And now, when all of these benefits and all this aid has been lost and discarded, England, leading the France offers to guarantee the integrity of Poland — the same in Poland, which just six months ago with greed hyena appetite took part in the robbery and destruction of the Czechoslovak state.
-Winston Churchill, The Gathering Storm
We really live in a crazy world. In preparation for the next NATO summit in Warsaw, already announced as ‘landmark summit‘, kids in Poland will be submitted to 4 hours of NATO propaganda a week for the next two months. Apparently, the Poles believe that their safety will be greatly enhanced if they succeed in creating the strongest possible tensions between NATO and Russia. Either that, or they think that the Russians will be absolutely terrified, that they will return the Crimea to the Ukronazi junta in Kiev, abandon the Donbass and unilaterally demilitarize.
There is nothing new here. Poland – the country which Winston Churchill called a “greedy hyena” – has a long history of trying to attack Russia when Russia is at her weakest, and the greatest Polish “heroes” are famous for attacking Russia in the times of internal trouble. Except that this time around Russia is not weak and the Russian people are solidly behind the Kremlin.
You could say that the Russian bear is utterly unimpressed by the Polish hyena, especially when it hides behind the American eagle to bark at Russia.
The polish view of history is nothing short of bizarre. For example, Polish politicians constantly blame the Soviet Union for the 1939 Soviet-German non-aggression Treaty (aka “Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact”) of 1939. They conveniently “forget” that a full five years before 1939 Poland was the first to sign the 1934 Polish-German non-aggression treaty (for some reason not known as the “Piłsudski-Hitler Pact”). Speaking of Piłsudski, take a look at this (very politically correct) summary of his life and actions and you will see that having megalomaniacal Fascist national heroes is not only a Ukrainian feature.
Apparently, history taught the Poles absolutely nothing.
They are hardly alone.
Most of Eastern Europe seems to be seized by a militaristic frenzy and a genuine fear that the Russians are about to invade. Just enter “Baltic invasion drills” in your favorite search engine and see for yourself how the imperial propaganda machine is constantly discussing whether an (apparently imminent) Russian invasion can be stopped or not and how the US tanks will save the Baltics from the Russkies.
Russians, who are constantly informed about these developments which are discussed on an almost daily basis in the Russian media, are absolutely baffled by this paranoid hysteria. In fact, they have a hard time believing that anybody could take that kind of nonsense seriously.
At the same time, however, the Russians are also realizing that what is taking place now is very much like what preceded the German invasion of the Soviet Union: a mix of rabidly russophobic rhetoric and an increasing concentration of military forces along the eastern borders of the Soviet Union. So even though the notion of Poland or anyone else actually preparing for a Russian invasion elicits only baffled reactions and giggles in Russia, the Russians are also assuming that the current militarization is only the first step in a much longer and larger process and are actively preparing for war too.
What will happen next is hardly a surprise: the toxic mix of US Neocons and East-European russophobes will result in first and foremost a lot of paranoid rhetoric and grandstanding and in an increase of US and NATO forces in Eastern Europe. That, in turn, will result in the inevitable increase of Russian military capabilities directed at NATO, which will give the NATO officials even more reasons to speak of a “Russian threat” and give more paranoid nightmares to the East-Europeans.
There is no way to deny that this is a huge victory for the US Neocons: they have finally created a situation in which
- East-Europeans are so terrified that they are unable to thinking logically.
- West Europeans are maybe capable of thinking, but cannot take any action.
- All EU countries will increase their military spending and purchase mostly US weapon systems (to meet NATO standards); the US MIC will make a killing.
- NATO will find a new (old) role for itself.
- Russia will be further decoupled form the EU, especially economically.
- Europeans will be further terrified by predictions of war and further convinced that NATO is the indispensable alliance lead by the indispensable nation.
- Russia will be further surrounded by new US protectorates (Finland and Georgia are probably next)
If this is a huge success for the Empire, this is also a huge failure for Russia.
However, I don’t think that anybody could have prevented this outcome. Let’s be honest here: there is nobody for the Russians to speak to in Europe (except, maybe, Hungarian President Orban). The Russians tried everything they possibly could to try to revive a modicum of common sense into the European politicians, but to no avail: the Europeans simply don’t have the brains, the spine or the balls to dare to have an opinion of their own. Instead, their opinion is whatever the White House says.
I know, the argument will be that its only the leaders, that the people of Europe don’t support these policies. But how is it that millions of Europeans took to the streets during the so-called “Euromissile crisis” or to oppose the war in Iraq, but have absolutely nothing to say about their sovereignty being turned into a farce, about their leaders supporting a Nazi regime in Kiev and about being used by the USA a cannon fodder in possible continental war?
I can only conclude that the Europeans deserve the leaders they have.
They also all deserve a collective Darwin Award. Especially the East-Europeans who have painted a bullseye on their heads just to please of Uncle Sam. One Polish official denounced the “Negro mentality” of his colleagues and one ex-foreign minister even spoke of “giving oral sex and getting nothing in return”, a very apt image indeed. But these outbursts lead to nothing. If McCain compared Russia to a “gas station masquerading as a country” then I would compare EU as a brothel masquerading as a continental alliance, a brothel where Americans get serviced for free. “Despised by all, feared by none” could become the new EU motto.
At the NATO summit in Warsaw the Americans will try hard to treat their EU NATO allies with absolute courtesy and respect, but in reality they will view them exactly as what Malcolm X called the “house negro”. Let me quote him in full as it is a perfect description of the modern European:
So you have two types of Negro. The old type and the new type. Most of you know the old type. When you read about him in history during slavery he was called “Uncle Tom.” He was the house Negro. And during slavery you had two Negroes. You had the house Negro and the field Negro. The house Negro usually lived close to his master. He dressed like his master. He wore his master’s second-hand clothes. He ate food that his master left on the table. And he lived in his master’s house–probably in the basement or the attic–but he still lived in the master’s house. So whenever that house Negro identified himself, he always identified himself in the same sense that his master identified himself. When his master said, “We have good food,” the house Negro would say, “Yes, we have plenty of good food.” “We” have plenty of good food. When the master said that “we have a fine home here,” the house Negro said, “Yes, we have a fine home here.” When the master would be sick, the house Negro identified himself so much with his master he’d say, “What’s the matter boss, we sick?” His master’s pain was his pain. And it hurt him more for his master to be sick than for him to be sick himself. When the house started burning down, that type of Negro would fight harder to put the master’s house out than the master himself would. But then you had another Negro out in the field. The house Negro was in the minority. The masses–the field Negroes were the masses. They were in the majority. When the master got sick, they prayed that he’d die. If his house caught on fire, they’d pray for a wind to come along and fan the breeze. If someone came to the house Negro and said, “Let’s go, let’s separate,” naturally that Uncle Tom would say, “Go where? What could I do without boss? Where would I live? How would I dress? Who would look out for me?” That’s the house Negro. But if you went to the field Negro and said, “Let’s go, let’s separate,” he wouldn’t even ask you where or how. He’d say, “Yes, let’s go.” And that one ended right there.
Is that not a prefect description of the “new European” towards the USA?
And I am quite certain that US officers will have far more respect for their Russian “adversaries” than for their NATO “allies” (I have often noted that attitude in US servicemen).
Still, I am not losing all hope.
First, I want to believe that the Neocons can still be defeated in the USA and that what I call the “old Anglo guard” can give them the boot. Second, I have not lost hope in two European nations: France and Italy. I might be mistaken, but it seems to me that the French and the Italians are, in Europe, those who are least influenced by the imperial propaganda machine, maybe because of their complex and rich history, who knows? I think that there is a typically Latin (I mean that culturally, not religiously) spirit of resistance and revolt which has not been completely blotted out of the French and Italian people. I might be very naïve of course, and totally wrong. I had high hopes for the Greeks, and all they could muster was the resistance power of a wet firecracker. Even the always proud Serbs appear to have been put down on their knees, at least for the time being. It is a very sad spectacle indeed.
In the meantime, there are signs that Russia is coming out of the recession. The Russian armed forces are planning over 2000 military exercises just for 2016. As for the Russian people, they still overwhelmingly support Putin. After the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw, this popularity is likely to soar even higher.
The Saker
Mr.Putin: “Since early 2000s, we have been persistently repeated the same thing, like a mantra: we will have to respond to it in some way.” He’s been talking for such long time and meantime the enemy have been straightening itself and moving closer and closer to slay the Bear. Well, this proves that talk is BS. Now, the “Hanibal ante portas” ( Hanibal at the gates) and if Mr.Put doesn’t act now the next NAT(errorist)O base in Poland comes to be operational, the denger will double. It’s already written on the wall.
Mr. P. says to it; ” The same will be done with regard to Poland. We will wait for certain action to be taken in Poland. We are not going to do anything until we see missiles on the neighbouring territory.”
He must be mad .The patriots should Put-him in the straight jacket to save Mother Russia. His strategy is to response after the enemies missiles hit the Kremlin. No deterens , only show of weakness. Hitler must be laughing himself out from Hell to hear him. One doesn’t need a crystal ball to see to the future. But the rat will attack after he is cornered. He’ll be victorious. Russian are great people and with big secrifices will prevail. They always do. Guaranteed.
@ Bolek
The Russians no doubt will rise to the occasion if they are behind a Kutuzov, Zhukov or a Stalin. Maybe one of them will turn up.
“I have not lost hope in two European nations: France and Italy. I might be mistaken, but it seems to me that the French and the Italians are, in Europe, those who are least influenced by the imperial propaganda machine”
You are delusional if you think those two nations will do anything. Eastern European countries had just 26 years of Empire conditioning, Western ones are conditioned since 1944, and are infiltrated by anglo-zionist masters by higher degree.
“I can only conclude that the Europeans deserve the leaders they have.”
It’s Russia who let USA take wealth, media and power of Eastern European nations (and partially even it’s own). Nobody will start a putsch to take power without external help, and neither Russia nor China are interested in financing and executing one. Show me one example where people taken the power without external help and we can talk.
“They conveniently “forget” that a full five years before 1939 Poland was the first to sign the 1934 Polish-German non-aggression treaty (for some reason not known as the “Piłsudski-Hitler Pact”). The same Piłsudski who wasn’t elected but taken the power after murdering opposition ? I see, on one hand you seems to oppose Poroshenko and cry foul that he usurped the power, on the other hand you conveniently forget who was elected by actual Polish people.
“Poland, which just six months ago with greed hyena appetite took part in the robbery and destruction of the Czechoslovak state.”
Lets just forget that the same Czechoslovak state invaded and taken those territories when Poland was defending their lands from Russian invaders, right.
“First, I want to believe that the Neocons can still be defeated in the USA and that what I call the “old Anglo guard” can give them the boot.”
Believe, it’s all you can do right now.
Anyway Saker, if i would be on your spot, i wouldn’t alienate potential allies like you do. Your Russian arrogance and superiority is what the Empire need. If history taught you nothing, remember old latin phrase “dīvide et īmpera”.
“Lets just forget that the same Czechoslovak state invaded and taken those territories when Poland was defending their lands from Russian invaders, right.”
That is a very complicated issue. First let me say I agree that territory on ethnic grounds should have become Polish after WW1. But on purely historic grounds it formed part of the Bohemian (Czech) territory since the Middle Ages. If wasn’t a part of Poland that the Czechs just seized. The Poles shortly before had occupied the territory themselves. And the Czechs just took it back. What should have been done (and wasn’t) was to have a neutral referendum of the populace to determine which country they preferred to be a part of.The Poles did ,under the cover of “Munich”,seize it from the Czechs. And after WW2 it was returned to Czechoslovakia. Where today it remains as part of the Czech Republic.
I agree that the issue isn’t as obvious as i put it in. On the other hand, that brit quote was full of ignorance (Churchill had his own agenda). But lets try: Who ruled the Cieszyn Silesia for 500+ years (maybe name of ruling dynasty)? Which nation had majority ? If there would be fair referendum, Czechoslovak wouldn’t even touch the region.
When it comes to referendum. Well, just remember what happened in Silesia and Greater Poland … it wasn’t pretty.
Piast Princes (very Germanized by then) did rule the region for centuries. But they did so as part of the Kingdom of Bohemia (Czech). Not as part of the Kingdom of Poland. As I said earlier I think the area ethnically should have gone to Poland. But legally Poland had no real claim to it by that time.Only a referendum might have given it to them (but it was debatable). After hundreds of years as part of the “Czech lands” it seemed most people were “satisfied” for it to remain the way it was. That must be true today as well. Since we don’t hear of a huge number of people there demanding to become part of Poland.
Do not forget how Poland moved to the west after WW2.
Yes, USSR took a piece on east. Defeating nazis.
Did the Poles defeat the nazis to have any claims or right to occupy their land???
No, they were even best friends with Hitler and offered him assistance if attacking Russia. On 1 Sept the cowards were somehow surprised what destiny Adolf preplanned for Polish rats.
There were “some” areas of Eastern Germany of the time, that had a Polish population (Upper Silesia,a few areas of Pomerania, and Southern East Prussia mostly). And almost all that region had been part of the Kingdom of Poland in the early middle ages. But except for the regions I mentioned,I doubt Poland’s claims to the other territories was any more just than the nazi claim to Poznan had been. The allied powers seemed to want to “compensate” Poland for their losses of non-Polish territory in the East (a bad idea). And to weaken Germany at the same time.Basing your policy on giving away territory that wasn’t your’s to give,is never a good idea.Since they expelled the population 70 years ago.And today almost everyone there is Polish. It would today be a bad idea to try and undue that. But it should stand as a reminder of what “not to do” today.
Interesting points, but….
“…either join us or remain neutral, and ask the Carians to do the same; if you cannot do either and you must fight against us, fight badly” – Thermistocles.
That’s not saying the French and Italians aren’t inclined to be hopeless all on their own; its kind of their reputation with the Anglo-Zionists. However its doubtful that they feel like free peoples right now and all gung ho for the American Empire, but neither can they leave.
One thing entrapped Euros can’t do, is blame Russia for their predicament. Their only salvation, is a strong Russia that is not attacking them, but quietly creating conditions that will inevitably see them capable of being free of that which binds them.
Russia was heavily invested in the Ukraine; that didn’t stop the coup.
There is the paradox that being able to help all to easily morphs into helping oneself at the expense of those supposedly aided. The sentiment was the driving illusion anti-Moscow factions used to forment coup. NATO now obviously lives by ‘foreign aid’. Russia would prefer to avoid that game, and that’s a good thing in the long term.
The lesson of Pilsudski might be the limits of armed force and danger of political instability through extreme or arbitrary measures that seem ‘right’ at the time, but are merely emotionally satisfying, solve little in the long term, and create new problems.
Putin’s playing the game astoundingly well. The histrionic cries that he change it, only seems to affirm his course, not condemn it.
@A.T.
“Russia was heavily invested in the Ukraine; that didn’t stop the coup.”
And I wonder why. The Russians knew exactly what was coming.

