Somewhat belated, but in many ways comprehensive information on the development, goals, timing and course of the failed anti-terrorist operations. The customers, beneficiaries, the geopolitical results and little-known aspects of the incident.
The timing of sabotage
1. At the time of a personal visit of Erdogan to Russia.
2. On the eve of the Crimean parliamentary elections.
3. During the Olympic games.
The goal of aggression
The target of this sabotage was the critical infrastructure the Crimean Peninsula. The ferries, the Titan, shipyards, the town of Krasnoperekopsk, aniline paints plant, gas distribution stations, strategic highways, a water supply system, stations of water purification, bridges.
Groundwork for the sabotage operations
1. The saboteurs repeatedly visited the Peninsula in advance under the guise of tourists, conducted information gathering, surveys, approaches, and studied the mode of operation of the objects under the guise of fake IDs in related fields.
2. Later, the group of saboteurs was divided into two parts. The first continued to remain in Crimea under the guise of tourists, and kept in touch with an organized network of local contacts. Second, the officers of the military human intelligence of the GUR Ukraine Ministry of Defense, a.k.a. the Main directorate of intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine or HUR MOU, left Crimea after conducting intelligence gathering.
3. The operation was scheduled to start on the night of 6 to 7 August.
The timetable of events
According to the FSB of Russia, on the night of August 6th, a group of seven armed men dressed in camouflage uniforms of the old Soviet model was transferred by the inflatable boats across the Gulf of Perekop and landed near Armyansk.
A few kilometers from the coast, this saboteurs group was discovered by a group of special counter-terrorist forces of the FSB “Vympel.” Three servicemen of this group were conducting the guarding of this very complicated part of the border between Russia and Ukraine. After asking for support of the border control troops, the FSB servicemen become engaged into the armed conflict with the group of saboteurs. During the collision, one counter-terrorism officer was deadly wounded. Before he died he killed two of his adversaries. The remaining five were corned and taken into custody alive.
Most of the detained turned out to be the residents of Crimea, some of them had Russian passports. In their testimonies, the detained saboteurs stated that they were recruited and trained by the GUR of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. Plus, they disclosed information about several other groups dispatched by the Ukrainian intelligence on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula with the objective to commit the acts of sabotage and other unlawful misconduct. This particular group was involved in the organization of a series of explosions at the various places around the resort. The testimony of detainees indicated that the explosives for them were supposed to be delivered by the second group which was planned to illegally enter the territory of Crimea through a different route. Once in Russia, this group was supposed to stock explosives and other weapons in a specially prepared vault.
The search operations the second sabotage group were conducted during the day of August 7th. At night of September 8th, the paratroopers of the 247-th airborne assault regiment of the airborne troops (a group of enforcement) detected the second group of the saboteurs. The members of the second group made an attempt to retreat to the mainland Ukraine across the shallow water of the Bay. A battle ensued.
At the location of the armed collision there were found 20 improvised explosive devices with total capacity of more than 40 kg of TNT, ammunition and special means of initiation, regular antipersonnel and magnetic mines as well as grenades and special weapons, consisting of arms of special units of the armed forces of Ukraine. The detained leader of this group was a citizen of Ukraine, Eugene Panov, born in 1977, a career officer of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
In addition, it was discovered that Suleymanov, arrested by the Crimean law enforcement in early August for planting a fake bomb at the Simferopol airport has also been found associated with the events. In the course of him giving his testimony he revealed that the announcement about the bomb scare was supposed to distract the attention of the Crimean law enforcement and to create the favorable conditions for a successful passage onto the territory of Crimea the subversive groups from Ukraine. In addition, it was assumed that the calls with threats of explosions were to identify and reveal the ways the Crimean law enforcement agencies would react to such messages.
The aims and objectives
LOCAL:
1. To destabilize the socio-political situation in Crimea on the eve of elections to the Russia’s Parliament Duma and municipal councils.
2. To cut off the flow of tourists from both Russia and from Ukraine, that were receiving dangerous for the Kiev authorities knowledge about the real situation on the Peninsula that didn’t not correlate with the Ukrainian media propaganda about the “dying” Russian Crimea.
3. Bringing damage to the Russian economy.
GEOPOLITICAL:
1. Recently, Crimea systematically being omitted of the global agenda and is becoming increasingly unfit for international pressure on Russia. In this context, the main aims of the series of the planned terrorist attacks were:
a) to return the Crimea into a focus of international media from the position of the “Russian aggression,” in favor of this speaks the fact of absolute silence of the foreign media in the days following the incident. It’s clearly shows the arranged trap similar to one that was set up on the eve of the events of 08.08.08., when the first shots of the Russian side was immediately followed by the massive coverage of foreign propaganda.
b) to increase pressure on Russia and Europe to prevent the construction of the North Stream-2, Turkey Stream, and the South Stream (Considering that upon completion of these projects, the value of such expensive Western assets like “Ukraine” and “Syrian opposition” would turn into zero in its significance);
c) to strengthen the “fifth column” inside Russia, under the auspices and slogans about the “impotence of the Russian authorities”.
The military outcome of the operation
All the detained are suspects in the preparation of acts of sabotage on the territory of Crimea They are taken into custody, and each of them will be receive a procedural evaluation. This is “the toughest and the most reasonable in this situation, a preventive measure“. (N. Poklonskaya)
The Russian side disclosed information about the death of an officer of the special division “Vympel,” and a serviceman of the airborne division. Losses on the Ukrainian side were not disclosed.
The political outcome of these events
The United States and Ukraine
