of his “western” successors.
The Saker
>> Hitler, this first proponent of a European Union, would be proud of his “western” successors. >>
Exactly, since the West was his exclusive source of inspiration to begin with. In short, Nazi Germany sought to emulate successful Anglo-American imperialism centered on land-grabbing, lawlessness, enslavement, war, and racist genocide but proved unequal to the task since the targeted Untermenschen would not have it.
Touching, by the way, how these cute present-day Bandera worshippers forever keep assuring the entire galaxy that their idol fought against the Germans just as staunchly as against the Russians. Well, it might had been easier to believe in those fairy-tales were it not for our contemporary Banderistas’ sucking up to Merkel. To them, Russia and Germany evoke VERY different emotions in the depths of their, ahem, “souls”, mind you.
American money always liked the Nazi.
May the Crimeans choose wisely. The difference between Zio-Western hegemony and true autonomy is clear by now. Bless you friend Saker, I from Pakistan stand with you and the Crimean-Russian people 100%.
“Russia freed to West…”

Greetings from Singapore:
To me the result of the referendum is clear. The issue here is: Will Russia accept the result and act promptly, integrating Crimea in some form to Russia or ( as a possible result of the last Kerry/Lavrov meeting) Russia might delay/postpone an integration (pending some formalities) to make it look as a lengthy process, to debilitate the sanctions advocates in the West.
Hitler, this first proponent of a European Union, would be proud of his “western” successors

Yes and so would Joseph Goebbels with all the BS from the so-called liberal corp. owned media.

MOSCOW, March 15, 23:35 /ITAR-TASS/. A Proton-M carrier rocket with two communications satellites on board installed on a launch pad at Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, will be launched on Sunday, March 16, the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) said.
The liftoff is scheduled for 03:08 March 16, Roscosmos said on Saturday, March 15.
The carrier rocket and ground equipment underwent pre-launch checks and the rocket was filled with fuel.
Express AT-1 and Express AT-2 satellites were made by the Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems in cooperation with the French company Alenia Space for Space Communications under the Russian Federal Space Programme for 2006-2015.
Now, I’m not saying this hadn’t been planned for a long time. And that last minute substitutions can’t be “accidentally” done. But if you want (or need) to make your opponents check their hole cards, in this type of high stakes behind the scenes case of subtle threats, a coincidental launch like this turns on my paranoia antennae.
It’s just that the timing of this really, really makes me wonder. But I do have a twisted mind. :)
Hi Saker
I am absolutely sick to death of the way the west portrays ww2!
The western front, the western front.
phooey and baloney
It was all about the eastern front
all the time
“for the people who had to bear 80% of the weight of ridding the world from the Third Reich”
That is why the West hates Russia
because they did rid the world of the Third Reich.
Because Russia ended the war on the European continent once and for all and Hitler could not proceed on his way.
And the comment about the eu
that’s right folks it was Hitler who wanted an EU
And it was the west that fulfilled the dream! Or nightmare
Which looks like a god dam nightmare!
I know you have asked for abstention from this type of talk so I do apologize for this
but goodness gracious!
the reason history repeats is because we don’t know any real history and we don’t as a group made up of individuals try to find out any real history
I recall the first time I read about the eastern front, the brutality of the battles between Russia and Germany
and then the horrendous treatment visited upon the Russians by the Germans I was shocked.
I never had a clue- not from my dumbed down education at my frankfurt school….
story for another day
just look up John Taylor Gatto
anyway……

Same as you :)

