Over 1,200,000 infected, 70,000 dead by COVID-19, food shortage – the US has serious problems. But the democracy peddlers from Washington don’t have time for that. Instead of fighting the epidemic, the American elite keeps trying to establish marionette regimes in the countries where they can carve up natural resources, and they soiled themselves, as it happened again in Venezuela.
The less opportunity the US has to solve problems in their customary manner – by flooding it all with money, the more often they result in all sorts of embarrassments. For instance, the recent disgrace of the supposedly 5th generation aircraft F-35. This is the very case of whatever the amount of money you pour in it doesn’t help. Because the school of engineering has degraded and the real achievements have been replaced by imitation for the sake of redistribution of billions.
The American foreign policy is in a similar situation. Washington has always relied on force, and on a usual scheme of buying out parts of the local elites, so they would help to overthrow the unwanted government. Very recently this again yielded results in the South American Bolivia. Because the overthrown president Evo Morales behaved exceedingly vegetarian. But there is also Venezuela which for the US plays the role of a bone in their throat. Our [Russian] strategic bombers fly over there. Rosneft is working there. There also sits Nicolas Maduro, whom they attempted to overthrow by force a few times but to no avail. And now we have more public self-soiling.
RIA Novosti: “On 3 May, the Interior Minister Nestor Reverol announced that a naval invasion staged by Colombian militants from the direction of La Guiara in the north of the country was thwarted. According to him, the militants tried to invade the country on high speed boats. The Speaker of Venezuelan National Assembly Diosdado Cabello clarified that 8 attackers were killed and two captured.” “He also announced that one of the captured was an agent of the US Drug Enforcement Administration. Later Cabello informed that on Monday, the military and the police in the Northern Sate of Aragua captured another 8 participants of the Sunday naval invasion, including their leader Antonio Sikea.”
The mercenaries were recruited by the Americans among the former members of Venezuelan security forces, who had deserted earlier to the side of the so-called pro-Western opposition, while their American leader has rich experience of participation in conflicts unleashed by the US; from invasion of Iraq to operations in Libya and Syria. Is it then surprising that in Washington they immediately sang denial – the man wasn’t theirs and the US had nothing to do with it?
“The American DEA denies that its operative was detained during an armed assault attempt in Venezuela, asclaimed by the country’s authorities.” “The Agency did not take any part in the events of the past weekend, stated the agency’s press service, having advised to also inquire in the State Department.”
The humor in the situation is such that the US media themselves already wrote about the US’ part in yet another attempt to overthrow Maduro.
Iron Curtain (Telegram account): “The Head of PMC ‘Silvercorp USA’ Jordan Goudreau claimed that on Sunday, 3 May he initiated the operation of overthrowing President Nicolas Maduro. However it failed. As The New York Times stated, the group was tasked with penetrating into Venezuela ‘with heavy weapons’, seizing the government buildings within 96 hours, and arresting of the country’s president Nicolas Maduro. The bet was made on ‘demoralization’ of the army, but the Venezuelans managed to defeat the mercenaries.”
It’s no matter whether the American was a DEA operative or had a different ‘roof’. It is clear that now, as he got caught, he is being retroactively removed from any US governmental structure and they will claim that it was his private initiative. Although, if the published information about his work in the White House Secret Service is correct, it is also clear that the operation was sanctioned by the highest ranks of the American state. And that the US has been trying to openly overthrow Maduro for two years is a generally recognised fact. The events demonstrate that the American capabilities for forcible influence over uncomfortable governments are withering away. And the American elites themselves contribute to it enormously while preparing for the autumn battle for the presidential post.
This is why it is not surprising that The New York Times quickly seized the topic of the failure in Venezuela. This will be presented as Donald Trump’s failure and he, in turn, will surely remind the Democrats their disgrace in Benghazi, where during Obama, the American nurtured terrorists killed US citizens. In general, they keep gnawing on each other in Washington. In the meantime, the star-stripped hegemony weakens month by month. And this is good, because the world will be able to breath more freely, when the democracy exporters will spend all their efforts on fighting each other inside their own state.
It looks like this operation was designed to fail. What covert operator carries his military ID on a mission? My guess is that, like the the Bay of Pigs fiasco, it was meant to force the US into attacking Venezuela, which eventually they will, as Iranian oil tankers head to Venezuela and the US navy is determined to stop them. This will inevitably lead to US ships being attacked, which would then be the pretext for an all-out invasion, which would almost certainly involve the Russians and the Iranians. World War III, here we come.
