Does it matter when private individuals sent a latter to a head of state? Don’t their press services receive hundreds of letters every day? Yes, they do, but when somebody writes to a foreign head of state, one which is own rulers consider an enemy, this matters. It matters even more when the people writing express categorical disagreement with their own regime and support or understanding for the foreign ruler. It especially matters when they chose to do so publicly, because they know that they are exposing themselves to a chauvinistic backlash from all the doubleplusgoodthinking loyal TV-watching “true patriots” whose opinion happens to be best expressed by the MSM. In this case, the foreign head of state is, in my opinion, by far the most hated and vilified “Hitler of the moment” since the “new Hitlers parade” began with Saddam and Milosevic – Vladimir Putin – and that makes such open letter truly very significant.
To me, as Russian born in the West, it is very important to show that there is what I call “another West” which is both fully aware of what is going on and totally opposed to it. At the end of the day, we can hate the regimes in power, and we can feel disgusted by the zombies who support them, but we must always remember that the proportion of sober minded and honorable people is the same in any country and that we should always remember the “righteous men who save the city” (if even 10 is good enough for God, surely it should be good enough for us).
Today, I am posting two such letters. One sent to me by its author, one posted elsewhere on the Internet.
The Saker
UPDATE: I got a warning that the putative author of the 2nd letter now denies having written it. Okay, so it is either a fake, or he had cold feet. Either way, I will still leave it – it is better than removing it – but I will strikeout the full text. As for the first letter, I assure you that it is genuine, as I got it directly from its author.

President Putin,
In this period of turmoil, I would like to express my shame and sorrow over the treatment, by the mass media in the West, of Russia in connection with events in Ukraine. Please be aware that not all Americans believe what is said by the likes of Barack Obama, a mere stuffed suit raised from obscurity to prove to Americans that the United States is a democracy, or John Kerry, a thoroughly corrupt career politician whose only priority is servile obedience to corporate power. I grew up in the Midwest, a typical American under the thrall of the empire’s doctrinal system, but during the Reagan Administration I was radicalised. There are many decent Americans who share my experience. I became a high school teacher, and have made a career out of opening students’ eyes to the dysfunctions of “the American Way”. I did not fall for the blandishments of Bill Clinton, whose Administration colluded in looting Russia after the breakup of the Soviet Union; and during the G.W. Bush term in office I emigrated to New Zealand with my family, having come to the conclusion that no amount of social commitment or direct action could alter America’s destructive behaviour.
I write to you in hopes that my words, meagre as they are, will give you a little strength in your struggle to lead Russia’s people into the Twenty-first century and beyond. Please do not give up. A by-product of your efforts will be a better world for all of earth’s inhabitants. This is the second time that Russia has saved the world from what is essentially Nazism (I speak here not of the fascists in Kiev, but of their masters in Washington, D.C.). Yes, I understand very well that it was the Soviet Union that broke the back of the Wehrmacht in World War II; that America and Britain had little to do with Germany’s defeat. I also understand that the United States is fully committed to balkanising Russia and to eliminating, by whatever means (no matter how murderous or immoral), any threat to its control over the world. Full commitment, however, does not equate with ability, nor does it guarantee success. In the case of the United States, full commitment means simply the taking of increasingly insane risks. The destruction of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 seems a case in point. Whether the event was a false flag operation designed to isolate Russia and force you from office or an assassination attempt, the decision-making that lead to Washington’s giving Kiev a green light is insane, but this is the state of thinking in the United States at present. The empire is crumbling, and its masters are in a blind frenzy to reverse the disintegration.
The death-throes of any powerful entity are dangerous for everyone in its vicinity. This is just as true of the United States as it would be of a shark. The danger is real. Please be mindful, be safe, and continue to use whatever power you possess to end the threat that the United States poses to the world. I say this as a citizen not only of the former, but also of the latter.