For the United States and for a part of the Ukrainian “elite” the ideal outcome of this saboteur operation would be a direct military response of Russia. The war would allow to write off of everything: theft, the killings of civilians, and profits of the oligarchs.
The Ukrainian elite would become an “elite in exile” with political guarantees by the type of Saakashvilli had received. American hawks would prove their thesis about “barbaric Russian,” with all the ensuing economic and political consequences. Contracts and a number of critical contracts with partners would be disrupted, the internal social situation undermined the objectives are achieved.
However, due to the prudent actions of the Russian leadership, all did not go as planned. So, if until now the “modern Ukraine” got used to sit on two chairs at once, holding its weight of the Russian “legs,” after committing this insane act, these legs will be purposefully and actively “broken”.
In particular, by calling Poroshenko a terrorist, Putin is already raising a bar, and with this he is increasing the internal opposition in the Ukrainian society, giving a very clear signal to the Eastern regions.
Europe
It becomes harder to hide the fact that the existence of a terrorist state between Europe and Russia is a thing far more dangerous than “wild steppe.”
Russia
The transition to terror by our “friends and partners” says a lot. In particular, it means that other ways to achieve a desired results simply don’t work. The resumption of hostilities in the Donbass apparently seems to them futile, maps with the downed Boeing and other preparations, finally exhausted itself and the entire arsenal of forces and means, was parried by the Russian diplomacy, politics and the army, unexpectedly successful.
In addition, the positive aspect of this failed saboteur operation is the fact that these events in Crimea would give to more Russian citizens understanding as to why in 2014, LDNR were not included in the Russian Federation.
For reference, clarify that at the time of the “Russian spring”, support for Russian actions on the part of the Crimean population was 94%. After joining, the only way to the Russian Peninsula from Ukraine has become the way through 20 km long isthmus and a full-fledged state border of the Russian Federation. From a military point of view, the protection of the Peninsula to Russia – in the conditions of an unfriendly neighbor, feasible with a high degree of control and the success of the action. This was confirmed by the events, but they also showed how difficult it is to ensure the safety of citizens and the integrity of borders, even in such a positive environment. In the mainland part, within the boundaries of the LDNR, where each forest can have hiding places or Bandera style caches of ammunition. Also, at the time of the “Russian spring” the support of the local population was “suspended” somewhere at the bottom mark (as evident from the migration of refugees, half of them at the beginning of Ukrainian forces attacks on the civilian towns of Donbass moved not in Russia, and to Ukraine.) In these conditions, providing the security might become extremely challenging. The basis for this complexity would be multiplied by the political realities and related military and protective restrictions.
In a similar way and for similar reasons, the Russian Empire at the time didn’t absorb Istanbul, although according to generally accepted international historians, it certainly could have from a militaristic point of view.
GENERALIZATION
A part of the citizens of our country believe that Russia should act “directly and strongly,” and any other behavior for her is erroneous and incorrect. Such an opinion is ill-advised.
In its foreign policy Russia consciously acts not in a “direct,” but more like “curved” way in accordance with its national interests, and using any means including military, special intelligence, and social, to drive the enemy into madness, while they are waiting and trying to anticipate our next steps and planned actions. And this practice shows that it’s absolutely the right modus of operation for our “Polite Country.”
Since Russia has no media that would be comparable with the Western by the size of its audience, we have to act carefully, and anticipate what’s coming from behind a curve. Modern Russia is not going to throw mindlessly its weight around, as some would like. It works carefully and accurately, and therefore produces results with minimum losses, and maximum benefits.
Russia with Putin, unlike many other incarnations of our country, understands the most important thing. Threats call for the appropriate responses. We can’t react to everything with the use of the simple fact that we can fight the wars better than anyone else on this planet. We will not respond to information war of the West – with military action. We are not going to die, fighting with puppet regimes, manipulated by the West. We don’t get engaged in pre-planned and pre-prepared for us war in Ukraine.
Instead of introducing an embargo of the Olympics, and having the wars with half of the planet, Russia professionally acting from unfavorable positions, without nervous breakdowns, took back South Ossetia and Abkhazia, in one day had returned the Crimean Peninsula, has protected and continues to provide support and patronage to DLNR, successfully supports Assad, extends the influence of the state hitherto in the region of the Middle East. Russia has demonstrated an exemplary model of modern war in Syria, it’s building ICBMs and “Kalibrs” to protect the country and its future, it’s rerouting the Internet to its own territory. Russian has already have created a competitive national satellite navigation system, went back into space, confidently parries the attempts of its isolation, introduces the round of Euro-sanctions, that make the inhabitants of the European Union themselves to pressure hard on the European authorities. It successfully without stress or strain on its forces resists the US pressure on the world stage…
As for the banana republic, described in this material, according to the known principle, she’ll get hers, and predominantly by the remote methods…
The US on the recent attempted attack on Crimea…
“We urge both sides to avoid provocative steps or rhetoric that could escalate the situation.”
Another case of the US leading from behind. They need some action in Ukraine to take the pressure off their jihadis in Syria.
And Brussels spouts the same tosh “EU Political and Security Committee urges Moscow and Kiev to avoid escalation in tensions”
http://tass.com/world/894836
Hmmm – who attacked whom? Let’s ask Russia to avoid escalation………personally – I am sick of their pompousity.
The cringe-worthy amateurish methods used by the Crimea saboteurs plus the lack of pre-prepared and canned ‘Putin did it!’ MSM echo-chambering indicate to me that this particular one likely wasn’t a CIA/NATO sanctioned professional operation.
Surely one can expect far better prepared treachery than this in the near future? Where’s the Nuland cartel these days?

