Dear friends,
First, I want to point you to an excellent analysis by Bernhard at Moon of Alabama entitled “U.S. Military Intelligence Official Refutes ‘Russian Atrocities’ Claims“.
So we can now “officially consider” the Bucha false flag as an “official flop” :-)
Next, I want to point you to Andrei Martyanov‘s commentary on what happened to the missile cruiser Moskva he simply titled “About RKR Moskva“.
Please read both of these articles as I won’t report it here and I will assume that you have read them.
Here I will just add what Pentagon spokesman John Kirby officially declared about this incident:
“We know she suffered an explosion,” Kirby said in an interview on MSNBC. “It looks like — from the images that we have been able to look at — it looks like it was a pretty sizable explosion, too. We don’t know what caused that explosion.”
In an interview on CNN, Kirby said the explosion was “sizable enough.” According to him, US officials “picked up indications that other naval vessels around her tried to come to her assistance.” (emphasis added)
“Eventually, that wasn’t apparently needed, so she’s making her own way now across the Black Sea, and we’ll continue to try to monitor this as best we can. Certainly, it could have been damage from some external force, like a missile or an attack of some kind, a torpedo or something like that. But it could also be something that happens inside the skin of the ship — an engineering fire, a fuel fire. You just don’t know,” Kirby said.
It is a truly a very sad time when top US officials lie LESS than the “free and democratic” press!
Okay, I am not a naval person at all (being born in landlocked Switzerland did not help!) but I can make a few semi-educated guesses:
- The Ukronazis claim that they sunk the Moskva with two Neptune missiles. Wikipedia gives us two important technical details about this missile: its warhead is 150kg and its speed is subsonic which brings this specialized article to add “This missile travels at subsonic speed. It is estimated that due to its subsonic speed that anti-ship missile can be intercepted rather easily, especially by advanced defense system“. The Moskva displaces 12,490 tons, so I will assume that every person reading this will understand that 2x150kgb subsonic warheads are not enough to sink such a ship. Thus the “sunk by Neptunes” is highly unlikely.
- The electromagnetic space over the Ukrainian coast and the Black Sea is chock-full with signals from all the parties to the conflict. The launch of two Neptune ASM would have been instantly detected not only by the Russians (including the very powerful radars on the Moskva) but also by the USA/NATO yet Kirby said “We don’t know what caused that explosion”, did he not? Yes, he could be lying, but why bother when the morale-boosting lie would be to claim that it was a Ukrainian ASM hit? It seems that, like with Bucha, the US side is NOT endorsing the Ukronazi lies. I wonder why…
- Why was the Moskva evacuated? Simple, it was literally full of highly explosive munitions and fuel, so the crew was evacuated and the ship either towed back to Sevastopol or it had a skeleton crew which drove it back to port on its own power (I have heard both versions but Kirbys’ “she’s making her own way now” seems to point to the latter version ).
- The ship was clearly very seriously damaged which, according to Russian ex-navy posters on Telegram is probably due to two crucial factors: the ship is very old and it did not get a modern fire suppression system due to budgetary constrains and, possibly, mismanagement and fraud.
- Ships do burn, explode and sink. Anybody thinking that this is the result of Russian incompetence, vodka or poor design better read this first: “Navy ship destroyed by fire to be dismantled at Port of Brownsville“.
- Still, this is yet another PR disaster because the timing could not have been worse: not only is the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet unable to participate to the SMO, the Ukies now have a silly, but much repeated and morale-boosting fairy tale to spin, and it was picked up by most of the Western press (what else is new?). Yes, I know, the Ukies always lie, even about sinking Russian ships, but the braindead folks in Zone A have had an entire life long exposure to constant lies from their own “press” and they STILL read/watch it. Apparently they don’t mind being lied to.
- It is interesting that Kirby mentioned “torpedoes” since the (already non-existing) Ukie Navy does not have subs or surface ships to fire torpedoes. Make of it what you want. He did not mention or say Ukie mine by name, but just said “something like that”. We might want to keep that tidbit of info somewhere in the back of our minds.
- One more thing: the Moskva had very good, if rather old, air defenses. They were more than enough to deal with a couple of Ukrainian subsonic missiles, but we don’t know what the Ukies or the Romanians might have deployed on their coast. An air-launched missile is, in theory, also an option, but when we look at the kind of anti-shipping missiles and aircraft the Ukrainians, Romanians or even NATO or the US have, I did not find a combination which would make sense under these circumstances.
For these reasons I am inclined to believe the Russian version of a fire which put the entire ship at risk and which was eventually put out, but only after major damage to the Moskva. It was a quite beautiful ship and I hope it can be salvaged, but it was also objectively very old so maybe the money would be better spent on modern Russian Navy ships.
The only major doubt left to me is whether there were any lives lost in this fire. The Russians say that 500 sailors were safely evacuated, and if that is true, that means that if there were casualties they were not large numbers, but even a single loss of life is a tragedy and such a fire did represent a MAJOR risk for the Moskva and its crew and Russian sailors are known to be willing to sacrifice their lives to save their fellow sailors and their ship. So there could be casualties, possibly more than just a few, but probably/hopefully less than a dozen.
One more note: all night long Ukie-trolls were sending me emails and comments with stuff like “so how do you feel about our missiles sinking your flagship and drowning 500+ of your fellow Moskals?“. I want to let them all know that am deeply grateful for kind their concern and I want to reassure them that I am doing quite well, thank you :-P
Apparently, the “Ze” signed a decree authorizing Ukrainian forces to attack targets in Russia and there were a few minor attacks overnight. The Russian MoD has officially announced that if this continues Russian will attack the “decision making centers” including those in Kiev.
There is no doubt in my mind at all what this is all about. It is NOT “the invincible Ukrainian military about to invade Russia up to Moscow and even the Urals”. It is about “Ze” desperately wanting a high-visibility “Russian atrocity”, but this time in Kiev. I am confident that the Russian General Staff is acutely aware of this risk and will chose its target(s) with utmost caution and will use all intelligence sources – very much including HUMINT – in the process.
That’s it from me for right now.
Andrei
PS: if you come across any RECENT (post fire!) photos of the Moskva, please post them in the comments and email them to me, thank you!
UPDATE 1: here is what the MoD officially reported so far:
The source of ignition on the cruiser “Moskva” is localized. There is no open fire. Explosions of ammunition have been stopped. The cruiser “Moskva” remains buoyant. The main missile armament was not damaged. The crew was evacuated to the ships of the Black Sea Fleet in the area. Measures are being taken to tow the cruiser to the port. The cause of the fire is being established.
UPDATE 2: according to the Telegram channel of RIA Novosti:
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports that during the towing of the cruiser “Moscow” to the port of destination, due to damage to the hull received during the fire from the detonation of ammunition, the ship lost stability. In the conditions of stormy sea waves, the ship sank.
Comment by Andrei: if true, this saddens me, she is/was quite a beautiful ship. I also notice the “superb” performance of the Russian MoD information operations. When will the Russians get serious about the information war????
I guees this is a real chanllenge:
White House Looking To Send High Level Official To Kiev, Possibly Biden Or Harris
Full at https://www.zerohedge.com/political/white-house-looking-send-high-level-official-kiev-possibly-biden-or-harris
And the NFZ…..
The US has fallen so far down the excrement chute that Biden & Harris are considered ‘high level’.
‘Decision Making Centres’ are Central Command Centres from where they plan their next attacks at the highest level, NATO + Ukraine. Is there cooperation between Ukrainian Decision & Russian Decision Centres? Are these the posh boys and Bigwigs who always get to live as opposed to your regular command/operations post?
Makes ZERO sense to me that Kyiv & Lvov NATO-Ukraine Central Command Centres weren’t among the 1st targets/casualties when Russia took out the bulk of strategic targets in the first 72 hours.
What do I know though compared to Military Technical Experts who are thinking 5 steps ahead?
Yes, it also makes little sense to me. We were told that the Ukrainian command centres had been neutralised at the start of the SMO and that consequently the Ukrainian forces were without a proper central command. It does seem this was not the case and that these centres are still directing operations against Russian/LDNR forces. The command centres are presumably in receipt of NATO intelligence, that is meant to endanger Russian forces and common sense says that they need to be dealt with urgently.
Not all are known. There are secret ones that will be hard to find, if found at all. Satellites can only see so much. And if they are located outside ukraine and staffed with ukie soldiers? Quite possible, too. But Russia needs to up the ante as far as civilian command and control centers, and key rail and road links. That’s where the military gets its orders from. Also, take out every single airport, civilian or otherwise, so NATO supply planes cannot land.
The Ukrainian command centers are almost certainly “compromised” by Russian and Chinese intelligence. I would not be surprised if several other countries can also see every single move.
By command centers, I guess that they mean political decision-making centers.
Could be that russia wanted those centers inside ukraine intact, so russia could surveilance and tap into information from them.
Sometimes knowing where your enemy hq is is of usefull value.
Ofc deserves to be obliterated. But sometimes it has more value beeing kept (for now).
Why does Russia allows this planes to fly free in Ukrainian airspace?
Why does Russia don’t destroy every single airport in Westen Ukraine?
I understand they want to be civilised and no destroy cities. But why not to demolish infraestructura that is used to supply weapons and for stupid propaganda acts of Western Leaders?
Pretty soon, there won’t be any fuel for any Ukie aircraft.
The Russians are destroying fuel storage facilities, and all of the refineries in Ukraine have been put out of action. Hauling fuel long distance is not easily done.
Also, very few pipelines are built to pump the contents in either direction. Almost all of Ukraine’s pipelines from from Russia towards Central Europe, the exception being those which are fed by the refineries.
I believe that the Russia forces delayed attacking these targets while there was a significant danger of death by hypothermia to civilians. As it is now mid-April rather than mid-February, nights without fuel will be uncomfortable but not nearly as deadly.
A diplomatic venture by a high powered emissary to a third party country…..
Why does a Soleimani outcome spring to mind?
Yes, it is an odd decision. I was quite surprised when I heard it.
Eyewash. About the only thing Biden is responsible for is his lunch order, and he forgets what it was before it arrives.
His CIA handlers are in charge.
Well if they send Biden or Harris they’re not really sending a high level person.
She’s floating is the main thing…if it were a missile strike there’s a better chance to determine what type it was and from what country it came. Karma and all that.
Floating but probably badly damaged, considering that the crew was evacuated. Unless a miracle occurred, the ship will not be in service for weeks if not months. The fact that over four weeks into the campaign, the Russian navy and airforce were not able to suppress any relevant activity along the short coastline that remained under Ukrainian control is an embarassement IMHO.
the Russian navy and airforce were not able to suppress any relevant activity along the short coastline
And your evidence for that is what exactly?
Circular logic maybe?
Andrei
My bad, I should have written *all* relevant activity.
I read the other day that that a NATO centre to assist the Ukrainians in Odessa in naval matters has been set up, staffed by Rumanians. Is this a coincidence?
I cannot see any way that Russia can ignore Odessa in its plans. It has apparently had the benefit (?) of considerable NATO advice as regards defence.
Please share your source. There are no such a news in Romania not even speculations. Romania will stay far from this conflict for many reasons. We only sent medical aids, we help Ukraine with civil suport and some transportation for goods to help Ukraine export and Africa to be fed with grains. It is dangerous to point at romanians. If you want to know, we don’t have any army so what operations can we handle? We have no expertise, no personal, no nothing. Only few troups from Nato to justify paying lots of money for nothing. So stay chill. No Romania against anybody.

