Foreign Minister Lavrov just made the following statement that Russia is willing to sever her ties with the EU if the EU introduces new sanctions. He said:
“Мы исходим из того, что мы готовы [к разрыву с Евросоюзом]. Если мы еще раз увидим, как мы уже почувствовали не единожды, что в каких-то областях накладываются санкции, которые создают риски для нашей экономики, в том числе в самых чувствительных сферах, — да. Хочешь мира — готовься к войне”
“We proceed from the fact that we are ready [to break with the European Union]. If we once again see, as we have already felt more than once, that sanctions are imposed in some areas that create risks for our economy, including in the most sensitive areas, – yes. If you want peace, prepare for war“.
This is exactly what I have been advocating for and predicting.
Not a moment too soon.
The Saker
Kremlin clarified it for the dense EU’ers. “Pound sand!”
And Mr Lukashenko is right.
I wonder if Sergei blew cigarette smoke in their faces, too.
Larchmonter445
What in fact he did was give the EU a knock out punch which the EU, in it’s wildest dreams, never expected. We have now entered new times. The EU will now have to chose between the US or Russia. If it chooses the US, then EU member states will chose Russia and the EU will start to break up, slowly but surely. I think that this was a master stroke by Lavrov. After all, the US is on the other side of the Atlantic, while Russia is part of Europe. Politics is politics, but business is business.
I don’t think they have to choose – they just have to stop facilitating the insanity of USA – its not that the US will break off ties with EU – even though they might threaten – EU could LEAD the US into better paths…by refusing to be the slave of terrible US foreign policy. But its all being run by a global cartel, for who knows what reason
Reasons?
Money, Power, Total control
and enjoying the suffering of the goyim
In order for the EU to “lead the US into better paths”, it would first have to actually stop following them on their mad quest for social, cultural and economic conquest of the planet…
And the system run by American democrat party autocrat crazies is appearing to be insane to the rest of the world. We just saw then expose how they steal elections OPENLY in your face. We saw the autocrats that game the system in the United States (which most of us here have understood for decades to be an illusion of democracy) openly display their hubris to the rest of sleeping ignorant America and the EU. They a got a taste of the utter stupidity and hubris of American oligarchs silencing their own president, and even Merkel and Macron have understood that they would be next and hence their well founded fear that eventually they’ll end up under the overt boot of an imbecile like Jack Dorsey or worse. The EU has no choice but to hedge their bets by having more than one option. If the EU makes this mistake, they will be inviting massive destabilization: most of central and eastern Europe would start to pull away. Those closet 3rd Reich’ers in Germany (and Switzerland) will regret falling into the trap of pushing Russia completely into the hands of China.
Don’t be so upset, it is the US, you know..
What did you expect?
Democracy?
Hahahaha!
Germany is trying to play both cards.
Partner with US,, and big trade deal with China, and enemy with and pressure on Russia to keep their conquered vassal states in East-Europe .
On what basis would Germany decide to make their #1 gas supplier an enemy?
Because US demand it.
Remember Germany has been smashed two times by the Cabal for growing too independent.
Merkel/Germany a few month ago asked US for partnership against Russia. They are that stupid.
they are not stupid, they are traitors.
Their eyes are already burning.
FM Lavrov’s statement was simply fact. In words that are unquestionable in their meaning, he told EU, and defacto SehSha, that the days of unanswered, continuous and open attacks, economic and dangerously close to overt military, on Rossiya are over.
Without Rossiya, western ‘europe’ will collapse economically. The continuous ‘me too’ economic and military sanctions against Rossiya will bring about a sudden and totally unexpected cessation of economic ties which may well include the all important lifeblood of gas and POL supply. With Germany waffling day to day about NS 2, today ‘we’ll stop it’, tomorrow ‘we can compromise’, the next day ‘we must put in a mechanism to stop the flow of gas in NS 2 when we have to’, there is the real possibility of Russia telling Germany that the project is over due to German not so sudden reluctance to complete the project which will bankrupt half the banks in europe, they are all carrying the billions of euro ‘insurance’ on the project and trust me, Rossiya will collect every kopek of the insurance and then completely and irrevocably turn to a most willing cash and carry customer for every wisp of NG Rossiya can provide, Katai.
I don’t think many of you have any idea of the real sanctions put on Rossiya that encompass every nook and cranny of Rossiya economic production and development. Here’s just what’s on The Federal City of Sevastopol and The Autonomous Republik of Krimea, who earned that bouquet of sanctions by refusing to let the orcs from Kiev come down here and ‘make your streets run red with blood’ (spoken in those words exactly in a live interview, 23 February 2014, 09:00, Channel 5 TV in Kiev, owned by Poroshenko, the ‘victor’ of maidan).
No Russian bank is allowed to operate in any way in either Federal City or Krimea. If they do, any and all trade and international operations with them will cease instantly and all assets in ‘foreign’ banks will be confiscated. Compliments of Saint Obama.
No food product of any kind can be brought to Krimea or Federal City without crossing the Orc/Krimea border. Again, Saint Obama.
No POL (petroleum, oil and lubricants) can be brought to Krimea or Federal City without crossing the Orc/Krimea border. Ditto.
No medicines or medical supplies including bandaids of any kind can be brought to Federal City or Krimea without crossing the Orc/Krimea border. Ditto on Saint Obama.
No machine or tool of any kind, be it a can opener or a huge milling machine, an automobile, a drill bit, nothing, can be brought to Federal City or Krimea without crossing the Orc/Krimea border. Ditto.
No agricultural production products, you know, fertilizers, seeds, tractors, plow blades, irrigation pumps, anything involved with growing food, can be brought to Federal City or Krimea without coming across the Orc/Krimea border. Ditto.
No trains or commercial aircraft are allowed in Federal City or Krimea without crossing the border with Orcland/Krimea. Ditto.
No sea craft of any kind from rubber boat to mega tanker is allowed to touch the coastal waters or harbors of Krimea or Federal City without permits and inspections by Orcland coastguard and customs. Ditto.
No mail of any kind can come to or leave from Federal City without going through Orcland Post. Ditto.
And that is far from all of the sanctions put on Federal City of Sevastopol and Autonomous Republik of Krimea.
There is not a single industry of any shape, size or form in Rossiya that has not had sanctions, major or minor, put on it in the last 20 or so years and Rossiya was supposed to succumb to the death of a thousand cuts…but she didn’t and now, after using the last 20 years to pull herself up by her boot straps from the despair and horror of the ‘fall’ of Soviet Union, she is back and has just said ‘enough’ by using a pole ax on the backs of the collective heads of ‘the west’. ‘europe’ in particular has just been warned in no uncertain terms to behave herself or else, this whilst all of us are watching the demise of SehSha, who is busily tearing herself to pieces in front of our very eyes. As the saying goes, ‘they whom the gods will destroy they first make mad’. In this case, no truer words have ever been spoken.

Auslander, my friend,
Thanks for enumerating the sanction regime the US has yoked your town and Russia with.
They would limit oxygen to Krim if they could.
But the result is progress, development and security as Russia and the people of Krim solve every issue, painful as they are.
Biden has already stated “never” to the question of would the US lift the sanctions. Good to know that he heard the words of the People of Krim as to when they would kneel to the Nazis and the Hegemon. He repeated that one word oath heard in 2014. And reiterated by President Putin and the Russian Military as to when the Black Sea would cease being a Russian lake. никогда! Never!
Larchmonter, my friend and comrade,
We will never surrender. Never! We make do as we can, we are warm in winter, well fed year ’round. They can scream all they want, but the bottom line is never will there be an ‘american black sea flot’. They already had their ‘flot’ HQ location picked out, right across from Baptist Church on Ulitsiya Simonok (Simonka) at the end of Ulitsiya Bogdanova, and the entire area of Rahdio Gorkha on North Side was to become ‘little usa’ after they kicked out the locals, all 30,000 of them in that little district, and take the three finest beaches on the west coast at ‘theirs’.
Well, they didn’t get our harbor, they didn’t get their ‘little usa’, they didn’t get their beaches and they didn’t get us.
Auslander
Love that last sentence !
@ Auslander: ” They already had their ‘flot’ HQ location picked out, right across from Baptist Church on Ulitsiya Simonok (Simonka) at the end of Ulitsiya Bogdanova, and the entire area of Rahdio Gorkha on North Side was to become ‘little usa’ after they kicked out the locals, all 30,000 of them in that little district, and take the three finest beaches on the west coast at ‘theirs’.”
Not doubting you, but I’d love to read up more on this. Do you have any links please. (Sorry if this is ‘off topic’ but this is how I learn about ‘the world outside The West’).
Trauma2000,
Very simple. My wife and I live not a kilometer from the proposed HQ site, which is to this day the location, from Czar times, of a fair sized Russian Navy Infantry (Spetznaz) base. Uchkuevka Park is right next to the base, fronting on T2707 at the intersection with Ulitsiya Bogdanova. 100 m away is the circle where T2707 ends and links to Ulitsiya Simonka and Levans’kogo, Levans’kogo going down to one of two north side ferry landings. Schools #40 and #5 also across the street from Base on Simonka and #40 had a contract on replacing the roof, signed and paid for, contract placed by United States Navy in if memory serves November of ’13. Contract is in English and I’ve read it. Contract is not available (officially) to public at this time. Rahdio Ghorka Region starts at the traffic circle and goes west to the Sea. Uchkuevka Park Beach is the finest in Sevastopol, Soldiers Beach right next to it runs a close second.
It is common knowledge on this site that my wife and I are, including at the time of the crisis, active with 35th Battery Museum. It is common knowledge on this site that the C&C nexus for Russian Spring was 35th Battery Museum. If you look at my author’s site, read some of the book reviews. I am sometimes accused in reviews of writing truth thinly disguised as fiction.

There were a lot more articles in the alternative media about this back in 2014-2015, but they are hard to find in the land of the free because of scrubbing of information from the internet by the (de)providers of information.
Here is the only link I could find, of a US Navy RFP for reconstruction of a training facility in Sevastopol.

Surely this long list of sanctions is mostly rendered irrelevant now that there is a bridge to Russia, no?
I simply listed a small part of the huge amount of sanctions against us just on this island. Do they work? Come for a visit and you’ll see with your own eyes.

