Today I just want to share with you my very real fears about either a terrorist attack or an “accident” of some kind in Sochi. What frightens me is that the list of potential “sponsors” for such an event is very long: the Saudis, of course, and their overt threats, but also the Anglosphere and it’s covert subcontractors of al-Qaeda and its affiliates worldwide. Less likely, but still possible, is some kind of attack by the Ukrainian extremists (they fought Russia in Chechnia, Georgia and even in Syria). But the main threat, I think, comes from the Anglosphere whose media has been constantly hammering in the message that “Putin put his reputation at stake in the Olympics” or that “Russia is trying to market itself as an attractive country to invest in” during the Games. Both of these claims are vastly overblown, by the way. Sure, like any other head of state Putin put a lot of effort into preparing for these Games and, of course, Russia hopes for a great success. But nobody in Russia seriously considers these games as some kind of litmus test of national prestige. And yet, the Anglo corporate media constantly repeat this message, over and over again. It makes me wonder whether it is in preparation to some kind of failure which would then finally give the West a chance to delight in a tragedy for which it would, of course, blame the Kremlin.
Do you think I exaggerate?
Hardly.
Just remember the gleeful display of Schadenfreude of the Anglo media any tragedy happens in Russia, especially one which could be blamed on the Kremlin. From the various hostage crises (Buddennovsk, Nord-Ost, Beslan), to the (still unexplained) sinking of the Kursk, to the 08.08.08 war with Georgia – each time the Anglo corporate media openly rejoiced to see the “Russian bear” being wounded. So considering the numerous humiliations suffered by the Anglosphere in recent years at the hand of the much-hated Putin, I am really afraid that something will happen in Sochi.
Russian cops – here mostly to reassure the visitors |
The good news is that the current Russian government is probably as good as it gets in its ability to prevent a terrorist attack or an “accident” and the Russian security services have recovered much, possible most, of their traditional capabilities. The local security services have put up a big “display of security”, which is fine, but which really will play only a minor role in protecting the Games. Most of the real security work will have to be done behind the scenes with a combination of detection, monitoring, penetration, negotiations and threats (depending on the nature of the potential enemy). We will probably never hear about these efforts, but they are crucial. There are always many more targets than forces to protect them and a determined terrorist is practically unstoppable.
Officially, the West is fully supportive of Russia and the US offered its full “expertise” to “assist” Russia. They even warned about possible toothpaste-bombs. Being the diplomat that he is, Putin warmly thanked the Americans for their valuable assistance and invited western security officials to join the special security headquarters created for these games by the Russian security services. So officially, its all smiles and support.
I think that we all know what the real story is.
I will breathe better once these Games are over.

So would i. Kriegs-fuhrer Foggy Ratmussen of NATO ,still with a bloody noose and a sore ass from Georgia, was fuming yesterday that Russia had created a sort of “buffer zone” down to Sukhumi in de-facto independent Abkhazia (with their consent of cource)a turf he never had in the first place. That´s a logic move to me considering the fact that he and the US and their Georgian client train and nurture Chechen wahhabi freaks in Pankisi Gorge. Terror-cells which they can activate in the region and blow up Ukraine simultaneously while Russia is busy elsewhere, so yes every US preparation (not to mention Bandar bin Wookie´s threats) so far points to the fact that something is about to happen should the circumstances allow them..
I share your worries Saker. From the western point of view, this is too good of an opportunity to miss to get back at Putin for all the trouble he’s been causing them. Perhaps, they intend to teach him a lesson about consequences for daring to stop their path of destruction.
What I’m more worried about, however, is that the hostile powers will see the Olympics as the perfect time to strike in Ukraine and/or Syria. Considering the fact that the security forces will be concentrating on the main event, which will certainly include security in Moscow, Sochi, Black Sea coastline and nearby borders, the resources disposable for an emergency in either or both of those places would be limited. The point is that they will not use the time of the Olympics for acts of vengeance but rather for goals already established: regime changes in Syria and Ukraine.
From an interesting article written by Henry Kamen with ‘New Eastern Outlook’:
http://journal-neo.org/2014/01/26/pattern-of-blatant-murder-and-torture-in-georgia-exposed/
‘….In the run up to the Sochi Olympics, Georgia naturally wants to show that it is really serious about cracking down on terrorism, even that sanctioned by external powers, such as the United States. However the only evidence which can be corroborated points the finger at individuals who have links with Mikheil Saakashvili, the Potomac Institute and Georgian, Turkish, American and Israeli intelligence……’
Perhaps you will rest easier once the US and UK can’t start WWIII or a major attempt to smash Russia or China.
The issue with Russia’s strategy is it’s relatively passive. As an example, it’s been to woo Turkey out of the war against Syria. This is now starting to bear fruit with Erdoghan. But he may be gone soon. All the while, the US uses bribes to the elite and violence. So, is there any rational way for Russia to try to make the US pay a price for trying to smash Russia? That’s the goal in the Ukraine, after all.

