Hungary has just signed a 15 year contract with Russia for the delivery of Russian gas via the southern route, thus bypassing the Ukraine completely (3.5 billion cubic meters via Serbia and 1 billion cubic meters via Austria). But that is not all. The Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has stated, in so many words, that this is a sovereign decision of Hungary and that it is nobody’s business how the Hungarians will heat themselves in the winter.
This is a direct act of “disobedience” not only to the rest of the EU and NATO, this is also a “screw you” to the US.
Oh, that does not make Hungary a “friend” of Russia or Putin, not at all, this is still an EU/NATO member with all that implies. But this hopefully shows that at least one country in Europe has retained enough sovereignty to act in its own interests rather than prostituting itself to the Empire.
I am not an expert on eastern Europe, so I will let others, better qualified than myself, comment and analyze this. All I will say is that I wish the other Europeans had even 10% of the courage shown by Hungary. But, at least so far, only the Hungarians have my respect for at least trying to retain some sovereignty.
Will that set a precedent? I am not holding my breath…
Andrei
YES ! Globalisation rubbish needs a kick !
Globalism is really a deceptive name of monetary union and control under the cover of trade issues.
Every nation has been deceived on this the past 50 years.
@Santiago. What you say about Globalisation was recognized by a few thinkers a century ago. They called it Usury.
“I care not who rules a country so long as I control its currency”. — Meyer Rothschild
I’m new to the site. So far I find both the articles and the comment section interesting and refreshing. Yes I’m an American and a God fearing Christian, but not blind to the fact, at least here in this country and probably most of the west, those so called chosen ones are the real enemies. Definitly not Russia or President Putin.
God bless Russia and President Putin for standing up against the zionist America moral filth the government forces on the world.
Remember Christ said they are liars and murders. Paul the Apostle confirmed they are the killers of Christ and opposed to all people. They hated Christ and the prophets, sadly most western Christians only see them as victims of the so called holocaust and not at all as the enemy.
God bless all God fearing people and especially Russia.
Good day!
Hungary simply recognises that in a game of musical chairs those who dance to long are left without a seat once the music stops…. and winter weather proceeds.
Yes, it’s indeed laudable that Hungary, albeit just slightly, reduces the suffocating stench emanating from the Euro-trash. And it’s plain to see that if there is one American whom the Hungarians rile against almost unanimously, it’s their ”erstwhile compatriot” George Soros. Good for them and good for world progress. As long as Soros remains busy spreading his philanthropy in the US, the collapse of that s••thole country continues unsbated.
This is not just courage, but also intelligence. In contrast, the UK have just announced that they are putting all efforts into renewables to solve their energy problems, because gas is “unreliable“! To use the UK business secretary’s actual words “getting the unreliable gas off our grids”.
When the unreliable windmills and solar cells lead to electricity blackouts and lack of heating, I suggest the UK “business secretary” (whatever that may mean) should be placed on a hamster wheel and invited to make up the shortfall.
Also, Macron totally caved in and restarted the collaboration tune.
He might well be the worst piece of shit in the EU…
I think he is and I would add mario draghi also.
What do you think will happen after 2024 regarding the gas going through the ukraine? According to RT the new “strong man” in Germany Scholz said this :
“Russia must pay Ukraine to transit gas even after Nord Stream 2 pipeline operational, triumphant German SPD leader Scholz declares”.
Draghi is another WEF “Young Global Leader.”
The foundation and ‘raison d’être’ of ‘Europe’ is the ‘défense’ of the ‘liberté, égalité, fraternité’ of which France is so enamored, against the perpetual threat of the ‘Asiatique’ bestiality of the Russian/Tartars («Grattez le Russe et vous trouverez le Tartare» is an aphorism that the French still relish – they still did not come to terms with the humiliation of their greatest hero, Le Petit Caporal at the hands of the Cosaques/Tartares).
The funny thing is this: “Grattez le Russe et vous trouverez le Tartare» (scratch the surface of a Russian and you will find a Tatar/Mongol” was not intended as a compliment, to put it mildly, but it is fundamentally true. Not only are we very much mixed ethnically (with lots of Tatar blood in Russians), but culturally we are much closer to Asia than to Europe, even though our main religion (Orthodoxy) comes from the Eastern Roman Empire.
Nowadays, only 20% of Russian want to be part of Europe or consider themselves European (sorry, I saw the poll, but I did not write down who polled and where this was posted).
If that is of interest to you, I discuss that here: /could-there-be-a-grain-of-truth-in-the-ukrainian-propaganda/
Kind regards
Andrei
Sure it was not intended as a ‘compliment’, but it was derogatory (btw, the author of the quip was not Napoleon but Joseph de Maistre – the Jesuit cum Mason long time Ambassador of the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia to Russia, who made himself insufferable by his insistence to convert the Russians to Catholicism, which led to his eventual expulsion from Russia).
So far as I am aware, there were more Tartars converted to Christianity (which is culturally ‘european’) than Russians to Islam or Buddhism (culturally ‘asiatic’).
So far as I am aware, there were more Tartars converted to Christianity (which is culturally ‘european’) than Russians to Islam or Buddhism (culturally ‘asiatic’).
European Christianity is not only not similar to Orthodox Christianity, but is its diametical opposition.
Our Christianity is Roman and Rome, the real Rome, was destroyed by the Franks, and THEY, the Franks, created “European Christianity”
But yes, many Tatars became Orthodox, including a ancestor of mine :-)
cheers
The problem is the ambiguous use of the terms ‘Europe’, ‘Europeans’, ‘European’, ‘Christianity’, ‘Christianism’. To be a Christian means to confess that Jesus Christ ”is come in the flesh”, who ”denieth that Jesus is the Christ, is a liar. He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son”. ‘European Christianity’ (i.e. Roman-Catholicism and Protestantism) and the ‘culture’ it produced are not ‘diametrically opposed’ to Orthodoxy, because they don’t deny that Jesus is Christ. ‘Europe’ (i.e. the product of ‘Enlightenment’) ceased to be Christian and is indeed diametrically opposed to Orthodoxy.
Schism of 1054
1054 was just the climax of a process begun at least 2 centuries before.
“.1054 was just the climax of a process begun at least 2 centuries before.”
Of course, but the historical consequences are crucial….
My “opinion” – roughly simplified: (deepl.com/translator – german-english)
From the originally ancient civilization of the Mediterranean area, with its Roman climax, first two, later three new ones have emerged:
– the Christian – Catholic one with Rome as its spiritual center
– the Islamic one with Mecca (Medina?)