Looks like Oleg Tsarov is Novorussian, and it also doesn’t look like anyone cared about what he had to say. The nation was already broken, if it ever was one and not just a bundle of competing ethnicities.
The silent majority sat on the fence and went with the strongest strongman. Former president Yanukovych ran or was evacuated; if the latter, Russia was probably prepared to write off w. Ukraine as a lost cause. There’s no way to defuse an ethnic civil unrest gone that far. Reason? Nope. Bribes? Nope. Assassinations? Hell no.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/russia/11692593/Vladimir-Putin-saved-my-life-says-ousted-Ukrainian-president-Viktor-Yanukovych.html
Russia didn’t have much to work with. That is, short of installing dictators that are brutal as well as corrupt, like the U.S. does. In the American experience, off-the-charts violence still tends to occur anyway. Better NATO’s problem than theirs, and it has been more a NATO ulcer than a Russian one.
Anyway Saker, if i would be on your spot, i wouldn’t alienate potential allies like you do. Your Russian arrogance and superiority is what the Empire need. If history taught you nothing, remember old latin phrase “dīvide et īmpera”.
What history – 1000 years worth of it – proves to me is that the notion of a European ally for Russia is ludicrous. Been there, done that. I want Russia to learn from history and not repeat past mistakes the worst of which would be to consider that Europeans will ever be allies of Russia.
Besides, I don’t treat with respect those who don’t deserve any respect. Right now Europe – all of it – is just a cheap hooker. I really deplore that, it breaks my heart to see this, but that does not elicit any respect from me. None.
Look at Kazakhstan: “Stuck” between China and Russia. Just imagine the whining that would elicit from Poles! And yet, instead of whining, the Kazakhs make the most from this and become a country courted by both sides and a platform for commerce. THAT elicits respect from me. Ditto for Mongolia. No whining there either. Again, THAT elicits respect.
But Europe?
No. And we, Russians, have no use for such “allies”.
Cheers,
The Saker
PS: as for “dīvide et īmpera” that is what Europe did to the Soviet Union. Many thanks for that, beloved allies… LOL!
Sad but true… well written.
Russia’s policy during the Imperial era was to identify divisions between the European powers and take advantage of them to further her own interests and expansion. At times, Russia would side with Germany/Prussia against France or Britain. At other times, Russia would side with Britain and France against Germany and so on.
The main problem for Russia (and the USSR before it) since 1945, when the US managed to absorb all the European powers under their aegis (aka: NATO) is that Russia has to almost always face off against all the Western Powers put together, a very difficult position indeed.
The USSR, and now Russia even more so, have tried intensely to find cracks within the NATO alliance and exploit them. Gerhard Schroeder’s Chancellorship of Germany provided such a brief opportunity for the Kremlin and Putin took advantage of it by agreeing with the Germans back then on the Nord Stream I pipeline.
Now, with Russia’s direct entry into the Middle Eastern Wars, the Germans have again realized that Russia is again probably too tough of a nut to crack, even for the entire NATO-GCC Empire. It is for this reason that even under the rabidly anti-Russian Merkel, the Germans are by and large willing to move ahead with the Nord Stream II project.
The Nord Stream II project has been rightly described by a Lithuanian politician as an “EU destroyer” as it is designed by the Russians to create a permanent conflict of interest between Germany and the rest of the EU. Such a situation will be ideal for Russia moving forward.
But for this geopolitical and economic coup to take place, Russia must prevent the break-up of Mesopotamia, or as is now known, Syraq.
I consider North Stream II as EU’s lifeline for obtaining Russian gas once the transit through Ukraine comes to a halt. I expect that Russia’s energy sector will not renew agreements on gas transits through Ukraine, simply because Ukraine permanently breaches existing contracts and does not pay what is due.
If North Stream II will break the EU, it is primarily Brussels fault because they crashed all southern pipeline plans – even well advanced ones already under construction. Too bad and well deserved for Brussels. They cornered themselves and will become even more dependent on Germany to deliver gas to many EU members.
I guess Angela Merkel would have been put out of office by the German industry if she would have prohibited North Stream II.
‘What history – 1000 years worth of it – proves to me is that the notion of a European ally for Russia is ludicrous. Been there, done that. I want Russia to learn from history and not repeat past mistakes the worst of which would be to consider that Europeans will ever be allies of Russia.’
1772-1914 are years where European allies prove quite useful for Russia. You can talk all you want, but remember who helped you survive earlier centuries as a state (those useless European allies ?) and who helped you defeat nazi germany in WWII (um, European ‘allies’ who seek destruction of both you and germany).
‘Besides, I don’t treat with respect those who don’t deserve any respect. Right now Europe – all of it – is just a cheap hooker. I really deplore that, it breaks my heart to see this, but that does not elicit any respect from me. None.’
Rulers of current Europe, and fair amount of people. All of them ? No way.
‘PS: as for “dīvide et īmpera” that is what Europe did to the Soviet Union. Many thanks for that, beloved allies… LOL!’
Those times were called cold war for a reason.
Hahaha, Lech,
now you make me laugh:
It were the Russians who finally stopped the Ottomans and rescued Europe.
It were the Russians who finally stopped Napoleon and rescued Europe.
It were the Russians who finally stopped the Habsburgs and rescued Europe.
It were the Russians who finally stopped the Hitler-Mussolini-Bandera and rescued Europe.
But you tell me Europe rescued Russia?
Maybe the USA? Certainly they helped to some extent (like they always finance both sides of each war), but it was the Russians who did the job.

Good summary Saker – but I dont see the NATO taking of Ukraine and Georgia as a Russian “failure” exactly. What are they to do? How could Russia have prevented either of these events, without putting herself in the firing line? Russia doesn’t instigate wars, as we know.
I find the attempts by the current Russian government and President to find some sense in Europe interesting, in that that is exactly what Russia of pre 1914 did prior WWI if I am correct – try to mediate between the two warring factions. Didn’t help much then either.
However, in opposition to the nay sayers who will come on here with much weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth, that the current President and team are ‘being fooled’ – a la PCR, are “too soft”, etc etc, I suspect that this time, the rulers are well awake to History and to what the enemy is up to. They have their “lines in the sand” drawn, and will respond in kind, just as and when they choose.
[In his autobiography, Putin stated that his work in Dresden as an undercover KGB official was to find out what the “enemy” was doing. The enemy, he said, was NATO, not Germany].
In spite of diplomatic speak “partners, colleagues” etc [which one Russian assured me was taken ironically in Russia anyway] they have always known the Enemy as just that.
I suspect if things do go over the line, Russia will annihilate them. But as Lavrov said only last week, in response to a question of “is there going to be a global war ” — “our President said in the documentary “World Order” No, there isn’t, and I dont believe there will be either”‘
We have to remember they have heaps more information than we have – compared to which, we know nothing.
I guess I go along with Scott.

@ Anonymous on June 06, 2016 · at 4:34 am UTC :
I back your findings.
Actually it is a joke in itself that a “chief scientific analyst” seriously proposed such a thinking as “general rules”, rather than as self-irony
.
We saw such rules 80 years ago with “the Fuehrer”, and everybody knows how blind unconditional trust can end. This is an extreme example, and I don’t compare the persons. But it shows what blind following is worth. One has to review developments and one must switch on the own brain every now and then. Everything else belongs into the realm of myths, sects and (so called) “religions”.
But at least NATO is about to soon completely leave Europe, thanks to our neverwrong.
What a re- and be- -lief ….. ;)
Don’t forget the Austrians. They are not 50/50 against the fascists.
I would suggest try to avoid over generalization and simplifying.
Eastern Europe is very broad term. For analytic reasons it would be better to look back before 1.WW
I would suggest to group countries in Central Europe to different distinct groups:
Baltic countries
Poland
Former countries of Austrio-Hungary empire e.g.. Czech, Slovak, Hungary, Austria,
Romania
Balkan
On surface it looks different, but from my experience from former Czechoslovakia there is increasing tensions between official position and normal population.
Growing number of people is starting to follow Russian media, lot of people forgive 1968, and even some former dissidents voicing their disgust with NATO and have more understanding for Russian position.
“Growing number of people is starting to follow Russian media, lot of people forgive 1968”
What is there to forgive. It was the USSR that invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968,not Russia. The leader of the USSR wasn’t even Russian at the time, but Ukrainian. So do the Czechs “forgive” the Ukrainians,Belarusians,Latvians,Estonians,Lithuanians,Moldovans,Georgians,Armenians, etc, etc, etc,as well as the Russians for 1968.And if not,why do they consider any blame is Russia’s alone.
The point is the simple people do not realize that. And are brainwashed even beyond this limits.
Take the pathetic president of Slovakia, whos name in Russian sounds – – – P u s s y !!!! Really, check the translation of Kiska into Russian.
True the brainwashing is pretty much total. What is Russia to do. Go to every single person and explain the truth? Not possible I’m afraid. Which is why I always have said Russia should not care what others think. They should do what is good for Russia only. If its helpful to others. Then that is good. But it shouldn’t be the criteria for Russia’s actions. The “Rus” lands,of Russian history should be their concern.Russia almost never attacks someone unless they are attacked first. Or are being threatened with attack. That is the “cardinal” rule in Russian history. Russia’s expansion throughout her history has come from that policy.
Re: First, I want to believe that the Neocons can still be defeated in the USA and that what I call the “old Anglo guard” can give them the boot.
I very much doubt it. Neocon-Zionism holds all the real cards behind the scenes: international finance. They “allow” some goyim to be rich, but everything has its limits.
@ OP:
“I can only conclude that the Europeans deserve the leaders they have [..]”
Oh! In many ways they do (and as much as I do try to defend the average European Joe [because someone has to!] ) they kind of do, I must admit. Purely because they tend to vote for either a) the lesser of two evils (never a genius idea) or b) they vote tactically… to try to keep the party/parties the media told them are supposedly the worse of the worse out (by labeling anybody against the establishment far-right, fascists… or whatever) and they wind-up voting for more of the same in the end.
Just like the French did by voting Hollande’s and his supposedly “Socialist” party, or the Greeks voting Syriza (…and lord help the Spanish if they’re putting all their ‘hopium’ in Podemos and later they turn out to be traitors like all the ones before them).
It’s about time people get way more savvy than this, and start realizing most main-stream parties are ALL more or less the same.
Me? I’m all for torches and pitchforks instead, to tell you the truth. But, hey! That’s just me.
“But these outbursts lead to nothing. If McCain compared Russia to a “gas station masquerading as a country” then I would compare EU as a brothel masquerading as a continental alliance, a brothel where Americans get serviced for free.”
LoL! Mind you, I would compare the EU to the Hotel California: “You can check-out any time you like, But you can never leave!” – which, come to think of it – it’s kindda in the same vein of what you meant; but it goes deeper than that. According to the meaning of the famous song…
5 Things You Might Not Know About The Eagles’ ‘Hotel California’
“[..] (2) The song is about “excess in America”
While there have been many theories that contemplate what the song represents, the Eagles’ band members have revealed in multiple interviews that the true meaning behind “Hotel California” is a commentary on the hedonism and self-indulgence of America.
“It’s basically a song about the dark underbelly of the American dream and about excess in America, which is something we knew a lot about,” Henley said in a 2002 interview with “60 Minutes.”

Can’t speak for the situation on the ground in Italy (it’d be great if some folks from there would fill us in on the details), but France. Hell, yeah! They’re resisting these New Labor Laws being shoved down their throats and rightly so! They’ve been at it for weeks with more promises of more disruptions to come (particularly at the times of the Euro football Cup).
Don’t give up on us French brothers and sisters, we’re all with you in spirit :)

Whatever decision NATO makes now, it will only elevate Putin’s popularity. Meanwhile, China have realized it could turn the clocks against US in the South China Sea. It is planning to establish an Air Defense Zone in that area. China will likely capitalize on further US “aggression” by militarizing the South China Sea. China will have to establish an Air Defense Zone in the South China Sea “to protect it’s sovereignty.”
RT reports that the US has “warned” China that they need to join them in a “security” arrangement in Asia or they will be “isolating” themselves. That the US plans to create an Asian NATO out of the countries around China. It appears that they want to create an alliance like NATO is,to contain China (and Pacific Russia,I have little doubt). I don’t believe they are offering China an actual “membership” in that alliance. Anymore than they allowed Russia to join NATO.It would be something meaningless like they gave Russia with NATO. When you are a stooge organization there is only one boss. Allowing other “alpha-males” in would dilute the US’s power among the stooges. And that is something they would “never” allow.
Fine piece, mostly, but isn’t your belief misplaced, at least in the first part?
“First, I want to believe that the Neocons can still be defeated in the USA and that what I call the “old Anglo guard” can give them the boot.”
Still be defeated? Please clarify
Is somebody opposing them? Who?
Catastrophe after disaster after debacle … no failure goes unrewarded.
Hasn’t the old Anglo guard been defeated by the neo-cons?
Thank you for this site.
Every time I feel a little sympathy for Russians I come here to shake off delusions.
Please elaborate, did not catch your meaning.
Do you mean to say that this site anhances your russophobia, every time the effect of propaganda is waning on your brain, you need another shot, is that it?
You’re a NATOcrat!
Hi Saker,
actual political class ruling Italy is fully atlanticist ( see Mogherini), but they are watched and controlled by Vatican and this offers a big warranty about italian government crazy moves to follow neocon attacks against Sovranists countries.
In Italy we are still scared by the Nato/Gladio bombs season of the seventies in the past century and we remain a U.S. colony, military occupied from the end of 2WW.
So, meanwhile many italians are ignorant and brainwashed by mainstream media, others more cultured and especially young people finding information on the web are in opposition against status quo.
Italian military complex and personels are fully integrated in NATO, so will be very hard to deceive from actual political position, and 5stelle movements (actual political opposition) is moving very carefully against anglosionist also because internal contraddiction and recent examples of neocon vengeance like in South America.
Anyway, could be that, with European Union possible crushing in the next and a neocon defeat in the U.S., something will change in Italy and Europe.
I like to thinck that italians help to defeat Hitler’s dreams.
Wehrmacht operations agaist Soviet Union had a delay of some weeks because Germans had to recovery italian failure in Greece before start Russia invasion.
And at the end they were able to see Moscow and Leningrad only from some kilometers.
I hope that have Italy in Atlanticist front will be again a terminal trouble for actual fourth reich.
Thank for your beautiful, interesting and very necessary blog and excuse me for my imperfect language.
Cheers from Italy, Ottokom.
@ ottokom:
I, for one, very much appreciate your feedback from Italy.
That said; what you described is very close to my own conclusions of it all, as a casual observant of Italian politics.. :/
I so wish we had better news from your homeland. But! Never the less… thanks for your report (and don’t you ever worry about your “imperfect language,” you did a fantastic job at it, and I hope [as I’m sure others in here would agree] to hear from you again) :)

