Truth Is An Endangered Species: Support It
During the 20th century Cold War with the Soviet Union, there were US Soviet experts who were concerned that the Cold War was partly contrived and, therefore, needlessly dangerous. Stephen Cohn at Princeton University, for example, believed that exaggerating the threat was as dangerous as underestimating it. On the other hand, Richard Pipes at Harvard believed that the CIA dangerously underestimated Soviet military power and failed to grasp Soviet strategic intentions.
In 1976 President Gerald Ford and CIA Director George H.W. Bush commissioned an outside panel of experts to evaluate the CIA’s National Intelligence Estimates. This group was known as Team B. Under Pipes’ leadership Team B created the perception that the US faced a dangerous “window of vulnerability.”
In conventional wisdom, in order to close this window of vulnerability President Reagan began an American arms buildup. On this point conventional wisdom is wrong. The Reagan military buildup was as much hype as reality. Its purpose was to bring the Soviets to the negotiating table and end the Cold War in order to remove the threat of nuclear war. Reagan’s supply-side policy had fixed the problem of worsening trade-offs between employment and inflation, thus making an arms buildup possible. In contrast, Reagan regarded the Soviet economy as broken and unfixable. He reasoned that a new arms race was more than the Soviets could afford, and that the threat of one would bring the Soviets to the table to negotiate the end of the Cold War.
The Soviet Union collapsed when hardline communists, convinced that Gorbachev was endangering the Soviet Union by giving up too much too quickly before American intentions were known, placed President Gorbachev under house arrest. The Yeltsin years (1991-1999) brought the dismemberment of the Soviet Empire and was a decade of Russian subservience to the United States.
Putin came to power as the American neoconservatives were girding up to establish US and Israeli hegemony in the Middle East. As General Wesley Clark told us, seven countries were to be overthrown in 5 years. The American preoccupation with the Middle East permitted Putin to throw off American overlordship and reestablish Russian sovereignty. Once Washington realized this, the American establishment turned on Putin with a vengence.
Stephen Cohen, Jack Matlock (Reagan’s ambassador to the Soviet Union), myself and a few others warned that Washington’s refusal to accept Russian independence would reignite the Cold War, thus erasing the accomplishment of ending it and resurrecting the specter of nuclear war. But Washington didn’t listen. Instead, Cohen and I were put on a list of “Russian agents/dupes,” and the process of trying to destabalize Putin began. In other words, once an American colony always an American colony, and Putin became the most demonized person on earth.
Today (March 17) we had the extraordinary spectacle of President Biden saying on ABC News that President Putin is a killer, and “he will pay a price.” This is a new low point in diplomacy. It does not serve American interests or peace.
Yesterday a CIA-Homeland Security report was declassified. The “report” is blatant propaganda. It alleges that Russia interfered in the 2020 election with the purposes of “denigrating President Biden’s candidacy and the Democratic Party, supporting former President Trump, undermining public confidence in the electoral process, and exacerbating sociopolitical divisions in the US.” “Russiagate” is still with us despite the failure of the three-year Mueller investigation to find a scrap of evidence.
We desperately need a new Team B like the one the CIA commissioned in 1976 to check on itself. But in those days discussion and debate was possible. Today they are not. We live in a world in which only propaganda is permitted. There is an agenda. The agenda is regime change in Russia. No facts are relevant. There will be no Team B to evaluate whether the Putin threat is exaggerated.
The anti-Russian craze that has been orchestrated in the US and throughout the Western world leaves the US in an extremely dangerous situation. Americans and Europeans perceive reality only through the light of American propaganda. American diplomacy, military policy, news reporting, and public understanding are the fantasy creations of propaganda.
The Kremlin has shown amazing forbearance of Washington’s inanities and insults. It was the Democrat Hillary Clinton who called President Putin the “new Hitler,” and now Democrat Biden calls Putin “a killer.” American presidents and presidential candidates did not speak of Soviet leaders in these terms. They would have been regarded by the American population as far too deranged to have access to the nuclear button.
Sooner or later the Kremlin will understand that it is pointless to respond to demonization with denials. Yes, the Russians are correct. The accusations are groundless, and no facts or evidence is ever provided in support of the accusations. Sooner or later the Kremlin will realize that the purpose of demonizing a country is to prepare one’s people and allies for war against it.
Washington pays no attention to Maria Zakharova and Dmitry Peskov’s objections to unsubstansiated accusations.
When “sooner or later” is, I do not know, but the Russians haven’t reached that point. The Kremlin reads the latest allegations as an excuse for more sanctions against Russian companies and individuals. This reading is mistaken. Washington’s purpose is to demonize Russia and its leadership in order to set Russia up for regime change and, failing that, for military attack.
In the United States Russian Studies has degenerated into propaganda. Recently, two members of the Atlantic Council think tank, Emma Ashford and Matthew Burrows, suggested that American foreign policy could benefit from a less hostile approach to Russia. Instantly, 22 members of the think tank denounced the article by Ashford and Burrows.
This response is far outside the boundaries of the 20th century Cold War. It precludes any rational or intelligent approach to American foreign policy. Sooner or later the Kremlin will comprehend that it is confronted by a gangster outfit of the criminally insane. Then what happens?
It is increasingly difficult to find any reasons to admire or like America. It has become a sick racist nation, peopled by ignaramus’ and under educated morons. Its culture is flat, vapid and empty, the nation lead by often mentally unstable individuals who shouldn’t be allowed near power let alone an arsenal the size of the US. It is my ever more confirmed opinion that we are at a civilisational crossroads and that America, as a no longer viable entity, has to end. Waiting for it to implode will take too long. It is, whether we like it or not, up to China and Russia, wider Eurasia, to save the world as an on going human project, the west is corrupt, psychotic and deranged and is no longer capable of managing its own affairs let alone those of its ’empire’ if the East does not take this burden we will all disappear in a hale of hate and fire.