– the Christian (Orthodox) with Byzantium/Constantinople – after its fall – via Kiev – finally Moscow.
And just as the Balkans were for centuries the conflictual “gray zone” between Christians and Muslims, Poland-Lithuania, Galicia, played a similar role in the conflict between Catholics and Orthodox….
Of course, “underneath” the real – socio-economic – civilization processes took place. At that time there were still “many worlds”, even if they did not exist completely isolated from each other…
And Protestantism is a history of its own. It was not only important for the liberation of the ancient sciences, which were locked in the monasteries and partly saved by Byzantium, but it opened the church for humanism/liberalism, for the spiritual overcoming of the collapse of the “order willed by God”, for which the great plague epidemics were in any case partly responsible…
I suspect even before 2024 that Ukraine Pipe line will become too old to use and dangerous leaving the Zio-Germans Russian Phobes to shut up and Ukraine starved of $6 billion short fall per year usually shipped to Europe and the US.
We now wait on how the weather unfold as the Cold returns and EU stalling approval the use of Nord Stream 2. They are becoming more unpopular as the Cold bites as they deny approval.
To Laurent
They can declare whatever the f**k they want, it’s all just noise. “Ukranian” transit will NOT be re-newed and the so-called “Europe” better get ready to be totally dependent on good will from Gazprom! These euro-shmocks are still not grasping the reality, which is by now staring them right in their stupid, corrupted, sold-out faces. Hungary, unfortunately, produced the biggest effing parasite on the planet, i.e. Soros, but I think they are trying to redeem themselves and in that, I believe we have to give them every support we can. : )
@Katerina
It turned out that Hungary’s ”Great Satan” (mind the initials) was a blessing in disguise. He is more than anybody else orchestrating the collapse of that s••thole country USA from within and enjoys it passionately, watching these flag-waving, gun-toting, and bible-thumping fools never confronting him and his Open Society Foundation, screaming about Russia/China/Iran/Venezuela etc. instead.
”These euro-shmocks are still not grasping the reality, which is by now staring them right in their stupid, corrupted, sold-out faces.”
Russophobia is too dear to these adorable folks. Amusingly, they are also antagonizing their most faithful, grovelling Russophobic plaything which is Gównopolska. Euro-shmoks can’t seem to do anything right, LOL.
” ’Russia must pay Ukraine to transit gas even after Nord Stream 2 pipeline operational’, triumphant German SPD leader Scholz declares”
Sinon quoi? Really, this has to be a tremendously difficult choice for Russia: Let the hideous Euro-trash freeze or pay a depopulating, Nazi-infested Russophobic asylum to keep the Euro-trash heated. Grattez l’Européen et vous trouverez rien, mdr.
’Russia must pay Ukraine to transit gas even after Nord Stream 2 pipeline operational’, triumphant German SPD leader Scholz declares”
Stupid! In case, who will pay the bill for the transit would be the final consumers/user of the gas, i.e., the Germans and others west europeans…
Scholz is a US stooge. A better question is why is North Stream 1 running at half capacity since it opened? The answer is the EU has some nutty rule that multiple countries must participate in providing gas so Gazprom is limited to 50% capacity. I wonder how this is going to play with North Stream 2?
As for Russia giving in out of pity, that isn’t going to happen particularly after the latest diplomatic blow-up from Borrell, yet another US stooge. However, Norway and the Netherlands are going to start production again. But, the prices set in Denmark (when the EU again stupidly disconnected gas prices from oil so as to have a “free market) will remain. We still don’t know what Hungary is paying but Szilard did state it is a far better deal than they had before. Belarus is paying $125 so it is probably similar. The EU though will have to pay market prices as they set these themselves which yesterday was $1,200. Capacity is limited by production and Moscow must refill its own storage tanks for the forthcoming winter and that is estimated to take 6 weeks or more. In the meantime Asian nations are willing to pay more so the market is driving deliveries. The US fantasy to provide LNG to Europ has turned out to be unreliable which should come as no surprise to anyone. Many US LNG producers in the US went bankrupt when prices got too low. Maybe a new stimulus bill can re-open them?
That is yet another problem the insane printing of money as if it doesn’t matter. It looks to me like all the economists in the US got COVID and suffered significant damage to their brains. MMT was invented by William Mosler a Hedge Fund analyst who had a 2.4 GPA in college. It is based on Keynes’s stuff which is a farce to begin with. Believing that issuing massive national debt doesn’t lead to inflation is insane. I am saddened as all our capital comes from the US (I have 3 US government pensions) plus our investments, all in US dollars. How soon it all collapses is the big question. Under “The Biden” it may be soon. Looking for change from the Republicans is another fantasy so as far as I can see the US is doomed to suffer the same collapse the Soviet Union will but without the benefits of socialism for the people to fall back on. I wonder how many illegal immigrants will leave the US once the guns start blazing?
Well, since Germany is getting the benefit of Russian gas with NS2, why doesn’t Germany pay Ukraine. Nice of them to be so generous with other country’s money.
Yes.
One of the WEF’s “Young Global Leaders.”
Geppetto could not have created a more perfect boy. The nose growing is a little troublesome though. I have heard France signed a mutual defense pact with Greece designed to reign in Turkey a bit. I wonder if the boy genius still believes he can lead an EU army that will replace NATO?
He is a pure construct of the financial elite coming all from the tribe which can’t be named; a replicant from Phil Dick’s novels; see this for example where some details are provided as to how his official biography is likely fake, redacted retroactively, https://www.egaliteetreconciliation.fr/Le-temps-des-assassins-et-l-hologramme-Macron-Xavier-Poussard-repond-aux-questions-de-Rivarol-65528.html
He totally is. He only rose to power as he is being sponsored by the Rothschilds. He works on their agenda. He started his career in a Rothschild bank ans got recognition for signing a deal with Pfizer. Since then he rose politically.
“getting the unreliable gas off our grids”.”
that is absurd.
Maybe they are thinking of fracked LNG from the USA.
Or somewhere.
I thought the main argument for gas from Russian pipelines was reliability (as long as not passing through the territory of the unhinged such as the Ukraine).
Indeed I thought the main project of the EU was to relabel this reliability as “dangerous reliance on” Russian gas and force Russia into ridiculous gyrations that upset the whole reliability/investment in pipeline infrastructure apple cart.
Now, with Nord Stream 2, problem solved! And I expect with the southern route, too.
How about some very, very reliable woolen blankets for them cold winter nights to be in the U.K.?
Also, as I predict fur coats will most fashionable this winter in London, may I suggest Louisiana Nutria fur coats . Not only are they warm, Nutria furring benefits the environment by keeping nutria populations in check.

