Why anyone would think that one democrat or republican is different from any other one is unfathomable. They are people who would harm you, kill you, or steal from you and justify it because it’s the law- without the least bit of remorse. The only reason for the different names and titles is to be able to sell the same bullshit and horror to different groups who otherwise have nothing or very little in common with each other and would be horrified at the prospect of agreeing with or accepting each others values. Cassad has a good take on Medvedev’s comment today. First, the Medvedev quote:
“The signing by the US President of a new sanctions law against Russia creates several consequences: firstly, the hope of improving our relations with the new US administration is dead. Secondly, US declared a fully-fledged trade war on Russia. Thirdly, the Trump administration demonstrated complete impotence by humiliatingly transferring executive powers to the Congress, which changes the balance of power in US political circles,” Medvedev wrote in his Facebook blog.
Cassad’s take (Yandex translation):
“1. Trade war actually is in 2014. But given the fact that the presence of the Cold war, recognized only in late autumn 2014, here you can see another manifestation of the residual illusions of Westerners.
“2. About the end of hope, I believe Medvedev even too pessimistic, the bottom of us-Russian relations is far from being achieved. While it is understandable that after all the hopes that Moscow could not to show disappointment at the weakness of the trump
“If you ignore about the current military-political head-butting in the Ukraine or Syria, the main and I would even say civilizational sense of what is happening, is that objective reality has dealt a severe blow by the residual illusions of Westerners, which on one hand have resigned to the fact that the “Golden billion” will not take them in any form, but after all his disappointments, fate has thrown a good option with trump, who looked less foreseeable than Clinton, which was waiting for successive and inevitable deterioration of relations. Well, trump is, to some extent, revived the hope that reconciliation is possible, and objectively, the window of opportunity in this area. But the inertia of events generated by objective contradictions, was stronger than the desires of individuals. And it’s not just in the current level of relations. The conflict deals a serious blow to the whole complex ideology of the Russian Westerners, a quarter of a century engaged in the attempt to fit Russia into the Western world. Parting with illusions is difficult and painful, though, if more attention at the time was paid to the work of ideologists of the American hegemony, we could understand that within the modern world Russia is not and cannot be worthy of a place in the Western world. It is there simply not available, because the role of Russia in this system – a raw material appendage. Any attempt to change this role, destroy built after the collapse of the Soviet Union the world order mechanism. And exhortations of “let’s remake the mechanism under the “our role” and “new queries” (as for example did good in Munich 10 years ago) are not perceived as the reason for the discussion, and as a challenge to which we must respond. And clarifications, “But we are not building a new Soviet Union”, “we are not a superpower”, “we many not apply, but rather their own,” there’s no one to convince, but on the contrary, only reinforce the suspicion that Russia effectively destroyed the existing one and so priyatstvenno West order of things. Trade war is one of the many answers to the challenge. But the collapse of hopes, it is a reason to conduct more purposeful and self-sufficient politicians are not constrained in vain illusions.
“The main problem here of course is not lost illusions or disappointed in trump, and the overall vagueness of the General attitudes of Russia in the ongoing conflict, which is essentially a fancy symbiosis of the decisive requirements of the hegemon “make room” for attempts to “negotiate” with those who in the contract is not interested. And the story of the “defective” law signed by trump is well confirmed. At the time, in a similar situation of Germany after its unification by Bismarck when the Germans on the one hand demanded that the British Empire colonies and more than worthy of a place in the then world to revolve around London, and on the other hand tried almost to the end of “friends” with Britain, relying on dynastic ties and belonging to “Western civilization” that, as in our case, ended with the lamentations of the Kaiser that Britain failed to agree and “king Edward – schmuck”. Exactly for the same reason Germany thought that once it was United and increased in military and economic terms, the hegemon must recognize and accept the changing role and place of Germany in the world. The Germans then genuinely perplexed and offended, when Britain stiff them refused. As it is now the Russian elite genuinely offended when they are a quarter-century of “democracy”, do not want to take in the “civilized West”. Denied Germany for the same reason that the United States denied Russia the hegemon is not interested in having to rebuild the design of world domination under the demands of the “upstarts” or share with them functions it to share with anyone not going.
“So, in order not to repeat the German mistakes from such illusions should be removed in advance, and not in the process. In this regard, it is necessary to take an example from the same United States who was not engaged in exhortations, and consistently fought first upon the destruction of the hegemony of the British Empire, and then the destruction of the USSR as the main opponent in the struggle for its present place in the world. Or turn to the experience of the Soviet Union, who begged their place in the world order, and took him in his struggle with the hostile environment. And the place that Russia wants to occupy in the world, she can obtain only and exclusively in the struggle that Russia gave to understand well for 3 years.
