By now, you must have heard it: Satellite images show new Russian military buildup near Ukraine, at least so says Politico.
In reality, those images come from a location over 200km away from the Ukrainian border.
Not only that, but Russia has no need for her 1st Guards Tank Army to deal with any Ukronazi threat – she has enough standoff weapons to defend the LDNR without crossing the border (Putin mentioned that Russia also have not 12 or even 24, but over 2000 drones of all types deployed with different units; imagine how 12 Bayraktars look to the Russian General Staff).
Still, you got to love the West’s logic: Russian military movements inside Russia are a threat to NATO and its Ukie collaborators but US military movements all over the planet, including extremely provocative ones, including ships with nukes on board, are “peaceful” and don’t threaten anybody.
Then there is the situation Black Sea, the USN just moved two of its ships into the Black Sea, and they were tracked by Russian missile batteries from the moment they showed up. To explain how stupid that kind of deployment is, a Russian general recently suggested that Russia should deploy one or two ships in the Laurentian Great Lakes to “deter the US”. He added that this would be laughable, right?
Well, that is exactly what the USN is doing right now, so I will let you imagine how “deterred” the Black Sea Fleet and the Southern Military District are right now :-)
The top First Prize for stupidity goes…. drumroll…. to the UK which has declared that it will build a naval base for the Ukie’s non-existing navy in the Sea of Azov!!! Seriously, they want to challenge Russia in the Sea of Azov. Consider the following:
- The Sea of Azov is locked by the Crimean Bridge
- The Sea of Azov is very shallow and only specific boat types can even move around there
- Russia has total military (fire) control of both the Sea of Azov and the entire Ukie coast
But hey, let Britannia rule theses waves if she wants, I am sure that a few tiny boats will absolutely terrify the Kremlin…
One more thing: Andrei Martyanov is publishing a series of articles on anti-submarine warfare and missiles. Make sure to check it out here: https://smoothiex12.blogspot.com/
Cheers
Andrei
What I found odd in the story is that a private commercial satellite company provided the information to Politico. Why didn’t the US/EU governments have their own ‘official’ satellite information if this is true? Maybe because this is “fake news” so that a private company will get the blame ( Ooops we made a mistake on where the photos were taken ) instead of the US/EU/NATO being the liars. A private entity is providing false information to another private entity so that governments hands are clean from false propaganda?
Obviously there’s ongoing incessant chatter about Russia Russia Russia and “belligerence” and similar.
But I think this latest round of excitement snowballed from this guy’s Oct 29 tweet,
_which coincided with the use of the Bayraktar drone in the Donbas,
_ which coincided with the capture of the greyzone village of Staromaryevka and detaining of 180 residents, including 37 who held Russian passports.

