We watched the election process from morning to late evening when it was very reluctantly called by the MSM for Mr. Trump. And the fetuccini hit the fan. I’ve never in my 70 years of life seen the likes of this election campaign, nor the reaction of a bunch of spoiled, entitled and clueless supporters of the losing side who have yet to accept the fact that Donald J. Trump will be the next President of The United States of America.
The fight continues with recounts demanded in so far four states. Get real. This recount demand reminds me of the famous Hanging Chad gig in Florida (my HOR) some years ago when what looked like a fugitive from Prairie Home Companion was squatting there live on TV and examining a punch card ballot with one ‘chad’ hanging down and saying he could not see a ‘punch mark’ on the chad but could see a shadow of a punch mark on another ‘chad’ that was for the other candidate, therefore he felt obliged to award that vote to the loser, aka Al Gore. It took the Supreme Court of the United States stepping in to the mess to finally sort it out and Mr. Bush was declared the winner.
It’s the same deal today, a loser who could not believe she lost to ‘a loser’ who was supported by a bunch of ‘deplorables’, ‘racists’ and ‘white supremacists’ with a lot of help from of all places Russia. Colleges and universities shut down, cancelled exams, set up ‘counseling’ rooms with paid therapists to assist the poor students, schools set up ‘grief’ counselor sessions for their students, young and not so young rioted in the streets, MSM went absolutely and publicly bat crap over the election result.
This forum is awash with posters predicting what the president elect will and won’t do, what they in general don’t like about his current cabinet selections, what the president elect’s choices are and the choices he will make, the vast majority of them dire. Here’s a clue. Get a life. Wake up. You lost an election. It’s not the end of the world in spite of what’s floating around on ‘social media’. Did you see Republicans rioting in the streets when they lost the last two elections? No. Did you see Republicans getting ‘counseling’ and days off from school and Institute when they lost the last two elections? No. Does that not say something about the differences between Republicans and Democrats? Again, no, but it does say reams about an insignificant but very vocal and ‘darling of the media’ cadre in our beloved country. More’s the pity for that, or should I say more’s the pity for our feckless media?
This United States of America, flawed as she may be from time to time, is OUR United States of America. I don’t live there anymore but it is still my country. I far from support what she has done over the last few years as many of you know but that may now change if one listens to the president elect. If he turns out to be not on the up and up, which I personally doubt, then you will hear from me more regardless of if you want to or not. For the time being shaddap, sit back and relax. Have a beer or glass of wine, have a beer/wine and whine session with your friends or significant other. Stop frightening the children and pets, get to work and fix our America, for repair she surely needs.

A protest in the usa that actually produced a positive result. We dont see that happen often in pindoland any more. Some very welcome news.

Victory for Standing Rock Sioux: Dakota Access Pipeline to be Rerouted

“The Standing Rock Sioux and a growing coalition of other tribes, environmental activists and supporters have been protesting the construction of the nearly 1,200 mile pipeline for months, and suffering increasingly violent clashes with law enforcement and security personnel over the issue. The Standing Rock Sioux have objected to the proposed pipeline route for years, saying it threatened their water and sacred cultural sites and violated treaties.”
I wonder if the arrival of vets to help the protesters had influence on the regime?
Western governments are particularly concerned about the large numbers of disaffected vets they have created with their endless resource wars recently. This chap, who formed VFPUK, has had an MOD gag order on him for about 10 years, which I suppose is why he is all over YouTube.

I’m guessing the vets had a lot to do with it. It seems nothing is black and white. There is black, shades of grey and lighter shades of grey.
The equation of the 2000 election with this one doesn’t work very well, IMO. That is, one can of course compare anything with or to anything else. But in this case I don’t see the comparison as providing enlightenment but just an opportunity to dump on putative members of the Dem Party, then and now
Auslander appears to ridicule the Florida recount and those who carried it out.
He also seems to approve of the the fact that in 2000 the Supreme Court stepped in like a deus ex machina, closed down the recount, and chose the next president.
He also seems to assume that most posters on this site are Democrats in mourning.
All of this surprises me, especially the last. I have seen little evidence of veil ripping and wailing at this forum a la the Clintonites etc.; rather, a lot of speculation and analysis and attempts to get ahead of the curve as to what lies ahead with Trump, for the short, medium, and long term. Who could fail to be fascinated by the twists and turns things are taking, form opinions, and share them?
That strikes me as completely normal behavior, especially for visitors and contributors to this blog.
Actually, the point of this post eludes me.