Hi Andrei, good points—agree. See my (somewhat lengthy) take over at
https://fackel.substack.com/p/more-on-germany
Hungry is a special case isn’t it? They don’t take mass immigration laying down, they endanger human rights by not letting LBGQTP+++ propaganda in their media, and now they buy gas from Russia? Who do they think they are? Brussels will have to deal with them sooner or later. Surely Orbán fears the EU bureaucracy, right?
Who died and left Brussels Maestro?
Andrei My Orthodox Brother,
I read on Southfront that Vucic in Serbia is asking for KFOR/NATO to protect the remaining Serb enclaves in Kosovo, is that true? Is he really that much of a Western stooge that he would call on the same people who butchered Serbs and dismembered Yugoslavia to just roll into Serb enclaves in Kosovo?
As for Hungary I heard the Ukrainian government tried to derail this deal between Budapest and Gazprom. The Hungarians are supposedly furious with Kiev right now. Probably there will be some provocations against the Hungarian minority in Ukraine to follow.
About Vucic and KFOR/NATO I don’t know.
But about Hungary and the Ukraine, yes, they are on a collision course.
Kind regards
Andrei
You are taking the discussion off-topic. Please take to the MFC. Mod.
At the moment it is hard to know what is Vucic doing. What has been reported is that Serbian army has deployed some forces that includes armoured vehicles and tanks at the administrative border. Also, Serbian air force has dispatched its M35 helicopters as well as some jets to fly attack runs on the deployed Kosovo police unit. At the moment this has only initiated the comment form Albanian government, officially requesting the Serbian army retreat away from the administrative border.
Its good news of course.
The Hungarians built a cross-border interconnection at the Hungary- Serbia border.
https://seenews.com/news/serbia-hungary-complete-construction-of-cross-border-gas-link-746581
“We can already say that from October 1, we will be able to transport the first quantities of transit gas to Central Europe via Serbia. In order to achieve this, many technical and regulatory details had to be resolved in Brussels, in the Energy Community and with national regulatory bodies, and we did it with great success,” the general manager of Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic, said in a statement on Sunday.”
So how did the Hungarians clear that with EU regulatory authorities, while NS 2 is mired in red tape? It’s the same Russian gas, just a different pipeline…
How was NS2 built without all the necessary approvals?
Serbian Girl,
An important component of the new arrangements is the diversification of supply routes. As early as from October 1, Hungary will start receiving Gazprom’s gas via TurkStream and the gas pipelines of southeastern Europe. This was made possible to a large extent through the efforts of Bulgarian, Serbian and Hungarian companies in charge of developing the national gas transmission systems,” said Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, in connection with the signing of these contracts.
https://www.gazprom.com/press/news/2021/september/article538440/
So, Serbia assisted. They are getting their gas up from Turkey-Bulgaria.
Here’s a Gazprom map: https://wognews.net/images/site/2016/04/SOUTH-STREAM-2.jpg
Amusing to see Crimea shown as Ukraine’s in the Gazprom map. Even the mapping app on my iPad is showing a disputed boundary line separating Crimea from the Ukraine but Gazprom is content to flatter the EU.
That is because the map is about the old SouthStream (pre Coup). The gas flows through Turkstream. Mod.
Then let’s hope that the party, who was in power in Bulgaria last year won’t come back with majority in the elections in November – they are essemtially US/EU lapdogs and it was them, who cancelled South Stream after “consulation” with US senators.
Every major party in Bulgaria is Western lapdog my friend ;)
Unfortunately, that’s true. And many of them care more about the western, US foremost, interests than those of the bulgarians. Given how the events turned the last few months, one almost wishes to continue with the caretaker government and to forego with the so called National Assembly entirely.
@Serbian Girl: “So how did the Hungarians clear that with EU regulatory authorities, while NS 2 is mired in red tape?”
During the War an international team of physicists was set up to work on the Anglo bomb. They gave us this definition of Hungarian: A Hungarian is a man who goes into a revolving door after you and comes out before you”.
My wife is a red haired Canadian of Hungarian descent. There’s a lot of fire there. It would be great if Canada had some of it.
Pipelinestan strikes again! But then we knew this would eventually happen with the building of TurkStream. Good points made about the regulatory ease of this project versus NS2.
Free markets are the integral aspect of a democracy . So Hungary is exercising their democratic right.
Let’s not forget that this southern route, mentioned by RT, doesn’t originate in Serbia. Because, before the natgas reach Serbia, it must first go through Turkey and Bulgaria.
Now, I’m pretty sure that Turkey would play nice – for them it’s just business.
So this depends on how the elections in Bulgaria would go – if the party, which was in power last year win the elections in November there is a very good possibility that Bulgaria would start making problems – they used to be and still are US lapdogs, and it was them who cancelled South Stream after “consulation” with US senators.
I don’t see this as “disobedience” or a “screw you”. It just looks like common-sense business to me. Like Nordstream 2 for Russia and Germany. No real politics here that I can see. Orban seems to be a quite dull, phlegmatic and pragmatic man who loves his country. Perfect for his people at this time when, across Europe, there are way too many leaders succumbing to ideological fantasies and forgetting that they were elected to serve their own people, first and foremost.
“No real politics here that I can see.”
Except for the fact that the gas pipeline issue in Europe, is one of the most controversial & disputed factors where EU-Russia relations are concerned, & this overlaps into NATO-Russia relations & US-Russia relations also. The gas pipelines are totally politicized & Victor Orban is very much aware of this, much more than any of us are – so he absolutely knew that what he was doing would be viewed with outright hostility by the EU & the Atlanticist 5th column in Europe more generally. So this is very much a political decision, as well as a business/economics/common sense decision. If you wish to know how politicized this is, before jumping to conclusions, just look at how the EU has responded & go from there. The EU has totally condemned Hungary for this, & Orban in particular, as he knew they would, but he did it anyway, much to his credit.
Perhaps we have a different notion of “politics” in mind here. I had in mind a politics whereby national leaders soberly, carefully and comprehensively consider the needs and interests of their people and assume that other national leaders do the same. Thereby, those leaders can sit across a table and identify where their interests align, conflict or are irrelevant to the discussion. From there they can begin to negotiate. Of course, the other notion of politics is to see it simply as a mechanism for identifying and sorting out differences in power and the concessions that can be extracted on the basis of those differences. Perhaps that is the politics you have in mind. The distinction between these two notions of politics lies at the heart of the current transition from a unipolar to a multipolar geostrategic system. It seems to me that Orban and Hungary are exercising the courage of their convictions in a multipolar future. I say good on them. Cheers Srbalj.