I would like to humbly suggest that part of motives are to open a second front as we know ukr has steadily, progressively been building up forces and increasingly attacking Donbass, this was an attempt to test the Crimean responses, what works, anything from the locals(which might be residents to members of a local militia) noticing the incursion and alerting authorities, presumably rus has radar systems in operation there too…building on experience of recon and sabotage units in Donbass, even the other day a serious attempt was made there, seeing if training by nato forces and possibly equipment can be more effective, has improved because this to me seemed to be a higher “quality’ of action….maybe also acting as an “inspiration’ to those local medglis and ‘others’ in Kherson region being supported by Turkey and Ukraine…..although I am not sure if nato countries would actually believe that such volunteers could be most effective……..

SIMFEROPOL, January 21. /TASS/. Participants of an illegal armed unit established in Ukraine’s Kherson Region on the border with Russia’s Crimea will be put on wanted list, Crimean Prosecutor Natalya Poklonskaya said Thursday in an interview with Rossiya television channel journalists.
Support for Crimean Tatars’ extremist organizations to boomerang on Turkey
Earlier Thursday, Poklonskaya told TASS investigative bodies of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB, former KGB) Department in Crimea have initiated a criminal case over the establishment of an illegal armed formation in the Kherson Region.

SOCHI, May 19. /TASS/. Ankara’s stance on Crimean Tatars is biased and extremely politicized, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
“In connection with another series of statements related to Crimea and Crimean Tatars, it stands as absolutely obvious for us that Ankara’s stance is biased and extremely politicized,” Zakharova said. “The Turkish authorities’ prejudice is growing proportionally to anti-Russian propaganda on the whole.”

Zakharova said that since the beginning of Ukraine crisis Turkey “has preferred ignoring true reasons behind the developments” and thought it beneficial “to qualify Crimea’s reunification with Russia as illegal annexation.”
“Recently, they have gone ahead and name it ‘occupation,’” the diplomat said. “But who says these words? I would like to remind that one third of Cyprus has been under occupation for over 40 years. The UN is still carrying out the search for missing people, namely the victims of military intervention.”