I love Rossiya! Her patience is astounding as her loyalty to those who deserve it! I remember praying that Putin intervened in Syria and when he did I was overjoyed knowing that The Motherland is back as a counterbalance to the evil empire. Never give up, never surrendered. May Rossiya last another 1500 years!
Russia consists of many ethnic peoples and many of them originally from the east. They have a patience that is not 8years as it is in the west. Their families understand history and the past and they want to perserve the family. Some of the youth want music and torn jeans yet that is to be expected and ignored. American propaganda is concerned with the ‘individual’ and that is the intrinsic battle of both societies. Gender misappropiations, hormone treatments and all the other sexual variations are part of ‘individuality’ which is the philosophy of the ‘West’
Why?
Biologically it makes no sense yet for business and a purely commercially society it is a win, win. Businesses need to seperate individuals and their wants to profit. How may times have you said to someone ‘why the hell did you buy that?’
Once upon a time you would never purchase something unless it benefited the family or the community.
My hope is that Russia and China are on the same page regarding family and community.
Auslander
From what I have seen on the Internet, the imposed sanctions did not work. I believe that Crimea is seeing great reconstruction. One day I will come and visit it.
I am indeed coming this summer. It depends exactly on when my daughter gets out of work (she teaches). The plan is to rent a car in Krasnodar, get a room from there, and drive. Is that viable?
drb,
Yes.
Auslander
I may be overseeing some details or technicalities, and maybe it’s worth a topic in itself.
But dear Auslander, in this harsh sanction regime you describe (reminds me of the situation in Iran as described by Ramin Mazaheri, btw), doesn’t Crimea have an airport in Simferopol, a bridge connection directly to the RF (not sure whether the train connection is ready yet), an is located at the Black Sea?
In what way can the Ukies then ‘control’ that? Just curious.
Cheers, Rob
Rob, my friend,
I reiterate that what I posted was a small selection of the large numbers of sanctions against Sevastopol and Krimea (two entirely separate entities on the same island), all installed by foggy bottom and every country in europe and others, and these are in addition to the truly vast numbers of sanction actions from europe, usa, Nippon, Oz, NZ, SK and others on Rossiya. The orcs, they can’t do squat besides squeal like a stuck pig from dawn to well after dusk and fill their pampers in rage.
To the best of my knowledge there are no foreign commercial passenger planes flying in to aerodrome in Simferopol. No Russian State Railways commercial passenger stock of any kind crosses the bridge to and from Krimu. I do not know of freight stock but I’ve never seen any in the busy rail yards of Inkerman, which we pass by when going to southside. That does not mean they are not there, it just means I don’t see them.
On the other hand, everything electric in our house is Siemens. My car is German. If I need a new room light switch or a circuit breaker, I simply go to a particular store and purchase it off the shelf, new in the box and made in Germany. Any part I need for our little A Klasse I get within a few days, read three to five days if they are not in stock locally, and I use only Benz parts and not ‘Benz made in Poland or Italy’, I only accept parts made in Germany and I know how to tell the difference.
Sanctions are one thing, enforcing them is quite another, and sanctions are a two edged sword. For instance you can not get Massandrah or Inkerman wines and champagne, which for you is a vast tragedy but that forces us to consume those nectars from the gods made in Massandrah on south coast or Inkerman winery. It’s a dirty job but someone has to do it, and I’m enjoying a good glass of Massandrah Myskatelh Roseveh (Muskatel Rose) as I type. German white beer? All I want and flavored with local lemon slices grown in hothouses up the road a piece. As an aside, it infuriates the frogs that we have the nerve to put ‘champagne’ on the label of our local winery, and ‘champagne’ it is, best I’ve ever had, far better than any I ever had in Germany or Land of Frogs.
Don’t get me wrong, the sanctions are a royal pain in the nether regions and some are simply impossible. However, we live well in our little isolated piece of heaven. It’s colder than a mother in law’s kiss tonight, minus 6 C (quite cold for this berg) and a gentle zephyr of a breeze blasting up our kilts at 70 kph with a spit or two of snow. Our house is warm, the children have been fed well and are snoring away, the operation on our vocal little black girl Ye’katarina was done at the house a week ago and she has all the meds, IV fluids and sundries she needs. She will survive this serious surgery and live for some more years.
Kindest regards
Auslander
Persecution is an age old phenomenon, those persecuted generally get toughened. It leads them to develop their inner spiritual strengths which gives them a sense of hope and reason for living despite the terrible conditions of persecution.
I’m quite certain that the sanctions and reproach which the people of Krimea face will only make them stronger.
Dear Auslander,
thank you for your valuable comments, impressive as always! It is finally getting serious, and honestly I am somewhat glad about it, as a German that has long left. I want to express my respect for your work, “Never The Last One”, a novel that has gone straight to the heart and left a lasting impression on this German. I can echo the sentiment of one of the Germans in your novel, who said that “this was not his Germany anymore” (quoting from memory).
I do not believe that today`s German society can be taught what is wrong with their thinking other than through pain and hardship. We have not learned from our mistakes!! We will be sentenced to repeat them and suffer the consequences!!
As for Russia, may you do what you have to. You are in the right.
God bless you,
Gregor Wessels, Japan
Gregor,
Thank you for your compliments on my novel, I am pleased it made such an impression on you. I wrote what the German said in my novel as a way of remembering what it was like in Germany 30 and 40, even 50 years ago, back when we had the remains of Altes Deutschland, when my favorite stube in Freistaadt Bayern was still there. I will never forget, all the women, the barmaids, servers and locals, left at 20:00, and at 20:30 the old Konzernherr’s comrades from the war started to arrive. Many’s the nights we drank and talked until dawn…..a time gone now, never to return, and more’s the pity for that. I would not be alive today if it weren’t for what those old veterans taught me from their experiences, they were a tough group of real men, many of them with the scars of service. We can thank Mutti and her deep and never ending hatred of Germany for what has happened to our country, and I say ‘our’ because I am 100% ethnic German, my mother’s family from Pommern, my father’s from Freistaadt Bayern.
Auslander
auslander, what do you mean by that?
I couldnt dive into or investigate further, but do U mean that the Kerch strait bridge of 20 Km does not transport Russian – and elsewhere’s- products into Crimea? sorry for my ignorance on the matter, pls explain.
Augusto,
I did not say there was no transport on the bridge and no materials coming to Krimu and Sevastopol. I said there were no Russian State Railway passenger cars crossing the bridge to and from Krimu and this berg, I did not in any way say no passenger cars crossed the bridge. I did not say Russian State Railway freight cars did not come to Sevastopol, I simply said I did not see them in the Inkerman yards.
There is a steady stream 24/7 of trucks of every size crossing to and from Krim and Sevastopol and numerous daily trains doing same. I did not say nothing was coming to Krimu or Sevastopol, I listed a very small selection of the sanctions put on Sevastopol and Krimea by sehsha, eu, nippon, oz, sk, nz, canada and others. Trust me, we will never, ever forget what they have done, nor will we forgive. A pox on the lot of them.
Auslander
Hi Auslander, is it possible to buy your books through an outlet other that Amazon?
I refuse to buy anything through them.
All the best to you all in Crimea.

Yes, just go to my web site, there you can purchase them as listed, ebook, follow the link with my signature.
Thank you for your best wishes to us in our bucolic little island. Come what may, we generally do well.