LOL! And those are all its good points!

America is the Beast.
But it is a Beast that tries to conceal its malignant nature through a Goebbelsian mask called “US Freedom and Democracy.”
There will be no saving the world by China or Russia as you are all too late for rejecting the Almighty GOD!
Even though by his grace, sent his son CHRIST and FORTOLD what was going to happen in future… Damascus rubble, seismic eruptions, weather, beast & mark so on.
Do not concern yourselves by rumors of war for this will come to pass! A great cleansing is coming off the Godless!
Only God’s children will be Saved like jesus said if you see me you are saved, my Lord has prepared those for many years and they are chosen, they will be led to a safe place they were prepared for and now is the time to go before permanent lock up & mandatory beast & marc….. Leave children NOW, War comes 3 to 4 yrs where all wicked will die and face the superior judge our father for the Wrath.
What happens? The USA gets vaporized but as Putin said, Russia will go to heavens as mártir but the USA will just drop dead. USA won’t even have time to repent…
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7MIBg-jSvqs
Putin actually said that America would drop dead before having the opportunity to repent. Meaning, going to Hell.
Things are going to be lit in the Donbas & Syria shortly….
The ‘interview’ between Stephanopolous and Biden has changed the inevitability of war with Russia to the inevitability of war with Russia very very soon. The WEF crowd needs to crush Russia sooner than later so with their pet dog and his handler in the Whitehouse, they will start WW3 in the next decade at the outside.
Jason
What is dangerous here is that the neocons in the US are living in cloud cuckoo land. It’s a well known fact that they believe that Russia can be beaten in a sneak nuclear attack with minimal loses to the US. They obviously got their military training by watching Hollywood movies. I trust there are saner minds in the US military.
@ I trust there are saner minds in the US military.
And that should be the canary in the coal mine that never dies.
Sadly, Leo, there are no saner minds in the U.S. military. These idiots doom the entire planet.
And the fact that in doing so they’d become the most depraved and reviled mass murderers in world history doesn’t even register with these morons. Not even the fact that it’s their own biosphere that they’d be nuking.
The human race lost out to the lowest common denominator and the universe won’t weep so much as a single tear.
Now does seem to be the time for Russia to break off all relations with the USA death cult. It may be a good time to humiliate them as well!
“Then what happens?”
Using its vast hinterland of resources, the civilizational state of the Russian Federation defends itself to the death against a 400 year old white-settler colony, as it has, at least four times in the last two centuries
Russia will survive – but the same can’t be said for the ‘Land of the Fee and the Home of the Slave’ – who the Brits quietly, amongst themselves, refer to as “the Plantation”
Reflect on Orlov’s 3 articles on causes for collapse, esp. the third: ‘Military Defeat as cause for Collapse’
From kingworldnews Hugo Salinas article-
“Russia has only one potential enemy – the USA. The USA is the only candidate as a victim of Russian weaponry – and for good reasons.”
“What lies ahead is Doomsday for the USA. Given the nature of the USA, Doomsday is inevitable:
Let’s Hope This Never Unfolds
The USA will at some point, by its nature, be forced to attack Russia or its ally, China.
The result of this inevitable event will be the bombing, with nuclear weapons, of the territory of the USA, by Russia and its ally China.
This event will be the first event of such a nature, in the history of the USA, which, since 1812, has never suffered the consequences of war on its own territory. “
For the answer go to “kingworldnews.com ” Article march 10,2021 “Multi-Billionaire Hugo Salinas Price just issued this dire WARNING to the United States.
PCR continually states that the Russians don’t understand the vacuous state of American Politicians. That the Russians are somehow naive to believe there’s hope to find reason with the US political elite.
I think he just misunderstands the Russians or the situation where they find themselves.
The Russians have little choice but to act like the grown ups in the room where everyone else is drunk and acting like fools.
Indeed, I think the Russians know EXACTLY what is going on but have little choice but to do as they are doing. IF they were to cut off all communication or dialogue with the Americans, they would be playing into the Americans hands. I believe that this is what the US is hoping for.
The Russians know where their lines are drawn and everything else is pure theatre. The De-humanising of Putin only serves to describe the true intent and soul-less hearts of the accusers.
The majority of the American people take no real notice of Joe Biden I think because, they’re busy just trying to survive in a country that faintly resembles the country they grew up in. Many may swallow the empty accusations but, I doubt most Americans are truly believing anything that is coming from a decrepit 78 yr old man who, is desperately trying just to read cue cards and, who fails to even know what State he’s in.
Even IF Biden was totally coherent, his political past is that of a crook, a liar, an opportunist, a braggart and indeed, a murderer himself. Biden, although he’s the President of the USA is more irrelevant now than at any other time in his life!
Now, that’s irony.
As my mother used to tell me, ‘He’s more to be pitied than ridiculed’.
The US is a monster on the prowl looking for it’s next prey but Russia won’t be that prey that’s for sure because, Russia can defend itself and the US monster only attacks weak and un-defendable nations states like Iraq, Libya and Syria.
Russia has no choice but to treat the US leadership like an alcoholic uncle who’s living in the family home, with only a short time to live, always saying the wrong thing, spewing abuse and criticism. He knocks over treasured family heirlooms and steps on the carpet without wiping his feet.
He’s arrogant, ignorant and living in the past. He’s now irrelevant and thinks he’s in control but he’s controlled and allowed only so much leeway unless he goes too far.
Then, he’ll be disciplined in manners and decency and made to show respect to those who can harm him.
