So finally, the suspense is over and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has suspended the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) from 2018 Olympics, ruling that “clean” Russian athletes can only compete under a neutral flag in South Korea in February. Since I am going to be asked about this I might as well give you my reaction to this latest development.
First, I really don’t care about sports or the Olympics. Let me rephrase that: I like sports, but not the mega-business around watching sports. Second, I don’t really see why athletes should represent countries, that kind of cheapo feel-like-a-victor pseudo-patriotism is not my cup of tea. Third, I am not naive to the point of thinking the all-prevailing corruption in Russia would not affect any Russian athlete and that it is unthinkable that any of them might have used banned substances. However, it is also equally obvious to me that
- The IOC is a tool in the hands of the AngloZionist Empire which uses it to humiliate Russia
- That there is no evidence whatsoever that doping in Russia is any worse than in any other country or that the ROC or the authorities somehow organized and managed the doping of Russian athletes.
- By not singling out any convicted athlete but by slamming a collective punishment on all Russian athletes the IOC and its bosses are really trying to stigmatize Russia as a whole and everything Russian
Next, I think that the Kremlin’s reaction only makes things worse: Peskov has just announced that Putin personally has decided not to boycott the Olympics. That is an extremely unwise decision not only because it makes Russia look guilty and weak, but because it now places the burden of responsibility on deciding whether to be an active participant in the humiliation of Russia upon every individual Russian athlete. Very bad call! I am afraid that most of them will go for all sorts of more or less understandable reasons which they will eventually regret. After all, athletes are trained in their sports and not to access the political implications of their actions.
I am sure that many will disagree with me, but I believe that a total boycott by Russian of the next Olympics is the least bad solution. I would even recommend that the Kremlin organize a competition in Moscow not to try to match the immense commercial, social and political magnitude of the official Olympics in Seoul, but just to let the Russian athletes not only show their best, but to show the bastards at the IOC that they don’t “own” sports.
None of that will happen, I know.
In the meantime, here is a quick look at the main sponsors of the IOC:
and, just to complete the picture, here the list of the folks who currently compose the IOC:
Mr Thomas BACH, Germany
Mr Zaiqing YU, China
Mr Juan Antonio SAMARANCH, Spain
Prof. Ugur ERDENER. Turkey
Ms Anita L. DEFRANTZ, USA
Mrs Gunilla LINDBERG, Sweden
Mr Gian-Franco KASPER, Switzerland
Mrs Angela RUGGIERO,USA
Mr Sergey BUBKA, Ukraine
Mr Ser Miang NG, Singapore
Mr Willi KALTSCHMITT LUJÁN, Guatemala
Dr Robin E. MITCHELL, Fiji
Mrs Nicole HOEVERTSZ, Aruba
Mr Denis OSWALD, Switzerland
Except for one lonely Chinese (does anybody know how he voted?) – the rest are all representatives of the Empire or of its colonies. QED.
That’s all I have to say. I am disgusted beyond words, mostly by the deafening silence from a world where Russia truly has very few friends. That’s okay – we are used to that. But it still is disgusting.
The Saker
The Olympic committee acted on orders and those giving the orders did not look too far ahead. I predict that in February, that the very shrewd rocket boy will somehow let out a hint that he could change the whole world who voted for sanctions. That hint being that it is a short throw to the Olympic games for him. The DPNK is not attending. There will be mass departures from the games and the oligarchs will loose money. And kim will dance.
I guess its too late to move the games to Seoul……..
This Olympics maneuver is problematic as Saker points out, but honesty, is also small potatoes compared to what else is going on in the world right now. The Bitcoin melt up is an indicator, with people trying to flee from South Korea and the Japanese doing nuclear war civil defense drills. Corruption in the U.S. is blowing wide open. Somebody seems to be ratcheting the control parameters in an effort to speed the transition to chaos.
Now THERE is a thought! The Empire tried this sort of thing at the run-up to Sochi, didn’t they!
Hmm possibly – though the main driver is the Russian elections in March.
Good op-ed in RT by Neil Clarke “Cold War 2.0 politics ruins the Olympics”:
https://www.rt.com/op-edge/412124-russia-olympics-ban-cold-war/
Some very important points about US doping scandal and a state sponsored doping by West Germany for 20 years etc……blows this whole thing apart – maybe now there should be justice for all these past misdemeanors also.
The Peskov’s remark that Saker refers to was made on 4 Dec, before the final decision by IOC was made. Earlier Putin had stated that it would be a humiliation for Russia if the athletes were ordered to participate under an international flag. He will make an announcement today about his decision in this regard. It looks like one of the Russia’s options could be to formally exit from the IOA membership, slam the door, stop paying, do not buy TV translations, and yet allow the athletes to participate in the Games on their own, given that the state will provide them with full assistance. Russia can formally ignore IOC, for the following years, until the committee is pushed by the sponsors to quietly settle this with Russia to avoid losing money.
The state tv company has already said they will not show Olympics in Russia if no team Russia:
http://tass.com/sport/979232
Also VVP has already responded please see comments below.
This just in, the US attendance is in question:
https://www.sott.net/article/370545-Such-a-loss-US-considering-not-sending-its-athletes-to-2018-Winter-Games-in-S-Korea
My humble opinion: Russian athletes should go and perform the best they can. Russia should encourage them. The more medals won by the country of “Neutralia” the better.
The rest of us should not watch any olympic activity and should do our best to boycott every sponsor listed above. And every athlete from every other country should know that if they did not compete against the best, then they are not the best No matter what medals they win.
By now the shear pettiness of the Empire should no longer surprise me, and yet it somehow still does.
Your comment is from the heart. However, I suspect that the West will strip some medals from the neutral Russian athletes should they win because they will come up later with a tainted sample. It might be better to not expose the athletes to the totally dishonest West.
Remember that many Olympics events are determined by “judging”. Whether is figure skating or ski jumping or snowboard tricks, could any Russian athlete expect anything like a fair competition? Oh look, the US and UK judges just happened to give the Russians low scores.
Why would they go and compete? They have no guarantee whatsoever that the medals they win will not be taken from them sooner or later. Legkov (?) was tested in countries all over the world, always tested negative, never positive. They took his medal because of a scratch he didn’t know anything about. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, he could have done differently so that he wouldn’t be accused of doping.
And this is the main point, I believe, the uncertainty and helplessness that the athletes are put in. This is why all other athletes (and the journalists that make their living from these athletes) in the world keep quiet, there can not be sure that the same thing would not happen to them. It is like McCarthyism.
So why should the Russian athletes go there and compete, when it is quite possible that their medals can be taken away from them again?
In this case I hope that as many of the Russian athletes as possible feel that standing up for Russia as it is bullied, is more important than competing in “neutral” dresses, which are not neutral at all, but a kind of “fool” dress just to humiliate them. IOC could as well decide that they have to wear donkeys ears to be allowed to compete.
The idea the masters of IOC have is of course that Russian athletes and the sport fans in Russia should feel betrayed by their government, and be angry and go against Putin’s government in the elections, that they would feel embarrassed that “he” couldn’t prevent this situation.
I don’t think Russian people will fall into that trap, I think the whole thing will backfire and be the start of the total collapse of the Olympic Industry, maybe all sport’s industry. I think there is a silent majority all over the world that is fed up. People will start burning the Olympic flag in protest.
And honestly, I don’t think it matters what President Putin does in this regard, it will be twisted anyway, so better to just follow the schedule and let sport fans and digging journalists do the changes.
“In this case I hope that as many of the Russian athletes as possible feel that standing up for Russia as it is bullied, ”
I think I agree with this. Even though it is not perhaps fair to puot that pressure on athletes. And maybe that is why Putin has taken the position he has taken. So as to leave world-class Russian athletes the space to think this through on their own. It will be up to individual conscience or perhaps some kind of group expression. Think of the whole ‘take a knee” think in the USA. Maybe Putin’s taking a neural stance is best for his own Russian athletes.
Just speculating.
“Petty” is the operative word here. Truly astounding. And while supposedly being athletes’ biggest cheerleaders this pathetic committee is only too happy to throw them under the bus. I hope there is a huge response that throws the validity of this whole committee and the International Olympics themselves into question and disrepute. These horrible people couldn’t stand it that Putin and Russia made a success of the Socchi Olympics. They are acting like an envious clique of teenage girls.
Katherine
Even though I hope that all athletes, fans and media will decide to boycott the Winter Games, I definitively respect the individual athletes’ decisions.
