Inquiring minds what to know:
How come the satellite footage in Syria gives great pictures of Russian planes and tanks, while it is not possible to provide a single good picture of the hundreds of Russian tanks in Ukraine?
Interesting, they do have great quality satellite photos of equipment that is stationed on Russian territory or in disputed Crimea. However, once it comes to Donbas, those pictures lose a huge share of their quality, precision and detail. They become blurry to say the least and the only “considerably credible” way, that authors use to make them depict “Russian or Russian-manned hardware” is association with dubious photos from VK and “written testimonies”.

Is China preparing for a major financial event?
China has recently made some unprecedented “blink-and-you’ll-miss them”-moves, which indicate that a financial tectonic shift is underway. Here is a slow-motion break down of developments so far.
The timeline starts in August 2015:
IMF refused China’s request to include the Yuan/RMB in their currency basket. They justified their refusal by explaining that the Yuan was a tightly controlled currency, and even though it was used in bilateral trade transactions it was rarely being used in international debt transaction [source]
Following the IMF decision, China promptly replied that they wished for their currency to be “more reflective of market conditions” and they proceeded to de-peg the Yuan from the dollar. [source]
Predictably, mainstream media went ballistic, how dare China manipulate its currency to gain a trade advantage? It’s unfair competition, a provocation. [source]
Even Donald Trump, presidential candidate, weighed in saying China was “sucking money out of the by unfairly devaluing their currency” [source]
Objective analysis puts the Chinese action into perspective: the removal of the peg created a devaluation that was of only 2-3% compared to the dollar. The Yuan is still strong compared to many emerging market other currencies. The trade advantage argument doesn’t hold water. So why the fuss and angry reaction from the Anglo-American mainstream media?
Why was this currency peg so important?
Possible answer: The Currency peg allowed the US to maintain the value of the dollar in spite of persistent trade deficits. [source]

One important point about Chinese holdings of US currency and T-bills: People tend to feel that as long as China holds a bunch, they’re vulnerable to drops in the US dollar. But we forget that it’s relative. If the US dollar drops, it drops against other currencies, which is to say those other currencies rise. As long as Chinese holdings of US dollars represent less than half their holdings of foreign currencies, they’ll break even on any drop in the dollar, or even gain.
Yep, China can short the dollar while it divests itself of the T-bills and make money in the end. At another venue I commented that Yukos shareholders would be unlikely to get one kopek, to which a reply asked for the value of a kopek: the metal value of one kopek is about $0.011, while the metal value of a penny is $0.004. And furthermore, the metal value of the Presidential Dollar coin is just under 4cents–$0.04. Talk about debasing your coinage. So, Russian money has a higher value that that of the Outlaw Empire!! Amazing!!

Last time I checked there is no obligation of any kind to “be nice” to any part of the imperial system of oppression of which the Pope is, of course, a central part. Absolutely no ad hominems or personal attacks. Two big reasons why Volkswagen got busted:

Everyone seems to believe that China has the ability to collapse the dollar by dumping all her treasuries. But is that true? Because look at this:

According to Chinese news, china was anticipating having the yuan accepted by the IMF as a reserve currency to be used in world trade.
I could not see the US allowing the IMF to include the yuan. The IMF rejected the yuan a few days ago apparently, so if China really did think the IMF would allow the yuan to compete with the dollar as a world reserve currency, then those illusions are now gone.
We will now have to see what China’s plan B is to have its currency used for word trade.
A currency is commodity with its market value just like any other commodity. If there is too much supply in the market, the value plunges. If there is too much demand in the market, the value rises, just like like any commodity.
If a currency is pegged to USDollar, then that currency doesn’t become a commodity, and might as well use the USD instead.

Citibank did a few simulations on the effect of the sale of USTreasuries, and they showed that if foreign holders reduce their UST holdings by only 10% this translates into yield rise by a “mammoth 108 bp”. i.e. more than 1%.
Right now the US can only handle interest rates between 0- 0.25%.
So yes, even though Chinese hold “only 8%” of the total debt US debt, they can still significantly affect the UST yield and directly increase the US government’s borrowing costs.