This is my view also. The biggest mistake the Americans could make is to overstep the line. Then they will soon learn the meaning of true power. Dr Roberts often says that the lack of Russian muscular response is a sign of weakness, or perceived as such. Woe betide any who believe this.
I agree with you as well. Don’t antagonize the bystanders and when strong, look weak.
I am not surprised by Bidens belligerence towards VVP. Russia gate is a narrative that Biden and Co.(MIC, CIA, MSM) will never let die. The Skripals, Navalny, and chemical weapon attacks in Syria are more of the same BS. This is part of the effort to keep Americans misinformed and unfocused on the real problems:1) The purchasing power of the dollar is shrinking and many pay for goods and services on credit. 2) The cost of health care and education are not part of CPI. Thus inflation is not one or two percent it is much closer to ten to twelve percent. 3) We do not have manufacturing base anymore, those jobs were outsourced. In a recent article PCR stated that the US does not have an economy. I agree, debt peonage is not an economy. Wages do not keep up with the cost of living. But the Pentagon’s budget grows exponentially. Weapons we do not need are made and often made poorly and we over pay by a factor of two. The F35 is but one example. Meanwhile in the UK where the Government can not find the money to give Healthcare workers a raise they found billions of euros to expand their nuclear armaments by forty percent.
”Meanwhile in the UK where the Government can not find the money to give Healthcare workers a raise they found billions of euros to expand their nuclear armaments by forty percent.”
All very true and regrettable. But you should understand that the UK, like almost every other state in Europe is a member of NATO and therefore is part of an occupied American zone, and therefore no European nation is sovereign and every Euro state is a vassal state.
Of course in any future war between Russia and the US the EU will be the battlefield.
Donald.D: “Of course in any future war between Russia and the US the EU will be the battlefield”
I do not accept that as a matter of course. Russia’s hypersonic missiles would take only 2 minutes to knock out every city in the U$A. And if it comes to boots on the ground, never forget that NorthEast U$A’s nearest neighbour is NorthWest Russia aka Alaska.
Why go through the middle men when you can deal with the principal?
Because even during the Cold War the USSR’s Eastern defences was comprised of the odds and ends left over after the defence needs of East Europe. There is a reason why the KAL 007 spy plane was shot down by an obsolete Sukhoi 15 and not a MiG 25. Eastern Russian military infrastructure is at best defensive. That’s why.
@Biswapriya Purkayastha
Somehow you have navigated across the vast internet to the Saker site.
Now you are here, please read at least some of the excellent analysis of Russia’s defence and offence capabilities written by the Saker.
It will most likely be uncomfortable for you, as you will then understand why the rest of us are smirking at the comment you have posted.
It’s ok. Many of us were ignorant and poorly informed at one time.
But now you are here, read and learn.
Russia’s capacity in 2021 has extended well beyond its capacity just five and certainly 10 years ago.
Very well said Mr. Crockett. You nail major points. Sad, sad, state of affairs. The “Western Powers” have gone straight bonkers, as the mythical ideals of “democracy,” “freedom,” yada, yada, fade like a puff of smoke. The late Justin Raimondo, editor and founder of the blog called “Antiwar.com,” appropriately and insightfully called our post-911 existence “Bizarro World.”
https://original.antiwar.com/justin/2002/02/13/bizzaro-world/
So basically Paul Craig Roberts thinks that Russia is too stupid to be aware that it is already under attack, already in de facto war?
Though given the Putinist regime’s by now incomprehensible and counterproductive restraint – even if one believes (mistakenly, in my opinion) that said restraint was necessary in 2014, it is incomprehensible and counterproductive now – I do not blame him for that conclusion.
“So basically Paul Craig Roberts thinks that Russia is too stupid to be aware…”
So, basically, you appear to have no idea (it seems) of nuanced discourse in the English language by natural sophisticated English speakers with advanced diplomatic skills in their native tounge. The more general problem of mass usage and dominace of 400-word-level Holliwood/TV learned ‘English’ suffices for a universal expert’s interpretation and criticism.
Let me suggest to you, that perhaps PCR has written this article in such a manner that it achieves multiple-level aims and agenda, comperable, from the aging heartland of an old and more sane America, in quality — and as a strategic communication device — to the subtle and sophisticated M V. Putin’s recent ‘black-belt’ judo throw ‘get well’ response to the vacuous characters inhabiting (or should we say haunting) the biological human body with a pulse usually referred to as “Joe Biden”.
For those with eyes to see, and some humility in their own self estimations on matters of sophisticated use of English by Western-based educated native speakers within their own cultures, one might perhaps understand and appreciate that PCR is writing to his own American and British (perhaps some European) peers via the ‘Putin Insult’ opportunity. He would be well aware that President Putin needs no such councelling. Study Troy and the Wooden Horse myth. And what PCR has to say should be very troubling to those with gravitas and charged with responsible public service (for the people).
Another very relevant blog post from MoA points out where this “General Insanity” pitch has reached — PCR is just one of many focuusing on this situation of escalating concern. I quote the point here for ease of access:
“Last week the French ‘Armed Forces Joint Reflection Circle’ CRI, an independent think tank of former generals and high officers of the French forces, issued an open letter to NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg in which it accused him of having acting solely in the interest of the U.S. during the development of his NATO 2030 plan.