They have trained for years for this, and for some, competing may be more important than making a stand in geopolitics. And there may also be a question of making a living, through sponsorship contracts. A lot of us average persons would probably chose like that if we were in a similar situation, as most of us are only humans.
So I agree that the individual athletes should not be criticized for whatever decision they make. There are dark forces out there that would be happy to see infighting among Russian athletes. Or between those who thinks that Putin should boycott the games and those who think he should not.
Let them not have that triumph.
This is too big to not have an impact in the long (or short) run when it comes to both Russia and the Sport Industrial Complex. I pray that so much dirt about IOC and the other culprits will be revealed so that the whole Olympic thing will crumble and die.
> The more medals won by the country of “Neutralia” the better.
there would be no “more”
there would be enough medals to encourage sportsmen to flee away from Russia, to atomize and asismilate into West
in case some “wrong” sportsmen from Russia would get medals (or just too many of thems) – the excess would be stripped just like Sochi Olympics medals are being stripped from Russian sportsmen now.
also Aemrican sportsmen secured in summer Olympics their right to unlimited attempts count until they score the result they like.
The anglo/zionists in my book have become incredibly Boring and super childish in their pathetic behaviour. This is yet another display of childishness…. pathetic …. Doping is so common everywhere where mega bucks are involved…. even down to the low amateur levels…. which I have personally wittnessed.
I turfed out the BS TV and dont read the BS newspapers (or insult my rubbish by even wrapping scraps in it) However I do see headlines while shopping and hear converstions. I actively get into arguments and debates around this whole spectrum of political BS ….
The MSM and all it portrays is childish dribble and this is just another political decision then article written without analysis – except in alternative media. Good on ya Saker !The Olympics have been as political as far back as my living memory. Just lost interest in it but I feel so sorry for the sport s people young as who are persuaded that this is the upper limits of their chosen sport activity in their discipline
Its a disgusting shame and a sham that the political elect and appointed – where ever- play who ever rises in a society to become a “public figure” this game of them verses us …… narrative.
That again – a bunch of suits (With nooses around their necks – ties) – play this pathetic game of boycotts…. This is just another show of how rotten global elites are and how pathetic they are …. Nothing but Prostitutes for the parasites. Is there no intelligent life amongst the elites ? Apparently not
“The anglo/zionists in my book have become incredibly Boring and super childish in their pathetic behaviour. This is yet another display of childishness…. pathetic ”
what you say reminds me of Hadrian’s Memoirs by Marguerite Yourcenar:
https://www.amazon.com/Memoirs-Hadrian-Classics-Marguerite-Yourcenar/dp/0374529264/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1512691369&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=memoirs+of+hadrain
Hadrian described Jews there as quit irrational, destructive and violent
And when they win a gold medal, get to the podium, let them put the medal around their necks and … walk away.
And unfurl a Russian flag, and stand there singing the Russian anthem. That’ll show the psychotic bullies.
@mulga Mumblebrain….and my God…isn’t that the most powerfully, moving national anthem ever written?
Performing at the Olympics and wearing the Olympic symbol rather than the Russian flag is like wearing the Jewish Badge in Poland in 1939.
Don’t go!
Bingo ….. absolutely agree
Well Saker,
Perhaps another avenue to take is that Russian or independent investigators try to expose U.S. or other EU Athletes during the Olympics?
Maybe that’s how Putin would rather tit-for-tat play that?
Of course that’s presuming those US/EU athletes are actually guilty… But I wouldn’t be surprised if some embarrassing leaks do occur close to the event or during the event itself?
Perhaps Putin might prefer to wait until after the crooks are awarded the medals before springing the story for maximum damage?
Didn’t Russian hackers – Fancy Bears or something – expose a whole bunch – even naming names of taking performance enhancing drugs. But all these athletes had “medical excuses” – mostly ADHD – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder – or were said to have asthma.
Correct.
Western athletes cheat, but they have a note from their doctor. That’s what the Olympics call ‘clean’.
The hack revealed that indeed some of the top American athletes did get approved drugs especially for ADHD. As one person noted, there are a number of available drugs for ADHD and in all cases the performance enhancing medicine was prescribed. Go figure.
Americans do their best to cover their crimes as well as lying about their opponents.
My former roommate used to compete with Lance Armstrong (and to stay at his house outside of Barcelona when training/cycling in Spain because of good climate and lots of hills) . He told me and many other friends at least 5 years before he was exposed that Armstrong was a doper and not just that – like with Weinstein – everyone in the business knew about it but did nothing.
My friend also told me that the only reason he eventually got exposed by his team I think was because he went too far with his arrogance and being an asshole in general. Had he not pushed them too far – the people who spoke up would have not done it at all.
I always preferred the FIFA world cup anyway and I am sure that Russia will make wonderful hosts. Considering my bloved Azzurri failed to qualify, my support now falls on the Russian football team. I hope they can go far and make their country proud.
Fifa world cup will be their next target…the UK is ready to accomodate the competition….there will be no fifa in Russia next summer….they will launch this missile just before the vote in march.I bet 100 eur on that issue..I hope I’m wrong but these bastards are so stupid it is so easy to imagine their next move.Pretext will be or Syria or the Donbass or whatever thing they will dream.
No,
the zionists are more cruel,
they will issue a terrorist threat under a false flag.
If Russia insists on keeping the WC, the FIFA will require guaranties, impossible to fulfill.
What is worse, the neocons etc. will make it happen, somerhing very bad will happen and Russia will be blamed anyway…
Absolutely. I am losing count already of the filthy hate propaganda tirades against the FIFA World Cup being held in Russia, from the usual liars in the BBC, the Guardian and our local fakestream sewers. The Guardian psychotics, in particular, are quite deranged in their hatred. The West, as it crumbles, is drowning in hatred, and Putin is Enemy Number One. Given the nature of the swine attacking him, that’s quite an honour. But the World Cup WILL be wrecked, one way or another, particularly as a success would be seen to advantage Putin in the Presidential race.
yes. FIFA is next on the list. It is so obvious. I am from the west, but what the west is doing to Russia is a bloody shame.
Very close to my thoughts…..for a very long time. But I would like to see this go a bit further:
We – the real people of the planet – should start a movement to smother the IOC and begin an entirely new “WORLD GAMES”. I know. The whole world internet is an appendage of the world deep-state system; but lets get it started, with young Roman as it’s icon. The moccasin telegraph will take it from there!
By the way, Roman’s video is blacked out on my computer this evening.
This decision is a meddling into the Russia’s presidential election of 2018.
We know that the IOC actions are a part of the attack on president Putin. It’s great to see proves of this from McFaul and McCain.
https://twitter.com/ScottsHumor/status/938234457143889920
It’s also a marketing scheme. Putin is right ignoring this nonsense and letting athletes to decide for themselves. This way no one can blame the state. But it’s guarantee that their medals will be taken away, afterwords, so why would they participate in this con?
As you say Scott – this is all an attack on Pres Putin and the Russian elections in 2018.
However, I feel it will get VVP more votes – not less. So McFoul and McInsane won’t get their wish.
In regard to FIFA – tough it will take place in Russia – they failed there and that is why they went for the Olympics…..they are childish, pathetic and have ruined this event. VVP has left it up to individual athletes to decide if they wish to go. Apparently on the 12th December the Russian athletes are to meet to discuss – lets see. They are making it as difficult as possible for clean athletes to attend anyway.
VVP has just stated most of the accusations are unfounded and based on the testimony of a man of “questionable” mental state, ethical and moral values and also that Russia was not accused of state sponsored doping – very important point (which the idiots in the “West” are not mentioning).
https://www.rt.com/sport/412140-putin-ioc-ban-russia/
All those non-Russian cheating athletes can now go to the Olympics and cheat as no one is watching them.
As Peter says above this Russophobia and asking athletes to wear the Olympic symbol – is like wearing the Jewish badge in 1939.
Just watch VVP announce his candidacy at a factory of GAZ that has been producing goods for 85 years. They all asked him to run and he said yes. They were all cheering and chanting Russia. Before that he was at a youth forum and they were all cheering him and wanting him to run too.
https://www.rt.com/news/412130-putin-run-reelection-2018/
> Russia was not accused of state sponsored doping
This is very questionable claim.
It was said that state anti-doping agency was scheming to provide and conceal doping.
It was said that top officials in state Olympic committee are so involved in the said scheming that only can be disqualified forever.
And it is not “state sponsored” ?
The story of the ‘hole in the wall’ through which trained KGB mouses (OK-mice) moved clean urine samples to replace those bubbling with nassty drugs, was so stupid that only the Western fakestream media presstitutes could have swallowed it. As they dutifully did, their jobs depending on it.
