RT reports:
Two people – a self-defense member and a Ukrainian soldier – were killed and two others wounded after snipers opened fire from a partially inhabited building near a military research center in Simferopol. One sniper was detained, another is on the run.
As RT producer Lida Vasilevskaya arrived at the scene, the perimeter of the Ukrainian military topography and navigation center was already surrounded by men in camouflage and the situation was “calm.”
The local Interior Ministry said in a press release that shooting came from a house under construction opposite the center and targeted Crimean self-defense units as well the military center itself.
“Earlier today self-defense units were informed that a group of armed men had been discovered in a partially inhabited building,” the press release said. “As the self-defense were taking measures to check, they came under fire, presumably from a sniper rifle,” police said, adding that the shooting came “in two directions from one spot.”
One self-defense unit member was killed and another wounded, police said. One Ukrainian soldier from the military research center was also killed, and another was wounded.
Crimea police and Prosecutor’s Office staff are investigating the attack.
According to RT information, the scene of the shooting is a small Ukrainian military topography research center, and the majority of the staff who work there are women. The center’s area is rather small, and servicemen have only six machine guns and three Makarov guns to provide security. The center reportedly decided to join up with Crimea and Russia and was preparing paperwork to go over.
Crimean Prime Minister Sergey Aksyonov told Russia’s Channel One that this attack is reminiscent of the Maidan sniper shootings.
“At the moment two people are dead as a result of a provocation, a sabotage. The situation allows me to conclude that the same techniques that were used at Maidan are being used now because most likely one assaulter fired at both sides – one Ukrainian serviceman and one man from self-defense forces of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea were killed.”
“The location of the sniper was identified,” he added.
Earlier, Ukrainian servicemen told RT that last night unknown groups tried to break into several military bases, but self-defense units managed to prevent them from entering.
“Guys from self-defense told me today that they were afraid of provocations,” Lida Vasilevskaya tweeted.
The Crimean Interior Ministry did not rule out a provocation aimed at complicating the situation in the city after Crimea and Sevastopol were accepted into the Russian Federation.
An attack by Russians on a Ukrainian military base TODAY makes no sense whatsoever. Think about it for a moment
— Alexey Yaroshevsky (@Yaro_RT) March 18, 2014
Immediately after the attack, despite the initial confusion and lack of verified details of what exactly happened in Simferopol, as well as a stream of conflicting reports, Kiev claimed that “Russian soldiers started shooting at Ukrainian servicemen.”
“This is a war crime without any statute of limitations,” coup-appointed Prime Minister Yatsenyuk told a meeting at the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
In another immediate reaction to the accident, acting President Aleksandr Turchinov authorized Ukrainian troops stationed in Crimea to use firearms to “defend their lives.”
What Ukrainian troops are stationed in Crimea?
Snipers are the Western fascists’ preferred tool. Since Lithuania in 1991, through Venezuela in 2002 and on to Libya, Egypt and Syria. Yet the filthy vermin of the Western MSM lie-factories, cannot and will not see it, and if the evidence is shoved in their lying faces, they simply deny it out of existence. And they all speak with one voice, that 100% conformity of opinion that is the hall-mark of the Western ‘Free Press’. One wishes for some new lexicon, with new words to describe these villains in all their wickedness.
@Nora: for years now the Crimea had a mix of Russian and Ukrainian troops. Most have recently joined Crimea and, since today, they will become part of the Russian military. Some Ukrainian units, however, did not want to join the Crimean authority and remained loyal to Kiev. Remember that a lot of Ukrainians serving in Crimea were not locals, so they might have mixed or even outright hostile feelings towards the idea of Crimea joining Russia. So some units remain firmly behind Kiev, other take their time to think it all over and take a decision. That is what is meant by Ukrainian unit. In the near future those who will throw their lot with Russia will have to make that decision official, and those who want to remain with the Ukraine will be given safe passage out of the Peninsula. This is not a big deal anyway, as these are mostly small units with no military significance or meaningful firepower. At this point this is a social problem which hopefully will be dealt with in a reasonable and pragmatic way.
Kind regards,

I read an article in The View last week that stated there was 34 different Ukrainian military groups in Ukraine. It claimed 4 of these remained loyal to Ukraine, while the other 30 either joined Crimea or chose to remain neutral. Crimea since independence this week told the units that chose to remain Ukrainian or had not decided that they need to chose and either become Crimean or return to the Ukraine. It will probably take a few days for all this to get sorted out and for those units choosing to return to Ukraine to do so. The Ukrainian unit fired upon by the snipers was in the process of joining Crimea.
That may be a reason that particular unit was singled out by the snipers, as the Kiev junta, and their Israeli-American masters, would know which units were returning and which had decided to join Crimea.

