Once upon a time, a few Russian guys built a super all terrain vehicle and dubbed it Sherp.
Sherp is an ATV with superb off-road performance, with no one else even coming close.
Happy and excited about building such a cool thing, Russian guys invited the Western experts to share a joy of this engineering marvel. The Western experts looked at Sherp and said: “Russians would do anything not to fix their roads.”
I have a counterargument to this sort of expert logic involving French perfume and Russian sauna ( banya.)
“You really need to read more. The dollar volume of the Russia economy is misleading and somewhat irrelevant. What is relevant is that Russians can wander into the store and buy anything from water heaters to toilets to shingles and toilet paper, all made in Russia. The country is virtually self sufficient and, therefore, almost immune to sanctions and inflation caused by currency fluctuations. Why did you think the sanctions failed so miserably? The idea that all they produce is oil is a fiction. Energy in all its forms is only 13% of the Russian economy. Since it currently pays almost 40% of the bills for the federal government, outsiders assume, wrongly, that Russia doesn’t do or make anything else. They forget that Russia is the leading exporter of grain worldwide, a major supplier of industrial machinery and the world’s second largest arms exporter, among other things..”
I have been researching for this SITREP for a month, and there is a trend on YouTube to terminate accounts that post videos of Russian made products and technologies.
What does Russia produce? 1
Information and intelligence systems for driverless buses, cars and tractors
Electric driverless cars and buses Shuttle developed and built by the Auto Motor Scientific Research center NAMI
A Shuttle minibus that are being currently used by some university campuses and other organizations doesn’t even have a room for a driver. A vehicle is being driven by an intelligence system with technical seeing capability several levels of control, and considered to be safer than conventional vehicles. An artificial intelligence receives and processes all the incoming information, this AI brain never sleeps and doesn’t check its phone messages.
NAMI engineers also invented an “Adaptive transportation system” and instead of large buses the streets will get many driverless mini-busses that come and go as they are needed and requested through the system.

Thanks Scott, this is a wonderful article on Russia’s moderation technologies. Little seen in the West. Where all that is heard about is “a gas station” as a country. The Russian genius when not held back by Western attacks is one of the wonders of the modern World.
Stolypin would be proud.
Sctott, thanks for your works!