The winning athletes might kneel as their anthem is played!
No anthem. No flags. Not even a single small reference to Russia visible, even on a key-ring, bag or jewelry. Otherwise immediate disqualification and expulsion. Even for supporting staff. As per last Olympics.
Thing is, the US can’t enthusiastically encourage this full blown, old fashioned racism to its people without also fanning other racial tensions at home. Unintended consequences. It is exceptionally stupid.
Once a Russian has won, and their competition over, they must just pull out a Russian flag and sing the anthem-it’s a good one. Stick it right up the Western thugs.
Just a thought, but you might see some American athletes of African ancestors do exactly that. Kneel on the medal stand when the American war-anthem is played.
Betcha a few have been watching the NFL players this fall and thinking, ‘just wait till its my turn.’
Putin has proven to be a master strategist, always a step or two ahead of the West. This action is a sign of weakness and decline in the west. It is petty and angry. Like with investing, if you are right, you need to sit tight.
People who are out of control, always are fighting for control. The west is losing control, and all they have are these actions. Why not have all Russian athletes compete and win? What will they say when they are on the podium waving their medal, and everyone will know they are Russians?
Hannibal was master strategist, but it did not secured him victory: being stripped form reosurces he only could slow down his defeat and murder. Slow down, but not prevent.
True, but the US of today is not the Roman Republic by any stretch of the imagination.
The most disturbing fact is that if most athletes decides to attend Olympics under the neutral flag, it is a sign that a color revolution in Russia is still possible. Russia lacks the pride to stand on solid legs.
Most athletes have about 10 years at their best. If the US can block Russia for 2 Olympic cycles, it will essentially kill off the hope of up-coming Russian talent. If they can’t enter international competitions, they can’t make any money, so they’ll leave.
This is why Putin has told them to go, even as a neutral. Competition keeps sports alive at home. Otherwise Russia will lose talent to frustration and lack of reward, and then Russia has to face being poorly represented for a generation.
I tend to agree… I initially thought that RF should just not go, but that may be exactly what the west wanted. There are no good choices here, but maybe VVP is betting on having Russian athletes go and outshine others – that would really show the sanctimonious west (anyone remember Lance Armstrong’s multi-year doping scheme? did Americans get banned from all bicycling events?) – as in “you cannot break our spirit with your stupid schemes!” In the excitement of competition, people will forget this idiocy and the athletes’ performances will be all that matters… But the thing I do not understand – is there no way to appeal this decision? Plus what happens to the demand that RF pay $15 mil euros for all the stupid investigations? I hope they do not pay… and then there’s the suspension of the RF olymp. cmte – what to do about that? And I agree that the next target is the FIFA event (remember the insane hype and fake news before the Sochi games?). We (and RF) should prepare for more insanity from the glorious west…
So far, the most complete account that I have found over Grigor Rodchenkov, the “joker” that the IOC & WADA use to discredit Russia is here:
https://www.rt.com/op-edge/374696-rodchenkov-criminal-doping-whistleblower/
But it is still not very detailed;the Insider said that he was fired from his position in Russia, before to move in the West, but we don’t know the date of his dismissal.
If anybody has a more detailed article, I would appreciate.
In all the cases, with the huge level of corruption involved with modern sport, now with the participation of transgenders among women and the fact that they will grab almost every medails and kill the idea of women’s sport (lack of identification & viewers), soon genetic engineering to produce marathon winners who all die at 35 year’s old from thesame unexpected disease, it’s time to jump off the ship and promote sport for the masses, not to win medails but to keep people fit.
” it’s time to jump off the ship and promote sport for the masses, not to win medails but to keep people fit.”
Actually, “gym” classes (physical education) as they were taught in American schools in the fifties, under Eisenhower’s policies, produced a far more fit population than the current emphasis in American schools on competitive sports. There have been numerous studies that demonstrate this. Everyone had to take “gym” class and do something—even teenage girls who didn’t want to put on a pair of socks. For a truly healthy upbringing we should go back to that model. maybe ditch competetive high school sports completely. the professional scouts are already trawling junior high schools for “talent.” Meanwhile no one make the rest of the student body get off their butts and run around.
Just Google “Should gym classes be mandatory” and you can find plenty of info.
Katherine
“For a truly healthy upbringing we should go back to that model. maybe ditch competetive high school sports completely. the professional scouts are already trawling junior high schools for “talent.” Meanwhile no one make the rest of the student body get off their butts and run around.”
good point.
I’ve noticed the same thing with art – when I went to Argentina for the first time – most friends I have there (and their friends too) play an instrument in a band, paint, play sports and meet with their old friends once a week at least to cook dinners. All this apart from being married and having great wives and kids.
They love, enjoy, recognize and value art (and can spot real art when they see it).
Most westerners I know think of art as purely a spectator spot (you must pay 20$ to enter say SF MOMA to see paintings costing millions (because they are used for money laundering) – talk about it a little perhaps without really feeling anything because you dont really have a clue or confidence or anything to say. It’s a brain- dead way to interact with art – sheeple are encouraged to not have confidence to even try to create anything – let alone love it as Argentinean do
Art foundations do the same – I know a heiress who runs a 3bn$ foundation – she has no clue about art and rewards ass-kissing mostly while destroying art at the same time.
The same thing you say with sports. Real art and real sports are to be done, shared, practiced, loved not just do it for money and status like that psychopathic American swimmer caught lying in Rio
I’ve always preferred good amateur sport to what we have today.
Local cricket, football clubs where nobody makes a penny out of it and just enjoys the game.
I 100% agree with Saker.
I remember the 1980 and 1984 Summer Olympics. The US boycotted the Moscow Olympics in 1980. The Soviet Union reciprocated by boycotting the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. Putin should have taken a page from Brezhnev’s cold war playbook, and boycotted the Korean Winter Olympics.
Then there is Sochi: the site of the Winter Olympics in 2014. It would be the perfect location for a “repechage Olympics” to be held one month after the Korean Olympics where all Russian athletes, plus athletes from other countries by invitation only, could compete in what is probably the best venue ever for winter sports.
That wouldnt work as west would probably ban their athletes from participating and would put pressure economically on other countries. But,sure as hell would be a great way of exposing the world to its self.
What’s telling is that the U.S. boycott was a hypocritical stunt. They did it because Russia invaded Afghanistan, but later admitted (Zbigniew Brzezinski did in an interview in France in 1998), that they (the Carter Administration) had purposely baited and worked to increase the chances of Russia invading by promoting and backing terrorist attacks on Russians. And when the Russians did invade they were very pleased with themselves, thinking that now they could give Russians “their Vietnam”. And the U.S. was sending their pal Osama bin Laden and the Taliban Stinger missiles to shoot down Russian helicopters and planes.
I actually agree with V. Putin’s move and I think it is a master stroke for several reasons. The Olympics has to do with a huge amount of egos, and so bruising them by boycotting is not going to help – it looks like revenge for being “found out.” It will also inspire a lot more sympathy and support from everyone watching this – esp. many of the athletes themselves, as many of them have regular professional contact with their Russian counterparts for mutual benefit. In fact, Canadian Ice Hockey people are highly upset by this move against Russia, because Russia offers the best competition for Canada and the two countries have excellent relations going back many years. See also below where the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) is threatening to pull out of the Olympics. This Moscow based organisation contains top players from many countries. These people play together and so develop top form by the competition that is provided. Canada’s Olympic roster contains 15 players from the KHL.
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/winter/hockey/khl-olympic-participation-russian-doping-scandal-1.4387983
See also below where the International Ice Hockey Federation has issued a statement of protest against the ban. Part of the statement reads “Russia’s role in the growth and development of ice hockey cannot be understated. This country forms a pillar on which our sport’s legacy rests upon.”
http://olympics.nbcsports.com/2017/11/28/russia-hockey-olympics-pyeongchang-iihf/
If Russian athletes decided to participate and win medals then does anyone seriously think that no-one watching would know that it is a Russian standing there on the dais – the only player without an anthem and without a flag. In fact, this draws even more attention to the athlete – and to Russia, of course. It would look farcical – and the laugh would totally be on the IOC. I believe that the IOC and the western sports fascists will end up with egg on their face. Time will tell.
further, just think about the ”journalists”…
what are they gonna say when a medal
is awarded to…”unknown”?
the ‘script’ they will have to follow will be
hilarious and obvious to everyone.
i look forward to just one breaking the
”code” and saying something like..
