Spalding Message II

Designed by Spalding, and built in partnership with Toyo Rubber, the Message II launched in 1981 and was seen as a cutting edge design, winning awards from Motorfan Magazine for best spoke type wheel and readers choice.  Spalding reportedly described the design as “like a steam locomotive piston.”

Sizes are 13 and 14″ only, with mild RWD widths & offsets.  Catalogs suggest 5H PCD’s were also available, but we’ve never observed them.  This is an ultra-rare wheel, despite a fairly meaningful production run that lasted to at least 1986.