(In one of his recent pieces Martyanov has some very “Smoothiex” words for Michael Kofman and his “Russian expertise”.)
Next in the timeline, a lot of Kofman’s twit followers retweet, …and then there is a flood of cell phone vision from cars, homes and bystanders of Russian equipment being moved.
A lot gets retweeted.
At the same time tweet aggregator @RALee85 retweet’s Kofman and some of the dodgy cell vision.
This prompted Konrad Muzyka (who has contributed to some of the tweet storm) to write an analysis:
Russian land forces’ movements in October
https://rochan-consulting.com/russian-land-forces-movements-in-october/
31/10/21
Which is picked up by Washington Post and then all over the internet it’s:
…”aaaaagh, what are the Russians up to? Why are they moving equipment? Invasion of Ukraine imminent, waaaagh.
Peskov responds to inquiries.
So then it’s confirmed the Russians are lying….because
a/ Russians always lie
b/ a Russian denial confirms the allegation in clown world.
>You are here.
The ‘ongoing incessant chatter about Russia Russia Russia and “belligerence” and similar’ is nothing new and unexpected. It is ongoing since at least the ‘Testament of Peter the Great’. It lead to three centuries of devastating wars and revolutions to ‘counter’ the ‘belligerence’ of Russia, but which succeeded only to make Russia more powerful than before and the warmongers weaker.
But we know that “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” We know also that ‘Quos Deus vult perdere, prius dementat’ (Whom the gods would destroy they first make mad).
According to Benito Mussolini: A merger of Governmental, Corporate and Media Power = Fascism.
In this case a Western Corporation handles a photo to a Western Media, who broadcasts the photo with a lie to manipulate the Western population – on behalf of Western Governments.
Martyanov’s articles are well done and informative. The West is getting crazier every day, The Brits send a ship within 12 miles of Crimea, but say the Russians moving around in their own country is threatening .
A very close parallel would be for a Russian warship to sail within 12 miles of Portsmouth. Maybe it could patrol up and down off Shanklin and Ventnor.
I would love to see the Daily Mail’s headlines.
You already did. Remember not so long ago the headlines about two Royal Navy vessels “shadowing” a Russian warship “flotilla” as it made its perfectly legal passage in international waters through the Channel?
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/video/2016/oct/21/russian-warships-pass-through-english-channel-video
Yes. My point was that the Russian ships you mention simply sailed down the Channel. The intrusion I suggested would be far more provocative, as 12 miles from Portsmouth doesn’t even clear the south end of the Isle of Wight.
Similarly it is one thing for NATO ships to prance about the Black Sea – quite another to approach within visual range of Sevastopol.
I agree with you! As frequently contributor of comments on Andrei Martyanov blog i agree with You!
Why do Russians justify themselves at all? To whom? Which serious army does that? Also, why are data on weapons constantly published from the highest parts of the government? To scare them or make them safe? Here is an example ……. During a meeting with defense chiefs in the south-coast city of Sochi, Putin disclosed that the country has at least 2,000 drones for use in reconnaissance missions and, increasingly, to play combat roles.
Why do you assume they are telling the truth?
I don’t get it?Y ou don’t think NATO doesn’t have its own spies on the ground, do you? I dont understand why they would talk publicly how many weapons they have. And what kind. What kind of military doctrine is that? NATO surrounded them from all sides, it is not a time of long-term peace. Why do they even show some prototypes in parades or in newspapers? Is that become a matter of MIC sales / shareholders or state protection? Why do they sell their best weapons to NATO, for example, Turkey? Which sells drones to Ukraine?
Russians do not ‘justify’ themselves. They warn them.
Rather stupid to warn! Like a person who knows martial arts shows off to a competitor who then pulls out a gun and shoot him! Why war and all the chest beating. Russia got itself into this predicament through appeasement; she should have from the onset of NATO encroachment warned them and if not heeded then used force. Worked with JFK, would work now also.
Everyone in NATO is so desperate to ignite a conflict with Russia, and they’re using the delusional ukronazis as cannon fodder. A ukronazi official has threatened Russia with ‘military action’ if Nordstream 2 becomes operational.

That is one of those ‘Unwritten” rules that everyone knows but no one talks about.
Yep Sparkey.
Mostly the threats and coercion are implied. But not always.
Here’s US political analyst John Mearsheimer in 2020 making a veryovert threat to Australia “advising” that it needs to curtail its trade and business with China.
Extract from Caitlyn Johnstone’s blog, but it appeared several places (or, it did. Can’t vouch that the memory hole has not swallowed it). He’s caught on vid, and there are contemporaneous tweets of his session.

UK – China – Opium wars?
Not related to the topic but I’d highly appreciate it if someone could provide more information on this:
The US claims that its anti-ballistic missile the Ground-Based Interceptor (GBI) can reach a speed of Mach 33. In other words, it’s several times the speed of Russian hypersonic missiles.
“The GBI consists of a 3-stage solid rocket boost vehicle which can place it’s payload of an Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle outside the earth’s atmosphere. In order to do this the missile must reach an escape velocity of more than 6.9 miles per second. This hypersonic speed is several times what a 7.62mm bullet travels leaving the muzzle of a gun. To put it another way, it reaches a speed of approximately Mach 33.”

Does anyone know if this information is correct?

Even the Ukrainians deny that information:
Ukraine does not register the transfer of Russian troops
At the same time, from Kiev they indicated that they have not registered any additional deployment of troops, or military equipment from Russia near its border.
“Until November 1, 2021, there was no additional transfer of Russian units, weapons, and also military equipment to the state border with Ukraine,” they indicated from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, referring to data from its Intelligence department.
For his part, the secretary of the National Defense and Security Council of Ukraine, Alexei Danilov, stressed that the publication “does not correspond to reality.” “We observe all these processes, it is misinformation and it is not clear to us why they do it,” he said.