But common sense nowdays in all its forms IS a “disobedience” and “screw you” to the Anglosphere.
I agree, this is crazy and makes no sense.
But in the age of Wokism, reality is basically denied, insanity almost omnipresent and common sense a form of “thought crime”.
Soon saying 2+2=4 will be a major thoughtcrime since it lacks “inclusivity” (results like 3, 700 or 1^321)…
Others will follow. NATO has no future in Europe. The EU will only have a fortunate one if Brussels restricts itself to administering the three liberties (freedom of trade, freedom of capital movement, freedom of personal movement) which are beneficial and stops interfering in sovereign member states’ affairs.
Regrettably, the EU has turned into Soviet Union 2.0.
And the people from Eastern Europe (well, excluding the politicians, who are on EU’s feeding bank) remember too well what the live was under the thumb of the original SU.
I am not so sure, but I DO very much hope that you are right.
How do you see as a possible candidate for sanity in Europe?
Even the Swiss have now gone batshit crazy!
I would say this: the next country might be one which does not suffer for a massive inferiority complex (the Hungarians clearly don’t suffer of it as much as any other country in Europe).
I have one candidate, but a very controversial one and maybe I am day dreaming.
France.
There STILL is a deep patriotic (as opposed to nationalist) streak in the French people, particularly those who have disconnected their brains from the official parties and their propaganda.
The French military was called “the great silent one” until French generals started warning that the country was on the edge of a civil war.
I know that in the Anglo world people like to call the French weak and cowards and seeing Macron only reinforces that. But that is a myth born out of Anglo hatred and contempt for the (mostly Latin) French culture and people. I think that dismissing the French is a very misguided thing and with the right mix of events, there might be a uprising in France. Not all of the spirit of pride and love for France has been evaporated and replaced by BHL or Macron.
But maybe this is my love for France speaking, time will show.
If Mr. Zemmour happens to be President, the sovereignty of France will be greater than that of Hungary and probably he will at least leave the integrated command of NATO. It will also turn as it has already declared towards Russia.
I disagree. I think Zemmour is a typical National-Zionist who will do what the CRIF and the Grand Orient want.
He is also a coward (never accepted to debate Alain Soral, a real French patriot and philosopher).
Besides, for what party would Zemmour run anyway?
This guy is a fraud. A hardcore Zionist.
And Russia is also building a nuclear power plant in Hungary
Money talks and bovine scatology walks. The orcs have a nasty habit of stealing roughly 20% of whatever gas passes through their tubes, been that way for years, written off as ‘technical gas to power the pumps and such’. Depending on her mood Mother does sometimes make the orcs pay, this to the loud screams from Kiev, but they do pay in the end.
Europe is staring a rapidly approaching and predicted severe winter with precious little time to fill the gas storage facilities. This is their own fault, pure and simple, and if they don’t get NS2 certified soon there’s going to be a choice in some EU countries of either houses and flats heated or industry working. Hobson’s Choice on steroids and again no one’s fault but the much vaunted and rapidly failing ‘eu’.

As for me, the move of Mr. Orban is natural, logical and expectable.
What other to do when the gas knocks at the door?
The Turk Stream is ex-South Stream, although along slightly different route, the both go across Bulgaria.
We all remember that the same Bulgaria spoiled the South Stream (2014, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Stream for details) under the pressure of the EU (read Washington). Now it permited the Turk Stream. This indicates heavy decay of the US influence.
Moreover, Bulgaria permited flights of the whole fleet of Antonovs full of S400 and Panthsirs heading to military drills in Serbia last year. Just to remind you – Bulgaria is a NATO member.
Of course, Bulgaria was not alone.
Germany persistently has been pushed the NorthStream 2, (read as North Dream2 if you whish), along with all sanctions, hard words, russophobia etc., and finally managed it.
One thing are your obligations, quite another is a real life. We hate Russia but we love (and need badly) gas.
It seems that the WWII is getting to be closed.
Mr. Orban is quarrelsome (gentle)man, from the Brussell’s point of view. Every other day some threats and raggings are delivered to his address.
Take it, for example, in this way: let it be someone who can and dare to say or to do something what I can’t do or say. It is not a matter of our previous agreement or plan – simply I make him a room, without a single word to do that, and he feels the room and does it (according his interests, and, hence, mine).
Whatever are legal, administrative etc aspects of PUTINg the NorthStream2 into operation, all these are trifles. He is there, winter is there, EU industry is there etc.
Poland and Ukraine are encompassed and, hence, isolated.
Whoever was nervous and impatient because of Mr. Putin’s mild moves now sees its meaning and intention. Let the rotten apple fall down itself. Maybe there would be certain new Newton to discover a law of geo-gravity which governs all things.
As we all know, besides the NorthStream 2, there is also a (almost high-speed) railway corridor between Berlin and Beijing, over Russia.
Let us call it the North Rail 1. On the other hand, there is also (let us call it) the South Rail 1 (Piraeus-Greece to Budapest) (under construction). One of its sections goes along so-called Preshevo valley. Apart from Kosovo (more precisely: Kosovo and Metohia (KaM) – interesting to note, both names are purely Serbian), as the main goal, this transport ‘strait’ is very important not only to Serbia, but much broader.
There we come across to Mr. Vucic, and crissis on the North of KaM. Everywhere, where you can make a mess, make it – very well known ‘strategy’ of Washington.
One can think of Mr. Vucic whatever he wants, but his main task is to buy the time, until big things settle down. Who could expect such swift development in Afghanistan? Iraq is on his turn.
Another reason why Orban’s moves on the gas supply front are so controversial, from an EU/US/NATO/Atlanticist perspective, because this revives the South/Turk Stream project & also strengthens Serbia – which for the combined west, is particularly blasphemous. Anything that elevates Serbia a little is for the Atlanticist 5th column absolutely reprehensible, from their point of view, Serbia is to be destroyed, its populace eliminated, one way or another, & so Orban’s other sin is cooperating with Serbia & assisting in its recovery & empowerment.
That could be an explanation why you see troubles brewing in Serbia. The ‘Kossovo war’ of 1998-99 was, to my mind, related to the project of the pipe-line Constanta-Trieste, which would have been the most direct and economic way of delivering the gas from Russia to Europe. Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia would have profited enormously.
