Two of the most beautiful voices in Brazil
Lyrics and my own, very imperfect, and free translation:
Nada consigo fazer Quando a saudade aperta Foge-me a inspiração Sinto a alma deserta Um vazio se faz em meu peito E de fato eu sinto Em meu peito um vazio Me faltando as tuas carícias As noites são longas E eu sinto mais frio Procuro afogar no álcool A tua lembrança Mas noto que é ridícula A minha vingança Vou seguir os conselhos De amigos E garanto que não beberei Nunca mais E com o tempo Essa imensa saudade que sinto Se esvai |
There is nothing I can do When the sadness appears My inspiration flees me And my soul feels lonely A void appears in my chest And in fact I feel An emptiness in my chest I miss your loving touch The nights are long And I feel colder I try to drown in alcohol The memory of you But I know that it is futile My revenge I’ll follow the advice Of friends And I promise that I won’t drink Never again And with time I feel this immense longing Slowly vanish |

genius…
The Portuguese language, to me, is the sweetest language to listen to.
It is easily understood by Spanish speakers like me and for that I’m thankful.
Lovely! Thank you.

I forgot that you were a fellow hispanohablante :-)
Like you, I understand Portuguese/Brazilian, but I cannot speak it beyond a few basic sentences
I love the sound of it, especially the soft and rhythmic Brazilian (I don’t care for the way the Portuguese pronounce the Rs, and I love the way the Brazilians pronounce it at the beginning of the word).
And I love Brazil or, more accurately, the only part I spent some time in: Rio.
Brazilian movies are a favorite of mine too.
Cheers!

Very good translation.
It’s difficult to translate the word “saudade”. But everybody knows the thing.