Yes this is obviously crazy and makes zero military sense. But let us keep in mind that the propaganda being promoted has a more central purpose than the obvious. This fear of Russia etc and military fantasy is really a vital part of the Western ruling class’s fear and control operation that it must constantly promote against its own people. The real driver is the class contradictions between the rulers and their own people. For the rulers, the Russian threat is code for their fear and control trip they must impose on their own captive populations. They know that they cannot let up for one second, for if they do they begin to lose their power and control over their own people. War is the health of the patriarchal state. The fear/control masters are really terrified of their own people. This is the dark shadow of the West. It just gets “projected” onto an alien “other.”
This ‘misinformation’ about the Russian’s Army deployment had only One mean. A next false flag S.O.
I wonder if the NATO military personnel inside Ukraine and in the Black Sea have figured out yet that there’s nothing their leaders would love more than for them to be killed in a conflict between Russia and Ukraine? They are there precisely to be sacrificed by their Elites and the Elites political puppets to drive a semi permanent wedge between Russia and Europe. They are the preverbial cannon fodder.
Can the West have Belarus and Ukraine borders mixed up?

We need a wholistic/grand/all-encompassing theory to explain the crazy behaviour of US, UK, and the West. Mad they may be but there could be a method or strategy behind their madness.
Could it be that they are keeping the kettle on at slow heat with the intention of turning on the heat as soon as an opportunity presents itself? The opportunity could be a moment of political transition in Russia, some (God forbid) natural disaster hitting Russia, or some other unpredictable geopolitical development. A population kept in war fever will then not need to be primed up for a big war. Incremental movements of small pieces closer and closer to Russia goes unchallenged while happening, but can add up to a dangerous threat in the long run. Isn’t this exactly what has been happening since 30 years? To the extent this all is true, how is Russia to act proactively?
Or could it all be theatre and drama to keep the masses at home distracted and, additionally, to keep feeding the war machine with taxpayer dollars? The difficulty with adopting this as the main explanation is it does not explain the systematic and well thought-out encirclement of Russia that has been happening since 30 years.
Then again, some say it is part of the strategy to maintain the dollar as world currency. Possible? To some extent yes, as a total explanation no. The dollar is not going to go away for a long time, just as the British Pound remained a major hard currency long after the British empire faded away.
And there is of course the complex phenomenon of social pathology arising out of decadence, and so many other factors. Rome decayed and rotted from within and something similar can happen again.
Thoughts all, please?
@guest
Social pathology arising out of decadence is very much on point. I mean, if you were to ask them in person whether they are scared that they are facing defeat and ultimate collapse of their power they would greet you with total scorn. As long as they live their lives in opulence and decadence, there’s nothing that really forces them to see how the West is crumbling (until it’s too late). But their instincts rarely fail them. Russia and China are non-compliant, and narcissistic psychopaths don’t take lightly to insubordination. So any stunts, however brazen and self-defeating, are OK as long as they are pestering the enemy to some extent.
Ukraine remains as of 8 long years a total non-starter for any serious anti-Russian accomplishments — meaning ’expected to cause Russia to eventually implode’.
Considering the current pandemic situation in Russia, I feel you’re correct. There have been more than 1000 deaths in Russia each day over several days in the past week. Some analysts are assuming if this is a result of US biological weapons labs in former Soviet countries which specifically aimed the Russian population. Although there’s no direct evidence, all EU countries and the US are having low numbers of Covid-19 deaths now compared to Russia
The Europe is having a hard time with gas scarcity and it might worsen in December. If the current trend of high infection and death rates in Russia continue till December, there’s a possibility that the US might snatch the opportunity to start a war given Russia’s difficult internal situation.
Let us hope I am wrong on this point! (Namely, US will not seize the opportunity to strike Russia at a time of pandemic crisis). But then, if they are psychopaths and diseased minds, they are capable of anything.
Rubbish! the Americans are dying in droves. I certainly cannot explain the differences, in death tally, but they are there, I Live in Sweden and they have more or less ignored the virus, hardly anyone wears a mask, death tally is not alarming (yet) go figure..
Has it something to do with general health? I dunnow. I will not for the life of me get a jab, that is for sure.
NATO is always on 1&1/2 foot. Ready to run in the opposite direction.
I saw this yesterday on RT:
On Monday, in an interview with the UK’s Financial Times, the head of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, said the new Nord Stream 2 pipeline increased the chance of war between Ukraine and Russia.
The energy boss claimed that if “there is no physical transit [of gas] through Ukraine, this increases the chances of a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine with all its consequences.”
In another article I read that Russia decided to stop coal supply to ukraine. Is it true? And if it s true will this decision have an impact on the production of electricity in ukraine?
Two days ago the US navy sent the uss porter destroyer in the black sea. It’s another FONOP like they do all the time.
But yesterday they also sent the uss Mount Whitney commissioned in 1971 which is the flagship and command ship of the United States Sixth Fleet. USS Mount Whitney also serves as the Afloat Command Platform (ACP) of Naval Striking and Support Forces.
What kind of drills will they practice in the black sea to justify the deployment of the uss Mount Whitney? That ship is a command ship and is 50 years old. I don’t think they decided to deploy it for nothing.
They are trying to map the surface below so another sub doesn’t bottom out on some foreign object not friendly to subs