Preparing for a Russian-NATO war is going to bankrupt Europe and collapse their economies as they do not have any rational way to develop cost effective weapon systems. When combined with the very soft training for the average soldier, it is absolutely a stew of disaster in the making. The Polish thought that a battalion will be sufficient to slow down invading Russians is laughable.
Time is an ally of Russia and an enemy of Europe and the US. Their economic turmoil is just beginning to be realized and the civil strife from unchecked immigration is also waiting to boil.
No, a patient Russia with an eye to the East is going to be just fine. There is no need to hit any panic levers anytime soon.
The Master and his Negros, very good comparison to the actual situation between EU and US or US and NATO. The history is repeating itself, Germany was in the same situation with the European countries as today the USA, even if at a smaller base. We know what happened after the Soviets (Russians) arrived at the gates of Romania. Romania has turned sides. The way to the Balkans were instantly largely open. But even earlier after Stalingrad, the tremor took the lead in the hearts and minds of the “satellite” soldiers. This will happen in this case also, maybe in a much larger scale – the alliance is larger. Now they feel strong but what will happen if the first huge casualties will come to surface in the eventuality of a war with Russia ? They will point the fingers, and not in the direction of Russia. One after another, the countries will fall out, civilian protests will be on daily basis and violence will erupt. The loss of blood will made the effect. Now, the peoples in Europe are sleeping their dream of democracy and freedoms. Once they will be drafted and sent to bleed up, or when the oil will be rationalized, as well as the food, and other miseries of this kind, then, only then will comprehend what they missed during happy sleep.
Remember, Ioan, the rulers of the EU are ‘ House Negroes’. The ‘Field Negroes’ are growing restless as the sadistic brutality of neo-liberal austerity devastates societies across Europe, typically targeting the poor, weak and defenceless.
Don’t discard the Germans…. They’re waking up. They’re slow, but when they wake up and realize the US is no longer their protector, BFF and sugar daddy.. They’ll change the whole European scene in a heartbeat!! Germany is now the defacto leader of Europe. That became very clear after the Greece debacle.
RT reports today that the German Government is to classify Russia along with terrorism, etc. As one of the 10 security “challenges” to Germany. So it doesn’t matter how many Germans “wake-up”. It only matters that those still “sleeping” run Germany.
https://www.rt.com/news/345466-germany-security-challenges-russia/
Germany is Z-occupied since at least 1918.
Ahh, no, I forgot: Yalta 2.0 soon coming, that’s why NATO is so “desparate” now before “soon abandaning and leaving Europe”.
At the “moment NATO is simply increasing its worth” “before leaving”.
Seriously, I still have sleepless nights from those funny “predictions”.
Yes, the situation is getting worse by the hour and I don’t see Lavrov or allways correct Putin dealing with the situation.
Do you think this security White Paper “leak” may actually be a Panama Papers style NSA hack? Sputnik reported Merkel’s support for the free trade zone from Lisbon to Vladivostok today too. (http://sputniknews.com/politics/20160605/1040810928/merkel-eu-russia-cooperation.html)
Does this Ursula whats-her-face who is Minister of Defence seriously expect to order the military to attack Russia? Whether we like it or not, the German govt is packed with CIA operatives and they say all kinds of things. Would Merkel openly make that kind of statement, though, if she wasn’t firmly enough in power right now over the CIA/US presence? She may have been a hardliner believing all the glowing talk about the US, and despising Russia – but since the Ukrainian crisis, she may have discovered the cold hard truth.
(My German-Canadian family including me perfectly reflect the Saker’s comments about the “dumb German” who doesn’t understand. What I mean by that is that when we believe we know something that is true, we are totally immovable about it. Like will not budge at all. But if we then discover that what we thought was true is not true, then we move. Without hesitation. I have no way of knowing for sure, but I wonder if this is what has happened to Merkel. We all learn some things the hard way in life.)
An interesting video of a drunken Juncker is also circulating in the media. Nothing to do with his recent announcement to attend the economic forum in St. Petersburg?
And if it’s so easy for a nation to just rid itself of CIA/US dominance then why hasn’t there been more success doing so in the USA??
Even Stephen Lendman is preaching to Germany today. While I respect all these comments and those who make them, I get frustrated at the seeming supreme confidence in dictating the precise steps that Germany should take when there has been exactly *no* success at all -like none- with limiting this CIA influence in the US, where it originated.
Maybe it’s just not this straightforward and easy!
Why don’t a few million Americans march the Pentagon and demand an end to MKUltra and the trillion dollar defense budget? I bet some citizens of other countries would even join in.
That has always been my hope too. But in every empire in history its almost always the heartland of the empire that wakes up last. With 2 centuries of propaganda behind them, the elite have convinced most Americans that we can never be wrong. Its always those “foreigners” that are the cause of the problems. And today with the almost total media control (total control of the MSM) people just aren’t told the truth. As an example,a friend posted on FB (he has “somewhat” the same opinions I have) mildly comparing rights in the US (few) to some in other countries. Someone else posted the “standard” US thinking. He said,”at least the US has freedom of the press”. He was serious,he thinks the US has the “most free press in the World”. That is the kind of brainwashed thinking dissenters in the US have to deal with. Those outside the US have a better chance to first gain their freedom (they aren’t “exceptional” after all.So have fewer reasons to serve the empire) than people in the US do.
The entire West-German state was in fact a _creation_ of the CIA who hired old SS Nazis for its implementation (although it’s always claimed that they are against Fascism).
Everything from A to Z is run by them, including of course the most influential News Papers and TV channels.
The german gov is – as you correctly stated – little more than a foreign subsidiary of the Pentagon.
That’s why these claims about Yalta 2 were complete rubbish.
Of Merkel’s alleged support for a ftz with Russia I din’t yet hear anything before you told me about it.
But without having read your link yet I can tell you what I told Scott: Never ever in 5 lifetimes.
So if Merkel really said that then they may have cahnged strategy to destroy Russia, like they did in 1972 when they suddenly approached the East under Chancellor Willi Brandt. What appeared to be a well-intended gesture was in fact little more than a new plan to destroy the East: By getting closer and friendlier, instead of getting frostier.
As we saw it worked way too well, tragically.
And this even after the US was believed to lie in Ruins after the cancellation of Bretton Woods in 1971 and after Vietnam.
Hi Uncle Bob and Martin,
Appreciate your replies – I think you are both much more knowledgeable about this than I am.
There is one big difference between 2016 and 1972 – the neocons. And the results of 16 years of neocon wars. And the obvious, undeniable fact, obvious to even the most obstinate of us, that these neocons intend to provoke a war in Europe. Not just in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc etc, but actually on the continent of Europe. And the Russian Federation is now a capitalist nation led by a moderate. And maybe the German high command made it clear that they will seize control of the Chancellory and fight with Russia when the SHTF.
I just think this situation might cause even the most resistant leader to change positions.
The good news is that Europe will descend into chaos, poverty and civil war. And Russia will have insulated itself from this. Europe is on the same road as the Ukraine and the U.S. owns it. The chickens will be coming home to roost. Soon.
The U.S. doubled down but it’s that gambler’s last throw. As this happens, watch bitter civil strife consume America. In both Russia and China the regimes will hold. Of course, the NeoCon crazies will want to press militarily but that won’t happen when domestic strife overwhelms the U.S. and Europe. The elites will over-reach themselves and fall out.
Athens at Syracuse.
“civil war”? They are different countries, you know..? They may fight each other as they always did, but they’d never turn against their own. They may turn against the “newcomers” that were foisted upon them by their hated governments. But never their own..
Jonas, you apparently have never heard of ‘class war’. It is already raging in Europe under the pseudonym of ‘austerity’.
This is exactly what I believe will happen. All signs point to this. The US will finally reap what they have been sowing throughout the world.
And I wonder in what Italy and France have demonstrated their rebellion.
In addition to that, encompasings these two countries in the Latin category, The Saker forget the Latins par excellence (aka. Spain).
But hey, maybe it´s all the wave of hispanophobia which was initiated here by the publication, without any calling of attention neither by the moderator nor by The Saker himself, of that infamous racist text of Quigley, and this seems to be nothing more than the continuation of a smear campaign of the Spanish and Latin Americans coming from the AngloSaxon world because, really, we are, Spanish and Latin Americans ( especially some of these ) the only ones in the world who do some opposition to that these exceptionalists treat us like servants. If you look very closely, never in Latin America the US have been called or considered “partners” except by the comprador oligarchies.
As an illustration of my point, I leave a long article by Dr. Lajos Szaszdi Leon-Borja published in HispanTv where not only you will be able to test why we are now also discredited but besides you will learn a few history lessons about how “The Empire” was built, with the aid and money coming from Spain, and you will test the real nature of “The Anglos”, looters, thieves and unthankful people.
And by the way, Florida was Spanish till it was stolen by the yankees, the language spoken there, Spanish, was banned.
Try to translate in full with a translator as it has no waste, you will enjoy the direct and without mincing words style, typical Spanish.
“Russian warships in Spanish ports: An excuse for AngloSaxon anti-Hispanism”
http://www.hispantv.com/newsdetail/opinion/257379/buques-guerra-rusia-espana-excusa-antihispanismo-anglosajon
“Recently the British newspaper The Times of London reported that the Anglo-American Congressman Joseph Pitts Republican Party representative for District of Pennsylvania in the House of Representatives of the US Congress, accused Spain of betraying their allies within the Organization of the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO), as well as its partners in the European Union, for allowing to date at least 57 Russian warships, including submarines, to stop in the Spanish port of Ceuta on the coast North of Africa. The ships of the Russian Navy stop at Ceuta in technical stops to perform and just pass tasks of logistic resupply and rest of their crews on their trips to the Mediterranean Sea, from their bases in the Baltic Sea and the Barents Sea in the Arctic Ocean, as well as on their journeys back and on their travels in communication with the Black Sea. They might even stop warships belonging to the Russian Pacific Fleet in transit to the Baltic and Barents Seas. Ceuta and the Spanish Government only comply with international law to allow any foreign ship that meets Spanish law, the Spanish port to enter as temporary and short break in its journey.
It seems that both Pitts as the English are unaware of international law and the Law of the Sea regarding the treatment of foreign vessels, including warships in peacetime. This is not surprising in the case of the representative of the lower house, being known the proverbial lack of knowledge of many Americans, including at least part of Congress politicos. Spain on the other hand knows its obligations under international maritime law, as stated in their “Standards for scales of foreign warships in ports or Spanish anchorages and passing through the Spanish territorial sea in peacetime” rules adopted by Order 25/1985 of 23 April of that year. These rules, according to their legal explanation, “are based on international maritime law, international conventions ratified by Spain and traditional customs of ingrained courtesy from very old in our maritime practice, which was always in accordance with international practice”. And this is no exaggeration, for the history of the Kingdom of Castile and the Crown of Aragon as a maritime power during the Middle Ages, and later in the Modern Age by the condition of Spain as a naval power in both the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans as in the North Seas, Mediterranean and Caribbean. Of this I bear witness, as a descendant of Spanish and Basque Captain-General Don Tomás de Larraspuru.(…)
(…) It takes knowledge of history and international law to understand the Spanish position, which does not usually have many Americans. One of the fathers of international law, the Spanish Dominican friar Francisco de Vitoria from sixteenth century, proposed the “ius communicationis” in Latin, the right of communication, as a natural right of men and nations to communicate and be free to have contacts through geographical distances. The right to navigation and to relations between nations by sea derive from the principle of “ius communicationis”.
The English would not have to worry that the Russian submarine of conventional propulsion “Novorossiisk” has stopped at the port of Ceuta, 30 km from Gibraltar, if they had returned Gibraltar to Spain at least since the establishment of Spanish democracy in 1975. Originally ceded the Rock of Gibraltar and its citadel in legal terms only as a naval military base, from Spain to England by the Treaty of Utrecht of 1713, which ended the War of Spanish Succession, Britain violated the treaty by unilaterally changed in 1830 the condition of British naval base that Gibraltar had as status to British colony, establishing its sovereignty over Spanish territory illegally.(…)
(…) The English are traitors of trust between two major European allies and partners, not the Spanish. And the bad English will, which refers to democratic rights of self-determination for Gibraltar not granted at the time to the population of its former colony of Hong Kong, is due to the anti-Spanish historical prejudices – and antihispanoamerican, as in cases of The Islands Malvinas (which affects Argentina), Belize (affecting Guatemala) and the Essequibo (affecting Venezuela) – typical of Anglo-Saxons and apparently afflicting a majority of the British nation and its ruling elite(…)
(…) In short, without the Spanish silver Mexican located, Admiral de Grasse French would not have had the money (France not had supplied) to pay the French merchants of Santo Domingo French what he needed to from its fleet and and confront and reject the Battle of the Chesapeake to the British fleet that came to rescue and try to evacuate by sea the British army besieged by Washington at Yorktown, thus deciding the independence war and US
And before that American betrayal of 1898 was another when Gen. Andrew Jackson ( that of the $ 20 bill ), war criminal, murderer and genocide of American Indians invaded Florida, Spanish possession, in 1816 and 1818, forcing by their actions of military aggression to transfer the territory to the imperialist US, which left exposed theSeminolas Indians from Florida, protected until then by Spain, to genocide and ethnic cleansing at the hands of the Americans. An American betrayal of who helped him become independent of Britain. Pitts should be thaught the Spanish saying “it is of well born to be grateful.”
(…) It is the US who betrayed Spain attacking her in the Spanish American War of 1898, after Spain gave the nascent United States during its war of independence financial support – its American Silver from Mexico – military support to open other fronts of war against the English as in Florida or in the Mediterranean, and logistical support in the form of weapons, ammunition and supplies, including logistical support in Spanish ports to American separatists warships. Without Spanish support – nor without French support – the United States of America would not have won its war of independence against Britain and achieve their status of sovereign republic.(…)