”well we all know who /////ski/doneov
represents, and loses his job because
he said something complementary.
on further reflection, this could backfire
spectacularly as the commentators,
pundits and ”experts” tie themselves
in verbal knots, every hour of every day.
it will quickly break down, whatever script
they are given.
i foresee an almighty farce, obvious to everyone,
whether they’ve drunk the ”koolaid” propaganda or not.
FWIW, I remember as an 11 year old kid feeling really gypped in 1980 when the Moscow Summer Games were boycotted by Carter and the US because the best part of TV coverage has always been the pictures sent back from far away places. An entire generation of children was denied even this brief humane glimpse of the USSR. I imagine that was the point of the boycott. Censorship by omission is a key aspect of the Herman/Chomsky propaganda model.
Which is why I am so excited about World Cup 2018 because I literally still have never seen those kinds of live pictures of Russia! Now that I live in Canada where there is full coverage I will finally get to see Russia from this neutral or at least pan-national cultural perspective and not the standard newsreel/soundbite version.
It appears to me that VVP is doing the right thing by not calling for a boycott. Are the athletes perhaps setting themselves up to be humiliated and abused by the talking heads and the colour commentators? Perhaps, but they aren’t children. Russian children deserve the chance to see pictures of Korea just as they deserved to see L.A. in 1984. Maybe there would be fewer Russian adult fans of the West if they’d gotten to see how dull L.A. is, even with all it’s glitz and glam and movie magic, as children?
In the end nobody remembers the Games and they certainly don’t recall the blahblahblah and the play-by-play of the talking heads and the colour commentators. They remember the ideal. The IOC is clearly not living up to the ideal.
PS-The idea someone had above of a Winter Neutral-ympics for all traditional winter sports nations seems like a winner to me.
OMG,
are you serious, i.e. newly born or incurable naive?
Don’t you remember the hype about Sochi being not ready, ugly, corrupt, obsolete etc.?
The performance of Russian athletes will be undeplayed anyway, they will be stripped of medails. For impressions of Korea just choose a documentary channel or some insider video on YouTube!
Or do you build your opinion on France by the hours of live coverage with nice views on chateues from TdF? Just go and see Marseilles downtown or any undeground station in Paris – and wake up…
You do make a point, the master — times have totally changed since 1980.
Alex Kramer, I empathize with your story. I was much younger than 11 in 1980, growing up in a quiet suburb of a small Canadian city, and the daughter of an avid news-geek father. So, despite my age, much time was spent viewing, reading, and discussing, world affairs through the media coverage. I remember the general excitement when images from the USSR started being broadcast. The public loved it – and then, this small, paranoid voice from the halls of power in the U.S. and it was stopped. In my suburb, it seemed that this was a reaction to the blossoming appreciation for the USSR. At my elementary school, classes were interrupted to explain to a bunch of confused, innocent little kids why this had happened. The Olympics were a big deal, and a teaching tool for us, which had suddenly been disrupted. In the media, there was outrage, protest, in America and in Canada. Back then, Americans protested, like really protested, when the government did something they opposed. In Canada, the public’s outrage was handled completely differently. Protests are totally discouraged here. Public outrage is vented in the political system, more or less. I used to laugh because the most eccentric person, with a viewpoint shared by almost nobody, could get an audience in City Hall and express his or her concerns. (Unless that person was Indigenous Canadian, who had almost no voice, anywhere, at all. Open discrimination.)
Anyway – in Canada, as I recall, the system worked like this. Outrage! The public demands action! Americans would start organizing protests. Canadians could travel across the border and participate in them. In Canada, the political system would kick in, and first off, the federal government would announce how tightly bonded the US and Canada are – friends! Neighbours! Allies! And then the diplomats would get to work. And we the Canadian people would wait to hear the results reported in the media. There was extensive diplomacy back then. It seems ridiculously naive in 2017, but the Canadian military really seemed unnecessary, like an extravagance, something that existed solely to please the Americans back then. How times have changed.
excited Canadian…how familiar
R
And a cynical retort. Also, familiar. :-) What bothers you, R?
First time Soviet Union took part in Olympic Games was in 1952 (Helsinki), 7 years after it had beaten Nazi Germany. I ques something similar Russia have to do for game changer.
Sports itself has not much to do with nationalism nowadays compared to hunger for money. In fact most of British football fans are more oriented to their clubs not England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. This was fact even in 1960’s and 1970’s.
Not a fan of the olympics, never have been a sports fan, period. The athletes spent much of their lives perfecting their performance. To deprive them of their chance to compete by the Russian government ordering an olympic boycott would be doubly unfair to them. I remember when the raygun regime went full on gay and boycotted the Moscow olympics, it destroyed the life’s work of many american athletes. A boycotting by Russia now would have the same effect on many of the Russian athletes. It would also look bad for Russia as a nation. They would look like they were pouting and the zio-gays would be ecstatic in their bragging about “their victory”. I think the choice the Russian government made is probably the best of what is a situation where there is really no good choice.
In the long term, most of these international institutions, for all facets of international relations and engagement, will need to be either replaced or seriously rebuilt as the multipolar changes kick in. Allowing the current toxic sludge dominating these institutions to further discredit themselves will aide that process of renewal down the line. This has already started with western “news” media with their self debasement. As the zionazis get more desperate, will resort to more self discrediting hysterics, extremism and lunacy, in their attempts to maintain control. Like all psychopaths do.
VT,
Since VVP is going it’s a signal that his team can go as well.
If fact it could be seen as a sign of support for VVP.
T1
“If fact it could be seen as a sign of support for VVP.”
And also Putin giving moral support to those Russian athletes who choose to compete.
Just a correction: it was not Reagan but Carter who was President in 1980 when the US boycotted the Olympics. Remember that it was Carter’s guy Zbigniew Brzezinski who set up the Afghanistan situation originally, and who wrote a book (Between Two Ages) in which he stated that the attempted destruction of Russia by Communism was a “blessing for the world.” It was AFTER Carter that Reagan became President in 1981 and worked toward defusing tensions. Reagan would have never done what Carter did.
o
“it was not Reagan but Carter who was President in 1980 when the US boycotted the Olympics.”
True.
“Reagan became President in 1981 and worked toward defusing tensions. Reagan would have never done what Carter did.”
And what fantasy video game taught you that nonsense. :-D The raygun regime was well known for its hostility to Russia and its goal to destroy the country. Had the raygunnys been given the chance, they would have boycotted Moscow as well.
In fact, the obama regime played the same sort of game the carter regime did (phony liberal/progressive), while trump is repeating, by his actions, not empty words, the raygun freakshow (destroy Russia and further disempower the “99%”).
The ban for all Russian athletes is for institutionalised, endemic doping right. Then no athletes should be drug free because its institutionalised and endemic. Unless of course its all a pack of lies, which it is.
olympics come after 4 years so for some athletes a boycott can be a bigger heartbreak. Unfortunate situation for Russia.
Oh dear, I remember a name; Lance Armstrong, Lance Armstrong. Lance Armstrong and ‘The Tour de France’ for several years, Lance and his drugs kept on winning, and all those who knew kept their mouths shut.
From the ‘Cold War’ of 1946, the Olympics was never about sport but rather proving the superiority of the cold war participants. The USSR used special schools to train their athletes, but of course the Americans would never subscribe to such tactics.
The 1980 and 84 boycotts deprived so many athletes of the opportunity to show their abilities, but the politics would not allow it. That was when the spirit of the Olympics died as per Don McLean’s American Pie. And of course the good ole ‘corruption’ of just who paid the highest bribes got the games. The Australian IOC rep, Tom Coates was frequently involved with ‘rumours of corruption.
The costs to the ‘host nations’ as well as the profits to those backing companies has been enormous, and the Americans have always contrived to be the ‘winners’. It is not ‘sport’, it is simply big business, big American business. When my youngest son played Lacrosse in Korea representing Australia’s under 21’s, it was an ‘American College team’ that won, but of course their players did not come within the ‘under 21’ designation.
I would like to see the Russians organise their own world sports so their athletes could demonstrate their own abilities. I am certain many other countries would participate, and many friendships would be forged.
I’ve read a lot of comments regarding the ban of Russian athletes from the 2018 winter Olympic games and obviously is a hot topic but what surprised me was the reaction from Russia…weak, pathetic, uncoordinated…So, you know you are on the chopping block for long, long time…enough to prepare for all possible scenarios and outcomes and enough time to prepares the best comments regarding these outcomes and what we got? Pathetic, weak, confused, chaotic reactions and comments….Looks like Russia was, again, surprised napping.
I completely share your opinion. This decision was expected for months and reaction or lack of it is quite frustrating. Just another slap in the face and Kremlin is already turning the other side, for the next slap. Well overdue for some harsh responses, in my opinion.