“This does not mean that the West cannot deal with and what to negotiate. As the example of Stalin, this situation is possible under certain circumstances. But such communication is possible only if the situational coincidence of interests (as for example we see the common interests of the United States and Russia on the defeat of ISIS), or from a position of strength, which only respected in the West.”
The Liberals lose big. The bloom is off the rose. There is no rationalization that the US means to destroy Russia. Nothing covert, any longer.
The tiny “5%” got sold out by the Khazarian-neocons in DC. They hunger to kill Putin and Mother Russia now.
Arming the Ukies with TOW missiles, moving 40,000 troops up to the borders of Russia, and openly challenging the Russians to respond along the Baltics, the Western and Southern military Districts is crystal clear. No ambiguity.

An interesting read which gives Trump the ability to manouver around Congress & Senate and retain Presidential authority. Yes – this bill also hits the Russian Oligarchs/Liberals where it hurts….something that was done on purpose to get them to revolt against Putin.
This is Alexander Mecouris analysis of Trump’s statement and the ground being laid for the Supreme Court:
Trump is weak, an opportunist and a survivor: His number one concern is for himself, his number two concern is his family empire and fortune and number 3 concern is to regain US power & prestige (due to his personal nationalism).
Trump is no statesman like Putin, Modi, Havel, Mandela, Zhu-En-Lai or Lee Kwan, he is a man of ordinary and flawed character that has pride in his country like an average working class patriot.
He might have wanted better relations with Russia, but not at the expense of his own behind. Or he could have been a liar all along, taking part in a good-cop/bad-cop methodology with Russia and now playing the helpless victim card blaming Congress:
-Nobody forced his buffooness to throw Flynn under the bus, he did so out of either weakness & stupidity or he never intended keep Flynn and was leading him on about his policy shift with Russia.
Somebody on this blog mentioned that Trump represented the interests of US Oil cartel based on his speech at AIPAC. -They maybe right.
I’m just baffled how well you know exactly what Trump is thinking. Have u ever met him? Have u ever been in a position of authority before? To me it seems not since you seem to have no clue of the roadblocks you can run into or the needed compromises you must give into to get anything done.
You really need to give Trump one thing, he has balls to jump into this position with many people opposing you who have been known to kill adversaries in the past. Until you put yourself in his position or have done the things he has, just keep (removed, insulting others is not helpful either.MOD)opinions to yourself as it does nothing to help the situation.
@Outsource Justified Design.
I am equally baffled by your inability to accept the reality of Trumps feckless actions. This is what I and others are basing their criticism of “Great Uncriticisable Leader and Savior-in-Chief”, that, and his past behavior over last 20 years.
Before we get more triggered emotional responses that dispense with facts and blindly justify the unjustifiable, know this: I was very happy that Trump won the US election, he kept that bungling idiot, incompetent manager and psychopathic war monger, Hitlery Clinton, out of the White House. Trump was the lesser of two evils. He deserves full credit for decimating the establishment’s coronation of their chosen candidate as President.
Note the description: “Lesser of two evils“; (narcissism & saving your own skin by dumping those who loyally served you can be considered evil) that means he’s a very flawed and mundane individual and fully deserving of criticism. Your supposition that Trump has done things that would get others killed only proves his weakness, since those “dark forces” you alluded to, don’t consider him a enough of threat to deal with him in the manner you’ve implied (because he is so weak, flawed in character and inept).
Trump throwing Flynn under the bus was a huge strategic mistake (among so many others he’s made since), as perfectly outlined by Saker, in his rather appropriately sarcastic assessment of Trump in an article he wrote here after Flynn was dumped. It was a dumb and cowardly thing to do: he flinched in front of the deep state, hoping they’d cut him some slack (Saker correctly pointed out how stupid and cowardly that was, since it would lead to even more aggression from those entrenched interests opposed to him – they give no quarter and only reward “compromise” with even more aggression).
You have no more insight into his mind than anyone else, a rational person can only judge him by how he treats his friends and loyalists and his failure to keep his word, and we can all see how far from the mark he has fallen there.
