Churchill one said: “You can always count on the Americans to do the right thing after they have tried every thing else”. In the same style, the new idea of Donald Trump with his Kremlin list will not bring about the millionaire rebellion but, on the contrary, will lead to the consolidation of the elites and return of their money to Russia. The process has already started..

Good. You can’t call a deal a good deal if you do it with someone that’s aiming a gun right at you. It’s called robbery.
I do wonder though if in fact recent KSA princeling corruption crackdown served as a good example of what could happen for the Russian oligarchs ?
Reminds me of this:
“You can get much farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone”.
– Al Capone, as quoted in Forbes (6 October 1986).
Really superb irony! No one does it like the Russians.
My absolute favourite bit was, “Imagine a spherical business man in a vacuum…”
Imagine a ….
I am going to be quietly chuckling over than one for a long time.
Yes, a very accurate video report. I have read that hundreds of millions of dollars have already returned to Russia, compliments of US “experts”.
For the past couple of years I have been wondering who works in the US Government and where they find their “experts”. In 2014 the EU and US instigate that coup d’etat against Yanukovich in Kiev, NATO grabs Kiev and Putin grabs back the Crimea. I am still laughing. Yes, NATO also wanted to grab the Naval Base of Sevastopol. They sent some of their best special forces to the Crimea, who were joined by Ukrainian special units. They were planning a sneak attack against Sevastopol. Putin retaliates and send in his Spetznatz special forces, who encircle both NATO and Ukrainian units. NATO was in a state of shock. However, there was no fighting. Putin played it smart. The Russians opened a corridor and let both NATO and Ukrainian forces “escape”.
After that the US and EU introduce sanctions against Russia. The result of this foolishness ? By the second half of 2016, the EU lost 100 billion euros in trade, while Russia turned to it’s own resources. modernizing its industry and agriculture. The past two years saw bumper harvests, with Russian non GMO food products becoming the latest fashion on world markets. Russia even completed the Yamal gas project in the Arctic.
Now we have these latest sanctions, targeting Russian businessmen. Well, the ones operating in Russia must have laughed, as they generally run state corporations. And the ones residing outside Russia ? They started sending their money back to Russia, hundreds of millions of dollars. Yes, Russians love money, just like Americans. However, they are a little bit more patriotic than Americans when Mother Russia is in question.
Finally, both Kiev and Washington were hoping for a “Maidan” in Moscow. I just don’t know what needs to be said to both Kiev and Washington that a “Maidan” in Moscow is IMPOSSIBLE. History plays a huge role in Russia, as it does in the whole of Europe. People cannot forget the Yeltsin years, when Russia was plundered by Western banks and corporations to the sum of 100 billion dollars a year, and when poverty was rife. No one wants a return to those years. However, Washington is having a tough time understanding this. Soros and his NGO’s have been supporting some non entities in Russia for the upcoming Presidential elections, people like little Kseniya Sobchak, a TV personality with no Government or political experience. Soros and the West were hoping that she would attract female voters. She will not. The American mentality cannot be applied to Russia. Almost everything the West has been doing in the previous years ended up in Putin’s favor, for which he must be thankful, turning him into an international celebrity.
“where they find their “experts”.”
they are not that bright.
I remember when I studied for my (American) certification in Project Management – reading about how American car industry reps went to Japan in 70s I think to study how Japanese productivity was so much higher than theirs.
the representatives figured it was about (I think ) 800% or so more productive and when they came back they all concluded that was impossible. So they did nothing for a few years. Then they sent another group of ‘experts’ – who came back with the same result as last time.
Only then they believed it (about 5-10 years later)….

The 2013-2014 coup and resultant war in Novorossiya was, indeed, all of west, read US, construct. As for the events in Krimea and Sevastopol, two entirely separate entities, for the first few days of our Russian Spring Moskau stood back and watched, albeit I’m sure with a goodly amount of behind the scenes activity. The general consensus of opinion is President Putin watched and waited to make sure the turmoil in Krimu and Sevastopol was real and not a flash in the pan.
There were some nato, read US, units in both entities but not enough to stop hardly a sarjant’s guard if push came to shove except for Feodosya. The main cadre was in Feodosya on the south coast, this orc specialist lager happened to have the only operating S 300 battery on the entire island.
Within but hours after the steadily increasing screams from Kiev getting distinctly more vitriolic and violence threatening, unarmed local citizens began to blockade the orc installations throughout the island. The citizens of Sevastopol and Krimea acted long before Moskau did and it was this spontaneous reaction all over the island that was the catalyst for Moskau to act. President Putin did not ‘grab’ Krimea and Sevastopol, both entities were handed to him on a silver platter by the citizens of both.
There were no ‘corridors’ opened for the orcs and nato/us troops to escape through, in the end they were disarmed and escorted off of the island. There was scattered fighting, in particular at Krim Rada Complex in Simferopol and at Feodosya but the Feodosya fight was actually a sham so the orc Spetznaz could save face and withdraw after putting up a ‘fight’. Blank ammo was used (unlike nato weapons, Comrade Kalashnikov’s finest sounds like the real thing on blank fire), arranged before the fracas, although as usual there was a fly or two in the ointment which did involve live ammo but no one was hurt beyond a busted nose or two and one broken arm. As the dust settled, just under 65% of the orc spetznaz decided to stay and join Russian Spetznaz Units.
In the end we lost 9 dead and around 40 or so in hospital for the entire Russian Spring Revolution, Russia was handed Sevastopol and the Krimu Island. US watched the prize, the brass ring, of the Federal City of Sevastopol give them the upraised middle digit and go home to Mother with Krimea. Talk about a miscalculation of epic proportions……