With all due respect to the host, I must point out that Hitler, while he certainly did want a “European Union”, most likely did not want the one that we have now, i.e. gay pride parades, massive third world immigration, rampant economic disfunction, suppression of any national or racial pride etc…
Saker, can’t add a word to what you and other commenters have said. Just know that we’re waiting, and praying.
While elections in Ukraine are pending, the infighting will be kept sub rosa.
Once the May elections are over, then the knives will be out between IMF funded “protesters” and the various right wing groups. It will become violent, perhaps egged on by subterfuge from Russia. Simultaneously, the drive for Russian enclaves to break free will intensify.
What remains to be seen is whether Putin will do the smart thing and delay formalization of the unification of the Crimea, at least until May. If he takes them immediately, it means he isn’t playing games and will press the nuclear reset button if his back is to the wall.
From the traditionalist’s perspective, the trajectory of the modern world is not a good one, and starting over in the stone age is not unthinkable.
Wouldn’t it be better if the West would just stop stirring the pot?
@Saker
> Hitler, this first proponent of a European Union, would be proud of his “western” successors.
Would you expand a bit? What would Hitler be proud of here?
I find it sad that except China, who also did not vote against the resolution, but which is in line with their (laudable) policy of non-interference in other peoples’ business, all 13 other members of the UNSC voted in favor of the resolution. Here’s the list:
France
United Kingdom
United States
Argentina (2014)
Australia (2014)
Chad (2015)
Chile (2015)
Jordan (2015)
Lithuania (2015)
Luxembourg (2014)
Nigeria (2015)
Republic of Korea (2014)
Rwanda (2014)
I’m especially saddened to see Argentina amongst the deniers of the Crimean people’s right to decide their own future.
All other countries, as far as I’m aware of, are either totally in the Western boat, or close to it. Not sure about Chile these days.
I’d be interested in a similar vote in the General Assembly… After all, most of the countries in there are opposed to “The International Community”‘s imposition of sanctions on Iran.
In any event, this is testament to who’s in charge of the relevant part of world opinion. (Hint: It’s not the Saker. Not yet.)
Honk
With all due respect Saker the equation of Ukrainian nationalism with Nazism does you no honor.
Just because some Ukrainian nationalists are right wing extremists (I deliberately avoid the use of manipulative words “Nazi” or “neo-Nazi”) doesn’t make them all so, or even most of them.
Also, in case it needs to be said, there was plenty of Ukrainian blood spilled to defeat Nazi Germany, alongside those of Russians and the many other nationalities that composed the former USSR.
That they died in defence of a regime that history does not recognize as a material improvement on National Socialism is its own separate tragedy.
Well, tomorrow is for sure going to be interesting.
I think the point Penny made (“the reason history repeats is because we don’t know any real history and we don’t as a group made up of individuals try to find out any real history”) is immensely important, and also the reason why this blog and others are so important.
Every time I discover someone like you, Saker, who tries to shed light into the minds of the hoards of people shrouded in darkness, a little bit of the weight seems to fall off of me that is fear of the future.
Stay strong and honest.
Sincerely, Lizard from Germany
@Honk:Would you expand a bit? What would Hitler be proud of here?
What I mean is that the EU today hates Russia and Russians as much as the Europe of the 1930-1945 and as much as he did. But this is hardly to his fault/credit as western Europe has hated Russia and the Russians pretty much since the Middle Ages.
@Lexington: With all due respect Saker the equation of Ukrainian nationalism with Nazism does you no honor.
I disagree. There is not such thing as “Ukrainian nationalism” in the abstract. It is a combination of russophobic Latin Christianity and equally russophobic National-Socialism. I know this nationalism very very well, I have studied ad nauseam during the Cold War, I have spoken many times with its proponents, listen to their radio broadcasts on RFE/RL, read their books, seen their videos, and I can tell you that it has zero positive content. It it formed of little else but totally hysterical and racist hatred for everything Russian and a combination of really hilarious myths such as:
*the Ukrs are an ancient people which populated the Black Sea and souther Russia since prehistoric times and gave birth to modern civilization
* Mary the Mother of God was Ukrainian as was Jesus (they were thus not Jews).
* The Ukrs founded the ancient city of Troy
* The Ukrs actually come from the planet venus
etc etc etc etc
Again – I know these guys *personally*, I have met and debated with them many times, I can only honestly say that the only folks out there in the same league are the Croatian Ustasha and the Taliban.
Now if that does me no honor, then I don’t need being honored. I say the truth the way I see it and if that is a problem for you – tough. There is always Time Magazine or Newsweek for the “correct” version of history.

I would rather said that those country are too afraid of empire ire. Who would like to confront the empire and get in a situation like Venezuela or Syria, or worst, like Iraq?
For me the only votes that really count in UNSC are those of USA, Russia and China. Who would not remember France pathetic figure after Obama decide to transfer the decision of bombing Syria to Senate. Hollande was left high and dry with his warmonger posture.
Man the countries that were allowed as temporary members in the UNSC would not dare to go against the consensus of the west as this would be very bad for them. As you can see even China is hesistant to vocally back Russia here so they’re more or less alone besides of course Kyrgystan/Belarus but they are not major players. Even if these countries disagree in principle it would be political suicide for them to against the grain and the risk wouldn’t be worth it as even if Argentina had voted against it would have changed nothing.
Russia already vetoed and thus the resolution cannot pass as they are one of the permeneant members. Therefore the whole vote was a symbolic charade to begin with, as of course the US knew Russia would veto, meant to show Russia they are alone.
@Saker
> Hitler [..] hated Russia
Did he really? Or did he just not give a shit about Russians, probably considering them “uncivilized” and thus undeserving of his consideration when expanding east?
For all we know he was all for expanding east and ruthlessly getting rid of everyone in the way, including civilians. But that’s not the same as saying he hated the Russians (and therefore wanted to get rid of them).
I’m not trying to split hairs, but wondering if he you have any hint that killing Russians was an end, and not just a means.

If you start from the premise that Russia is self evidently always acting in good faith out of motives unsullied by self interest I can see how it might appear that way.
On the other hand if you’re Ukrainian it might seem that the Russian Orthodox church has been a prime enabler of Russian Europhobia and in legitimizing the Russian Empire’s (including it’s Soviet incarnation) dominance of non Russian nationalities.
And for the record, I didn’t get that from reading Time or Newsweek – which I gave up on somewhere in the early 90s. Fortunately I have a pretty descent historical education to fall back on.
Now if that does me no honor, then I don’t need being honored. I say the truth the way I see it and if that is a problem for you – tough
It’s not a problem for me. I respect your point of view even though in this case I don’t completely agree with it.
Hi, Saker,
Hope you could find interesting two videos here http://aftershock.su/?q=node/216079, showing people of Donetsk Region and Lugansk Region blocking advance of junta troops in direction of Crimea.
Best Regards,