James, I am just providing information around the signing of this bill and maybe you should read both articles before attacking the messanger – I am fully aware that his own party work against him – I have zero wishful thinking. Medvedev is an Atlantisist – Putin and Lavrov will continue to find areas to work with Trump/Tillerson and the US – they are both fully aware the deep state runs the US, this was already going on under Obama/Kerry.
Rather than attacking other commenters and telling them how to think you should make statements/analysis that add to the discussion and are backed up with facts.
@James Lake
Yip. Foolish to continue to harbor illusions about better relations. The proper mindset should be “abandon all hope” so as to prepare for the worst.
I don’t buy that Trump is finished, neutered or whatever the terms are to say he has no power now. He has massive power, he just needs to find avenues to use it. Six months is not long, only one-eighth of his elected term. Even the signing of the sanctions bill is no more than tactical level, in my estimation, and far from strategic level.
When I see something that demonstrates that Trump is failing to learn, or has given up, or is working exclusively on his golf game, then I’ll start to acknowledge that his day is done. But I just don’t see enough collateral yet to establish that he’s surrendered, or been beaten, or even changed his mind on peace with Russia. And I note that the reaction from Russia that detente is now “dead” comes not from Putin but from Medyedev. When I see it from Putin and Lavrov I’ll count it as real.
Trump is a maverick and a wild card. He has already shown up the total dysfunction of the US political establishment, and also its great powerlessness – and this has been an enormous service to the world. In such a madhouse as surrounds him, Trump could easily one day simply make a correct move, maybe even by accident, and come out on top in some areas. Anything is now possible in Washington, DC.
So I will continue to wait and see before writing Trump off as a change agent in the US, even if only from his continuing presence.
“Yet despite its problems, I am signing this bill for the sake of national unity,” Trump said. “It represents the will of the American people to see Russia take steps to improve relations with the United States. We hope there will be cooperation between our two countries on major global issues so that these sanctions will no longer be necessary.”
Since when do aipac and a gaggle of fat, drooling oligarchs represent “the will of the american people”? What pathetic, fracked up the bum turd trump made himself into.
I was curious to hear what israel’s fascist fairy freakshow (clear channel’s pindo “conservative” talk radio) had to say about trump signing over the white house to congress. They didn’t cover it while I was in earshot, but spent their time publicly masturbating over trump signing an “everybody blocked but Jews and rich white folk” emigration bill.
Which further confirms the sanctions faggotry original ates in tel aviv. The clear channel lot realise that a lot of the conservatives who support trump take the separation of powers issue very seriously (some of the clear channel zionazis pretend to be of this view, as well, the foaming zio-gay mark levin, for example). There is no way these zionazis could explain the cave without showing trump in a pitiful light, nor could they promote it without drawing attention to the constitutional issue, so they ignored it.
Instead, the sods concentrated on the emigration issue, which was arranged by zionazi, inc. for trump to promote simultaneously with his cave to congress so as to draw attention away from the constitutional issue in the sanctions bill.
Basically, an israeli power grab, a precedent setting move, for making the pindo presidency more legally bound to their orders and reducing presidential independence.
I have to admit that I am enjoying watching Russian “Atlanticists” (aka Europhiles/Cultural Sellouts) howling and screaming now that these sanctions are cutting into their pie. These were same group of sellouts that were peddling the lie that Russia’s interests lie with being a junior member of the Western club. However, now these idiots are finally getting the picture that their treason to Russia and their slavish inferiority complex laced solidarity with “western” Civilation has no value to the West.
What a well deserved kick to their sold-out hollow heads by a Western boot!
The corrupt corporate bribery riddled Washington swamp does not give a rats ass about American “ideology” about “Western Values” and free markets, they only care about money, hegemonic expansion & financial leverage. Only a total fool believes that the West cares about civic “values” and human rights.
I agree with your point. But I don’t think that will be the response from the pro-Western Russians. I think they will instead blame Putin for “pushing the West” to be against Russia. I don’t see them admitting that their Western “Gods” have feet of clay. The pro-West brainwashing is too deep among them. Maybe some of those inside the Russian government might begin to see the truth. But not those outside.
I agree with your point about the lower echelons of the sellouts, I was refering to their counterparts in the Russian political & business establishment (past apologists perhaps like Medvedev and that brand of Russian polity).
As for the blind ideologues, or “true believers”, they are about as sapient and shallow as a crazed young teenage Elvis fan: no amount of facts and logic will penetrate their blind worship.
It’s obvious that the entire political and governing structure of USA has been suborned and is now one complete and politically united entity. With this vote it is patently obvious that there is not, and has not been for years, a two party system governing US, it’s all one political block.
