The Saudi victory announcement against the al Houthis in Aden is premature though there are signs that the al Houthis have lost momentum for the time being. Support for the reinstallation of a government under Saudi-backed President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi is not high among many of the popular resistance forces, and their successes in holding territory is questionable because of lack of support from locals. In turn, the Yemeni army and the popular committees rejected the claims that they had stepped back and reported an advance in al-Mansoura District in Aden Province.
1. July 14, Anti-al Houthi forces almost secured Aden following significant support through “Operation Golden Arrow.” The operation is the first major offensive in Aden since the al Houthis took control in March. Militants recaptured the al Mualla district and much of the Khormaksar district, including Aden international airport, and are continuing to clear Aden’s Crater and the al Tawahi districts.
2. July 15, The next task of Operation Golden Arrow may be the capture of Taiz. Local sources were reporting that there were warships at Mocha port with military assets to deploy to Taiz and that the Saudi Arabia-led coalition airstrikes were targeting the al Houthi-held al Berh Cement Factory, which overlooks the road from Mocha to Taiz.
3. July 14-15, Popular resistance forces seized control of Jabal al Jarah, a strategic location in Taiz city, and were attacking the Hawban area, which controls access to the eastern part of Taiz city and to the airport. For this particular operation, the US-backed Saudi coalition provided the Popular Resistance militias in Aden with armored vehicles from the United Arab Emirates and 300 additional troops.
4. July 15, al Houthi-loyal forces were gathering in the Usailayn district in Shabwah governorate after withdrawing from Ataq, the capital of Shabwah, and the Bayhan district. The al Houthi-loyal forces also withdrew from positions overlooking al Anad military base, which is between Taiz and Aden in Lahij governorate, though the move may be in preparation for a counter-offensive against Aden from the north. The fall of Taiz, however, would begin to isolate forces in al Anad.
5. July 16, Saudi warplanes carried out attacks on Mualla District in the southern Yemeni province of Aden. The air raid came after the Yemeni army and the popular committees rejected the claims that the port city of Aden had fallen into the hands of the Saudi-led coalition. Al Houthi forces report that they advanced in al-Mansoura District, Aden Province and gained control of the areas bordering al-Mansoura.
6. July 16, Saudi airstrikes against Yemen left a child dead and seven others wounded in the capital city of Sana’a, as Riyadh’s military keeps violating the UN-backed humanitarian ceasefire. Saudi jets bombarded al-Anasi District and al-Zahra Mosque in Sana’a. The building of Yemen’s Foreign Ministry, al-Dulaimi military airbase and Sana’a International Airport were also hit.
7. July 16, Saudi fighter jets attacked a mosque, a school as well as health and trade centers in the Munabbih district of Yemen’s northwestern province of Sa’ada. Also, Saudi Apache combat helicopters fired 14 missiles into the Shada and al-Manzala districts of Sa’ada.
8. July 17, Saudi Arabia reportedly sent Special Forces into Yemen under the pretext of escorting fugitive former Yemeni officials into the southwestern Yemeni province of Aden. The forces, which numbered 50, accompanied the officials on their way from the Saudi capital, Riyadh. Saudi Arabia may seek to re-install President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi’s government in Aden city to re-establish a foothold in Yemen.
Operation Golden Arrow has begun rolling back the al Houthis’ gains in southern Yemen, but its success is the question. The operation may not resolve the Yemeni conflict. The Sauidi-led offensive relies on popular resistance forces which are not present in north and central Yemen. Thus, they cannot expect a lot of support from locals. So, a re-unification of Yemeni factions under the Saudi-controlled central governance is a low-probability outcome.
Master Putin will sell Saudis 100 Iskanders and Saudi will clean Yemen soil from unholy worms. Then they will enter Syria to counter Iranians (7000 soldiers) Russians will not forget __not__ to sell Syrians anything what Israhell bombed already several times, and soon all the Lords of the Middle East Mordor, it is the US, Israhell and SA, will rule the Middle East Pivot. Do not forget the Israhell which will gain a Kingdom from sea to Indian Ocean in a close future.
BTW. Ends justify means, so do not bother with the hapless civil victims. Who cares of them, in the end? UN, UNSC, the USA, the RF, BRICS, Israhell? C’mon, bros!
Hmm,
great prior move at the UN.
Thanks for everything Russia, Grasshopper says.
“C’mon, bros!” – sounds right.
Where is the Iran counter moves?
Saudi will prevail as this war continues.

From just 4 hours ago seem Houthis still attacking Saudi Arabia. Seems maybe they are stretched a little thin.

US ‘army’: the speed at which they abandoned their military base in Yemen – from which they launched drone attacks – bodes ill for neocon triumphalism.
anglos need mercenaries to fight on their behalf because anglos are too coward for direct fight. they will fight after the enemy has been visibly weakned by sanctions, low intensity wars and other mercenaries attacks.
looking at the “battles” the english and US armies have been up against does not indicate that it is in a special league. Every time they have had the hugest advantage and yet could not do the enemy in without bribing them with cash.