Since I am always researching for my writings, can you expand on this information about nato ‘best special forces and Ukrainian special units’? This is something I have not heard about.

‘For the past couple of years I have been wondering who works in the US Government and where they find their “experts”’.
Consider this:
“The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies”.
– Robert Conquest’s Third Law of Politics
Yes, that is indeed true. As that famous Roman writer stated, a single spy inside the walls of Rome is more dangerous than an invading army outside the walls of Rome.
“… I have been wondering who works in the US Government ? ”

Thank you.

My pleasure. I am pleased you enjoyed my comment.
It’s interesting what was said about the communist candidate Grudinin.
That he is an oligarch with money offshore – why did the communist party pick him? Surely this goes against their principles ?
They are trying to get power the wrong way.
As for the oligarchs – they don’t deserve state protection. Keeping money offshore to avoid taxes is what all rich people do – in the UK it’s a common practice. However it cheats the people of tax money for public services and it’s not right.
Well, you know who created the original communists (Bolsheviks) in Russia. Western bankers. Perhaps they placed the current Communist Party under their control, yet again. Who knows. Time will tell.
Oh how sweet the sarcasm.
Great analysis wrapped in droll wit. How sophisticated and Russian.
Thank you, Eugenia, for more of your excellent translation and sub-titling.
By quoting Churchill you remind me of a video that I’ve discovered earlier on the channel of Inessa: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppnj0rZKfqQ (2017 KGB FILES DECLASSIFIED: Churchill killed Stalin). If someone considers that plans for Operation Unthinkable had been made on orders of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill there may be some grain of truth in the aforementioned documentary.
This is off-topic – please post off topic comments in the MFC. Any further will go to trash. Mod
Off-topic, yes, but nonetheless a must watch video, folks!
This chap is wickedly funny.
I don’t get it. The Russian oligarchs are not elites, they are crooks.
Excellent summary from Ruslan. Thanks Eugenia for translation.
What is political and diplomatic significance of members of the Russian Federation government being sanctioned by “Kremlin list”?
They do not fit category of the oligarchs and Ruslan doesn’t mention that Scenario.

