Speed Star Star Mesh

The prequel to the well-known Formula Mesh, the Star Mesh was Speed Star’s first mesh wheel, launching in 1976.  Sharing sizes with the F.3. and the F.2. and shells with the rest of the F-series, the Star Mesh came in 13 and 14 inch diameters only.  Colours were disappointingly more limited than the rest of the F series line.  Only gold and black were available.

At a scant 4.2 kg for 14 6J size, the Star Mesh is as light as any other wheel of the era.  Unfortunately, they can be extremely challenging to find, and often get classified as unknown or generic mesh.  That is a shame, as they are very deserving of the Speed Star name, and a great alternative to other more common mesh designs.