“there is a trend on YouTube to terminate accounts that post videos of Russian made products and technologies.”
They are delete happy with everything Russian sourced on that site. This became very noticeable after google took over youtube.
Regarding russian truck performance, here is a famous short video of a Russian logging truck:
Can Your Truck do This
http://m.trilulilu.ro/can-your-truck-do-this
I love those types of videos. The Russians will get the job done. I forget now, but back when the Georgia incident broke out, a Russian general said the same, don’t get it twisted boys, the army can still get the job done when asked. These guys are survivors.
Yes, that doesn’t sound and look too good. Paul Craig Roberts likes to criticize Russia’s submissiveness, actual enslavement still, to the West (Nazi BIS in Basle), as in his latest article. At least one who points out the obvious now and then.
Meanwhile Russia’s system (e.g. the companies who make these products) is increasingly and disproportionately taken over (if they weren’t already stolen) by un-Russians. Exactly as happened in the West. By the ones who have access to ‘money’, for obvious reasons. Do they think issuing their own real money (nondefationary, nonusurious) will mean (economic) war right away? Or is the Russian government really insouciant – doesn’t care, at least not for the Russian people – as Roberts wonders?
By labeling Russia (and thereby Putin) “insouciant”, Roberts is (intentionally or otherwise) touting the 5th Columnist/Atlantacist, US-NGO-“protesters” propaganda.
Roberts is near the most strident edge of “permissible dissent” in the US pundit framework, like Englehardt/The Nation. Look to see which non-MSM sites made neither Zidmar’s nor Harvard’s “fake news” lists and you see the “permissible dissent” sites/authors. That way there is a back-up “third way” line of media defense of the US/NATO agenda. It is a careful concoction of half-a-loaf, often faux Dem/Rep partisan, protestations which never produces any discernible slowing of the Deep State, but makes their readers feel “informed” and as if “something is being done”. These sites are fine as far as they go, but stop short of stating the bare facts which might cause large swaths of the US public to disown both Parties at the polling booth. Let alone take by the millions to the streets on a regular basis.
Careful observation of Roberts missives reveals glimpses of his Republican/corporate roots, back at least to the Reagan administration. So while the current crop of US political leadership is in his apparently bipartisan, iconoclastic cross-hairs, damning US foes with faint praise like the “insouciant” article is also his modus operandi. He still sees the US as fundamentally exceptional, only poorly led, rather than the fatally corrupt latest failed attempt by the 0.001% at total world domination.
Even Smedley Butler only mentioned one family name (the Du Ponts) in his statistic-packed “War is a racket” essay, so not naming the key 0.001% guilty parties by US dissidents has a long tradition.
Putin has long been in the process of ousting many corrupt “un-Russian” or pro-US/EU oligarchs, bureaucrats, politicians and 5th Columnists. These actions get sold as “anti-free speech/rights” in US/NATO/Zionist media. But the truth is far different: Putin says yes to anti-corruption, no to colour revolutions.
http://www.fort-russ.com/2017/04/putin-responds-to-navalny-anti.html
At a more fundamental level, Russia (like China) is off-loading large amounts of US$-reserves and replacing them with physical gold or allies’ currency like yuan/renminbi. So Rothschild/US-friendly corporate/bankster types can try to play their usual games, but they cannot negatively influence the Russian economy/banking system as easily as in the Gorbachev/Yeltsin years. That is why the sanctions and low-oil-price gambits had little negative effect on Russia, merely encouraging more self-sufficiency and seeking non-US$ international trade.
Russia is anything but “insouciant” both in Russia and internationally, a term intended to cast Putin in the media as unfeeling and goad him into reacting to US/NATO/Zionist military/covert and economic aggression as the Deep State script lays out. In this regard, Roberts is acting in league with the 5th Columnists and US-NGO-“protesters”, intentionally or otherwise.
I couldn’t help chuckling at Scott’s French perfume counter argument ;-)
The implication was so clear.
How about the counter argument involving the British and their production of anti-theft devices? ;-)
Thank you Scott, it is a whole different world when you dive deep into Russian Industry, commerce, innovations, those who do not want to see are missing on the quality of life that can be achieved without becoming a worshiper of “name brands”, and on the future that is being built by Russia.

Actually though some people have heard about the horrible British camps during the Boer War. The British took over a policy that the Spanish General Weyler, called “The Butcher”, carried out a few years earlier in Cuba during the Cuban Revolution against Spain. As many as a third of Cuba’s population was forced into those camps he established. And estimates of the deaths there are 400 thousand people.

I have always been amazed at how much more advanced some Russian tech is and the open-mindedness they show in their research. The medical field is a good example.
However, it is very unfortunate that their marketing skills are not that good and that we get to experience so little of their technologies in the Western world. I wish this changed. The implications of open-mindedness in R&D are limitless, especially in the medical field.
Ovomaltine
article> Ramdizel manufacturer of specialized vehicles Typhoon
Here is a typo, typical for non-native speakers :-)
It is RemDiesel, not RamDiezel
E not A
Why? Because Rem- is typical abbreviation of Remont – Repairs.
Here we see a typical upward scenario when some repairs shack grows itself into a small repairs plant, and that plant gaining more experience finally grows itself into a small-scale mostly-experimental production plant.
And this all is hinted at with one letter mistake :-D
So the correct title translation would be like “RemDiesel manufacturer of specialized vehicles. Typhoon VDV, Typhoon, Vystrel”.
VDV also might be translated but i ain’t sure how, because neither “airborne” nor “paratroopers” nor “reinforcement” seems to fit this place.
Thanks, guys, for corrections.
Fixed robotics and RemDiesel.