If Crimea votes to secede from Ukraine and join Russia, what would happen if Ukraine cuts off its electricity, gas and water? Can Russia fill the void quickly enough? Do you think Putin will make a deal with the West to not annex Crimea in exchange for Ukraine not joining NATO? Wouldn’t that leave Crimea alone and vulnerable?
@Anonymous:I would rather said that those country are too afraid of empire ire. Who would like to confront the empire and get in a situation like Venezuela or Syria, or worst, like Iraq?
You are absolutely correct. The Empire is *really* frightened and mad because it’s rulers are beginning to realize the magnitude of the consequences of their failed Ukrainian policy. So they are putting immense pressure on everybody to play along on a misguided hope that this will change that which has now become inevitable.
As for China, they cannot ever vote for anything which might weaken national sovereignty because of Tibet and their eastern provinces. So their words as neutral. Their actual actions, and the coverage in the local media in China is 100% behind Russia, if only because they know that they are next in line.
@Lexington:

b) Fortunately I have a pretty descent historical education to fall back on.
Thesis ‘a’ is only possible if you have a terrible historical education, especially the goody notion of a “Russian Orthodox Europhobia”, especially under the Soviets. As for non-Russian nationalities, not a single one disappeared under Russian rule. Not one. How does that compare with the Anglo record, say, in the USA?
I understand your desire to try to articulate some “other” point of view than the Russian one, but in this case facts and history are not supportive of that hence your “mirroring” to the other side you end up with a paragraph densely packed with inanities. Yes, there can be two sides to any story. But not always and here you really picked the wrong case.

FOX News is spending 100% of their time, hour after hour, on the Malaysian Airliner. Would it be too tinfoil-hattish of me to suspect this “big” story of having been “created” by a US government that doesn’t want its conservative war hawks to see much of the publicity their “allies” in Ukraine are getting? At least not until a war breaks out and that becomes irrelevant?
@anonymous: Hitler [..] hated Russia – Did he really? For all we know he was all for expanding east and ruthlessly getting rid of everyone in the way, including civilians. Well, he considered Russian as subhumans (see ‘Untermensch’:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Untermensch). He did think that they could make useful and strong slaves though, so he did not want to kill them if they were ignorant. But he had no use for educated Russians. His idea was simple: use the land of Russia to colonize it with German “culture-carriers” and to use the local Russian population has a slave force. Interestingly, Hitler’s view of Russians was very similar to the Talmudic view of the Gentiles. Even though “goyim” means “nations” it would be quite correct to translate the Hebrew word “goy” by the German “Untermensch”.
Such are the ironies of history…

Operation Paperclip has almost prevailed.
Best wishes to the people of Crimea.

@Saker:
Not sure where you got your education in Russian history but where I got mine the tension between the embrace of Westernizing influences and the desire to assert a distinctive Russian identity founded in large part on the community of the Russian Orthodox church is a major theme. I probably don’t have to tell you that this is a major theme in the writings of, for example, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
I’m quite convinced that the push by the Yankee Reich for a fascist puppet-state in Ukraine is linked to the terrorist attacks on China. The butchery in Kunming reeks of Yankee death-lust. Show me any brutal fascist or jihadist cannibal, and I’ll show you someone either directly on the US pay-roll, or one of ‘our sons-of-bitches’ like so many other genocidal thugs, acting for Uncle Satan with copious looted funds sitting in New York banks. Apparently the collapse of the neo-liberal capitalist global Gulag, plus fossil fuel depletion plus ecological collapse has the Fourth Reich desperate to end any global resistance to their eternal Empire ‘under God’, before it’s too late.
If the Russians, Iranians, Chinese and the BRICS (US subversion in Brazil will hit fever-pitch in Brazil during the World Cup)get together, then this fascism might yet be beaten. It is quite plain, as it has long been to my jaded eyes at least, that WW2 did not end in 1945, and the fascist banner, which is the capitalist banner, was passed to the USA. And never forget that the ruling US elite and tens of millions of US citizens positively lust for a global nuclear war, to usher in the ‘End Times’ and Armageddon, against ‘Gog and Magog’, long identified by these evil imbeciles as Russia and China.
One of these days, Saker, if you can ever find the time, It would be great if you can give us a primer on nuclear game theory. As it existed during the cold war compared to now, and how it would work with a third country, China, possibly having a potent second strike capability.
Such things as how decisions are made along each rung of the escalation ladder, how a conventional altercation goes to tactical nuclear to strategic. How the two sides might try to negotiate a ceasefire. And under what conditions might a country be tempted to launch an all out first strike.
Also, theories about “winnable” nuclear wars. I think it was Curtis LeMay who said regarding a war with Russia “I don’t want to hear about casualties. If at the end of the war there’s one Russian and two Americans, we win!”
Anyway, I know it’s a lot to ask, but it would be really great reading and, sadly, may become all too relevant in today’s world.
@Saker:
Re the troops in Crimea:
I know you think the troops in unmarked uniforms are a mix of Russian and Crimean troops, but have you seen this video? Even the JCS admits that they have no evidence that these are Russian troops:
http://www.c-span.org/video/?c4486159/dempsey-admits-us-evidence-information-military-forces-crimea-russian-troops
“Earlier in the day, Dempsey added, he had spoken by phone with his Russian counterpart, Gen. Valery Gerasimov, who denied that the military men spotted throughout Crimea were Russian military forces.
He said Gerasimov told him “that they were not regular forces; they were well-trained militia forces responding to threats to ethnic Russians in the Crimea.”
[…]
“However, Dempsey said, there is not concrete evidence to support his belief that they are Russian military forces in unmarked uniforms.
“We don’t have any evidence as yet,” he said. “