I hope you are right but the whole problem about NATO is the way countries get hustled into doing things by NATO/US that are not in their best interests and without the full knowledge and consent of the government. For example Extraordinary Rendition and black torture centres under Bush.
We had a saint, a prophet called Arsenie Boca who predicted many, many years ago that after the big war, the ones who survive will see that all was staged, all the rullers acted in perfect sync and the real war was against the people. Both NATO and Russia are Poker Players, in case of a war everything will look unprofessionaly dumb. Why? Because the level of dumbness in the world leaders is at max. I think the source of the article is strange and the name of the group Romanian PMC Nordstarsupport Group sound so… unromanian. Really, we had a case a few years ago when with all the technology we couldn’t locate a plane crushed in the mountains and in a few hours some simple shepards found it… so I guess I would not count on romanian support regarding geolocation. Believe me, we are very, very low and the equipment from NATO is efectively JUNK selled on billions (second hand F16 and a sh patriot system, realy?). In other lines, our secret service knew about the Russian special operation before 2014. In the 90’s Russia projected the events from now to a few generals from Romanian part. Every president and primeminister from Romania was named by the US, but in agreement with the Russian part. That is the dark side of the story. Now we have a german-ish president (german origins) and it is just a puppet that receive orders from Germany. True story. Behind Austrian business men are russians oligarchs so it is a real undercover story regarding who is who. We as romanians live in a paralel universe where we try to don’t give a shit about leaders. We don’t hate russian, ukrainian, germans, americans. We hate eachother, but that is another story.
Time for patriot Romanians to start doing Caucascu Elimination Acts again, to help their leaders see the Way of Good again , and this time stay on it for evermore.
Stayed in Cluj a number of times and your average Romanian is friendly. Biggest issue for Romania is that in most of the hotels, reception staff were more qualified academically than I. On the flip side to that, very subdued, being resigned to menial jobs and thereby missing out on the most important practical learning/real education between 20-30 years old.
Maybe that’s Bucharest’s Plan. Keep ’em daft and keep control.
Some top notch small Engineering companies who when the EU dropped in were swallowed up. If you don’t have Certificate XYZ no exports, so sign, here, here and here, we own you know.
All said, there’s a US-NATO Missile Defence System in Romania which needs to go, sooner rather than later.
I agree, cut off Ukr. from a ports.
The Romanians are not exactly fond of the present NATO occupation of their country. The well connected Romanians I know indicate they have come to resent the Americans more than previous Soviet occupation forces.
Nobody remembers the soviet occupation, which ended in 1956…
The Warsaw Pact ended on July 1, 1991, although it was moribund some years before that. Plenty Romanians remember those years.
Corpses putrefy quickly if left to the elements. After a week or so they bloat to twice their original size, the skin turns black and exudes disgusting slime. The Russians left Bucha on 2022 March 19. The Ukrainians moved in a few days after April began. They showed dead civilian bodies and claimed the Russians had murdered them. But the bodies were virtually intact, with little sign of decay. In other words, freshly slaughtered.
From this is it obvious that the Ukrainians had murdered those civilians, regarding them as Russian sympathisers or collaborators. Anyone with a white armband signifying “non-belligerent” or allegedly “pro-Russian” was assumed by the Ukrainians to be a “traitor” and killed by them.
The Western media, of course, picked up the lie and showed the dead bodies to naïve viewers on TV as “proof” that the Russians were committing war crimes. The lie is of course itself a war crime by the media. But the American mainstream and social media act on the premiss that their end of destroying Russia justifies any means. They are just as much war criminals as the CIA, State Department, White House and the war-planning RAND Corporation behind it all.
The moral filth pervading the U.S. government turns one’s stomach.
The casualties will be important here. If there were none, it makes a missile attack pretty unlikely, unless the Ukrainians developed an “neutron bomb” type missile that takes the ship down while sparing the crew. Right now it sounds like and orderly evacuation and that would be the case if a fire developed that could not be adequately contained. IMHO
well, considering the weight and speed of the Neptune, it could not inflict severe kinetic damage on such a large ship.
neither could a 150kg warhead.
So there *could* be casualties and loss of life.
let’s wait for both an official explanation and some good leaks from credible Telegram channels.
but mostly what I wish the Russians would release ASAP is photos.
that would take care of a lot of doubts I think
Indeed its just speculation at the moment, could be anything, even Nato.
Is this Ukie “neutron bomb” idea not the wrong way ’round ….. Neutron bombs kill people without destroying structures and equipment …. ??
Absolutely correct.
Voenkor Kitten Z
Military expert Boris Rozhin on the situation with the Moskva RK as of the evening of April 14, especially for the Voenkor Kitten Z channel.
@voenkorKotenok
1. Despite the nightly reports that the cruiser was fatally damaged and sank, in fact the ship remained afloat, and the crew was evacuated from it. There is no exact data on the losses among the crew members. Turkey denied reports that it allegedly helped with the evacuation of the Moscow crew. According to unconfirmed information, most of the crew has already been delivered to Sevastopol.
2. The causes of the fire and explosion on the ship are still not clear. The main versions circulating in open sources are the Neptune anti-ship missiles, anti-ship missiles of one of the NATO countries delivered to Ukraine, or a drifting mine. The version with one or another anti-ship missile looks more likely. Also, according to a number of versions, the anti-ship missile attack was accompanied by distracting actions of attack UAVs and was controlled by reconnaissance UAVs of NATO countries.
3. The nature of the damage to the cruiser is still unclear. According to the statement of the RF Ministry of Defense, the main caliber of the cruiser survived, which hints that either the artillery ammunition or the anti-aircraft gun detonated, which caused damage to the ship. There is not enough information yet to talk about the cause of the fire and explosion, whatever it was caused by.
4. Nevertheless, both according to the RF Ministry of Defense and the Pentagon, the ship was able to maintain buoyancy, and in the morning it was reported that it was either being towed to Sevastopol, or it was going at low speed to the base where it should stand up for repairs, where a full damage assessment will be carried out. It is worth noting that “Moskva” has not been particularly pampered with upgrades, including the upgrade of the fire extinguishing system.
5. All published photos and videos with allegedly exploding Moscow turned out to be fakes. For the explosion of “Moscow” they tried to give out various episodes from the exercises or fires on civilian ships. Full-fledged photos and videos that would allow us to assess the nature of the explosion and its consequences are not yet available.
We are very glad that the ship was okay and more importantly the Crews were safe and we are crying for those unfortunate crews (if any) who did their best during the whole operation. We pray that may God have mercy on them.
Been following the news since early day and I believe most people here were rooting for their safety. We just don’t like to hear that UkroNazis successfully killing more people. It made us very angry and tired. We also don’t like to hear Russian Army getting defeated (even for a small skirmish), but we realize that Russia is in state of war after all, real war, (against combination forces of Evil, UkroNazis-US-NATO) there will be ups and downs but we believe that God will reward Russia a Sweet Victory at the end.
And … You know, you cannot just give UkroNazis a break, they will make more lies and atrocities. One day they talking about Bucha, today they talking about Moskva (God knows what is next?). The other day they gathered up on the road side, just to get blown up by Tanks, the next day they are back, shelling town and killing more and more civilians, fortunately it happened again also today, see the news.
In short, UkroNazis must be pounded hard, very very hard, no mercy, no POWs, no HQs left, all must be destroyed and send em straight into hell! Miss those oldie goodie mr. Zhirinovksy, God have mercy on his soul.
The United States is waging war against Russia, pumping weapons into Ukraine and passing all the data from satellites and the coast of Romania, etc. to the Uki, and that is a much bigger phase of participation in the war than with the jihadists in Afghanistan against the Soviets. And that encourages Ukiye, a big offensive should start on Donbas, and on the capture of Odessa, which is the basis of the danger of attacking Crimea.
What a perfect opportunity to get Obama back again. My bet’s on Harris. Biden they can throw the book at.
https://youtu.be/Tkh9Jo501HU
oBOMBa, just what the MIC needs. Almost as good for them as Hillary.
Harris? LOL there are mice with higher IQs. Not that a high IQ is a requirement for the job, but that woman is a complete moron. At least Biden has an excuse.
Saker,
Totally agree with this assessment about the attacks on Russian soil to goad Russia into committing an atrocity:
“It is NOT “the invincible Ukrainian military about to invade Russia up to Moscow and even the Urals”. It is about “Ze” desperately wanting a high-visibility “Russian atrocity”, but this time in Kiev. I am confident that the Russian General Staff is acutely aware of this risk and will chose its target(s) with utmost caution and will use all intelligence sources – very much including HUMINT – in the process.”
As usual, Russia’s military decisions are both careful and wise.
I did want to make the forum aware of a couple of videos well worth the time to listen to:
1) This is an excellent video from Danny Haiphong explaining USA attempts at regime change in Russia – not by using economic sanctions but by infiltrating the public sphere through its CIA fronts like the NED and infiltrating and controlling certain well-placed military officers in order to establish foreign control over the military. Haiphong says if the military is compromised, regime change becomes more likely. It is important to note that Russia has made recent moves to curtail the influence of non-governmental organizations like NED, Amnesty International, etc., on Russia.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOgDCQDHx1E
An excellent review of the history of West Asia by Richard Medhurst beginning with the collapse of the Ottoman Empire up to present day and the larger implications as it relates to Ukraine conflict, Russia, and the end of Western unipolar hegemony. Highly recommended:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6krSJ3X6VxQ
I also found this article on Sputnik about the bio-weapons labs in Ukraine an important read:
https://sputniknews.com/20220414/russian-mod-says-it-has-evidence-us-activities-in-ukraine-violated-biological-weapons-convention-1094759906.html
This kind of propaganda-war is best lost, anyway. The truth will prevail in the end.
People can only take so much crap, before they start asking questions. Before they could rely on our bad memory, now the have to scrub the internet.
The Saker: “Truth begins to seep in through the cracks in the wall of lies.”
Anne Brit: “This kind of propaganda-war is best lost, anyway. The truth will prevail in the end. People can only take so much blankety-blank, before they start asking questions. Before they could rely on our bad memory, now they have to scrub the internet.”
Beatus: “Lies will reveal themselves to be lies by themselves and it will be apparent that they are lies to those who can discern it.”
Scott Ritter (paraphrased): “It the crime scene is secured by one of the prime suspects there is little chance of finding out what happened.”
Beatus: “Inconsistencies offer an opportunity to pry lies from truth. Enmity is a signal that lies are not far off. Self-delusion and hysteria will result in the babbling of lies. There is also willful ignorance.”
I have been following Intel Slava Z on Telegram. It appears just like the prior post 2014 fighting or war/cauldrons a few years ago in Donbas that the Ukrainians have dragged old men and the poor into the Ukie army under conscription. These poor souls should not be anywhere near the battlefield. These sad old men do not want to be there. F you Zelensky, Nuland, Biden, Obama, et al. Those with money and connections in the Ukraine fled a long time ago.
No one in their right mind would want to fight for criminals lik Kolomoisky, Soros, Pinchuk, Poroshenko, Zelensky, Hunter Biden, Romney’s kid, Pelosi’s son, Kerry’s step son and billionaire (Heinz) and other criminals.
The Ukies also had 47 woemn who surrendered yesterday or the day before. I pray that the Ukrainians lay down their arms and stop fighting for these monsters who are running bioweapons labs and who have been shelling and murdering civilians in DPR/LPR for the past 6 years or more.
Today Ukrainian parlament passed a law that all mercenaries fighting Ukraine on the side of Ukraine are to be considered regular soldiers of the Ukrainian army. That means that all foreign fighters captured by the Russsian army in Ukraine should be treated as POWs. They are probably trying to protect some big hat (Cloutier?) in Azovsteel in Mariupol. There is a catch, however, LDNR officialy do not have armies, but only militia, so they are not obliged to treat the captured mercenaries as POWs.
Well according to a video on Intel Slava Z on Telegram, the Chechen’s had a video of a young American’s passport. Joseph Ward Clark. A young guy who was probably C*I*A, DIA or Pentagon Special Forces. Young clean cut kid from Washington state who is now dead for what? Stay out of other people’s countries and if you go there, expect to get killed.
I recall a guy teaching real estate to a former U.S. Marine who did mercenary side work where they get paid over $10,000 a month. The guy wanted to stop but the money was too good. Probably had two car loans, mortgage, wife and kids. Being a mercenary is not an honorable profession. Sad but most people are born with some common sense.
I am tired of seeing that stupid British kid mercenary. He looks like some Instagram/Facebook or Tour of Duty video game warrior. Then sh**i*t got real in Mariupol. .
@ R
That will have no standing under International Law and International Conventions. It can not be done retrospectively with the strike of a pen.
However, new Mercs coming in could sign a contract for temporary service in Ukraines military, which may hold under international law, but certainly not those already there.
Talking of Mercenaries, “a Youtube sensation” and “Twitter Star” famous for his boasting of killing Rusians has been captured in Mariopol – not so tough now is he:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10719023/British-fighter-seen-handcuffs-head-injuries-captured-Russians-Mariupol.html
Sad thing is, the British press and public are calling him a national hero. That is far gone the British are. Beyond hope most of them.
British Instagram and Tick Tok warrior. What a joke that kid is.
I think they would need to get ukranian citizenship for that to have any legal validity.
For mercenaries that would be a 2-sided blade.
1. Get citizenship, and they would get protection when captured.
2. But get citizenship, then they can legally get shot in the back if they try to flee / surrender against kievs order. (Many have been shot in the back in the last 8 years from mostly azov batallion and similar thugs).
A mercanarie sign contract, but they can still leave the country without being treason according to the country which hired them.
So i guess it is all about the odds of:
Chance of getting caught by russia, and then executed.
Vs
Chance of wanting to leave ukraine, without being shot in the back due to kiev branding leaving as treason.
Any adult ukranian male leaving ukraine is illegal, according to the maidencoup government. (Unless it is for very specific reasons and only temporary delay).
In addition they just recently declared by law that all ukranuans living abroad, is obligated to return to ukraine to fight. Otherwise they will be commiting treason against ujraine.
Zelensky is basicly a nutcase which have no problem sacrifizing all ukranian people for the sake of his usa masters.
” they just recently declared by law that all ukranuans living abroad, is obligated to return to ukraine to fight. Otherwise they will be commiting treason against ujraine.”
Wouldn’t this apply to Freeland and the other Ukies living in Canada? Well, at least the males?
>> I think they would need to get ukranian citizenship for that to have any legal validity.
Not true at all.
The number one thing is that one is properly enlisted into the country’s army, and has taken whatever that country’s oath of service is. Mercenaries do no such thing. Also, mercenaries can’t be prosecuted for desertion. For that reason, mercenaries are often viewed as more likely to commit crimes (both regular crimes and war crimes) as there’s very little accountability for where any particular mercenary fighter is, or even if he’s present in theater.
Many foreigners join the American military for the precise reason of speeding up the process to become American citizens. When I was in army basic training at Fort Jackson, SC, my platoon guide was a Canadian, and had previously served in the US Marine Corps. The US Navy successfully recruits many in the Phillipines on the basis f military service being a fast track to citizenship.
Ashkenazi Zelensky will continue the fight until the last drop of Rus’ blood.
>> There is a catch, however, LDNR officialy do not have armies, but only militia, so they are not obliged to treat the captured mercenaries as POWs.
Geneva Convention governs the behavior of ALL combatants, including militia. Even civilians can be charged with war crimes (for example poisoning wells or salting agricultural land)