Or it could well be that the US Clown Cowboys have just miscalculated again, more than likely in yet another lame attempt to stir up public outrage that’s apparently not forthcoming anytime soon. Say what you will about Americans’ long standing public apathy toward all things political, but it seems to at the very least pay dividends in the manufacturing of consent arena, wherein the lapdog media, try as they might, can’t seem to stir the somnambulant American public into any sense of decent outrage over their patently obvious manufactured international hysteria events anymore, at least when it doesn’t involve them and their smart phones personally. Unfortunately, not that it deters our policy makers in the least either.
Fortunately for us all, I trust that the Russians and the Iranians have already gamed this to avoid the conflagration you speak of.
We’ll see what happens when those Iranian oil tankers enter the Caribbean. As The Saker recently said…
“The bottom line is this: if Uncle Shmuel decides to seize/attack the Iranian tankers, there is not only a quasi certitude of a war between the US and Iran (or, at the very least, an exchange of strikes), but there is also a non-trivial possibility that Maduro and his government might actually decide to provoke the USA into a war they really can’t win.”
It wouldn’t be Maduro provoking anythingit would be the US,i wish the Russians would send an escort.
First ship Fortune is in Venezuela’s EEZ.
On the same days of this failure in the news here in Colombia was announced an embarrassment situation for the Colombian military who lost three river boats with arms and ammo in the Orinoco riverside in limits with Venezuela that magically appeared under Venezuela military custody after they “found” on their river side “empty” without crew. So I think the Venezuela military captured the so called crew in that region as well that by the way is a thousand km far from the news reported here. Venezuela’s Maduro told the government in Colombia that the boats will be returned only under formal requests and explanations of the situation!
It is hard to predict how these things develop, but I think if the US was looking for a pretext to go to war, Iran had provided that opportunity when its missiles attacked US military site after Gen Soleimani’s cowardly murder by the Americans. A lot of huff and puff and war talk is part of US election cycles. Apparently, the American public likes its leaders rabid and crazy, perhaps the crazier the better. The risk lies in local situations getting out of hand. And then all bets are off when the other party is China or Russia. Sad, the whole world being held hostage to a war criminal country and its crazy leaders.
Incredible as it may sound, most of the millions who died in wars since 1914 were victims – collateral damage, you might say – of US politics.
The typical American leader has always been brash, boastful and ready for extreme violence provided he is quite sure of winning at very slight cost.
In this respect Pompeo and Trump are exactly in the mould of General Patton, Teddy Roosevelt and General Custer.
Poor Custer was unfortunate enough to have underestimated his enemy fatally. Something similar could easily have happened to Roosevelt, who bluffed enormously throughout his career.
Tom, you must be English!
WW I an American Affair? Blame the Yanks for Edward the 7th’s clear plan for the twentieth Century,
Wars to prevent the industry of Germany to link up with the natural resources and manpower of Russia to develop the “World Island” into a superior and more pacific force than The British Empire……..were a British Plan not an American one.
When the host country and its dough boys or whatever you call them were somewhat exhausted and the British Navy became a joke compared to the one the Yanks could make…your elites simply geared up the subversion of the colonials through Wall Street, Hollywood and so forth.
“And the rest is History!”
AZ Empire History.
And what pray tell does the A stand for???
It’s the same today, except there’s a chance that the tide on John Bullshit’s Methods ….is Going Out…and leaving y’all (which even dumb Americans can now finally see!) with your Narrative Control Pants down…
Kinda like the two mercenary clowns.
Nice try though, to attempt to shed a century of crimes and frame up Yankee Doodle Dandy for them all, so you can feel all good about yourselves……and your rotten pedophile ruling class.
Nice One! LOL
Tom Welsh is spot on. While Britain was indeed imperialist, it was never a force of pure evil and wanton destruction as the USA has been. The British empire left in its wake schools, hospitals, universities, railways, dams, roads, education, modern sanitation all over Africa, India and elsewhere. The Americans destroy things wherever they go, creating nothing. The Americans will be judged by history as more vicious than the Nazis and more destructive than Genghis Khan.
“In this respect Pompeo and Trump are exactly in the mould of General Patton, Teddy Roosevelt and General Custer.”