The letter details how Stoltenberg, NATO and the U.S. have caused the bad relations with Russia. It says that the U.S. is trying use a fictional ‘Russian threat’ to pressure NATO countries into morphing into a global force, under U.S. command and independent of the United Nations, to then use it against China.” (MoA, March 18, 2021)
“In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Now that Ambassador Roberts has invoked the spectre of war (as have some readers BTL recent threads in Saker Vineyard) I remember having a similar apprehension some ten years ago: over NATZO’s invasion of Syria, the Biden/Obomba attempt to take over Crimea, and their terrorist atrocity against MH17. There began to be heard in the EU$A a slow and steady crescendo of anti-Russian and anti-Chinese hate-speech, culminating in Obomba’s boast about being able to nuke Russia in 10 minutes. It seemed to me that the Anglo-Zionazi-Capitalists were planning WW3; and that a suitable date for them to start WW3 would be 2033 — to commemorate the centenary of the Nazi putsch which the AZC financed, armed, protected diplomatically as “our bulwark against Communism” and let loose on Eastern Europe as their attack dog against the Soviet Union — which was the cause of WW2.
It now seems that the AZC plan to start WW3 might be executed sooner than 2033. I hope not — in fact, I hope it does not happen at all. But if it does, I wrote on this site years ago that WW3 would spell the end of the EU$A.
Fabulously rich Croesus consulted the Delphic Oracle about his plan to start a war against the Persian Empire. The oracle replied, It will spell the end of the empire; but they did not tell Croesus which empire.
dont forget the assad chemical weapons and bellingcat bs. tulsi gabbard removed her links from her Wikipedia and the council of foreign relations official website scrubbed her name when some journalists pointed out that inconsistency .how funny and sad the zionazi lobby can run both points of view.
They are taking a long time to wake up. Perhaps they should not return their Ambassador to the USA.
PCR and others simply don’t get it.
A bit of context:
After Stalin, Soviet elites started to converge to the West, willingly and with greatest enthusiasm. Why was this possible? They didn’t believe sh” they supposedly stood for. It was a power game. I refer to the book “Nemesis”, there you’ll find an elaborate account how power players through the ages fostered ideologies to their content – as the Soviet midgets did. The fate of the SU was sealed with Kosygin’s “reforms” (https://www.britannica.com/biography/Aleksey-Nikolayevich-Kosygin), which was the antipode to Glushkov’s proposition of a cybernetic aided form of government (https://strelkamag.com/en/article/what-happened-to-the-soviet-internet). I think it was the communist party convention at the end of the 60s that finally killed it. Nothing in this process was an accident. The apparatchiks rightly assumed that they would lose power, because a rational system would interfere with their political decisions, which are always made with special attention to influence, favors yada, yada. It would make every decision transparent and record-able. You can’t have accountability in any real system of power – serfs are accountable, not masters.
The Western elite has been formed in centuries of Machiavellian evolution of the worst to the top. Now they champion concepts like transparent obfuscation.
The point I want to make about Russia is, that the Soviet elites converted completely to Jurassic Park capitalists, hell bend on integrating Russia into the West. They destroyed almost everything that was an obstacle: Political, cultural, economic – you name it. They succeeded. Where they messed up was the selection of Putin. They thought he is a good boi. They miscalculated, but he was still the candidate that oligarchic power players chose to be the manager of Russia’s liquidation. He was no accident either. It’s beyond me how anyone can think that he was chosen by an underground elite of “sovereignists” – it is a bad joke of a myth.
Now PCR has difficulty to understand why the contemporary Russian elite is so docile and seemingly stupid, to not understand what all these hostile actions mean. PCR, they chose to become a part of the West. Almost all levers of power are controlled by them. They hate their populace and want to liquidate their country, sell it completely down the river. That’s why the West hates Putin and team so much. He doesn’t push the self destruct button. He drinks the liberal koolaid, but doesn’t take the final step. That’s why the West rightly assumes that if Russian elites will completely take over, there will be no one to defend it. That’s why all the cards are bet on the freak-o-zation of Russia’s youth, degenerate culture, religion, education, media, resource extraction etc.
There is a non-systemic and some systemic opposition, but they don’t control anything. The ONLY salvation of Russia, right now, is that the West has no time left and it is antagonizing Russia to no end. That’s why, despite having almost all power, liberals have to play a duplicitous game of patriotism while being suckers to the West. That is all you need to know, to understand why Russia is so incredibly incomprehensible: The population, for the most part, by inertia, is living in a slightly “traditional” frame, while the elites are for the most part living in the degenerate world of the West. Russian elites are grinding their teeth, but have to build up Russia sufficiently to not lose their feed trough to the lunatic elites of the West.
That’s the secret. That’s the elephant in the room, almost nobody is talking about.
this analysis adds much clarity to what has been in my mind relative to Russia and Vlad Putin.
the question begs however: why does Putin leave the Russian elites whole and in place?
If Putin’s goal is to save Russia he must destroy the Russian elite, that he cannot afford to move on ultimately leaving them in place
There so many hypothesis in the Russosphere of the Internet as to why this is the case with Putin. One facet is described very well by the economist (worked in the Russian administration in the 90s) Mikhail Khazin: He is very cautious to destabilize the country by provoking inner elite conflict. He keeps the peace. Putin supposedly avoids any systemic punitive actions, because it supposedly will be difficult to stop and become counter productive.
Fundamental decisions are made by Putin if every other avenue is finally closed. Events like the return of Crimea to Russia illustrate this point very well. Many other projects were started in the past, which failed disastrously (Serdyukov’s military “reforms”, many national projects in the economic sphere…), because the Russian elite was the author of them or simply sabotaged them. Many experts tell us that the recent pension reform is a deliberate attempt to destroy the “Putin majority” in Russia. There are many, many more attempts to explain his behavior.
(If I mention elites, I mean the spectrum of current elites – there is f.e. the good exception of the patriotic part of this elite, which is the military. Which wasn’t always the case. If there is no statement like that one will be accused of propaganda very fast.)