For all who know him, Auslander sends regards today.
He phoned me from his hospital in Crimea and we spoke for half-hour. He’s recovering from Covid. Should be a few more weeks of treatment. He’s on the mend.
He wanted me to pass on to all his loyal readers, fans and book buyers that he is doing okay, regaining strength and will be back in action in a short while.
I will post in subsequent days whenever he contacts me.
Meanwhile, he deeply appreciates the prayers in support of his health battles.
So, today, I heard from him again. He’s doing okay. His treatment for Covid-19 will run 3 weeks. He’s in isolation in the hospital, his wife not able to visit because of the Covid situation.
We discussed the Moscow frigate and he said it had a fire 3+ years ago, so no surprise about the fire.
Crimea is under constant DOS attacks, so his info about the war is limited over the last week.
He appreciates deeply the kind words posted in support of his health concerns.
He’s in good spirits and sends regards to all for the prayers and those in the past who supported his books.
You can find out more about those at http://rhauslander.com/books/
He promised he’ll be back commenting when he finishes defeating Covid.
Very sorry to hear he has been ill. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery!
Good to hear he is ok. I can’t wait for his take on current events.
Greetings from Toronto!
I pray for his swift recovery, then.
His comments and yours, always the most insightful on this forum.
please stay on topic.
thank you
Thank you for this information. I’ve noticed Auslander’s absence from this blog for some time and I’d attributed it to an internet problem in Krim. I was down with Covid last summer myself and off work for 8 weeks. It’s a tough assignment, but full recovery is possible. Please add mine to the well wishes for quick return to the keyboard. The Parliament of Moldova banned the letters V and Z. “Public use” of them can lead to fines up to 980 dollars. Banning “V” is like giving up on victory. Can sports people use it? I think the losing team might accuse. It should say “public use” as in political rallies and protests, but it looks like it’s a more drastic ban. Does Moldova want to look and sound like Ukraine? I looked at a map. It’s right next to Ukraine!