> they are putting immense pressure on everybody to play along
Is this conjecture (and extrapolation would strongly hint in the pressure direction) or is there any evidence yet?
Rather than showing Arg the stick, they might be dangling the carrot in form of undoing the taper for the time being.
That said, the US might itself run into issues with its currency, as a record amount of treasuries was removed from custody at the Federal Reserve. The business insider tries to shrug it off doing various calculations, which look a bit like smoke and mirror however. Their explanation:
> The most likely explanation for the drop in custody holdings is that Russia moved its U.S. Treasuries outside of the U.S., so that if and when the West levies financial sanctions against it as a result of escalating military tension in Ukraine, Russia will still be able to access its money.
I wonder however, if the US sanctions Russia in a way that affects their Treasury holdings, will they then not go all the way to “deactivate” those Treasuries in one form or another?
Either Russia
a) thinks the US won’t mess with trade and possession of Treasuries (as that would send a dangerous signal to a way more significant and dangerous holder: China), therefore it doesn’t alter her Treasuries strategy
b) thinks the US won’t mess with Treasuries, but wants to send a signal to the US that they really mean it, when they say they’ll retaliate “symmetrically”
c) thinks the US might mess with Treasuries, in that case it would be wiser to sell them outright, and turn the dollars they receive in return into something they can repatriate safely (however they might have to do that outside the US sphere of influence, so maybe that’s why they retrieved the Treasuries…)
I’m not really sure what’s going on, and what realistic options are, but I haven’t come across an honest appraisal yet, except for Russia bashing articles with varying degrees if insincerity.

Desperation shows:
“According to the president’s recent Executive Order, “Blocking Property of Certain Persons Contributing to the Situation in Ukraine” (first reported by WND’s Aaron Klein), the provisions for seizure of property extend to “any United States person.” That means “any United States citizen, permanent resident alien, entity organized under the laws of the United States or any jurisdiction within the United States (including foreign branches), or any person in the United States.”
Declaring a “national emergency” over the planned referendum in Crimea to determine whether or not to join Russia, the US president asserts that asset seizure is possible for any US person “determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State”:
(i) to be responsible for or complicit in, or to have engaged in, directly or indirectly, any of the following:
(A) actions or policies that undermine democratic processes or institutions in Ukraine;
(B) actions or policies that threaten the peace, security, stability, sovereignty, or territorial integrity of Ukraine; or
(C) misappropriation of state assets of Ukraine or of an economically significant entity in Ukraine;
The Executive Order is, as usual, so broadly written that it leaves nearly everything open to interpretation.”

Will any other regions in the Ukraine hold a referendum to escape the devils of the EU and USA? These Zio-jackals in the West want to enslave the Ukrianian people.
How many innocent people have Kerry, McCain, Nuland, the oligarchs and Obama killed this week?
@Russophobia, Europhobia,
One can say that Russophobia starts with the Baptism of Rus in the Orthodox Faith at a time when “Europe” was already sliding down the slope of heresy and schism. Now it was “Europe” which accused the Orthodox of schism and heresy and adopted an attitude of contempt and hatred towards the Eastern Schismatics. The hatred for Russians is more virulent because Russia could not be conquered and did not fall for the lies propagated by the West.
Germanics appeared many times over as the spearhead of the western push to conquer the vast spaces of “Scythia” (even before the appearance of the Russian proper – the Varangians).
It should be clear that Hitler’s estward push was ment to be the completion of the unfinished task of Wilhelmian Germany to conquer Russia. It is ironic that the extension of Germany in Ukraine and the propping of its independence following the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk led directly to the defeat of Germany. The divisions much needed on the Western front had to be kept in Ukraine to enforce the requisitions of cereals and coal as well as to keep an eye on the Russians who could have resume hostilities at any time. It had an even more ironic end. The POV returned to Germany had thoroughly inoculated with the Bolshevik virus. The establisment of diplomatic relations with the Bolshevik government gave free rein to the Bolshevik propaganda in the heart of the Reich itself. That was the real “Stab in the back” (Dolchstoss). In actual fact the Germans shot themselves in the foot.
The conquest of Russia was and remain the major objective of the “West”. The clash between the “West” and Nazi Germany was due to the competition for this final pray.

Awesome!
Saker,
The whole point of UNSC resolution was to isolate Russia by making china abstain! China didn’t veto the resolution because she swallowed some deal on japan thrown by USA.
Putin is alone unless he does something very smart. (No idea what his plan of action is!)
I think one has to agree that USA played fairly smartly by successfully creating neo-nazi corridor between Russia and Europe.
So, USA +1, Russia -1 and Europe -2.

