The Director of the Russian Federal Security Service (Федеральная служба безопасности Российской Федерации, FSB), General Alexander Bortnikov, and that of the Foreign Intelligence Service (Служба внешней разведки, SVR), Sergey Naryshkin, paid a secret visit to the United States at end of January 2018. They were received by Mike Pompeo, the director of the CIA, and Dan Coats, the director of National Intelligence.
A high-profile political figure, Sergey Naryshkin (photo) has been a member of President Putin’s security detail since the 1990s at the Saint Petersburg City Hall where Putin entered politics. He was director of Russia’s first television channel, served as president of the Duma and deputy prime minister.
Consensus between the Syrians at Sotchi (Feb 6, 2018)
While the Congress for a Syrian National Dialogue has not solved the conflict, it has swept away the minor groups who were pretending to represent the Syrian People for the benefit of the Western powers. It has also cleared the way for a consensus, adopted by the representatives of almost all Syrians, and decided the creation of a Constituent Commission. The basis for peace has been established, but without the Western powers.
I would suggest that both of the main players, Russia and the US, are managing this war as they have since 2015 when Russia agreed to enter to side of Syria, with Putin being encouraged to enter the fray by former Chief of Staff Sergei Ivanov — and without sufficient force to settle the conflict but enough to preserve the Syrian government and prolong the war indefinitely, as could only come about as a result of a secret agreement negotiated by the heads of intelligence organizations such as the FSB/SVR/CIA and people like Ivanov who was subsequently replaced by Putin who was said to be unhappy about the quaqmire into which Russia has been enticed.
I see no confusion or imcompetence with respect to how this conflict is being managed, although there must be plenty of leeway as to how and/or what each side is willing to undertake. This is how oligarchs operate the governments they control in the new multipolar world order, with each ‘business’ group extracting whatever benefits they can at the expense of the weak.
Please note those benefits have been quite considerable for Russia and the people who wield influence over it.
1. Russia has the most popular President in the world today, both within the country and without.
2. Sanctions have had the effect of making Russia stronger and more economically independent.
3. Gazprom and other Russian oil companies are the main producers of oil and taxpayers to the CIA-Barzani controlled Kurdish Regional Authority in Iraq. If not already they will soon be in control of the greatest share of oil production in Syria as well, a situation which did not exist when the war in Syria began.
4. The Russian defense industry and military has been reborn as a result of their intervention in Syria.
I do not suggest that Russia or Putin necessarily prefers the status quo, only that it is prepared to live with this situation as compared to what was permitted to happen in Libya and this fits perfectly with the desires of the Transnational Zionist Elite.
As it is currently arranged, the war in Syria can be made to last indefinitely by the United States. The two seperate announcements of withdrawal from Syria by Putin suggests the Russians are prepared to remove themselves at any moment if there is nothing for Russia to gain.
For a better understanding of the struggle for power within Russia itself I must also refer to a recent piece by expert Russia watcher John Helmer, whose article always desreve careful reading and will help you escape the notion that everything is just too complicated and confused for us to make sense.
The factional lineup for succession to the prime ministry and to the presidency is currently between officials and oligarchs advocating capitulation to the US (CUS), and those in favour of resistance to the US (RUS). The CUS capitulationists include Alexei Kudrin, whom Medvedev sacked in 2011 for trying to replace him with Washington’s backing. Also in the CUS faction are German Gref; Anatoly Chubais; Mikhail Abyzov; and inside the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov Please prove this assertion that Peskov is CUS. Mod.
The RUS faction includes Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin; Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu; former chief of the Kremlin staff Sergei Ivanov; Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev; and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
As you read the above quoted segment, ask yourself, how can it be possible, after all that has occurred in Russia since 1991, nevermind 1917, how could it be possible that those who are willing to fully capitualte to the demands of the Empire can still be so close to power in Russia.
Please prove this assertion that Peskov is CUS. Mod.
