Dear friends,
As you can see, the new blog is still down. I was told by my IT specialist that it will be back up tonight. As soon as I know something I will let you know too.
Guys, Hebrew is not the second language in the Ukraine. Rate your sources, okay?
(FYI – What is true is that the junta wants to make English the second language).
Gubarev was shot at. There are plenty of photos of his car here.
Colonel Cassad (I consider his one of the best sources on the Ukraine) has a very good photo of what I would call “politics in Banderastan”.
A ‘civilizational choice’ indeed |
Igor Strelkov, which some “hurray-patriots” had declared as being held prisoner in Putin dungeons, is alive and well, he just visited Cossacks in Crimea:
Strelkov with Cossacks in Crimea |
But as to why he does not seem to be doing very much of anything – you guess is as good as mine.
As for Poroshenko and the Ukie Rada, they just passed a new law making the day of the founding of the Banderist “Ukrainian Insurgent Army” (the Nazi Ukies of WWII) the official “Day of the Defender of the Fatherland”. Of course, nobody in the “West” seems to have noticed.
Just as western “human rights defenders” are not at all interested in the massive violations of human rights in the Ukraine.
I will be gone all day, so I leave you with the usual “open thread” which I will try to moderate as often as I can.
Kind regards to all,
The Saker
Well, with all of the silliness going on in the world at large; it’s nice to find some sanity here at the Saker.
Cheers and keep up the excellent blog…
What is just amazing is that a genocidal racist country like the US has been able to portray itself as the bastion of democracy and freedom to the rest of the world using revisionist history and propaganda. Even the Americans themselves have no idea their country is such a thug on par with the worst of humanity. Maybe like Chomsky said that the pain of knowing was so bad that even those who knew suppressed it knowing just how bad it was. Rom never held a candle to this and it was Hitlers dream and ambition that he could never emulate his idols since he did not have that much power and he admired how easily the US was able to do so much of what he himself wanted to in the realms of eugenics. This history is being repeated currently and has been done so many times before that you got to be an idiot to not see it. Whats worse is most Americans think the peanut president was a peace-nick and weak when he was one of the worst human animals that inhabited the earth. So they expected even greater brutality from the government that would be considered strong and exceptional.
Out of a total population of just under 8 million, it is estimated that 1.7 million people died under Khmer Rouge rule from execution, hunger and overwork. During its four years of rule, the Khmer Rouge achieved a record of barbarism rarely equaled in history.
the Khmer Rouge launched numerous cross-border raids, burning down villages and massacring their inhabitants. In all, around 30,000 Vietnamese civilians lost their lives in the attacks.
U.S. National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski “himself claims that he concocted the idea of persuading Thailand to cooperate fully with China in its efforts to rebuild the Khmer Rouge.” Brzezinski said, “I encouraged the Chinese to support Pol Pot. I encouraged the Thai to help the D.K. [Khmer Rouge government-in-exile of Democratic Kampuchea].
On the political front, in 1979 the United States and China wielded their influence and pushed through a vote in the UN General Assembly in favor of granting Cambodia’s UN seat to the ousted Khmer Rouge regime, and terminated a UN investigation into Khmer Rouge crimes. The following year, the United States again supported the Khmer Rouge in the UN as the “legitimate” representative of the Cambodian people. With U.S. backing, Cambodia would continue to be represented in the United Nations by a Khmer Rouge diplomat until 1993.
The Carter Administration urged international aid organizations to cut off assistance and aid to Vietnam for having swept Khmer Rouge leader Pol Pot from power. Nearly all non-socialist nations responded by severing aid to both Vietnam and Cambodia. The United States and its allies held enough votes to ensure that the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank cut off loans to Cambodia and Vietnam. Although the United States would not grant licenses to non-governmental organizations to provide aid to alleviate hunger within Cambodia,
The first international conference to address the conflict in Cambodia took place in 1981. China and the United States pointedly excluded Cambodia from the conference, regarding the Cambodian government as having no right to a say in the future of its people. When ASEAN countries proposed disarming the Khmer Rouge, U.S. representatives pressured them into abandoning their position.
In 1985, U.S. Secretary of State George Schulz visited Thailand and warned ASEAN diplomats to be careful in drafting peace proposals or the Vietnamese might accept them.

Anyone see the similarities in Syria and Ukraine?
The Saudi’s and their collaborators have sold 150 million barrels of oil since June in the futures markets and dumping oil at market rates into the cash markets to crater the Oil prices. Even for the Saudis this would be like a 3 month output at full bore. If Russia holds Oil sales for a week, it would blow up most western financial institutions. A week would cost Russia almost fifty billion US$.. But low oil prices cause that kind of damage in a few months anyway.
It would really hurt Russia but it would call the Saudi bluff and they would dare not use it again. It would be something to keep in mind in a few months after the US shale oil operators file for BK. Of course there might not be a financial system to get back to after such a movie. Here again we come to the same things, die slowly by a thousand cuts or survive on a much smaller scale.. If Russia can get Iran and Venezuela on board that would pretty much destroy the entire oil cartel markets. What the US usually does is one something dies from the thousand cuts, they go in and buy it out really cheap.. Then fix it upper and take it to new highs. Remember how the Internet was built..
am I the only one to see that the pic with the chain swinger as a fake, posed pic? not one face is looking at him, all focused on the police, who are not taking evasive actions.