SIMFEROPOL, August 17 /TASS/. Most Crimean Tatars are against returning the peninsula to Ukraine. The Federal Agency for the Affairs of Nationalities have outdated figures, which were relevant back in 2015, Crimea’s Vice-Premier Ruslan Balbek in charge of the inter-ethnic relations told TASS on Wednesday.
Igor Barinov, the head of the Federal Agency for the Affairs of Nationalities, said in a TASS interview that almost half or 46% of Crimean Tatars were against returning the peninsula to Ukraine. He added that according to his estimates, only 17% of Crimean Tatars pinned their hopes on Ukraine.
“The information that 17% of Crimean Tatars are dreaming of reuniting with Ukraine reflects the last year mood that existed prior to the power cuts (which the peninsula faced late in 2015 – TASS),” Balbek clarified.
“If you poll people in the street, the majority would not say a single good word about the Kiev government and its idea to return the peninsula to Ukraine,” the Crimean politician added.
Balbek said that the Tatars who dreamt of returning Crimea to Ukraine had lined their pockets on the problems of the Crimean Tatar population under the Ukrainian rule.
The Kiev authorities could only count on the support of radicals and crooks who used to line their pockets with money on the problems of the Crimean Tatar people under the Ukrainian rule.
“As agents of influence they are no good; if we treat them as an espionage ring, they are amateurish. Any attempt to play the Crimean-Tatar factor is doomed to failure,” Balbek stressed.

Balbek said that Crimean Tatars had expanded their business opportunities after Crimea’s reunification with Russia. “For the moment, Crimean Tatar entrepreneurs are actively developing their business. A tour of Crimea’s southern coast will easily convince you that it is true. People are making their homes comfortable; they are expanding their households and are showing no signs of moving anywhere,” Balbek added.
He also noted that the Russian authorities had translated their words into deeds. “They have shown Crimean Tatars that they are part of a vast country – with broad rights and equal opportunities – rather than a small people. It is also true of business opportunities and the language (the Crimean Tatar language is a state language in Crimea – TASS) as well as the celebration of national holidays,” the vice-premier stressed.
“Ukraine also tries to prove to the world that the life of Crimean Tatars on the peninsula has become much worse than it was under Ukraine. To prove that, Ukraine has imposed water and food blockades on the peninsula and cut off all power supplies in a 15-degree winter frost. But the Kiev politicians miscalculated,” the Crimean politician indicated.
“People were left with water and habitual Ukrainian foodstuffs for some time. A power blackout under the frosts of minus 15 degrees Centigrade was the final straw. Like all the other inhabitants on the peninsula, Crimean Tatars had to sit without water and warm their children manually for days. All that chased away the remaining loyalty but strengthened the Tatars’ conviction that Crimea is Russia,” Balbek stressed.

and recent attention by visiting european politicians reporting
MOSCOW, July 28. /TASS/. Europe’s preoccupation with the Crimean Tatars, while disregarding discrimination faced by the Russian-speaking population in the Baltic States testifies to the double standards surrounding its national minority policies, French National Assembly member and co-chairman of the Franco-Russian Dialogue Association, Thierry Mariani, said on Thursday.
“During our visit to Crimea we wanted to examine the issues regarding the Crimean Tatar minority…,” he said after meeting with speaker of Russia’s State Duma (lower house of parliament) Sergei Naryshkin. “When we see that Europeans are completely ignoring the situation with minorities in the Baltic countries while paying close attention to the rights of the Crimean Tatar minority, we can see the manifestation of double standards very clearly.”
Mariani noted that over the past two years, the Crimean Tatars have been granted significantly new cultural and language rights. “We would like to see similar rights given to the Russian-speaking population, for example, in Latvia,” he added.

“UkraiIne to establish International human rights committee
Lawyers and human rights activists want to create a platform monitoring violations of the rights and freedoms of the Crimean Tatars in the occupied peninsula.
16 August 2016 16:48”
KYIV (QHA) –
The lawyer Nikolay Polozov, together with his colleague Mark Feigin and the Chairman of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis Refat Chubarov took part in a press conference on the trials of the Crimean Tatars. Polozov pointed the three steps that the Ukrainian government should make to help political prisoners in the occupied Crimea.
“First, to work out measures providing access to Crimea for Ukrainian and foreign journalists. But now it can be a complex issue. The easiest way is to take a plane from Moscow to Simferopol. Not everyone will go through the whole of Ukraine by train to administrative border, and then take a car. But the media coverage of events in the occupied Crimea is more important than political contingencies. The government must have a political will to enable journalists to come to Crimea, even from Moscow.
Second, to work out measures providing access to the trials of the Crimean political prisoners for representatives of foreign states. They will be able to watch and record all the offenses,” said Polozov, according to a QHA correspondent.
The lawyer said that the third step is to work out measures providing access to the occupied territories for monitoring missions. Today, the Kremlin’s proteges invite foreign delegations to Crimea and show them “what a nice place it is.”
“The informational vacuum around Crimea is a favourable environment for Russia to continue its villainy. A proper political decision will help to deal with the stance,” Nikolai Polozov believes.
Refat Chubarov said that today, human rights activists, lawyers and community leaders are discussing the creation of International Human Rights Committee in the temporarily occupied Crimea.’