I can not “prove” John Helmer’s assertion, however, it seems consistent with what has already been reported in multiple sources, including for example, Peskov’s role in commissioning the recent Oliver Stone film on Putin and his plans, reported by TASS, to follow it up with another.
August if for rest, not for soup — even if those in power give you no alternative
The person responsible at the Kremlin for composing and illustrating cover stories for President Vladimir Putin is named Dmitry Peskov.
[….]
“Yekaterina Rogova: Good afternoon, Mr President. Recently the documentary Putin was released. The film is full of private emotional moments where you speak about your grandchildren, and moments in the church. Or consider the episode where you…
Vladimir Putin: Do you mean the American film?
Yekaterina Rogova: Yes. Even if we consider the episode where you give the horse a carrot, one cannot but feel sentimental, it is great. This immediately brings about a question. I would like to ask about your first-hand impressions, your emotions from participating in that project. And Mr President, will there be a follow-up, like with The Three Musketeers: Twenty Years Later? (Laughter)
Vladimir Putin: Where is the culprit mister-comrade-master Peskov? Must have dashed out, he is not here. But it was he who talked me into it. And my first reaction was, why? Who needs it? Everybody knows everything anyway; I do not even know what I am going to say. But he said, ‘Nevertheless, there is this director, he is very famous, he even got an Oscar, he is a talented person, and he will tell this story to the Americans, a broad US audience. Because, ultimately, this will not be so much about you as about the country. And it is important that an American viewer should learn about Russia as much as possible and from you directly.’ I had a second question to ask, how objectively was he going to convey what I will be telling him, will he cut things out or comment or distort? He said, ‘I cannot guarantee it, but he is basically a very decent person, a good journalist.’ And so I agreed.
You know, I did not view it as a project. You said ‘project’. I want to make it clear how it was done. So, the Executive Office staff, in particular, my press secretary, would come up to me and say, ‘The team is coming tomorrow, we found several minutes, an hour to meet them.’ And I would say all right.
I would occasionally forget that they were supposed to come. They would tell me ‘They are waiting.’ I would come out to them and begin speaking. Then I would leave and immediately forget about them. So it is not the way they usually make a film, with a set, the other things, questions. In addition, the director was the kind of person who does not prepare you for anything, he just comes and asks his questions.
I should give him credit, though; from what I saw…I did not see the complete film. I am going to reveal a secret to you: I watched this film on my way home from a trip abroad, aboard an airplane. But as I had not got enough sleep there, I fell asleep on the plane as I was watching, so I did not see it to the end. But I will definitely watch it. Actually, judging by reviews, everything is fairly objective there, and no sequel is being considered.”
[….]
Three things about Putin’s speech. One is a revelation — Peskov talks Putin into things which are against his better judgement. That makes Putin, in his own, almost ironic words виновник, барин — unwitting target, witting victim.
Two things aren’t the truth – it’s never been the case when Putin “do[es] not even know what I am going to say.” It’s also not true that “no sequel is being considered”. Unless Peskov has been dipping into his billion-dollar budget without telling his барин, the sequel was reported by the state news agency Tass on July 20.
“We are working on various projects,” Peskov is quoted as admitting. “We will provide information on them once they’ve become tangible. At the moment, we believe it would be premature to provide any kind of information.”
August then is for projects. A year ago, if we believe what we are told, Peskov’s August projects included ousting Sergei Ivanov, the president’s chief of staff, from the Kremlin; and electing Donald Trump to the White House. With what benefit and for whom are still unsettled questions.
Again, John Helmer must be read carefully but the implication with respect to Peskov’s position vis a vis the Empire seems clear enough: He is part of the faction within the Kremlin which seeks to placate the United States and satisfy it’s many unreasonable demands.
Further, if the United States government knows that individuals such Kudrin, Gref and Peskov want to resolve outstanding disagreements with the United States as a priority, perhaps along the same lines as matters were resolved in Libya, the Empire has absolutely no reason whatsoever to cede any ground on this or any other matter to the Russians.