To add insult to injury ROC was asked to pay $15 millions for the “investigations”….Did ROC (Russian Olympic Comity) ask for these investigations? Were these investigations initiated at the request of ROC? If not why ROC would pay for? And if, for some obscure reasons, they decide to pay why they don’t ask for undisputable evidence as a prerequisite of the payment? What do you think, Putin will approve the payment? I am afraid he will…Russia’s reactions in the last 4 years are so predictable…I understand that there are more serious and underling reasons behind Russia’s decision’s but the impact on public perception is terrible…Or, maybe, for Russia, this doesn’t matter either…
Yes.
Diplomatic premises and homes attacked.
Flags ripped down.
Endless insults and vitriolic smears.
When is Russia going to start repaying these people in their own coin.
“First, I really don’t care about sports or the Olympics. Let me rephrase that: I like sports, but not the mega-business around watching sports.”
Sports are often fixed or partially fixed at the very top levels – and I am mostly including many non-Olympics matches, such as professional tennis. Clues point to top players throwing their matches. Also, the referees can be very biased and change the game.
With the Olympics so many U.S. athletes get to use performance enhancing drugs because they have a medical excuse – and a huge amount of them have ADHD – attention deficit hyperactive disorder (or something like that) or asthma.
But why a gymnast not in regular school would need to take an attention deficit disorder drug is beyond me because tumbling around on the floor mat and swinging on the bars for a few minutes is practically opposite of having to sit still at your desk all day, listen to the teacher and do paperwork.
My old people would say ” better alone than in a bad company”!
Yes, it is disgusting, but it was expected, in March there are elections in Russia and President Putin is the favorite.
I bet the Russians understand what the end -game is! On the other hand, can you think about the level of jealousy, hate, envy and slight panic that the deep state is experiencing?
Disagree, it’s not disgusting at all when it comes to the bigger picture: The move only strengthen Russian nationalists and weakens the Atlanticists. And it is a useful reminder to the rest of Russians what the West really things of common Russian.
It is disgusting to ruin individual athletes lives (those that were not cheating). You know the this drug scandal is selective and politicized, if it were even handed then both China and Britain would also be banned.
It’s pretty obvious even to lay people that China systematically abuses chemicals to enhance their players performance and performs procedural cheats such as upgrading a female gymnasts age for commercial pr and to game the system (they’ve been caught red handed). This isn’t too surprising given the adulteration of food and hormone boosted produce (Google exploding watermelons for an example) that has become endemic to Chinese society due to blind quest for profits and national goals.
The, UK, however being a massive sports cheat might come as a surprise to the conditioned sheeple, because they’re part of the West and the extra-special poodle of the banksters and the US (ie they’re double-plus-goodie-2-shoes mini-me according to the chattering classes of the US Liberal echelon). You don’t need to a math genius to figure out that such a tiny country, UK, couldn’t legimately win the disproportionate number of medals they won during the London Olympics with some form of performance enhancement.
With respect to Russia, come on, who are we kidding, they’ve been systematically performance enhancing some of their athletes since Soviet times. It’s still wrong to impose collective punishment, but Russia is one of tech leaders in this science.
The Hegemon betrays the trust placed in it by the rest of the world in every area of life. Internet. Banking. Human Rights. Sports. The Hegemon was trusted to be fair, to be an ‘honest broker’. Instead it has chosen to use its position to crush all opposition to its rule. The Hegemon can be compared to Athens. Honored and trusted, it came to be reviled and to deserve it.
Yes your correct in saying that the anglozionist empire is a primitive pathetic psychopathic beast. Let us go back to 1980. The USSR was to hold the olympics and guess what happened? The empire boycotted the event because get this the USSR had invaded Afghanistan. That must be a joke because the USA has been in the heroine business and stealing those precious metals from Afghanistan for over 16 years with no end in sight. Oh I forgot with more troops on the way hurray.
Sports today have become a business period just like those gladiators of yesteryear. It is always about the money period. The empire has no balls they are busy about issues concerning transgender and other confused lifestyles thrust upon their zombie societies. Russia pack up your bags and leave those pitiful souls behind and be proud of being Russian. If anyone were to be embarrassed it is the empire that should hide its miserable head in the sand and maybe the baba yaha will be gone.
Typical provocation with lose-lose options, there’s no real choice.
I think Putin viewed it as a rational adult and chose participation over boycott. The latter would strengthen the case against Russia as an aggressor, as per demonized in the western media. May also be interpreted as an antagonistic hot-headed protest move by western audiences. A lot of negativity for very little in return.
By letting IOC humiliate Russia through neutral participations, Putin gains the moral highground (for we know this is all mostly political sham, even if there were a couple of valid cases), increase his reputation for unswerving ability to stay rational in a difficult situation and took a course of action in the best interest for the majority of Russian athletes that trained hard for the Olympics. It mollifies the western audiences who would gloat at this small inconsequential victory, while at the same time, it’s something that Russian athletes and population will never forget. Humiliation gives rise to internal patriotism. This is a win for Putin’s Russia.
Putin’s reaction is classic Sun Tzu. Brilliant as always.
Hear, hear! Well done for the comment!жељко
I totally agree. It’s time to blow up the IOC: not only Russia but also China, DPRK, Iran, Syria (hell any country with a grain of self-respect) should boycott the 2018 olymics to protest the political games the IOC is playing.
To everyone calling for a boycott of the “IOC (political) Games”, I’d suggest you remember 1968 Mexico City games and three proud people –

Having read this post and comments, I went straight over to The Kremlin Stooge (a fellow Canadian, and Haligonian to boot) to see what Mark and his people might have to say about this Olympic ban. Mark hasn’t posted an essay on the subject (yet), but he offered the below copied remarks in the comment thread that’s gathering under his recent piece on Christmas in the Ukraine. I copy it here because I think it contributes to a better understanding of the humiliation aspect, and how best to handle it (hint: I think ‘Uncle Volodya’ may have read Mark’s mind on this one):

I think Putin feels that the Olympics shouldn’t be political…he loves sports and he loves the Olympics – the last winter Olympics were at Sochi and he was so very proud….and that’s when the US struck him with Ukraine – Maidan to be exact – sickening.
I’m a Putin lover. And I admire him for being above the scum and cherishing the cosmopolitan spirit of the Olympics.
Ann, Putin is in the invidious position of having a heavily armed, psychotic, serial-killer yelling and screaming at him, while poking him in the ribs in order to provoke an excuse to attack. I don’t envy him, and, if a less calm and sane person had been in charge in Russia, we’d all be radio-active dust by now.
You’re contradicting yourself. First you say that participation in the Olympics should be individual, not national, and then you say that Russia should ban its athletes to participate individually. One should also remember that the career of an athlete is very short one and in some sports an athlete has once in a lifetime chance to participate in the Olymplics, regarding it as a top point of his career. Reacting to Western aggression on Russia by punishing Russian athletes would be highly unwise for Kremlin. Moreover, people will know that even under the Olympic flag many athletes will compete for Russia and every victory of a Russian athlete will be another manifestation of falseness of all claims of doping against Russia. I usually don’t watch Olympics, but this time I would support our guys more than ever. I hope Russian supporters won’t let anyone forget what country people under the five-ring flag represent.
> Reacting …. by punishing Russian athletes would be highly unwise for Kremlin
It is cute how it is Russia ( disguised as Kremlin ) is getting accused of attacking Russian athletes.
Not those who prohibit Russian athletes to be so, but Russia itself.
Well, the athletes are definitely free to choose their citizenship and their flag.
It is just inconsistent to advertise other banners but expect (less so demand) sponsorship from Russia.
———-
That said, ROC clerks seem to do nothing in past 3 years to protect Russian athletes in courts or elsewhere, so they really have to be punished.
Now that atheltes see Mutko being persecuted by IOC but not by ROC – they should have very mixed feelings.
Saker,
I agree with you 100%.
Regards,
Carmel by the Sea
You have plenty of friends.
Few in high places.
But plenty of friends.
Russia WILL force a payback time from the US when the time is right. It will be very very awful
I share Your disgust, but I think, that it was a good move from Putin not to boycott the Olympics. Those Olympics should be boycotted by Russian sportsmen, but it should be their initiative. Otherwise imperial media would be full of stories about “how evil Putin prevented Russian sportsmen to participate”…
On the spot! i thought the same.
In the final list, is that the Juan Antonio Samaranch that died in 2010?