Russia may use the “Ukrainian saboteurs” situation in order to derail the peace process in the occupied Crimea and to win some time according to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, as cited by the Austrian publication Der Standard.
“Right now, Moscow is trying to provoke our troops and to destabilize the situation. We do not know what the Russia’s tactics is but it is very dangerous,” said the Head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
According to him, the situation in the occupied Crimea leaves much to be desired. Especially against the background of the forthcoming elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Klimkin is convinced that Russian statements about the involvement of Ukrainian military in the incident can not be true.
“Why on Earth should Kiev commit such acts? To return the Crimea? We will achieve this by political means. And the support of the International community, as well as sanction against Russia, will also help us,” said Pavel Klimkin.
The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs doubts that Moscow is willing to start negotiations concerning the status of Crimea. The issues of human rights violations or access to the occupied peninsula for International observer organizations may be negotiated in the “Geneva Plus” format.
Earlier, the FSB distributed a statement on the prevention of terrorist attacks in the Crimea, allegedly plotted by the Chief of the Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence. The Russian Security Services stated it has identified a saboteur group who killed the Russian FSB officer while being arrested outside the city of Armyansk.
Moreover, the FSB announced the “liquidation of the Ukrainian intelligence agent network”.
The fake statement also reported on the attempts by subversive and terrorist groups “to break through” to the territory of the peninsula using “massive shelling and armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”

Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services Gennady Zubko said that the Ukrainian authorities know how to return the occupied territories of Donbass and Crimea, according to Voice of Ukraine.
“If we, Ukrainians, have our own state, which, according to all the conventions considered an integral and indivisible territory including the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and Crimea, then we must have a plan for the return of these territories. We can not introduce reforms here and say that we have no idea what will happen to the occupied territories where millions of our citizens are in captivity. Therefore, we must have a plan to return these territories,” Zubko said.
Speaking of ways to return the occupied territories, he mentioned the peculiarities of the local government there.
“Minsk agreements provide such a plan: To withdraw the Russian troops, to close the borders, to establish the Ukrainian legislation. And only then the local government issue should be considered. It is crucial to establish the proper work local governments in transition,” said the official.”

“We have a fairly complex situation with a number of municipal enterprises like “Krymtrolleybus”[public transport – Ed.], “Krymmoloko”[dairy products – Ed.], “Krymhleb” [bakery – Ed.]. The wages of the medical, educational, social workers do not meet with the government-established norms,” said the activist.

oooppss, sorry if a bit long mods.
I was long sceptical towards Russia mainly because of the Bolshevik past but with Putin and the modern Russian philosophy and culture I think there is nobody else on the Planet that deserves to prevail more than Russia.
Still Russia has many enemies both foreign and domestic and stands on shifting ground because of that it’s better to play it safe and let it’s enemies expose and exhaust them selves instead of lashing out directly. The West is collapsing as we speak and all it will take in a few years to push it over the edge will be a gentle nudge.
Stay strong and prevail.

I suspect that this being said now may be an indirect indication of plans. Taken together with the naming of the Ukrainian junta as terrorists the implication seems to suggest that there may soon be a “government in waiting”, a lawful government for Ukraine. And the junta will soon discover that their names are to be found on indictments. They are, after all, outlaws.
It seems to imply that the writing is on the wall. The junta has been weighed in the balance and found wanting.

Sabotage Group in Crimea Received Ukrainian Navy Backing
http://sputniknews.com/russia/20160818/1044390013/crimea-ukraine-sabotage-navy.html
The sabotage group that plotted attacks in Crimea, dismantled by the Russian security forces, was backed up by Ukrainian Navy officers at the naval base in Ochakiv, a source in Crimean law enforcement told RIA Novosti on Thursday.
SIMFEROPOL (Sputnik) — According to the source, on August 7-9, a group of officers from the central headquarters of the Ukrainian Navy arrived in Ochakiv.
“Officers of the navy base mentioned, in private conversations, that the group had arrived to back up and evacuate the sabotage group of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Chief Directorate of Intelligence, which was blocked in Crimea,” the source added.