I think Serbia is a double bonus for the US. It pisses off Russia and permits some attempts to sabotage South Stream. The Kosovo carve out from Serbia is another and there is plenty of evidence that ISIS, particularly the Uigyars, were trained through Camp Bondsteel. Why does the US have two bases in Kosovo an otherwise insignificant place run by people equally insane as the Ukrainians?

Increasingly I think it is in great part because Kosovo is so key to Orthodox identity of Serbians?? Their oldest roots and numerous old monasteries, churches and icons are present here. Please Serbians correct me if I misremembered.
So it is designed to demoralize and to erase their religious-cultural history, just as with attack on Ukraine, which may similar objective towards Russians (old Kievan-Rus).
From an old Anglo-Saxon playbook, to remold a target people by attacking their most sacred shared memories
Expect the ”Globo-Homo brigade” to pull off some pathetic stunts in Hungary. Not that it will change the course of events but these perverts have to make a case for their funding.
Despite Hungary’s membership in EU and NATO, Orban’s reign there is similar to the governments of Russia and Belarus. The outlook for colour revolutions is grim. National interest and national unity trump ’European values’. Good that Hungary is taking issue with the Ukronazis.
A small rebuke about wording:
The Saker writes:
. –
“I am not an expert on eastern Europe, ”
,
States like Polen, Former East Germany, Slovakia or Estonia and Finland and cities Helsingfors, Riga, Vilnius, Istanbul, Lvov and Bucaresti alike are all mostly situated to the west of the geographic centre of Europe, which lies in the extreme souteastern corner of Lithuania. Thus “Eastern Europe” is only European Russia, 1/7th each of Norway and Finland, all of Anatolia, all of Bielarus and most of The Ukraine.
.
This may appear un.imprtant, but it has something to say for the national conciousnesses of the folks who live there.
Also: We read in US media abøut some looming conflict between “China” and “Taiwan”, which is untrue: Taiwan haz no armed forces . The military stationed on Táiwan island (a Chinese province) and some islands on the coast of Fújiàn province are all troops subject to the Republic of China, which is vacationing on Táwan and a few other islets for the time being. This should never be forgotten or deleted from the story.
oh yes, many of us Sami/half Sami people do not see ourselves as European.
that makes perfectly good sense to me, by the way.
Thumbs up!
I was talking culture, civilization, not geography. Geographically everything West of the Urals and the Bosphorus would be “Europe”.
But that is like calling the Maghreb “Africa” or placing Ethiopia and Botswana in the same civilizational realm.
And even Eastern Europe are Europeans only in name. BTW – this is not a bad thing at all, I do not mean that in any derogatory way. Just that as a person born in Switzerland and who lived in Europe about half my life, I know at eastern Europeans and very different (in many ways) from western Europeans.
I even think that northern Europe and southern Europe are really different civilizationally with France torn between the two.
The “real Europe” (at least for me) is what used to be the western Europe (minus the UK which was never European to begin with).
@ Saker, you said: “…(minus the UK which was never European to begin with)“. Could you please clarify this? I always thought that the UK was part of Western Europe.
Not culturally: I lived for 2 decades in the UK (after spending my formative years in Africa), and I couldn’t wait to get out of the UK. I’ve lived and worked in a handful of European countries: Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland (and I married a German.) None are anything like living in the UK, especially from a cultural perspective.
Yes, there might be a rail tunnel linking the UK to France, but that means very little. It’s like saying that there’s just a river separating Mexico from the US; the culture over the border is very different, despite its locality. Since it is the UK that’s the odd one out, it is logical to say that the Brits aren’t Western Europeans, rather than saying that Western Europeans aren’t Brits. :)
Russlad should not supply gas to Europe for half a year from today.
Saker, I am a Hungarian and we have no choice. either we stand up for ourselves or we can kiss goodby to our country.
Dear friend,
Please know one thing: if Hungary manages to break free, Russia will support that both economically and politically, and not because anybody in Russia wants to re-invade Hungary, but because it is in Russia’s interest to deal with sovereign countries, even if they don’t agree with Russia on many things, rather than pauperized prostitutes of the Empire.
I often get told be East Europeans that I don’t respect them. My reply is always the same: PLEASE give me ONE reason to respect you. They always get pissed and start accusing me of (fill the blank here).
In Russia there is more respect for the USA, which at least defend their own interests (setting aside the Israeli exception, of course) than for the EU lackeys of Uncle Shmuel.
And China, I believe, will also help ANY country trying become not even pro-Chinese, but sovereign.
I just hope that the AngloZionist propaganda machine will now throw its full weight against Hungary. That is my biggest fear. This machine successfully brainwashed all of Europe, from the Atlantic to the Urals for DECADES and it is very very hard to undo that, especially for a medium sized country which is not a superpower. And even in Russia, the AngloZionist propaganda was swallowed and believed in the 80s and 90s and is still active nowadays (though much weakened thanks to Putin).
I have no personal dog in this fight, but when I heard your foreign minister yesterday I though “good, more power to you and may Hungary full become truly free and truly sovereign in the near future!”.
The key is this: will most people in Hungary understand that this not about gas, this is, as you correctly pointed out, about survival as a country, nation and culture?
I don’t know, but I will be hoping that they do with all my heart!
Andrei
If I have to guess, I’d say that the eastern europeans get angry at you mostly because you tend to put an equal sign between the people themselves and the politicians in the respective countries. And these are two very different species.
For example, the people in my country – Bulgaria – were never asked if they want to join NATO or EU – the politicos, who we trusted carry people’s will, sold us out not even for 30 pieces of silver, but just for a tap on their collective shoulders. And, despite, what “official” polling agencies and MSMs say, if a referendum is held if we wish to leave NATO and/or EU, the larger part of the bulgarians will vote to leave.
The equal sign between people and politicians needs to be abolished, then there will be nothing else for it but to think qualitatively, constructively and realistically about peoples and governance, economies and cultures.
One thinks always in this old form and is attached to it like a limpet, out of fear, nothing else. Any attempt to sever the connection meeting with still greater tenacity, but God and Nature are greater than humans and will force into being what has to happen, and this I await in dread, praying every day for world peace and inner strength.
I’d say that the eastern europeans get angry at you mostly because you tend to put an equal sign between the people themselves and the politicians in the respective countries.
That is not the case. But I DO blame the people themselves for not resisting, not protesting and, especially, believing in all that shit.
I have absolutely nothing against any race, nationality, ethnicity or culture, but I see those who DO resit and those who do not.
For them the best way to prove me wrong is to do something along the lines of what the Hungarians did by electing leaders with at least some dignity and courage.