Russia’s strategic patience is over. Never thought I’d hear the normally unflappable Mr Lavrov issue an ultimatum in such bare-knuckled terms. It is the diplomatic equivalent of donning military fatigues for a press conference. 2021 is going to be interesting indeed.
Indeed ! If Nordstream 2 get cancelled, we will see a landslide in politics – In the end Europe will be screwed a third time – if it’s that, what’s needed to wake them up, so be it – we should not forget who will be the victims on both side – it will start with a proxy war, most likely in the Middle East, as both sides don’t wanna confront each other directly and later Europe will be fully dragged in – this year, next year, who knows but it will happen
It means nothing. Russia needs both the US and EU. Cant survive without them.
@Cchessare
Facts elude you. But that is your job, posting nonsense. Truly pathetic effort.
@Cchessare
You do have a point if by Russia you mean Analny Navalny and the liberal scum. They wouldn’t survive for a month without Western bribery. Don’t confuse Russia’s vast majority with the Sorosyata, please.
If there’s one country on the planet that doesn’t need anyone it’s Russia.
This knock out punch by Lavrov the EU certainly did not expect, and after it sobers up, it will have discovered that a new moment has arrived. Russia is showing self respect and will not be intimidated. The EU will now have to chose if it will follow Washington’s neocon directives, or if it will act rationally and treat Russia as an equal partner.
If it obeys Washington, discord will appear inside the EU, whose member state trade with Russia, as well as invest in Russia. How many are prepared to terminate all contacts and lose additional revenues, bearing in mind that by the second half of 2016 EU countries lost, due to sanctions, 100 billion euros in trade, bitterly resented ?
I think that this is a master stroke by Lavrov. What in fact he has done is tell Brussels to chose between Washington’s interests and those of EU member states. Should it back Washington, it will start looking into the dissipation of the EU. The EU response is going to be very interesting.
I think there are essentially 2 scenarios.
In the first one the EU will say that this is an aggressive statement and that the EU needs to show unity and resolve against Russia which refuses to improve bilateral relations. The neocon strategy will apply. It s a possibility because the EU is ruled by morons.
It the second one the EU will decide to apply some sanctions which won’t have any impact on the russian economy and thus won’t trigger any significant response from Russia. Something like “saving face sanctions” which will lead to a status quo. It s a possibility because the EU is ruled by morons who love money and like you said business is business.
In 10 days we will know which path the EU has decided to choose.
“in the first one the EU will say that this is an aggressive statement and that the EU needs to show unity and resolve against Russia “
You see. Here’s the thing. I dont’ think Russia cares one iota what the EU says or does.
If it comes to its senses and offers an adult dialogue – fine. Moscow is good with that.
If not – not.
My overall feeling, as Lavrov walks out of the talks, with the EU saying “we refuse to bow to your requests” or anything else is of him saying over his shoulder:
“Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn”. Walks away into a mist filled distance.
I agree.
Relations between Russia and the EU can only further deteriorate.
What I am saying is the EU will choose the pace. It depends on the sanctions the EU will impose in 10 days.
Laurent
“In 10 days we will know which path the EU has decided to choose”. Yes, pretty soon we shall see that path. However, should the EU go against Russia, then we shall see what the individual response of EU members is going to be, especially that of Germany and France.
Germany will even go that far to stop NS2
Merkel is 16 years in power and working these years only to destroy Germany
She definitely won’t stop doing this now
And France… I refuse to write anything about this misery
no one will stop construction, much less the German government
explanation – “Nord Stream-2” is a completely commercial project, the German government has not invested a cent in it, the companies participating in the project have stated that they are ready to go to court if the project is stopped due to lost profits, and most likely they will win it and receive compensation. I do not know how politicians will explain to their voters that public money will go to private companies.
sorry for google translator
I have impression that Russia does not care too much about NS2…not any more
They are really annoyed and tired of western idiotic provocations and stupidities.
Mike
What Merkel’s plans are is of no importance. What is important is what German industrialists want and decide, and not Merkel. Do you really believe that these industrialists want to see Germany pay double for imported US gas, whose supply is questionable ? Do you really believe they want to turn their backs on Russia when trade is in question ?
When the US introduced sanctions, some 500 German industrialists went to Russia to negotiate trade, opening subsidiaries. You are of course familiar with what Mercedes has done in Russia. Merkel could not prevent this.
Bf I am all with you on that comment. Your last sentence though; I have seen nothing that would lead to a suspicion of Merkel wanting to stop NS2, it is mostly brain dead rhetoric from US paid schill politicians. Merkel has her foundations in “Real-politik” which can be cynical at times but in this sense she is much like V.Putin.
The last thing that A. Merkel ever would do is hurt Germanys fabled industry.
Merkels foundation was her job in the DDR as officer for agitation and propaganda for the communist youth organization Free German Youth (FDJ) she was called IM Erika
She destroyes Germany since 16 years
And she is very successful
Then it is about time Russia should build submarine-trucks.
For instance connection from Russian mainland to Russian Crimea?
I can tell you right now
The eu [Europas Untergang] morrons will
follow the orders from the usa
They will impose more sanctions and its not important if these sanctions will hurt or not
Sanctions based on pure evil lies are not acceptable anymore for Russia
The consequences of these suicide actions will be seen in the near future
Russia was patient and build their relations with China in the last 6 years to a much higher level
Worst case scenario is that the usrael cabal will be successful in pushing Europe into a war with Russia
And seeing the level of stupidity in the eu its not impossible
And that would mean end of story
”Worst case scenario is that the usrael cabal will be successful in pushing Europe into a war with Russia. And seeing the level of stupidity in the eu it’s not impossible”.
Only too true. Most notably, the reputable greedy hyena will be very ready to take action for the Greater Good of Latin Christianity, only to find out it wasn’t such a good idea. Russia should just unceremoniously nuke the Euro-trash. I think Lavrov is beginning to realize the inevitable.
And yet an Orthodox Christian nation like Russia, much less her Orthodox Christian president Putin, has not done that yet. Gee, I wonder why…
@Digby
Strictly speaking, it’s because the degenerates in charge of the US and the EU haven’t dared attack Russia by nuclear weapons. Stalin and Soviet nuclear physicist Kurchatov stopped them in their tracks way back in 1949. One could say that the Anglo-Americans botched the opportunity they had during four years to turn the USSR into uninhabitable nuclear wasteland without having to risk a nuclear response. Indeed, when the USSR went nuclear, it meant that the drooling, insane criminal Douglas MacArthur had to be let down when he wanted real badly to nuke China during the Korean war. Even a solid, hard-core, gung-ho, effing reactionary like Truman was able to grasp the risks involved.
But today, as US imperialism has entered its phase of terminal prolapse, it means that all bets are off. Today, MacArthur’s — personal — insanity is more ingrained into the political superstructures of the US than ever before with the EU vassals adopting accordingly. I would not put it past Putin, Lavrov, and Shoygu to be seriously contemplating whether a Russian first strike could actually serve Russia’s cause. What’s irrefutable is that her foes deserve it, QED.
“One could say that the Anglo-Americans botched the opportunity they had during four years to turn the USSR into uninhabitable nuclear wasteland without having to risk a nuclear ”
They would have not nucked USSR back then. There were over 3 million Jews living in the Soviet Union, mostly in the large cities which would have been the subject the a USA nuclear attack. Jews never bomb other Jews. Right now the issue is entirely different with the Jewish population having moved to Israel,USA, Canada and elsewhere in the western world. That restraining factor is no longer there, hence the risk of nuclear exchange is much greater now that it ever was during the cold war years.
@Maltus.
Your opinion on US plans for nuclear attack on the USSR is comprehensively incorrect.
Please see:
US plans to newk USSR
https://nsarchive2.gwu.edu/nukevault/ebb538-Cold-War-Nuclear-Target-List-Declassified-First-Ever/
U.S. Cold War Nuclear Target Lists Declassified for First Time
According to 1956 Plan, H-Bombs were to be Used Against Priority “Air Power” Targets in the Soviet Union, China, and Eastern Europe
Major Cities in Soviet Bloc, Including East Berlin, Were High Priorities in “Systematic Destruction” for Atomic Bombings
Plans to Target People (“Population”) Violated International Legal Norms
SAC Wanted a 60 Megaton Bomb, Equivalent to over 4,000 Hiroshima Atomic Weapons.
Washington, D.C., December 22, 2015 – The SAC [Strategic Air Command] Atomic Weapons Requirements Study for 1959, produced in June 1956 and published today for the first time by the National Security Archive http://www.nsarchive.org, provides the most comprehensive and detailed list of nuclear targets and target systems that has ever been declassified. As far as can be told, no comparable document has ever been declassified for any period of Cold War history.
(Conts)
@Nussiminen
I see what you mean.
Just in case you were wondering, my original question was supposed to be sarcastic. The assumption was that Putin is smart enough to know the sanctity of human life better than the post-Christian Western elites. That is, and I could be misinterpreting your quip about ‘unceremoniously nuking the Euro-trash’, but I wouldn’t believe for a second that Putin, Lavrov or anyone else at the Kremlin would intentionally harm the civilians in the EU member states whose rights have been violated by the actions of said elites.
Just small remark:
Having nukes directly after the end of WW2 and having the possibility to deliver them to the target are very different things.
In the end of WWII Soviet was a formidable military force that would roll through the most of the rest of the Europe without any larger problem (in August 1945 during just over the 3 weeks it completely destroyed all Japanize forces numbering 1 million occupying Kina https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet%E2%80%93Japanese_War).
Soviet was at a peak compared to the West and (I didn’t know that until just a few months ago) they (Soviet+Yugoslav against west) had at least two air battles over Yugoslavia one in the south of Serbia in 1944 when “alias” deliberately bombed the Russian column in the vicinity of the Nis which was chasing Germans.
Despite German forces far away, radio warnings, warnings from the fighter jets that were sent for support they continued bombing the column.
This is the monument for the Russian pilots killed in the battle:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_battle_over_Ni%C5%A1
The other battle was in Slovenia at a time part of the Yugoslavia.
So nuking Japan with completely destroyed military and air force and bombing inner Russia or Russian forces in direct contact with west forces would be almost impossible.
Besides, I believe that Russians would burn to the ground any European country participating as an ally in the (attempt of) nuking Russia.
The Number of operational nukes USA had in the end of the 1940-is could be probably counted on two hands.
So I believe the risk of trying to successfully nuke and turn the USSR into uninhabitable nuclear wasteland at a time was minimal.
What is Euro-trash? I don’t lay awake from EU leadership loosing their power and or life but the local people?
In the end it is mostly the same, it is the local people that suffer. I am not saying that the local people are completely innocent. Most of them are under the spell of the dark magisters and cheer the idiocy on.
But aren’t we on this forum because we are more aware and on various stages of awarenes. At least beyond just lets “nuke em”!
Try explain that to Gównopolska, the country of the world’s most underrated Latin Christians, forever ready to come to the rescue of the great and glorious West.
“Worst case scenario is that the usrael cabal will be successful in pushing Europe into a war with Russia”
Let me talk for Germany only, my question is: with what?
Our beloved and by fair elections chosen (?) leader Ursula von der Leyen has been our Defense Minister. She left a total mess, only a few ships of our Navy are operational, our planes are old, and we don’t even have proper guns, so we are literally ‘the gang that couldn’t shoot straight’.
We may be led by idiots, there are still some sane people around. We, as ordinary people, are fed up with our leaders being the poodle of DC. Somewhere in a former Saker thread I read in a comment that ‘Germans are anti-Russia’. Based on what? Let me assure you that I have to meet the first regular German that is anti-Russia.
Let me also assure you, that the German industry has lost about 30% of their orders due to ‘sanctions’ and they are fuming. When Merkel moves to get NS2 stopped she is toast, and her party too.
Cheers, Rob
@Rob
You are too optimistic. We have not come that far into a blind gate to turn around onto the right path by fuming industrialists. 25% of Germans vote Grüne, clima bs, and are running to take the shot.
Ursula von Leyen is not there for fun. She is there because a majority of stupid sheeple elected her, and these sheeple will continue to pull everything down.
A little deviation but relevant to the global effect in a holistic analysis.
Iran is also preparing for warfare conditions – both kinetic and economic – in 2021 with the talk of electing a president with military background who is trained to think warlike. The Principlist camp whom are the most likely to win the presidential election are already digging in for a long term confrontation with the empire and it’s minions both at the regional and international level.
They’re planning to sign agreements with Russia, China and other Eurasia and resistant nations on a mutually beneficial basis, they are orientated towards the economy of resistance with a focus on internal strength which is already given Iran immunity against the economic siege. Nothing like JCPOA again at least for the foreseeable future. Though the empire haven’t realized it’s in no position to dictate terms anymore and need a rude awakening to bring her back to planet earth.
The visits by Iran Speaker of parliament to Russia – a likely candidate for president – and Iran Chief Justice to Iraq – a likely candidate for the leadership position in the future – both belonging to Principlist camp can be seen in the light of this new realities on the ground.
2021 will be the year of Eurasia integrationists especially in Russia and Iran. For China yes, but not on the same par with Russia and Iran as the Chinese economic development and that of the empire as become more dependent on each other borne out of stone cold reality and are markets too big and important for both party to isolate each other. A obvious lose lose proposition which both sides wants to avoid.
……If we once again see, as we have already felt more than once,…..Hollywood calling.
There is a proverb among Serbs … I call him to enter the house, but I pray to God that he does not enter…..or another ….. please hold me back from beating him.
These statements are used for internal use in order for the regime under the patronage of Kudrin-Sreder’s atlantist assistants to show the attitude and character before the Russian people who are being robbed and lied to so many years. But it will not pass, the real contraRevolution and statehood are coming to Russia. When the bear comes out of the cave, the wolves in the Balkans also will. Long live Russia, long live Serbia
djole
What on earth are you talking about ? Are you talking about Yeltsins Russia, or Putins Russia ? The Russian people being “robbed” and “lied to for so many years” ? Yes, the Russian people were indeed robbed during Yeltsin rule. In fact Russia was looted to the sum of 100 billion dollars a year by Western banks, corporations and domestic oligarchs. When Putin arrived, all this was terminated, enabling Russia to return to her natural status of a world power. A counter revolution in Russia ? By whom and against whom ? Against Putin ? I think not. If you are talking about the return of the monarchy, then yes, it will happen. However, it will not happen overnight, this being a slow, natural process, which will happen quietly.
You are protected here, you can write what you want. I can not. Yugoslavs are protected by Saker, Vucic’s and Milosevic’s internationalists but Serbs nationalists not. Feel free to yell but on the end the same thing that awaits the Mercedes version of the fraudster, awaits the Yugo version in Serbia. There was a lot of running away during the false perestroika with the clown actor, but now the Trotskyists and Nazis will probably press them and they will have to react, whether they want to or not. Don’t forget the Israelis in the Middle East. Jews do not care whether Putin and Biden sign agreements or not.
djole
Not even a university professor would be able to understand what you have just written.
I also am not understanding your meaning. I agree that Israel seems to be the boss-man of Russia and USA…if that’s what you meant ? Russia is obviously doing 100% better than before Putin. But Israelis are Russian, so he’s their servant. He’s admitted as much. And now he’s pressuring Assad to make amends with Israel. That’s a bummer. The Perestroika was a western trick – but Russia is not playing the door mat to Europe and US now. That’s a good thing….even if only for clarity and justice.
“But Israelis are Russian, so he’s their servant. He’s admitted as much. :
Im sorry. Is the “he” to whom you refer here Putin?
Are you seriously saying that Russia is under Israels thumb and Putin has said as much.
Please forgive my complete and utter cynicism – -but if Putin has said as much – link please. Evidence.
Otherwise, I say utter BS>
Pamela – There may well be an Israeli thumb that Putin must deal with. Approximately 20% of Israeli residents were born in Russia but are now living in Israel. These Russian Jews certainly watch and weigh all of Putin’s and Lavrov’s actions. Although they don’t (as far as I know) have a vote in Russian elections, from Israel they can decide to take action in either pro-Russian or anti-Russian directions.
As if that weren’t enough, I’d wager that the majority of Russian oligarchs (the captains of industry) are Jewish. If that’s not a thumb that Putin has to deal with, I don’t know what is.
Bottom line, to get a full understanding of the forces that shape Putin and Russia’s foreign and domestic policy decisions, it is absolutely necessary to understand the political forces exerted by both the Israeli Jews and the Russian Jewish oligarchs.
One more example… Israel uses it’s Air Force to attack Russian-supported Syria on a weekly basis. Syrian skies are defended by a Russian-supplied and Russian-manned anti-aircraft defense network. Question: How many Israeli attack aircraft has Russia shot down during these Israeli attacks on Syria? Answer: Zero (or maybe one if you count the aircraft shot down by an antiquated Syrian SS-200 system a few years back before Russian integrated the entire Syrian air defense network.
Russia has to play nice with Israel, they might cause trouble for Russians in Ukraine.
The more I hear about Shylock the more I feel Shakespeare may have been on to something!
Shylock — “The Jew of Venice” — was used by Venetian private and state Kapital (moneyed interests) as a pawn: Since he was not a Christian, he was not forbidden from lending out money for interest (i.e., usury). He had not all that much wealth himself, there where he lived in the Ghetto.
The Venetians had a favorite saying that they still celebrate and repeat ad nusaem: “Primo son venetan, secundo cristian” (First of all I am Venetian, only secondly a Christian).
I fear Shakespeare was correct regarding the morality of Jews. So are Russian Jewish oligarchs blackmailing Putin?
Perhaps a morality based on money and a prediliction for a corruption of human beings that Epistein or de Sade would embrace says little for the future of our children.
A reconing is needed. Is the Jewish predeliction for money over morals to be our future? The Jews may have well produced some of humaities greatest philosophers and scientists yet do they consider other humans to be of a lesser calibre?
In Israel they sure do.
Remembering that in such regard they created a situation in Germany in 1941 that many folk resented and today much of the world is moving in the same direction that Germany did in 41. Again … Shakespeare.