I do not think it will be all so easy as to simply transfer their accounts out of those establishments.
Their assets are basically being siezed. There will be undoubtedly extra conditions placed upon the bodyes on on that black list, some of which they will not be able to meet. There is an offer(ultimatum) made, namely, chose sides NOW!
Of course, none of those parties keep all their assets in one basket, so they will have to weigh their particular leverages and chose accordingly.
This thang is not new. Been ongoing for quite a while, and since these peeps are not exactly living under illusions, like the rest of us, they have probably already made their decisions, either pro or contra.
And it is not just about money, there are family considerations as well.
There will b defections, likely covert…
That is how it works.
Funny. The phrase “spherical oligarch” stopped me for a moment, until I realized that it probably meant “global oligarch”.
Thanks Cyril i just thought fat
No, it is an old joke about some problem with, I think herd of cows.
Ah yes
Milk production at a dairy farm was low, so the farmer wrote to the local university, asking for help from academia. A multidisciplinary team of professors was assembled, headed by a theoretical physicist, and two weeks of intensive on-site investigation took place. The scholars then returned to the university, notebooks crammed with data, where the task of writing the report was left to the team leader. Shortly thereafter the physicist returned to the farm, saying to the farmer, “I have the solution, but it works only in the case of spherical cows in a vacuum”.
South African businessmen also rejoiced when international sanctions were placed on South Africa in the late 1980s. The domestic economy was strengthened as a result. South Africa caved in to the Anglo-American-Zio elites a few years later. What makes the fate of Russia different?
China!
@Lumpenkoenig. Putin.
” … What makes the fate of Russia different? … ”
Size for one thing. Russia is huge, enormously reach with natural resources and has excellent scientists. It is a self – sufficient world on its own. It doesn’t really need any one.
Ostashko tends to put a positive spin on things, regardless of reality.
The Empire is attempting to push Russian oligarchs into action. They want to create an atmosphere of desperation, whereby powerful people feel a coup has to take place or they’ll lose everything. This is the Empire striking back.
A business elite is never nationalist. By definition, it’s liberal, not even capitalist. What these people want to do is whatever they feel, whenever they feel like it. Has Ostashko thought this through?
Russia needs to continue the import replacement program. On foreign affairs, perhaps they need to lead from behind. Meaning? Meaning, maybe most of Western Ukraine is actually Hungry, for example. They can’t go head-to-head with the empire and that’s not the problem anyway. A lot of times, they find themselves up against something like kanada, or WaBa, or whatever. How do you get anywhere when you’re stuck on “estonian issues.”
Take the Syrian issue. What’s the resolution? The Syrian army fights up to the territory occupied by the US and then what? Then it stops. At which point the US force occupies more territory. What would happen if Northern Syria became Turkey? What would happen if this decision was supported by all local players save the US? Maybe it’s a bad idea but all must admit, an impasse has been reached concerning the Northern border.
All and all, I’d say mockery is only useful when it applies. I wish we would laugh a little less at how monsters look when they’re charging toward us. Clearly, how they look is not the problem.
The Empire is attempting to push Russian oligarchs into action.
Did you even watch Ostashenko’s video before dumping on him? If you had watched it, you would have noticed that he addressed this issue. He said the oligarchs would not betray Russia for two reasons:
(1) They would probably be robbed by the West anyway.
(2) Any attempt at betrayal would not be secret for long — and Russia’s FSB is very active.
Rather solid conclusion: the oligarchs will move their wealth back to Russia.
Let me remind of Jose Rizal.
He states, that domestic improvement can only be earned by raising the bars in “morals”, say better behavior, obeying laws, less corruption, more sense of national unity and loyalty, so there is room for such a development practically in every country.
Countries with responsible, diligent, and tolerant forefathers (means respectful, knowing who you are, NOT laissez-faire) are in better condition than countries with selfish, corrupt, and despotic forefathers.
No sustainable gain without sacrifice and stakes.
What happens in Russia, seems in the long run compatible with these thoughts.
Sanctions are acts of war, but the US has made undeclared perpetual war normal. Congress is too cowardly to do their Constitutional duty to debate and declare war. Looking at Trump’s top people- neocons, (the most dangerous people on earth) and The Generals (2nd Place), are extremely confident, extremely war-loving (in theory, not on the front lines) and some seem to believe they can “win” a nuke exchange. Why? According to a fairly recent report by the plutocrat-controlled Rand Institute, a nuke exchange would kill millions of Americans, but Russia would suffer more, so it’s all worth it, because hurting Russia is lots more important than keeping Americans alive. And the most disgusting, life-hating part of this sick document urges Wash DC to shoot off some nukes soon, before our fabricated enemies catch up on weaponry
It’s true. There’s no thinking going on in (US) government when mind control and fear are all that are left.
Of course the roots of the word are “control” (gubernare ..latin verb) and “mind”, so what do you expect?
When James Madison said, “If men were angels, government would not be necessary.” I take that to mean the happy expediency when the consciousness of the governor-controllers was at least slightly more evolved than the aggregate consciouness of the governed-controlled.
But what if those controllers, through mental stasis and immobility, become a putrified mass of senile dementia….and a significant minority of the governed begin to wake up to that reality???
I think that’s where we are now……in the Imperial Homeland….. where the governed naively assumed their nation could remain a Republic, even if they went to sleep, en masse for a century or two.
There is an awakening underway, but it is still way too shallow, too thin. So, we are not nearly out of the woods yet.
The next Act is likely to be the Global Showdown Over Money….the most dangerous Act of This Drama yet. Because if there is one thing that precipitates people losing their senses the fastest…….it is when their Fake Sense of Worth is in a rapid process of evaporation.
@snowboard. Dr.StrangeLove: “We’d Lose 10M, tops.” Only it ain’t gonna be Like that. This is 2018 not 1968. Not just a gentlemanly exchange of nuclear ping pong then declare victory and quit. Real war coming to Walmart near you. No use commanding NATZO from underground in your bunkers; even, if your bunker is far away from the USA — say in that nice estate you bought in Patagonia — after devastating your cities they will be hunting you down personally. WW3 will be where the USA, for the first time in its bloodsoaked but relatively unscathed expansion, will find out what real war is like. Its Leaders may end up like Hitler committing suicide in their bunkers, or like Mussolini shot by their own people, or if lucky they might be hung after a comfortable Nurenberg trial; but there is no way the self-styled Leaders of the Free World can escape defeat in WW3 — because they are mad. Like the mad Emperor Caligula, “Let them hate me so long as they fear me”, they have not reckoned: what Lasthappens when people stop fearing us? Syria and Crimea is where the world stopped fearing the Anglo Empire; their best course now is to calm down and consult a psychiatrist about their delusions of grandeur.
“their best course now is to calm down and consult a psychiatrist about their delusions of grandeur.”
Unfortunately, the sort of shrinks they would think of consulting would be loyal zionazi types…