If the Russians ever grow some balls with respect to their dealings with the Empire, as is said to be promoted by the faction obstensibly led by Igor Sechin, I suspect we will know it rather quickly.
In the meantime, Russian Su-25’s will be shot down whenever the Anglo-Zionist media script calls for it, the SAA and it’s allies will be bombed at will by the Pentagon or CIA Blackwater Airforce and the CIA Muslim Brotherhood sponsered Turk President Tayip Erdogan will do as he pleases in Syria — which exactly describes the situation we find ourselves in.
Given the fact that the Donbass has also been in a state of suspended animation, along with Syria, this explanation makes sense. Likewise, to this ignorant observer, the fact that White Russians not to mention Trotsky were willing to make deals with foreigners who want to carve up Russia, shows how convoluted politics are in Russia.
It has been noted many times how Putin seems to pull his punches. When Donbass was about to completely win against the illegal junta, they were ordered to stop their counter offensive. Two times when the Syrian opposition has been on the run, Putin declares victory, giving them the chance to regroup.
It is explained away as Putin’s subtle chess game, but in light of this article and the fact that there has been a long time deep split within the Russian body politic, it does make one wonder what is actually going on. The zinger about Trump being installed by Russia is one more twist of the knife.
“It does make one wonder what is actually going on.”
I agree.
How does one drain a swamp? Put some initial drainage – much water will rush out. Wait until it dries a bit. Put some more drainage – more water will flow out. Wait again and put a final drainage. Only thereafter the swamp will become dry enough to culture the land.
I guess Syria, Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are going to completely destroy ISIS for good this time. Which means they leave them enough time to regroup, get reinforcements etc. to then kill as many islamists in one swoop as possible and leave none behind.
Nonsense… You have forgoten that Russia has a history and the Russians are proud of it. You also forgot that for the 1990s gave a painful lesson to the Russian people – they will never submit to the US empire again…
Evrything can be interpreted in millions of different ways… But, only one makes sense. The more pieces you have to analyse, the more likely you are to get the best understanding of the situation.
I have to disagree with Saker’s claim that no one hates Americans. A friend of mine who was part of an American group that was on a hiking tour of Europe told me that anti-American hatred was so strong there that they went to the trouble of ironing Canadian maple leaf patches on their backpacks so they could pass for Canadians. Even though this friend was not even white, the hatred for American imperialism is so strong that you are a ripe target for violence if some of the locals find out you’re American — especially if you’re part of the American military. Also some of the youth hostels will not take you in if they think you’re American.
Indeed. While I do not condone this behavior, it is true. The few Americans we in our family know, are “Canadians ” when they are here.
One chap, a rather high ranking mil. guy, dares not even come here, scared of his own intelligence agencies and of foreign harassment.
The US has itself to blame.
“ironing Canadian maple leaf patches on their backpacks so they could pass for Canadians.”
that by itself proves that the exceptional nation is really exceptional… I cannot foresee anyone from another country being so ashamed that would try to camoflage it with another country.
what goes around, comes around, they say.
I for one can distinguish between usa and usaens. Whats more, on a completely unreliable personal pool over the years, i ve found out that many usaens that travel the world, know how bad their state really is. Not much love to be found for their own uncle sam.
Just imagine the rest of the world, its not even our uncle, but we have to let him and his evil pedoasatanistic friends have a party in our backyard?
Hello Saker, I don’t think it’s ‘stupidity’. It’s ‘hubris’. Or ‘superbia’, if you prefer. But I wouldn’t call it ‘pride’. Never liked that translation.
These people who control the West, a mixture of kabbalists, talmudist, zionists and satanists, and probably some ordinary nutcases who were invited to the party at the last minute, aren’t ‘proud’ people. They’re SICK people. Their disease is called ‘narcissism’. And hubris is one of the symptoms.