@antihispanismo-anglosajon
But it begins with the Virgin Witch Queen, unleashing her Drakes on the Spanish galleons carrying the gold and silver from America and concocting ‘La leyenda negra’ (and the ‘Black Legend of the Spanish Inquisition’, as well). Anglo colonization of America (and India and the Pacific) was essentially a move to replace the Spaniards (and French). “Liberated” America was bound to continue the capture of the Spanish territories in South America, Mexico, California, Cuba, Philippines.
In parentheses, all South-American revolutionaries were Masons (Miranda, Bolivar, O’Higgins, and many others) of the so-called ‘Scottish Rite’ founded in 1747 in the city of Le Cap Français, on the north coast of the French colony of Saint-Domingue (now Haiti), but which spread throughout the West Indies and North America. Masonry was an Anglo creation, whose origins can be traced back to the anti-Spanish (anti-Catholic) struggle of English Reformation, for the spread of (anti-Catholic) revolutions throughout the world.
After the loss of the North American colonies, the English decided to expand into the Spanish Colonies of South America. In 1795, a Scott by the name of Nicholas Vansittart wrote a white paper clearly outlining a way to take South America away from Spain. The Brits put it in practice during the Napoleonic Wars, under the pretext that Spain was an ally of Napoleon. An attempt to invade Buenos Aires failed but the Brits had another ace up their sleeves: the recruitment of young army officers, born in South America, to lead an insurrection against Spain and turn the new countries into becoming loyal to the British Crown. To make a long story short, Argentina and all of South America are indeed a British creation. The Monroe doctrine imposed by America did the rest, serving British interests well enough and was met with tacit British approval. The doctrine made it clear that the United States would not tolerate foreign meddling in the Americas (obviously even if not stated, Spain and France). The British Royal Navy enforced it tactically as part of the wider Pax Britannica, which included enforcement of the neutrality of the seas. This policy meant that Britain could get all the benefits of trade and investment in South America with very little of the administrative costs. Britain had very strong commercial links with South America, especially with Argentina. In many ways, the influence and power that Britain could hold over the policies of the individual South American states meant that they could almost be termed as being part of Britain’s informal empire.
“Simón Bolívar himself, still in the midst of his last campaign against the Spaniards, Santander in Colombia, Rivadavia in Argentina, Victoria in Mexico—leaders of the emancipation movement everywhere—received Monroe’s words with sincerest gratitude” (John Crow, author of The Epic of Latin America).
The hidden hand of British Intelligence in the creation of ETA (Basque provinces were a center for industrial development that threatened British economic hegemony), was recognized by Prime Minister Carrero Blanco who, before his assassination at the hands of ETA in 1973, wrote a letter to Franco, charging that it was Spain’s purported “allies,” the British, who were promoting ETA.
That is a very complicated situation. Its not “black and white” at all. There were two separate interests involved in Latin America. The “Criollo” (American born Europeans) class wanted independence from Spain. Just as the US had broken away from the British. Some would have been satisfied with a great amount of “homerule”. But most wanted total independence. The British wanted the same thing for Latin America (as did the US). They wanted to influence (and if possible control) the Latin American economics. Which under Spain had been closed to other European countries. While Spain was allied to Napoleon the British plotted to seize their American possessions.Supported rebels, and made attempts to land troops in Argentina to seize in from Spain (they failed). And planned a landing in Venezuela. But when the Spanish allied themselves to Britain against Napoleon the British “officially” supported Spain’s rule over her colonies. While unofficially not doing anything to stop the revolutionaries from getting British arms. And after Napoleon was defeated ,British ex-soldiers and sailors to serve with them. With Napoleon’s fall from power ,Spain and England’s alliance ended. The Latin American revolutionaries started to win the Independence Wars .Especially when Spain’s restored King tried to restore absolute Monarchy in America’s. Even some that had supported Spain until then turned to the rebels. With Spain being driven out of all those states the British (being opportunists) recognized those states as independent. And gained huge commercial privileges in them. The US did the same ,for the same reasons. They wanted (if possible) no European colonies in the America’s. Which they thought, would make them the most important country in the America’s (they were correct). And was the reason for the Monroe Doctrine. So as you see the Wars of Independence, which spanned 15-17 years (depending on the start date used.It differed by country). Covered a large number of players. All had their own interests. Some were allies, then enemies, then allies again. It was very complicated. But you are right that in general the British and US,conducted themselves throughout ,as ill meaning opportunists.
@ Dear Elsi
I think you are overreacting again. The Saker means Latin to refer to the European countries whose languages evolved from Latin ( Portugal, Spain, France and Italy), which were the core of the Roman Empire and have strong common cultural affinity.
It has nothing to do with the people known as Latinos in the USA – people from Latin America. And you know it.
That is your very personal opinion, but not so few readers found justified my reaction which you qualify, in your particular way of seeing things ( perhaps interested ), as “overreaction”.
For your information, I react, and will react, each time I feel like to do it, I am not going to ask for permission to any of you.
What you are pointing is only one of the claims in my post, being the main issue the hispanophobic text of Quigley’s published here some days ago ( and my response to it which was banned ) about which I complained here publicly, and also privately, obtaining zero response, and the wave of hispanophobia launched from the US against us, including a menace from ISIS to Spain and Spanish people. I am only connecting dots as usually do.
Too much coincidences.

I wrote months ago what would (hopefully) happen in the event of the War. I still believe at the first defeats (or maybe even before) several of the NATO states will declare neutrality. And possibly some of them switch sides. Of course when that happens the smartest move by Russia would be to accept their neutrality. And accept any and all wanting to switch sides. The empire and its main stooges are the real enemies. And the war is mainly their war against Russia. The other NATO stooges are only cannon fodder for them.
I look forward to reading you columns; they are the best analysis of the the current world situation that I can find on the Internet. With all due respect, and be assured I have a great deal of it for you, there will be no significant military conflict between NATO and Russia in the near future, despite the
loud voices in the West calling for war on Russia. The next major conflict, the conflict that will change the world forever, will be between the entire world and Israel.
Peace and love.

I think that I guess what you are after. But I also think that you are wrong. State of Israel is not the biblical Israel. If you want references to the Bible, I think that we are now in Rev. 18, the destruction of the Great Babylon. And what else is this Wall Street/NATO/Hollywood complex, than the Great Babylon? The war gets closer and closer every day, but there´s a fundamental difference now: even though those architects of this war think so, in essence it will be not an artificially created war for the profits of the military industry and rebuilding industry, after the war. This time it will be much more real, war against the Cradle of Filth, that created all the other wars.
Funny you should say that…following a ‘Russian threat’ standard mantra by the American Enterprise Institute, reprinted by the extreme Zioist Breitbart, I was surprised – and heartened! – to see a slew of comments denouncing the globalist elites.

German leaders still have the ambitions to conquer Eastern Europe but they lack the military power for that. So they are dependent on the US military. That is thier main motive for choosing to be the junior partner of the USA and that is why Germany pressed for NATO expansion to the East and the destruction of Yugoslavia. Bush called it “partners in leadership” in 1990. In contrast to that Germany did not approve the US attacks against Iraq and Libya because German leaders don’t have the ambitions to be colonial masters there. Also they don’t have reliable collaborators like the Ustashe, KLA, “Volksdeutsche” and OUN there.
In the 90s German leaders brazenly demanded:
“expansion to the East”
“outwards it is essential to achieve something whereby we have failed twice before”
“Without Germany it is impossible to integrate the East European peoples.”

A real Germany will never accept US and British domination on the continental Europe. They are realists, with two legs on the ground. This realism will bring them closer to Russia even if it seems now difficult to imagine. Russia will be happy with an independent Germany, both have learned the lessons of history. Interestingly, the former East-German experience will(or is even now) somehow influencing the whole of Germany and interestingly the neighbor Austria.
@ ioan
Where have you been since birth? Germany is an occupied country. Germany had its chance of being independent when Stalin proposed its unification as a neutral state, like Austria. The Americans and British refused because they were still planning to use Germany for their attack on the USSR, including atomic bombs. Once the Soviets tested the first nuke, their plans went up in smoke.