Yours Sincerely,
David Lemire

Dear Mr. President Putin
Please accept our apologies on behalf of a great many people here in the Netherlands for our Government and our Media. The facts concerning MH17 are twisted to defame you and your country. We are powerless onlookers, as we witness how the Western Nations, led by the United States, accuse Russia of crimes they commit themselves more than anybody else.We reject the double standards that are used for Russia and the West. In our societies, sufficient evidence is required for a conviction. The way you and your Nation are convicted for ‘crimes’ without evidence, is ruthless and despicable. You have saved us from a conflict in Syria that could have escalated into a World War. The mass killing of innocent Syrian civilians through gassing by ‘Al-Qaeda’ terrorists, trained and armed by the US and paid for by Saudi Arabia, was blamed on Assad. In doing so, the West hoped public opinion would turn against Assad, paving the way for an attack on Syria. Not long after this, Western forces have built up, trained and armed an ‘opposition’ in the Ukraine, to prepare a coup against the legitimate Government in Kiev. The putschists taking over were quickly recognized by Western Governments. They were provided with loans from our tax money to prop their new Government up. The people of the Crimea did not agree with this and showed this with peaceful demonstrations. Anonymous snipers and violence by Ukrainian troops turned these demonstrations into demands for independence from Kiev. Whether you support these separatist movements is immaterial, considering the blatant Imperialism of the West.Russia is wrongly accused, without evidence or investigation, of delivering the weapons systems that allegedly brought down MH17. For this reason Western Governments claim they have a right to economically pressure Russia. We, awake citizens of the West, who see the lies and machinations of our Governments, wish to offer you our apologies for what is done in our name. It’s unfortunately true, that our media have lost all independence and are just mouthpieces for the Powers that Be. Because of this, Western people tend to have a warped view of reality and are unable to hold their politicians to account. Our hopes are focused on your wisdom. We want Peace. We see that Western Governments do not serve the people but are working towards a New World Order. The destruction of sovereign nations and the killing of millions of innocent people is, seemingly, a price worth paying for them, to achieve this goal. We, the people of the Netherlands, want Peace and Justice, also for and with Russia.
We hope to make clear that the Dutch Government speaks for itself only. We pray our efforts will help to diffuse the rising tensions between our Nations.Sincerely, Professor Cees Hamelink
This is a copy of my letter to my Member of the UK Parliament with regards the shooting down of MA17.
My MP has replied in that he has forwarded my letter to the UK Foreign Minister for him reply on behalf of the UK government.
Dear Mr Thornton
Will you please ask the following questions on my behalf to the relevant ministers including the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary and Home Office ministers.
Why has no official report been published with regard the evidence produced by the MH17 Black Boxes at RAE Farnborough?
When will such evidence be made public?
Would ministers agree that if no such evidence is published then it is logical to assume that evidence produced by the Russian government is a true statement of what actually happened?
Would ministers also agree that they are supporting and abetting a Nazi Fascist Ukrainian junta in not providing or making such evidence available, especially to the Malaysian authorities, and that in doing so are open to the argument that they themselves are actually fascists?
“Transcarpathia” – a made up entity that by right should disintegrate, with the largest chunk going to Hungary and the Maramures part to Romania. Uncle Sam wouldn’t support this, primarily because Hungary is in his black book, and I’d hate for the Rumanians — the people, not their US satrapy government — to have a reason to be grateful to Uncle Sam, whom they resent for turning their country into a military base.
Why aren’t Hungarian scientists called to work on the Tisza study? It’s their biggest river after the “blue” one. I guess Hungarians are “suspect”– too much covert (and cautiously overt) anti-EU and pro-Russia attitude…
Transnistria — another made up entity: it’s Russia, plain and simple, always has been. The people should pull a “Crimea” and ask Russia to accept them.
Moldavia — a made up state from the land stolen by the Soviets from Romania. Laughable that their official language is called “Moldavian” (it is Romanian) –like saying the language spoken in Texas is … “Texan.”
Moldova (including Bessarabia and Bukovina) should reunite with Romania, except that again, should Uncle Sam acquiesce to this Romanians (the people) might start feeling grateful to him, and that would be a shame…
A
Being an American of Netherlander ancestry I approve of both letters.
My Dear Professor Cees Hamelink you are a bigot.
I say this because you use term “Western Nations” against Russia.
There are no Western Nations because since when is Romania a western nation?