Anyway, the book I ambiguously (title) recommended is this one:

This isn’t true. The US deep state took over the country and are holding the rest of us hostage. They are power msd psycopaths.
You are being held hostage by the past, which is why they want you to forget about it.
The most important thing for Russia (and China) is time.
Russia needs time to rebuild their armed forces and rebuild their economy. Every month that they can delay large scale hostilities works to strengthen them.
Some commentators keep moaning about how not responding to the endless little provocations shows weakness. It doesn’t. Delay works for Russia and against the heavily indebted US and friends.
I am however becoming increasingly pessimistic about the next 6-12 months and see major risks of serious escalation and a pre-emptive US nuclear strike if that goes badly. :(
How many more trays, decades, or centuries does Russia need to rebuild its military and economy before they are rebuilt enough, and how many Syrians, Iraqis, Libyans, Novorossiyans and others will need to die during this time in those endless “little” provocations?
Years. Not trays.
“Years. Not trays.”
I sympathise: Y and T are too close together on a QWERTY keyboard; and smarty-phone auto-correct makes confusion even more likely.
Yours amiably,
Dr.NoGood Marauders
10 years
Regarding Libyans and Iraqis: They are for the most part to blame themselves for the own fate. You forgot Armenians. The same group.
Syrian has woken up in time, but Assad didn’t go to school in Moscow (none of Gaddafi’s sons didn’t either) but in London, he sided with the west against Saddam, his wife is British (and Syrian) citizen (I think she is one of the most positive women in power anywhere, but it doesn’t change the prehistory and facts).
Syrian had unfortunately to prove itself worth of protecting through the fire.
Novorussia wouldn’t exist without Russia and is steadily integrating more and more with Russia. So your criticism is not valid here.
You complain about Russia(ns) not dying for Syrians and Libyans (they are both as members of Russian armed forces and through Wagner) but complain that they are dying in Novorussia. You can’t have both.
In the end even in 10 Russia is not going to military protect neither Libya nor Iraq partially because of logistics, more important because there is no consensus among the population about the alliances but mostly because Russia is no world police.
Iraq should turn to Iran in the first place for help but more important throw out Americans. Neither is realistic, so again Russia is not even on the list over whom to blame.
In the end, Russia has no plans nor interests or possibility to project its power far from its borders. It never did historically neither. Those 10 years are for the Russia to be able to finally say to the West fuck off and not to start acting as worlds police.
“Syrians, Iraqis, Libyans, Novorossiyans and others” are not Russians, (some in the Dondass are). Russia has no obligation to them. If they want salvation, they must help themselves and Russia may assist. Russia has an obligation to Russia first and foremost. By the way Biswapriya Purkayastha, why are you posting here and not fighting in one of the countries that you mentioned?
Syrians have given Russia their own territory as bases. Russia absolutely has an obligation to them whether you or Putin like it or not. Russia was well on the way to abandoning them to the headchoppers before Soleimani went to Moscow to beg for an intervention. The same with Armenia. If Putin thinks he has no obligations to countries hosting his troops he should withdraw them all to Russia, close down the doors, and it will be interesting to see how long Russia lasts after that.
The South will rise again…and again…and again. I continue be amazed that ReTrumplicas like Paul Craig Roberts have been taken in by the racist ideology that claims Europeans were destined by God to displace indigenous people all around the world, rape them, pillage them, and in the case of the former American Confederacy, own them. Manifest Destiny equals Zionism equals racism. If you don’t believe me, just ask any Native American or any Palestinian.
Most Zionists in the USA are Christian. They comprised the rock-solid core of Trump’s base. Pastor John Hagee claims there are “50 million Bible-reading Christians who all stand with Israel.” They hope for a transformative, apocalyptic war that will bring their warrior messiah back to Earth and turn the USA into some kind of Christian-Zionist theocracy. If you didn’t catch the religious fervor of the folks who stormed the Capitol, you weren’t paying attention. There they were, doing God’s work, with Confederate flags and all.
I agree. PCR has degenerated into a caricature of elat he used to be.
PCR has obviously been taken in by Trump’s primary con that he’s an America-firster, when in fact MAGA has always been MIGA, Make Israel Greater Again. Everything Trump did in relation to Iran was designed to bring on that apocalyptic transformative war that is the wet-dream of his Christian Zionist supporters. First off, he killed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) that Obama had negotiated, then he murdered General Soleimani. Along with the evil Michael Pompeo, he almost got the war they wanted. He just ran out of time. ReTrumplicans always seem to forget that when they go after Biden.
The only people pictured carrying a Confederate flag were two father-and-son Democrats from Delaware (Biden;s state by the way), and there is absolutely no reason to think they were Trump supporters or Christian or anything. Just to clarify the propaganda
” Sooner or later the Kremlin will comprehend that it is confronted by a gangster outfit of the criminally insane. Then what happens?”
Russia will embrace them wholeheartedly, if somewhat naively, and plead its innocence to its deaf “partners” that it so much admires and by whom it so much wants to be accepted. Russia is like a cringing cur: the more it is kicked, the lower it grovels and hangs down its head in shame. The Chinese fight back. They DO NOT want to ‘belong’ to the West and be ‘accepted’ by the West. China is proud and stands tall. No whining, no pleading. Russia is still in the grip of oligarchs and Western-orientated bankers. Will they ever deserve to be truly “free”?
Ah, but what of its supersonic weapons and superb troops? If true, why cringe?
I’ve said again and again that the Putinist regime is just Yeltsin without the booze and better PR. Russia under Yeltsin was finished. Putin did the absolute minimum to resurrect it, no more, and only targeted the oligarchs (Berezovskii and Khodorkovskii, for instance) who dared have political ambitions. After that, he’s as much a neoliberal capitalist tool as Yeltsin, and reports to the same masters. Lucky for him he has a clique of worshippers more than eager to defend him and explain his failures away.