These very sick but very powerful people erroneously believe that they’re superior to us and they look down on us because we have no power. They call us the little people. They feel no love for us, only contempt. But they’re not fearless. I’ve seen fear in their eyes on multiple occasions. Yes I’ve managed to scare at least a couple of them, and will keep doing so when I can. It’s the only effective tactic against their sickness. Because they’ll NEVER give up on their power in order to heal.
That’s why ethics and political consciousness are so important, and why we must keep telling our children that these people exist, and how their power plays tricks on their sick minds, and that powerless people are not immune to this phenomenon either.
This was a truly enjoyable interview and the energy between the interviewer and The Saker is refreshing.
On one point, it looks to me as if there is a policy, but it is not a policy as we are perhaps accustomed to. The ‘policy’ that I see is contained in some Strategy documents and also regularly voiced by Tillerson, country by country. I am not proposing that the ‘policy’ makes sense, I am only proposing that there is one, and should one study the Strategy Documents, and then secondly study the actions of Trump, Pence, Mattis and Tillerson just lately, a policy of sorts appears, as well as seeking or perhaps testing strategy to carry out those policy objectives.
I would further suggest that this ‘policy’, while scattered throughout these documents, can be encapsulated in two statements:
There was this long sentence from the MadDog and I will leave out the first part : He is focusing on everything that “risks eroding the conventional overmatch to which our Nation has grown accustomed.
The second statement would be from Donald Trump in his Davos speech – generally that the US is open for business, big businesses and any friends of the US will share in the abundance of that big business, i.e., let the money flow.
So, we can figure in a strange bubbling upwards manner, from these strategy documents and speeches, at least 4 planks of ‘policy’: (3 Planks would already make a policy eh?)
– The US will have ‘overmatch’, they say, again Full Spectrum Dominance, (there are many instances of this clear in the documents quoted), and
– Full Spectrum Economic Dominance, and
– Energy Dominance (in all of the quoted documents in one way or another), and
– The fight against Multi-Polarity – The focus in these strategy documents and speeches has changed from the Fight against Terrorism to the Fight against those countries that seeking multi-polarity. “The central challenge to U.S. prosperity and security is the reemergence of long term, strategic competition by what the National Security Strategy classifies as revisionist powers. It is increasingly clear that China and Russia want to shape a world consistent with their authoritarian model — gaining veto authority over other nations’ economic, diplomatic, and security decisions”.
Whether this is rational while the other parts of the world are clearly positioning (and wonderfully standing firm) in a multi-polar power configuration is of course the question, and we will have to see. To me it boils down to a spectacular fight of some kind or another.
Let us test my assertions here just a bit to see if they stand up. Tillerson’s visit to the Caribbean and some countries in Latin America was clearly an attempt to put this policy into operation by attempting to wrest back US dominance and power projection and control over these areas and the complete sphere.
His modus operandi was simple: ‘fear, sowing uncertainty and oil’.
Fear the Russians, they are meddling with you (and in so many words stating that the Monroe Doctrine is right for our times) – focusing on the dominance part and attempting to wrest back influence in terms of the so-called policy that is bubbling up.
Then of course threatening in terms of oil, in an attempt to gain the energy dominance back.
Calling for a military coup in Venezuela to overthrow Maduro and quipping that Madura will get a nice retirement in Cuba in my book is certaintly meddling, besides issues of simply being a honorable person with some respect. Obviously that was too much to hope for. But these actions are directly focused to get dominance back over the sphere.
North Korea is a study in failure of Empire ‘policy’ and stated strategy.
The MadDog now backed off military action and said North Korea is now firmly in a diplomatic lane.
Mike Pence is attending the Olympics just to make sure that the goodwill does not obscure the so-called evil of the North Koreans, but he is still bleating sanctions.
At the same time he and Tillerson is signalling readiness to talk to North Korean Representatives.
(It would be nice if we could believe one word from these people still seeking Full Spectrum Dominance).
I found a comment while searching for a link to the latest on North Korea. It is really comical. “At this time – yesterday we were, tomorrow we will again, but right now we are on a coffee break.”