I just heard that Orban basically said to the Urkonazi Ukies (who now are threatening the Hungarian minority in the Ukraine and even making sounds about “punishing” Hungary) to “get lost”, along with the head of his administration and his foreign minister :-)
They also repeated that “Hungary is a sovereign country”.
Lastly, they said that Hungary will veto the Ukraine’s access to NATO!
Good for them!
That I can respect.
“For them the best way to prove me wrong is to do something along the lines of what the Hungarians did by electing leaders with at least some dignity and courage.”
I don’t know about the other eastern european nations, but I think that we, Bulgarians, did precisely that 5 years ago, when we elected our current president, despite all the efforts of the ruling party – a bunch of cleptocrats very much like the US Democrats. Unfortunately, under Bulgarian Constitution, what the BG president could do is very limited, but, unlike his predecesors, General Radev at least is trying.
And I believe we, bulgarians, found a work around – under bulgarians laws, a regular governent is elected by the National Assembly, and as you can imagine such governents are usually staffed with corrupted politicos to the hilt. The ministers in the caretaker governments, like the one we currently have, on the other hand are selected by the president, they’re usually specialists in their respective areas and they report to the president, no the National Assembly (most of them are also apolitical and they don’t care much about their public image). The main purpose of such caretaker governent is defined to ensure proper elections, however, during its tenure it also is expected to carry out the duties of a regular government.
Now, on the last two elections, we elected deputies from different parties with such opposite ideologies in proportions, that made it practically impossible to staff a regular government. Which allowed the caretaker government to continue its work (and they did a very good job unraveling corrupt practices of the former ruling party). With luck, we may continue to do so.
It’s not exactly an outright and open rebelion, it’s more like a stand-alone complex – the unrelated actions of unrelated individuals produce a result which looks like an organized and well coordinated effort. But it seems to work. Of course, it’s not something flashing or newsworthy like protests and bloodsheds on the street, but it actually does a better job.
You know, probably better than myself, that open and organized protests have one very big disadvantage – they give an authority with leanings toward totalitarism something it could recognize and attack – a target. But hundreds of thousands of unrelated people merely using they lawful right to vote – well, that’s something that no authority could fight, if it wishes to retain at least some pretence for democracy.
You also will not see many bulgarians arguing against policies, promoted by MSMs, or other such things. During the socialism we had a saying: безсмислено е да се спори с радиоточка. Roughly translated it means: it’s meaningless to argue with a radio (there weren’t many TVs back in those days). It’s modern version would be – it’s meaningless to argue with a TV set – everyone here knows that whatever the MSMs are saying is a complete BS, but nobody sees a reason to waste time and efforts to argue about it.
My point is, that the fact you don’t see an outright opposition in a certain country, it doesn’t mean it’s not there – it simply could mean that such opposition has no need to advertise itself and, even, it may not be an organization as people understand the term.
What Western European (Germany is one of the worst offenders) “powers” are currently doing with the gas (among other things) is absolutely insane.
What are they going to do? They are really acting as though they are about or trying to go to war against Russia again to steal their resources. They are creating a terrible situation for themselves (and full blown blaming it on Russia) to make this their only option for surviving industrially and even physically as nations and a union. No reasonable or self-interested entity would ever act like this.
I expect that a lot of trouble will be stirred by the “partners” in the near future.
Hungary is not stupid but one in no way needs to be genius to be doing what they are doing. They are trying as much as they can to protect themselves from the outcomes of this “Western rabies”.
The West not only failed to turn Ukraine into a Westen-type clone, but they ended up turning themselves into a copy of Ukraine… The Ukranization of the entire West is happening. The expansionist power of stupidity and insanity is impressive. Apparently, there’s good ground in the west for such garbage to grow and “prosper”.
Just watched the MSM Evening News with Lukashenko as ”tonight’s villain”. The Swedish Eurocrats are angry because Lukashenko and Belarus don’t act as the border guards of the EU, but instead ”keep weaponizing refugees” with trouble ensuing in Gównopolska, Lithuania, and Latvia. It struck me that this is exactly where Orban too could contribute most handsomely in boosting the temper tantrums of this adorable lot.
Back in 2015 when Erdogan was doing quite the same thing (but with no innocence on his part), Orban did his best to stop the refugee torrents from reaching Western Europe. He shouldn’t have done that. Hopefully, he now feels quite inspired watching what Lukashenko is doing. To wit: Pass on the crowds to the great philanthropists who have so much love for the human race. Also, it’s the EU which the migrants have set sight upon.
Well done Hungry and Russia !
A glove in the face of Merkel and Macron.
I think the reality is now the old USSR Eastern Bloc needs to be resumed in some form as its become clear the western bloc, originally known as the EEC and now called the EU, has not been the great thing it was thought to be. It has cost the eastern bloc more than it has got in many ways both in material terms and interference from Brussels and those elites in Germany, France and Holland who control Brussels..
A complete re-think of the arrangements needs to happen.
I think the reality is now the old USSR Eastern Bloc needs to be resumed
God forbid!! :-)
Neither the East Europeans nor the Russians need or want that.
Also, same causes bring same results.
What Europe really needs is a community of SOVEREIGN nations, like what de Gaulle wanted.
Why should a Pole or a Romanian want his country run by Russians?
Why would a Russian want to deal with Polish or Romanian problems (Russians have enough internal problems to keep them busy for a very long time).
No, that would be just aping the Soviet ear or NATO.
Zone B is an composed of free and sovereign nations, not formal alliances or, God forbid, a new form of imperialism.
Finally please be aware that by suggesting this your are, unwillingly, helping NATO and the US with their bullshit about a “Russian threat”. Let the trannies in the EU rave about that, but not serious people :-)
Kind regards
Andrei
Q: Why should a Pole or a Romanian want his country run by Russians?
A: Don’t know about Romania except that it’s a very poor country, but Gównopolska thus far hasn’t had a single independent government this century. A government on Moscow’s payroll there would mean no more power for the CIA and the Vatican but appreciably more power to the Poles to influence their own domestic politics. Granted, that might seem way too scary for them, LOL.
I was not thinking of it in terms of Russia running a new Eastern Bloc but a group of them acting with consensus of their own national interests which in many cases is the same.
Saker (Andrei),
per my other reply to Nussiminen, this not about such a new Eastern Bloc being under Russian control but their own ideas which may agree with Russia on most things.
So there is no Russian “devil” or invented threat to EU or NATO in such a bloc forming.
I suppose what I mean is there should be 2 “EUs” – western and eastern, but not a union – as you say sovereign states in some form of alliance.