Please don’t confuse Russia for its elite. Two different things. It’s elite is exactly as you described.
Hypersonic weapons are a prerequisite for a sovereign nation. If you do not feed your army, you will feed someone else’s army.
The Putler would become a real Giga-Tsar and person of history if he’d realize that he has to out-grow childish liberal beliefs and ax his predator friends. As I see it, with an elite like Russia’s, all his gains will be blown up by his group of oligarch parasites & friends. They cannot wait to put autistic clowns like the dolbajob Dmitry Medvedev and much, much worse into positions of power. Stalin didn’t have a successor either, which proved to be disastrous.
Meng Wanzhou deputy chair and CFO, Huawei, daughter of the Huawei’s president is still detained (house arrest) in Canada, isn’t she?
China’s companies are for the most part respecting USA sanction to whomever they’ve sanctioned.
Standing really tall indeed.
So all those Iranian oil tankers coming to China are an example of respecting sanctions? That’s good to know.
Those tankers are somewhere in the gray zone among pure smuggling, forfeit papers, turning off transponders etc.
USA has mostly been tolerating it so far, but we’ll soon see whether it will continue after announced strengthening of the control.
Then we all are going to see how “tough” China is.
You obviously don’t follow the situation. More the half a year ago, maybe even a year ago it has been reported about Iranian tankers full of oil floating outside the Chine coast for months not been able to unload the oil. Those tankers had genuine papers and thereby prevented by the Chinese authorities to port due to American sanctions.
Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against China but idealizing it makes nobody a favor.
Additional thing:
Unofficially China has threatened Ukraine that it will cease its investment ban in Crimea if they proceed with nationalization of Motor Sich (engine producer bought by Chines company).
Very, very tall.
Stephanopoulos´ scripted Deep State question was made to rest Biden & removed him from the Oval Office. In today´s America all things foreign have their origins in domestic considerations. All their unstable points are internal, the whole country is falling apart.
The hatred of the West, and especially of the Anglo-Saxon world, towards Russia is terrible and demonic. If they could, they would wipe Russia off the face of the earth and prepare extermination and the Holocaust for the Russians
The Russians must be ready for anything from the West
While conclusion of PCR is evidently true, several of his assumptions are probably not. It’s clear he credits Ray for USSR / US ‘cold war’ ending (? when did that happen?). In actual fact Ray was a creature of the intelop, and not bright. In later stages he was only a bit better that the fella “we” have now. Geezus, the cat was an informer for the phbeye when he was SAG pres…a stooge, if you like. But Ray sems to have gone off the rez….Ray was also a nice guy. (maybe I knew a few people that knew Ray?) I assure you that when Nancy said Ray was being urged to run for gubner the people (who knew Ray) laughed.

Withal, and for myself, I like PCR, and favor his decency and goodness, but don’t take his reasoning seriously.
Generally it seems just now that direct military conflict on large scale is in immediate offing…unable to let go of collapsing empire those whom the gods would destroy have been made mad. The outcome naturally is to accelerate the collapse…
Like MacBeth, the junta call out “hang those who speak of fear!” while that forest army on the horizon moves every closer to their castles.
“Mac” junta would be smart to run away….quick… Minds me of the nazis going to Argentina… Quick, before their war vaporizes them.
There is another reason Biden needs to demonize Russia and Putin right now. He needs to bring back full Russiagate to cover his son’s,and his, corruption. The US MSN is back to claiming the Hunter laptop was a Russian plant. He also needs to distract the US population with lies of Putin’s malice, from the horrible first 2 months of the Biden regime.Could this lead to war? Maybe,it certainly will lead to warlike actions in Ukraine and Syria. To win,Biden and the US just needs to spread chaos and stop Russia from getting her economy back in shape. While Russia,as long as she keeps herself tied to the West, lets that happen. If she would slowly break those ties. And adopt the policies championed by Glaznev and others to free the economy from Western control, then the US can’t win.
Patience, please…this does relate to the topic of destruction of Russia
I have doing a bit of mucking around in The Book of Revelations lately in order to understand the ( to me) strange passivity of my next door neighbor. In early Church history there was a conference sponsored by
non christian( at that time) emperor called Constantine who wanted to promote Christian unity as a way to solidify his regime against a rival regime in Rome. Council of Nicaea, it was called and did seminal but exhausting work complete with faction fight, expulsion etc. etc. but on the last day and against some reservations but to please the emperor-sponsor the Book of Revelations was approved. It was a political diatribe directed towards some wayward Eastern congregations but especially it was directed towards emperor Nero ( 666) and his treatment of his hapless christian peoples.
OK. is this germane to this subject? Oh yes, indeed. you see the Christian church is not persecuted in Looneylandia, rather it sits in the Halls of Power. Yet..it is quiet throughout the banning of singing and congregating. It is quiet throughout the Christmas Day bombings by Israel of their brethren in Christ, the Syrian
Christians. Why? Well, I found it!!! There is a doctrine of Christian exceptionalism called the Rapture. They believe that come the “milhama’ or final conflict, leading up to 2nd coming—that at various points, they get off
Scott-free from suffering, from accountability etc.etc. by being drawn up bodily, suddenly. Now, I also read Christian scholars who shy away from apocalyptic literature because they feel that one’s unacknowledged subjective bias determines how you read ambiguous passages. Also, the Rapture folks have three different places in the Book of Revelations in which they will be rescued from the Hell on Earth that they claim God has created ( we can see that nuclear war is a human creation) and they discuss this ad nauseam.