The European Union must stop violating the Helsinki accords by preventing Crimean people from meeting their relatives, who live in the EU countries, Georgy Muradov, Crimea’s permanent representative with the Russian president, said on Wednesday.

Russia Hopes Ukraine to Avoid Conflict Escalation Over Crimea
SIMFEROPOL (Sputnik) – The Helsinki Final Act was signed by 35 countries in August 1975, in an attempt to improve relations between the then-communist bloc, comprising the Soviet Union and the countries of the Warsaw Pact. The humanitarian part of the Helsinki accords includes states’ obligations to ensure people’s rights to free movement, exchange of information, education, cultural contacts, medical care and others.
“I want to call on the European Union to stop violating the Helsinki Final Act and not to block family ties of our Crimean communities with their fellow citizens, who are living abroad. They are not granting visas, they are impeding communication between relatives – that is a direct violation of the Helsinki Final Act. That refers to Germany, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy and many other EU states,” Muradov said at a press conference in the Crimean office of the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency.
Crimea became part of Russia after almost 97 percent of those who voted in a local referendum on the issue in 2014 supported the move. Ukraine did not recognize the outcomes of the referendum in Crimea and accused Russia of annexation.”

Yes. The author is absolutely correct in referring to the current Ukraine as a “banana republic”. It is astonishing that the Uk. people do not see this and DO something about it!

I remember old video of Russian military trainees getting kicked hard in the barracks. It makes more sense now. Developing patience not to strike back immediately increases survival probability and opportunity to kill later, or best, watch him kill himself. Loss of control drives enemy toward enemy increasingly crazy actions.
“Vladimir Putin has built up troops on its border with the Ukraine – sparking fears he could be planning a new invasion.
The Russian leader has stationed as many as 40,000 troops, including tanks, armoured vehicles, and air force units along the country’s eastern border.
Large numbers of Russian troops are also due to conduct exercises in the coming days that Pentagon officials have warned could be used as cover for an attack on Ukraine.

Navy captain Danny Hernandez, a spokesman for the US European Command, said the upcoming Russian exercises were being closely monitored.
He told the Washington Free Beacon: ‘We are extremely concerned about the increased tensions near the administrative boundary between Crimea and the rest of Ukraine. ‘We urge both sides to avoid provocative steps or rhetoric that could escalate the situation.’
Last week the Ukraine claimed a Russian invasion was possible at ‘any minute’.
Andriy Lysenko, a military spokesman for Ukraine’s presidential administration, said: ‘The occupiers are conducting manoeuvres and we should understand that at any minute, at any hour, they could start a large-scale or small-scale attack.’

DONETSK, August 18. /TASS/. The delegation of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) will raise the issue of the use of rocket artillery by the Ukrainian army at the upcoming Contact Group meeting in Minsk on August 26, DPR chief negotiator, Denis Pushilin, said on Thursday.
“The situation is escalating,” Donetsk News Agency quotes him as saying. “We will raise this issue in Minsk. We regularly discuss this, but, unfortunately, the situation is only getting worse.”
Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian army opened fire from the Grad multiple rocket launchers to shell Telmanovsky district in the south of the DPR. Besides, the DPR command has reported on numerous occasions that Kiev amassed troops near the contact line in the Donbass region.

A source in the operational command of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) said nineteen houses had been damaged by artillery fire from Ukrainian army positions in the vicinity of Yasinovataya, Dokuchaevsk, Gorlovka and in west Donetsk.
“According to verified data, the artillery fire that rained down on the outskirts of Dokuchaevsk, in Gorlovka’s Nikitovsky district and Donetsk’s Petrovsky district damaged 19 houses and a cafe,” the source explained. No casualties were reported.
Earlier reports said that the Ukrainian army hammered the Donetsk republic with a barrage of 133 artillery shells late on Wednesday and into the small hours of Thursday knocking out 80 transforming stations and damaging a mine. Kiev-controlled forces also shelled the area where the Russian office of the Joint Center for Ceasefire Control and Coordination (JCCC) is located. “At around 0:30 a.m. the Russian JCCC observers working in the DPR again came under artillery fire from the Ukrainian armed forces. A direct shell strike ignited a warehouse near the observation post,” Donetsk News Agency quotes the DPR command as saying. The observers were evacuated to a safe place, and no injuries were reported.
“Each incident where Ukrainian armed forces used weapons prohibited under the Minsk agreements will be thoroughly investigated by the Russian division of the JCCC. Representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission will be briefed on the results,” the source stressed.
This is the third time an area close to JCCC’s quarters was shelled over the past four days. In the previous two cases, projectiles came from 122mm artillery guns. That said, the DPR command decided to distribute 20 sets of personal protective gear – helmets and bullet-proof vests – to observation posts located close to the contact line.