Since my birth, I was looking through my head, but yes, of course you’re right and I know that. What I’m referring to, is a new Germany which will evolve hopefully. That “real Germany” does not exist yet, I would wonder if will happen peacefully.
Tass reports strangely today Merkel supporting a german russian raprochement that when Minsk is concluded she supports the russian hope of a common economic space from Vladivostok to Lisbon……..in case the eu breaks up in a north south split……germany wishes to dominate empirically this economic space….or in subversive partnership with usa in case TTIP fails ……???
But note nato and ukraine are jointly holding a defence seminar so they can jointly develop their defence industries..presumably using ex rus technical knowledge, cheap slave labour factories etc ,to be a running sore at rus borders bypassing maybe an increasingly indifferent or vociferous anti eu regarding usa nato interests or even claim they are a true bastion against rus intentions in order to keep the information war in the eu.?
NATO can fart and tap dance all they want. There is no military option for them. Anyway the whole thing is an exercise in propaganda. And the problem with propaganda is that you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.
The problem with the empires strategy is that it calls upon its vassals to be the vanguard but it offers them nothing in return. The plunder of the east continues, and the people become increasingly impoverished. Perhaps at some point they will catch on. Money talks and bullshit walks.
Around here I talk to east European tourists from time to time and they generally say that these days they are just feasting on a corpse. Nothing has been built. Nothing has been done. As the institutions of the former Soviet state disappear, so do their prospects.
Europe is finished. It has no future. It is a corpse. The financial vultures are gorging on it.
Russia should just give up on the whole sh..show (edit MOD). The future is really in Asia. The best way to do this would be to move the Capitol to Vladiovostock or perhaps somewhere a bit more inland.
It’s all about that 2% of GDP to spend on weapons. They know Russia is no threat. The NATO politicians want those great heaps of money that the Master dangles over their heads. Even during tail-end of the Cold War there was CIA team “A” and “B”. A was the bogie-man assessment of the USSR, and B was a reality based assessment that showed a much less dire profile of then Soviet capability. No brainer which one the MIC picked….
It is amazing to me how Putin has dealt with all these pressures. He’s had to defend against threats to the national security and independent sovereignty of his country, economic attacks, Western threats and terrorism, all the while keeping the door open for his “partners” for when they finally come to their senses. (there is always hope) And doing this without getting us all killed.
@ fullback84
Even if it is all about the 2% military expenditure, why should the European people be saddled with an impost to sustain American power over their own countries? An we all know where most of that money goes: yes corrupt politicians and also the American IMC. Its like an occupying army being paid by their captive population.
…”why should the European people be saddled with an impost to sustain American power over their own countries?”
Because they go along with it, which means they are willing. With objections, perhaps, and a good deal of teeth-gnashing, hidden tears and sorrowful snot, but they are willing nonetheless.
The Russians have a word, a term really – “Lokh” – which stands for an individual ready (almost begging) to be screwed over, usually by putting oneself into an inescapably bad situation for the sake of momentarily appearing grander than he/she will ever truly be (like, say, a moron taking out a huge high-percentage loan to buy a shiny new Ferrari that won’t even fit in one’s garage to start with).
That’s Eastern Europe for you. Lokhs.
Why shouldn’t the Empire gorge itself on them?
It’s a terrible position to be in, because it doesn’t serve anyone’s interests other than the war profiteers. Just as Europe are slaves to the system, so are Americans more so. As long as the neocon’s are in power,(or as Saker calls the AZ’s) we are all “house negroes.”
Russia is basically saying, free yourselves! But who listens…
Ironically America’s greatest psychic, Edgar Cayce, said the hope of the future was Russia.
http://www.wakingtimes.com/2015/10/16/80-years-ago-edgar-cayce-predicted-putins-role-in-stopping-ww3/
Waiting for the West to come around is not the future. Russia going forward, alone if need be, on the moral path is the future.
Too many Western Christians are hoping and praying for an armageddon. Especially the Armageddon.
Russia can easily stop armageddon, by not starting it.
Everyone seems to be demanding that Russia ‘do something’, which she has been, and winningly so. They want Russia to do something else; what? Lose. Start a war to prevent a war, or squander so much preparing for one, as to lose the Long War. Lose common sense, morally as well as materially.
As much as the End Times worshippers pray for it, Russia won’t start it. It very much seems, that for the Armageddonists, someone else must do the greater part of sinning on their behalf so they can stay ‘more’ blameless in the balance. Its a strange way of thinking, to commit the world to evil yet elude Judgement by arranging to be the lesser evil.
Regardless of what happens in the U.S. and other nations, Russia’s future is in its own hands and will turn on Russian faith in themselves as living in harmony with Creation, not its dominators and destroyers.
Russia need not destroy anything, much less herself, to save it, and Putin appears to know it.
What´s the rush. Why should Russia DO anything? They have the power to annihilate ny aggressor crossing their borders. Putin is absolutely right being cool, and letting the hysterical EU politicians spend their money on equipment they don´t need, but will enrich the 1% in USA. It´s a matter of time before the people of Europe will see through the american propaganda lies and realize they have been conned all the way.
Stop preaching war and macho retaliation. Never throw the first stone. Hannibal is not outside the gates.
Although, NATO is at Russia’s gates, a mistake Hannibal would not have made.
Russia “must” do something, because otherwise the “prophecies” of the Gog/Magog hordes invading from the North, would be exposed as the hoaxes they are and the “prophets” as liars. What Russia has to do is to debunk those “prophecies” by doing nothing. Let the “prophets” hang to dry. And after that call the bluff.
Well, they’re Poles, Catholics and also one of the 2 most fanatically backward religious states in Europe. That’s 3 strikes…
In a normal environment, they would have joined the Neanderthals, their obvious direct ancestors, a few centuries ago.
@ vot tak
That’s a cheap shot. Neanderthal ancestry is fairly well distributed among all Europeans. And it appears they were more advanced than Modern Man in many ways.
So, you don’t like Catholics. I’m Catholic, but I do like my Orthodox brothers and sisters. Our Lady of Fatima also made it quite clear that the hope of the world and spiritual renewal would come from Russia after these times we are in reach their nadir. That is my hope as well, and I hope I am not deceived in regarding Putin as a truly great world leader who alone seems to be ushering in this coming age of Christian peace.
I do not like what has become of the Roman Church, which seems nowadays almost like a rape victim, infiltrated by her worst enemies. Destroying this Church seems to be the number one priority of just about everyone. I cannot turn my back on this forlorn Bride of Christ because I have loved her all my life. I’m sure my Orthodox brothers can identify with such a bond, even if non-believers and Protestants will scoff and ask, “How can you love an institution, a man-made organisation that is corrupt to boot?” But they have already answered their own question and they are too hard-headed and too wise to give credance to mere emotion.
Jeremy, for you: ‘I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.’
Consider the following, it can *only* apply to the roman catholic church – your Saviour is *not* the ‘church’ but Christ:
‘1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not
partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her:
for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong [is] the Lord God who judgeth her.
9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall
bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.’
If the Catholics really like their Orthodox ‘brothers and sisters’ they would strive to become Orthodox again, as many Catholics did. They would understand that Russia was under the “Protection (Pokrov) of the Mother of God” from the very moment the Russians became Orthodox. No need for the Pope to “consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary” (consecration which should have been followed by the “conversion” of Russia – to what?). What is hoped for is the conversion of Catholics, their return to the True Faith, distorted by centuries of Papal fallacies.
Birds of a feather flock together.
The Europeans are just as predatory as the Americans, as they share a common heritage of imperialist barbarism disguised as civilization, democracy, Christianity, or other bullshit deceptions.
That is why they are hostile to Russia–or any other nation that stands in their way.
Indeed, America is merely the imperial spawn of Europe’s genocidal colonization of the “New World.”
Deep down these Western nations all share the same warped worldview and “civilization.”
These are the same Euro-American nations that, in 2011, bombed Libya back to the Middle Ages under their phony pretext of human rights and humanitarianism.
These are the same Euro-American nations that currently sponsor and support the Islamicist terror groups in Syria in order to regime change and dismember that nation.
These are the same Euro-Americans that lead the fraudulent “War on Terrorism” since 9-11 with the NATO invasion and colonial occupation of Afghanistan–not to mention their routine drone bombings of nations from Pakistan to Yemen to Somalia.
And course, there is the little matter of those Western lies about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq to justify the American-led war of aggression against that nation–a war that is causing mass destruction for the Iraqi people.
The more aggressively the Euro-Americans provoke, expand, bomb, or invade other nations, the more these war criminals accuse their enemy states of “militarism,” “aggression,” or being an “existential threat.”
This is the Orwellian worldview and value system of (spit) Western civilization.
It’s not Politically Correct to say this, but the European-Americans are nothing more than sociopathic nations concealed behind the mask of human freedom itself.
It saddens me to admit you are right in everything you said. However, the epicentre of “European civilization” has shifted from Rome, to the Atlantic and more recently to North America (NWO), each of which has its own characteristics. The Roman was a continental empire although it also controlled the seaways between the different provinces and vassal states (Mare Nostrum); the Atlantic was in essence a competitive multi-polar maritime overseas empire; the NWO is a uni-polar global one and brings new challenges to the survival of all of us.
Of what benefit would it have been for Greece had they won their independence? We view it from a materialist perspective and say yes it would be good, but would it really help? Their hearts are still “European” and they have an atheist (at least as a nominal) head. They would likely end up in the same, or worse, position.
As unfortunate as the situation is, it will probably get worse – but we should remember that Greece is protected by the Theotokos. Being humbled is a great blessing when one understands that nothing is possible without God. With God’s help, what was impossible becomes possible. Now the Franks are showing their aggression and hatred openly for those who have eyes to see. In their ignorance, they are helping Greece and destroying themselves. The spiritual laws are taking effect.
Not all Poles are pro-NATO. I just found this:
NATO arrests Mateusz Piskorski, the Polish Leader of the Opposition

@ Saker
Thank you for giving us another bone to gnaw and dissect to keep Russia safe.
We know you are busy man with so many irons on the fire and your texts suffer a bit from haste. But you are exceeding all liberties with the language once you slam a HOWLER ( MOD, please, I’m not shouting) that big on the headline.
Cheers
Kim
As a frenchman, let me say that if you think this country is among the least influenced by US propaganda, then we’re definitively (deleted.MOD) and re-(deleted.MOD).
@ Loris
You are very right, although I don’t know what expletives you used! I have been reading Le Monde, Le Figaro and others and I am appalled.
Salut

Article by EL Doctorow on Poland’ s occupation by NATO.
Ironically, this supposed nationalist policy will result in gay marriage and massive resettlement of Muslims on Polish soil, both major planks of US foreign policy. How nationalist is that?
It seems everything the West touches gets inverted.
Even the souls born into it. Most Westerners seem to think they’re responsible citizens who love the planet. They donate to Greenpeace you know?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but is there not a material difference between the Polish non-aggression treaty with Germany, and the Soviet one. The Soviets and the Germans agreed that each would annexe half of Poland.
@ Alex
No! No! No! It was not like that at all. The Germans moved into Poland and the Soviets did not want the Germans on their border, hence they occupied the eastern part of Poland that was previously part of Russia during WWI (Poland did not exist then as an independent state ). It’s easy to check these things.
Parfois
It is easy to check. You are right. So I did. I think you should look again at the terms of the confidential protocol attached to the non-aggression pact.
Parfois:
You’re a fool. Basically you’re saying that, one thief stole half of your house to prevent another thief from stealing it. I’ve never heard such idiocy. Poland already beat back an attempted Soviet communist invasion in the 1920’s, Stalin just took advantage of an unfortunate situation to finish the job.
“I would compare EU as a brothel masquerading as a continental alliance, a brothel where Americans get serviced for free.”
The French word “baisodrome” works great here as well!
je dirais “niquodrome” car les dirigeants Européens se font niquer par les ricians :-)
Anonymous and Saker,
I couldn’t resist to comment your comment :
Europe as a lovely Lady
Europe is in high alert
Make a war or to avert ?
Nato, over his decision
Europe, under supervision
The decision is now ready :
Europe as a lovely Lady,
Has a manhood in her hands
And is happy with her lands.
She’s delighted, she is proud
With the nato troops around.
In a Europe with high fee
Only blowjob is for free.
But it looks not very funny
Cause is not for everybody.
Only US troops enjoy
Others take a plastic toy.
And, if I could make a general point: the Saker’s analysis is no doubt correct and yet it may be unhelpful. We Western Europeans are indeed supine and complacent and willfully ignorant. Eastern Europeans are misguided in how they go about their national security. Historic enmity and American wealth and power help explain why. The Saker responds with what looks like the mirror image of the historic enmity. His correct analysis would surely have a better chance of proving useful if instead he explained patiently why historic enmity should not be allowed to influence current policy. The Poles are unlikely to stop jeering at Russia if Russians jeer back. It is in Russia’s interest to continue to try to educate Eastern Europe. The Saker can play a part, but not by jeering.
“I know, the argument will be that its only the leaders, that the people of Europe don’t support these policies. But how is it that millions of Europeans took to the streets during the so-called “Euromissile crisis” or to oppose the war in Iraq, but have absolutely nothing to say about their sovereignty being turned into a farce, about their leaders supporting a Nazi regime in Kiev and about being used by the USA a cannon fodder in possible continental war?’
Perhaps we haven’t fully caught up with the extensive rapidity of acceleration into our changed world to appreciate what has happened – Iraq is is only 13 years ago and it is hard to grasp the massive shift and development… I see the effects of these changes everywhere: on the streets, at the workplace, in the home, it’s in the air, the atmosphere: loss of freedoms, fear, intimidation, one could go on and on.
Comatosed, but don’t underestimate the strength of the true thought and spiritual activity.
Thank you Saker, how about another podcast?
“Second, I have not lost hope in two European nations: France and Italy.”
Definitely Italy is less brainwashed than the Anglos. There is a major paper Il Giornale which actually tells the truth (apparently owned by Berlusconi).
Generally people are aware of the truth, both with regards Ukraine and the Empire’s role in wrecking havoc in the world.
However, there is not much resistance amongst masses. People are aware that there’s no democracy, and even large protests make absolutely no difference to the decision making of their government.
It is very hard to be optimistic, yet we must project hope, in fact absolute belief that light will always conquer darkness. Our thoughts have affect on the material world, which is not only a spiritual concept, but has been proven in quantum physics experiments.
So let’s pray for peace with an open heart. That is the best resistance. For the moment.
By fate of geography, the key to European politics and direction is Germany. The key to German politics lies in the upbringing of the present chancellor Angelika Merkel.

Jokes, err, the latest news:

I don’t think Erdogan will enable sanctions against Germany, from next Month, some 1 mil. Turks will go the Germany (visa-frei pakt) and Austria.
ioan,
_No_, and that’s what makes Erdowahn so angry.
Martin
Erdowahn ???!!! man, you have a goood humor, thanks !
but let’s hope you’re right. Anyway, if Merkel succeed in this, will make some “good” gains for her party in the popularity race.(und für sich)
Unfortunately, yes. Shameful and weak. Eastern europeans work for pennies at construction sites in EU, and think that by sucking dick they will get elevated on the same level as their masters. Never gonna happen. They won’t even get to the level of pimps.
And here is the Non-Darwin award for great journalism. And who says there is no free press in Russia?
Sergei Lavrov Grilled Live on Air by Famous Russian War Reporter (Video)
http://russia-insider.com/en/politics/sergei-lavrov-grilled-live-air-famous-russian-war-reporter-video/ri14791
A journalist of race, a race to extinguish unless some of us learn all from people like her and take over…..
A kind of woman most of men on the surface of Earth find it difficult to stand with …..not Mr. Lavrov who, despite the uncomfortable of the situation, exudes a great respect for this mythical journalist. He always seemed to me a gentleman, despite whatever things he must do or say in his duty for his country
When a man, as we say in Spain “dress himself by the feet”, can not help but feel respect for this kind of implacable woman.
“First, I want to believe that the Neocons can still be defeated in the USA and that what I call the “old Anglo guard” can give them the boot.”
This comment does indicate a fatal misunderstanding of American geopolitical dogma. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall the old US dogma of containment was superseded in the first Bush administration by a new policy of absolute American Global hegemony one which Putin correctly labels unipolar hyper-power status. This is the so-called Wolfowitz doctrine which superseded George Kennan’s containment strategy.
A corollary to Wolfowitz is the commitment that the US would not tolerate even a potential rival from emerging on the scene. Bush II actually enshrined the Wolfowitz doctrine as a formal national security memorandum.
Paul Wolfowitz indeed is the most influential neocon on the scene over the past 25 years The fact is, however, that the doctrine which bears his name is a bipartisan geo-political stance embraced by both US political parties and all factions of Elite circles in the US. The Wolfowitz Doctrine was never rescinded or repudiated by the Clinton and Obama forces; in fact it was implemented by them with a vengeance not only in the Middle East but on the Russian border and then the Asian theatre as well.
The sad fact is that the doctrine of US global hyper power status is so ingrained in American Geo-political strategy that is not even discussed. Not by Bernie Sanders not by Donald Trump and really not even by Chomsky and self-styled dissidents in the US. It’s just accepted as a working premise.
Therefore I would not recommend waiting and hoping that so-called “Neocons” will be repudiated. That does not seem likely. Perhaps the only hope might be for a quiet push back by the US military fearful that a confrontational stance by a crazed civilian elite in the US will rapidly lead to thermonuclear war.
yes, certainly looks that way, though I fervently wish that you are wrong.
Those who believe there are any “benign” factions in the American Empire are pushing a grand deception, whether they realize it or not.
The 200+ year old American Empire is fundamentally driven by a lust to colonize the world. This includes the “Anglo old guard” and nationalist demogogues like Donald Trump, who is the Right Wingers’ version of “Hope and Change” for the 2016 selection scam.
The ambition for world domination is essential to the American national character.
Look at the United States’ history as an Anglo colonizer state and its theft of Native Indians lands. In the 19th Century, America had its Manifest Destiny, which it used to rationalize the rise of a continental American empire.
Today, America seeks to expand its unipolar “New World Order” that has existed since the Fall of Communism and create an empire that is planetary in reach and presence.
In order to justify this imperial ambition in their own heads, Americans try to push the deceit that they are the ones being “threatened” by other nations like Russia, when they dare oppose the Ameican World Order. This is the Orwellian “reality” that Americans live in.
The American people themselves–not just the elite but also the Middle Class–are guilty of supporting American imperialism.
The Americans’ only concern is whether they will be able to get away with their crimes and whether they stand to benefit from these crimes enough to warrant the risks.
The United States of America is a nation of 300 million clinical psychopaths armed with weapons to destroy the world and humanity several times over–and. worst of all, they possess the will to do so if they don’t get their way.
The blood of millions of people that America has already spilled from the Middle East to Africa to Latin America to Asia to Eurasia is incontroveritble testament.
@Martin
I’ve looked at the Money Masters video link you posted. In general, I thought it was well done despite using a very broad brush. I did feel that his comments on the Soviet Union were rather superficial. Perhaps because few in the West (myself included) have much knowledge of Soviet economic and financial structures.
There was some interesting material on the US Civil War which I had not seen before. In my opinion, the US Civil War should be an important case study for independence movements everywhere. Some of the most important reasons for the war (and the necessity for maintaining the union) were unfortunately omitted. That should be a video itself though.
The Starikov document you posted I found also good. He does seem to have the unfortunate tendency (perhaps among Russians?) to look to the US as a model without really understanding how that model works.
It’s always very frustrating to me that the Russians have a strong and established model for financial structures (the Soviet model) and they nevertheless seem to have no interest in using that as a starting point. Perhaps I am being to harsh here though.
Are you familiar at all with the process of money supply management under the Soviet Gosbank? My understanding is that the Soviet system was quite similar to the sovereign money system as described in your video and by occasional commentators here such as MEFOBILLS
Russia will lose the fight with a dominant orthodox christian ideology and a president – Putin – who is an economical liberal.
The Saker’s comment on the Italians should make them proud, but I must dissent based on evidence. As mentioned by Ottokom, Italy is a full-fledge colony of the us of a. There is a total of 114 American bases and military offices on the territory. Those who followed the Wikileaks revelations, know that the American embassy keeps a close watch and control on each of the vast number of parliamentarians, senators. secretaries, under-secretaries, and their servants. The Americans as a whole consider Italy as an appendage inhabited by people ready to shine their shoes in exchange of a nod and a compliment.
The newspapers are under strict Zionist control, just as in the States. For that matter, Italians learned of the disturbances in France via RT or similar. The regime media has essentially blacked out the news.
On the other hand, an Italian parliamentarian has recently proposed a law to make it a crime to negate the holocaust, which, I think, is telling.
Besides, Italy hosts the Vatican, the heaviest drag on anything that can be called independent thinking – quite apart from being acknowledged as a den of depravity, not much different from the Rome of Alexander VI and companions. Still, Italians associate hell with a place where, as a rule, there are plenty of naked women, and with the devils you can always compromise.
Furthermore, Italians are always happy to come to the help of the winner – read, in the instance, their colonizing master. And they know that the situation is critical, but not serious.
But they have a quality that makes them acceptable folks as a whole. For, if you say anything critical about Jews, for example, you have the whole Zionist universe against you. But if an Italian says that Italians are a hopeless bunch, especially when it comes to resisting authoritarian abuse, he has the whole of Italy eager to shake his hand in agreement.
I grew up in Chicago during the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. LOTS of Poles, Lithuanians, Ukrainians, Bohemians, Croats and other Eastern Europeans living in that town back then. Sizable population of Eastern European Jews as well. Everyone of them absolutely loathed Russians. Russophobia was, as a certain group used to say, nursed to them in their mother’s milk. There wasn’t a thing that Russia could ever do that was right in their opinions. In their minds, the Russians spent all their time plotting and scheming how to come get them and drag them back to the gulags–to enslave them and, indeed, all Americans just like the “captive nations.” Having made his political chops in Chicago, Obomber well knows this and has fanned the flames of Russophobia both in white America and especially in Eastern Europe. Yes, Obomber’s warmongering quite overtly makes the promise to these people that the Russians will be pounded down by America for one last time. That is why he is constantly talking trash to and about Putin. He is worse than Trump with his personal put-downs. Killary is from Chicago too and she also knows the same game and will play the white ethnic hatred of Russia card to try to get elected. If she succeeds, I don’t think war with Russia can be avoided because the woman has no self control when it comes to settling personal scores. And, she does despise Putin. She calls him the new Hitler, when, in fact, that title probably better befits her. I don’t think the actual Hitler was any better at whipping up hatred of the Russians than Obomber or Killary have been. Be very afraid of how this game is being played by our American leaders and where it is headed. Believe nothing you read or hear in the Western media. They are all in the tank for the Neocons, whom Obomber has facilitated and of whom Killary is one.
I always feel a need to disclaim in any forum post that I am not Russian or of Russian descent. No need to accuse me of being a Putin troll pounding on a keyboard in St. Petersburg.
This is probably one of the only sites that you are not likely to get that attack at. We almost all have been accused of that before.
@ Uncle B (+ Chicago expat):
“This is probably one of the only sites that you are not likely to get that attack at. We almost all have been accused of that before.”
+ 1000!!!!
You ain’t kidding. When I’m “out there” in the interwebz wilderness, I would get accused of being [and I quote] a Putin-bot (or a Kremlin paid poster). But ironically… over here; I might be one of those secretly suspected as being a “Putin-hater.”
Meh… what can you do? As they say… you can’t please everyone, can you…

Will my post not get published because I asked justified questions?
Martin, we have a new facility added to the moderators page, which – me being very sleepy at this hour – I mismanaged and I’m sorry to say I deleted a post of yours accidentally. I really do apologise, please understand it was completely inadvertent. Wont happen again. Mod-on-duty
Hello Vineyard Moderator – PS,
ok, I can understand that.
Seen that myself from your side in 2014, although back then it was still the very old blog interface and things are probably different now.
I have a copy and post it again. Maybe it sounds a bit too critical for your taste, but it is a response to Saker who carelessly set “all the Europeans” equal as “weak”, “bad” and what not. In theory that’s true and I often complained and continue to complain about it myself. But it has to be done properly, rather than black/while/generalized.
Especially not: While hilariously implying that “the Americans” are a single penny better.
So, here is my missing post:
@Honorable Mr. Saker:
While I agree with you about Poland’s role (see my comments in the Germany SitRep where such a Pole [or the same, now reanmed?] also bugged me all the time), and while it is certainly true that the Europeans don’t provide much reason to be proud of, how much better are your beloved stupid dumb brainwashed American average Joes (through all classes up to the highest degrees of educational performance)?
Or African or Asian or Australian or Antartican?
As for your hope that the NeoCons can be defeated in the USA, unless Dr. Ron Paul (not Rand Paul and certainly not Sanders!) becomes a “young” President – otherwise it is cynical self-irony to have such hopes in seriousness.
Although, there is still hope to disable the NeoCons:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-06-04/caught-tape-day-teleprompter-died
You, Mr. Saker claim to be a Russian, but you live in the USA and are proud of loving Florida.
You grew up in Switzerland and Western Europe half a century after your parents left Tsarist Russia as enemies of the working class. One of your parents is Russian. You could have moved to Russia for 25 years now, but don’t and didn’t.
I appreciate many of your articles, but have my own opinion and never blindly agree (you also don’t like that then, although it is the opposite of how you describe “the Europeans”).
Also, how does it come that Eastern-Europe suddenly belongs to Europe again, didn’t you claim it has nothing to do with reallll Europe (and is inferiour)???
I must agree with this Lech in one point:
“I can only conclude that the Europeans deserve the leaders they have.”
“””””It’s Russia who let USA take wealth, media and power of Eastern European nations (and partially even it’s own). Nobody will start a putsch to take power without external help, and neither Russia nor China are interested in financing and executing one. Show me one example where people taken the power without external help and we can talk.”””””
You also forget how many Europeans are deeply unhappy with the NATO-Propaganda against Russia. As there is no true Left anymore, this gets reflected by the rise of center-right “populist” parties, be it in UK, France, Denmark, Austria, Germany, Hungary and (a bit different) even in Poland.
You completely misinterpreted the events of Gotthard Tunnel Celebration as “””””“New European” homo-erotic “culture””””””
It has not much to do with the EU, but the same process of Gayification and Satanization is underway also in the USA and around the globe.
Those behind the scenes are internationalist 0.0001% somethings, never heard of Bohemian Grove or Skull&Bones?
You protect “the Americans” (for no reason) while bashing “the European” general public (for some reason, but hardly more than in the USA where you ignore it).
Big words that on the surface *appear* to make sense, but the underlying analysis is flawed and sounds like the 100% opposite of what your chief scientist Scott had been claiming only 2 weeks ago.
Don’t make such generalized silly statements.
Russia’s biggest enemies are inside Russia. Are they good Russians then?
Unfortunately your grand hero isn’t doing anything against them.
Not after 16 years in power and he doesn’t appear to have any such plans. Instead he promotes Moaaaar privitization.
Think about that.
Very disappointing on all layers.
Not only your article, but a million times more so the situation.
And I repeat – A sound mind must agree with Lech on that:
“””””It’s Russia who let USA take wealth, media and power of Eastern European nations (and partially even it’s own). Nobody will start a putsch to take power without external help, and neither Russia nor China are interested in financing and executing one. Show me one example where people taken the power without external help and we can talk.”””””
As Russia has proven to be unreliable, do not blame the quite helpless Europeans for not starting a revolution.
Every time there is some referendum they do vote for Russia, but the Cabal leaders ignore the public’s vote.
If there were a reliable Russia, one could try something.
But watch out what happened to Odessa, Mariupol and Donbass after 100% “we will protect you!!!” promises?
How has Russia helped Brasil or Venezuela just this moment?
And how it comes Putin meets and harmonically holds hands with Tsipras who sold out his entire country after the referendum last year?
Russia’s behaviour is a farce!
You and Scott and VVP are always right and all others are just too weak and too dumb and “deserve their leaders”.
Come on, it gets boring.
Reminder: It is Russia itself who doesn’t permit court trials for the Re-Creation of the Soviet Union to get accepted.
Your own elite is full of traitors. And what’s the best that Putin comes up with? Kudrin.
Oh, really …
There have been better times on this blog.
Ok, _these_ zomby Poles really deserve their EU “elite”.
https://www.rt.com/news/345447-poland-anti-government-march/
But even though they appear to be many, don’t forget that they represent the clear minority in Poland’s election last winter.
Wonder how they got mobilized like that.
And the more so I wonder why Russia cannot do similar things in the other direction, and not only in Poland but more so in Brazil and Austria.
Am I asking too much?
Ah, what, how does that fit into your definition of “the Europeans” ???
Russia is the only one who has the power, together with China.
Don’t blame Malta or Moldova for not standing up to the Empire. Only Russia/China have the power. But they keep missing chance after chance after chance. Can Malta or Cyprus be held responsible for that then?
Martin
Now the European Parliament wants to ban all referendums in EU (read on Kopp-verlag.de)
Yes, tnx.
But don’t we all understand that: That’s to protect “European Values” and “True Democracy”.
Why would we want to vote for or against anything in this perfect dream world?
But at least on the national election level it increasingly appears, as if the election farce of Austria will have to be repeated:
Election debacle in Austria: After the election is before the election
Torben Grombery
In election chaos to the runoff for the Austrian president, a contesting of the election because of numerous “irregularities” is emerging more and more clearly. One need not be a legal expert to predict to that with such an array of “choice Breakdown” – and at a distance of 30 863 votes – a mandate relevance is relatively easy to establish.

@ Martin:
I agree with your post by 99%, if not higher. (And I’m glad you managed to save the text and re-post it =D )
@ ioan:
“Now the European Parliament wants to ban all referendums in EU [..]”
Not surprising in the least, the EU (particularly the self-appointed EU Commission) is an autocratic, totalitarian regime as demonstrated here…
.
Why we should ban referenda on EU policies [article from back in April]
http://www.euractiv.com/section/global-europe/opinion/why-we-should-ban-referenda-on-eu-policies/
[^Quite the sinister article, btw. It does give you an insight about what goes through the minds of the Eurocrats, if you can stomach it, that is.]
But more importantly…
.
EU Vows To Use New Powers To Block All Elected ‘Far Right’ Populists From Power
“[..] The Commission can now trigger a “rule of law mechanism” (Article 7 TEU) against nations it perceives as deviating from “the common constitutional traditions of all Member States.” Ultimately, “far-reaching sanctions” can be exerted, and a country can be stripped of all voting rights in the EU and have funding blocked.”

Yeah, I know, in that case every party which is not corresponding or satisfy their taste will be labelled as far-right. The sad side of this, actually , is that even the RT is using the same language. For example : the German AfD is “far-right”, the French Front National is the same on RT, and , and.
Martin from S.E.B., I follow your posts and I like your unabashed support of the previous ”system”, or maybe “culture.” The term does not matter much, really, but I use it for simplicity. Personally, I travelled to the USSR as a young person and later travelled to the DDR through my work. As mentioned repeatedly, I found that the picture presented by the Western media on Russia and the DDR was false to the core.
However, though he is the last to need it, I come to the ‘defense’ of the Saker for the part of your comment when you point out that he lives in Florida and likes the state.
I live in another state of the same country and I like it too (as a state). Many of us with similar feelings about the whole thing (I mean culture, mode of life, politics, neo-liberalism, exceptionalism, capitalism etc.) tend to live in a virtual island – meaning, ‘I am here but do not belong.’
As one who has moved several times in his life, I can assure you that moving from one place to another (let alone from one country to another), means much, much more than finding another house and transfer there your belongings.
Even so, many parts of the world (I am thinking of Europe), are essentially cultural and economic colonies of the exceptional nation. Which makes them even worse than the original, it were possible.
Somewhere from my notes I remember a comment by Sadat. He said that the worse part of the effective British occupation of Egypt were those Egyptians who vied to appear the most flattering and subservient to their masters. Multiply that by the many countries of Europe subservient to the empire and you get the idea.
Therefore, we (at least those who feel the same way), are champing at the bit and doing whatever possible – well realizing, at least in my case, that the possible is miniscule – to associate with persons of the same frame of mind (like yourself and others), spreading the information to other friends etc. All this in the hope and with the assumption that ‘every little bit helps.’
And, …assuming that what we see, read or observe represents the actual reality, I myself would like the Russian leaders to be much less polite towards their American ‘partners’ – to the point of saying, e.g. “Get the f…k off Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Venezuela, Arfica … etc.” – if you don’t we will not warn you again”… or similar.
But, again, I am no diplomat and continue to have a glimmer of hope that the present Russian recipients of the exceptional s…t (read maneuvers, orange revolutions, colossal media distortions, etc.) know what they are doing.
@ Jeremy, Ralph
Perhaps some accurate reading of and reflection upon what Marx thought about religion might be helpful here.
In the 1844 Introduction to his 1843 Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right, Karl Marx wrote, in part:
“Religious distress is at the same time the expression of real distress and the protest against real distress. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is required for their real happiness. The demand to give up the illusion about its condition is the demand to give up a condition which needs illusions.”