According to NBC News Obama’s overall rating has dropped to the “record low” of ….. 42%.
I find it very hard to believe, after his many unpopular measures (gutting of the constitutional rights, arming of many govmt agencies, Obamacare, Iraq, Ukraine etc) that his rating is still at 42%. If I had to hazard a guess I would think 10-20% more believable – but maybe I’m extrapolating from France?

found at MoA, a commenter clears up the confusion of who are the Allies/enemies in the Middle east::
ARE you confused about what’s going on in the Middle East? Allow me to explain.
We support the Iraqi government in the fight against the Islamic State. We don’t like IS, but IS is supported by Saudi Arabia, whom we do like.
We don’t like President Assad in Syria. We support the fight against him, but not IS, which is also fighting against him.
We don’t like Iran, but Iran supports the Iraqi government against IS. So, some of our friends support our enemies and some of our enemies are our friends, and some of our enemies are fighting against our other enemies, whom we want to lose, but we don’t want our enemies who are fighting our other enemies to win.
If the people we want to defeat are defeated, they might be replaced by people we like even less. And all this was started by us invading a country to drive out terrorists who surely actually they’re to begin with until we went in to drive them out.
Do you understand now?

Ummmm…not sure I agree with your comment that “Stelkov isn’t doing anything”. Maybe he’s not doing what YOU want — but he’s obviously doing something. And maybe he’s being “saved” vs. “sacrificed” for BIGGER fish.
Jesus Christ (and I don’t invoke THAT name lightly) you guys are constantly bitching about everything. Things are heading in your general direction — and you BITCH. And then complain about Anglo-Saxon (I will not use ZIONIST in connection to MY backgrounds or beliefs — you do as you choose — I CHOOSE not) intransigence. Maybe — JUST maybe — we’re all working toward the same goal. Human-freedom.
I realize there’s evil in this world. And I know there’s evil that’s taken hold of the US govt. And its up to each American to combat it. It’s the application of BDS toward everything that the sos (synagog of satan) stands for. But you need to be aware that your divisive comments will turn away average Americans who do NOT wish to support evil. And its the SAME evil that enslaved Russians for 100 years. And now its enslaving Americans. So perhaps you should cheer-on our efforts to BDS evil — rather than call us out as infidels. Are you guys really Christians? Really? Think about it. Oh. And a big FU to those who call me out for “whinging” whilst they constantly whinge about every move Putin makes. Good Lord. If I were Putin I’d get tired of the sheer INGRATITUDE for what he’s accomplished. Against pretty incredible odds. He’s your George Washington. So be grateful. Bitchez.

President of Ukraine
Official Website
16.10.2014 22:00
Press office of President
President signed Law “On Special Order of Local Government in Certain Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions”
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed Law “On Special Order of Local Government in Certain Districts of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions”.
Document № 1680-VII defines temporary order of local government in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
The main purpose is to create conditions for prompt normalization of the situation, restoration of legal order, constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens, return of internally displaced persons, restoration of life-sustaining activity in inhabited localities and development of these territories. Also, rights and legitimate interests of legal entities are being restored.
Special order in these districts is introduced by the given law for three years since the date of its publication.
The Ukrainian legislation in certain districts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions is applied with consideration of peculiarities stipulated by the given document.
Governance in the cities, towns and villages is carried out by territorial communities through local government bodies under the Constitution and the Laws of Ukraine. Powers of local councils and officials elected in the course of the extraordinary elections scheduled by the Verkhovna Rada will not be terminated early. Extraordinary local elections in these districts are scheduled for December 7, 2014.
The document also specifies the way of coordinating the activity between local government of these districts and central and executive government.
Moreover, the Law stipulates mechanisms of state support of socio-economic development of these districts through the introduction of the regime of business and investment activity aimed at restoration of industrial objects, infrastructure, housing facilities, reorientation of industrial capacity, creation of new jobs.
Under the Law, the state guarantees prevention of criminal prosecution, criminal and administrative liability and punishment of persons-participants of the events in these districts. To protect public order, local government will create people’s militia units.
The law shall enter into force on the day of its publication.
Follow-on to yesterday’s post quoting pres Madura saying he’s going to introduce something at next OPEC meeting end of NOV/14.
BTW, Oilprice is a well-known big-oil bought & paid for shill site, & never stops frothing foaming & fuming for even 1 article raving against anyone anywhere not toeing the hard neocon line.
Oil prices continue to slide, putting enormous pressure on oil producers around the world.
Saudi Arabia has insisted it is willing to live with lower prices for quite a while as it seeks to maintain a grip on its market share. Kuwait also indicated its willingness to slash prices in order to keep output level. That sent oil prices lower on Oct. 14, as the markets reacted with a bit of surprise to the unwavering stance by OPEC’s leading members: WTI dropped 4.5 percent.
Lower oil prices are putting a strain on all producers, including Saudi Arabia, but Riyadh is hoping that the economic pain will be much greater for some of its competitors. That includes U.S. shale producers, which have higher average production costs.
In fact, an estimated 2.8 percent of total worldwide oil production could become unprofitable if oil prices drop below $80 per barrel, according to a new report from the IEA. Canadian oil sands projects topped the list, but U.S. shale might not be far behind.