In a comment one should respect brevity and I have not done so here. I hope I made the beginnings of a case that policy is beginning to bubble upwards from the various strategy documents, and that the policy, despite new words and new spheres of operation, is no different from what we’ve become accustomed to from Empire. Is there such as a thing as ’emergent policy?. It is an incredibly dangerous time in our world.
Is the US divided politically ? Yes. However, it has nothing to do with Trump, who is not the issue, but rather an excuse to hide the real motives for these divisions.
When Trump ran for the Presidency, he had the support of 200 admirals and generals, which I found very strange. On the one hand Trump was appealing to the working man, while on the other hand he had the support of a large number of military men, Why ? Why would military men support a 70 year old man with no military or political experience ? Looks like we have our answer. They needed a stooge in the White House, who would obey their commands. The fact that Trump has Norwegian royal blood certainly makes a contribution to the military men’s choice, as his mother is related to the Norwegian Royal House of Rurik. The Bush family are related to English aristocrats. All this makes it very appealing to the elite, who want one of their own in the White House.
When it comes to the actual divisions in the US, I think they revolve around foreign and domestic policies. The elite in the US does not know what to do. The US has the largest foreign and domestic debt in the world, while the dollar is printed backed by nothing. According to some American university professors, the combined US foreign and domestic debt in 2014 was 222 trillion dollars.
On the other hand, things on the international field are not going as expected. Russia has not imploded, and the Western elites cannot thus break it up and plunder it, as political economist Lyndon LaRouche has openly stated. Worse for the Western elites, Russia and China have created the BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union. China has also introduced the Silk Road. Both Russia and China plan to introduce gold backed currencies. According to one analyst, both have more than 30.000 tonnes of gold each.
And the Western elites ? They are in a state of confusion, especially the American elite, backed by the bankers and the Military Industrial Complex. They are not sure what to do. How do you resolve a financial and economic mess ? You go to war, so that the economy can start functioning again. However, this old banker trick cannot work any more, as analysts are openly warning. Not only does the US have a huge debt. but it’s manufacturing base has been eroded, with between 28.000 – 60.000 factories being closed down, something I am still having trouble understanding. Who does so foolish a thing and why ?
As for a potential war, against whom ? Against Russia ? Against China ? I sincerely hope no such insane move is made. Yes, we have tempting targets like North Korea and Iran, but both have strong conventional forces which can give a potential invader a very nasty surprise. I also don’t advise any assault against them, as international repercussions will be immense.
Is there any solution to the current divisions in the US ? Only if the US elite renounces it’s imperial tastes, which it will have a tough time doing. Well, it better, before the US dollar implodes, as private analysts have for years been warning.
PLEASE – don’t speak of American presidents as being “responsible for” or having “done” anything. They are merely messengers, “bum-boys”, for the anglo-zionist American deep-state.
I do not agree that the anglo-zionist “empire” can be “eased” out with competition, (BRI for example). It can be taken out by brute force only. As long as any shred of it is anywhere around it is a microbe that will grow.
For the 2nd time I have listen to your RogueMoney interview with disappointment…
I am a RogueMoney frequent listener, and casually come around here looking for some interesting content, which lately rarely happens.
Anyway, your participation on roguemoney can be described as follows:
-Superficial
-Repetitive
-Lacking deep knowlege about the discussed subjecs
I am baffled! The host showed more knowledge than you on the topics, specially on the last show, and you are a supposed specialist?
Why you keep making a fool of yourself?
Its seriously hard to listen, not sure how long Roguemoney will do this, you didn’t bring anything new other than repeating yourself and being evasive most of the time…
You come up time to time with some nice pieces and articles, however you showed completely unprepared to discuss any geo-politics in a higher level life interview.
Pure disappointment!
Hope you step up your game, try to get some of the fanatic saker worshipers here to take a hike, and update your knowledge base and point of view, its outdated and does not fit current reality.