Calm down (and at the same time, thank you over and over for your wonderful posts, and site). It’s not a PR disaster. Already, the Ukie war’s 15 minutes seem to be expiring. The ‘coverage’ seems to be the incredibly shrinking ‘current thing.’ Time for a USA ‘white supremacist’ false flag or the return of the plague, or something. Fewer seem to care (about something that is nobody’s business except those on site in east Europe. Again thanks so much.
Andrey,
take a look at this

The first USA ID I see.
good news is our ship wasn’t sunk by the enemy it just caught fire on it’s own and is only heavily damaged.
I am still wondering if it was a mine. I hope everyone is okay and the ship can be repaired.
Ukraine has not had a moment like Argentina did in the Falklands war when it sank the HMS Sheffield with an Exocet missile.
“The British public became fascinated by the Exocet missile after one sunk HMS Sheffield shortly after the outbreak of the Falklands war in 1982. Before long, the word Exocet was being used as…”
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/oct/15/exocet-missile-how-sinking-hms-sheffield-made-famous?msclkid=ce0e423bbc2411ec810148f9ef4b3d5d
If fire was not the cause of the explosion then I think it was NATO itself (or a proxy) that attacked the ship and not Ukraine.
Yes, this appears to be the developing story, subject to MoD verification.
It has a usual complement of 510 seamen. If 500 were evacuated this means extremely few to no casualties (if numbers were being rounded or this was current true number.)
I also heard this old ship was due to be scrapped, hence lack of upgrades. Its replacement, a helicopter carrier is already under construction.
All in all a regrettable accident at worst time, in worst location, in front of the worst lying enemy, to the most symbolic vessel of the Black Sea fleet..
Nevertheless, we’ll carry on.
Maybe a sneaky, stealthy submarine snuck in and fired torpedos. German diesel-electric submarines are said to be very hard to detect. Baseless speculation, of course.
how would such a sub
1) cross the Bosporus
2) evade Russian ASW
?
Andrei
See HSMS Gotland versus USS Ronald Reagan plus its sub-hunting escorts in a wargame in 2005.
The Black Sea is too shallow for modern submarine warfare except for extremely small craft. No navy has seriously tried submarine warfare in the Black Sea since the inventions of Sonar and the anti-submarine Depth Charge.
Basically, from the perspective of a submarine commander, there’s no place to hide in the Black Sea.
Note – 1989 USS Iowa battleship had a massive gun turret explosion in one of its 16“ gun turrets. 47 sailors were killed
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Iowa_turret_explosion
Stuff happens
US navy had many accidents in its history. What is strange in this case that despite allegedly 2 missle hit the ship, there was no crew cassualties or injuries.
Moskva had automated double cannons. My bet is on outdated fire extiguishing mechanisms or/and some malfunction of that turret.
Officers on the Iowa were “experimenting” trying to get longer range out of heavier shells (IIRC, 2600 lb vs the lighter 1900 lb) by putting bags of slightly faster-burning propellent meant for the 1900 lb bags (which have wording on them SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITING the use of those bags with 2600lb projectiles). Because apparently, those guys thought that it would be better to conduct such experiments on their ship in the middle of the sea rather than late the Bureau of Ordnance guys at Crane Naval Weapons Depot conduct such testing themselves (which, in fact, BUORD had done already, in the 1940’s, which is why the bags were specifically marked as being incompatible with 2600 lb projectiles).
Since they couldn’t admit that was what was going on, officers on the ship specifically directed enlisted personnel to not mention that because “investigators aren’t interested in it.” So they tried to smear one of the victims as being suicidal due to some homosexual affair.
Ridiculous over-reactions to unfortunate but highly predictable events that happen in wars. Russia is executing its plan on its timeline and it is succeeding. If this was a declared war, Russia would have destroyed all of Ukraine already. Sure, adjustments to tactics need to be made and they are. Russia is not going to win the PR battle with the West in Western countries. So, stop watching the BS, or your emotions will continue to be triggered by these mind control tools. Stay calm, and lets carry on.
Now, now. Everyone knows Switzerland has subs – Lac Leman is well known.
Also Switzerland has aircraft carriers – what do you think is the Alp air-force launch system, catapults an’ all?
And highways nuke mined against a French invasion during the Cold War?
Maybe now Lausanne is nuke free….
And the observation that Red Army tanks could not fire down into valleys, i.e. most of CH.
How about a mine?
This is an excerpt from an article from somwhere. What do posters think about it?
“An American military aircraft was seen in the emergency area with the Russian cruiser Moskva.
At about 19 pm, an American military patrol and reconnaissance anti-submarine aircraft of the US Navy was spotted in the western part of Romanian airspace. The latter was located approximately 70 kilometers from the location of the Russian missile cruiser Moskva.
According to data available to the Avia.pro news agency, a US military patrol reconnaissance and anti-submarine Boeing P-8A Poseidon aircraft was in the eastern part of Romanian airspace, flying with an unknown target. According to a number of data, the flight of the Boeing RC-135 aircraft was also carried out, however, the latter could not be tracked by the ADS-B Exchange resource.
According to the ADS-B Exchange resource, the American Boeing P-8 Poseidon aircraft with the ICAO identification code AE681B was flying near the Zhurilovka settlement (Romania). However, due to the transponder periodically turned off by the crew, experts do not exclude that the board could also fly over the western part of the Black Sea, where, according to preliminary information, the Russian missile cruiser Moskva was located.
What kind of information could be collected by the American military reconnaissance aircraft Boeing P-8 Poseidon is still unknown, however, judging by the data presented, the board was still in the air at 21 hours and 17 minutes.”
Some rambling thoughts :
I find the annoncement of Pentagon spokesman John Kirby suspicious. There is something not right here.
Somehow I think they now exactly what happened, and is gloating about it. Hard to say what.
Maybe they have some kind of new airborn weapon (Direct Energy / Laser) or achieved some kind of internal sabotage onboard the ship.
The timing of their focus on the ship, and the subsequent annoncement stinks. It’s weird how they deny the Ukies to gloat about their ‘victory’ very rapidly.
Lots of things cause fires damaging enough to sink a ship. An educated guess, IF a P-8A was loitering nearby: a seafloor mounted Mark 54 homing torpedo ‘with a communications module’ would do it. The container for the torpedo being planted in known shipping lanes by under water drone, small ship, submarine, aircraft. The actual planting of the ‘mine’ could happen weeks earlier so as to not arouse the active defenses of the cruiser against who or whatever is doing the deploying . See
https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidhambling/2020/10/22/us-navys-hammerhead-mine-aims-to-tip-balance-in-south-china-sea/
Only way to know for sure is either raise the ship or visit the hull at it’s resting place for a forensic investigation. Tough call from a cost/benefit angle.
One theory – until it isn’t
The Canadian news Corp CBC is now accusing Russia of genocide on all cases that have been proven. Canada is another pawn in the web of lies and i am disgusted with my country.
Please do your part and stop entertaining the CBC on anything related to the conflict. Simply change the station
to ‘stand up comedy’, you’ll be better off.
Why continue to fill your mind with lies if you realize its BS.
Canada has a rather large Ukranian lobby and over 1.2 million votes. Let’s not forget that Chyristia Freeeman, Deputy Prime Minister of Canada has a Ukranian Nazi background. Since 2014, Canada has pumped millions of dollars to the illegitimate governments of Ukraine.
Well, your Prime Minister is Justin Castro, so… you know…
I have also read somewhere that the British would send Harpoon anti–ship missiles to Ukraine. I don’t know if they have done it already.
Z has to be a tool completely under the control of Uncle $hmuel. In no way, shape, or form could he
come up with any of the false flag, shops, etc. on his own.
Zelinsky is ALSO Ashkenazi, just like Victoria Nuland (AKA NUDLEMAN), and the rest of the Neocon crowd in Washington DC.
He’s not under their control… he’s a willing collaborator, for which has been very well paid-off (over US $1 Billion so far)
I am certainly not a military expert, but I have to ask – why is an old, out-of-date ship being hailed as the flagship of the Black Sea? Russia has some extremely modern ships. Why this one? Seems to me to be very bad PR for Russia.
Well Victor, if Russia would fight fair, and lie like western MSM, then PR would be moot. Russia is in a real war not a PR war, surely you realize the difference even without military experience. Falls under ‘shit happens’, Russia will adjust tactically.
Cheers M
Missile cruiser Moskva (old name Slava) was made in Nikolaev 1986. Soviet made ships, and not only, are very good and extremely durable.
Hence I don’t entirely believe the mine theory
In most navies, older cruisers are usually used as flagships for a DESRON (Destroyer Squadron). The Black Sea really isn’t big enough for warships larger than destroyers, so it’s not unusual for an old cruiser like the Moskva being the flagship of the Black Sea DESRON, and therefore, by default, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet.
Guys, principally does not matter if NATO, mine, missile, cigaret lighter or cook burning omelette du fromage. I would say that even if the fire has been set up by a stupid boatsman it is still big failure.
There is no doubt that anti-ship missile could badly damage such a ship. I a not saying that sink but serious damage is possible. And again if it was a missile or two and went through AAD it is THE big failure. There are even speculation on unleashed mine, hm even this is big failure or negligence. If it is repairable we will see.
Mines are difficult enough to detect with sonar while underwater on their mooring cables. A mine floating on the surface is, for all intents and purposes, impossible to detect with sonar, unless the sea is nearly perfectly smooth (which the Black Sea definitely is not at this time of year). This leaves only lookouts to spot them using their eyeballs, which is even more difficult than spotting the tops of icebergs. And the explosion occurred at night.
If it had been a mine on it’s mooring, the ship would have sunk immediately — the explosion in the vacinity of the keep would have created a giant gas bubble, removing liquid support for a significant length of the keel, causing the unsupported portion of the ship to drop (if it’s in the middle, the bow and stern fold upwards, bending at the location of the bubble, if it’s near the bow, the bow will snap downwards), and thus catastrophically bending the keel, also known as “break the ship’s back”
Since there is no report of any such damage, only fire leading to later explosions, we can rule out an anti-ship mine. Also, mines cause immediate flooding which almost always traps and kill sailors in the engineering spaces, and the Russian MoD is saying there was zero loss of life.
Can’t confirm how legit it is, but seems to be the only latest images available from satellite.