The main propaganda point being vomited by the USA media, the French media and all EU media: there are no –repeat NO — nazis in the Ukraine at this time . But mezzo voce: yes there are a few, but they are so peaceful and so kind. Not a problem. But Putin is the Devil.
Amitiés à tous d’une France qui nous fait honte.
De Gaulle reviens!
Let me start by saying that I support the people of Crimea (Russians, Tatars and whoever else) in whatever decision they make.
But I do not agree with the notion that Russia freed the West from the National Socialist Germans.
Orthodox Russia was savagely beaten and placed under “house arrest” in 1917 by the Godless Bolsheviks (who were financed by the International Shylocks in the West). Orthodox Russia was duped into making treaties with Britain and France before WW I – she was promised Constantinople should the Ottoman Empire fall and when Russian soldiers were getting close to Constantinople, guess what? The West and the International Shylocks stabbed Orthodox Russia in the back via the Bolshevik revolution!
It was the Godless USSR which was oppressing people in her territories and had invaded some of the Baltic states and parts of Romania. Combined with the many Bolshevik provacateurs in Central European countries and that the USSR was gearing up to invade Central Europe, the National Socialists had no choice but to invade pre-emptively. National Socialist Germany had too few men and too few resources to take on the combined forces of the USSR, USA, Imperial Britain and Imperial France – although she did well holding up for six years! National Socialist Germany was forced into war because they had come up with an alternative economic system that liberated her people from the control of the International Shylocks. This was what the war on Germany was all about! National Socialist Germany was an “aberration” for the West. Regarding the National Socialist treatment of the “untermenschen”-it was far better than the treatment of America with her colored troops and Britain and France with their Imperial troops. Many non Germans and even non whites including Blacks and Indians fought wearing a German uniform in WW II – and guess what they were honored and respected as equals. In fact when the Germans initially had success in Operation Barbarossa they captured so many Soviet soldiers that they did not have food to feed them all so they asked the Soviet government to supply them with food and guess what was the reply – no such thing as a captured Soviet Soldier! National Socialist Germany was FORCED to do things she did not want to do. I agree with one of the other commenters that people should visit justice4germans.com to get a German viewpoint of why they did things the way they did. (It has not being updated in a while – apparently the powers that be in Canada do not like the content and pressure is being put on creator of the site).
Now coming to my main point. Why the West hates Russia? Simple – because Russia is slowly recovering from Communism and is no longer under “house arrest” since the fall of the USSR. Russia is regaining her Orthodox roots and the Godless West hates this. You know that the West actually tried to destroy Orthodox Christianity via Bolshevism because the powers that be know that Orthodox Christianity has never undergone a rapprochement unlike Western Christianity to give rise to a “Judeo-Christian civilization” and never will. The powers that be ALSO KNOW that Orthodox Christianity and Islam (not these Zionist funded useful idiots in Libya or Syria or anywhere else) will make a military alliance to take on the main force of Gog & Magog (NATO post 1945) and liberate Constantinople from NATO control. It is this potential alliance that threatens the West’s ultimate goal – to make Israel the ruling state in the world post Pax Americana!
In the 1930’s it was Germany’s time in History to stand up and act – she tried valiantly but ultimately the forces of Gog & Magog overcame her and today she is still occupied and indoctrinated. But Thank God, now, it is Orthodox Russia’s time to act in History – I, as a Muslim, stand by her!
(Apologies for the long post).