So, yes, these folks are a danger to others…they feel that destruction of the earth is God ordained and that they will get off easy….if that is not unaccountability/ exceptionalism, what is? So this is why my neighbor is not afraid…she’s delusional but functional.
to teranam13:
Roman Emperor Nero lived the first century A.D. and died 68 A.D.
The 1st council of Nicea was 325 A.D.
How could that fit together ?
I lost a childhood friend because I wouldn’t agree that killing Palestinians would bring him to rapture.
The USA Ian culture is doomed.
The Dollar Empire seems to be working on capturing Russia first and then China. It is pursuing a multipronged strategy towards Russia through regime change, monetary attacks (currency, debt, energy, …markets) and igniting external frozen conflicts in Syria & Ukraine.Russia’s 35% of foreign holdings are in US$ and 35% in Euros. This way it can overwhelm Russia to destabilize and capture it.
“The goals we have towards Russia are very big: we want nothing less than a regime-change in Russia […]. If you really want to bring Russia to its knees economically, you will need a grand coalition of countries, because Europe alone cannot get everything it needs.”

Thanks to Dr. Paul Craig Roberts and Late Professor Steven Cohen for warning for years about the danger of an escalating war with Russia. Unfortunately, American people are too busy in consuming to realise where their insane leaders are leading them toward. As Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings God Almighty be upon him; pbGuh) said, “Your leaders are a reflection of you”. This is how nations end-up in the garbage bin of history.
Now that the Western economic and financial system is imploding and petrodollar arrangement/agreement is in it’s last ropes, the only option left for the senile US leader is to light the world on fire. This is the end of Pax Americana and rise of Pax Judaica before Jesus (pbGuh) returns, and demolishes the corrupt kingdom of Anti-Christ, and together with Imam Al Mehdi (pbGuh) establishes Rule of Law according to the Divine Laws…not man-made law that makes homosexuality and homosexual marriage legal.
Just as God Almighty drowned the corrupt people of Noah (pbGuh) and re-started/reset the world with a pious progeny of Noah (pbGuh), this will be the second greatest reset by God Mighty and Majestic under the leadership of Imam Al Mehdi and Jesus (peace and blessings of God Almighty be upon them; pbGut)…both descendants of sons of Ismael and Isaac (pbGut). It is about time to end all the corruption. May God Almighty save the righteous and upright people. Amen!
From Russia Today comment section: “America is the only country in human history that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.”
The quote appears to date to 1932
I think the 1932 writer was quoting Oscar Wilde (1854-1900). Another quote:
Wilde’s lecture-tour included Leadville, Colorado. The town had a silver mine, so Wilde read from the racy autobiography of Benvenuto Cellini, the famous 16th century silversmith. The audience asked why he had not brought Cellini with him. When Wilde replied that the artist was dead, they asked, “Who shot him?”
In Leadville, even now, it would be a fair question.
The town is at about 13,000 feet. The wiki hosts a fair history.
I did not know the story about Wilde. Many thanks!
I believe the town also hosts one of the deepest mines in the world.
Russian liberals must be interned [Alexandre Dugin].
London has identified Russia as the main threat in its new defense and foreign policy strategy. England has declared war on us. If you are called the main enemy, it means that they are at war with you. It was to be expected. After Joe Biden’s victory in the United States, the situation returns to a difficult confrontation between the unipolar and multipolar worlds. The British Empire has always been mainland Russia’s main adversary, as it was during the Tsarist era. Then it naturally ended up in the epicenter of the Western bloc during World War II and then during the Cold War. As a result, England represents a certain center of Atlanticism, that is, the one embodied in the new world order, which is dictated by globalization.
In fact, the West, along with Biden, has decided to wage the last deadly battle against humanity. It is precisely that part of humanity that does not agree with the leading role of the West itself. Those who question the universality of American and Western values in a new vein. These are not just American values, they are values which include democracy as the rule of minorities over the majority and, therefore, those values where there is an idea that there is no freedom other than that given by the Liberals.
During hybrid information wars, it is necessary to pay attention to the fact that often the effectiveness of such battles is not measured by whether the enemy’s army is in your territory or not yet, but how distance – including ideologically – the enemy has penetrated state network structures, technology and economics. If the United States represents heavy power – brute force in this unipolar world when they wage wars, then England represents soft power. The finest and most efficient British strategists are associated with the financial elite.
It is no coincidence that the Russian financial elite is integrated into England. And London is the most important part of the strategy of the globalists and the partisans of a unipolar world to reformat the consciousness of the Russian elites, to introduce a special value system there. It is to England that all those who come into conflict with the sovereign policy of our President flee. There is a huge colony of Russian oligarchs and even those who still officially show loyalty to Putin, but have already prepared a reserve training ground.
There are tens of thousands of people who are either refugees from Russia who robbed our state and people and fled with money, or Russian businessmen and even acting officials who transported families there.
On the one hand, there are already naturalized and declared enemies of Russia – the oligarchs, on the other hand – the most dangerous part of the bureaucracy and big business, located in England, with hotbeds of influence in Russia itself.
Thus, out of both of them, a single layer of liberals, supporters of globalization, opponents of Russian sovereignty, who are the sixth column, is formed. Because the Fifth Column is not that scary, when some marginalized people take to the streets to quarrel and shout, there aren’t that many, although that is also unpleasant. But the worst – the sixth column – people who are outwardly loyal to Putin who are engaged in economic projects, but who are in fact completely merged with this liberal London group. They have common business, interests and entertainment. They spend time there and partly live there. In fact, it is about the colonial elite, who see Russia only as a source of obtaining funds and exploitation, but at the same time, it has absolutely no solidarity with either the sovereignty of Russia, the president, or the country itself. .