I think this is a far bigger disaster than Trump signing the bill. The very fact that both sides of the aisle wrote and voted for this open declaration of war against Russia clearly states reams of their real political and economic agenda. The inclusion of sanctions against Iran and NK mean nothing, they are just window dressing.
The total destruction of the north coast of Africa on the Mediterranean Sea over the last fifteen years had one agenda and one agenda only, this was to get safe access for pipelines carrying Saudi and Qatari gas and POL to the shores of the Med and the Turk borders. From there it is a relatively easy task and short distance to feed these petroleum supplies to energy hungry Europe.
Europe over the last 15 years has emasculated the production of energy materials and as a result has become ever more dependent on supplies from Russia. North Stream was built to give some bypass to the ever less dependable delivery system through Ukraine. With the steadily deteriorating political situation in Ukraine an addition was planned and is finally being built to double the capacity of North Stream.
Despite the participation of numerous European corporations in the planning and construction of North Stream 2 and the active support of this project by many European governments, I feel the project will be stopped short of completion. No matter how much Brussels and Berlin squeak in public, in private they will all bow down in submission, stop the projects and agree to buy American LPG at triple the coast and 10 times the danger of transport. Turk Stream will also be stopped before completion and the many billions of rubles spent on both projects will be down the drain.
All of this violence, death, destruction and economic turmoil from Central Africa north to the shores of the Arctic have one goal and this goal is to cut Russia off from the quite profitable business of energy supply to Europe and the hope is this cutoff will destroy the Russian economy, bring about a revolution and with it the disintegration of Russia as a nation.
The problem with this goal, hope, agenda, wish, whatever you want to call it, is the goal is based on assumptions and the assumptions are based on the thoughts of those in power who are believing their own propaganda. They are assuming that the destruction of Russian supplies of energy to Europe will destroy the Russian economy. Perhaps they should look at a map of eastern Russia and look at the gas line projects being built there to supply energy to China, a huge, growing and energy hungry country who happens to border Russia. They should also look at the ever larger projects being planned in the same area and think before they pull a knee jerk action.
To achieve this goal of the destruction of Russia, those in power in USA have now set on a course to destroy the political and economic system of one of the most powerful countries on this rock. By in essence removing the powers of the sitting president the Senate and Congress are setting themselves foursquare against the Constitution of the United States of America and opening themselves to a years long judicial confrontation with the President and the guardians of the Constitution. It remains to be seen how this confrontation will pan out but in the short run the confrontation will further hobble American politically and economically, let alone creating vast turmoil in international policy and actions.
My thoughts are this event will go down as the hallmark of the demise of The United States of America. This demise will not be sudden nor rapid. America was at her pinnacle of ‘peace’ and ‘prosperity’ between 1890 and 1960 and since ’60 has been in a slow, steady and ever increasing spiral down.
I will not live long enough to see the death of my homeland, the country I love despite all her foibles and problems, the country I left 12 years ago, I am on old man now, but many of you reading my thoughts will and if genetics hold true I will live long enough to see the vast majority of these changes and events happen that will give truth to what I’ve just written. So be it, none of us can change what Fate has ordained.
I think they also misunderstand Russia. Somehow the US leaders must think Russia is Saudi Arabia or the UAE. Where if there was no oil and gas sales people would stand around waiting to die of starvation. Before the 20th Century oil age exploded Russia a great power. And people ate and worked. Russia is not dependent on energy sales to live as a state. Yes,she depends more than I’d like on natural resource sales. But that could be changed easily. And she can start massive re-industrialization. To make up for any lost gas sales to the EU. And as you said as well. She will be selling a huge amount of energy to China. Which also lessens any loss from the EU.
I agree, UB 1. They have a totally mistaken comprehension of anything involving Russia and it shows in their dealings with Russia in the last 15 and more years.
Reality is every day Russia grows stronger and US grows more weak. In 5 years Europe will have no choice but to take Russian gas and POL at Russian terms or be cold in winter as this is how long it will take for Russia and China to complete enough of the transport projects to make Europe a nice customer to have but not a customer needed for short term economic survival, let alone long term economic growth.
However, the real disaster is the ongoing and now becoming successful coup d’etat against the sitting President of the United States of America. This in and of itself shows the weakness of the American domestic political and economic situation and bodes an evil that will slowly manifest itself over the next three years. If this coup was not so dangerous and tragic it would be almost comical to watch but USA is not some banana republic whose political situation matters not a whit in the world, this coup is extremely dangerous to peace and prosperity throughout the world.