No doubt the dying Zionazi Empire will, some way or another, try to wreak as much havoc as it can while Russia is hosting the Olympic Games. And rest assured its Corporate Media Presstitutes will see to it that the sports columns “put politics in command” everywhere until the games end.
This being so, I cannot see why the West should be spared its own medicine. Put bluntly, the West cannot and will not be appeased — never ever. It is utterly futile not to confront the West in the only language it understands and indeed appreciates. So let there be “action”. The Western monkeys are brainwashed beyond repair anyway with “War On Terrorism”. Last but not least, they are also extreme cowards.
Meanwhile it’s started seeping out into the media that the big petroleum companies have lost a very large amount of money in recent quarters, and a significant part of those losses were due to their heavy investments in the fracking boom in the United States—you know, the fracking boom that was certain to bring us renewed prosperity and limitless cheap fuel into the foreseeable future? That turned out to a speculative bubble. The overseas investors whose misspent funds kept the whole circus going are now bailing out, and the bubble has nowhere to go but down. How far down? That’s a very good question that very few people want to answer. Looks like there’ll be demand for Russian gas for some time to come.
@Paul
Bingo!
Russia is always playing a defensive game. If it wants to win this – they need to get on the offense…there are many Americans disillusioned with the US Govt and Russia could take an advantage of that…

Shale gas cannot have a future. The real cost to produce is much higher than the selling price. They’re getting away with it only because environmental costs are unaccounted for and in the USA, for example, the pioneer industry is subsidized enormously.
During the Olimpic Games in London, i was afraid of a false flag terrorist attack by the empire and now i am also afraid of a terrorist attack by the empire. Perhaps i am a little paranoid, but since the Beijing Olimpic Games, when the empire organized the Georgia attack on South Ossetia, I am scare of the empire.
I still remmember the Bush jr warning of a terrorist attack in India, a week or two before the Mumbai attack carried out and which it turned out later that one of the coordinator of that attack was a David Headley who the USA refused to extradict to India to face trial.
Balaban,
I can’t but join the chorus. I think that it is to glaringly obvious that the EUSrael is concocting something nasty to go with the Games. The repetition of the mantra “Putin put his reputation…” is addressed to the imbecilic audience of the MSM (there is no article that I saw which does not repeat the main talking point ad nauseam, to make sure that the imbecils get the message).
But of course you can’t be certain what. I doubt that they will attack the Games as such or the spectators. That may turn the “public opinion” against the crazies, exposing them for what they are.
So it might be a collateral hit (Ukraine, Syria as Gagarin suggested).
What I think however, is that the Russians figured out that too and are prepared.
Enjoy the Games,
WizOz
@ shale gas…
Gagarin,
I was always convinced that shale gas is just farts. The fact is that Russia remains THE supplier of gas for the foreseeable future and that’s why they are so pissed off about Ukraine.
WizOz
Saker, I think everyone is concerned. For what they’re worth, my thoughts are that an attack in Sochi itself is unlikely. The aim of any attack, particularly if helped along by western jihadi-loving ‘friends’ would be to disrupt or halt the games and damage Putin’s reputation both internationally and within Russia. An attack in, say, Moscow, would cause many athletes and supporters to leave Sochi and, in itself, raises issues of whether the games should be abandoned as a gesture of respect to those killed and injured. Much would be made, whether accurate or not, about security being focused on Sochi leaving other places more vulnerable to attack. Putin is likely to come in for a significant level of criticism at home if anything like this happens. Personally, I wish Russia had never bid for these games but we are where we are. Let’s hope for the best.