djole, have you EVER read what I had to say about Vucic or Milosevich?
Clearly you have not.
So why lie about me?
The Saker
Why not before and earlier????
Probably Russia was not economically strong and self-sufficient enough .
Probably Russians think that they are now strong and selsufficient enough.
I hope they are.
We will see
But the game has changed …certainly
Bosnian Croat
Yes, the game has changed. Lavrov has told the EU to chose between Washington and Russia. No, it does not means that the EU has to terminate all economic contacts with the US. Far from it. It means it has to terminate Washington’s neocon policy towards Russia, based on political aggression and sanctions. We shall now see what will happen.
Nothing will happen
EU is firmly under US control.
Russia can try to go into bilateral relations with every EU country separately …but will it work, we will see
But EU is useless
Cold War 2 : Possible senarios of a new cold war with Russia. Examining the differences of both societies and the inequalities that may come into play, Here is my short video on what is possible.

Its NorthStream !
They thought they could play nice with the Eu and north stream would finish. Putin probably still believed that the EU would wake up and split from the USA.
They were terribly naive and still are. Its actually been embarrassing to watch
I think you have a very naive picture of how political power in Russia is working.
Putin is a very strong, highly intelligent and charismatic person, but he has surrounded himself with very capable associates like Shoygu and Lavrov. There are several expert advisory groups, different security agency that prepare materials and take care of (detailed) implementation of his visions and long term strategies.
Those communications aren’t one-way roads, but flow goes in either directions.
Most decisions are made based on thorough analyses, and I’m certain that they calculate probabilities for all possible outcomes where decisions are made based on those predictions.
Situation is constantly evaluated and steps adjusted accordingly where at some point they may change direction completely based on new information or outcomes.
This is probably one of those crossroads where they have estimated probability for a more plausible outcome has become so low that new direction is necessary.
Detailed plans for a such (contingency) decision has existed probably for 5 to 10 years possibly even more.
Though “good cop”? Peskov says possibilities of diplomacy still exist and says there was some mistranslation out of context issue by western interpreters/ press( which comes across to me as some kind of embaressed apology….strange?) ….chances are EU will be left to discover its own sad collective insanity…… Italy Hungary Austria might go their own way….Visegrad 4 always seemed to be a bit a bit of a mismatch collection at risk countries whose individual policies are exposed to risk of failure ……..so might lose its cohesion and split the group….won’t bother me.
It is about time after six years of capitulations/humiliations on almost all fronts.Enough is enough. But don’t worry Eurocrats have no balls they will surrender. But if they dare to go ahead with their sanctions(illegal, acts of war).I would stop to recognize the EU as an entity(this is not a country).Expel all diplomats(spys for some),and declare that RF will continue to deal only on a bilateral way with the countries who want so.Big trap for the baltics, Poland,Roumania,Bulgaria…and Germany + France.
After BREXIT, time for RUSEXIT.
On the surrender thing I would tell you that you should never underestimate the blindness of the people ruling the EU.
Their ideology is stronger than anything.
IMO EU is the political wing of NATO INC..
When we think on, US INC. is bankrupt and closed since Febr. 2020 means NATO INC. is hanging somewhere in between.
As I understand at the moment in D.C. there is no Federal Government while US INC. does not exist anymore.
IMO what Mr Biden (if he is still on this planet) and his associates are doing is running theater in Hollywood or in the area, real theater. He is not president, he is not even president-elect.
Everything is show which means IMO treason.
If EU is carrying out “orders” given by Master Biden then it won’t take long and EU might start to crumble till only a cloud of dark smoke is left. This is all Hot Air! Illegal!
From then on Europe will be able restart rebuilding peacefully their own nation to start from the situation 1945.
And several european nations have their chance to brake up their NAZI-contract made in 1940/1941 with Chancellor Mr Hitler.
Then GESARA will be activated and coordinated by Russia for the world, except for The Republic of the United States of America. They will have NESARA coordinated by the Republic of the USA.
That is what I understand is going to happen soon. For all of us.
Have faith, people, Trust The Man not The Plan! (Simon Parks).
The Eurocrats do not answer to the peoples of Europe. They answer to their US overlords. Yes, they are likely to surrender to the overlords, as they always do.
The only solution is for individual countries in Europe to ignore Brussels and establish a sensible relation with Russia.
The death of EU cannot come too soon.
Fully agree.
Though most of my acquantainces accept the EU as a welcome inevitable utopia, fearing without it the “continent” would be a bunch of unrelated fourth-rate countries, some among us do know better than accepting Maastricht and Lisbon cancel propaganda and ANZ submission. The EU can not survive forever as it is nothing more than a fake artificial construct by London City russophobic heartland-hater Synarchs, with absolutely no ties to cultural European roots. Let’s just hope the bad decades until full integration with Eurasia as tolerated associates on parole will not be too bad; but there’s no way we can now legally and peacefully get rid of that bad joke called the EU which was “voted” by a tight majority of ignorant citizenry; no single political party (afaik in Spain, I suppose it is the same in the other EU minion countries) clearly states getting out of the EU in its programs.
Basically what Nuland said..,
good observation – yes that snake is back. But Russia deals with her now.
Ironically, and in the original context in which she said that during the Ukraine coup d’etat in 2014:
https://original.antiwar.com/Rick_Sterling/2021/02/10/why-victoria-nuland-is-dangerous-and-should-not-be-confirmed/
I even raised this point on another website and got a similar answer.
The EU may be a rotten entity, I’ll give the next person that, but I can’t understand why people give Nuland credit for what she said there. If anything it showed how little she cared (cares?) for any opinions of the USA’s vassals, or at least the opinions that did not align with those of the USA proper.
@joey_n
Not cares, but despise. Nuland and the neocons despise EU because of their arse licking poodle mentality toward US. A few US cookies and the Europeans jumps up and down and dance around on two legs.
History after Ukraine proved her right. There is no bottom limit to which the Europeans will not go to maintain their welfare check from Washington and Wall Street.
@Tomsen,
Just to be sure, you did read the article, didn’t you?
The impression I get, and I may be wrong, is that the EU had some second thoughts and decided it wasn’t completely on board with the USA’s plans.
If the EU went whole-hog with the USA’s coup in Ukraine, would she have thrown the F-bomb* as she did?
(* For which she was forced to apologize)
If the neocons didn’t want the EU to be so sycophantic to the US, then they would not be encouraging the EU nations to e.g. increase their defense spending against a threat that doesn’t exist, nor would they be sabotaging Nord Stream II.
@joey_n
Difficult to follow you. EU went whole-hog with US in everything not only Ukraine.
The reason why Nuland threw the f… EU was that both Russia and Ukraine thought EU/Europe had an independent opinion at that time and asked Nuland what the EU would say.
First later Putin m.m. realized that EU was a complete lame duck to US.
The urge of defence spending is of military strategic value for US/Nato and it is not against a threat. Its to conquer anybody and everybody (Full Spectrum Global…..etc).
@Tomsen
Well, dang.
That certainly paints a different picture from what was said at the discussion I linked on my previous comment (i.e. that the EU wanted to hold new elections, and Nuland screamed ‘F*** the EU’ because she was too impatient for that).
I wonder what the reaction in Germany would be if the Russians said something like: ‘If you don’t want the gas, fine’.
The country that needs Nord Stream 2 … is Germany. Germany has crippled itself with its mad ‘Energiewende’. It’s a cold snowy Winter this year, and the coal plants are running flat out at 100% to keep the lights and heat on, because wind and solar are producing ZERO watts at the moment. A few more shutdowns of coal plants and no new methane plants, and the next time the weather does not cooperate, there will be a blackout in Berlin.
Climate Change is a hoax.
The eAutomobiles is a hoax. Covid is a hoax.
These above are all wishes of Klaus Reset with his gang to change the way we live will not hold.
He already lost the plot.
FM Lavrov and Mrs Zakarova have my utmost respect for their professional handling against in all kinds of nasty western attacks and dirty tricks.
I think I can understand FM’s firm statement(s) to this EU-firma.
The Alliance is quite busy to clean up the world with guests like him and others.
Keep your mind and eyes open. History is being written before your very eyes.
GESARA/NESARA is coming, maybe sooner than we expect.
Peace.
Let’s not forget excess deaths of 2020. Almost 500,000 in US. Around 320,000 in Russia. Around 100,000 in UK and Italy both. Reasons are what they are (direct or indirect of pandemia). Maths never lied, explanations did.
Not all countries have excess deaths
Also consider due to the restrictions because of Corona many die because they won’t get necessary operations and treatments
Akso suicide rates went up significantly
You can not trust anything that comes from government or the media liars
Maths don’t lie… But governments and media lie to the bones
@Matias: “Maths never lied”.
But, as Stalin famously said, the count depends on the counters. Still, assuming that mortality counters were truthful in all 4 countries, the Russian result is interesting because it shows a sudden 2% increase in Death Rate per Million Population (from 12 to 14) after 17 years of steady decline in Russian death rate under Putin down to 12 from the high 16 of the Yeltsin years (“The years that the Locust hath eaten”).
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1089615/russia-death-rate/
The same graph shows that the Lowest Annual Death Rates 7 to 10 occurred around 1960 under the USSR.
Vote Communist in the next election.
Certainly in the US and likely in other countries, birth rates rose sharply after the end of WW II and continued through the 1950’s (i.e. the “baby boom”). Those folks are now reaching the end of their natural lives hence the rising mortality numbers. That rather significant effect needs to be factored out before drawing any conclusions about the impact of Covid but it seems fashionable in the media to ignore facts that contradict the narrative.
Nonsense. It is nothing but lies. Excess deaths is a meaningless stat. They shutdown the healthcare system and murdered the old and infirm. Scared the living shit out of people. After a year I still dont know one person who has died. Some pandemic.
This is completely off topic. Further comments along this thread, posted to this article will be trashed, mod
You may want to inform yourself a bit better about the Corona Scam.
German lawyers sue the World over Corona Virus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpOzHHJmy7g
If the current N court proceedings had been videoed and could be played to EU to expose the utter nastiness of N….might make them think about continuing to threaten sanctions because of him……?
john helmer:
” ?….in the following hours, Alexei Navalny repeatedly called Ignat Artemenko a ‘doll’ who ‘does not understand anything’ and who is ‘traded’ by his family. He said that ‘his relatives will strangle him tonight.’ And when the veteran’s grandson asked the blogger to ‘remain a man’ during the testimony, Navalny’s response included shouting that ‘the only problem with your grandfather is that he raised a grandson who is a prostitute.’ For the elderly man who participated in the trial remotely from home, all this turned out to be too much, and he had to call an ambulance. Against this background, Navalny’s constant shift into shouting, rolling into hysterics, bickering with the court, and insulting other participants in the process look like trifles. Although at some point, the judge, unable to stand the circus, gave five minutes to the lawyers to ‘bring the defendant to his senses’, since ‘there is no longer any possibility to tolerate this’. The defendant’s behaviour shocked even the distinctly ‘pro-carnival’ media, many of which were forced to replace the direct speech of their leader online with the phrases ‘shouting at each other’ or ‘a skirmish begins’. The public interested in politics is currently excitedly discussing the possible reasons for this frankly inadequate show — raising questions about the mental health and behaviour of the man who is called ‘the main Russian opposition leader’. However, this is no longer so important. The main result of today was the public elimination of Alexei Navalny himself as a socio-political figure, as well as dealing a fatal blow to his own organisation and to the Russian anti-state opposition in general. After the ‘performance’, the blogger loses the remnants of his already small public support. No, of course, someone — quite radically frostbitten — will still remain. But by doing so, they will spread to themselves something monstrous in its immorality and inhumanity, which looked out today from under the usual cosmetically perfect mask of the opposition — ”

Lavrov also pursues the q of the “poisoning” by
MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. Russia will send an official inquiry to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the wake of an open letter by scientist Vitaly Kozak who analyzed blogger Alexey Navalny’s case from the viewpoint of medicine and chemistry, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday. “We are sending an official inquiry to the OPCW, Germany, France and Sweden literally today with a request to comment on the conclusions he made after familiarizing himself with the publications that substantiate and analyze what happened to Alexey Navalny, those biomaterials that were obtained from him and analyzed in the West,” Lavrov said in an interview with anchor Vladimir Solovyov on the Solovyov-Live YouTube channel. “He as a scientist puts forward some questions related to biological and chemical science,” Russia’s top diplomat said.”
Wonder what was in the Kozak letter….anyone know?
Clearly OPCW did not respond to this request back in
MOSCOW, September 7. /TASS/. Joint work of Russian experts and their colleagues from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) can help to create depoliticized cooperation in Alexey Navalny’s case, Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday…..”
Where
Moscow is set to provide OPCW member states with a timeline of behind-the-scene manipulations in the Navalny affair……
And how!
If Russians expect any positive and constructive answer from American vessels, then they wont. (Mod)..
I mean VASSALS
WOW, I never thought Mr Lavrov would play “bad cop.” It would have been even better if Minister Lavrov made the statement in plain English, so there’s absolutely zero ambiguity. Perhaps that time is coming soon?
“t would have been even better if Minister Lavrov made the statement in plain English, ”
I think he thinks it’s absolutely fine made in plain Russian Dick.
Up to you how to manage to interpret it :-)
No need to make it in English. They understood it immediately and are ‘disconcerted’.
I’m not sure if you or anyone else has picked this up, but there are allegations that Lavrov’s words were misinterpreted by the media.

Make of these what you will.
Thank you joey_n.
IMHO, this is the key message Mr. Lavrov sent to the EU: “Collectively, [the EU] is still our largest trading and investment partner. Many companies are working here. There are hundreds, thousands of joint ventures. If business is mutually beneficial, we will continue it.”
EU’s economies have already cratered. Trade goes both ways. (Note the word “collectively.”) I’m sure CEO of Daimler Benz (and other German companies) got the message. Ole may visit Mutti soon to tell her that “we may be up the creek without the paddle soon, if we don’t stop this nonsense.”
I’m curious what Russia’s next move may be. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next message goes to Washington.
I don’t know how media twisted out of context these things, but I trust they made a mess out of it.
Lavrov’s message seems clear to me. Even if it is strong (and it is), it’s quite clear that this is meant as Russia having preparedness for an extreme case and that severing relationships is not something impossible to happen, even if unlikely, depending on the behavior of the “partners”, but it isn’t something that Russia explicitly seeks. Actually, this is nothing new, since Russia’s behavior and softer words were clearly declaring that since at least 2014, if not even before. This is simply spelling it out for the thick skulls, so even they may (hopefully) understand it.
I find more interesting the word “If you want peace, prepare for war,” even if it is a cliche in a way. Russia is recognizing and is fully prepared for attacks of a military grade and will fight that war. These attacks may be less kinetic and almost entirely in the subversion field (which is a war), but clearly Russia will make them pay for that war.
This is not about dominance, punishment, or judgement, but about a reasonable response. We cannot rejoice in the suffering of others and our goal is not to cause suffering per se. It wouldn’t be a wise and healthy response to dehumanize other people because they dehumanize us. That after all is their business and we decide for ourselves not by reacting primitively but by following our own conscience. If they hate us, that’s their problem, we don’t need to hate them, because one can render his own sovereign choice to not hate, independently of the other party’s decisions.
What actually Lavrov implied was that EU must wake up from its delusions that Russia ‘needs’ Europe and can’t do without.
USA and West want to take Russia and to colonize it.
I do not know, but young Russian generation between 18 and 25, maybe even 30 is a great problem for Russia
I talked to many of them. The most of them are obsessed with the West and they do not like Putin and Russian Government
To them, Putin is the obstacle that prevent them to achieve western quality of life, the life as they see and imagine it
They are in huge percentage brainwashed by Hollywood and Western propaganda.
It is very dangerous for Russia and they have to do something about it.
Russia needs to start producing products comparable or even superior to that made by the West. Start creating top quality iPad alternatives, Russian sports cars, jeans, etc that young Russians want buy. Look at what Huawei has achieved in China with it’s smartphones.
Yes, you are right
And movies better than stupid Hollywood ones, and music that would be listened outside of Russia
They have to develop fancy mass culture which will turn russian youth from the West
To finish National Projects as planned especially infrastructure
And the most important – to rise life standard to he West level.
The great reset simply brings down the “western lifestyle “… controlled demolition of western society .
Russians are doing it already.