As you may have noticed the semi house-trained inmates of the Australian political menagerie are savaging one another in the quest to produce the most vicious abuse of Putin. Not just our maniacal proto-fascist PM Tony Abbott, who threatened to ‘shirt-front’ Putin (a physical attack taken from a front on collision in our local football)when I reckon he meant to say ‘confront’. Unfortunately Tony, a florid psychopath, also seems to be in the early stages of dementia, ever more finding the appropriate words difficult to drag out of the morass of his ‘mind’. You may be familiar with his wonderful malapropism, denying that he was the ‘suppository of all wisdom’. Half correct, at least.
Not content, the Opposition Leader Shorten, a very sad specimen of humanity who wears his idiocy on his face like some badge of honour, started screeching about Putin and ‘the terrorists’ (probably after the votes of our belligerent Ukrainian emigre community, the detritus of WW2 fascists who made it here after their defeat, and now favourites of the local MSM)’murdering’ the MH17 victims. Just why they would deliberately murder those people is as inexplicable as why Assad would use poison gas in Damascus as UN inspectors were only a few miles away. Needless to say such questions are considered treason, ‘Thought Crime’ and disloyalty to ‘Team Australia’.
Putin is supposed to visit Brisbane next month for the G20. I would advise him to give it a miss. Indeed if he and Xi did withdraw it might give an impetus to the quickening economic collapse in the West. If Putin was here I would hope that his security was ultra-tight. I wouldn’t trust local security at all, because eliminating Putin is the West’s dearest hope right now. I can imagine a fevered local Ukrainian ‘patriot’ fitting the Lee Harvey Oswald role, too.

Sorry Joe but I think your theory about chain swinging ‘protester’ being a fake is flawed.
1. the same chain swinger has been shown on video lashing at the police who have been seen to stay locked in their wall.
2. If you enlarge the photo you can see at least two other demonstrators looking over at the chain swinger.
3. there are plenty of other images of chain swingers (even with spiked balls at the end of the chain) from elsewhere in Ukraine.
Not sure what your point is?

I too happen to believe, that the decline in oil prices is a deliberate policy which aims at: a.) reviving growth after everything else has failed and to b) bankrupt Russia similar to the oil price slump in the 1980ies. Here is, what I wrote in my blog
http://staatsstreich.at/oil-prices-a-repeat-of-1985-will-trigger-a-supply-crisis.html
When I put this up for discussion in another blog, all I heard was: simplistic, conspiracy theory, Saudis never flooded the market in the 1980ies etc.
So: Can you corroborate your claim, that the Saudis sold 150 mn barrels in advance ? Thanks ! Andreas
The blog “Territory of the Lynx” makes an analysis of the current political and military situation in the Donbass. At least I clarified me some about battalions theme with which I was making a little mess.
It is a question that is asking themselves both the blogger as people: Akhmetov, whose in the Kremlin this man is in Novorossia?
And, why not mines this oligarch ownes are nationalized?
The sooner they clarify this and this point of friction (Akhmetov)is removed, the better to trust again both people and militias.

I have posted here in several of my comments that Ukraine is where the U.S.$ and NATO went to die, met their collective Waterloo.
A View from Europe. Today 16th, October 2014 marks the start of the very important ASEM Summit in Milan:
LEAP2020: Global systemic crisis – 2015: The world is defecting to the East:
{Extracts}
Two important facts emerge from the past four weeks’ news. First, China is becoming the world’s largest economic power, officially overtaking the US, based on GDP measured in purchasing power terms (IMF figures) of $17.61 trillion (compared to $17.4 trillion for the US). If the official media hasn’t raised the slightest eyebrow to this information, our team believes that it’s an historic event: the US is no longer the world’s largest economic power and, inevitably, that changes everything ! (1)
Especially as, in addition to crossing this threshold, the US, after having tried to impress the world with an overflowing militarism during the Ukrainian crisis, is revealing a major strategic weakness in its “management” of the Iraqi crisis. A strong-arm policy which seemed to require the world to remain under US tutelage for an as yet undefined time is coming to an end.
Both these two indicators enable us to see the beginnings of a major turning point in the unfolding of the global systemic crisis: a tilt from a US world to a Chinese world…
Europe, Russia – Setting up a Chinese-style Marshall plan
This obvious emergence of the Chinese player was precipitated by the Ukrainian crisis. Whilst it was in China’s interest to develop its emergence from under the radar, […]
All this activity between Europe, Russia and China will culminate in the coming days with the ASEM summit in Milan on the 16 and 17 October. This event has every chance of leaving its mark in the history books, as it will connect Europe and Asia together and provide the platform to resolve the Euro crisis, the Ukrainian crisis, the Euro-Russian crisis, the global systemic crisis,… thus allowing the transition to the world after the crisis[..]
The success of this meeting will make clear to everyone the contrast between the perspectives offered by the alliance with the US (where it is mainly a question of war) and those offered by a strategic rapprochement with Asia (where it is mainly a question of economic recovery (7)).[..]

Elsi asks
“…It is a question that is asking themselves both the blogger as people: Akhmetov, whose in the Kremlin this man is in Novorossia?