What would be the prospects for the Europeans ?
The potential losses in energy supplies for EU is not insignificant. For the moment, I’m very sure that many economic heads are calculating already in advance the losses, from Berlin to Rome and Paris, down to Central and South-Eastern Europe. How can the Eu budget finance these losses is another question in a mid and longer term which will provoke enough headache in Brussels. And, they will have to add to this equation Ukraine, which will be totally dependent on the EU founds and yet with energy supplies. What can Ukraine offer in return, or how would she pay for the gas and oil when the winter temperatures are much lower than in the west and south of Europe and accordingly her needs are much higher in winter ? This is a very complicated issue, generated with great tuppence by the Empire and will get complicated by day. It will affect many sectors of the EU economy, the statistics of growth have to be cut down and beside that, a lot of investment programs have to be delayed or even deleted. And above all that, just a few months ago, at the NATO meeting, the European partners were asked to increase the spending for defense. How can all these be achieved ? probably by new taxes or raising the taxes and/or by printing money by the EU Central Bank. If the Empire’s strategy was/is to weaken the whole European continent and the EU in particular – as a very potential economic and political adversary – then this bill has a different meaning, much more wider in it’s scope. The old wet dream of the British Empire, namely to forbid a united Europe with Russia, will come true – at least for awhile.
The main target of course are the same two : Russia and Germany ( as in the past ) . Besides, I will not be surprised if they will try to provoke a conflict with Russia, and yes, a conventional one, just to weaken the both sides even more. Then, uncle Sam can become again the economic power who comes to help and thus keeping her monopoly afloat.
The odd part is that visually, this is much closer to how the founders thought the American system should work ….. and its how it did work up until WW2.
The founders never envisioned a ‘strong’ President. They viewed the Congress as the branch that would lead in many things. The “Executive” branch was there to “execute” the laws and decisions of Congress. Lincoln ran the Civil War with only a handful of aides and by walking across to the nearby War Dept to get telegraph reports. FDR ran WW2 with what would now seem like a ridiculously small staff.
Its only with the rise of the National Security State post-WW2 that we’ve seen a ‘strong’ President who rules more and more by executive order and by mis-stating the ‘commander-in-chief’ clause of the Constitution to execute wars without Congressional approval. We’ve seen Presidents grab more and more power to themselves, and subservient Congress’ that seemed willing to let them have the power as long as their re-elections were ensured.
Sadly, now that the American people voted against nuclear war with Russia, nows when we see a Congress that tries to reassert its power to try to turn the entire world into a nuclear cinder.

Good cartoon that sums up the Trump presidency
Why would anyone discuss anything with him or anyone in his govt – he has absolutely no power to effect change.
Obama just went to play golf Trump will do the same.

@Outsource Justified Design.
thanks for your comment…PDJT will outplayed them. He find the way.
@James Lake,
James, I am just providing information around the signing of this bill and maybe you should read both articles before attacking the messanger – I am fully aware that his own party work against him – I have zero wishful thinking.
@James Lake
Yip. Foolish to continue to harbor illusions about better relations. The proper mindset should be “abandon all hope” so as to prepare for the worst.
Yes, no ambiguity. Russia, China, Iran, will not submit. The US started this second round of a Cold War but will not win it.
Alexander Mercouris – whom I always look to especially for legal and contractual matters – has a piece at the Duran pointing out how Trump in signing the sanctions bill also deliberately paved the way for a Constitutional challenge in the future. Donald Trump and the sanctions law: Supreme Court challenge coming (full text and analysis of the Presidential Statement)
Alexander mecouris said Trump wouldn’t attack Syria and 24 hours later we know what happened
And he never cane back and said he was wrong – like to remind readers when he was right- but not the other.
There is a desperation evident to believe in Trump which is baffling
He has shown he is incapable of putting together a team to execute a programme.
And he has recruited new cons and exgoldman sachs plus the generals. To say nothing of the lack of loyalty to those who got him where he is.
thanks Grieved – I feel the same –
that last comment was mine – Ann
Agree with you …it is not over yet ..far from it.
And another Empire crumbles. Hubris is a force more destructive than any military action or financial turmoil.
Trump: Newly signed Russia sanctions law ‘seriously flawed’
https://www.rt.com/usa/398346-trump-russia-sanctions-flawed/
Zone important point:
@Bob