“the ship is very old and it did not get a modern fire suppression system due to budgetary constrains and, possibly, mismanagement and fraud.”
What might be related to what Saker said above is found on a pro-Russian site:
For 20 years of rising from their knees, the following combat surface ships of I and II ranks were built:
– 2 frigates project 22350 (2x $450 million)
– 3 frigates project 11356 (3x $430 million)
– 7 corvettes pr. 20380/85 (7x $250m)
– 2 BDK pr. 11711 (2x $160 mln)
During the same years, the following yachts were built:
– “Dilbar” Usmanov ($550 million, seized)
– “Eclipse” by Abramovich ($460 million)
– “Sailing Yacht A” Melnichenko ($425 million)
– “Ocean Victory” by Rashnikov ($310 million)
– “Motor Yacht A” Melnichenko ($255 million)
– “Luna” Akhmedov ($230 million)
– Quantum Blue by Galitsky ($225 million)
-“Black Pearl” by Burlakov ($220 million)
– “Ona” Usmanov ($210 million)
– “Palladium” by Prokhorov ($155 million)
– “Madame Gu” Skoch ($135 million)
– “Pacific” Michelson ($130 million)
– “Barbara” Potanin ($125 million)
– “Here Comes The Sun” Japaridze ($125 million)
– “Tango” by Vekselberg ($110 million)
– “Areti” Makarov ($110 million)
– “Kibo” Mamuta ($105 million)
– “Alfa Nero” Guryev ($105 million)
– “Nirvana” Potanin ($100 million)
– “Anastasia” Potanin ($80 million)
Etc.
Several of the yachts above are owned by the same people. Oligarchs who gain their wealth inside Russia. But spend it mostly outside Russia. If they were patriotic and even the money spent on the “extra” yachts was given in taxes the Moskva would have had the finances for an advanced fire suppression system. There needs to be some drastic changes made, and I think now is a time that the Russian public would more than approve of them.
On the one hand, Russia returns the Ukrainian rescue ship ‘Sapphire’ free of charge and without any conditions, and on the other the hand Russian flagship ‘Moskva’ has sunk due to reasons unknown. A Boeing P8 was spotted near ‘Moskva’ prior to the incident which caused serious damage to the warship.
Perhaps, it is time for Russia to lose the “holier-than-thou” attitude, if they are actually serious with the Special Military Operations.

What do we know historically about “US Intelligence”?
a) That it is historically big on electronic means, and weak on human sourced intel.
b) The history of the Terror Wars seems to show that they are very susceptible to being lied to when they do find human intel.
c) This combination means that they have a track record for being wrong, and at times massively wrong missing the coming of major events. Electronic intel without human sources to explain it is frequently wrong, and also open to misdirection.
Add to this, as we hear in other areas, Russia is a peer power to the Yankees. Which means, that Russia has its own electronic intelligence. This was announced to the world for instance when Vikki Nuland had her “Bleep the EU!” statement leaked. This is yet another area where Russia is not Saddam, or some other fool using US made gear with NSA back doors.
Since the USA has been relying on electronic intelligence for decades, it makes a lot of sense that powers like Russia and China have been regularly strengthening their defenses against NSA snooping.
I suspect that for the first time in a long time, the Yankees are essentially blind in this fight. They obviously have zero human intel in the Russian state. And, they are facing a peer power who can keep the Yankees from eavesdropping on everything.
That’s ok, Zelensky gives them regular updates on the entire truth of everything going on in Ukraine. Its just a new comedy role for him, with new costumes. I hear they have also re-hired Curveball to double-check everything Ze-ze tells them.
Finally, a complete explanation about the mysterious incident of the Uki tank that fired on its own people, timeline and slides included. Yes, it was a Ukrainian tank, firing on Ukrainian troops, a F.U.B.A.R. of the fog of war. The issue can be put to rest.

Why did a Ukrainian tank shoot at its own into the crowd? YOU WILL BE SHOCKED – it turns out he did everything right! (2022)
Turns out there were two shots!
This incident occurred three days ago somewhere near Kharkiv. Ukrainian soldiers found an abandoned old BMP-2 of the Russian Armed Forces with the Konkurs ATGM – a track strip thrown off the rollers. Most likely, at high speed, the car skidded, the caterpillar flew off and it was abandoned. How long she was there is unknown, maybe a week or more.
Around this trophy, Ukrainian soldiers began to be photographed. Everything happens at some checkpoint. Sand is poured on the road.
Ukrainian soldiers with blue tape on their sleeves. A couple of weeks ago, the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to change the scotch tape, previously there was a yellow color, but it was greatly unmasked. And then there is a problem – the sight of the tank 1A40, it greatly reduces the aperture and drops along with this color. The slightest shadow or twilight – nothing will be visible, blue bandages even more so.
To the group of soldiers at the BMP-2 were T-64BV tanks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – they were definitely Ukrainian (a number of signs in the video). At the same time, the barrel of the gun of the front tank was in the target mode and was aimed at the BMP-2, it led the armored object for some time and approaching 35 meters fired a shot of cumulative ammunition.
It will not be possible to completely put the error in the crosshairs, since the tank commander was sticking out of the turret and the blue armbands should have been seen, but the “V” signs painted on the BMP-2 attracted his attention more and apparently he did not have enough time to assess the situation after seeing the BMP-2, and the gunner did not see the blue bandages for a long time. Shot.
After the tank was fired, it is unlikely that any of the 10 people survived.

Dude, those ten guys got majorly FUBARED, I thought the trench cultivation pics were a tough view, (okay, entrenched troops, can’t f’n imagine being in a trench when arty is falling all around you) two legs sticking out of the ground, but the tank hit pics, don’t look. Kinda sticks with you for a few days…..or so.

🇷🇺⚡The cruiser “Moskva” sank while being towed in a storm, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The cause of the fire is really quite simple. It seems a crewman aboard turned on a TV to an American news channel. As soon as the news anchor opened his lips, the crewman’s pants caught fire, igniting the surrounding area very quickly.
The Russians really need to update their security measures in order to prevent further informational domination. While Russian air defenses are known to be the best in the world, it is even more known the American bullshitting is the most powerful and devastating weapon of mass destruction ever created, often traveling at hypersonic speed and destroying entire countries within seconds.