Akhmetov originally sided with separatists (carefully) then had to pull back a bit (pressure from the others, I guess). Because he owns half of Donbass he has the most to lose. Clearly he sat on the fence, to see who he has to be friends with later.
So far they have said they will “temporarily” take over the mines, not nationalise them. This is to get them back working (they need the coal and they want people to have jobs so the can buy food). Under threat of nationalisation, Akhmetov might be prepared to negotiate things like paying taxes to the new State. He is not evil. He has a charitable foundation that does good work, mostly in the health and children’s fields.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundation_for_Development_of_Ukraine
Of course it also provides for families of miners killed in his mines, which on the other hand don’t have the best safety record…..
@ Anonymous re the Cassad blog…. Zakharchenko arresting Motorola fighters etc… Motorola himself is in favour of military rule. He and some others (including Strelkov) seem to think it is still always about war and fighting. Some others go on about ideology. None seem to have plans for making life normal again for the population. It does not surprise me they get pulled in for a little talk, “at least shut up stop stirring discontent”.
They all complained 2 weeks ago about Zakh taking away all their tanks. Guess what? the tanks are now all in a huge factory being REPAIRED.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgsaWK4UIWA
Meanwhile they can’t go off on expeditions that openly break the ceasefire; they can do clever ambush jobs which they’ve managed to get 5 or 6 villages back with.

Dunno about the Canadians, but the US ones will welcome this. Fracking is turning unprofitable as it is, and politically problematic in many places. If they just stop, they will lose a lot money. If they are forced into bankruptcy they don’t have to pay the debts. They’ll start up again later, in other countries, where regulations are weaker or cheaper to buy off. Lke for example Ukraine, where they want to turn the whole Slavyansk region’s lovely wall-to-wall food-growing fields into something like this
http://www.bbj.hu/energy-environment/fracking-for-hungary-minister-describes-hungarys-neutral-position_66556
Sadly, Hungary did end up allowing it. So far the company is bleeding money ($30 million in a few months last year)and there’s some asset-swapping going on with another company, to do with foreign investment percentages for some other project. It seems to be mostly a share buying/selling Ponzi scheme rather than a fracking operation, while there is growing local opposition everywhere to any actual fracking. They’d save money by going bankrupt, too.
Dear The Saker,
UNSC permanent non-mebers are:
Venezuela, Malaysia, Angola and New Zealand have won seats on the United Nations Security Council for two years from January 1, 2015. A runoff vote is also underway to find out if either Spain or Turkey will fill the fifth place available.
The 193-member UN General Assembly voted for Venezuela by 181 votes, Malaysia picked up 187, while Angola scored 190 and New Zealand 145.
Spain after 2nd round 132. Turkey only got 60.

At the recent Caspian summit in Astrakhan, Russia agreed with its three CIS partners (Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan) on the future legal status of the Caspian Sea – a thorny issue the four countries hadn’t been able to resolve for 20 years. Before the end of the year, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will all ratify the agreement on the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union, a document signed in Astana last May which will create a joint economic space linking Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and in the near future – also Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

Jen Psaki, the spokesperson for the US State Department, who were also present at the briefing, added that NATO is a defensive alliance. “No reason for anybody to think that the expansion is a hostile or threatening move,” Psaki said.
Psaki added that in her point of view the threat comes from Russia, not from NATO. “Other countries feel threatened,” she said.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but I regard this occurrence of incalculable importance:
The Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciencs has picked up a story on its New Eastern Outlook Journal.
It is the story which Veterans Today has been reporting that it received from Russia via Snowden’s material. The reason for its importance: the information purports to be from the still-classifed 2003 Dept of Energy Report re 9/11. VT’s release of this mat’l didn’t make much of a splash because they are so quirky, but NEO has more credibility. I wonder if this is Russia’s answer to the severe threat to Syria?

Is Mr. Chuck Hagel setting up to break more than just teeth?
Russia’s Minister of Defense, Mr. Sergey Shoigu who knows the Pentagon Chief personally is said to be very alarmed by Hagel’s aggressive speech:
US studies scenarios of carrying out operations near Russian border
MOSCOW, October 16 /TASS/. Pentagon chief’s statement that the US army should be ready to deal with modern and capable Russian armed forces is a source of serious concern for Russia. It means that the Pentagon is studying scenarios for operations near Russian borders, Russian Defense Minister General Sergey Shoigu told journalists on Thursday.
“I know US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel personally. That is why his speech at the US army annual meeting in which he called Russia the main enemy surprised all of us, to put it mildly,” Shoigu said.
“Russia’s sovereignty supported by its army and fleet will always be a frontier on which more than one Western emperor broke his teeth over the 1152 years /of Russian history/,” Shoigu said.

Seems Russia’s Foreign Minister Mr. Sergei Lavrov’s speech at the U.N. on 27th September 2014 was, to put it mildly, spot on:
“Pardon Us For Our Country’s Existence in the Middle of Your Military Bases”
A review:
In a courageous and brilliant speech to the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, 2014, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov pierced the veil of obfuscation that characterizes too many speeches at the United Nations, and delivered a scathing denunciation of Western imperialism, imperialism that can only be accurately described as global theft. Lavrov, on behalf of the Russian Federation implicitly warned that US/NATO is risking global war in embarking on its campaign to seize and dominate huge territories, while inexorably and ruthlessly determined to conquer and subjugate Russia, having learned nothing from the historic reality that Napolean’s effort to dominate Russia led to the collapse of Napoleonic France, and Hitler’s attempt to subjugate Russia led to the obliteration of his Third Reich.