Reznikov is a extreme hardliner who wants a military solution for the donbass. So it means more escalation and could mean war.
Reznikov is also a real nutcase
also
did you know that the head of the CIA is in Moscow for a visit?

the absurdity increases….and apparently Renz. guy was head of reintegration of the territories ie Donbass….so perhaps that is definitely off the agenda now …definitely feels like some realignement consolidation and refocusing of ukr government to ukr forces and their masters is taking place.
They would be replacing a military veteran with a lawyer. Not sure what it actually means.
Reaction from the Kremlin
Reports of a marked increase in Russian military activity near Ukraine are entirely unfounded, the Kremlin has said, after US news site POLITICO published the sensational claims.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said purported revelations that Moscow is “massing troops and military equipment on the border with Ukraine” didn’t even merit a response. Satellite imagery accompanying the bombshell report claimed to show Russian hardware near the city of Yelnya, which is around 250 kilometers from the frontier with Ukraine, and closer to neighboring Belarus.
“The quality of these publications is not even worth commenting on and, in general, you should not pay any attention to them, because you yourself saw that the article is about the border with Ukraine,” he said, insisting that the photos “show the border with Belarus… There is no need to waste time getting acquainted with such low-quality rubbish,” he added.
“The movement of some of our military equipment or army units across the territory of the Russian Federation is exclusively our business,” the Kremlin official went on. “Russia has never threatened anyone, does not threaten and does not pose a danger to anyone.”
“Still, you got to love the West’s logic: Russian military movements inside Russia are a threat to NATO and its Ukie collaborators but US military movements all over the planet, including extremely provocative ones, including ships with nukes on board, are “peaceful” and don’t threaten anybody.”
The Collective West, led by the United States of America, are Orwellian psychopaths.
The more countries that they actually bomb, invade, economically sanction, dismember, or regime change, more America and its allies soil their rainbow-color democratic-flavored panties that THEY are being threatened.
This is classic behavior of American Snowflakes, who are always playing the virtuous victim.
Memo to the America Axis: YOU are the threat.

The West has got the admirers it deserves all right. But the Ukronazis are a double-edged sword. They will bring much violence and crime to Western Europe where social peace is already crumbling. Probably, they are too dense and egocentric to care that they are helping to destroy their Holy Land while Russia is beyond their ”fighting capacity” to put it mildly.

“…The top First Prize for stupidity goes…. drumroll…. to the UK…”
Runner-up should be awarded to the German defense minister, Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (“…what is her name there” said Lavrov, “Crump, something there… :-), who just threatened to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike on Russia as a “deterrent” from a Russian attack to the Baltic + Black Sea lapdogs.
https://ria.ru/20211025/lavrov-1756208525.html
“…We have to make it very clear to Russia that in the end – and that is also the deterrent doctrine – we are prepared to use such means [nuclear weapons, Ed.], so that it has a deterrent effect beforehand and no one gets the idea, for example, the areas over the Baltic States or in the Black Sea to attack NATO partners,” she told Dlf [German radio, Ed.] in an interview. “That is the core idea of NATO, this alliance, and it will be adapted to the current behavior of Russia. In particular, we see violations of the airspace over the Baltic states, but also increasing attacks around the Black Sea…”