I’m a bettin that President Putin is gonna get fedup with nato pretty quickly and do some real damage to their ranks. I’m in zone a and rootin for Putin along with 81 million President Trump voters. No wars under President Trumps command and he wanted to bring our troops back home where they belong!!
Trump would be all in on whatever the neocons have been doing in ukraine.. crimes vs humanity he said about Russia.. ffs
Have to disagree When he met with President Putin they kicked everyone out of the room except the interpreters.
Only President that never started a war. He knew what Ukraine and the whole of our politicians were doing in Ukraine and was gonna let the cat out of the bag. Hunter’s laptop and all was squashed by the neocons and the press. All lies. Remember hillary saying ” If he wins we all hang”? She wasn’t just talking about democrats and schumer saying ” six ways to Sunday to get back at you”?
Sometimes you have to live to fight another day and that is what President Trump is doing IMHO.
I’m glad President Putin is defending Christians and country against the evil axis nato/us. We will get our comeuppance but my hope is that the pitchforks of the people will come 1st and justice on this earth will come.
Mark,
I certainly hope that you’re indicative of the average Trump supporter, if he indeed gets re-elected. I voted for him in 2016 precisely because of his stated foreign policy goals, i.e. make deals and get along with Russia. Unfortunately, he hired the absolute worst people imaginable (John Bolton for starters) that wrecked any sort of rapprochement.
He didn’t understand just how corrupt the gov. was and he didn’t hire anyone. That’s why he didn’t fire the whole opposition people running the gov. on his 1st day like most all Presidents do, he needed to keep everything running and he trusted people to be honest and do the right thing for country. Like President Putin!! All his people were appointed by the repubs. It only takes 1 senator to call for a recess and then he could put in his people. 4 years no recess and 2 years were under repub senate and congress! All other presidents were afforded recess’s to get people in to head dept’s, not PT.
Hey it could be a head fake, the diabolical mind of a narcissist politician is a hard thing to understand. But I do believe the turning ( and it may be very ugly ) is coming and for the good of the world.
Thank you Mark!!!
Let justice for the elites be done, and the pitchforks rise before they destroy the whole world!!
Old Chinese proverb, do not count chickens before they hatch.
Some rather rhetorical questions and a few observations
1) if the Ukrainians had the Neptune anti ship missiles operational since 2021, what prevented them from lunching them 2-3 weeks ago or event on the onset of the war? Why wait till yesterday to lunch them and not much earlier ?
2) The exact Geo-location of the ship was known to the US at all times and and was promptly passed to the Ukrainian side. So they could have lunched this alleged cruise attack much earlier. Why did
they not do it?
3) Same goes for saboteur seals of either the Ukrainian or US/UK navy? Why did they had wait for 50 days to lunch this attack. That being said I can not completely dismiss the work of anti ship underwater saboteurs. It is conceivable.
Observations:
The ship was rather old and lots of crew; statistically that increases the odds of either mechanical failure or human hazardous behaviour. So you are more likely to have this accidents on old ship with lots of crew than a newer one that is heavily auto meted.
While the loss of the flag ship of the Black See is terrible for optics, in terms of combat value , in my humble option the only loss ( albeit a rather substantial one) was the AD umbrella afforded by the anti aircraft missiles on board. The anti ship value of Moskva has long been replaced and surpassed by the newer, smaller, more agile ships in the Black See fleet.
I find it rather convenient for the captain, that with the sinking of the ship any investigation would be much more difficult to established any firm culpability.
This being said, the war is almost exclusively a land war, so the real impact on the operations in Ukraine would be rather limited. However, the Russians would have to find a way to replace the anti aircraft capabilities of this ship in the eastern Mediterranean Sea where it was frequently deployed i in the past as an advance air denial capability in the waters south of Cyprus. That capability is now gone and it may take some time for the Russ ins to replace it.
My informed guess would be that this was pre-emptive considering the main threat this vessel embodied for a future battle around Odessa. It would not make sense for Russia to not take this and as such obtain a strategic connection between the various areas and close off permanently access to the sea side for Ukraïne.

I found this discussion on “The Duran” of interest. Seems Alexander Mercouris believes that Russia will begin turning up the heat on Ukraine through possible decapitation strikes. He posits that the reason for the more methodical pace of Phase 1 was due to persons in the Kremlin and Putin himself wanting to keep Russia’s allies (principally, China, India, and Turkey) on board with Russia’s prosecution of the war (a kind of glove’s on approach). However, now, with the continued PR offensive by Zelinsky and other Ukrainian officials, the majority of Russians (both officials and the public) have lost patience and want more decisive action. Mercouris further argues that the allies appear on board with a more aggressive posture as Ukraine has backed away from its negotiated position in Istanbul where it stated it would not join NATO. If Mercouris is correct, expect command and control HQs to be hit with stand off weapons and Russia’s own “heavy” weapons to be brought to bear on Ukraine’s army in the Donbass.
Regarding the Moskva, both the US and Ukraine will try to spin things pro them and anti Russia.
The Moskva was of another era when she was a carrier killer. Now that job can be done more efficiently by alternative means, so remember her, and her service, and that she died in action, rather than rusting away unwanted in some other country’s shipyards as is the fate of several Ukraine naval vessels.

The missile cruiser Moskva was launched on July 27, 1979, more than 42 years ago. Can there be a greater honor for a warship than to die in battle for the Motherland? Can there be greater honors for a military man than to avenge him? I’m sure it will.

Definite echoes of the General Belgrano during the Falklands war. This is a bad augur inneed, especially considering Russia had only three of these flagship-type ships in her entire arsenal.
I cannot believe my eyes: a story is built partly on what the Pentagon says?
From https://t.me/vicktop55/3134:
Two days ago: The NATO Secret Monitoring Service started working in Odessa and tracking the ships of the Russian Navy. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a source in the Russian law enforcement agencies and his Ukrainian informant.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, the NATO monitoring group operates in one of the suburbs of Odessa. Service workers are equipped with equipment that allows determining the exact coordinates of any vessel in the Black Sea within a radius of 200 kilometers.
The main specialists are employees of the Romanian PMC Nordstarsupport Group.
The interlocutor also noted that the tasks of the group are to prevent the landing of Russian troops in the Odessa region and the issuance of the location of Russian ships for targeting Ukrainian anti-ship missiles “Neptune”.
I remember that Sadam was interviewed following the first Gulf War in the early 1990’s. When asked what was his biggest mistake, he replied “I did not understand the importance of public opinion”.
That was thirty years ago.
Being an ex Naval Officer in charge of a Damage Control Locker decades ago for my Sea Tour, this could be a Mishap or an Act of Sabotage.
The Explosion would have me lean towards Sabotage, since they were Kilometers away from shore, not Engaging any Entities by Guns, and the Main Missiles appear to be involved.
Now, some SAMs/DepthCharges may have been jammed at launch, causing a Fire+subsequent Explosions.
I’m a bit surprised that the Cruiser didn’t make it – with the Black Sea being an “Inland/Shallow Sea”. Water Pumps and Temporary Fixes to Bulkheads+Decks should have been set. Everything should have been Set at what we in the USNavy would call “Zebra” under the Waterline – throughout the ship if in General Quarters.
It’s not that far. If a Storm was approaching, bring a few extra Tugs along. Frack Towing in the conventional sense – having 2-4 Tugs Secured alongside would have prevented a Tipping – unless of course, the Flooding+HullDamage were extensive.
That being said, we don’t know the extent of the damage.
The Slava being an Older Ship, it may have been more convenient (and safer from any secondary fires, set detonations, Drone/Anti-Ship Missiles) to let it sink and spend the Rubles on current Shipbuilding Projects.
Visited Sevastapol in 90’s while in Royal Navy
We were shocked at the state of the Russian ships
There was almost no internal compartmentalisation
A small engine fire or hull breach could destroy the ship very quickly
Even HMS Fearless which was older than most of the Russian ships, had a much better survival probability
Russia needs many more new ships
The old ones should be decommissioned, or grounded and used in static defence
Sorry but implicating that Russians have placed some explosives on board and sank it on purpose is a ridiculous idea. None does that. After end of operation Ukraine if they decided that there is no reason to modernise that ship they just simply write it off and cruiser floats in the dock waiting to be scrapped.
If HAARP hit the ship or overloaded some exotic shield tech on it, then they would have reason to disappear the ship and any evidence.
The problem exacerbated by most machinery and emergency equipment located predominantly in one location.
The ship never the upgrades it really needed, more so fire suppression and overhaul of fire-fighting systems.
Good thing that most of the crew survived. You can always build a new ship, but you can’t bring people back from the dead.
RF needs better and more modern ships. Black Sea is not a damn river, you need ships protecting it. Now is the time to get really serious. US gave the intel, for sure.
By the way, the Ukraine should be very happy. Had 500 lives been lost today, I wonder how much of the country would still be intact by morning.
Is obvious now The Empire of Hate and Lies are not fighting with honor. As always they lie, they make fake ops and so far it worked as they faces weaker opponents and they managed to isolate them. Till a few years ago. Turkey, Khazakhstan, Belarus etc, ops that didn’t managed to change regimes with puppets ones.
But now they try to provoke Russia with fake attacke, including with the war ship, as to make Russia engage with NATo so fot hem to realise the wet dream in isolating Russia from the World and destroy it.
The policy of Russia maybe is making it look weak, but is wise. It is the only way in winning this war: to keep calm and dont get controled by emotions and impulse.
As then they have better chanches in winning. Is the same thing bullies do all the time: they push people with ”innocent passive aggressive things” and when that person breaks and get emotional, they laugh or get them, destroy, cancel.
Only that now is a state bulling. And with bullies, the best is to ignore them and keep doing your things. it is the only way to stop them. or confront them, but only if you have all the cards, all of them. yet you also have to calculate each time if you win more by attacking, or by staying quiet.
Russia needs to stop acting so nice, they have to take some of their methods, but without civilians involved, of course. But to create something some problem somewhere else, but not obvious. Some breaking alliences, some revelations, there have to be breaches lots of them. Russia is doing great I know and keeps on fighting in many plans, but something has to be done, something more, as keep on biting and biting and bulling.
Also to use some Tarot: Tarot always tells the right story :)
Thank God his crew did not die. Russia can build a new and better cruiser.
It is a shame! because it was a beautiful ship.
Let Saker decide.ZZ
The Saker is too close to the front to have an objective view of the situation. Being born in Switzerland and than living in USA for 20 years, there is a lot about the West that is common sense to him. Most Russians in the Russian government understand Russia very well but have an imperfect understanding of Western Civilization. In the short term the Saker will be frustrated at what he regards as huge mistakes, but are inevitable. Long term the Russian emphasis on truth will prevail.
The ambassador of the Kyiv Regime to Spain defends with complete naturalness at Spanish TV that Nazis intervene before European parliaments on behalf of Ukraine at the request of Zelensky. Any questions?