“Actually, the point of this post eludes me.”
Yeah, me too. I went into more detail when this diatribe was posted before, I wont bother now since the last posting of this was deleted in total without explanation.
My dear lady,
Were you in Florida for that farce of a ‘recount’? I was, that state is my HOR and at the time I happened to be on location. I witnessed first hand, eyes on, some of the foolishness of the ‘hanging chad’ dance and that witnessing, my lady, is why I ridicule that clown show.
While the actual mechanics of that ludicrous act were different we are at this time going through the same thing with another ‘anointed one’ who thought, along with her minions, that her election was a sure thing. Of course the shill begging this recount is different but the basic tactics are the same. Mrs. Stein really has no dog in this hunt if she is genuine but the very fact that it is she demanding a recount and ‘paying’ for it shows who’s dog she really is, to wit, Mrs. Clinton’s scullery maid.
In my opinion the Florida suit to the Supreme Court was handled with extreme alacrity for the simple reason that SCOTUS were well aware that the clans were gathering and if Mr. Gore managed to steal the election the clans were ready. Same thing today, my lady. Mr. Trump has won, pure and simple. It matters not what you or I think of that victory for Mr. Trump, that victory is a fact. I would strongly advise that one should not try to steal this election, either.
I wrote what I did, and granted it is not my best by any stretch of the imagination, because I was sitting and reading the posts in other threads and I picked up the large number of ‘well Trump is OK and we hope for the best but…’ and many of these backhanded denigrations are quite skilled. I’m old school and I see right through them. I don’t expect everyone to like him or hate him, to me it makes no difference, but the point is give him some time. For heaven’s sakes he’s not even inaugurated yet and we have the continuous and dire predictions of what he and his ministers will do.
The point of this post was to mention this little foible in the postings and get people to think and reply. As for conjecting about what Mr. Trump will or won’t do on a particular day and who and what his choices for his cabinet and advisors are or will be none of us know. There is too many quietly dire predictions of looming ‘more of the same’ for me to remain silent. As for the Marine General, and for those who have never served once a Marine always a Marine, to death and probably beyond. I’ll give my thoughts on him on another thread shortly.