keep it up! Another excellent update on this unnecessary and tragic game. yes, the west makes things up and says that is true even if false! not to mention most american media sources make you sign up to see info, so they know what you read. stupid as stupid does. 200 km from border is well not on the border! Western fascism knows no shame. The English still think they rule the world and the seas…stupid as stupid does. I once said to an english person being cocky: how are you guys doing compared to India? India gains freedom and viola. English loses empire and say toujours we are the best. again is it not strange that we are in a pandemic and yet the west is digging in their bull heels just like it is a normal day.
it is obvious and clear that the occidental world is failing and falling like a bunch of apples. most people there do not see, and most certainly never admit any truth. the real danger is that though russia and china are being smart and are not falling yet for the endless traps the fascist west sets, any small spark in a number of locations could unleash a firestorm. are the youth of the west ready for a war? hardly, just the next tech toy. both russia and china understand this and smile at the games, saying; I hope you are having a wonderful holiday.
The deep seated Russophobia of the West, personified into a sociopathic cult (Bandera, Right Sektor, Azov Battalion) in Ukraine stems from hatred whose source is fear.
The fear of Russia is for two reasons. Guilt and the historic certainty of Russian retribution.
So, the socio-and psychological dynamic is not what the Russians have done.
The West and the Ukies have committed crimes against Russia and covet Russia’s natural resource assets.
Hundreds of years of envy, avarice, rape, murder, torture, ethnic cleansing, genocide, starvation, trade wars, sanctions, illegal capture of citizens traveling outside Russian borders, financing terrorists to wage war against Russia, cyberwar, and global propaganda demonizing Russia and their leaders are some of the crimes.
The more crimes that the Ukies and the West do, the deeper their psychosis.
This is the crux of what the Kremlin must deal with.
The pack of rabid dogs across the border in 404 and the infected curs in the West may at some point have to be put down en masse. The Kremlin waits and hopes the Ukie sickness will kill them naturally. The problem is the pack is huge and they all are on different timelines to their own demise. Not only is seven years not the terminal point. Neither is 30 years. And some analysts see the modern psychosis is closer to 100 years when it started.
Whatever happens, natural death from their own sickness or the rabid dogs cross a red line and then the death they are destined for comes to them and finishes them and clears the land of their Russophobic rabies.
Today, as indication of the state of their disease, Dmytro Yarosh was appointed an assistant, adviser to the head of the Ukie military. He has been “rehabilitated, promoted and employed”. No longer the chief mad dog of the criminal Pravy Sektor battalion. This nazi is a national leader. Not just a nazi war lord.
So, the carousel of corruption and criminality spins in Kiev. Mad dogs, all aboard.
The Ukies and West are terrified of the people next door and the military there that one day will have to put down all the Russophobic dogs of Ukraine and the West who run with them.
When?
When the dogs cross the line.
There is nothing to worry/fear L445,
Almost the entire Ukrainian leadership, military or otherwise, is under
complete observation of RF. How do I know that? History tells me that Russian, and before them USSR, intelligence always made extraordinary
and successful effort to penetrate enemy key informational nodes. Think of Cambridge 5, Prince Anton V. Turkul, Vatican rat lines, and many others
that will remain unpublished. In Ukraine today, building such intelligence
networks , especially among ukro-nazi cadres, are much more simple.
As a consequence, I think that as long as Putin’s team keeps steady there
will be no large scale loss of life even if there is a war. I do believe that such
a war will be much shorter than the ones in 2014 and 2015.
Regards, Spiral
Concerning the “UK which has declared that it will built a naval base for the Ukie’s non-existing navy in the Sea of Azov,” that minimal naval base would just be a ‘cover’ for other Action. The real purpose would be for inserting whatever advanced monitoring equipment the UK types could get into that base. It would be the land-based reverse of a Soviet “fishing trawler” showing-up during US naval exercises or missile launches. Except permanent. It might even have jamming capabilities, for use at a critical time. (Evacuate first.)
On the “new Russian military buildup near Ukraine … over 200km away from the Ukrainian border,” it feels like controlled Russian sabre-rattling. Just enough to give the West and the Ukies pause in their machinations, but not enough to call-out as provocative. Kind of a “we are watching you” statement…