(RIA) “Russia would use nukes to stave off Threats”
Feb 15, 2012
Russia would use nuclear weapons in response to any imminent threat to its national security, Chief of the Russian General Staff Gen. Nikolai Makarov said on Wednesday.
“We are certainly not planning to fight against the whole of NATO,” Makarov said in an interview with the Ekho Moskvy radio, “but if there is a threat to the integrity of the Russian Federation, we have the right to use nuclear weapons, and we will.”
The general said Russia’s nuclear deterrent is the cornerstone of strategic stability and serious efforts are being taken by the Russian government to modernize the country’s nuclear triad.

There’s a major issue in the UK at the moment concerning thousands of English children being forced into prostitution by criminal gangs while the political and media class do their best to cover it up.
This is currently the weakest spot in the ruling elite’s armor and the ruling elite are neocon controlled.
So if anyone wants to weaken the current UK elite in favor of more isolationist forces within the UK then that is the issue to focus on.
The drop in oil price is obviously an attempt to undermine Russia but it is also likely to screw up the US shale gas industry.
Here’s a little bit of information on Biden’s offspring Hunter Biden, famous for Ukrainian job in the gas business. Of course, the gas business will follow the ethnic cleansing and murder of civilians business paid for by Hunter’s daddy and his government owned junta.
But, here’s some high marks on Hunter’s CV. Discharged from the Navy for cocaine.
The whole naval career was a joke, set up by daddy Biden. Read the article in no less a media source than WSJ. You can’t make this stuff up.
Hunter Biden
An addendum and example to the point I made above:
Part of the NATO justification for the attack on Serbia was the claim that the political elite in Serbia were allowing mass gang rape. The UK govt. is currently doing the same thing.
#
The general case is
1) The neocon element of the political elite in team petrodollar are the political wing of the banking mafia
2) The banking mafia have corrupted the political elite in those same countries for various other reasons
What this means is each one of those countries has a buried or half-buried scandal unrelated to foreign policy which would damage the credibility of the political elite and thus *indirectly* undermine the neocon foreign policy.
#
There are left-isolationists and right-isolationists who are hostile to a neocon foreign policy but for different reasons.
To maximize opposition to the neocon’s stumbling towards WW3 Bad Vlad needs *two* distinct approaches – one aimed at the right-isolationists and one at the left.
@Andreas Van de Kamp
No I dont have proof it was the Saudis but we can go on a few things. This started happening since June. Someone has been selling a lot of oil in the futures markets and there is no insider trading problems there. It is legal to sell with knowledge. So the Saudis would not let everyone know they are going to crater the Oil prices before hand. and front run them. It look many months to take out all the buyers but once they are gone no one else is left to buy. The cftc reports show 150,000 contracts of NYMEX crude oil futures contracts alone were sold. Who has that much money? No one would sell such a large number without being able to control the cash markets as the oil consumption and production are pretty balanced. Once the futures markets are taken over then dumping any oil into the cash markets takes out prices since no one wants to hold so much more oil than what they use. The US also released strategic reserves just at this time. With the extra million barrels a day from the Saudis this just flooded the markets crashing the prices. If Russia wants to take out this market they have to stop shipment and make these shorts come up with the oil and since it is all on paper they would not be able to and the US would have to use up all its strategic reserves. Adding Venezuela and Iran to the mix and taking out like 5 mil barrels a day out of this market will bankrupt anyone complicit in this scheme. The Saudis wont care about the money. BUT With no strategic reserves and Saudis declaring Force majeure no one would trust the Saudis again to manipulate the markets. They would have shot themselves in the foot. Remember, every country thinks reliable oil supplies are a national security issue. When the Saudis cant deliver the oil they had sold, no one will trust their word again. It will also cause a massive depression world wide and take a few years to recover.
Selling things of value according to the diktats of the Empire means a slow death. This is not cotton where people can survive with some discomfort.. The Empire controls prices of everything. IP which dont cost much are sold for a very high price citing the initial research costs. And now include everything after cornering the markets. But stuff that requires massive human labor is sold at below cost, improvising the people who work 12 hour days.
Many of the financial institutions only work if there is ethics involved. If they are used for manipulation then the markets break. Like Gold/Silver are now being sold for prices lower than cost of production. You cant just stop production because prices are low. All the people involved and machinery involved wont be around when you want to restart production. And just like how no one will say in public the genocidal policies of the US, no one will say in public the prices are managed by the Empire either.. Just like how when it came to light that the US was funding terrorist activities in eastern india while attacking terrorists in afghanistan and telling pakistan about terrorists in western india, it was dropped so fast that it was like it never happened. On the one hand the US used to provide aid to india and inside that aid there is also provision for support to breakaway groups so there would not be cohesion in society, sabotage projects and research and then put in sanctions so advancement can not proceed without blessings from the empire. Its just amazing.. Its like spanking the kid while caressing the hair saying sweet nothings. Keep them unbalanced and guessing about intent.
I dont know about the USSR and the Saudi’s but they spent a lot of money to hurt the USSR in other ways. But I know Kuwait did a lot of underhanded things to undermine Iraq including stealing their oil and selling it for below market rates. So anything is possible. But somethings you can check using the futures reports they release every week just like the options and stock reports every month.