Re: ” we are at this time going through the same thing with another ‘anointed one’ who thought, along with her minions, that her election was a sure thing.”
The 2000 election was a very different situation from this one. The Gore-Bush election was always going to be a very close thing. Neither candidate assumed his victory was a sure thing. That was why the huge uproar about Nader. So, I still don;t get the point here, except that after both elections we are experiencing a recount. I guess you are saying taht in both cases the recounts are a farce.
I would submit that the 2000 recount really WAS about numbers of votes. Actually, some months later, you will recall, it was acknowledged that when they finally completed the recount, Gore actually had won the popular vote in Florida.
There is plenty to investigate with any US elections, but this recount does not seem to be directed at these genuine issues.
“The point of this post was to mention this little foible in the postings and get people to think”.
I think a lot of people are already thinking.
I don’t agree with your interpretation of posts on other threads. For example,
” ‘well Trump is OK and we hope for the best but…’ and many of these backhanded denigrations are quite skilled . . .I see right through them. ” Your word choice implies that you think people expressing this point of view are trolls of some kind, and dumb to boot. I also don’t understand your use of the phrase “back-handed denigrations.” To me these posters’ sentiments sound reasonable. In other words, some of the people who are thinking and posting here are looking into their crystal balls and coming up with various possible scenarios; others are concluding: Let’s wait and see what Trump actually does. I guess these are the “Give him a chance to actually do something” crowd. Which is kinda what you also advise in your piece. Again, not sure why you felt it necessary to exhort people to do what they were already doing.
As for “then you will hear from me more regardless of if you want to or not.”
Hmmm
Yo mama (aka Katherine)
The comparison to 2000 is telling for several reasons but one should not somehow conclude that either 2000 or 2016 was a Democrat versus Republican issue. I agree that Hillary was the “anointed one” in 2016. However, Bush served that role in 2000, not Gore. The overlords use either political party as circumstances suit.
The Florida vote was decided on 537 votes (0.01%), a ridiculously small margin. A recount is a necessary part of the election process. Election tallies can be wrong. The recount option allows both candidates in an election to signal their acceptance of the result. But it’s a serious step that should not be used frivolously. It was certainly called for in 2000. It’s NOT called for in 2016 in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. During the 2000 election you may recall the near unanimity in the media that Gore should step down. There was also an odd sense of urgency that the election must be decided very quickly. Opinion polls showed that it was more important to ensure an accurate result.
So better stated, Trump won the election in 2016 and someone (Soros, Clinton, who knows?) is trying to steal it. Gore (most likely) won the election in 2000 and it was stolen for Bush.
They said 3 to 5 inches of snow today. Maybe it was a typo and they meant 3 plus 5 — but that was short too, since about 10″ fell here.
Still, it’s easier predicting the weather than what Trump will do in many areas, and it comes down to things like ‘80% chance he will destroy the rest of the economy’ — Clinton would have done that too. Both the main parties are economy clowns.
90% chance he will destroy what is left of civil liberties — but Clinton would have done that too.
Build a wall — Clinton already supported that years ago.
Destroy social services and the poor workers, and decent medical care — again both are likely to bring disaster.
The one difference is that Trump may get into more wars, and maybe world war — nuclear war- but Clinton was almost guaranteed to do that.
The so-called conservatives (Republicans) fell down off the cliff long ago, and now the so-called liberals (New Democrat neoliberals) have fallen even deeper into the abyss. And now the Greens hurtling down as well, while the American ‘Libertarians’ were always clinging half way down the cliff walls.
The military has a term for it, which this time really does apply: FUBAR. Even most political experts have trouble recognizing how fracked up it is. You see, the US and empire themselves is going over the edge, while the media and the culture are taking notes on the way down.
At the moment the right wing, reactionaries, and ‘conservatives’ are doing a little dance around what they think are the losing clowns without realizing that they too are clowns and are also in the process of losing. Fated to failure becuase they don’t have a clue either and their ideology is absurd.
There are two problems with the ‘make America great again’ thing. First, it never was that great, and the successes was the result of luck and having vast resources (which it could steal from other people) — and now those are running out fast. Second, where the US was is what got it to where it is now, but trying to go back there will bring about the same ruination even faster because the luck and resources it had are not there any more. The whole world is up in resistance, people, climate and resource depletion — and the corruption and disconnect from the people (a source of occasional wisdom, although even that now damaged) are far greater problems now. Can’t do slave trade now, no great new discoveries of oil and minerals, farming is failing and going GMO and industrial food-like products replace nutrition, and no untapped defenseless countries to conquer and exploit. The growth curve required by capitalism is flattening out and is replaced by bubbles and nonsense.
None of those in the body politic is capable of understanding and properly handling these problems. It’s all going down. Weather is hard to predict, but winter is coming in, and that there will be cold, snow, and ice is a very good bet.
Cheers, Blue. Well said.
Hope this doesn’t fall under the one liner gag rule, since I think this comment rates higher than the original article it was posted under.
Anon was I.
@blue,
I try to avoid commenting on US politics and the personalities involved as I’m an outsider to all that, but I take a keen interest as it will affect the rest of us in the world also. This is an excellent summary, I do appreciate a measured and realistic view

He’s getting advice from Ledeen, Woolsey, Yates, Bolton, Gaffney, Phares, McFarland; I smell Neocon sh…t all over this guy.
Maybe.
Yet in defense of Trump, he may tell them what to do and make it stick, and Trump did say that there were limited choices for staff — and he has to pick someone who are familiar with the system. That might work out, and might be the one who sets policy. Or maybe not and he will be bullied or bamboozled into insane policies. We don’t know yet. Yet again, his decisions and policies could also be ignorant and based in unfounded beliefs he’s picked up over time from the popular myths — but then he may learn they are myths and grow into truly understanding, especially with sources from many world leaders, including Russia. We don’t know yet.
I could probably go on for paragraphs of speculation, layer upon layer, but we don’t know yet.
I think Trump will likely be very nice to Putin, bashing china, at least at start.
Let’s look at it this way, Trump was gushing over Pakistan, flattering Philippines president, praise Putin, talking to taiwan, than start bashing china in earnest. Basically, Trump has made all 3 countries think Trump is thinking them highly, and special, because they are all important, close, or getting close to china. Now he is seating the stage to enticing them back into US orbit. Taiwan is only a tool. It is my theory at least. We will see if they all fell for his tricks, if so for how long.
the US constitution is perhaps unique in the “western world” in the second amendment allowing the citizens to bear ams to protect against tyranny. To date, the US citizens have used the second amendment for recreational purposes to shoot each other, and guess will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.
I guess the second amendment has nothing to do with the US excreting tyranny over other countries.
If the US is relegated to a regional power or even a super power amongst others, this would be a good thing.
If another power where to send drones over the US landmass for the next decade or so to destroy suspected locations of suspected militants, this would be even better.