Last year, British forces in “Helmand” province send a message to the Taliban that all major operations were carried out by the Americans, so if we did not target them, the British forces would not target the Taliban,” Nazir said.
What a cowards!!
OT http://www.sott.net/article/299150-Analyst-suspects-hostile-short-selling-by-Western-financiers-caused-recent-crash-of-Chinese-markets
“A recent sell-off in China’s stock markets is the first major challenge facing the country since the introduction of margin trading, and is believed to have been caused by hostile short-sellers.
In a report on the Chinese news site ifeng.com, an analyst said the sell-off was similar to what took place in Hong Kong in 1997, when the territory’s benchmark Hang Seng Index plunged 60% after peaking at 16,673 points.
The steep drop in share prices in Hong Kong in 1997 was caused by financier George Soros, who shorted both the Hong Kong dollar and the Hang Seng Index futures, the analyst said, adding that similar practices were observed in the last two trading sessions in China.
According to the analyst, massive funds entered the futures market, building a short position and leading to declines in the stock markets. The size of the funds and the sophisticated trading methods are beyond the ability of Chinese institutional investors, the analyst said.
In fact, Bill Gross of Janus Capital, a co-founder of global investment firm PIMCO, said in early June that the Shenzhen Stock Exchange’s Component Index presented perfect short-selling opportunities.
At the time, the index was at a seven-year high but plummeted 30% on Gross’s comments. Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse have also been bearish on Chinese shares recently.”
So Penelope,
in your estimation (although we can expect resistance against the BRICS – even though that may/will not result in a fair world) – this is an attack against the BRICS?
So what?
China’s stocks were likely overvalued — check the market over the past year or so — and Walmart and other US retail has been going down which would cut into China’s profits and volume of sales.
That’s not saying that vultures were not trying to take advantage, but the world economy is in trouble so that would include China.
Not on topic but I’ve been wondering where “Texas” is. He’s the american soldier (real first name is Russell) who was doing some stories on victims in the Donbass. I thought he was very effective and was looking forward to more reports from him. Suddenly, nothing. Does anyone know what happened to him?
gc
He was saying that FB was trying to ban pro-Donbass acounts. And he was thinking he was next.So he was telling people he was moving his posting to VK. I’m not sure other than maybe that.
Uncle Bob, sorry–not very bright this morning: What is FB? What is VK?
FB is facebook, VK is a Russian social media.
I looked for thread about if Federal Reserve is part of government and couldn’t find it, but there is a neat video with expert Jim Wert who talks about it (something like 25 minutes in but worth watching it all) and how the banking system was formed in US.

Jim Wert Presentation at 2013 AMI Monetary Reform Conference
Published on Nov 8, 2013
One of the premier speakers at the 9th Annual AMI Conference was Jim Wert, who gave insight into his over three decades of work in Legislative Counsel of the US House of Representatives.
Until April 1, 2011, Jim Wert was a senior counsel in the Legislative Counsel’s Office of the US House, where he worked for almost 31 years, 26 of them writing banking, financial services, credit, and coins and currency legislation and laws such as Dennis Kucinich’s HR 2990 of the 112th Congress. The Legislative Counsel’s Office provides legislative drafting services to the committees and Members of the House of Representatives on a nonpartisan, impartial, and confidential basis.
Today he participates in, and is very much interested in, continuing discussions on what a sustainable and fully functional economic system might look like and what kind of financial system is evolving, or could evolve, to support the development of such an economic system.
Thanks Blue. I’ll check out the Jim Wert link. No, the Fed is privately owned, not part of govt. A good link for short pieces that answer many econ/financial questions is

Update:Yesterday he posted again on FB (Facebook). And VK is a European (mostly Eastern European) Facebook type, social media site. Its very popular in Russia,Ukraine, etc.I’ve used it a lot over this last year to check the opinions of people in Ukraine (and Russia) on this crisis.People can “glean” a lot from reading what is said, and “not” said on their pages.Who their friends are, pictures posted, languages used, etc. As an example: There was a popular story in the Russian Press a few months ago over a Ukrainian reporter who got a job in Russia on TV.He got attacked by both sides. To the junta side he “betrayed Ukraine”.To many Russians he was a “fascist” maidan supporter that “infiltrated Russia”.I had come across his VK account months before, when I was checking opinions on VK.He was at the beginning a “maidanite”,taken in by the “European values” argument. But I could see a difference from his account (more what was not there, than what was). Most of the fascist supporters “proudly” post maidan pictures on their accounts,he didn’t.And there were some posts about how shocked he was over being accused by the fascists as “not loyal”.He tried to ignore the whole thing.I got the impression he regretted being tricked by the maidan leaders. And tried to just pretend everything was the same.I’m guessing that that wasn’t working well. And he finally decided he couldn’t support them anymore. But wasn’t the type to actually fight them.Really somewhat of a tragic figure. And from my survey of accounts, that I believe are representative of the majority of Ukrainians today. There are very many younger male accounts that show pictures of themselves in the military,in 2013 or before. But very few with pictures of post 2013.And many, many, accounts don’t even mention the coup and war.Its as if they want to act like it didn’t/isn’t happen/happening.I think, unlike what many believe, the fall of the junta wouldn’t be opposed by that many people. The pro-junta,and pro-rebel sides, are dwarfed by the vast middle. Those that are just wanting peace and quiet.
Uncle Bob,
All my usual feeds from the NovoRussian side have stopped on FB. Also, links to FB
Uncle Bob,
All my usual feeds from the NovoRussian side have stopped on FB. Also, links to FB don’t work.
But South Front came back a couple of days ago.
There is a complaint feature on FB. I used it to demandan explanation and told everyone I know to do the same. No answer of course.
But at least if people complain – the more the better – the harder it is for FB to claim they stand for freedom of speech (and they do, vocally.)
Doesn’t surprise me of course, or that its happening with renewed MSM garbage about the MH-17, as well as all the disinfo about Zahk and the MoD in DNR.
NovoRussia news reports from Zahk that 70,000 UAF are amassing on the borders and that more are coming each day.
Shelling is now taking place in the centre of Donetsk.
Add to that the Right Sector upsurge and I reckon they are trying to tamp down on a new offensive, and deflect attention from the disarray in Kiev.
Probably an accelerated initiative in the wake of Nuland’s visit.
Waiting to hear what the Russians are doing.
I’ve said for years that the “Achilles Heel” of Saudi Arabia is the Shia east (and been insulted by the Empire loyalists over it). That is the major oil region of Saudi Arabia. And an uprising there could destroy the Saudi oil production. The Saudis treat the Shia there worst than the fascists are trying to treat Russians in Ukraine. That there hasn’t been an outright revolution there in the past is because of the Saudi reign of terror in the region. And because the Shia haven’t been “encouraged” by outside groups to revolt. The attacks on Yemen and the Saudi anti-Shia campaign against Shia states, could change all that.
Sorry, that comment was meant for “Anonymous at 10:49” .
There are four million or so Yemeni oil workers in Saudi Arabia. Islamic State cell was uncovered in Saudi Arabia (probably more) who were in the process of attacking.
Although they do have a less corrupt security apparatus than the Americans (can’t defend themselves), Saudis still rely on not being attacked. If Yemeni oil workers decide to take on Saudi, they can easily cause permanent damage to oil reservoirs (pressure fluctuations). Islamic State can also do quite a bit with its innovative armored VBIEDS.
Just because the Saudis are not being attacked doesn’t mean they are strong. Probably less than a dozen Yemeni/double agent oil workers can destroy Saudi Arabia in short order. Their army would dissolve in such a situation.
Hi
You are right, Shia minority in oil regions is a problem for Saudi Arabia. Nonetheless, it’s a factor, not the main thing of ongoing destabilization in the kingdom. We will need a bit more then 1 map and 1 page of the text to describe all the processes there.
Kind regards,
SouthFront
Anonymous, you said, “Islamic State can also do quite a bit with its innovative armored VBIEDS. ” Do you really think it likely that ISIS wd attack the country who is paying them? Qatar & S Arabia are their mealtickets. I know there have been a few stories in the media about Saudis being attacked by ISIS, but I’ve been assuming this is just protective coloration– to mislead.
You think it’s real? How do you figure?
These maps are a great idea. Very helpful for people to see what is happening.
Hi
Thanks, we are сreating a greater variety of products (videos, images, text analyses) next months.
Kind regards,
SouthFront Team
Hi South Front ! thanks for all your great work…finally I was able to contribute to your work a little…every month a little..better than nothing.
Hello Ann,
Thank you for the contribution and warm words. We are doing all what we can to make interesting&important content. And now with your help)
Kind regards,
SouthFront
Hi SF,
BTW,I think Chris is doing a great job on your videos.
I don’t know if you all are following the chem-spraying phenomenon. Here in central coast California there is routine chemspraying from aircraft every three days. From my backyard I can see three of them doing it. About 4 days ago they missed a spraying session & haven’t sprayed since. So the sky changed from the sickly blue-gray that we have become accustomed to, back to the normal deep blue w white puffy clouds.
So at last it rained last night, first substantial rainfall since Beggar’s Night. I guess it can’t rain w/o clouds & the chemsprayed sky has no clouds at all, just haze.
If you’re new to this area of oligarchic wrong-doing, here’s a link: http://www.geoengineeringwatch.org/
That’s not geo-engineering, just mundane spraying carcinogenic, toxic, and endocrine disruptive agricultural chemicals. What — you are biased against two-headed frogs with 7 legs and bees which fly backwards and upside down?
Perhaps some will be interested in this — from an email I received via ImperialQuagmire list.

I find the colours on this map really hard to see, except in its highest resolution. Its especially hard to see the difference between the pro-Hadi groups and Houthis.