I’m trying to catch up on news and see this:
http://en.ria.ru/politics/20141017/194187192/Putin-Merkel-Discuss-Implementation-of-Minsk-Agreements-Kremlin.html
Putin, Merkel Discuss Implementation of Minsk Agreements: Kremlin
Updated 05:19 a.m. Moscow Time
MILAN, October 17 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have discussed the process of implementation of the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis at their meeting in Milan, the two leaders still have different points of view on the origins of the internal Ukrainian conflict, the Kremlin said Friday.
…
“Serious discrepancies persist regarding the genesis of the internal conflict in Ukraine and the prime causes of what is currently going on there,” Peskov added.
…
So what’s going with this stuff — and I see things like it all the time.
These leaders don’t know the facts and truth of the situation, won’t admit to to themselves, won’t admit it to the press, or is the press just obfuscating?
If Merkel really doesn’t know what happened (and I assume Putin does, and will be honest about it), then we have a real problem here. Same with the clowns in Washington — I have to assume they are either lying or are complete idiots, living in some delusional fantasy land.
Interpretation of facts and ideological difference are one thing, but think that a world leader, involved with this, doesn’t know what happened, leaves me astounded, and without much hope that we monkey-brained humans can ever get civilized.
If the problem is lying, it’s not much better, and also bring the question of evil into it. Evil and/or insanity — either one negates hope for a reasonable approach to solving anything helping. So what do we do now?

Mulga Mumblebrain, What ever the case maybe, the aussies (is that a derogatory slang term?? even if your relatives are aussies??) are trying to destroy the G20.. If some dont show up, they forum loses its power.. Like the G7 dont mean anything these days. So why kill off one of the only effective forums about controlling economic policy that can be agreed by the most people affected by it? I think security will be tight since if the Aussies try anything, they would pretty much be kicked out of every other international organization as another banana republic. Not like anyone thinks Australia amounts to much but they been throwing their weight around a lot the last few decades. With a population equal to iraq and pretty much a raw material export oriented country, has as much of an impact. They can ape all they want but if they actually do anything more it would be the last global event they will hold.

I mean, seriously. Even amateurs like the Ukraine Military media briefing can make up some fake documents to “prove” what they’re saying. RE: Turkey only got 60.
Wonder how many sycophants voted for them. We know the GCC and the EU and US would.. But Africa? Asia? South America? Israel??
Damn terrorists! They learnt fast how to lick arse and stay on the good side of Europeans so they dont have to face the music. How many ethnic cleansing have they done? The Audi’s at least are a terrorist country. But the Turks are far worse. Instead of breaking up Iraq, Syria, Iran etc, it is Turkey that should be broke up. Some cry to high heaven about China but say nothing about Turkey who occupy mostly non Turkish lands and their pogroms are far far worse than the Chinese ever do. When you talk about the 21st century.. Well one of the countries not fit to be involved in it is this sultanate.
The US led empire is collapsing which explains the panic the US is exhibiting in trying to take Russia down economically in conjunction with Saudi Arabia/Qatar which is supporting the US just as the US is protecting them from ISIS. My bet is that the US and its minions will fail, as the Russian people still know how to endure short term suffering and can rely on their resource base to survive.
However, the US is not so lucky, as the Automatic Earth system dynamics website point out that the US consumer based economy is tapped out and deflation is the result in: Deflation Flirts With America
http://www.theautomaticearth.com/deflation-flirts-with-america/
Furthermore, Gail Tverberg makes the case that low oil prices are bad and due in part to a US western society debt bubble which is also collapsing leading to perhaps a greater depression : Low Oil Prices: Sign of a Debt Bubble Collapse, Leading to the End of Oil Supply? : http://ourfiniteworld.com/2014/09/21/low-oil-prices-sign-of-a-debt-bubble-collapse-leading-to-the-end-of-oil-supply/#more-39258
From a historical perspective, the Archdruid references Arnold Toynbee and describes the bind America is in as “The disintegration of social hierarchies, the senility of ruling elites, and the fossilization of institutions all lead to the hour of the knife, the point at those who think they still rule a civilization discover the hard way—sometimes the very hard way—that effective power has transferred to new and more muscular hands.”
Eventually, this new Western elite will be what historians call the “warband: a group of young men whose sole trade is violence, gathered around a charismatic leader.” That first show up in the hinderlands (e.g. Ukraine, Iraq, Mexico) Dark Age America: The Hour of the Knife : http://thearchdruidreport.blogspot.com/
The Archdruid palso rovides a well developed model of America (which explains our support of the Ukraine fascists) in the three part series: Fascism and the Future, Part One: Up From Newspeak http://thearchdruidreport.blogspot.com/2014/02/fascism-and-future-part-one-up-from.html
Eventually, the vision of Ernest Thompson Seton will prevail as energy costs increase with further depletion of the reserves. He spoke of the “Buffalo Wind,” “the wind off the open prairies that tingles with life and wonder, calling humanity back to its roots in the natural order, back to harmony with the living world: not rejecting the distinctive human gifts of culture and knowledge, but holding them in balance with the biological realities of our existence and the needs of the biosphere.” : http://thearchdruidreport.blogspot.com/2014/10/the-buffalo-wind.html
Such a catabolic collapse can be managed, but most likely will be violent, or result from a pandemic in large population center with poor sanitation (e.g. Ebola): Dark Age America: The Collapse of Political Complexity : http://thearchdruidreport.blogspot.com/2014/10/dark-age-america-collapse-of-political.html
Best wishes and be personally prepared for the coming future.

give up the Hollywood doomsday movie scenarios. As with all prophecies, the way they are worded they ALWAYS apply to RIGHT NOW (ie whenever someone is reading them). They just exaggerate behaviors and attitudes which have always existed and always will. Then they exaggerate the prevalence of one over the other, and you suggestible mind does the rest.