I’m with you, this is a few rungs down the ladder of escalation but not entirely without meaning. Historically a deployment to Yelnya has a lot of meaning. The Yelnya offensive of 1942 was the first one by the Russians and it was successful. I believe it was also the 1st time Wehrmacht units were forced to retreat. Also the 1st guards units were created after this victory. So from this perspective perhaps there is a message the Russian Federation is trying to convey.
The location of this deployment is not only troubling to Kiev but also to the Baltic states and Poland. NATO can’t miss the Russian ability to force project very quickly in a number of directions.
Minsk is also reassured of Russia’s military abilities. I wonder how quickly these units could move from a railyard in Yelnya to Baranavichy, for example. I’ll bet the Russian forces could deploy and be combat ready way faster than any NATO units in this area.
I would think the invocation of NATO’s famous article 5 would come from a different region, however. Perhaps, Turkish forces in Northern Syria.

Interesting observation.
So the British are using the construction of this naval base as a Trojan Horse for a Britzie spy installation.
Perfidious Albion lives up to its name once again.
More insanity and stupidity coming from ukraine.
Ukraine must be prepared to take every possible measure to defeat the threat of any potential Russian invasion, including handing over powers to the armed forces, one of the country’s most distinguished military men has claimed.
Igor Romanenko, the former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, now serving as a commander in the reserves, made the extraordinary claims in an article for Kiev-based Glavred on Monday.
He alleges that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet made up his mind about whether to launch a military intervention across the border into the Eastern European country. His comments came ahead of some Western media outlets publishing their biannual scare-stories about a potential invasion. “Of course, they are preparing for this,” Romanenko wrote, “but if Putin starts a war, then he will have a ‘bloodbath’ in Ukraine.”
Another really bad news coming from ukraine and reported by RT:
The former leader of Ukrainian fascist paramilitary group ‘Right Sector’, known for its far-right views, has been appointed to the role of adviser to the commander-in-chief of the country’s armed forces, he reported on Tuesday.
Dmitry Yarosh announced his new job on Facebook.
“By order of Lieutenant-General Valeriy Zaluzhny, I have been appointed adviser to the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Thank you for your trust! Together we will win!” he wrote.
The risks to see escalation are increasing. I have to say that since last week worrying news from ukraine have been coming at an astonishing pace.
Colonel Cassad has a very good analysis of Yarosh’s resurrection and what that portends for Donbass.

The US will use the Ukies until the last drop of Russian/Ukie blood.
It is a cost-free policy. In fact, Kiev is a pig trough for dark money laundered into the Democrat Party. Corruption in Kiev is a two-lane highway.
The ethnic cleansing in Ukraine won’t end by itself. It has an IV in its arm that pumps weapons and money into the sociopaths and psychos.
I read the article. No negociations more escalation and war. I came to the same conclusion.
I don’t think it s a cost free policy because in case of war ukraine will be defeated and the most likely scenario is that the US will do nothing to help ukraine despite all statements and guarantees coming from the US administration.
It would be another major blow to US international reputation after the debacle in Afghanistan. Convincing other nations to follow the US lead will become more and more difficult. It s a very bad thing for a country willing to rule the world like an empire.
Martyanov is great, gotta love his straightforward style.
I don’t know all the details of what does on the UKN-RUS area but it would seem the EU elites are at it again.
The EU moneychangers ongoing assault on Russia.
They failed in 1812 and 1941 – a 70 year gap 0 and 70 years on (2011) it starts again.
Will this ever end unless Russia takes decisive action to remove those elites from power ?
And if Britannia ruled the waves I think probably its fair to say Russia ruled the landscape.
Especially given WW2.
“They failed in 1812 and 1941 – a 70 year gap 0 and 70 years on (2011) it starts again.”
You are correct. The Russian forces mentioned in the article are stationed in the so called Smolensk Gate and that is the same route to invading Russia that was used in 1812 and 1941. That same route works the other way as well. Russia has been invaded by NATO but this time hybrid warfare was used (color revolutions etc.). If a shooting war starts with Russia, Poland will be very concerned with the Smolensk Gate and the Baltic States will be very concerned with the Suwalki Gap.
I hope this map I found shows up and helps in understanding why Russia has such a large force in Yelnya. (It has very little to do with Ukraine). It has everything to do with confronting NATO in Europe.
