Excellent interview as always. I would like to add one point. The Saker is correct. Financial greed is now motivating the EU. By the second half of 2016, the EU lost 100 billion euros in trade due to sanctions against Russia.. It is now being asked to lose even more with sanctions against Iran. This, of course, has started a chain reaction. Politics is at the mercy of economics. European politicians, no matter how pro-US, are being brought into an impossible situation. There is no way that the EU will cancel any business deals with Iran. Even sanctions against Russia were never fully respected by the EU, which still trades with Russia. When sanctions were introduced, 500 German industrialists ended up in Russia, openly conducting negotiations.
The Saker has stated that the EU does not have a leader who can stand up to the US. This is not too important. What you will get is a broad reaction and opposition to the US from European industrialists and business people, forcing politicians to look towards Russia and Iran. Merkel was in Russia a few days ago. The Nord Stream – 2 gas pipeline has not been cancelled. It’s only a matter of time before sanctions against Russia collapse.
Considering how sanctions helped Russia to diversify its economy (sadly sanctions were the only reason for that), I am just afraid if sanctions are gone, everything will go back to pre-sanctions period when Russia was importing everything and anything, completely neglecting its own potential.
Russia is a country with unlimited potential, vast resources, should have been a world economic powerhouse by now, if focus was more oriented on domestic products instead of imports. I believe Medvedev was the main reason for that.
Melotte 22
I don’t think that will happen. Sanctions have forced Russia to look towards it’s own potentials. New industries and businesses have been created. They gave incentives towards the profit motive. I don’t think things can go back to what they used to be.
One thing I like about Saker is that he admits that there are areas where he is not competent to give good opinions – like economic matters. His last comment stating a military coup might be a good thing I entirely disagree with. I entirely agree with the fact that the US needs regime change. .Can anyone point to an historical instance where the military took over and events turned out well. Pinochet or any other Latin American military coup? Bonaparte in France. Plus one only needs to look at trillions of dollars unaccounted for in the military budget. Or how the military has been unable to support the good people in the military who want weapons that work unlike the F 35 or believe that aircraft carriers are like the battleship in WW2 or…. Does anyone really believe that the military would be able to clean up Wall Street and crony capitalism? Or that many people believe that military intelligence is an oxymoron with good reason. Is what Smedley Butler (War is a racket) said about military people not thinking but just following authority false? – that he didn’t think for himself until he retired. People like Petraeus or McCrystal give me no confidence. I do believe that Admiral Fallon did have something to do with keeping Bush from attacking Iran but Hezbollah deserves just as much credit by keeping Lebanon from Israeli control. As the plan was – make Lebanon safe for Israel – regime change in Syria – then take out Iran. It appears obvious to me that the US will never leave Afghanistan until the idea of invading Iran is off the table. Pipelines and possible rare Earth wealth are just bonuses. It is true that occasionally like Saker said those officers below Colonel have not been so indoctrinated and shaped by the military systemic obedience that they can implement competent reform after a coup. They hardly ever return power to the people in a timely fashion. The US is just too big for junior officers to effect a coup. Unfortunately I think we just have to hope that the Powers That Be in the US bring the Empire down before they create a nuclear war. A major sign that the tide has irrevocably changed will be when the dollar is no longer the world currency.
“His last comment stating a military coup might be a good thing I entirely disagree with” I think this comment came out of frustration. Americans have voted at least the last 2 times (Obama, Trump) for peace and one that would care for the US in the first place, look then what happend? The system of “democracy” of the US seems totally controlled by the deep state (banks, Aipac, media, etc) all of them want only one thing, endless wars, specially wars that benefit Israel. The Sakern thought that the last “restrained” attack against Syria was due to the millitary who are much more aware of consequences should the attack would have killed or injured Russian millitary. So the Saker thinks that at least some of the US millitary might have some degree of independent decision making so he sees this as a the last hope for the US.
“Trump has no choice but to be more neocon than the Neocons if he is to survive”
Yeah, but then again hypotheticaly I think what you said holds true for all the puppet presidents of the US. I also wanted trump to win the presidency not because I thought he was going to “drain the swamp,” but because he looked more headstrong and inexperienced. So I thought their was a chance that more of the Zionist control could be exposed with him at the helm as opposed to Hillary. Who is a seasoned politician, that can hide the Zionist control better then Trump. That speculation ended up being pretty close to what happened.
actually, you might want to reconsider.
let me ask you this: where in the US government would you find
1) the LEAST number of Neocons?
2) the MOST number of patriots of their country?
I don’t particularly like military coups either, but unless you can come up with a better solution…
What does not work is voting them out of power, we know that.