Then there’s the lovely t.A.T.u. Great stuff happens when Russia and the West become friends. All it takes is to abandon the MSM, and in the same breath find that Western culture is not at all declining. It is thriving like never before.
Yes, I see your point
Look, it is useless to ban western mass culture
Then you create “forbidden fruit syndrome”
Communists tried that and that syndrome destroyed USSR and socialism.
Russia MUST NOT isolate itself. Yes, the West rules in many aspects you cannot avoid that
You must not ban anything …and Russians must be able to have everything to be available to them
By the way many aspects of Western mass culture are great
Just to mention The Beatles Pink Floyd or Deep Purple for example
Or many great films …art…books and novels
No, self isolation is deadly dangerous and Russians are European people despite to hatred from political West
It is not point to ban western culture, but to compete and to be good, to be better … to make your original culture popular worldwide
And if you adopt any mass culture from the West, it is absolutely OK to adopt it, to make it better, to add taste of your own culture in it.
And to make russian mass culture, original or adopted, popular internationally
Sounds impossible, but it is not
I remember when I was 20 … middle eighties, some russian excursion visited Sarajevo where I was born and lived, Yugoslavia still existed.
I was bored and went with my girlfriend to local cinema to watch one American movie.
The cinema was full of Russians. They come in huge number to watch AMERICAN MOVIE
I laughed it was funny, movie was boring but they wanted to see American film
I was young but I realized that USSR will be in great trouble if they do not open the country to western mass culture.
Russia has great cultural tradition and they can influence the world so their youth to be proud on their culture and influence and popularity in the world, not to be too much fascinated and obsessed with foreign
But I am not sure that rulers and strategists of Russia are aware of the SOFT POWER importance.
You need own tools, machinery, and above all – a mindset, that Russia lacks since … long long time.
I will bet that the ‘dissatisfied’ youth are from well off families.
Someone needs to point out that if they join the West, they will have to live like Ukrainians. . .
Soft Power is extremely important
That is How USA win hearts and minds of young generations worldwide.
And they are not stupid…
“If you want peace, prepare for war“
This is confusing. First, it would make sense if he said, if you want war, prepare for war.
Secondly, is he being euphemistic or does he mean a hot war?
Just very strange coming from the ultimate diplomat.
I think he means you must be strong enough to deter and foil any aggressive plans of ‘partners’.
Confusion is in your head. ‘Si vis pacem, para bellum’ is a classic Latin dictum which is a short for “Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum (“Therefore let him who desires peace get ready for war.”). The idea which it conveys, and which is as old as Plato and Chinese wise men, is clear: ”You want war when we want peace, but don’t be foolish to believing that we are going to let you make war on us unpunished, because you must not delude yourself that we are not are prepared for it”. The collective ‘West’ lives with the dangerous delusion that Russia is not ‘prepared’ to withstand their bluster (they didn’t learn nuthin from having their asses kicked so many times). There is nothing strange ‘coming from the ultimate diplomat’. It is a clear, unmistakable warning to morons to mind their business and stop making fools of themselves.
Diplomats NEVER use the word “war” in the open.
Someone wrote here, “Lavrov is beginning to realize the inevitable”.
Yes, he does.
There still will be lots of forward and backward moves, but in the end of the day the world will keep marching through disaster. Thing have just gone too far.
It’s not about “if” anymore, but “when”.
I believe the Russians are not surprised. They knew this world eventually happen. And they got prepared themselves, the best they could.
So let’s also prepare ourselves.
@Ruben
Lavrov said that, because he knew the Tsar bombs will be pulled out from its dusty basements and that Russia will need to make the first global nuclear pre-emptive strike against Mordor and all the Orc armies concentrated around the globe, and that nobody can do a shit about it.
Lavrov’s statement must be viewed in the context of Putin’s speech at Davos. The West, including Europe and the U.S., is under the thrall of the financial elite fronted by the WEF, IMF, World Bank, elements of the UN, and other organizations. While Russian leadership was hopeful that nationalistic elements in Europe could shake-off the shackles of the Western financial elite, recent events (COVID-19, Great Reset push) have forced Russian leadership to separate themselves from the West for the sake of their own people.
Observation : the German “flagship” newspaper – the FAZ – has no report of the Lavrov statement, nor the Bloomberg, I did not look at other outfits – and would like to hear from the commenters if they observe the silence in the other media. Why the lack of reporting? Is it a concerted effort to keep the population ignorant about it?
Yes it seams they don’t want to report a lot of this information
Instead Corona is all over the covers
CORONA for ever
Dark future in front of us
It seams Orwells 1984 was just a child book…

The Media = Weapon of Mass Distraction
There are many echos of the Borell visit in Russia.
It has been described as a failure and humiliation for Borell and EU.
The message has been received I think by those who matter.
About the MSM: it is NATO intelligence controlled narrative and globalist mouthpiece. Who still really care about the utter nonsense they convey ?
The Belgian (flemisch state tv) tv mentioned it, I asked my wife this evening if she heard anything on the french news here: nothing.
Not on state tv (antenne 2), not on the stata radio.
Had a quick search on french online media:nothing!
I think that all these developments took an accelerated pace after Putin´s speech at Davos ( telematic session ) in which he underlined a real social-democratic proyect which at this point, wholly contradict the plans of TPTB in the West.
The Kremlin, and its associates are clearly testing to what extend the West is willing to, now, openly support a clearly nazi agenda.
The coup in the Ukraine, along the nazi character of its junta, got mostly covered before the eyes of the average European citizen by the media blackout. The same has happened with the systemathic destruction of Soviet memorials along the Baltics and Poland and its raising of new ones to Nazi divisions.
Now, Navalny is being uncovered as the real far-right extremist he really is, with even Yabloko ex-lider Yavlinsky calling for not giving him support at all…
I think Russia has decided to pull the blanket once for all, adding to this statements by Lavrov, the fact that, for first time in 30 years, Shoigu did not appear in the last OSCE meeting on security ( online )…
Then there is the fact that SVR head Naryshkin came also to state to the media that people collaborating along foreign powers to undermine their country can not be called “oposition”…
Important developments taking place yesterday in the evening in Italy come to add to all this panorama, with central bankers taking over the country lately governed by Conte, in a unestable coalition government, who dared to ask help to Russia past year ot combat the pandemic…
Well, main portfolios, at economic ministry and public administration, as well as managing of European Recovery Funds, level have gone to the far-right, selected by prime minister, unelected, Draghi ( former director of ECB ) himself in solitude in his cabinet, which makes EU continuous claims on democracy standards what they are, a joke…
In another note, which adds to my impression on the whole picture, they are current demonstrations by students in Greece on the proyect to place police stations and interrogation rooms into the Greek universities…
IMO, what is being constructed here, before our eyes, in the so often mentioned real IV Reich, having being Ukraine, the dressed rehearsal, as I advanced would be quite 6 years ago…
Ukraine on his part is asking for the Minsk Agreements to be renovated as, they claim, they have got a bit outdated…coincidentally with recent “visit” of US Navy in the Black Sea
It is not possible that the whole West throw it all behind such scoundrel like Navalny if all this would not have another secondary purpose.
The Russians are obviously annoyed and tired of eu appeasement towards the anglo/american/zionist faction as well as pitiful propaganda attempts and interference, navalny etc.
I think they are more tired of soft and ineffective responses from Kremlin.
Or american/anglo/zionist degenerates thinking they can liberalize Russian society using novichok survivors like navalny and the skills.
“The Russians are obviously annoyed and tired of eu appeasement towards the anglo/american/zionist faction …”
I suggest that “annoyance and tiredness” have very little or nothing to do with it. All this emotive feminized language is less than helpful. Great powers have interests. Not friends, not emotions. It’s a strategic game. They have played the rope-a-dope long game and now the timing obviously seems right to move to the next step/stage — or at least signal such. All these punitive western “Obey!” sanctions have achieved is a slow down and leverage through WTO loopholes and trade protection opportunities for local industry and agriculture development.
Emotive feminized language? ROFL. Did it ever occur to you that the average reader here is well aware of who Russia’s key geostrategic partners are?
Wow, from a diplomatic viewpoint, that was an exceptionally aggressive statement by Lavrov. While Russia is surely tired of having to deal with Europe’s laughably incompetent regime change attempts, they pose no actual existential threat to her. I seriously doubt the Navalny affair with its myriad self-destructive European sanctions was the actual trigger such a radical change of tone.
I think NATO’s floating a trial balloon about Ukraine becoming a full-fledged staging platform for NATO provocations probably had far more influence on Russia finally losing patience. Ukraine/NATO’s delusional overreach would pose an immediate existential threat to Russia, turning the Black Sea into the most militarized body of water on the planet — Russia is not about to let that happen. Either NATO backs down very quickly, or the entire Ukraine becomes a war zone, officially, economically, terroristically, etc. Zelensky has NO idea how easy he had it up to this point, but, if he tries this particular easy exit, he’s gonna find out. The choice is Europe’s, and Lavrov just made that painfully clear.
EU has no choice but to join Russia because for the China one belt one road Russia is in the middle. America has nothing to offer.
That is in opinion a very wise assessment. In the end the EU will have to come to terms with Russia, mutual beneficiary terms that is.
Regarding many other comments: the Eu is not a solid block, decisions can only be carried ou if the is an unanimous vote i.e all agree. Now concerning Russia that is a bit like herding cats.
You have the visegrad countries.
You have the wimpering poles.
You have Italy, always a few days from a new government or a revolution.
You have the very, very cautious Scandis
You have the powerhouse in the middle, that will tolerate absolutely nothing that threatens its hydrocarbon supply.
You have french, the say one thing and then does another
And then there is the rest who do not have an opinion, because they dont know which one is the right one.
No wonder Junker needed a drink once in a while.
I think it is much more important to understand that it was Lavrov saying it. Now just think 10 seconds more: what would have Shoigu said to EU and NATO?
Surely Shoygu had a say in this
“Russia has also taken a tough tone in its relations with NATO. On February 9th, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation for the first time in 30 years refused to participate in a seminar of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on military doctrines…..”