It is the son , the Junior
http://www.lavanguardia.com/deportes/olimpiadas/20160804/403693530548/juan-antonio-samaranch-vicepresidente-comite-olimpico-internacional.html
No, not the war criminal , but https://www.olympic.org/mr-juan-antonio-samaranch , his son.
I think your reaction (although understandable) is too emotional at this point and i sense that you do care. I’m looking forward to a more conclusive post from you when things have settled.
In the meantime, Russia should sue the living cr-p out of everyone bought-and-paid-for in this scandal, starting with McLaren, why havn’t they done that?
The Olympics have metastasized from an amateur contest to promote peace amongst rivals and enemies into yet one more hyper-capitalist money grabbing operation which the United States government has now used twice for blatant political ends against Russia. Russia is better off not contaminating itself with the crass “get rich super quick” commercialism of these games and the exploitation of naive athletes to promote a national “brand” across the globe. It’s a futile effort to fight the Americans’ unrelenting effort to control, by hook or crook (and in this case the swindling is being done by them via the ban they have imposed on Russia) every last wavelength in their push for “full spectrum dominance.” The world would be much better off with the Olympic games being entirely dismantled. They have served mainly to aggrandize the “road to riches” via professional sport in the Western world and to pauperize the cities and countries than have hosted these events under the most onerous fiscal conditions imaginable. Countries like Greece and Brazil will remain in hock for decades because of the money the IOC demanded they squander for the three-week event. Russia should permanently take itself entirely out of Olympic competition and should place a few spectacularly effective ads in facebook and twitter explaining how most countries would be much better off if they followed suit. (If Putin can decide the winner of the American presidential race with a few well-crafted words, he can easily do this.) There are still plenty of other international sporting events–unless the United States has plans to poison all of them as well in its hysterical snit against Russia.
I sincerely hope Putin changes his mind and boycotts the Russian participation at the Olympics. This decision by the IOC is entirely political, designed to humiliate Russia. Its also an incredibly disgusting decision, devoid of human dignity. Incredible how low the IOC has fallen.
The Olympic Games were invented for INDIVIDUAL competition. The INDIVIDUAL honours, a humble laurel, were bestowed on the athlete, who was in turned honoured by his state of origin upon his return. Who remembers Rhodes because Diagoras was a champion? Medals tables and national anthems are in themselves a politicization, shifting the focus on teams (nations) and away from the ATHLETE. Doping is unfair play and should be punished by exclusion of the individual athlete – there cannot be collective punishment, which is contrary to the IOC charter in any case, and particularly with no credible evidence. The IOC, that hotbed of corrupt whores, has compromised the integrity of the games to such an extent that they shall need to be re-instituted by a new and unaligned rival body. The timid Greek committee must find the courage to deny them the FLAME and legitimacy!
“The timid Greek committee must find the courage to deny them the FLAME and legitimacy!”
Yes!!! Great idea.
They have that power.
Hey, maybe they should use that power they have to get a better deal out of the EU.
Like, all debts canceled or you can take a flying Eff if you think you are going to get our Sacred Eff while playing your petty Games against Russia.
An Eff for and Eff.
Historically I think the Greeks are closer culturally to the Russians than the West. Despite “the West” having stolen a bunch of the Greeks’ ideas.

In my honest opinion, I believe that by not boycotting the Olympics, the Russian authorities have disgraced themselves, their country and their athletes.
By not boycotting these Winter Olympics, you are showing a lack of courage and honor, assuming these words even exist these days.
I am absolutely not a fan of the Communist regime of the Soviet Union, but the boycotting of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics by the Soviet Union, following the pathetic US boycott of the Moscow games in 1980, the Soviets showed real strength !
Let me remind everyone what was said back then:
The USSR announced its intentions to boycott the 1984 Summer Olympics on May 8, 1984, citing security concerns and “chauvinistic sentiments and an anti-Soviet hysteria being whipped up in the United States.”
Does it ring a bell to you ??
Are we not in a time where “chauvinistic sentiments and anti-Russian hysteria is being whipped up “??
That’s my opinion too. Individual or not, a sportsman from Russia is representing Russia, he/she must decide to act accordingly : boycott the Olympics. If his/her ego is higher than the Russian national interest, then he/she does not represent Russia. Putin has managed to put this heavy decision on the shoulders of sportsmen and sportswomen : what is more dear for them, Russia or themselves ?
Ioan. Would you do that if you were in the same situation? After years of hard work, and with a responsibility to relatives who have supported you through thick and thin, after sacrificing so much of your time and energy and also theirs. Would you really? If so, you are truly a remarkable person, and I admire you.
I am sure that persons who know you in real life also admire your strength and integrity.
But if, on the other hand, you are not absolutely sure how you, yourself, would decide in the same situation, you should not criticize them. (And I say the same to everybody who harshly criticizes the Russian athletes.)
My personal decision would be that, but…I would take into consideration the opinions and desire of the entire team. If the team would decide to take part in the competition, I would do the same and I would fight twice above my physical and spiritual powers to be the best of the bests.
Saker I am sorry to have to disagree with your thinking on this issue.
Putin thinks in terms of Armageddon.
I have heard him speak that word.
I take him at it. Do you.?
I see here now and then discourse on Russian Orthodoxy. But do you believe…I don’t know…you don’t seem to want to actually take on board Putin’s acknowledgement of the times.
It is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Israeli state come May 2017.
I am sure Putin has read the book and understands that event.
But as for the current attack on Russia and Russians by the IOC and Wada my view is that given the times and Putin faith and the path he is destined to walk his turning the other cheek is correct and to be applauded. These acts of courage are what will add up to advantage on that last of days. These arrows he takes now will lesson the missiles in the future SO wake up to yourself good man and show some spine. I like you Saker. I have read your blog for years. I am dirt poor and mostly blind now and I wish I had even a dollar I could send you but I don’t and can’t.
Armageddon is a certainty. You may not believe but you had better believe that others believe and you had better start getting your head around the fact that the world has large religious groupings with eschatologies which are now activated.
The train has left the station.
You wish the Armagedon , you are salivating for the Armagedon , don`t you ?
Maybe even if God does not send us the Armagedon for now , you would like to provoque it if you could ” the train has left the station ” ….. don`t you ?
Only our personal armagedons are guaranteed , we just live a few decades … but the colective Armagedon … the Judgement of the Nations … only Gof the Father knows the day and the hour , said Jesus Christ .
Orate, in a sense, Izaates bar Monobazeus is absolutely right about the train having left the station. Revelation 12 was fulfilled on 23rd September, 2017: 2-months ago. People might deny it, but all the software calculating this stuff suggests that this is a one-off event, not something that will ever be repeated. That should make us all sit up and take notice.
There is a bunch of things to happen prior to Armageddon (the Third Temple needs rebuilt, for instance, and the 70-generations are all but up from the time of their prophecy), so it’s not necessarily just around the corner, but it’s coming. So, is it ten years? Twenty? I don’t know because, as you said, only God the Father knows the day and the hour.
Mr. Putin is wise man.
the evil that is being rejected usually “fly” back as a boomerang to sender.
Russian athletes can compete under other flags e.g. Syrian or North Korean. Russian soldiers are fighting for Syria. why not even in the sport? it would be nice to see a Russian athlete receiving a medal with a picture of the Mr. Asad on the shirt.
This is a well designed tackle targeted at VVP himself given his sportman “alter ego” that is widely promoted in russia. The secondary target is to tear each athlete away from ROC leadership by allowing them compete in a competition where ROC has been banned. Allowing them run kills this objective as a russian winner will still be recognized as a russian winner unless their names will also be muddled up too. “Face the war kill the rhetorics”
When you stooped to conquer, 3 things will be clear.
1. Once out of the race you don’t exist. that is what the enemy desire in the first case. the only other strategy that can carry weight is to organize a competing game, with equal visibility, and reward. this is too late, too expensive and will be clearly reactive.
2. Even when you are nearing parity with you enemy, it is prudent to look weak for as long as possible. take the shaming if it will allow you hit harder. at least let the enemy waste more energy shaming you than you resisting it.
3. Getting an opportunity to show the world the umpire is biased is only possible when you run rather than boycott or be forced to boycott.
While I fear for the athletes personal safety, it’s ok to make a clear statement that any attempt to isolate russians will somehow be destabilized. Unless south korea refuses them visas the supporters should join the game to cheer their team.
I will not watch the olympics, I never have but what’s wrong in the kids running around. It keeps them fit and they are easy to convert into agile soldiers and special force members when the shooting starts. Sport is not very useful, but its definitely not useless.