Actually there must be a profit in it somewhere I can’t see. They are supremacists, another reason they’re not too concerned about neo-Nazis in Ukraine…and that’s one thing a substantial part of the country goes along with.
Hunter Biden used cocaine? he was in the Navy how long? he only just joined…a month? just long enough to “get caught”. Now wait to see minor scandals like that come out about all the other US big wig offspring types involved, as their excuse to leave the sinking ship.

Well guess it is never too late..
Russia is rattling her cage here..
So now the Russian defense minister can say f the NATO, we will nuke the sucker if they attack.
Actually I saw the nuke option from many sources.. So everything is on the table.. We wont even try to keep parity with NATO.. Or even try to stop them.
Putin now says Gas might be cut to Europe if anyone even passes wind in the wrong direction..
When someone starts poking you with a pin, you say ETF a few times and then have a gun in one hand and a hammer in the other.. Say you poke me again and I’ll blow your brains out. When he pulls out a knife you smack him with the hammer.. He will go and come back with a bazooka and all his friends.. But you already put him on notice and you took the initiative. Maybe his friends will try to get some sense into him or they will run off and leave him to face the gun alone.. But you come to the bottom line here.. What are you trying to do and how much pain are you willing to put up with to do it. The US being on the threshold of already being on a life support system might lurch but that would be alone. Good chance of killing the patient as well before any harm can be done.
Because now the end game is now known. No one is trying to hide things anymore. Its breakup Russia and parcel out the land to corporations to make better use of it than the Russians.
I am sure Putin knew this well before hand because he planned for some of it. He just did not move fast enough to stop it. Did not cultivate enough allies early enough to have shown the EU this would be much tougher than the US tells them. So now we have suffer even more pain for longer. That pain is coming no matter what to all of us. I dont see any way out of it. But you can prepare as much as you could to survive intact and not end up under a bridge. But being prepared can save lives. And every life counts in whats to come.
One thing is for sure though.. Before there is regime change in Iran, The Saudi’s wont have any oil to export.. The US wont be able to keep Saudi oil exports open if Iran is determined to not let them through no matter what. They been preparing for this for decades. The US wont invade a nation of 80 million people. They can bribe enough people to run away from the battle field. The US will also find the difference between Sunni’s and Shias..

Merkel does know, she just pretends she doesn’t, otherwise her stupid support for sanctions wouldn’t make sense. Take for instance what she said in Milan earlier this morning:
“We will continue to talk. There was progress on some details, but the main issue is continued violations of the territorial integrity of Ukraine,”
That comment could be alluding to either: the phantom Russian tanks crossing into Ukraine, or the fact that Crimea is now under Russian control. Or, it could be both, but whatever the case, why can’t she come out and just spell it? Because 1) she knows she will be immediately disabused of her ignorance by the entire Russian delegation and 2) she likes to speak to Putin out of both sides of her mouth. She’s all smiles and friendly on his presence and then she backstabs him the minute he turns around.
The mere mention of the illusory “continued violations of the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” proves without question on what side of the fence she’s sitting, for her to pretend that she doesn’t know what’s really going on, it’s beyond ludicrous.
To answer your last question; yes, these people are lying, but not just lying, their lies are designed to send a clear message to Putin; Russia has no rights and will not be allowed to pursue (or even have) its own national interests. If your national interests align with ours, we might allow you to participate, if they don’t, we will stop you, block you or even destroy you if we must.
There are no ifs, not buts with these creatures. Negotiations are effectively pointless and compromises will be imposed on the Russian side only, while they won’t give in not even one freakin’ inch. This has been the reality on global politics and/or international “diplomacy” since the end of WWII.

Cassandra Says:
GIVI: “If Strelkov continues to attack Zakharchenko, he’ll have to go through me.” [brief paraphrase]
The blessed Kazzura has the excerpt, Givi on Zakharchenko, up on YouTube with English subtitles.
In my guesstimate of Givi’s character, one of his sterling traits is loyalty. Givi served under Strelkov at Slovyansk, as did most of his battalion.
He is also one of the people Strelkov claims to be defending from Zakharchenko’s attempt to sacrific them.
We’re getting it straight from the horse’s mouth here, folks.
@ Anonymous saying “At last I have my answer why no Ukrainian language blog.some of us are not Russian/ukies.”
There ARE Ukrainian language blogs. But if you’re here, you’d not want to be reading them. (Unless you can stomach being a spy for us). Actually most of the videos out out by them are in Russian.
translate.Yandex.com does a better job on Russian than Google does. Formal writing translates very well. Colloquial speech sometimes very back to front. Many videos have versions with English subtitles. Find a good alphabet chart on google and print it out, you soon get to read major place names on maps or video titles.