“A Ukrainian military spokesman said the ship had been hit by cruise missiles, causing it to capsize and start to sink.” Quote from MSM report, which provides the video below as the evidence that Ukraine presented for this, but not without commenting that it’s a dark video that only shows an explosion (washing its hands of the whole matter?). There’s something about the sound of fakery that you’ll recognize even if it’s in a language you don’t know a single word of. Just in case someone does not believe or doubts this other thing, I submit the video as evidence of it!
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/video-shows-russia-s-moskva-cruiser-hit-by-ukraine-s-neptune-missiles/ar-AAWdprl?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=c33982d38ac54d8a86c0fafe7da8b4b6
Definitely fake news. It is common mistake made by Hollywood types. The sound of muzzle flashes and explosions is synchronized with the video display of them, similar to most video games. In the world of reality however, sound travels 330 m/s through air so for something going off a few km away the sound is going to arrive seconds later. Even for muzzle flashes from a sniper’s rifle, say 500m to 1 km away, the delay will be over a second and quite noticeable.
Moskva sure does have beautiful lines, kind of reminds me of HMS Hood.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense announced tonight that the Russian missile cruiser Moscow sank, Tanjug reported.
During the towage to the base of the cruiser “Moscow”, due to the damage it suffered during the fire, it lost stability, the Ministry of Defense of Russia announced.
In the conditions of the bora, the cruiser sank.

It’s funny also how they talk about Russian weapons that are being sent and will be sent to Ukraine to win against the Russians because otherwise winning is not possible. They should know better, what an embarrassment! For if without old Russian weapons you cannot win, and you don’t have your own weapons to send to the battlefield, and they (Russians) must have their new weapons besides their nuclear arsenal, and they already announced that Ukraine will cease to be a State if the war is like too much of a problem for Russia; and it’s no less than the Russian army and you will stay in your house and not go there, shouldn’t you be able to figure out that sending these old and discarded weapons is actually in vain and will only cause more deaths and even might cause the loss of “statehood” already warned about – and in part because of the “help”? If you’re a true friend of the people, in other words, shouldn’t you be negotiating so that an outcome is reached that will not be the same as before the war, but which still is better than not negotiating the terms to definitely end it? The Russians are not even demanding “unconditional surrender” (yet), so why not look for that real solution instead of only sending old Russian weapons because “only” with them is victory possible, which is what not just Zelensky is saying these days, but people who can look at it with more tranquility from so far away?
When will the Russians get serious about the information war? The NATO empire’s un-freedom and plutocracy’s info war apparatus and arsenal of hypocrisy is more widely deployed than NATO’s military in some ways. Cognitive Warfare etc.
It is constantly propagating new false premises that cause people to draw the conclusions that this apparatus is leading them to. They have made the use of logical fallacy a weapon of mass deception and so many do not even know they are subjected to it. Here in NZ we have a saying ‘pushing sh!t uphill’. This from of warfare can not be countered symmetrically by Russia at this stage.
I think the best tactic for undermining the foundations of an Empire Of Lies and its Ukiro-nazi keyboard battalions et cetera is to simply tell the truth the best Russia can and also expose truths that said empire would rather remain hidden, e.g., catalogue and disseminate widely things that came from Manning, Assange’s org, and Snowden etc, etc — everything Russia can do in that regard.
It’s a long game unfortunately, because due to all those false premises and how they lead to the conclusions people make, it takes time for people to finally realize what the truth even was, but every now and then truth can have a massive impact on current events. A lot of Western citizens turned against Vietnam in the end. I tihnk it can happen again.
I dont get it. Why Russian side keeps saying we will do this if you do that!? Just do it and then say why!! I get the impression they still think this is just a special operation. Call it what you want, but it is war and it is silly to underestimate the other side. Doing so results in lots of operational errors.
Special Military Operation has always been a misnomer, more so with the use of the word “war” banned two or three days after the beginning of the war. The longer the war goes on, this other term makes your image worse because war now looks even more terrible. Like you say, “doing so results in lots of operational errors.” I think so too because there must be things about “war” that a “special military operation” forbids (or it’s not a special military operation anymore). It could have been a “correct” term if the war had ended in less than a week or so. It gets more wrong the longer the war continues. In WWII, the German “rescue” of Mussolini (in the videos, he doesn’t look like he wanted to be rescued) was a special military operation. Furthermore, you could have called it “war” from the start and then conduct it in any way you want, like a special military operation if you want to. It’s always better to speak straight, and if it’s war no “politicking” is welcomed by anyone.
Pardon my Spanglish AA. I meant they not you. You would call it “war”, I’m sure.
It looks like a variation on Kiev’s “Anti Terror Operation” in 2014. A trick to avoid various legal complications of terms like war or civil war would cause. Also for the various ongoing applications. Or to rename the coup as some kind of will of the people being exercised and new “elections” held in areas where traditonally most west leaning support lived, somehow proving this. From that moment on, any country decided to join the Word Games.
They’re never going to get serious about the information war because they don’t care. And they’re right not to because there’s no chance they can offset the West’s media capabilities. In any event, the rest of the world knows what’s going on, even if the morons in the West don’t.
Martyanov thinks the two options for the cause now are 1) internal sabotage, which I really doubt, and 2) “impacts” of some kind. Clearly he’s revising his opinion about the possibility of a missile hit since “impacts” makes no sense. Unless he’s talking about “impacts” physically on the ship, which also makes no sense. What the hell are “impacts”?
Initially Martyanov said the various weapons were contained within decently hardened containers. Well, if one gets hit with a missile, in my opinion, that no longer applies. So even if a missile doesn’t have the ability itself to sink a ship of that size, if it hits the armament and the armament explodes, it’s exactly the same as if a fire broke out and exploded the munitions.
If you believe one is possible, you have to believe the other is possible.
The problem is identifying what actually happened. If it was a fire, fine, we’ll have to wait until an investigation on land with interrogations of the crew is completed, and possibly even an investigation under water of the remains of the ship, if that’s even possible.
Reportedly – and this seems to have vanished from the narrative – there was a Turkish drone involved with which the ship was engaged, possibly as a diversion or as a missile strike designator.
Frankly I think if the ship was hit by a missile the Russians will never acknowledge it. Because that means they missed a Neptune missile (or whatever missile was used) in the Odessa or Nikolaev area. Which means their limited objectives in the south caused them to not deal with the possibility of Ukrainian antiship missiles – which they probably assumed had not been deployed yet. If so, that means some heads will roll in the MoD. If it was a missile, this should not have happened if Russia had made sure that there was no such threat to the fleet.
Might as well forget about it. Unless someone comes up with a verified video, or Russia finds out from the crew, we’ll likely never know what happened. By Monday it will be old news.
I do voiceovers for SouthFront’s video reports. I also write extensively on propaganda, military strategy — and Biden’s War — under various names.
I don’t always agree with SouthFront’s analyses which depend on various correspondents but generally they are pretty accurate and at least point you in the right direction.
I know that some people don’t regard them highly–but they are volunteers (like me) who try to make a difference. Last night’s report covered the Moskva. SF reported that while the details weren’t known exactly, the ship had probably been hit by Neptune missiles and may have sunk due to “inclement weather”. Their report was ahead of the MoD announcement later that this was the case. SF feels that a.) there is a failure in the Russian command structure – a lack of unity — which leads to mistakes and losses b.) that the RF does not regard this as a real “war” c.) more Russian forces have to be applied, rather than the minimal force available now. These are all reasonable arguments.
However, with regard to a.) the Russian command system only lacks unity if understood by Western military standards. With the fall of the Soviet Union and the experience of the first war in Chechyna, not to mention experience in the Middle East the Russian military had to do more with less. To do that, it more or less adopted the German Auftragstaktik, which was espoused by John Boyd (“40 second Boyd”) who invented the “maneuvre combat” theory that Scott Ritter often writes about and set up the strategy to win the first Gulf War. Boyd often used Israeli military tactics to illustrate how this system worked in practice when used properly. Look here for a more complete explanation: https://charliepinto.com/post/auftragstaktik-in-one-simple-diagram.
That said, Auftragstaktik distributes responsibilities and decison-making differently from the more rigid, top-down mindset of UK and US militaries. So, it doesn’t appear “unified” in the same way. At the beginning of WWII, foreign militaries were surprised at German successes with smaller forces against the combined might of Britain and France and ascribed it to all sorts of things, better technology and so on — when it really came down to the Germans being able to apply force better, giving more flexibility and initiative to local commanders on the battlefield, and having better morale as fighting teams. OK, so that’s a.)
Now “b.)”. Do the Russians see this as a real war. The answer is yes. But they recognize that Ukraine is just one battle of a larger conflict, in essence WWIII — a global conflict that started when the US and its vassal states realized that Russia and China were threatens by virtue of their rapid development and autonomy. “World wars” never really involve the entire world — just empires with global ambitions– and they are the result of greed, inequality, and the predation of elites. Each “world war” is also shaped by technologies. in WWI, it was the advent of media propaganda, leveraging universal education, the machine gun, the submarine, and the torpedo (among other things) In WWII, it was progress in aerial weaponry, tanks, aircraft carriers, and communications.
WWIII is shaped by the limits imposed on warfare by nuclear weapons. When both sides have these weapons and delivery systems, the war cannot get physical so it devolves to economic warfare, subversion and proxy attacks. If Saddam had had WMD, he would have been safe. Just as North Korea is . Putin is smart and a student of history, not to mention an orientalist, with martial arts interests: he cannot fail to understand this war is being fought in various arenas, and it will not be over with the fall of Zelensky’s government. He must win economically by undermining the dollar and also morally by wisely eschewing the Propaganda War and sticking to principle. So, the “war” against Ukraine is characterized as an “operation”, and conducted under completely different rules than would be the case with the “West”– preserving life and property, rather than “shock & awe” destruction.
Now, “c.)” from my earlier post — Russia use of minimal force. Russia calculated its forces carefully. Set piece warfare would require a lot of troops and materiel and would be inefficient and costly — which of course is what the West wanted. It would also expose the RF to sudden attack by NATO “peacekeepers’ (or whatever they would call them). Maneuvre combat was initially costly with the RF punching through UAF lines to tide down the UAF in the West while kettling its best forces in the East and reducing their advantage in numbers from the air. Now, it is clear that the UAF is finished in the East (wack a mole time!), the RF will inject new forces into the conflict to take all of the Ukraine east of the Dniepr.
They will also have the option of striking west to the Polish border to prevent reinforcement and effectively “kettle” Kiev’s “decision-making” centers. In this conflict, the UAF WILL have some successes, such as the Moskva. But let us keep in mind that the Moskva was old, which was slated for retirement, if not scrapping in 2016, but kept on line because it was useful off Syria. But for the weather, it probably could have been saved. But it really wasn’t designed for this kind of conflict. It merely demonstrates the vulnerability of large ships of dated concept. Ummm…such as American aircraft carriers?

