It was a double edged sword for ill equipped Mrs Truss to meet for talks with ultra seasoned Lavrov. The press conference turned into a disaster for Mrs Truss and Britain’s image. I liked the question to Mrs Truss about the UK taking part in the Chechnya “separatist” war but not talking to Donbas autonomistas. She looked like she was shitting ice picks. But for the Empire’s establishment it served the purpose to delay and demur while they pump Ukraine with useless and updated weapons. More concerning, are the NATO troop deployments to Poland, Baltics and Romania which although small serve the purpose of distraction. These were followed by the deployment of Kinzhal Mig aircraft platforms to Kaliningrad. Ukraine was promised Crimea or Donbas, or both, but Putin promised Macron that “no one will win.” That is very clearly stated.
Re deployments to Kaliningrad. I haven’t read about this anywhere, would this be made public? In the early 90s there were hundreds of thousands of troops based there. Is this now seen as a region for a possible military-technical response. Slowly building up numbers and capabilities again at the heart of Europe (Revanchists in the EU still look upon Kaliningrad as a future new EU capital!) Clearly this will be interpreted as a “threat” but the same reply could be used, this is a part of Russia, what do you mean “withdraw”, and it should also refresh minds about the meaning and significance of NATOs eastward expansion in Europe and elementary Russian geography. Just imagine the torments Liz Truss will go through having to talk about Kaliningrad when she has no idea where Rostov and Voronezh actually are.

The term used was “coercive diplomacy”. The BBC offered this as a “term we are increasingly hearing” to describe Russian actions. He then accepts this as fact and then slides to an accusation.
Lavrov and Russian spox need to learn these subtle word manipulations. It’s more than a language difference.
Lavrov needed to speak so that he can be understood.
Something like:
There are no Russian troops on the Ukraine border. Pause.
There are no Russian troops on Ukraine’s border.
Wait for objection.
The Russian troops are in Russia.
Now let us talk about the UK troops in Ukraine.
Deliver the facts of numbers and locations. Even announce the secret and I acknowledged special forces. Reveal a bit of intel.
Talk about UK troops in Poland, in Lithuania in Romania and where else they are infesting.
Next. Talk about the UK surveillance flights over Crimea every day.
Why are UK planes 20km off the Crimea coast snooping at our naval base.

The diplomatic process is a total charade. Paul Craig Roberts is correct in his assessment that the Neocons interpret the continual Russian overtures as weakness. These people (Neocons) laugh at Russian attempts to make appeals using logic/facts. Logic and facts mean nothing to them. All this back and forth dialog is meaningless. Propaganda rules all, and the anti-Russian ideology is systemic within the West. it isn’t going to change and there is zero inertia among the population to pressure anyone in authority. As this drags on, I’m not sure which side benefits by the delay of a resolution. Perhaps the longer resolution comes, the more time the rest of us have to try to prepare. Its hard to be optimistic about the long-term prognosis for the world at large.

I see absolutely no reason for Russia to continue the diplomatic charade. There is nothing that Moscow can gain by more talks. Take a break! Stop the BS, already! You have done your due diligence. You have done your best! Jaw-jaw may be better than war-war, but trying to reason with imbeciles (who think Voronezh is in Ukraine) ad mauseam solves nothing. It only saps your strength and lowers your self-respect. You have shown us first-class diplomacy; now is the time to take a short break before you show us what is in your gut!
Look at the situation another way: The charade has helped Russia enormously, as the intellectual incompetence of British diplomacy has been exposed to the world. The talks can continue and the British will simply keep digging a bigger hole to fall into…(they are so kind as to be bringing the targets right to Russias doorstep, into a cauldron of their own making, saving Russia a lot of extra bother).