@Nora & вот так: yet another example of the fact that a lot, if not most, of the best information and ideas here come not from me, but from knowledgeable posters like вот так to whom I am grateful not only for this comment, but for all of the excellent posts he makes here!
Guys – you rock and I am one lucky guy to have you here :-)

New incident:
Стрельба в Симферополе велась из одной точки – по бойцам самообороны и по соседней украинской военной части (At the entrance to the Crimea SBU detained with drugs, money and recruiting addresses)
http://www.c-inform.info/news/id/1137
The auto translation is not very clear, but it appears an Ukrainian SBU agent was intercepted carrying a lot of cash and addresses of “recruits” (contacts?) along with recruiting materials (propaganda leaflets, etc. ?) He had been seen making several trips before he was searched.

Many thanks and right back atcha. :) You provide first rate analysis and information that probably doesn’t exist anywhere else. We are all very lucky to have someone like you who takes the time and makes such exemplary efforts to inform others. You, and this site, are what the web is meant to be.

L!FE NEWS has some more details:
Боевиков, расстрелявших бойцов самообороны ищут в воинской части (Militants killed self defense figher who was guarding Ukrainian unit) http://lifenews.ru/news/129394
(auto trans with attempt to clarify) “Crimean Ukrainian riot police cordoned off the territory of the military unit in Simferopol, where, according to intelligence data, hiding three bandits.
According to the correspondent of Life News, which operates in these minutes at the scene, it was a provocation.
It is known that on Victory Avenue came three men, believed to be from the “right sector,” who shot at self-defense fighters, then fled.
One person died on the spot. According to eyewitnesses, his body was taken away.
Coordinator of the Prime Minister of Crimea Sergey Aksenov by security forces reported that intelligence services operate on the territory of the military unit (Office of Central Military Topography and navigation GU APU) and look for militants.(the Crimean unit was guarding the Ukrainian unit)
According to local residents, the provocateurs were hiding in an unfinished building opposite the military unit. This message and responded defense fighters, deciding to check the information.
As one of the witnesses of the shooting, provocateurs opened fire on unarmed self-defense detachment members.
– Were the guys of self-defense, guarding the infirmary. They were unarmed. At some point, shots were fired from a firearm – eyewitness. – One of the guys shot in the leg. When he was approached by friend to pull him away, he got straight to the liver. He died on the spot.
Shots were fired from a single point in two directions: on the men self-check information about the presence of armed men in an unfinished building (self defense guards), as well as towards the Ukrainian military unit stationed nearby.
The basic version, which is worked by operatives – they were militants from western Ukraine (speculation?).
According to the latest information in a car was detained in the cabin which soldiers found weapons of self-defense of the Crimea. Verified involvement host vehicle to events on Victory Avenue (self defense forces traced a car to a cabin where weapons were found and are suspected to be of the snipers).”
From this, it appears no sniper was caught, as RT claimed?

Rumors are that sniper was caught and it was a 17-year-old from Lvov. No official statement yet.

“12:40 GMT: The shooting near a military research center in Crimea which left two people dead is a provocation, Russian envoy to NATO Aleksandr Grushko told the alliance.
“We informed them that we treat the incident as a provocation. No Russian troops took part in it. There was no siege of a base, as the Ukrainian authorities reported. An investigation into what happened is underway. Those responsible would not go with impunity,” he later told Interfax.
The incident in Simferopol happened Tuesday near a small Ukrainian military topography research center. One Ukrainian soldier from the center and one Crimean self-defense trooper were killed in a shooting. Crimean authorities said both were killed by a sniper.”
Strong words directed at both the bandera junta and NATO. I like this “new” Russia that doesn’t waste any time and gets right in the face of these war criminals. Russia is taking a very pro-active role in countering zionazi propaganda, as well as their moves on the ground.

Fatal incident in Simferopol ‘provocation’ – Russia’s ambassador to NATO http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_03_19/Fatal-incident-in-Simferopol-provocation-Russias-ambassador-to-NATO-3832/
That repulsive child molester Rasmussen was trying to pin the snipre attack on Russia and was put in his place. It also confirms the shooter in custody a “is 17-year-old Ukrainian from the country’s western region of Lvov and member of the nationalist Right Sector.” This raise a question of the sort of recruiting practices right sector uses where they train and indoctrinate 17 year olds to randomly murder people. Hitler youth, anyone? It is also consistent with the sort of “Muslim” terrorists zionazi-nazistan uses against Russia, China and throughout Asia and Africa, who also recruit and use children to commit heinous crimes.