Disclaimer. I want Russia to win and I do believe all you say is credible, yet one option has not been ventilated yet by anyone’s site or at least as far as I have seen.
Namely, it was sunk by enemy action and all want to keep it a secret, even Nato itself. Why ?
They want to keep it a secret so as not to make NATO populations bay for more blood and put pressure on NATO admins to escalate the war to something more than a “Russia Ukro “war. The Pentagon is likely behind such a move to play down the incident. So why did it happen? Simple,Nato has to win a few rimes for their own face and to prove to Russia they are not all out defeated yet.
Why would Russia downplay it too? It has too or it loses face. It has already said Nato action will force Russia to attack Nato soldiers on their own home soil. That is a major escalation and puts pressure on Russia to do more.
We now know that the Russian people are very much committed in this war and do not want any appeasement by Russia at all. So Russia also pretends it was an accident , so as not to cross the Rubicon on the way to nuclear war.
So how was it done? Well by missile from any coast on the Black Sea even off the back of a truck or railway carriage. Or internal sabotage by a Russian sailor. It is easy to coopt any soldier. You find a weakness and exploit it; ideology ,sexual deviation, love or money or the easiest, threaten their family. The last method I can think of is a naval commando raid ie attaching a mine to the hull to blow it in or somehow coming onto the ship and placing a mine from the inside to blow it out. Yes, I know the Russians said that the explosion was going from the ship outwards into the sea. Yet, in war ,armies lie ,as do the Russians and as do Nato.
In war, flagships and major armies are lost , but they do not determine the outcomes of wars. Peace treaties do …and in the end Russia can win every battle and still lose the war and the Ukraine. Russia must win the peace ie the day after the last shot is fired. It must win economically so that it is not forced to give back any land won.It must win with its New Commodity Ruble and its associated economic and security architecture -economic and military alliances -so that people in reconquered Ukraine do not rebel and no enemies have the potential to make further trouble for it The Day After…
Wtfud and Raphael.
Agreed! And also why weren’t all the roads leading West from Donbass cratered? I can understand leaving trapped soldiers in the Donbass Pocket ONE , and only one way out ; so they don’t fight tenaciously to the death ,but why leave so many routes for new weapons and troops to come into the East?
I am also an armchair general , and know nothing , so please someone who knows more tell me what you think.
It’s also the way out and causing refugee streams might have been a major part of stratetic objectives to weaken or divide the NATO/EU states. Besides that there are more obvious reasons. Repairing roads can be done quick. Tracking (small) transports and targetting those is a kind of effort. More efficient to find out where storage, training and loading is being done. Some base, some bunker with parking garage. Observe. Then strike the concentration. However tactics might have already been adapted to split up transports into tiny chunks and not concentrating them. Like Ukraine did with its airforce. Remain mobile, create smaal support teams around one or two planes. Hide, etc.
A shrewd way to bump off Thing 1 and Thing 2 by sending them to Kiev during a false flag.
Do you have any youtube channel, if not please start making video for youtube, world needs to hear truth.
By your logic NATO and Russia can have an undercover war then? So Russia can hit a NATO asset and NATO will just keep quiet about it? I do not buy the logic.
“Russia warns U.S. to stop arming Ukraine” – Washington Post newspaper headline today.
This Washington Post article was discussed on MSNBC with S. Ruhle. A retired General said it doesn’t mean much. A retired ambassador and president of a think tank said the same thing. Gasparov said the “war strategically is lost” for Russia (chess did not make him smarter).
Russia sent a letter. Hope it is published. To send weapons is to become a participant! To become a participant is to be an adversary like Ukraine, since weapons kill soldiers. From there to WWIII is a small step. Maybe Russia is the only one who can explain this connection convincingly. Weapons are sent while saying that no war is wanted because WWIII must be avoided. The media does not point to or ask about this contradiction. We watch it with astonishment.
I have some cheerful news out of Japan. JR, Japan’s privatized national railway group, had been blocking off signs in Cyrillic in its stations for the past several weeks, that had been installed to facilitate tourism, especially with the Olympics, but they received enough complaints over this that they’ve now restored them as of today.
From my experience and observations over the past month, it was probably mostly women here who demanded any reminder of Russia be blocked. I know it sounds sexist, but they tend to respond immediately and emotionally to visual news of atrocities with no sense of proportion because they lack interest in global politics to begin with, and they think they have to do whatever they can to address the crisis. That’s my observation among my acquaintances here, anyway; and by contrast, it’s the men that are getting fed up with all the hysteria over a still small war between countries nobody over here ever cared about before.
One minor detail – you don’t drive a ship, you sail it.
War is NOT a Chess Game!
Its high time for Putin to accept this and switch to FULL WAR MODE otherwise The consequences would be disastrous
Moscow had miscalculated. It should have taken out Z at hour 0 on day 1 with a shock and awe missile strike.
There are some interesting and credible reports this was attempted with near overwhelming success using 20 attack helicopters and several transport planes targgeting Hostomel on the first day. Media barely has been able to describe how close it was over. Typical militairy scenario making: alwyas try the fast route first. Go for the throat directly. Chop off the head. It would have saved lives but from what can be read about it, near overwhelming success but in this case it was all or nothing. Ended up with nothing.
As for Z location, Kiev seemed very well prepared for such attempts and Zel was probably kept mobile or even spirited away to Poland. His appearances are a major part of the NATO strategy to change public opinions. Therefore it’s the flag that like in Stratego board games remains hidden as location.