Lavrov telling the Euro-trash to sod off — great. On second thought, what if they decide to award Analny Navalny an honorary doctorate at each and every Euro-trash university? Take that, Серге́й Ви́кторович!
Isn’t it interseting that DNC presidents always made these chaotic choices to force Russia to hit back: Truman, Kennedy, Carter, Clinton, Obama – and now Biden? The party still has that KKK/Tammany Hall/criminal organizer mentality.
What’s interesting is that both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are each controlled by the same global financial elite. The real conflict is not the “left” versus the “right”. That’s just a time-tested process to divide and conquer. The real conflict is the top versus the bottom. Guess who’s winning?
As I am German, I know the incompetent morons who govern us far too well. And therefore I know exactly that they will now tear down their last bridge to Russia to please Uncle Sam. With such idiots in the government, every nation is really punished.
What happened to the Prussian spirit?
What has accounted for survey participants declining favorability of Russia from 2011 with 49% of Americans viewing Russia favorably to 11% viewing Russia favorably now? How accurate are the numbers? Were people lying to surveyors telling them what the ruling class wants to hear in fear of political persecution?
Was it because Russia jumped on the Covid Cult bandwagon that destroyed their lives when in the past they had viewed Russia as a hopeful moral counter-balance to the corruption of the American government?
The Globzi Covidian Cultists want to destroy the U.S. economy, which is a bitter pill for any American to swallow since they live in America.
Replacing a corrupt government with another corrupt government based on scientific fraud with techno-fascist health fascism is hardly anything that any red blooded American would not view as a direct and personal attack against themselves and their way of life.
That would not mean that those Americans suddenly wished to try to destroy Russia either economically or physically, simply that they view Russia more skeptically than they previously had.

@Andrea Iravani
All polls and surveys are perception management and false. I have myself done it. It is so easy to manipulate it and the media and public are so easy to swallow it.
You take 2000 people to make a survey about their opinion about a sensitive case. The majority dont have any interest in it, you advertise your cause and get respond from those 200 people who most support you.
Voila, you blow up the 180 supporters and 20 against as 90% in favour and 10% against out of the 100% the 2000 people.
“People will have the opinion media tell them they have”, G. Orwell.
“Germany in response condemned the ‘threat’ as ‘really disconcerting and incomprehensible,’ according to a foreign ministry statement.
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/russia-ready-cut-eu-ties-if-bloc-moves-putin-inner-circle-sanctions
Just the Zerohedge link as described above (which I won’t bother to read) says it all – the collective “West” twisting what Lavrov said into an anti -“Putin inner circle sanctions” issue – as usual misrepresenting what Lavrov stated – issuing sanctions against the Russian economy that risks Russia was the point he made! These sanctions are illegal, a fact that the EU and US conveniently forget.
And you wonder why the Russians have had enough……….
Boo hoo to Germany – they know what they have been doing – the time for softly softly has finished. Blunt speaking diplomacy is the future. It was not a threat. The Russians no longer have any patience. The EU and Germany now have to decide their future and stop blaming others.
Also this was from a longer interview by Lavrov and cherry picking comments made by him and twisting what he meant – just shows up the EU/NATO.
Here is the full interview transcript of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with the Solovyov Live YouTube channel, February 12, 2021:
https://www.mid.ru/ru/foreign_policy/news/-/asset_publisher/cKNonkJE02Bw/content/id/4570813?p_p_id=101_INSTANCE_cKNonkJE02Bw&_101_INSTANCE_cKNonkJE02Bw_languageId=en_GB
For Gods sake, just cut of the bloody gas. Paying double the price for the US’s “Freedom molecules (I kid you not) will soon bring them to their senses !!
PS Do it just before winter arrives !!
All I know is, sabotaging Nord Stream II has been the long-standing goal of the Anglo-American elites. In a way, wouldn’t cutting off the NS2 gas mean conceding/capitulating to the demands of Washington (and London)?
They think that sabotaging NS2 would be a decisive blow to Russia because they cannot escape their mental paradigm that Russia is dependent on the ‘West’ who allows Russia to exist.
Well, yeah. But even so, this pipeline was an agreement between Germany and Russia. That the USA and UK have been doing all they could to prevent its completion – and possibly the alliance Bismarck wanted – pretty much says it all.
Precisely. And I would even call into question the legitimacy of the entire project as such. Really, why the % # * @ should Russia provide an uninterrupted, stable flow of cheap energy to unreliable, undeserving, and utterly ungrateful Euro-trash?! By contrast, Russia’s cooperation with China is what matters — the degenerate West isn’t slandering Russia and China for the mere fun of it.
I always believed that NS2 was launched to help wrest continental Europe away from the clutches of the Anglosphere/NATO and possibly create/stimulate pro-Russian attitudes among the general public, and that the USA is fomenting these anti-Russian attitudes in the modern age out of desperation to remain relevant. Was I somehow deluded???
If the EU thinks they can make up the energy deficit with US LNG or other sources, let them try. They should remember what American oil companies did to the American people during the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973. The companies would do things like hold oil tankers off in the ocean to increase prices at the pumps. They will do the same things to the EU. And all of this over Navalny. I know Navanly is an excuse, but still what an idiotic excuse to put literally all of Europe into a recession over “human rights” of a personal who would gladly deny human rights to people he hates.
Just a few dry facts.
-The Russians (ok, the Sovjets then) are delivering gas to Europe since the eighties, in the Cold War. Without much problems, it’s just trade.
-NS2 is just an extension, and a nice bypass around Ukraine that has cheaten often enough.
-NS2 is not just for Germany, that is also a hub, to other countries of the EU.
-NS2 complies to all EU laws.
-Besides double the price (only the Polish are foolish enough for that), the USA is completely unable to bring that amount of gas as LNG, they simply don’t have the logistics *by far*.
-NS2 is already finished for 95%.
The dogs bark, and the caravan moves on.
Cheers, Rob
You go, Lavrov….. Let’s hope a visual presentation follows much like the video which shows the how the Western police force treats its population.
my unsolicited advice is to Make more visuals for the mentally controlled West: Si vis pacem, para bellum. highlighting of course the wonderfully efficient, relatively low cost cutting edge Russian military hardware
Then make one: Si vis pacem, fac bellum highlighting the actual war porn of the Western world ( don’t forget the hyena cackle of Hillary-dearest).
Yes, war is peace and peace is war. techno-fascist double talk prevails in Biden-Bezos-Bozo land.
“Then make one: Si vis pacem, fac bellum highlighting the actual war porn of the Western world ( don’t forget the hyena cackle of Hillary-dearest).”

Harsher rhetoric was long overdue but at the end of the day talk is cheap.
Followers and authors of this and other alike sites give these statements too much weight.
I really hope Europe calls this bluff and does its usual thing (sanctions and screeching Russophobia). This will, once and for all force a true reaction from the Russian side. If Russia just takes it on the chin then the king is naked. Such will be the optics. I hope that Russia is aware of that and I hope that EU keeps poking.
My prognosis isn’t worth a damn, especially since EU might fold and it won’t even come to that, but I would say if push comes to shove Russia will take it, release statements, graph, and do nothing.

First of all how does one deal with the headless chicken?! /the-headless-chicken-and-the-bear/
It could be argued that the headless chicken is past this stage, and now starting to decompose, and cast off the feasting pathogens; very dangerous.
Please note key context points, still respectful even in drawing the line in the sand.
The big problem is the fracturization of humanity, now well underway for longer than a generation.
Check out http://www.pnas.org/cgi/doi/10.1073/pnas.2016921117
Can the headless chicken even understand sound reason?!
Many keen observers here would likely answer no!
We can perform a trend analysis on the Empire Collective and find, as mentioned by our contributors, more than once, that the empire interprets good faith constraint, which is the in the best interests of…everyone as weakness/green light to continue their deeply prejudicial and dysfunctional machinations upon… everyone, including, notably, their own (ostensibly) citizens.
Worse yet, the entire well-data-mined and psychologically well-profiled millennials, at the minimum, are incredibly vulnerable to the incredibly powerful internet-based perception-control techniques.
This has already created a schism between the leadership of Russia, competent though they are, with the 30-and-younger cohort!
So the ever-rolling element of time is against the fulcrum of the Resistance!
The basis of every society is the common, baseline understanding of the the universe around us, our group epistemology. Now this understanding can, and is wide, but at the heart of every functioning society, certain baseline, fundamental commonalities must exist, or society cannot survive.
The new perception-control capabilities, and techniques, most widely practiced through the agencies of the Empire Collective is the most precipitous existential threat now existing on the planet.
Militarily and economically, the Empire Collective‘s shunning, and application of economic warfare has necessitated Russia’s development of contingency infrastructures, processes, and partnerships, which now insulate it from economic and to a large extent, kinetic military action, but the minds of Russians, in particular those raised in an internet-enabled world, are dangerously vulnerable!
Externally Russia seems as ready as possible, under the circumstances, but like any nation which desires to remain sovereign, i.e. the resistance, the Russian leadership is going to have to implement policies and infrastructures to limit the behaviour data-mining of the Empire Collective, or fall victim to the ensuing chaos, which we see Empire Collective descending into.
The EU get out of History long time ago.
EU leadership is ridiculed and seen with utter contempt by other powers
EU is a only a client dog slave of the US no more no less.
The Russian statement is simply the acknowledgement of that very fact.
They are not the only ones with that opinion.