Im sure most of the people in old eastern bloc countries would like to exit the EU – its only some of their corrupt leaders who on the payroll of the EU who are holding them there. They dont want people from the western EU controlling their lives.
Poland is a problematic issue anyway because it has had conflicts both with Russia & Germany before WW2.
I can add my 2 cents here as we retired to Hungary. Hungary is a complicated place with a complicated history. They screwed themselves after the breakup of the Soviet Union by cutting off exports to Russia who at that time was their sole customer for exports of agriculture. Then they eagerly joined the EU (much as they eagerly joined Nazi Germany) expecting to be treated as equals. But, to this day Hungary, like all former Soviet sphere countries in East Europe, are second-class citizens. The immediate effect of joining the EU was a complete shutdown of all factories, mines, etc. which did not meet ISO 9000 safety specifications and would require billions to get there. These former strong companies many of which produced goods for the entire Soviet Union like all busses came from Icarus, and televisions/radios from Videoton as examples were shut down permanently. Others were snapped up for pennies on the dollar and changed names such as the automobile manufacturing plant in Gyor that now produces ICE engines for VW/Audi. The list goes on and on. You will find European goods flooding the shelves of the groceries here but no Hungarians products to be found in EU countries.
The membership in the EU cuts both ways though. Orban himself was a protege of Soros and the FIDEZ party used to be neo-liberals. The first term was awful and a complete disaster but followed by even worse governments so FIDEZ evolved into center-right conservatives and took back the governance of the country and Soros became persona non grata in Hungary. The re-oriented FIDEZ gained a supermajority in Parliament and reversed many of the changes and re-wrote the constitution. They also had to form a coalition with the nutty Christians and for a time closed all shops on Sundays which was met with absolute resistance by the people so changed back in 6 months. Hungary purports to be a country with strong Christian values but in fact 80% of the population are atheists. Anyway, Orban got his moment in the sun when Merkel released the floodgates of immigrants (none of who were political refugees but all were economic refugees who do not qualify for refugee status under EU law). Hungary very quickly built a wall encircling the country and built a camp for processing these immigrants. Hungary has had a historical hatred of Muslims since the Turkish occupation and resultant genocide of Hungarians by the Turks) so Muslims will never be welcome here. Keeping them out was the key feature to keep the population here happy. All the opposition parties in one form or another are Soros linked and will open the borders again which will never be tolerated. This is a hard fact. Hungarians are very set in their ways and why is this so much trouble for the EU to understand. Many other countries are similar but the majority of EU leaders are all bought and paid for by the US who controls everything coming out of Brussels.
Back to my point, the EU requires a 100% agreement of votes, and Hungary with Poland play off each other forcing the EU to moderate. There used to be others as well such as Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Slovakia but these have had more compliant governments installed (with NGO interference). Hungary and Poland stand together to fend off expulsion from the EU. Hungary has expelled all NGOs and foreign influence (Soros’s University as an example) to keep its population free from US propaganda. Hungary under Obama was in fact fending off the US and that evil nutbag McCain visited Hungary 3 times threatening awful repercussions for having renewed ties to Russia again. Hungary plays a very dangerous game balancing between the EU puppets, Russia, and the US. Under Trump, they enjoyed a period of relaxation and actual friendly relations but the US is back with a vengeance now under “The Biden” neocons. This will be a hard time for Hungary as US efforts can be brutal and include assassinations.
When one looks at Ukraine and its problems caused by the Ukronazis it becomes a morass. The Treaty of Trianon took away 70% of Hungarian lands and gave them along with its residents to a variety of countries. These Hungarians living in places like Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, and Ukraine have never assimilated and kept their Hungarian language and customs even after 100 years. Hungarians are very stubborn people and very strong-willed. Orban, to increase his supporters, gave Hungarian citizenship including passports to all former Hungarians living in these neighboring countries and they vote in Hungary. This was seen by Hungarians as loyal support and received very positively. The countries involved, particularly Romania and Ukraine are very upset about it. The Ukrainian law forbidding the speaking of any language other than Ukrainian affected Hungarians living in Ukraine. The Ukronazis hate them just as much as the Russians living in the Donbass. So, Hungary has protested vigorously for the treatment of ethnic Hungarians inside Ukraine.
Ukraine true to their ways has done everything they can to piss off Hungary and then are baffled at the response. Ukraine has refused to buy Russian gas and will “never receive any gas from Russia” and then started buying reverse flow gas from Hungary. Hungary is a minor producer of oil and gas so they could justify this that way. But in fact there was no actual reverse flow but accounting methods to divide that portion of Russian gas destined for Hungary to be given to Ukraine but at an additional 30% cost. Russia, by the way, tried to be nice and offered Ukraine gas at a set rate of $125 which was refused outright. So, now that Hungary will get all of its gas from the Turkish Stream there is no transit fees that Ukraine taxes all gas transiting from Russia to Hungary and cannot now receive reverse flow gs so they are in a pickle. This didn’t have to happen as Hungary merely asked that Ukraine permit Hungarians to live like Hungarians but the idiots in Kiev refused and these are the consequences. I will add that NATO and EU membership all require 100% votes by its constituent members for accepting any new countries like Ukraine. Hungary warned Ukraine of the consequences of their actions and now Ukraine has no possibility to ever be a member of either NATO or the EU (they are ineligible anyway as long as the conflict in the Donbass continues but this is often ignored by Western media) as long as Hungary (or Poland who has a different ax to grind against Ukraine) remains a member.
I can add living here now 12 years that the country has improved dramatically under FIDEZ leadership. People are in general happy (if Hungarians can actually ever be happy which is doubtful), employment is strong and workers from Romania, Serbia, and Ukraine are here in droves working as day laborers in construction. I see them everywhere and these failed US colonies (Ukraine and Romania) or in the case of Serbia outright war with the US are in trouble and these workers flooding Hungary is a sign of the effects of the evils of US foreign policy. I am not a big fan of FIDEZ and there are some serious problems with them but in general, the positives outweigh the negatives and any current opposition parties will be far worse in comparison. Orban has found his niche and leverages it successfully. I see no danger of losing the next election unless he gets killed by the US. He is very dangerous to US policy so it is a highly likely possibility. However, he instituted the anti-terrorism forces (TEK) which in fact are larger than the Hungarian Army, and serve as his personal bodyguards. The Hungarian Army itself is effectively useless which is probably a good thing.
@Old Microbiologist
Amazing read, hats off!