Is western nation every rubbish who is willing listen to America to fight Russia?
In brief, my dear professor, if you used term America and its vassals I would believe that your intentions are sincere.

Well in most cases a personal letter is only good for propaganda purposes. The person you are writing to has to have a soul to even appreciate the danger posed to you by doing so. Do you think someone writing a similar letter to say Obhama asking him not to drone their relatives in Yemen or Pakistan would be wise? Most likely you would end up on the to do list. Most likely someone openly writing a letter to someone like Putin or Castro would also end up on the very same list.
My response to both letters – Bravo!
The key to getting Americans to understand and/or sympathize with Russian actions is an understanding of what was done to Ukraine and Russia by the Nazis in WWII.
Unfortunately most of us –myself included –don’t know a lot about European history.

Hi everybody.
What do you guys think of this?
– Canadian Ukraine election Monitoring Missions questioned in new report –
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canadian-ukraine-election-monitoring-missions-questioned-in-new-report-1.2712962
” A new internal government report has once again raised questions about the Harper government’s penchant for sending large teams of Canadian election monitors to Ukraine.
…
Ottawa sent about 350 people to monitor the May 25 presidential ballot in Ukraine in a Canadian-led bilateral mission. “
Everybody has been surprised Porco’chenko won the last election in one turn. ONE turn!
Wasn’t a new face in town, and already labelled as a corrupt oligarch by the people of Ukraine.
Could this be how “They” did it? … or I am being too psychic here?
The “Pure, Democratic West” sending their teams help monitoring foreign countries elections … and voila!
Wish it was not so, but Dutch professor Cees Hamelink has denied writing/signing the letter. My joy about my home country having at least one intellectual openly speaking out against the large scale indiscriminate shelling of civilians with heavy artillery, didn’t last long… Dutch intellectuals do not seem to care much about the ethnic cleansing in East Ukraine, not even when neo-nazis/fascists are involved.
Write write write those letters.
They have an effect.
I often write harshly critical letters (usually including a compliment) to my local newspaper the Toronto Star.
I have occaisonally been shocked by what they’ve been willing to publish. I am always conscious that it is a person, not an institution, that reads these letters. Most of these people are just as frustrated and upset about the garbage their once beloved place of work has devolved into.
In many cases I write letters which will certainly never be published. I do this because I am engaing in a conversation with people who may or may not have editorial influence. It is good that they understand that their daily propaganda is not taking with people who can think for themselves.
The letter below was published under the headline:
We’re all East Ukranians now online and Maybe we’re all East Ukrainians now in the published edition.
This election ‘fix’ won’t fly, Editorial April 17
Stephen Harper’s election “fix” may not fly but six CF-18s will — on their way to Europe in defense of the putschists in Kiev. This while the “regime” in Ottawa forces through legislation that will institutionalize heinous U.S.-style voter supression tactics and include a loophole that permits virtually unlimited spending by political parties during election campaigns.
I am struggling to limit the hyperbole in this letter. Somehow our insane electoral system has entitled the Prime Minister to dismantle democracy in this fantastic country with the support of just 24 per cent of registered voters in 2011. He will return to us a bitumen-bananastan when we finally kick him to the curb in 2015 or 2016; assuming we get the chance.
According to Google translate, “bandyta” is the Ukrainian word for bandit or gangster. It will be useful to know since, in the eyes of our illegitimate government, we are all east Ukrainians now.
Whether you believe it or not, you can have an effect. I have also written letters to Federal party leaders in Canada as well as to various politicians including one very angry letter to a person who was openly supportive of the MEK.
In the case of the Star, I wrote several strongly worded letters to the Star regarding Syrian refugees and how their utterly hypocritical coverage was unacceptable. Although the letters were unpublished the paper responded a few weeks later by launching a PR campaign in support of Syrian children. It was evident to me that the editors decided they had a perception problem which they tried to respond to. In so doing, they further revealed their own confusion and hypocrisy.
Trust me — you can and will be heard if you’ll only just try.