He dismissed the role of Europe as a mediator between Tehran and Washington, saying that since the era of Javier Solana, the EU’s senior diplomat between 1999 to 2009, the EU had lost any distinctive identity. “To be crystal clear, the Europeans have absolutely no independent stance from America any longer.”
End Quote
It is High time the EU face its own self-made irrelevance.
Read the article and the comments and wanted to add my humble 2 cents.
I have no idea what is happening below the surface, but Russian policy is generally quite conservative and calculated. This is a very strong statement to make, It sounds a lot like Russia is calling out a bluff.
The world is staring a commodity super cycle in the face at the same time that governments are destroying their currencies . Russia is now the global swing producer of oil. Combined with Iran and Qatar (Qatar follows whichever way the wind blows) Russia is the de facto dominant producer of natural gas and pipeline operator in Eurasia. This is in addition to being a dominant producer of wheat, minerals, etc. Asia’s middle classes are growing and the next few years will see ferocious competition for commodities, commodities that Europe desperately needs. The US and Canada will muddle through, but Europe won’t be able to cope with unsustainable debt, massive overhead and deteriorating prospects. The next ten years could see a total reversal of the relationship with Europe begging at Russia’s door.
I may be wrong, but it seems like the West just lost whatever leverage they had with Russia. That train has left the station. Russia doesn’t need Europe. Europe desperately needs Russia. The only question now is when will Europe realize that.
Europe fairely know all that.
The point is the EU is led by a comprador class taking orders from Washington.
EU is out of History.
History is written by others.
There is according to me to much attention given to this. I see no possibility for war. The west the world is too decadent. But there is a battle to wage. The ultimate battle which will decide the future of us all.. That battle is within us. There are two natures housed in us, a lower nature of greed hate falsehood cruelty treachery etc. but there is also a higher nature of truthfulness kindness heroism gratitude love etc.. It is up to us all to see clearly this dual nature in us and to detect it. Build up the higher one and clean up the lower one. The lower nature dims the consciousness and leads to perdition .The develop the higher nature is the only way to safety and the future of harmony. And there is the Grace to help us to Victory in this “war”
A story from the Native Indians.

3rd Reich´ers in Germany & the visceral Russia haters in the City of London & their auxiliaries in the US Deep State are the different instruments of the Judeo-Zionist orchestra. they all play at the tune of their chef. the aim is to preserve the exchange value, the purchasing power, of their printed, counterfeit, fiat money, aka the USA Dollar. no means barred to create chaotic conditions, instability, wars & despair all over the world: the same old Yiddish Jazz of the last 2 centuries.
The East in general and Russia in a specific way seem prone to get into a new gear.
Right at this point there is one big hinge around which it can work and display further. It is the predictability of western moves and policies.
They are predictable and whatever remains obscure can be rapidly beacon lit by the FSB.
There were two moments in recent history where the Empire action in the world was exerted blunt and brazen. IT was in the 1950ties and 90ties. That ‘s to say right after Hiroshima and after the end of the Berlin wall. Both atop an apotheosis of glory.
Now strangely enough, no sign of apotheosis but the same spirit is hightened by a simple change of a palace guard near the Potomac.
But theres a stubborn virus inside and the barbarians are forcing the borders.
Lav seems to have struck the gong at the right appropriate time, never let a crisis go to waste huh.,with EU struggling with the vaccine debacle ,they need ‘sputnik’, in fact very soon they will be on the knees for it.,’the land of the brave and the home of the free’, fragmented gulag is adrift ,no where in command ,so there is no one guarding the back door & to nanny the lost technocrats in EU….EU restricting city of london financially will have blow back with no certainty, brits have long memory they will strike EU when EU least expect them.CCP censoring BBC what a joke…hope you dudes munching on pop corns furiously, we are in for some wild rides geopolitically going forward.
Lavrov is a real diplomat. He can blow cigarette smoke into the other person’s face without offending him. It was a bit “rough” after the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. After all, he is Armenian. The problem is that if the Russians do not determine their own position, others will do it for them. As long as Putin dilutes Russia’s position and makes conciliatory statements, the other side will consider them fools. If, for example, it was a European politician and not Putin, this wise conduct of politics could be considered a bit on the verge of cowardice. And the next thing that will happen (when the time comes for that) is that NATO will shoot down a Russian fighter plane because it was too close to the border of a NATO member. Just like in Syria when the Turks shot down the Russian bombers. And of course, they will start screaming about Russian aggression. And use that for further aggression against Russia. Will the Russians then go to war with NATO? will not. Bomb the American or NATO base from which the plane took off. will not. They did not bomb either the Turkish or the Israeli airport when they lost another plane with 12 experts. They set the standards themselves.
this reminds me of what the USA did to Iraq with UN sanctions in the 80’s and 90s. It came to the point where Iraq couldn’t buy chlorine to clean their drinking water because “it could be used to build chemical weapons” according to the Americans. When the UN tried to stop the hard line Americans, the Brits chimed in by making the process so slow, that in fact, nothing was going through to Iraq, not vaccines, not medicine, nothing to run their economy.
Lavrov is right, again.
The only strategic weakness o the Crimean peninsula is fresh water supply. As for the Black se becoming a NATO pool – don.t deny the Russian armed forces plenty of juicy targets. The Caspian sea flotilla does not even have their home pont.
Not so quick:
https://www.euractiv.com/section/global-europe/news/russia-says-it-would-be-ready-to-cut-eu-ties-if-hit-with-painful-sanctions/
The Kremlin offered a softer interpretation of Lavrov’s words later on Friday. It said Russia wanted to develop ties with EU rather than sever them, but that Moscow felt it had to be ready for Brussels to take steps to cut ties.
“If the EU goes down that path then yes, we should be ready, because you have to be ready for the worst,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call.
“Of course, if we encounter an extremely destructive line that damages our infrastructure and our interests, then of course Russia has to be ready in advance for those kinds of unfriendly steps.”
The foreign ministry later said Moscow would be prepared to cut ties if Brussels initiated such a break, the RIA news agency reported.
I think I already shared something like that earlier, albeit reported by two other sites. But thanks anyway – it could serve as a heads-up to whoever missed it the first time around.
@Wim
So it comes down to the opposite. Lavrov didnt make a crucial statement. What Kremlin did was once more bowing to EU crying that if they had to receive more insults and spits and middle fingers, then Russia had unfortunately to prepare for that.
Difference! So all the comment efforts were in vain…………………………………LOL.
That was then as they say. Lavrov is still dealing with the problems if the last world order. SARS-CoV-2 is the new world order.
The aim of the pandemic is to administer a mRNA therrepeutic which will alter the dna of every man, woman and child so that everyone dies gene modified and diseased.
The Devil has come to earth.

Crucial,my foot! Just yet another example of Russian dezinformatsiya by Lavrovtheliar imho. Now, all politicians lie or spout disigenuities from time to time,it’s just that Mr Lavrov seems to do it more often than most, again imho.Clearly this statement was aimed at driving a wedge between EU hardliners and those favoring a softer approach to Russia. The old “divide and conquer” ploy, once again. Disregard and proceed, would be my advice to the EU.There is far too much riding on the EU-Russia relationship for there to be any reality to Mr Lavrov’s Speech.

Lavrov explains the situation re Russia and Eu with Finnish Foreign Minister today……same stuff. Getting it out there……
A few things struck me.
First of all, apparently the RF Foreign Ministery reads articles from The Saker (they should, the other way around might also be true ;-))
Second, the Kremlin apparently softened down the tone a bit. I sense the same as with the expulsion of quite some Russian diplomats in the West after the Skripal theatre, where Lavrov wanted to reply accordingly which is usual in diplomatic affairs, Putin stated that he didn’t want to go along with this childplay and instead invited children of diplomats in the Kremlin.
Third, it puzzles me why DC still thinks sanctions have effect (‘punish the citizens, so that they start to revolt and we get our wanted regime change’). When did this succeed? The sanctions against Cuba are dating back to 1960, well, did it work out so far? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_embargo_against_Cuba
‘Punishment’ bears such an Old Testamentical, so Talmudic nauseating scent. foremost, it shows the (lack of adult) morality of the punisher.
It’s difficult to tell how the EU, or better Germany will react. I’m not a fan of Merkel, but I realize that being the motor of the EU and still an occupied nation, she is often mauled between a rock and a hard place. It’s also funny to see that the strategists in DC are still obsessed with the ideas of Mackinder of some 120 years ago, when Britain still ruled the waves, and any cooperation between Germany and Russia was considered a mortal danger. Don’t these blokes at the CFR have some more recent stuff?

“on February 10, Ukraine made a provocative proposal to NATO by urging the Alliance to use the airspace in the Simferopol Flight Information Region (FIR) over Russia’s Crimean Peninsula for its operations.”
“Ukraine’s invitation for NATO to fly over Crimea with military aircraft is an insidious military ingenuity and an attempt by Zelensky to force the Alliance into a conflict with Russia.”
To quote that great American diplomat, Tricky Vicky Nuland: F*ck the European Union!
Europe is not a puppet of America.
Europe is a partner of America–a crime partner.
Europe is guilty of participating in most of America’s serial wars of aggression around the world from Afghanistan to Iraq to Libya to Syria to Yemen and beyond.
In fact, it was Europe–particular the English–that is guilty of spawning America in the first place as a Anglo-Euro colonizer nation.
Now, two hundred years later, the Anglo Americans and Europeans want to colonize the entire world under the pretext of promoting Freedom, Democracy, Human Rights, and Western values.
But Western values are dripping in the blood of millions of people that Europe and the Anglo Americans have murdered.
And sooner or later, this Western murder spree will spawn bitter fruit when the Americans, Anglos, and European reap all the horrors that have inflicted around the world within their own benighted borders….
Context is important.
Where was Nuland during Afghanistan, Libya, Syria and Yemen, amd what were her opinions on those wars?
And were NATO members outside the USA forced to do these, or was it voluntary?
The western plans for Russia couldn’t get more explicit than this:
https://www.moonofalabama.org/2021/02/new-documents-reveal-more-british-efforts-to-undermine-russia.html
Wow…if that is not enough to break off UK relations expell diplomats shut embassy and have a purge of treasonaable peoples…..
Now all he has to do is find the courage to follow through with his big talk. Not holding my breath.