It’s really great that Orban stands up for his country and its kith and kin abroad such as those in Ukronazi captivity, even refused the right to speak their native language. And the considerable numbers of migrant workers from Ukraine and Romania in Hungary while the opposite flow of people is virtually zero speak volumes about EU cretinism: the Eurocrats keep slandering Orban while Ukronazis are just fine. No wonder they behave like that, of course. Orban has come to the same irrefutable conclusion as Lukashenko:
Russia is in the hands of a sane, honest, and very able government while the West’s ”leaders” and their army of puppets represent the exact opposite traits.
Hopefully, Orban eventually turns out to become the straw which breaks the horrid EU into pieces. That would have the considerably beneficial result of finally sending George Soros down below where he belongs as an extra bonus.
If the EU breaks apart
Who can mend George Soros’ heart?
Soros reasoned: ’Very well,
Time for me to go to hell!’
It is great up to a point. The people here are sick of the massive corruption in Hungary so he is becoming less popular. His son-in-law is the richest man in Hungary now supplanting the plumber from his village. They created 15,000 positions for Deputy Ministers that actually have no jobs but get huge salaries and all are friends of Orban. Most buy houses or have houses built or buy large yachts here on the shore of Lake Balaton. It is becoming obscene and why we see so many foreign workers in our pastoral area. So, as always when people are in power long enough it is time for them to go before their corruption takes down the country. AOC in the US serves as a bell-weather as to just exactly how long it takes for someone with ideals to become corrupt. It seems 2 years is the maximum in the US and possibly about the same everywhere. I would say though that the US takes the prize for being the most corrupt nation on Earth but it remains at the top levels. When we moved here corruption was all the way down to the lowest levels but that has slowly ended. Now it seems to be only higher-level governmental employees. In some ways, it was a lot easier to get things done when all you had to do was pay a small bribe.
Orban dances a delicate dance between Russia, the EU, the US, and Turkey much as Erdogan does. I foresee a coup against Erdogan (again) coming soon (ala the US). They will try something here as well but as is very obvious the US really doesn’t understand cultural values in most places. More than 50% of Hungarians would prefer to return to communism. The wealth disparity stares you in the face everywhere you go. We have a staff of people who work for us and I have gotten to know many Hungarians so have a glimpse as an outsider into the mindset of Hungarians. It is not easy to categorize at all and really, as far as I can tell unique.
Some Hungarian problems will exist forever. They are extremely racist and by this, I mean against anyone not actually Hungarian by ancestry and gays at a level exceeding 90%. They hate gypsies at a level nearing 100%. This will not change and is firmly in the culture. Try and buy any foreign foods here and you will be met with a challenge. Hungarians, by and large (although this is changing among the young nouveau riche) will not eat any foods that are not Hungarian. Groceries won’t carry things that people won’t buy so if you want anything oriental you have to order it online. In Budapest, you can find restaurants that have something similar to foreign foods but all with a Hungarian twist to it. We live more or less equidistant between Vienna and Budapest so we go to Vienna a lot more than Budapest unless we have visitors flying in. That is the only reason we ever go to Budapest. It is a beautiful city but I like to get away from Hungary periodically. COVID has made that very difficult.
The EU was set up to be an economic trade center and open the borders for easier transit of goods between EU countries. The Euro was supposed to make things easier for trading. It also opened up easier movement of laborers and health care when residing as workers in other EU countries. If it remained thus things would have stayed fine. But, the unelected leadership of the EU (many of whom are openly on the payrolls of Soros and/or the US (they already get disproportionate massive salaries) seem to be trying to force the EU to become the United States of Europe. I think that 99% of the citizens of Europe don’t agree with this so there is a big disconnect between politicians and the people. Most want to have the EU for the original purposes but also want to retain individual national sovereignty. This is the button Orban keeps pushing fighting back against the Soros plan to destroy national identities and it is working for him. By the way, it is the presence of unequally paid foreign workers (many of who were Hungarians) in the UK that caused BREXIT.
I have no answers to this morass but I think if the US were to collapse then things in Europe would stabilize. The US is the most destabilizing and anti-peace rogue nation in the world (Isreal would be second) and must be stopped. The number of countries slowly aligning against the US is becoming significant as they are coming to the realization as to what is at stake. We are on the verge of massive migrations of peoples coming to richer countries as their countries succumb to the problems caused by the overpopulation of the planet. China is the only country that is building instead of bombing these same nations so as to permit these countries to deal with global warming, become productive countries, and also good customers. This is why the US believes China is such a threat as it runs counter to the US idea of global hegemony. Maybe the EU is slowly coming to the realization that EU leadership is not acting in good faith regarding the needs and wants of the EU citizenry and is instead acting as a puppet government of the US. One can hope!
Hi Old Microbiologist
I have a request, could you please contact me by email, using a pseudo or even without revealing you real identity. There is something I would like to discuss with you.
If you rather not, it is totally fine, no worries, it is nothing crucial.
Kind regards
Andrei
Yes, Europe is a complex place and that is precisely why this notion of European Union is destined to fail.
There are multiple divisions in most EU countries and between them.
But the EU is all about a competing economic bloc against the US & Anglo Empire, and as a base for a further takeover of Russia including those states to its south in central-euro-asia, hence the US focus on Afghanistan.
This entire mess needs sorting out and I think Putin and Trump would have done so to create a better world.
”This is a direct act of ’disobedience’ not only to the rest of the EU and NATO, this is also a ’screw you’ to the US.”
Or, more aptly:
— Lofasz a seggedbe! 😀
The reality really is the that the European idea was only destined to work in terms of 2 blocs – western and eastern. Because those in the west have a different mindset and ethnic background that those in the east which is only partially compatible.
The whole EU idea is destined to fail and the recent divisions are evidence of that.
Even France is in internal division mode now.
The system would work better of perhaps 3 EU blocs – each not a union but an alliance like the EEC – were set up like this –
1 North / Western Bloc (Germany France Holland Scandinavia …. )
2 Eastern / Central Bloc (Hungry Czechia Romania etc… )
3 Mediterranean Bloc (Italy Spain Greece Albania Cyprus etc… and even Turkey & Ukraine ?)
You could even have countries in both blocs perhaps.
And trade between the blocs.
Each have their own currency (as well as national currencies if wanted) and the exchange rates between blocs set or floating which would have some benefit rather than being rigidly fixed to one.
This would work much better and ease a lot of the problems.
But this will not happen because corrupt money-changers interests don’t want a system that works properly for each nation state because they want to control and plunder every region.
Western Europe has conveniently forgotten that Hungary fought and repelled the expansion of the Ottoman empire headed at the heart of Europe at Mohacs. That enormous sacrifice and the lack of recognition by the West has not been lost on the Hungarian ethos.