video documentary of OSCE covering up ukr ato actions ,The war in Donbass continues, but the fact is, that the OSCE monitoring mission and the daily OSCE reports keeping silent about the events, especially in Zaitsevo, which the local defenders say, is attacked daily and heavily by the Ukrainian army, Right Sector troops, Tatars and even western backed mercenaries.
The DONi News team was following closely the work of the OSCE and especially the Head of the Monitoring mission, Alexander Hug in Zaitsevo. We had been documenting life in Zaitsevo and the DONi News Team had also been targeted by the Ukrainian forces while visiting this village, it’s vicinities and the defensive positions of the Donetsk Army.
This exclusive documentary will reveal our findings concerning the Donetsk battlefield in the middle of the civilian populated area, giving us some needed answers about the OSCE actions and also raising up new, serious questions about the hidden war in Donbass. ”

During the briefing on August 17, Deputy Chief of HM the DNI control, Colonel Eduard Eduard Basurin said that after the explosion of a warehouse of rocket and artillery weapons in the controlled APU village Zaytsevo Ukrainian law enforcers have to use ammunition with expired date, of which over 10% are not broken or are broken gun barrels.
“It is known that in the past two weeks in the artillery units of the APU for this reason, were disabled and 15 guns. Against this background, and due to the increased number of non-combat losses, a decline of moral and psychological state of the APU troops, causing concern to the Ukrainian military command. In this regard, during the period from August 15 to 16 units 58 separate motorized infantry brigade in the area of the work carried out Ocheretino group of military psychologists headed by the deputy commander of the “TAU” in educational work. With military brigade group exercises and tests were carried out. It was revealed that the morale of the personnel, who is at the forefront, is extremely low. To raise the morale of the military command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continues to not only disseminate misinformation about the plans to a full-scale offensive on the APU units DNI position, but also to demonstrate the NATO countries provide military assistance to Ukraine. An example is the wreckage of UAV downed Air Defense DNI in Gorlovka area. They artisanal way pasted characteristic sign of NATO “, – said Eduard Eduard Basurin.”
note “careful ‘ timing of this statement
Coup leader of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko said on Thursday he might declare martial law and new mobilization in the country, if the situation in the Donbass region and around Crimea deteriorated. “If the situation in Donbass and Crimea deteriorates, escalates, I’ll be forced to declare martial law and mobilization,” the Ukrainian leader said during his trip to the Lvov region.
presumably because the June exercises with ukr and nato countries were practising something and now know they have sufficient strategies in place for their ‘objectives’….?

Anyone got a spare Swedish submarine to practise on ?
“The situation is escalating,” Donetsk News Agency quotes him as saying. “We will raise this issue in Minsk. We regularly discuss this, but, unfortunately, the situation is only getting worse.”
The way to “raise” the issue is to tell them that since they can’t manage to stop the artillery strikes by the junta. Then the NAF will need to do that for them. So the artillery moved back from the front before will now be back. And will eliminate any junta military artillery that fires on them. Without warning and completely eliminate them under the law of self-defense.
I hope they’re wake enough to think to search for the swedish min-subs, too!:

I hope all those who ever demand out of frustration that Russia “act” will read the last 6 paragraphs of this excellent report. Russia is fighting, as the Saker team has always stated, continuously and extremely well.
Those who don’t see this, need to acquire some patience of their own to match Russia’s. Then they will learn that patience doesn’t mean doing nothing. Patience is a very active condition.
Remember, the pressure to “act” is on the US before its EU “partner” descends into internal chaos. They are only getting worse with larger deficits, tax revenues dropping and larger share going to completely useless projects aka. the uncontrolled mass migration phenomenon and welfare benefits for Africans. Won’t leave a whole lot of room for HATO budget increases, in Europe. Just keep building up that Eurasian alliance.
“Patience is a very active condition.”
Love it!
An average monthly salary in Ukraine depends on where one lives and what one does for a living. An average monthly salary of a vendor of a bakery stand would be around 1400 UAH ($177). This is more than a minimum monthly salary. An office manager of a middle size company earns around the same amount of money. A nurse working in a hospital works for a minimum monthly salary of around 700 UAH ($89). Doctors get paid around 1000 UAH ($127) per month. Salaries may vary depending on the job experience. Almost everyone is trying to do some under table business just to cover their basic needs.
A Department of Environmental Protection and Expertise is a governmental organization. A friend of mine who works there earns close to 1200 UAH ($152) per month.
Salaries mentioned above are true for middle size cities such as Poltava. People working in large cities like Kiev get paid more. Needless to say, their cost of living might be way much higher. This is particularly true for Ukrainians who rent their accommodation.