That intro is a sure ringer for the zionazi hasbara that will inevitably follow. Question is why do these Jewish spammers want to support nazism?
вот так
Yesterday (and today), McCain and 7 other US senators were speaking to the press IN KIEV… (!)… and asking the Obama’s regime for long-term military assistance to Ukraine.
Unbelievable, ain’t it?
Then they’ll dare to ask “Oh why does the entire world hate us?”.
A few days ago I wondered why Vic “f__k the EU” Nuland, i.e., the Obama’s regime, was so speedy as to precipitate the “revolution” in Ukraine at this moment, thus risking the -thermonuclear- WWIII war, rather than waiting for a year till new the elections took place, when Yanu would not be reelected.
Now I think the answer could be in this issue: On december past, China signed an accord with Kiev –then her strategic partner– to invest 8.000 million dollars in the country, and lend it 10.000 more millions in order to lease three million hectares of the Ukrainian fertile soil for the next 50 years. At the same time, China was considering Yanu’s request to enter the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization). Were this not enough, the BRICS was also warming up the relationship with her.
For the US regime, Russia was a long sought price, but a small one for its gargantuan appetite. The final objective, the big fish to catch, is and will be China.
Pity the Ukrainian people if they don’t or cannot take matters in their own hands and rid themselves of all the “yats” and the rest of traitors working as american and EU agents, plundering the country on behalf of their masters. That gold that has been siphoned to the USA ( Yatsenyuk takes Scythian gold to US as money-back guarantee -http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_03_16/Yatsenyuk-takes-Scythian-gold-to-US-as-money-back-guarantee-8858/ ), will never come back to Ukraine. Same pattern in Iraq and Libya.
Whatever pains and grieves the Ukrainians had received from Russia in the past will look like honey whey they realize they’re about to go through hell, and will stay there for at least three generations, after being driven into abject poverty.
“Hitler would be proud of his successors”
Better phrased:
“The successors of Averell Harriman, Prescot Bush, Clarence Dillon, Henry Ford, Halford Mackinder, William Saunders and George Buchanan are so proud of the disasters created in Eurasia that they use the old tactics until every school kid sees through them – which is now”.
God bless you.
@Penny
“I recall the first time I read about the eastern front, the brutality of the battles between Russia and Germany
and then the horrendous treatment visited upon the Russians by the Germans I was shocked.
I never had a clue- not from my dumbed down education at my frankfurt school….”
I think if you looked you’d find that the brutality of the Bolsheviks under Kaganovich (that Kagan name again!) and Ehrenburg was every bit as bad as the Nazis. There were no heroes or good guys in WW1-2; all sides were manipulated by the Cabal.
The Frankfurt School was of course a Jewish Communist institution and was the tool by which a form of Communism (not Nazism), Cultural Marxism, was spread westwards into western Europe and USA.
I am confused about this Hitler bashing from so many people who are clearly not taken in by mainstream propaganda.
From what I understand about Hitler is that his vision of a “European Union” was nothing like the one we have today, so comparing the two is ridiculous!
I understand Hitler may have had some strong views about Slavs and may not be liked by many Russians, but I am highly suspicious about claims that he viewed all Russians as subhumans (Untermensh).
Sounds like typical propaganda speak to me, yet it seems to me that all you “enlightened” people are more than happy to accept the propaganda when it fits your world view.
The sources I have studied suggest that Hitler’s foreign policy was a multi-polar world much like Putin’s and that he was not a conqueror, but a defender against allied aggression. His “attack” against Russia (Barbarossa) was not a quest for world domination, but a pre-emptive strike against Stalin who’d deployed the world’s largest military on the Western Soviet frontier ready to move into central and Western Europe.
But maybe by sources are bad. There is plenty of crappy information on the net, so you can never be sure.
Here’s a revisionist podcast on the real reason for Barbarossa by Mark Weber. You are welcome to point out any errors. In fact knowing the truth is of great interest to me so bring it on!
The Mark Weber Report: Why Hitler Struck Against Soviet Russia in 1941
Important evidence has come to light in recent decades that shatters the official, endlessly repeated view that Hitler, bent on world conquest, launched a treacherous surprise attack against a peaceful Soviet Union. Long-suppressed documents and other detailed evidence shows that by June 1941 Soviet dictator Stalin had built the world’s largest military machine, and had deployed an enormous strike force on the western Soviet frontier, in readiness for a massive attack against Germany that would roll on to overwhelm central and western Europe. Hitler’s ‘Barbarossa” attack, say a growing number of historians in Russia, Germany and other countries, was actually a preventive war to forestall an imminent Soviet strike.

Greetings from Singapore:
In 1941 the song KATYUSHA came to life, to bid farewell to Russian soldiers going on the battle front *against Nazi Germany*.
I find the song & lyrics always inspiring, more now:
Apple trees were blooming white and fuchsia.
O’er the river fog began to creep.
Out along the water walked Katyusha
Down the river’s bank so high and steep.
As she walked, she started sweetly singing
Of a gray steppe eagle high above,
Of him to whose letters she was clinging,
Of the one, to whom she’d pledged her love.
Oh you song! You little maiden’s chorus,
Fly away beyond the sun and snow.
To the distant soldier serving for us
Tell him that Katyusha says hello.
May he think about her on occasion,
May he hear her heartfelt little song,
May he guard our homeland from invasion,
And their love Katyusha will keep strong.
Dear Muslim Anonymous,
You base your long post on an alleged “German viewpoint” on the website “justice4germans.com”.
I, as a German Muslima, disagree as much with your post as with the viewpoints of this website. I base my disagreement not only on the orally transmitted stories of my elder relatives (even older than me :-) but also on my professional historical training, albeit in another area of study.

Lugansk residents block train carrying military hardware to Ukrainian-Russian border
http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_03_16/Lugansk-residents-block-train-carrying-military-hardware-to-Ukrainian-Russian-border-6025/
“Some three hundred men barricaded the railway with metal junk and formed a live shield to prevent the train from moving further eastward in a vehement show of defiance against the policy pursued by the new government in Kiev.
The Ukrainian authorities rushed trainloads of military hardware towards the Russian border on Sunday as Crimea votes on its future status. The referendum was called after the anti-government coup in Kiev.
LiveNews has obtained footage of one such train crossing the Lugansk region, which borders on Russia’s Belgorod and Voronezh in the east and Rostov region in the south…”

Right Sector leader: Kiev should be ready to sabotage Russian pipelines in Ukraine http://rt.com/news/yarosh-destroy-russia-pipelines-186/
“…“We cannot allow the enemy to carry out a blitzkrieg attack on Ukrainian territory. We mustn’t forget that Russia makes money sending its oil through our pipelines to the West. We will destroy these pipelines and deprive our enemy of its source of income,” Yarosh said.
Continuing the bellicose rhetoric, Yarosh appealed to his followers, urging them to take up arms against Russia, if a diplomatic solution cannot be reached.”
Yes, turning off the gas going to Europe will help the bandera nazi’s image there immensely. :D The Israeli-Americans probably couldn’t have found a more stupid dupe in the whole of the Ukraine. As one commenter at ANNA wrote:

Its amazing how much the power of the western elite has declined. The western propaganda outlets have seriously lost creditability not just with their own populations but with most of the entire worlds.
No one buys newspapers because nothing against corporations or rich people is allowed to be printed. Newspapers are completely boring and all the information that is printed on them can easily be read for free online. Add the fact that craigslist is far superior to paper ads and why bother spending 1-2 dollars for a worthless corporate propaganda?
Print media is dead while TV media is following the same path because all you get is celebrity gossip and pathetic corporate propaganda.
Neoliberalism is completely discredited as an economic force for modernization. Not a single none western aligned country that practices free trade has managed to modernize. Mexico and Argentina both imploded and neither has exactly become a successful story of development not withstanding following the neoliberal script slavishly.
Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea have all been very successful and not a single one has every followed the free-trade mantra. They all practice highly nationalistic development models that call bullshit to US and European demands to unilaterally open their markets to their manufactured imports.
Americans don’t care about Free trade, democracy promotion, gay rights, or any of that other bs spouted by the government. People care about jobs, access to health care, and good schools.
The elites want a corporate world and are shamelessly using their control of the media to try and railroad Americans into stupid wars that most people don’t support.
Russia is not a perfect country or a hugely successful development model. Russia is basically nothing but a Petro state with a huge defense industry. Russia’s saving grace is that they are a huge country with a massive if backwards agricultural and mining base.
The difference is that Russia is quite aware of its weakness and is basically trying to strengthen the right of states to national sovereignty. Russia is basically a normal power that is trying to avoid becoming a US/Euro/Japanese client state.
The US government is basically embarrassing themselves by blatantly demanding that Russia stop Crimea from exercising self determination while piously pretending that its only Russia that is violating Ukraine’s sovereignty.
I don’t really care about Russia or Ukraine and think we should stay out of it and let them work things out between themselves. Quite frankly its amazing that the US Elite are acting like most Americans don’t feel the same. The opinion polls are quite damning in that 53% of Americans thing we should mind our own business internationally.

The UN Security Council resolution on Crimea vetoed by Russia on Saturday could only further worsen the Ukrainian crisis, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
“A UN Security Council resolution, calling on countries not to recognize the results of the Crimean referendum, “could currently only lead to confrontation and further aggravate the situation,” according to a statement issued Sunday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang.” in RT
So this statement go in tandem with what Saker said: “As for China, they cannot ever vote for anything which might weaken national sovereignty because of Tibet and their eastern provinces. So their words as neutral. Their actual actions, and the coverage in the local media in China is 100% behind Russia”, because China openly critised USA, the author of this project.
threre was a nother kraina in the 90s and it had a very inglorious end i am afraid that the russians in ukraine will suffer the same fate as the serbs did in croatia, which culminated in operation storm.
@ Narcisco Lopez
sentiment was similarly “isolationist” before WW2 – the New England oligarchs think they can turn it around again using the old artifacts like pressuring the enemy long enough until he fires the first shot etc.
However Russia and China seem to be aware of this…

Wonder how the Venice referendum is going today:
“Venice may also sever ties with the European Union and NATO if it gains its independence.
“Venetians not only want out of Italy, but we also want out of the euro, the EU and NATO,” Raffaele Serafini, another pro-independence activist, told the Telegraph.
Members of the movement say they have been inspired by Scotland and Catalonia, who have also planned referendums for this year. Scotland will vote for its independence in September, despite statements from the British government that they will not be allowed the pound if they separate. Spain’s government has decried Catalonia’s planned referendum as illegal and in defiance of Spanish sovereignty.”
Crimea is not alone…….:).All the best to the people of Crimea today.
On another note who was that charlatan on RT this morning from some organisation called the Carneige (sums it up) Moscow Centre. Claims he was ex military and spent most of his time giving his opinion on how Putin should have handled the Ukraine/Crimea situation. The whole interview was very irritating…

Crimean govt: Referendum website downed by cyber-attack from US http://rt.com/news/crimea-referendum-attack-website-194/
“The official website of the Crimean referendum is down due to a cyber-attack that originated from the US, Crimean authorities say.
The exact location from which the website’s servers were attacked was Illinois University, Crimean minister of information and mass communications Dmitry Polonsky told Itar-Tass news agency.
“This place turned out to be the Illinois University at Urbana-Champaign. A massive scanning of the servers took place from there before the attack,” Polonsky said.
The assault started during the night (2300 GMT Saturday). At 1000 GMT Sunday, the referendum2014.ru site still wasn’t functioning.
Polonsky stressed that the referendum website has been “DDoS-attacked regularly since its launch.” The portal with .ua domain was replaced with .ru after several attacks.
The referendum is taking place in Crimea, with the vote reported to be peaceful and with high turnout, according to both international observers and Crimean authorities.
On Friday, major Russian government web resources were attacked with DDoS malware – those included the Russian president’s website, as well as those of the Foreign Ministry and the Central Bank. http://rt.com/news/kremlin-site-attack-hackers-790/
Also, state media websites – the Channel One and Russia-24 TV channels – were under attack, reportedly from Kiev. The targeted Russian media said the attacks were linked to their editorial policy in covering Ukraine. http://rt.com/news/russian-media-ddos-ukraine-614/
Finally, on the same day, an attempted radio-electronic attack on Russian TV satellites from the territory of Western Ukraine was recorded by the Ministry of Communications. http://rt.com/news/ukraine-attacks-television-satellites-990/
DDoS is the kind of cyber-attack during which requests are sent to the attacked website from many computers, usually virus-infected.”