Zur Kritik der Hegelschen Rechtsphilosophie. Einleitung, http://www.mlwerke.de/me/me01/me01_378.htm ]
***
Here is August Cline’s incisive comment on it:
“… Usually all one gets from the above passage is “Religion is the opium of the people” (with no ellipses to indicate that something has been removed). Sometimes “Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature” is included. If you compare these with the full quotation, it’s clear that a great deal more is being said than what most people are aware of.
In the above quotation, Marx is saying that religion’s purpose is to create illusory fantasies for the poor. Economic realities prevent them from finding true happiness in this life, so religion tells them that this is OK because they will find true happiness in the next life. Although this is a criticism of religion, Marx is not without sympathy: people are in distress and religion provides solace, just as people who are physically injured receive relief from opiate-based drugs.
The quote is not, then, as negative as most portray (at least about religion). In some ways, even the slightly extended quote which people might see is a bit dishonest because saying “Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature…” deliberately leaves out the additional statement that it is also the “heart of a heartless world.”
What we have is a critique of society that has become heartless rather than of religion which tries to provide a bit of solace. One can argue that Marx offers a partial validation of religion in that it tries to become the heart of a heartless world. For all its problems, religion doesn’t matter so much — it is not the real problem. Religion is a set of ideas, and ideas are expressions of material realities. Religion and belief in gods are a symptom of a disease, not the disease itself.
Still, it would be a mistake to think that Marx is uncritical towards religion — it may try to provide heart, but it fails. For Marx, the problem lies in the obvious fact that an opiate drug fails to fix a physical injury — it merely helps you forget pain and suffering. Relief from pain may be fine up to a point, but only as long as you are also trying to solve the underlying problems causing the pain. Similarly, religion does not fix the underlying causes of people’s pain and suffering — instead, it helps them forget why they are suffering and gets them to look forward to an imaginary future when the pain will cease.
Even worse, this “drug” is administered by the same oppressors who are responsible for the pain and suffering in the first place. Religion is an expression of more fundamental unhappiness and symptom of more fundamental and oppressive economic realities. Hopefully, humans will create a society in which the economic conditions causing so much pain and suffering would be eradicated and, therefore, the need for soothing drugs like religion will cease. Of course, for Marx such a turn of events isn’t to be “hoped for” because human history was leading inevitably towards it. … …”

Now I say it: Bravo, Anonymous!
One can be 100% sure that crap can’t replace drugs. Marxist crap the least of all.
Oh, you appear to have a lot of experience with drungs and none with Marxism.
Right, because only losers and weaklings have the desire to stick their heads into the sand (aka to take drugs), while Marxists prefer to use their brain for more useful tasks than hallucinations, such as _thinking_ out their future visions, and working on solving problems, rather than drinking, smoking, sniffing or injecting the “away” for a few minutes (while in reality making them worse each time).
Oh, my friend, if you would only guess how much Marxist crap I had to sniff in my life! I tried not to eat it (which was extremely hard, even downright dangerous in the camp you seem to love so much, but I doubt you ever lived in).
And 1 minute was enough to _prove_ that you are wrong with that claim (unless you are …) :

I have come the the very same conclusions about Europe which is obvious if what I post is read. (Doubtful!)Even to starting a Sum-of-US.org crowd informer of Europe’s immanent danger of collapse into US hegemony death camp.
I too am in mortal danger, but then we humans are finite. I realised that my goal is now that I get to Russian somehow, learn Russian enough to qualify for citizenship and then to apply for free Siberian land. Maybe I’d be fpollowed. Netherlanders and the Japanese need to save themselves instanter.
Just turned 80 with three death attempts last year alone. An interactive brain chip inserted in an American dental college in Amsterdam in 2011 to drive me insane and paranoid (considered easy at the time) so my chances of telling my story would never be realised, then to live locked up someplace as older than old and damaged goods. Death simple, removal of the brain chip and study of it and my brain and innards, notes made to add to US medical research how to create passive human beings in useful numbers to change human identity world wide. Hegemony you know.
Finally there is enough of a record of proofs world wide that retarding humanity permanently is the underpinning of global US hegemony.
Beginning to act on that knowledge is vital…as soon as….
This is a continuation of my previous comment: Europe counties in Union form, agreed to become :House Negroes by silently supporting the almost unknown facts of the legalised decision of Barosso as appointed head of the European Commission to allow implantation of the brain chips across the continent done in secret to newborn infants (pressed into soft skulls)as well as adults. And on across all Asia, Africa, South America, etc.
In the last year the predictable results of years of testing the chips on German and then US prison populations, since years before 9/11 and then inserted in the millions after the law removing 9/11 across the US, then in EU civilians secretly. The birth rate of retarded children globally has risen by over 40% and is increasing.
Both Sitka mosquito and Aids were US designed in Africa jungle labs to address specific problems natural to being an human. Same sexual attraction and lifestyle choice is a biological anomaly, not a choice. But taught as depraved, evil choice to be despised.
Powerful insane medical persons, maybe Nazi based at first, wanted to remove the same sex links because they believed the exceptionalist claim, humans can do anything, and Aids became a tool of eliminating and punishing simultaneously, the humans who engaged in same sex relationships. President Reagan was an amazing believer in same sex as an evil choice to be blotted out so his refusal to organise medical ways to reverse Aids lasted ten years and more of CDC “reluctance to touch Aid’s research”.
Barosso is anther version of facist Ronnie, only more fake intellectual. He authorised the Brain chip insertions. The Brain chip takes on the problem of dissenting adults. Non-obedient to pure facism. Same with the Zitka altered mosquito which was discovered by Chinese scientists this year. The lead in the drinking water in Michigan and across the nation is the same, affect brain development in children giving irreversible damage. The politicians that knowingly allowed rusted out water pipes to continue to be used were the new generation of ambitious, amoral,(1970s) men being picked to act in ways that could destroy millions by water alone. Done.
To be repeated in Europe, which is why all laws had to be removed from use by 9/11, later under criminal world war laws, US NATO removes the rest of normal laws. As do the wars of choice, regime change.
I seem to be one of the very few who remembers these situations and has stitched them together into relevant common sense form..Or, may am too isolated. But I need protection now as Netherlands has been obedient too long.
One man, or one country or many countries, cannot take over the world in secret, as if from inside a small closet with the door closed, lights off. The early years of the world takeover were done soto voce, but not actually in secret at all, the media was during those early years put under Pentagon and Wall Street control and liar’s news, liar’s finance.Which it is now to the 100% point of bankruptcy as people stop buying lying newspapers.
when the global government residing in switzerland would decide, russian would be official language at least in europe, but since they do not want that, from unknown reason, russia is excluded. perhaps the reason is, that some de-luxe arabs are governing the world, through monetary economy?
Of course, if your understanding of Europe is based on the corporate media and what the politicians say, you might well believe all Europeans kowtow to the U.S. all the time. But they’re the same politicians and media that would have you think Putin is the devil incarnate.
As an Englishman living in Spain I beg to differ. Europeans on the street are far more aware of what is going on than you suggest, and oppose it at the ballot box far more often than the corporate media would have you believe.
If you did a count of how many Europeans don’t vote their leaders into power, and compared it with those who do, you would find – more often than not – the former far outnumbers the latter. To believe the opinions of a nation’s leader and its media reflect the views of much more than a third of their citizens is to enter very troubled waters indeed. If we are truthful, in most cases, it is usually far less than that.
It is the population of the U.S. that is afraid of imaginary Russian aggression most, as they know so little of Europe and Europeans. Although Poland, and most of the other former Soviet satellite nations Margaret Thatcher invited into the E.U. on behalf of the U.S. without asking anybody, may lean heavily towards paranoid, right wing U.S. imperialism, countries like Spain have taken a sharp turn leftwards. The nation may going even further leftwards in this month’s re-run of last year’s election.
Your comprehension of Europe has been influenced by assuming that the inclusion of East Europe somehow reflects opinion of the whole of Europe. I assure you Europe is just as divided now as it always has been. Your idea of it is distorted by regarding Central and Eastern Europe as being part of a greater Europe. Geographically perhaps, but politically it never was. The reality is, despite what the papers say, as far as the people are concerned, it isn’t now. The E.U. has done little to alter the perception of a disunited Europe in their minds. The U.K. referendum opinion polls could be considered as a more realistic indication of what many Europeans think of a united Europe than your uninformed opinion.
The West and East of Europe have always been entirely separate entities, each composed of smaller separate entities, constantly warring with one another. The Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Austro Hungarian Empire are good examples of that.
I think you ought to be looking closer to what’s happening in your adopted backyard before painting all Europe with the same brush, and ask yourself how many European elections could end up having two nutjobs running for the top job, discounting Poland, which managed the double double by having twins running for its two top jobs not so long ago.
And, as a postscript, you rather egg the pudding using France as a fine example of European exceptionalism. If anything France is far closer to Poland with its broad support for right wing parties and slavish adherence to U.S. foreign policy. As for the country’s imperial adventures in Africa, they often outshame the U.K.’s, for the amount of death and destruction they leave in their wake. Painting Europe with a such broad brush is not the best method of achieving the most accurate portrait.
Thanks a lot, Brian, for your testimony, it shows that not only you live in Spain, but you live with your eyes wide open and really appreciate us, Spanish people. I am aware that most of the English who choose to live in Spain, once retired, they came not only because of the sun, but because they really love us. You are welcome.
I am travelling far from Spain and really do not have the time nor the mood to give an answer much appropiate than given by you. It is for the same reasons you are pointing out that I disagreed in considering France and Italy as the bastions of rebellion in the EU ( just that consideration makes me laugh ).
More crazy stuff – the appointment of a Polish rock star to head Ukie Railway Authority is followed by a musical demand by Ukie People’s Artist to head Polish Railway:

