What we have here is reality. According to analysts, Iran is months away from joining the Eurasian Economic Union. As for Turkey, it now has a simple choice. Stay in NATO, and be dragged into a NATO sponsored war against Iran, or turn to Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union.
That US instigated coup d’etat against Erdogan was an incredibly foolish move. Not only did it fail, as it was both poorly planned and based on wishful thinking, it turned both Erdogan and the Turks towards the East. In politics anything is possible. However, I think it is only a matter of time before Turkey leaves NATO, which will start a chain reaction inside the Alliance. According to analysts, Germany would then be the next logical candidate to leave NATO. I can see the US trying to prevent Germany from leaving, as it has troops in the country. However, how is the US going to prevent Turkey from leaving ? By starting a dual war against Iran and Turkey at the same time ? I think not.