“15:14 GMT: As Crimea prosecutors say the investigation into the Simferopol shooting is on-going, the US [State] Department seems to have had the answers from the very start.
Jen Psaki @statedeptspox – Putin congratulates Ukraine soldiers for not firing their arms, and then allows one to be shot. RussiaIsolated @UkrProgress 6:34 AM – 19 Mar 2014
&
Jen Psaki @statedeptspox – Stop the shooting in Simferopol. Clear that Russia shot first, and now must show restraint. Ukraine @UkrProgress 6:35 AM – 19 Mar 2014″
It’s clear the subhuman scum were behind that sniper attack, just like they were behind the Maidan sniping. And the incident had been perpetrated with the intent to blame Russia from the start. I noticed a bit of humourous, self-unaware honesty in Psaki’s @ sign: state-depts-pox.
Also:
13:51 GMT:
A press briefing was held to address the situation with the two deaths and two further injuries at the hands of unknown snipers shooting at Crimean and Ukrainian military personnel in Simferopol.
“Experts familiar with the crime scene believe the crimes perpetrated today bear a strong resemblance to the actions of snipers on the Maidan on February 18-21,” Crimean prosecutor, Natalya Poklonskaya, told journalists.
Detailing what happened, she recounted how several unarmed officers of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, in prior agreement with the commander of the Ukrainian armed forces and with Kiev, have come to oversee progress on a joint matter regarding mapping.
Several of their colleagues, who at the time were outside the secure area of the compound, were fired upon. Bullets came from a similar direction, but several trajectories, resulting in the death of two officers on both sides and a further two injuries. An investigation is ongoing and the charges are in line with Article 115 of the Ukrainian criminal code – murder.”
I think this further confirms my belief that Israel-America had their bandera nazi proxies target these soldiers specifically because they were in the process of switching over to Crimea. This would cause maximum morale damage, and disrupt the process in Crimea of sorting out which Ukrainian soldiers chose to stay and which to return to Ukraine. It would also create anger in Ukraine soldiers against Russia, something that’s not really there right now, and a huge problem for the bandera nazi war making plans.
BTW, when the Crimean prosecutor, quoted above, took her job in Crimea, the bitchy queens in Kiev cried “traitor” and made issued warrants [their equivalents of] for her arrest. Those quislings are beyond pathetic.

And another update…
Crimea military center shooting resembles sniper fire at Kiev’s Maidan http://rt.com/news/crimea-shooting-sniper-kiev-897/
This clarifies the incident some more. There is nobody in custody for the shooting. The stories about a 17 yo right sector are evidently false. Maybe such a person was questioned, but found to be uninvolved, maybe the story was made up or a rumour given legs?

Now it is being stated that Crimean police have detained a suspect.
Ukraine turmoil LIVE UPDATES http://rt.com/news/kiev-clashes-rioters-police-571/
11:46 GMT: A 17 year-old man from Western Ukraine has been arrested in connection with the Simferopol shooting that killed 2 people, Crimean Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Temirgaliyev said, citing preliminary reports.
According to Temirgaliyev, the police are investigating if the suspect had any accomplices.
Two people – a self-defense member and a Ukrainian soldier – were killed on Tuesday after a sniper opened fire from a partially-inhabited building near a military research center in Simferopol, the capital of Crimea.”

Ukraine turmoil LIVE UPDATES http://rt.com/news/kiev-clashes-rioters-police-571/
“14:12 GMT: Crimean prosecutors have denied that they have identified the culprits of the shooting that left two dead and two wounded on Tuesday.
“We do not have anyone in custody. Following the attack, we detained two 17-year-olds but further inquiries determined that they had nothing to do with it,” said Natalya Boyarintseva, the press secretary of the Crimean prosecutor’s office.
Boyarintseva confirmed that the police believe that more than one person was behind the attack. Authorities in Crimea have not revealed the names of the victims, but say two of them were Ukrainian soldiers, and two belonged to the pro-Russian militia. Earlier this week, Crimea’s Chief Prosecutor Natalya Poklonskaya said the shooters fired on both sides on purpose, to provoke confrontation.”
Looks like my earlier speculation that those “arrested” were actually just people questioned and cleared may have been right after all. It seems the left hand still doesn’t know what the right hand is doing in the new Crimean guv.