There’s a variant of poker called Omaha, where you get four cards (but only 2 count at showdown). Lot harder for opponents to work out what you have, as it may change as each shared card is turned. US cheats so they always play with the same cards, relying on bluffing against naive opponents. Russia? they’ve been known to check and let the opponent bet for them.
It takes longer than a day to negotiate multi billion non-dollar deals for oil, railways, all the things from the other BRICS countries. Those were all ready to sign when the right time came. And now US can only blame itself, for doing the stupid sanctions, and Europe will blame them too. Had those deals been announced 6 or 8 months ago, all the blame would have been on Russia. “Russia just wrecked the world economy”. Best they can do now is “Russia invaded Ukraine with 200 tons of water and baby food”. Oh and shot down a passenger jet oh ooops ooops it was our protege on our advice. Oh dear, ssshhhhh.
BRICS itself didn’t happen over 1 dinner and 3 drinks at one meeting, either.
Amazing timing on that gigantic oil field discovery, too. And US, being centre of universe, is worried about their own elections next month, but apparently forgot (or thought it could buy) all the elections around Europe just now, and change of guard in EU and NATO.
It may be a cold winter for more than just Ukraine. But 2015 will come around, no more radiation than we have now, but it will be a different world. With the light coming from the East.
Worrying developments at Milan…
Denounce illegal Ukrainian elections and avoid ‘frozen conflict’, David Cameron tells Vladimir Putin
“[…] Moscow denies arming the rebel forces in the face of what Western governments say is clear evidence to the contrary.
Speaking after the talks in the margins of the Asia Europe Meeting Mr Cameron said: “Vladimir Putin said very clearly that he doesn’t want a frozen conflict, he doesn’t want a divided Ukraine.”
“But if that is the case then Russia needs to take the action to put in place all that has been agreed – getting Russian troops out of Ukraine, getting heavy weapons out of Ukraine, respecting all the agreements and only recognising one legitimate set of Ukrainian elections,” he told reporters.”

How can you withdraw troops that don’t exists? This is alarming because it sounds exactly like the demands put forward to Saddam Hussein; “to hand over his WMDs or else”, the very WDMs they later never found, and only admitted to it after invading Iraq, destroyed half the country and killed around a million people.
Even though on the surface, it looks as if the western narrative didn’t change, the fact that they are insisting at this point in time on something that should be clear to all that this is nothing but fantasy, it should be taken as a serious open threat by Putin and the Russian government.
But not only that, now it seems their demands are getting steeper: “respecting all agreements” even though Russia made it abundantly clear that the Minsk agreement is only between Ukraine and Novorussia NOT Russia itself (and again that’s another term they cannot fulfill) and they are also more or less ordering Russia which elections to recognize [Kiev] and which to repudiate [Novorussia].
The writing is on the wall and has been for sometime now. Russia better wake up fast.

Crimea is gone forever and everyone knows it. The territorial integrity bit is for public consumption. They cannot just back down. They have to save face. (It’s usually agreed before hand what statements are going to be made). The “huh? wass goin’on?” is the lead-in to tomorrow giving a “good” explanation to the world as to why we’re letting Russia have a few bonus points (from the goodness of our democratic freedom loving hearts). I BET the word “humanitarian” will be in the statement.
Russia has officially had 80 people there “with OSCE” but actually investigating on their own. They have evidence of atrocities done by government troops. Some of the Europeans there don’t know this yet.
Poroshenko wants to be re-elected in 9 days, doesn’t he? ‘Forever’ is an awful long time. Mind you, I’d personally like to believe that statement – especially the forever part – but I suppose, yes, even Obama admitted to it recently – if not officially – so there’s at least some hope that part the Russian message is going through their hopelessly thick skulls…
“[…] The territorial integrity bit is for public consumption. They cannot just back down. They have to save face.”
The ‘saving face’ part of it rings kind of hollow, especially under the light of recent events in Syria.
If we go back a bit, it was claimed that Obama ‘drew a red line on Syria,’ way back when Assad supposedly gassed/poisoned his own people for no reason, and…. Russia reportedly gave him – Obama – a way out: ‘to save face,’ via a Russian brokered deal between Assad and the West, that Syria will give up their Chemical Weapons arsenal in exchange for not being bombed to oblivion. *By the way; call me cynical, but ISIS didn’t spring into ‘action,’ and they didn’t invade Iraq, not until after most of the Syrian chemicals weapons have been handed over and presumably, decommissioned. (Just saying…)
Let’s look at the situation now, [borrowing the term from the great Pepe Escobar] “the coalition of the cowards/clueless” are bombing the sh!t out of a sovereign country – Syria – while every single geopolitical annalist worth their salt, know (or are highly suspicious) the long term aim is to eventually attack Assad forces and carry out the regime change goal they were talking about from day one.
So much for ‘face saving face,’ and going quietly into the night, uh?!
These people never give up their goals. To think otherwise is foolish.
“[…] Sad for Europe, all those apples are rotten by now, next time they’ll remember it only takes one to rot them all.”
The European establishment is firmly in the US’ pocket. If they are asked to shoot themselves on the foot, they will do so immediately and unquestionably. After all, it’s not skin off their noses for these jobworths, they know they are on their way out – as much as a career in politics is concerned – and in any case, they are probably shooting for a cozy corporate job, so they’re hoping they’ll be working for Goldman Sacks or JP Morgan, or whatever. It’s the European people that’s gonna be left holding the bag, not the officials making the decisions right now.