Dsouthfront reporting tonight that Turkey is wanting the Black Sea not be a place of conflict….ans sf also saying
“Turkeys” nukes are being taken to Romania…..wondrin if going by road or sea…..plus Turkey seems to be making an offer to Rus saying they could ditch nato if Rus should express an interest in military investment in Turkey????
I think they will move em through the air, few at a time. Road would involve a large escort for security. During transport they are more vulnerable thus quick methods are preferred.
As for the two heroes,RIP.
“It becomes harder to hide the fact that the existence of a terrorist state between Europe and Russia is a thing far more dangerous than ‘wild steppe’. “
As if the Ukronazi pigsty wasn’t Europe’s excretion. And as if the EU wasn’t a much bigger perpetrator of terrorism than her ardent little Ukro devotees. The Banderites take all their instructions right from the Enlightened and Exceptional folks. Consequently, Russia should unceremoniously just nuke the Euro-trash since that would instantly deprive the Ukros of their “moral guidance” instantly. Problem solved.
I don’t think they are having a “hard time” at hiding it. Those that “want” to know about it can easily find out about it (coming her and many other sources). The vast majority that get their news (if they even bother to read the news) from the MSN. Find its pretty easy to be fooled. They either don’t care, since the MSM is silent on the situation. Or they use the “same old,Russia did it” .But either way,it remains hidden to most people in the West.
Yes.
Russia should also not EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE such concepts as international law or human rights, and instead say it has to be “Russia first” and not “Globalism first”, like Donald Trump is willing to say (and act).
The nukes will work. Another strategy would also work — arm all the extremist groups in the EU nationstates and order them to murder EU politicians and destroy their houses — and massmurder the refugees. Whichever of this strategies is more appealing to Russia is good, but they should DO IT already.
Always remember these words by Bashar al-Assad
Interviewer: (in English) …. Do you believe one day you will face an International Court?
Bashar al-Assad: (in English) First of all you have to do your job as President, when you are attacked by terrorists, I mean as country, you have to defend your country, and that’s my job according to the Constitution, so I’m doing my job, and I’m going to keep doing it no matter what i’m going to FACE, let’s be clear about this, defend of the country cannot be balanced with the personal future of President, whether he’s going to face criminal court, or anything like that, OR TO FACE DEATH, doesn’t matter, if you, if you don’t want to face all the things — leave that position, and give it to someone else!
Also, I apologize to the mods for using caps lock. He was, in fact, suddenly shouting in the parts of the quote where I used it… So I ask not to edit my previous comment.
And, I will not make the same mistake again. Keep doing good job.
“The last time we witnessed a similar intensity of fire using heavy armaments was a year ago,” he said of the confrontation along the 30-kilometer-wide (19-mile-wide) buffer zone splitting government forces from the pro-Russians.
Violence subsided in eastern Ukraine after a ceasefire agreement was reached in February 2015 between Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. However, sporadic clashes continued on the frontline, with the two sides accusing each other of violating the truce.

notice dear readers, fortruss no longer has sputnik on its tabs-getting tough in the information wars…………….
The reason why Russia never took Constantinople was because the UK wouldn’t allow it. Russia had opportunities to march on Constantinople but never did for fear of getting their arse kicked like in the Crimean war. France also wasn’t favourable to the idea of Russia having free access to the Mediterranean. In fact there was much hostility to this idea and little support. As long as you’re not a backwards Turk, surrounded Pole, or a massively out resourced Swede then Russia isn’t much to be feared. Just don’t try to conquer it during winter ;)
That’s one interpretation — Russia did not attempt to violate territorial integrity of Turkey because it has a weak military. There is an alternative one — most European states of the time (I include Russia in this list) were under threat of anarchist, socialist, Marxist civil unrest type events/situations. And every economic and legal reform, as well as any military campaign, was measured against a risk of some possible revolution.
I choose to think that canzler Bismarck was correct that the allies of potential – in close future – revolutions are writers and artists, and enemies of a potential future revolutions were peasants and factory workers.
I don’t think that modern reality is different from the beginning of the XXth century, and a country’s main duty should be riots, revolutions, etc, not other countries (no matter how strong).
Anyway, that’s my opinion, agree, disagree, I couldn’t care less.
Have a nice day!