In the context of direct warfare, they will be used as warheads integrated into our economy – warheads. Also, you can’t blame them, say you’re liberal, that means you’re enemies, but that’s the way it is. Because as a rule, a person who shares a liberal ideology is more loyal to centers of liberalism like London or New York than to Russia. These two cities are working tools to promote the interests of LGBT people and many other values that destroy families, cultures and peoples. And the people who share these views are guides inside Russia. And when it comes to bitterness, Western countries are giving these guides an ultimatum: if you want to save your accounts, your real estate and businesses, so go ahead and, say, poison the president, protect Navalny, organize sabotage, remove patriotic groups from influence over power. Otherwise, get the accounts entry first. Thus, representatives of the economic and sometimes even political elite are held hostage by those who have declared war on us.
Therefore, declaring ourselves enemies of England means that the information-economic and psychological warfare on England’s part will intensify sharply. Last thing to pay attention to: we are talking specifically about England, which is no longer a member of the European Union and which has always been the most important partner and support of the United States. We have yet to hear such harsh statements from the greatest continental powers – France, Germany, Italy. Often, on many subjects, they sing with England, and the countries of Eastern Europe take up various Russophobic theses. But today, this is certainly not the case, as the European Union has “made” an extremely depressing impression on many countries, who generally supported any initiative directed against our country. I’m not even sure that Poland, which in no way stands out for its kindness towards Russia,
From now on, the main emphasis on the role of globalists will be on active work with France and Germany. In order to finally finish building their front against Russia. I think we are on the verge of very radical changes, which will probably start in Ukraine after the probable attack by the Ukrainian armed forces in the Donbass.
Since Russia will not be able to intervene, otherwise it will discredit itself and abolish itself as a sovereign state. And in response to that, our large-scale projects with Europe – Nord Stream – will be stopped.
What we have now: England declares war on us, and she has a far more powerful tool than American sanctions, missiles, tracking satellites and other technology. He has access to the center of Russia, to power, to the liberal political elite, which is mobilized in a kind of internal force.
Let me remind you that after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the Americans interned all Japanese in the United States due to extraordinary circumstances. Likewise, after the outbreak of World War II, British fascists in England were also interned just in case. If a war begins against fascist regimes, then the bearers of this ideology, such as, for example, the founder of British fascism, Oswald Mosley, who declared himself a nationalist, are rendered harmless in advance. Now that the time is right, England says Russia has become its main threat. It would be possible to create a temporary internment camp for the Liberals. And not the little ones, who are dangerous for no one, but for serious liberals. And then,

Dugin is right. The word seems to be out among Russian Liberals to start attacking Putin.I’ve noticed a lot more of them out on FB attacking Putin and Russia. One of them blocked me after I disputed his attacks. But he was just one, there are many others doing damage inside Russia.
IIRC after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor the US interned American citizens of Japanese descent regardless of their opinions on the Japanese Imperial regime – in a way it was on the basis of ethnicity, not ideology as was the case with British fascists. I’m not sure that that’s a good comparison Dugin makes.
I find this viewpoint of Alexandre Dugin quite fascinating and consistent with facts as I know and understand them. Yes, a ‘sixth column’ is convincing and represents a serious danger for Russia as a sovereign country. The globalist banking cabal, that probably includes Russian oligarchs, clearly has plans for total control of the human population, including the ‘end of money’ as a token of wealth and its digitalised replacement that gives them total control of all finances. Who cares about the petrodollar? It has served its purpose.
Perhaps this explains the somewhat perplexing relationship between Russia and Israel, and the tolerance of Russia towards repeated Israeli provocations in Syria and the Middle East.
It does not especially detract from Dugin’s argument, but the Japanese persons on the East Coast were left free. He’s over-egged his pudding by saying “all”, when it ought to have been qualified as West Coast (there were very few on the East Coast). Further, the confined adult fellows were free to join the Army. I have know several American veterans of WW2 who were in the West Coast “roundup” and then joined the Marines. Lack of accuracy in argument is a fault. Dugin is smart, but he does not know the US as well as he might.
Deagel.com explains the broader strategic dynamic driving America and the collective West towards nuclear Armageddon.
In short, it is driven by geopolitical desperation mated with a fanatical belief in Western supremacy.
Truly a demonic combination.
“Another particularity of the Western system is that its individuals have been brainwashed to the point that the majority accept their moral high ground and technological edge as a given. This has given the rise of the supremacy of the emotional arguments over the rational ones which are ignored or deprecated. That mindset can play a key role in the upcoming catastrophic events. At least in the Soviet system the silent majority of the people were aware of the fallacies they were fed up. We can see the United States claims about G5 being stolen from them by China or hypersonic technology being stolen by Russia as the evidence that the Western elites are also infected by that hubris. Over the next decade it will become obvious that the West is falling behind the Russia-China block and the malaise might grow into desperation. Going to war might seem a quick and easy solution to restore the lost hegemony to finally find them into a France 1940 moment. Back then France did not have nuclear weapons to turn a defeat into a victory. The West might try that swap because the unpleasant prospect of not being Mars and Venus but rather a bully and his dirty bitch running away in fear while the rest of the world is laughing at them.
If there is not a dramatic change of course the world is going to witness the first nuclear war. The Western block collapse may come before, during or after the war. It does not matter. A nuclear war is a game with billions of casualties and the collapse plays in the hundreds of millions.”

The dreaded Atlantic Council attacked their own for a more reasoned approach to international skullduggery? That’s great! Shows just how crony-infested they have become. I do fear a US military attack on Russia, however–I have dearly beloved relatives in Texas and other parts of the US!