Teddy roosevelt, definitely, but patton and custer actually had combat experience. And in the case of custer, he actually had a rep for not being a coward. I’m less sure of patton, though, having never sifted through the propaganda about him. Both trump or pompaio, like roosevelt, are self important blowhards who never have exhibited any real personal bravery. All 5 of these critters fail completely as human beings, being war criminals and essentially without any decent moral grounding. They definitely have that in common.
Didn’t Iran also capture some American sailors aboard 2 US command boats that had “accidentally” strayed into Iranian territorial waters in 2016?
It was reported that some of the brave US Navy soldiers started crying after they were captured by the Iran.

Perhaps several diapers and a big box of tissue should be mandatory-issued equipment for both American military personnel and their mercenary proxies.
As I opined in the comments thread to The Saker’s most recent post, this was not an attempted coup. Rather, it was an attempt to embarrass and compromise Juan Guaido who, I believe, has reached his use-by date for some within the US intelligence community. In short, the operation was designed to fail. I believe Guaido when he says he had nothing to do with Silvercorp (notwithstanding the incriminating, but probably forged, signature on the contract). My guess is Luis Parra will succeed Guaido in US affections once, as Arthur noted in that previous thread, the counter-revolutionaries take the initiative/bait. Trump seemed genuinely caught off balance at the time of the attempted landings in Venezuela. If this is so, it may mean that the State Department was not privy to the machinations of one or more of the intelligence services.
No Bay of Pigs repeat attempted here. I do not believe Trump is going to war with Venezuela.
Ruslan says “American capabilities for forcible influence over uncomfortable governments is withering away”. Maybe, maybe not. Only time will tell.
We are back to first principles of Republic versus Empire.
I am not sure whether it was John Quincy Adams, US Ambassador to Russia besides other leading posts (POTUS 1825-1829)
https://ru.usembassy.gov/embassy-consulates/st-petersburg/american-faces-places/john-quincy-adams-russia/
or James Monroe but one of them, I believe is famous for this statement of principle for US Foreign Policy:
“The United States should never be a cock boat sailing in the wake of a British Man o’ War.”
Many of our Anglo-feely-feely “blue blood” families disagreed and followed their noses wherever Empire Fast Profits in Opium or natural resource looting might lead them…..in the wake of their English Senior Partners.
That’s it in a nutshell.
That Man o War is not a ship. It is The Diabolical “Divide et Impera” State of the Imperial Mind.
As the Cock boat is a metaphor for the Colonial but Tory “American” Minion of Empire, never an American Patriot.
But that Patriot has gotten mightily confused and mis-directed on multiple occasions , especially since the “Prince of the Isles” (Edward VII) set the world in motion toward The Flames of War…late in the nineteenth century.
Not had much free time lately, but finally was able to watch this report. Thoroughly engoyed this one.
Meanwhile the first of 5 tankers from Iran has arrived in Venezuela.

The US hubris and arrogance knows no bounds! The US is a law less criminal terrorist rogue state that thinks its invincible. Kudos to Maduro and all Venezuelans for standing up to the criminal psychopath mass murdering evil thieving looting empire. Its main tools are war of aggression, political subversion, evil criminal sanctions that kill innocent civillians, deception and corruption. The US is backed up in all this by its psychopathic criminal allies- vassal states UK, Canada, EU, Israhell, etc.
It is a shame the US and its criminal allies (UK, Canada, Australia, Israhell etc), also blame China for COVID-19 , yet its the US who created it at Fort Detrick (North Carolina) , then released it on China during world military games in Wuhan Oct 2019. Bill Gates even ran a simulation exercise in Oct 2019 termed Event 201, of a virus named SARS-2 covid, where he predicted pandemic deaths of 65m people. The virus later appeared in China in 2019 Dec after the 300 US servicemen have infected the staff at The Orient Express in Wuhan where they stayed during world military games in oct 2019. Corona deaths started in US North Carolina around Fort Detrick in Sept 2019 of which 14000 died and US lied to the WHO that these deaths were from Influenza. CDC director refuted these lies and confirmed to US corrupted greedy Congress that the deaths were due to Corona Virus (Covid-19)in Mar 2020. So the master arsonist, lights the fire, then blames the victim china for it. This is just how psychopathic the US is.