You just can’t make this stuff up.
Hi,
You are seeing things in an antagonistic way. I wish to see the situation further. I wish I could understand why the EU voters, political parties, thinkers, are so blinded.
We are blinded by massive fearmongering campaigns.
We need that people intelligent, humanist – good intellectuals- rescue/save us from ourselves.
Arer we affected by a massive and collective «Stockholm Syndrome»(???)
I wish I was able to diagnose this strange illness.
Please help us combat the rampant fascist beast.
Your enemy is also our enemy. (I, Manuel, am a Portuguese citizen dissident from NATO and EU)
The Serbs have not been destroyed by the neocons. The democratic process is rigged against the wishes of the people and is used by neocons to put their men in charge. In most of Europe, and certainly in the UK, people have morphed into sheeple and now willingly accept their role as the neocons’ foot-soldiers. The Serbs have not yet found their Putin, but they will, and then NATO and its thousands of NGOs will be thrown out of the country. This can happen in Serbia, I am not sure if any western country would dare kick sand into the faces of the neocons.
What hope did and do Serbs have when even Russia worked against them? Russia was selling huge quantities of arms in the 1990’s to the Bosnian Muslims, through Slovenia. There are detailed records of Russians meeting in Slovenia for this and their shipments. For Croatia, they even had a specified island for their delivery of weapons.
Then, they either approved or abstained from giving their UN veto to the sanctions of the Serbs and Bosnian Serbs, the bombing of the Bosnian Serbs, and the kangaroo court (ICTY).
They were also helpful to Montenegro and Milo Djukanovic’s mafia regime when it was breaking away from Serbia. The Russians seemed happy about it and poured investment in during this time.
Now, Montenegro has placed sanctions on Russia and it (the government/Djukanovic) is putting out the welcome mat to NATO. Russia should have realized that those who would betray their closest ethnic kin would do the same, at the western’s command to Russia.
Russia also did not help Serbia rebuilt in the aftermath of the savage NATO bombing. Serbia appealed to them and even flew their government officials, reporters and other Russians over to look at the damage and ask then to lend a hand.
Milosevic was still in charge and not the puppet government, but instead Russia started threatening Serbia over gas bill debts and said it would turn off the gas if Serbia did not pay.
Yet Russia has forgiven billions in debt to countries like Afghanistan, and Serbia itself forgave Iraq’s $1 billion dollar debt to it about 10 years ago.
Did Moscow really have no better path than what she chose? You even suggest that Georgia is likely to become a vassal soon. Isn’t it possible that Russia was all carrot, and no stick? As an example, the Baltic states treated their Russian minorities quite badly, but did Moscow do anything? It may be that Moscow didn’t want a fight with the EU over that, but this gets to the whole problem with not responding: You convince your opponents that you are weak. A bunch of military maneuvers are probably a lot less impressive than doing something that costs money but shows you have heart.
It somehow seems that even when Russia stands up for herself, she immediately tries to back off and go into negotiations. Take the war with Georgia, for example. What if Russia had taken more territory based on some historical claim for Abkhazia and South Ossetia and helped the locals keep it and then said “We will pull back to the old borders once Georgia recognizes these two states”? The West wasn’t going to fight over this, and Tbilisi would have wanted to regain control of their territory.
Perhaps Russian diplomacy (and the schools that teach diplomats) is based on divide and rule. The trouble is that the Western states are not independent. Vassals can’t be played much. Soon, there will be NATO or American troops in almost all European countries. This is quite an achievement for the US, and seems like a failure for Russia.
Paul II, every word is true.
What Russia does is a bit of barking and then self-sabotage 5 minutes before a fight hs been won, then retreat.
Meanwhile I lost my hope that this is only some unlucky row of “coincidences”.
It seems that Moscow doesn’t want the initiative in the various struggles against NATO – like it is afraid as then NATO might be put into a situation with no decent way out or something. It is hard to figure out what the actual thinking may be based on. In any case, it just somehow feels like Moscow wants to be reactive about almost all foreign policy matters. The move into Syria was after well over four years of war. Even something like the Armenia-Azerbaijan struggle seems reactive. This made sense 15 or 20 years ago, as everything was a stall for time to try to get back on her feet, but leaving so many opportunities for one’s “partners” to create major headaches, possibly at the same time, seems dangerous now. In fairness, the AR-AZ issue may be getting more energy from the Kremlin now, but they certainly took time to get around to it, and they still don’t seem to be dealing with the “full spectrum dominance” approach of the West. Schools, churches, charities, media, publishing houses, and just about everything should be oriented towards getting the foreign policy result you want – at least from the US point of view. While the US is working on this, Moscow sends someone like Zurabov to a vital country. Does this make any sense?
Agreed, makes no sense, unless they are not working for the right side.
Now they want to re-allow western NGO’s for humanitarian reasons. It is like opening the door to color revolutions. And facebook, twitter, instagram etc are still not blocked.
The central bank is still not freed.
Nothing is moving into the right direction.
I agree with you ,you solve problems when they start .Not when they get out of control. What worked for Russia as the Russian Empire, and the USSR doesn’t work today. In both those other times Russia had “distance” on her borders. Large areas of buffer land. And in the Soviet times in particular, allied countries that provided a huge buffer zone. Today she is surrounded by mostly, either enemy states,or weak states which themselves are under attack by the West.Thinking that things will work out as they did in the past is a huge mistake.Ukraine was/is vital as an allied “Rus” nation. And should “never” have been allowed to fall under Western control. We may disagree with the thinking of Western statesmen and thinkers. But we should never just dismiss their thinking. From Bismark (and before) to Brzezinski, they plotted to destroy Russia through splitting Ukraine from her. It “could be” that they know a few things that we here don’t know about geopolitics. They must have had serious reasons to all think the same way for centuries.I don’t dismiss their evil plots as nonsense.A quarter of the entire ethnic Rus live in Ukraine. And during the Russian Empire and the USSR it was one of the major centers of those states. Losing that without a fight is “always” a bad idea.Having a state like that as the fascist “anti-Russia” as Pakistan is to India,is an even worse idea. And as you mentioned Georgia. The time to have solved the problem there was in 2008. Saakashvili should have been “dethroned” at that time. A new friendly government installed to replace him. And Abkhazia and South Ossetia reunited within Georgia as “fully” autonomous regions. Backed up by their own self-defense forces. And it all enshrined within a Georgian-Russian treaty. Georgia would “officially” get those territories back. And they would have full homerule. Which would have given both sides an “incentive” to keep the peace.Today RT is reporting fighting between police and terrorists in Kazakhstan.Which along with Ukraine and Belarus,is an area vital to Russia’s national interests.Around a third or more of the people there are ethnic “Rus”. And its connection to Russia is centuries old. Does anyone believe this would be happening if Russia had adopted a strong (and harsh) policy on Color Revolutions, when the first one reared its ugly head. And helped the governments affected to crush it without any mercy. Expelled the foreign elements involved (those not shot first). And purged the traitors that assisted them. This is a “fight to the death”,its not a time for “colleagues and pardners”.Certainly not when those colleagues and pardners are carrying knives in their pockets to plunge into your back at the “right moment”.
I think a serious problem in most Ex-Soviet states is a deep identity crisis of its populations. Instead of making peace with their own past, people tend to point fingers at neighbors to shrug off their own implications. As identity crises cannot be solved by imposing anything, Russia – who conquered its own crisis – can only wait as a friendly neighbor. There is not much more it can do, I am afraid.
People like to run straight once set on a track. People keep running straight even if they know a change of direction would be healthy. Unfortunately, most people have to crash into a brick wall head-on before changing course. Fortunately, Russia is in absolutely no obligation whatsoever to protect against self-inflicted injuries. Yet, Russia is kind enough to warn the runners of the consequences, but will not impose decisions.
It is pretty much what Christianity is about: God assists and counsels people praying and listening, but God would not interfere with peoples’ free will. Freedom to act at will and responsibility for one’s actions are an indivisible package. If I recall it correctly, Vladimir V. Putin recently stated that “you cannot save somebody who is determined to drown”, which sums it up in one sentence.
But policy is set by the top 0.01% or so. It hardly matters what the masses think in terms of all kinds of policies. Does 51% of the Italian, Spanish, Greek, etc. population want more NATO troops and missile systems near the border with Russia?
Not denying the identity crisis, which seems particularly acute in the Ukraine. However, isn’t a lot of that an extreme anger from perceived betrayal? It would not be unreasonable for pro-Russian Ukrainians to feel that Putin let them down or even betrayed them. Not trying to put all the blame on Putin or the current period in the Kremlin, as the anger seems rather deep. Just as a simple question, what did Moscow do for and regarding all the ethnically Russian people stuck in foreign countries after the massive betrayal that brought down the USSR?
Paul II
Just to put more oil in your comment : think what will happen if Russia will grant full citizenship to all Russians living abroad (mainly in the former Soviet Union). It will be funny, at least, according to the Russian military doctrine.(just check out)
Paul II
Whereas I can understand if the Donbass people feel betrayed, it is nevertheless necessary to look at the different conditions, in particular with respect to Crimea.
The peninsula was an autonomous region of Ukraine before and had all legal institutions in place. It was also clear since more than 20 years, the the Crimean population wanted to leave Ukraine and return to Russia. Hence, a legal and peaceful transition to the Russian Federation was possible.
In the Donbass, the population did not want to quit Ukraine. As far as I understand, the protest against corruption was supported by about everyone in Ukraine – only to find this wish flushed down the toilet by a criminal gang. Contrary to western Ukraine, the Donbass was not going to accept the coup. In particular because the gang made it very clear on the first day that they considered the ethnic Russian people as third-class citizens: just good enough to pay taxes. The term “pro-Russian” is pure western propaganda since day one of the coup in Kiev. Now, due to the war, things probably have changed. But it was not possible for Russia to accept the Donbass as member of the Russian Federation in a legal manner.
Regarding the dissolution of the Soviet Union, we should recall that it was a decision of the leaders of all Soviet regions against the will of their peoples. Hence, before anyone in Ukraine or any other former Soviet republic starts to point fingers at Russia, it would be time to point fingers at their own former leaders. I was told by Russians that people in the Soviet Union were utterly tired by the system. Certainly, its dissolution caused mixed feelings, but I am skeptical if the encrusted Soviet system could have been improved quickly enough.
The EU is heading towards a repetition pretty fast. I think it will and has to break apart because it seems incapable of reform, in particular for becoming a democratic union instead of being a puppet regime for the most powerful companies.
Isn’t your solution to the fracturing of the former Soviet republics precisely how Russia handled Chechnya under both Yeltsin and Putin? And isn’t it possible that all the resources that had to be directed at that one trouble spot (with tensions, as always, covertly inflamed by American meddling) diminished Russia’s ability to act elsewhere within its sphere of influence? And perhaps convincingly demonstrated the futility of using lethal force to solve political issues? After Afghanistan and Chechnya, it may be that Russia desperately wants to avoid military escalations except as a last resort, a lesson that America never has, but needs to learn. (Though having been burnt so many times in places like Vietnam and numerous countries in the Middle East, one wonders about the basic mental competence of American leadership.) As former military intelligence analyst the Saker will tell you, Russia has never had the resources to squander like the United States does and so they are very cautious and deliberate, unlike their cowboy “partners.” They seem to always carefully study and only reticently respond to the cowboys, rather than risk setting them off with unprovoked moves. Perhaps a thousand years of living in a bad neighborhood, with Huns, Mongols, Turks and other hordes to deal with, has made them cautious. The Europeans may not appreciate it, but Russia has served as a buffer to protect them from such elements for all that time. There is such a thing as a national psyche.
@Losing that without a fight is “always” a bad idea
But Russia lost Ukraine after two devastating wars, revolution, and civil war.
@They must have had serious reasons to all think the same way for centuries
The reason is the multisecular hatred of Orthodoxy which pervades the apostate ‘West’. Orthodoxy’s witness is the permanent reminder of their spiritual failure, which they cannot (or don’t want to) admit. The witness must be silenced or removed.
I fell like the field Negro. Ours masters in Europe have sold us to Washington and the Zionists. But between us and those masters (liars, thieves and murderers) we have the house Negroes and those are so afraid of loosing what they have that they are working against their brothers. They cannot even understand that we and they are going to be the cannon fodder of the next war. They do not want to see that our real enemy is Washington and the Zionists and not Russia, China or Iran.
For me the greedy hyena is Washington and the Zionists, Poland is just run by fools like in 1939. The Baltic states and Poland should remember how France and England helped them in 1939. If they want to repeat that experience, it is up to them but it is not clever.
Saker said “But how is it that millions of Europeans took to the streets during the so-called “Euromissile crisis” or to oppose the war in Iraq, but have absolutely nothing to say about their sovereignty being turned into a farce, about their leaders supporting a Nazi regime in Kiev and about being used by the USA a cannon fodder in possible continental war?”
The Europeans are pre-occupied with the war of weaponized migration brought to them via NATO (US and Israel, mainly) – And you have to admit it’s a deadly distraction for Europeans, on many levels, and by extension is directly aimed at Russia
Saker said “I can only conclude that the Europeans deserve the leaders they have.”
That’s a bit unfair- I know more deserve the rotten leadership, in Canada, then the Europeans deserve theirs.
Anyone mention the rabid reckless megalomaniac & mass murderer Erdo’s contribution (despite Turkey being in Asia) to this Darwin award contest?
May 31 – Reuters (Daren Butler): “President Tayyip Erdogan officially designated the religious movement of U.S.-based Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen a terrorist group and said he would pursue its members whom he accuses of trying to topple the government. The move puts the organization built by his former ally legally on par with Kurdish militants currently fighting the army in Turkey’s southeast. Erdogan might use the designation in pressing Washington to extradite Gulen, a step U.S. authorities are nonetheless unlikely to take without concrete grounds.”
A search of websites is useful for any of the colorful terms that can be used to describe the subject of this forum topic, the useless malevolent scum that has managed to infest itself into the ‘leadership’ of the world in all institutions at all levels at the worst critical time in at least 500 years.
I used as search the term “groveling sycophant”, but any of many will do.
This comes with a clear warning from Morpheus how it will play out (no specific timeline given, not months or years).
So now doesn’t that recent action by Putin to take under his direct & absolute command an entire state surveillance & enforcement arm, not even yet created (!) look like exactly this, setting himself up as Stalin II, El Supremo strongman of Russia!
Even worse, in the words of Morpheus, “You have to understand. Most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so helplessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it.” This is so much more than a quote from some silly Hollywood movie. This is a universal psychological truth used to the significant advantage of the Empire. While the puppeteers are a relative few, they leverage the minds of millions far more effectively than if the bodies were simply cannon fodder.
Any serious degradation or collapse of the system will not weaken, but rather strengthen, the Empire, if only because it is accelerating the endgame towards the present day. Those compromised by the system will beg the corrupt system to save them from the collapsing system, a fool’s errand vigorously pursued by unprepared and panicked fools along with the ever present groveling sycophants.

I don’t expect that France and Italy will overrule Germany when it comes to Russia. Germany is closer to Russia, has much stronger economic relations with it and was a frontline state during the Cold War.
The big questions for me are whether Germany will change its position and how long Merkel will keep her job.
As for Poland and the Baltics: too much has happened too recently so one can understand their worries that the present borders may not be permanent either.

Commenting as a new negro – Bilalian revert to Al-Islam- the process is exactly as stated in this article.
We must keep in mind that it is psychology of Talmudist influence on social reality that has caused the development of house and field negro mental development as intellectual process harmful and hindering to those who’s minds are birthed in such indoctrinating conditions that manipulate for divide and rule dominance of the elite Talmudist who always operate behind the scene as Satan’s devil agent puppet master.
The western world is the creation of the Talmud mindset of rebellious Jewry because the religious mind of western world is intimately connect with and tied to Jewish history and dominate influence.
This wayward Jewish influence has fraudulently and blasphemously given western people a Jewish G-D in person of Jesus Christ, son of Mary and a true Prophet who delivered message from Divine quite different from the falsehood that has become institutionalize as truth in Christian doctrine and belief.
Religious interpretation by degenerate Rabbis indoctrinated an innocent, unaware, and mostly illiterate European community to become “white supremacist” who historically have been used as a brainwashed army for world conquest by Jews who remain as usual behind the scene as chief and main advisors and money suppliers to European religious and secular leaders.
It’s the field negro who has great potential and the best chance to liberate from the slave servant mindset imposed by Talmud Jewry. The field negro is the best hope for European liberation.
Prayerfully, European People shall awaken from the deep dark sleep of being unconscious to their tragic condition as slave servants to rebellious and ung-dly evil Talmud Jewry, such as the zionazis Jew Talmud mindset ruling in apartheid occupied Palestine, and who control U.S., European, and near all western nations through bought and paid for elected and appointed government officials.
RISE FIELD HANDS, RISE. IT’S FREEDOM TIME AT LAST FOR ALL TRIBES IN A UNITED ONE HUMAN FAMILY.

We Europeans are like the “good germans” during the 3rd Reich, we’re happy to live in blissful ignorance as long as nothing happens directly in our frontyard.
Lech, my dear.
YOu forgot that russia had a glasnot, a perestroika treason periods and had a Yeltsin “Yes, boss, we agree” period all before those eastern europeans mood taking place. You forgot that it takes time to recover.
and in recovery time it takes a conciliation man (Putin) to to the job…
neither the yes-man nor the tough opponent would suceed.
I mean the mood of one who accepts a nice glorious cannon fodder role. And yoU POLACS are accepting it in full and yelling like mad.
Note pls that having all historical hatreds against russians is one thing. Turning blind to the proven unreliability of washington is quite another. The empire will not, will not give a damn for your flat destruction by half a dozen russkie missiles and your nuclear vaporization thereof.
Didnt germany reconcile with all its neighbors after the war, simply being present and doing business? You ‘ve lost your brains.
I have not lost hope in two European nations: France and Italy. I might be mistaken, but it seems to me that the French and the Italians are, in Europe, those who are least influenced by the imperial propaganda machine,

I think it will be Spain. I may be wrong but i just feel it.
Cheers, saker.
Housenegro is painfully accurate description of Finns. Most Finns are not only servile, but proud of it. I say that as a Finn.
It looks like Polands ruling political elite really are going the full facist and that they are effectively ruled by HATO:
