YouTube is censoring SouthFront’s new 1.5-hour long video “Russian Military Campaign in Syria 2015-2018“.
This video is a detailed summary of military and political developments in Syria since the start of the Russian military operation until now. It was released by SouthFront on August 11.
Less than 2 hours after the release, this video was placed behind an age restriction because it allegedly includes “violent or graphic content that appears to be posted in a shocking, sensational, or disrespectful manner”. The age-restriction clearly impacts a possible reach of the video because it does not allow people without YouTube accounts to watch it.
SouthFront immidiately appealed this age restriction. Our video “Russian Military Campaign in Syria 2015-2018” includes no “graphic content” and was made solely for informational purposes. So, it does not violate any rules.
After the further review, YouTube found that SouthFront’s video “does not violate” Community Guidelines. However, the video remained age-restricted because “it may not be appropriate for a general audience”.
Summing up: The video violates no YouTube Community Guidelines, but despite this, a manual decision was made to age-restrict the video in order to limit its possible reach of the audience. This situation can be considered as another example of censorship imposed against alternative media and an independent point of view.
SouthFront has repeatedly faced various sophisticated attacks aimed at censoring it on YouTube [systematic ‘false flagging’ and other hostile actions] or damaging its website.
For example, about a year ago, SouthFront became a target of preplanned campaign to damage its work:
In mid September 2017, SouthFront’s YouTube channel received two community guidelines strikes and its work on this platform was temporairly frozen. Then, thanks to public support of our audience and partners, SouthFront was able to restore its channel and continue releasing videos on YouTube.
Separately, the projet faced a new wave of propaganda aimed at damaging it in the MSM. In October 2017, Military.com, The Hill, McClatchyDC and The Daily Beast united their efforts arguing that SouthFront among few other websites targets “US military personnel and veterans with conspiracy theories, misinformation, and other forms of junk news about military affairs and national security issues.”
The recent developments on YouTube may indicate that a similar campaign could be launched against SouthFront once again soon.

On Android (so for phone and tablet) there is an app with is really good, NewPipe.
You can “subscribe” inside the app, to any youtube channel… but without any real subscription, you don’t need to register inside youtube.
When i read this message from southfront, i went to my NewPipe on my tablette, then went to the Southfront page, and i have been abble to watch the video, without any restriction and registration.
There seems to be a growing internet censorship program.
I doubt that this is a sudden, simultaneous decision by independent entities to stop the free flow of information.
So, who is behind it?
Switch to D.tube. https://d.tube :
No more problems !
WHAT IS DTUBE ?
D.Tube is the first crypto-decentralized video platform, built on top of the STEEM Blockchain and the IPFS peer-to-peer network.
Crypto incentive
D.Tube aims to become an alternative to YouTube that allows you to watch or upload videos on IPFS and share or comment about it on the immutable STEEM Blockchain, while earning cryptocurrency doing it.
Resistant to censorship
Because of the decentralized nature of IPFS and the STEEM blockchain, D.Tube is not able to censor videos, nor enforce guidelines. Only the users can censor it, through the power of their upvotes and downvotes.
A fair platform
On DTube, there are no hidden algorithms controlling the visibility or monetization of certain videos over others. All of DTube’s data is public, and can be analyzed by anyone with an internet connection.
To deliver the best user experience D.Tube runs without advertising. Users remain free to advertise any product or service they would like, directly inside their own videos, at their own risk of losing their subscribers.
a good video about who’s in charge – WE ARE – we can decide where to go – and we will once youtube gets too awful – the new Corbett Report – a rant – but its message is clear
https://youtu.be/EqC82zmHccU
The purpose of the age-restriction is to force viewers to log in to their Google/Youtube accounts in order to view the video. This gives Google (and assorted spooks) an exact record of who has watched it.
I have been watching Southfront videos on the Saker for several years now, where they are hosted on the Southfront website and not on Youtube (generally). Because it does not have the extreme bandwidth and content distribution network of Youtube, the videos tend to load slowly and haltingly. But one of the benefits of the natively-hosted videos is that they permit me to download them, and watch them later offline.
To circumvent YT restrictions simply add characters “nsfw” (not suitable for watching) into address and enjoy watching.
Example:
https://m.nsfwyoutube.com/watch?v=pDgUD6kPcRA&feature=youtu.be
brilliant – but can people upload new videos onto nsfwyoutube ?
I watched this video before it was censored. It is an impressive and professional summary. There is no “age restricted” material in it at all, just all the facts about the war in Syria. Youtube is openly evil with such political censorship. SouthFront should consider moving to alternative hosting platforms as soon as possible.
Donation sent to SouthFront.
“facts” are what they want to age-restrict.
Or, as other have noted, it is a mechanism to force people to log-in and thus be easily tracked. Nothing aggravates google than circumventing their ability to track you.
what the heck ???
Well,it seems that censoring of Alex Jones is not some deep metaphysical mystery, but a censorship, plain and simple. Now it is happening to you and to many others. It is a purge.
But , why ? I mean, peoples are already informed, it is too late to censor anything. Why now ?
I don’t know who is behind all this. It could be corporate directors collaborating together, it could be intelligence operatives putting pressure on the media, it could be neocon organization members or it could be all of the above and / or more.
The one thing that they don’t seem to understand is the effect that this is having on people like me. All my life I have given the benefit of the doubt to the mainstream media. When they failed in their jobs (as they did many times) I attributed it to a combination of incompetence, obsequiousness or a misguided form of patriotism. I never once thought that the “mainstream media” was a completely rigged game of disinformation – which apparently it is.
Whomever is behind this has now convinced me that we have been living in a “Matrix” of deception and that it was done deliberately all along. I am sure I am not the only one who has come to this conclusion. But this obvious overt censorship will end up backfiring as more and more people conclude that the “system” has no moral legitimacy at all and deserves no one’s support.
Somebody obviously is not too happy with Russian success in Syria. Some months back Trump boasted of US “success” against ISIS, stating that the US “killed” 70.000 ISIS members. He mistook the US for Russia.
Watching these attempts at censorship I can only conclude that the elites in the West are losing their nerve. Censorship always backfires, achieving opposite effects. In such cases even when the media is telling the truth, it is automatically either questioned or disbelieved.
That Southfront video is available both on android and windows.I wonder why Thesaker is still using using u tube when alternative platforms like bitchute and others are now available?
I look at a lot of Russian websites like RT and Sputnik, but I am wondering if Southfront is backed in some way
by the Russian federation? Nothing wrong with that but I would like to know more about its funding, Southfront is always asking for funding from its viewers.
I am using Firefox browser, on which I have installed the “YouTube Unblocker Plus 2.0.3” add-on.
Activating this particular add-on on YouTube’s page https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDgUD6kPcRA (Russian Military Campaign in Syria 2015-2018), I am able to watch the video. (BTW, I am located in the USA.)
However (!) … YouTube does not allow downloads of this video file: my video Downloadhelper add-on says: “No media to process on the current tab”!…
Questions:
(1) Does anyone know some way to download this file?
(2) Any other web-sites where this video is posted? Rutube.ru apparently does not have it.
BTW, the full transcript of the video is at https://southfront.org/russian-military-campaign-in-syria-2015-2018/ .
There are several free YouTube downloading utilities available, online and desktop. One I use is this Free YouTube Down.loader: https://youtubedownloader.com/
You can enter the URL of an age-restricted video and it downloads it without asking for a login.
I f you just want to view, as mentioned above there’s nsfwyoutube, com
Folks, use youtube-dl running in a terminal to download videos to your PC. If you are running a Linux variant, it is pretty painless to install youtube-dl, but if you are on Windows then it is a bit more involved as you have to install Python etc. Go on give it a go.
@ takethatandthat
I am using Linux Mint 17 with youtube-dl (version 2014.02.17) installed. However, typing on the command line
youtube-dl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDgUD6kPcRA
returns only the following error message:
[youtube] Setting language
WARNING: unable to set language:
[youtube] pDgUD6kPcRA: Downloading webpage
ERROR: Unable to download webpage:
Any remedies?
Type:
sudo youtube-dl -U
then try again.
@takethatandthat thank you. Works fine under Kubuntu 18.04. A useful tool until youtube is replaced.
Non Russian speakers/readers using youtube-dl to download videos either to watch offline or archive might find that many of the subtitled videos translated and posted thanks to The Saker community have no embedded subtitles, instead having separate subtitle files. For example the ones here:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgh-2Oe7nK5lp_H3f0SQ89Q/videos
This means an additional command [–write-sub] needs to be inserted into the youtube-dl download instruction which will download the subtitles at the same time and with the same name as the video but as a text document with an altered file extension applicable to subtitles (such as .srt or .vtt).
So this command:
youtube-dl https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUO_ttBZjFg
Becomes this:
youtube-dl –write-sub https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUO_ttBZjFg
Provided the two files are kept with identical names in the same folder, the subtitles should play automatically using VLC media player but can be switched on or off through menu options. I have no experience on this subject with other media players but assume it works in the same manner.
More youtube-dl assistance can be found by using the help command:
youtube-dl -h
In light of the concerted efforts recently to ban certain alternative news outlets I get the feeling that “they” are planning to unleash a major false flag operation in the near future. What they don’t realize is the cat is out of the bag now and any future incident will be throughly scrutinized. A growing segment of the population world-wide is simply refusing to believe anything that the establishment, both in government and in the media, says.
Good point.
I, myself, am now wondering: Just how far do the lies go?
@ Gerorge of the Jungle
you are right. even the informations in the video are not so damaging to PTB right now. but in situations that may arise could have a colossal role in people’s awareness. People generally recognize the truth, say with the heart, while the mind can suggest whatever it wants. Usually for the truth, just very few words are needed. if the truth is spoken. Youtube is not on “our” side. it is good to know that.
“A lie travels half way around the world while the truth is still getting its boots on.” -Mark Twain
But once the ‘boots’ are on, lies get trampled in the dust.
I just went to YouTube. No problem accessing the program.
I just followed a link above, and got the message that I’m supposed to show my papers to Google in order to pass the checkpoint and view the video.
Google loves to convince people to “stay signed-in”, so one possibility is that you are in some sort of persistent sign-in state with your gmail or other google account, thus you see the video without being prompted to sign-in. Staying permanently signed in with google gives them more powers to track on the web. Often, google makes that checkbox be on by default so if you don’t want google following you around the web you have to uncheck that box when you sign in to read email or something.
I used the trick above of inserting “nsfw” into the URL address and that works.
Thanks, Southfront. Its an interesting video.
BTW, by changing the name of the website as above, you are visiting a different website than the youtube address. I know nothing about this address, and thus am not able to report anything more than the fact that this video did play by viewing it through this other site.
Anyone can download the full MP4 version from one of my websites:
http://qbusters.com.au/Russian%20Military%20Campaign%20in%20Syria%202015-2018.mp4
TheSaker is welcome to stick this link in an appropriate place. I am only using a tiny fraction of the paid for bandwidth.
Most browsers need an addon to play MP4 files. Alternatively, an MP4 player may be used.
They no longer fear reproach.

Time to set up an alternative to YouTube, there are no free lunches. As with MS-DOS, Gates gave it for free to hook you up, not because “he loves freedom” nor Google provides services because “they don’t want to be Evil”. Same god with $
utube ABSOLUTELY did the right thing
the age-retriction are more for the snowflakes
otherwise ‘Merica would suffer greatly – for shortage of crybox
and god knows what else uncivil snowstorm will follow when they wake up
Stop b*tching! utube deemed all ‘Merica and the world as under age (since 1984)
utube needs to protect you (from you)
Just do it! OBEY! Its good for you!
Google/U-tube, Bing/Windows, Facebook, Twitter etc have doubtless been watching the metrics closely and the numbers must recently have hit a trigger point that made them move. They’ve all been playing Mr. Nice Guy, tightening incrementally over the last year or so, to help the audience “along the path to Right Think”.
I guess it wasn’t working because their recent attempts have the whiff of panic about them. The reason it looks that way is that the Mr. Nice Guy approach had not yet run its course. It was surely intended to arrive at this point eventually, by incrementally allowing each new normal to be accepted. They look like they’re out of runway.
Their metrics must have been ringing alarms, saying that they were losing. The obviously coordinated frontal attack on Alex Jones, arguably the highest profile “conspiracy site”, says they’ve given up on incremental, and have altered course. In-your-face blatant censorship of the highest profile sites, leaving incremental to apply to lower and lower profile sites, until they’re all gone.
That too looks like it’s back-firing. Alex Jones says 5.6M(!) new subscribers signed up on his site in the immediate aftermath. I wonder what Stage 3 will look like. Maybe it’ll look like nothing at all – the info-space just goes dark and we go back to 1990.
Another alternative method for viewing material on Theytube:
replace the ‘you’ in the title bar for ‘hook’:
https://hooktube.com/watch?v=pDgUD6kPcRA
Downside is that this method potentially deprives the uploader of viewcount and ad revenue.
For the likes of google, with a real motto of ‘We do evil’, (you didn’t expect evildoers to tell the truth, did you?), whenever you do a search on their site, and they don’t give you the results you want/they include totally irrelevant info, don’t forget to fill in the ‘feedback’ at the bottom of the page, and give them some critical feedback, for being timewasters, and not good enough etc.
Also, many times when I have used private browsing in google maps, it gives my correct location as if I was not doing any private browsing.
This video is now up and available on Globalresearch.ca. https://www.globalresearch.ca/video-counter-terrorism-and-russias-military-campaign-in-syria-2015-2018/5650314
Note that it is a google free presentation using something called jwplayer embedded into the page. Just a reminder that you don’t have to use youtube to put video onto a webpage. It was nice for awhile that youtube made it easy, but now that they are banning everything, its good to remember there are other methods.