Haters gotta hate as they say and no bigger haters than the media, handmaidens of the elite. The British media drool over this ban and the fake news of Russian doping while defending the very highly suspect British cycling establishment. The Russkies should go. During the World Championship athletics recently commentators referred to the ‘neutrals’ as Russians. Most of the commentators are sportspeople and many have sympathy with Russia. It’s only old establishment useful idiots like ‘Lord’ Coe who fly the flag for the elites. They’re on their way out and they are fighting the dying of the light. Dragging the punishment out for something that allegedly happened in 2014 increasingly looks vindictive.
It is as obvious as a crow in a bowl of milk that the UK as a country cheated their way to medals in the London Olympics.
The Wada attack on Russia was a reverse rerun of the London Scam. Exactly what Russia stands accused of is what the UK did in the London Olympics.
In any event the Olympics is only the appetiser. North Korea will create the next vector of attack on Russia by acting in such a way as to force the abandonment of the abandonment of the upcoming Winter Olympics. Russia will be painted as a member of an evil axis alongside North Korea. A global reaction will be generated and steps will be taken tp strip Russia of the World Cup. I think. Maybe.
I admit, I’m guilty.
I used to think that the mind stream which is attempting to run this world into the ground contained at least a bit of basic intelligence, albeit in a shrewd and cunning sort of way. But lately it really seems that they’re nothing but a bunch raging suicidal dimwits of the first order, kind of like the same mind set that we see within the extreme leftist groups that are popping up all over the world with incredible financial backing.
What are they thinking?
This crazy Russian Collusion idea that they crafted up is completely ruining what little reputation that the MSM had left, I mean even the most lobotomized portion of the general population are somehow beginning to recognize that something is very wrong with the garbage that’s issuing from the talking heads in their TV sets.
This crazy Russian ban is going to ruin the reputation of the Olympics in the exact same way. Even a rock outside your house knows that this ban has nothing to do with facts and everything to do with politics.
I couldn’t be happier.
There is one point missed there.
WADA is told to be international organization. It is not, it is UK organization.
Or, more accurate, Her Majesty Queen’s of England organization
https://plus.google.com/+AriochThe/posts/GT2o3Npyf6Z
1. WADA bosses always were and are serfs of Her Majesty. Citizens of other states are prohibited from leading WADA
2. As soon as WADA got founded British and other Her Majesty’s champions started getting unproportionalyl gorwing number of medals, year after year
PS. https://plus.google.com/+AriochThe/posts/CyuBArPQRFo
PPS. Reminder: Olympics ban is not about doping, is not about sports, it is about WADA’s access to Russian military installations: https://www.rbc.ru/society/20/05/2016/573eb1169a794713cbd28da2
Also, you are forgetting about football world championship 2018, which WASPs are dreaming to steal from Russia
The witch hunting at Olympics is disgusting, but it also shows their influence.
In case Russia makes sharp moves w.r.t. Olympics – they can try to use this leverage to prohibit 2018 football too.
In a sense I understand why Russia is not going to boycott the games: there is a World Cup in Russia next summer, and the Empire would be quite happy to retaliate in a tit-for-tat boycott: the US soccer team isn’t participating after all.
It’s scandalous that broad brush strokes affect all the athletes, including the innocent, but as noted by another contributor, there is nothing at all to stop the IOC politicizing this further and taking medals from Russian participants after the fact. They’ve done it before.
Since Russia won’t officially boycott the games I hope that Russian athletes do it themselves, offering a great big middle finger salute to the IOC, its colonial supporters, and the continuing demonization of the only country which actually stands square in support of International Law.
Personally, I would really like to see every Russian athlete stand against participating in these Olympics. But I also understand the immense disappointment of having their native country banned and all their hard work go unrewarded, so I certainly would understand if they went anyway. For several of them this might even be their last chance at the Olympics.
What a shame, and how very regrettable that the Olympics have been brought this low.
Having said all this, however, I strongly believe that the next move Russia should take is to take this into the courts. I strongly believe that the so-called ‘evidence’ presented by WADA would not in any way stand up to legal review.
I saw how angry Putin was,and still is, about being confronted with that stupid doping sh*t. He told the officials who started the mess to clean it up. They didn’t. He wants to do big politics, not being distracted with such nonsense!
The topathletes will compete, for money they get for top results, incl. ads contracts. To avoid medals, which probably will be taken way afterwards, for example, just kneel down in front of the finish line for a minute…,or produce own goals in the semi final game…
So show the world the middlefinger
And ,don’t forget next year’s FIFA…. it’s more important to Putin than winter games in Korea.
Russia is the great balancer, Putin its impeccable representation and leader.
Putin’s response to Zion’s expulsion of Russia from Zion’s Olympics is once again far beyond anything any mediocre statesman could have come up with. Putin is the mountain that makes all other mountains look like pebbles. Just imagine hopefully as many Russian athletes as possible competing under neutral flags – the hearts of whole humanity would be with them.
Short: yet another unforgivable, silly, unforced error by Zion. 2018 will be ten times worse than crazy 2017.
I don`t give a fig for the Olympics , I have not watched them for decades , they are politics , propaganda wars , manipulation , money , tv bussines , power games , as we see ….. who cares …
“Tempora mutantur, nos et mutamur in illis” — How the times have changed, and how we have changed with them! I have not watched the Olympics since the first time the USA tried to ban Russia. In those far off times it was to protest against The Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan, and I was quite willing to join the protest. However, I was dissuaded by the words of a young British athlete named Sebastian Coe, who said that boycotts were not sportsmanlike. Nowadays I regard Soviet communist influence as the best thing for Afghanistan in our lifetime; and I hear Lord Coe sits quite high in the present unsporting IOC. How we both have changed.
PS in ancient Greece athletes were supposed to represent themselves not their country, neither were they awarded gold nor silver nor even bronze but a simple laurel wreath.
Everywhere the angloyankis go, everything the angloyankis do , they always carry with them their Protestant supremacist hateful self righteous spirit . They hate Catholics and Orthodox , they are always warring the ” infidels ” .
Have you read Harold Bloom `s book ” The American Religion ” ? ,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_American_Religion
This type of imperial and “if they don’t submit then crush them” mentality of the Anglozionist will continue to prevail until the resistance block in the world view such things as a shot not just to the affected party (Russia) but the entire block ( I mean those sincere in there resistance). But national leaders are too “pragmatic” to let such things affect their national interest, it’s disgusting how nations hide under the guise of national interest to allow injustices to pass only to cry foul when it’s there turn to go under the knife of imperial oppression. Why can’t the world see the essence of our humanity as injustice done to one is done to all? This has always been the easiest divide and conquer that has worked to perfection from time immemorial and until we have a block that can say enough, we shall continue to witness humiliations like this.
I don’t think any good decision can be taken because the IOC clearly did something stupid.
If Putin decides to boycott the Olympics, he’ll piss off some athletes who have been training every day for years just for these games. The media will spin it off as “see? Russia is boycotting because they’re all cheaters anyway”.
If he decides to not boycott, he might make Russia look “weak” by delegating the decision on the athletes.
But whatever he does, the Olympics start looking more and more like a joke. I wouldn’t be surprised that they start running into commercial problems in a few years. People don’t like politics in their entertainments.
In the end I believe Putin thought about the athletes and wanted to give them free will. After all, they’re the ones who trained and are the most concerned to take a decision.
Putin has made the right decision. He can watch and applaud the Russian athletes. The commentators will look churlish if they continually ignore or chastise athletes who’ve given their all, win medals and individually are clean and can’t be disqualified (unless outright fraudulent tests are used). By end of Olympics it’ll be clear that the charges of widespread doping are absurd.
The Russian athletes might not have the anthem or flag, but they could sing/mouth the words of the anthem (a bit like black power salutes at the 1936 Berlin games).
This is outrageous.
Beyond belief, how far these people will go.
Holding athletes—and the world—hostage to this really **petty** crap.
I, too, am basically indifferent to the Olympics.
But it is an important international organization that was *supposed* to be apolitical or at least transcend politics, if only for a specific time. A time was I believe was considered semi-sacred. The sacred torch.
I mean, in Greece.
We saw how Hitler tried to use the Olympics to further his ideological agenda.
This is the same thing. .
Per Wiki:
“The ancient Olympic Games were originally a festival, or celebration of and for Zeus; later, events such as a footrace, a javelin contest, and wrestling matches were added. . . .
During the celebration of the games, an ***Olympic Truce*** was enacted so that athletes could travel from their cities to the games in safety. The prizes for the victors were olive leaf wreaths or crowns. . . . ”
What the heck happened to the Olympic Truce?