And don’t call me a neocon agent because I didn’t like your poor quality interviews.
Why should I call you a neocon? Not at all! None of what you wrote would make me think that. Instead, I think that you are probably simply a smarter or better informed person. Or simply a better person to begin with. Whatever may be the case, I am unlikely to meet your standards in the future and I therefore can only recommend that you ignore me, my blog and my eventual future interviews.
My apologies for having disappointed and bored you. I hope that this will never happen again.
Kind regards,
The Saker
All Saker interviews are interesting. However, I have to disagree with The Saker on two points:
1) First of all, the assertion that the US will not implode financially. Analysts have for years been saying the opposite. For example, some American university professors have stated that the combined US foreign and domestic debt in 2014 was 222 trillion dollars, while the US dollar is now printed by the trillion, backed by nothing. Dr.Jim Willie, who resides in Kostarika, has stated that the US will pretty soon start preparing to introduce a new, domestic dollar, since the old one will cease to be used as a reserve world currency, as both Russia and China are preparing to introduce gold backed rubles and yuans, while China will introduce the petro-yuan.
2) The assertion that Russia and China do not wish to destroy the US world wide empire. I think the opposite is true. The overall impression is that both Russia and China are playing the waiting game, waiting for the US dollar to collapse. The last thing they want is for the BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Silk Road to face a parasitic entity known as the US empire, which will be looking at every opportunity to destroy these organizations, as it is doing right now by provoking wars with North Korea and Iran.
Finally, I was in Washington and New York City in 2005. I was surprised by what I saw. The populations were despondent, while the infrastructure was falling apart. I did not see a happy picture. During the election Trump promised to rebuild the infrastructure. And how is he going to do that when the US elite is screaming for new wars, when the US Defense Budget is officially 700 billion dollars and unofficially between 1 trillion and 1,2 trillion dollars, and when between 28.000 and 60.000 factories have been closed down ? I am pretty sure the US is finished.

With what benefit and for whom are still unsettled questions.
http://johnhelmer.net/august-is-for-rest-not-for-soup-even-if-those-in-power-give-you-no-alternative/

FWIW: these are not punches.
Have patience
Nonsense… You have forgoten that Russia has a history and the Russians are proud of it. You also forgot that for the 1990s gave a painful lesson to the Russian people – they will never submit to the US empire again…
Evrything can be interpreted in millions of different ways… But, only one makes sense. The more pieces you have to analyse, the more likely you are to get the best understanding of the situation.
Did you really read the articles you are quoting, or just the headlines?
Just imagine the rest of the world, its not even our uncle, but we have to let him and his evil pedoasatanistic friends have a party in our backyard?
this is a good interview Saker – you two guys have good chemistry – it was a really fast moving conversation –
The documents of strategy that I am referring to, are:
1. Donald Trump’s National Security Strategy, December 2017.
https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/NSS-Final-12-18-2017-0905.pdf
2. The MadDog’s National Defense Strategy, in January.
https://www.defense.gov/Portals/1/Documents/pubs/2018-National-Defense-Strategy-Summary.pdf
3. Tillerson’s various ‘Policy’ Speeches for example:
https://news.stanford.edu/2018/01/18/secretary-state-rex-tillerson-discusses-u-s-strategy-syria-stanford/
4. Economic Policy by Donald Trump at his Davos Speech. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/01/26/full-text-trump-davos-speech-transcript-370861
5. The 2018 Nuclear Posture Review

“In a comment one should respect brevity and I have not done so here.”
I’m glad you didn’t hold back, you explained the problem rather well.
Goldmann Sachs created the BRICS…………………LOL.
Funny somehow the hoping and illusion of “free do-gooder forces created a resistance to the evil bloodsuckers” can continue despite facts and evidence on the opposite.
http://www.solidariteetprogres.org/actualites-001/Le-BRIC-est-il-le-produit-le-plus-toxique-de-Goldman-Sachs_06561.html
Saker…Saker…
