There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that inevitably there is going to come a confrontation between Russia and the US/NATO axis. President Putin and his colleagues in government know this more than anyone else, hence we see Russia (and China) upping their defence spending and rearming like theres no tomorrow. The Russians are fully aware of this but it will come at a time of their own choosing and will not be provoked into any overt military action as of yet. That doesn’t mean president Putin isnt furious over what they see happening in their backyard in Ukraine, but I think only a fool would read their current go easy attitude as capitulation to the west. They, together with China and Iran, have a far more effective tool (which by the way they have already begun using) than overt military action in their arsenal right now. They have begun dumping the dollar as payment for international trade and started trading in roubles and other currencies instead. Let us consider this for a second. It was Saddams efforts to dump the dollar and start trading Iraqs oil in euros that led to the invation of Iraq and Saddams demise. Likewise it was Ghaddafis intentions to begin trading Libyas oil in gold dinars instead of the dollar that resulted in the hounds of hell being let lose on him and his country. Now president Putin is just sitting there and dumping the dollar, no fanfare or publicity, just gradually dumping that old dollar and watching the psychopaths in Washington tangle themselves into knots with their Orwellian double speak. He knows there is going to be a reaction coming but they are well prepared. There is a saying, “be careful what you wish for as you just might get it”. The psychotic neo cons in Washington will do well to keep this saying in mind.

If so that’s good news. I didn’t know that. I apologise. Didn’t mean to spread misinformation.
The resistance to currency reform is far more likely to come from the US than China which is obvious when you think about it.
The point I was trying to make is that I hope for a multipolar world not the exchange of one empire for another. The problem with the US Empire is not that it is American. The problem is the power. It would be dangerous for an archangel to have so much power. As the poet Blake said the worst poison ever known came from Caesar’s laurel crown.

He was going back to Kiev June 4 according to one of his tweets that day.
Andrew,
But our population growth is primarily from immigration and, more important, fewer and fewer families can afford to feed themselves and keep a roof over their heads — which will only get worse if we don’t somehow do something that creates jobs. Which. We. Are. Not. Doing. So I see our wealth being increasingly among the wealthy but (e.g. Russia in the 1990’s) that just makes oligarchs, not a healthy economy — or society, which really is my main concern. There should be work, families need to eat. It really, deeply, bothers me that somehow that’s not a priority.

Which fascists do you plan to kill?

Yes. I agree, for whatever that’s worth! ;~)

Lord knows, I’m no expert but back in the Stone Ages when I studied Adam Smith (had to read a whole bunch of his stuff and, frankly, was terminally bored…), the main take-away I got was that unregulated markets lead to monopoly Which. Is. Not. A. Good. Thing. Somehow, by Reagan, that morphed into Libertarianism. How many people spouting this stuff have read more of him than a snippet or two?
Andrew,
No time now to research the various fracking compounds already known to be used but a) not everything in Nature is safe; and b) not all of them were made by Mother Nature, whatever Shell’s PR folks tell you. We live simply also, and try our best to waste as little as possible.
all the “pollutants” involved all came out of the earth to begin with and are simply being returned to it
Not at the same rate.
To wrap up the monetary discourse, what Anonymous said +110%: “The cause of its [global economy led by decaying Western powers that regardless of our politics we all see all around us in sky high unemployment, social breakdown, and moral decadence/indifference to fellow man] unraveling isn’t due to the gold standard or fiat-based-money — but because the US [and I would add Bank of Japan, Bank of England, EU/ECB] has proven itself UNWORTHY of the trust of its citizens — and ABSOLUTELY unworthy of the trust of humanity worldwide…it doesn’t matter how much gold is held in JPMs vault or how many dollars Yellen prints.”
Indeed. Witness the fake gold being found in Hong Kong shipments, or the massive fraud in the COMEX markets where it’s obvious to anyone who can read a chart that gold prices are ‘smashed down’ with naked shorts being dumped on the exchange at the opening bell or just before close to ‘slam’ the paper price.
While the Catholic blogger Ann Barnhardt has gone off the deep end since she bravely shut down her commodities trading business in protest of the colossal theft and fraud that was MF Global and its Government Sachs CEO Jon ‘the slime’ Corzine walking away a free man, untouched even by civil suits against his person, Ms. Barnhardt has said one profoundly true thing. God may have said in the Bible that the gold of Ophir is good, and He may have established ‘just weights and measures’ (people tend to forget about that part of the Old Testament law and how it was never revoked by Jesus). But ultimately, WE — God’s creatures — ARE THE GOLD. No amount of inert precious metals either in or above ground can prevent a system from being based on lies, fraud and oligarchic control. The yearning for at a minimum a soft gold standard or a multipolar currency basket world as Andrew and others recognize is a longing for a multipolar world where no great power, including China or Russia, may abuse the exhorbitant privilege of issuing the world’s primary reserve currency for long and escape the consequences for its elites and ultimately its people.

Dearest Nora,

Dear Nora,
What Adam Smith said that there are inherent monopolies, such as Public Utilities Companies (Electricity, Water and so forth), which are run and operated by State.
What Adam Smith said that these inherent monopolies should be privatized, but subject to State Regulations.
Basically, Adam Smith advocated giving the Wealth to the Oligarchs. This is how it is in USA.
In rest of the World the Public Utilities Companies were run and operated by the State, until Reagan and Thatcher forced every country in the World to privatized it, just like in USA.
BTW, I have replied to satan vs. Lucifer in the following appropriate thread:

Mohamed,
Yes re: the privatization but he did come out strongly for state regulation. He was certainly no Social Democrat (there weren’t any back then!), but his stance on the need for market regulation has somehow been twisted into its exact opposite! That still totally amazes me.
I want to spend more time on Satan and the Hebrew Bible(s) but right now I’m putting in a lot of effort to get something together for our daily paper. Hopefully, I’ll be done soon, but for some reason, it’s really slow going — I just don’t like what I’m writing and keep twisting and turning it to make it better and… it’s not happening…

Dearest Nora,
Keep up the excellent work, and it will come together sooner than you realize. The “Good Whisper” will slowly, slowly spread and God is the Best of the Planner.
Be very careful, whatever you do. Please give my kindest regards to Mr. Nora.
I will be praying for you and your lovely family.
Best regards,
Mohamed.
There have been a few comments on Syria, and I thought that I would mention a comment that I wrote last year, and put it on the comments of a News Article on the Internet of a Eurasian Online Newspaper.
I recently put on the Internet on the comments of a News Article again a few days before the Syrian Election, and I used the moniker of Moniker, and it is on the Your Middle East News Website, and the News Article is Titled: The war has turned Syria into a country of poor people at http://www.yourmiddleeast.com/news/the-war-has-turned-syria-into-a-country-of-poor-people_23976 .
Im another European completely supporting Donbass, Donnetsk, Lughansk on their fight.
My wife has asked me repeatedly not to consider going to the area to help as I speak no Russian.
So all I can do is send my Moral and emotional support and later somehow make contact to help provide humanitarian aid.
Many Europeans feel Pro Donbass as I do. I want to vomit onto the faces of KIEV thugs and throw much heavier objects than rotten eggs when they visit Europe.
Be strong Donbass & freedom Fighters