«Атаки последнего поколения» (“Attack of the last generation”) http://www.vz.ru/society/2014/3/16/677302.html
(auto trans) “They noted that the experts were able to calculate the source of attacks. It appeared to be the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA), which was conducted before the attack powerful scanning site servers.
Note that the city of Urbana, with a population of 37 thousand people have available a large number of subnets IP, for example, subnet 192.17.0.0 – 192.17.255.255, which allows you to select a range of about 500 IP per inhabitant. And these subnets at least five. In addition, the city has three airports. Although official information about finding its military bases not all external data suggest that there is one of the headquarters of the NSA.”

Off-topic question:
I was recently told by a Serbian friend of mine that the freshly re-united Germany under chancellor Kohl apparently had a large role in the drive to break up Yugoslavia, and that the US were initially reluctant to support Croat and Bosnian independence movements. If so, how would Germany bring so much influence to bear at this point in history? They ust got their re-unification free-pass from Gorbachev, Bush and Mitterand, how were they in a position to influence events on the Balkan that much, and more importantly why would they want Yugoslavia to break up in the first place? My friend also told me that there was an EU accession offer on the table to the whole of Yugoslavia as one country.
So to those of you knowledgable in the history of the western Balkan, I would appreciate if you could point me to relevant information, or perhaps even deal with some of my questions I asked. (I know given what’s happening in Crimea now, this may not be no. 1 priority)
Kind regards
David
Exit polls show 93% of Crimeans want to be part of Russia.
At the smae time lovely end to the winter olympics – though back in the studio a chap called Frank Gardener couldn’t help himself by discussing politics and how the “entire world” is against the Crimean referendum and breaking up of a soverign nation. Well the people of the Crimea don’t share your opinion Frank!
He also said that the remoter parts of Russia (has he been there?) put people in a wheel chair into sanitoriums and compared to the 1950’s…..a very pompous chap who seemed to have very old views about Russia – in my humble opinion. I personally felt it was not the right place to make these comments – very sour grapes.

About 93% of Crimeans in referendum voted to join Russia – exit poll http://rt.com/news/crimea-vote-join-russia-210/
““The results of the referendum exit polls in Crimea and Sevastopol: 93 percent voted for the reunion of Crimea with Russia as a constituent unit of the Russian Federation. 7 percent voted for the restoration of the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Crimea and Crimea’s status as part of Ukraine,” the Crimean republican institute for political and social research said in a statement as cited by RIA Novosti.
The overall voter turnout in Crimea constituted over 80%, reports local news agency Kryminnform.
In Sevastopol, about 85% of voters cast their ballots by 1600 GMT, two hours before the polling stations closed, according to the chair of the city’s election commission Valery Medvedev.
Over a half of the Tatars living in the port city took part in the referendum, with the majority of them voting in favor of joining Russia, reports Itar-Tass citing a representative of the Tatar community Lenur Usmanov.”

Brave Saker, I am a great admirer of your work from Rio, Brasil. All my thoughts with the brave crimean people and my hope on Putin’s nerves and courage.
From RT:
“Ukrainians now can send a text message to support their national army as a campaign has been launched by the new authorities in Kiev. A text message will charge a donor around $0.5, while the National Security Council’s website also lists several bank account numbers. Soon after President Viktor Yanukovich was ousted from his post by a coup, the treasury was proclaimed almost empty. A short promo movie supporting the campaign says 40,000 have been mobilized and require aid to keep up operational capabilities.”
Looks like the right wing have no money so are asking the Ukranian people to send money! Note it is from the National Security Council. Who is in charge…..one guess….
I hope ordinary Ukrainians don’t give up any money for the thugs esp. if the gold stroy is true…..

I grew up hearing my mother screaming and crying in her sleep every night. Every single night!
For me, as a child, this was rather scary. I didn’t dare to ask because obviously she didn’t know doing this. Only when I grew up I learned, bit by bit, from other relatives (also rather traumatized), what that was possibly about.
I really am not ready to get into details because for me it is much too personal, much too emotionally fraught and I don’t like to get emotional in public.
Suffice it to say that I don’t take kindly to being advised on “what Germans experienced” and “what their viewpoints are”. Not all of them loved “den Führer”. Some were suffering from the “Nazi”-Regime. Some were suffering from seeing what the “Nazi”-Regime did. Some suffered from both.
(And by the way, everything this ignorant website “justice4germans.com” says how the word “Nazi” was coined is rubbish).
If our dear Muslim anonymous wants to know more about the treatment of Soviet war prisoners, he could try to google “Stalag” and “Dachau & medical experiments” or “Commissar Order”. And that’s only the snowflake on the top of the iceberg. There was more. There was such an awful lot more.