And here is my letter to an Australian loose cannon, Senator Jacqui Lambie, who may well become electorally very popular though I fear she lacks sufficient vision or cunning. Recently the “Palmer United Party” won the federal balance of power from an electorate that despises both major parties.
Quote:
If you come to see Mr Palmer as a passing flare concerned with personal before national interests, you must fear inevitable AEC [Oz Electoral Commission] alterations will wipe out the independents. Because media have been interested to amplify your candid manners, you have the potential to attract frantic patriotic sentiment by articulating what is on the electorate’s mind. This is seldom done. You have the potential to replace Palmer as a magnet for popular hope if necessary.
Copied below are texts of notes emailed to you at Parliament House.
(25July14) PUP can excite media, enhance electoral appeal *by presuming US proxies did MH17, *that evidence of Russian guilt is absent, *by opposing sending ours to guard the crash site and *by condemning Abbot/Cosgrove for backing our “dangerous allies.” US power is deep into terminal crisis because of emerging BRICS influence. Are we backing losers?
(25July14) PUP can attract electoral popularity by declaring that our defence procurement has been the gravy train of foreigners. We produce virtually none of own war stores. We need no cutting-edge ships & planes; certainly the F35 is a brazen design fraud representing the most brazen strong-arm swindle in military history—a coffin waiting to go down. Australian defence needs no offensive weaponry because no nation even looks like threatening us, except perhaps our dangerous ally, the dying US super rogue. We need only defensive, Australian refined, hypersonic missile technology because it has rendered the war ship, the war plane and the battle tank obsolete. Now, a million dollar missile trumps a zillion dollar carrier. To guard our coasts we need robots and a few gun boats, built and refined here.
(27July14) An ABC commentator sneered that Jacqui Lambie “speaks fluent average Australian voter.” He recognises that you have the potential to accumulate immense influence. If you can see yourself announcing a conclusion that, say, Abbot and Cosgrove deserve death as ratified accessories after the MH17 fact, then your staff should précis the overwhelming irrefutable evidence that the crime was a false flag directed by Washington and botched by Kiev:- MH17 should have crashed in Russia.
(5Aug14) You would build your prestige if you declare the big 4 banks a monopoly in grand theft since computers collapsed the cost of banking services. The electorate knows scandalous bank profits are above the law. Call them obscene. Since WWI, banks and governments drained local money to build the few mega-cities. Banks lend for a high rise match box but not for regional wealth creation. The country is empty because there is no money out there. Meanwhile the electorate chokes at rush hour. You can declare the vast suburbs the product of specifically financial crime. Banks must prioritise rural lending or be treated as criminals if they hesitate/refuse.
7Aug14 To focus the hopes of our frantic electorate upon yourself you may say, but only on the Senate floor that *proof that racism does not exist is that it is only ever hurled at whites; *evidence is overwhelming that MH17 was hit by 30mm AP/HE gatling cannon fire from Su-27 directly at the pilot/cockpit, and that bodies were already decomposed. Add that there is zero evidence that MH370 crashed anywhere, and that the suggestion is absurd that it was not under routine surveillance from Pine Gap and Diego Garcia.
11Aug14 Senator Lambie might enhance her name by declaring/repeating that we have a country to rebuild, but that this will not be possible until the government domesticates the banks that refuse to lend for rural wealth creation.
Hopefully, some of this means something useful to you.
Sincerely.
One more thing.
Another way to Resist is with satire.
I doubt anything has greater power to change people’s minds.
Recently we had a provincial election where I live and towards the end of the campaign I thought who I wanted to vote for was Vladimir Putin.
It was then that I had the idea of making a Vote Vladimir Putin sign and putting that on my lawn instead of the sign of one of our useless local candidates.
What would the ruling establishment do if during the next Canadian election a plethora of Vote Vladimir Putin signs started appearing on the lawns of Harper ruled Canada?
A picture or two, maybe adjacent to the signs of other candidates during the next federal election could easily be posted online and maybe go viral in respect of the utter contempt many people for our modern political class.
Use your creativity and have some balls. Our ability to stop the Anglo-Zionist World War has never been greater.
please supply the source stating that Professor Cees Hamelink’s letter is fake.
there must be a link verifying this.