.
I wonder where the Greek government stands on this. After all, the imperialists stole the idea from them.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare the IOC to Hitler. After all – Hitler didn’t ban any nationality from competing under their flag.
Putin’s response to the IOC blanket ban makes a lot of sense, and serves to expose the IOC and WADA for what they are – a bunch of hypocritical manager pawns who have nothing to do with fair play and Olympic ideals. One can assume that Russians are the healthiest of athletes if the leaked documents of ‘ill’ US athletes who tested positive for ‘approved’ banned substances are examined – over 600 cases including many Olympic medallists! I wager that the longest and loudest applause at the ‘games’ will be reserved for the no-name brand athletes. May they ski/skate faster and fly further!
A US Senator gives the game away: forget doping, the bully Putin must be stood up to! https://www.facebook.com/senschumer/posts/10156087970344407
the evil judo practitioner has just made a master stroke….waddha and iciest moves are, a shot in their own foot….Hope, this evil move by the leader of a free country, will in fact ,sent the maximum number of athletic possible to korea…neutralia… will win the most medals and the whole world will k,now that..its the evil judo masters citizens.A own goal by team chaos for sure.
How about Russia, minting their own gold/silver/bronze medals with real gold and silver…to give to their athletes afterwards.
Should be treasured by the recipients more than the fake gold/silver clad ones
issued by the olympics.
Didn’t some of the so gold ones issued in Brazil, start to tarnish immediately afterwards??
Just a thought.
Schumer is a really pure distillation of all that is vile in the Zionazis.
Having come to the conclusion that international sport (esp. professional, which is most) has been corrupted by the greed for money and dubious prestige, e.g. Lance Armstrong (my son being a competitive cyclist at amateur level told me years before Mr. Armstrong was outed that in order to compete in an event such as the Tour de France without taking performance enhancing drugs was a pipe dream and that everyone in the sport wondered what drugs the top competitiors were on that they avoided detection, everyone not just Mr. Armstrong.), as well as the overt rigging of results by officials and or participants for whatever reasons (gambling/money?) for many many years, I have given up watching most of it including and primarily the Olympics.
But I will be sure to boycott all of the sponsors for the rest of my life, as I already do to some companies whose policies I disagree with.
If enough of us hit the sponsors in the pocket and watch them change their tune!
Suggest The Russian Team “Take a knee”, whenever they have an opportunity. Would probably fuel a World Wide Media Frenzy, with focus on this stupid decision.
If you are working to establishing a New World Order, you want all Populations, having a Nationalistic feeling. Sports, Flags and National anthems are means to support that. The Olympic Games have all of these.
The AngloZionists just cut off another branch, they were sitting on.
Personally, I put my bets on Putin, coming out the winner.
Great suggestion. The eyeballs of the lily white commentators would pop out of the sockets. There of course would be a black out (pardon the phrase) of the act until it could filter from alternate media sites into the popular culture of the Western countries. It would be just a step below what Tommie Smith and John Carlos did.
The NYTimes and WaPo would charge the Russian winners with increasing racial tensions in the US.
Russian athletes are presently, for two years, screened by WADA. So they are as clean as any. They should go, compete, win.
Those medals are victories for Mother, whether they are in uniform of RF or Flag or anthem are present when they take the podium.
Set records with their Russian names as emblems of RF.
Perform with great dignity and you win the battle of propaganda.
A soldier does not need a flag or uniform to win the war. He needs to defeat the enemy.
Triumph is certain for many of the athletes and teams that will go.
The underlying corruption of the IOC has been its signature for decades.
Playing these hegemonic games is dirty business.
Also, the Russian sports community failed the nation allowing doping to rise to a pandemic. They shamed the nation. It was not necessary.
The effort should have been to expose other nations and win that propaganda war.
The US has medical excuses for all their doping stars. The same should have been exposed.
Now, the only sensible solution is compete, win, celebrate.
And rid sports of corrupt and crooked ways. It is not necessary. Russians have great athletes. And they have ever more incentive to defeat their enemies now and forever.
Oh, yeah?
only as long as ‘pardoned’ and ‘approved’ by the us medal sellers?
And with a banner of the IOC and why not a western nickname like Bob for example?
I suggest Putin is wrong.
And that every russian approved one… brings a small russian flag hidden in his back and waves it to the cameras.
great attitude from Putin.
it is up to the athletes to show of what alloy they are made. If they “win” they could refuse to accept the medal or better accept it and donate it to Russia’s war fund.
What the coca cola comity ignores is that action and reaction are equal but opposite.
coca cola comity….sounds about right!
This is the best way to go.
https://cdn3.img.sputniknews.com/images/105974/99/1059749974.jpg
this is what happens after a free coca cola.
I wonder if it is possible for other athletes also to compete under the neutral flag. After all theat would make the Olympics a universal competition as Saker suggests would be better – all nations but no exceptional ones. And simply the Olympic anthem as accolade.
Wont happen this time I guess, but Russia could be setting a precedent here, and who knows, maybe some honorable athletes will join them at the last minute.
This could be interesting. I like that Putin is not denying his athletes the chance to compete, as Carter did back in the day.
Grigory Rodchenkov – “Certifiable charlatan”
https://meduza.io/en/feature/2017/12/05/a-certifiable-charlatan
There is something we can do. We can watch ONLY Russian athletes, on the Internet, on TV, whatever. If a significant fraction of the worldwide viewing audience watches only Russians, Hegemon and the Corporations will get the message where it hurts the most, in their ad revenue.
I have extremely mixed feelings about this, and I could change my mind, but my current thought comes down to agreeing with the Saker. It’s the old adage “Never play another man’s game.” This “game” is obviously rigged against Russia, and I fear that if athletes attend there is a plan in place to have them turn up dirty or otherwise be yet further embarrassment to Russia, with the IOC jumping up and down screaming “See, we told you so!”
Perhaps it would be best for Russia to boycott the games, as suggested, and employ asymmetric warfare tactics. Rather than playing their game, allocate the entire budget that had been set aside for the games to lawsuits on behalf of all athletes of the last games and this games against the IOC. After all, we know that the entire “case” against Russia is based on the testimony of two, yes TWO, discredited and disgruntled Russians, a doping athlete and an official on the run for charges brought by Russian authorities that he had assisted the other athlete to dope, and thus both were seeking shelter among those they knew would reward them well for any anti-Russian story they would tell. We know that the Canadian “investigator” never investigated, and no actual evidence has ever been produced, making the mass ban totally arbitrary and unethical.
To the contrary, the only actual evidence actually surfacing was the assurances by the (I believe Swiss) manufacturer of the sample bottles that they could not in fact have been doctored as suggested by the accusers, and the Wikileaks publications showing that virtually every American athlete is on every sort of performance enhancing drug and/or narcotic, but that somehow “it’s okay because they brought a note from their doc.” Seriously? Since when was that an accepted excuse? And oddly, that excuse was laughed away when Sharapova tried it. And in all the other (non-olympic) matches throughout the world over the last several years, where athletes are still subjected to independent testing, while there were occasional positives for doping by Russian athletes, it was certainly never greater than “average.”
Since we know the actual facts are overwhelmingly in favor of Russia, I think they should pay for their athletes (as individuals) to pursue every conceivable legal forum, asserting their personal damages for being unjustly denied their games, because that would force the IOC to produce some evidence to support their position. Can you imagine the fun of taking depositions of the ex-Russian accusers and even individual IOC members (they aren’t a nation, they are a corporation, so there should be no applicable claims of immunity)? Take away the US’s ability to continually air unsubstantiated rumors and manipulate the process behind the scenes. Throw some light on it!
well; you see; IOC have a list of DRUGS you can use, and you cannot use!!!! Any western drugs; you OK!!! Cavior and vodka its illigal drugs!!!!!!!!! ps; did you notice last few years ; western [aspecially US, ] any tournament in Russia [or China] western sportsmens not take part of any of them???
Russia Banned From Winter Olympics – the Reaction
https://themoscowtimes.com/news/russia-banned-from-winter-olympics-the-reactions-59819
I would say, don’t worry about it i.e. the IOC ban. Organise a rival games to the Olympics. Organise a “World Games” with BRICS countries as proponents. IN clude especially the countries of Eurasia, Africa, Eastern and Central Europe, South America and all other countries who would join. The Olympics are becoming too commercialised, politicised and meaningless – much like its historical precedent from which the modern Games professed to draw its inspiration, the ancient Greek Olympics.
Russia needs to start their own winter Olympics in Sochi and invite all the Asia pacific nations!