A popular uprising/revolution is highly unlikely and very bloody
so what’s left?
more of the same?
there is a difference between bad and worse, so which is worse?
do you have a better “thought through” suggestion?
then let’s hear it :-)
cheers,
The Saker
At some point the Neocons will have to order the US military into a major war if they are to achieve their stated objectives- Iran and NK are two current candidates.
If The Saker’s assessment of the state of the US military is correct then it means that the only way the US can win the war is to go atomic. To which the Neocons would say- go atomic.
I guess that it will be at this point that there will be a military coup.
First, thank you for this site. I have been following it daily since the blogspot days, and have learned a lot.
As you can see, I am not a US citizen and I don’t live in the US. I wouldn’t know where you would find the least number of neocons or the most number of patriots (or paytriots…). Also I doubt it is patriotism the US is lacking most. For sure, I would not look to the military even in this country to find politicians to represent me. In fact I cannot find any decent politician to represent me anywhere.
From my point of view, a military coup is already complete in the US, most of the people around Trump are generals and make a point of it by appearing in uniform. That’s a big problem in my perspective.
As to what to do, we have to first clearly define the problem. From my point of view the problem is international lawlessness by the AngloZionist Empire, using the US military as the tool of international oppression. We even have US soldiers stationed in my country now, this has not happened since WWII. Do I trust the US military to maintain or restore peace and democracy? For sure I don’t. Not here, not internationally and not in the US.
What would be the goal of a military coup? Peace and democracy? Has that ever worked anywhere? One could be cynical and say go ahead and let the US suffer the chaos they have brought to the world, but I don’t see it helping much.
The US military budget is as large as the rest of the world put together, and that is certainly a big part of the problem. Would a military coup be likely to reallocate some of these resources to badly needed civilian infrastructure upgrades in the US?
What I have learned from your site is how the Russians usually behave internationally. They appear to be playing by the rules even when the enemy does not. This sends a strong message in support of law and order.
Whatever needs to happen is that the US must also begin to respect law and order internationally. The US is able to behave the way they do because the US population is misinformed about what is going on in the world. This will not change with a military coup. I don’t have a “silver bullet” but the main stream media monopoly needs to be broken up so that people can begin to become better informed. When the media are full of lies, nothing will work, with or without a military coup.
Overall, the problem is no democracy in the US or in the ‘west’. The politicians represent special interests, not the voters. I think the days of representative democracy must be declared as finished and replaced by some form of direct democracy based on secure internet protocols (blockchain?) so that people can participate directly in the political process.
I can’t imagine the U.S. public accepting a coup. Such a government would lack legitimacy and there would be a civil war. I also question the patriotism of the military given their willingness to bankrupt this country.
Despite the problems with the elections, it is still possible to vote politicians out of office. There is discontent below the calm surface of U.S. politics. How could it be otherwise given the problems facing Americans today? We have unaffordable medical care, or education, poverty level wages, rampant white collar crime, unpopular wars, and so on. The question is what will trigger the “revolt” and what will replace the current parties. There have been at least two attempts so far: the occupy movement and the Sanders insurgency, both of which were crushed. But both political parties are losing support. At some point the U.S. economy will crash and that will create a political crisis.
I think the problems facing Americans that you mention not being addressed only serve to increase recruitment rates. And the US military is absolutely rolling in cash right now. What exactly would they gain from a coup when they are sitting pretty? They’ve seen how sausages (laws) are made and they probably want no part of it.
To clear the “regulatory capture” of the democratic system by the establishment, it would be better to get the money out. (Some how.) It is the money that competes with the will (and betterment) of the people in the United States. It is also the ideological leash for all but the true ideologues (too harsh a word really) in the US such as Sanders and Paul.
The military is part of the “borg”, not outside of it. Many of these people believe the propaganda, as absurd as some of it is. I agree that a big part of the problem is the influence of money on U.S. politics. Everybody knows the public has wanted campaign finance reform for decades and yet somehow it never happens…
My father was in the US Army for 22 years. He was a good man, There are many good men and these days women in the military. But it is now an all voluntary force. The special forces these days are trained sociopathic killers like the Navy Seals that took part in Operation Phoenix in Vietnam where 20 or 30 thousand Vietnam were killed in their villages or abducted and tortured to death. I imagine Saker did see the video footage that Bradley Manning released of the murder of Iraqi civilians by the US military. And is there any validity in the state of men who served in Iraq as portrayed in the film ‘the Valley of Elah’. But Saker is not talking about enlisted men, He is thinking of officers. There might have been officers who thought the invasions of Grenada, Panama, or Iraq were illegal according to Nuremberg Principles. They just would have been replaced by those who were willing to serve. The military in iraq just followed orders for enhanced interrogation at the prisons (can you say ABuGharib) in Iraq. The military denies that using depleted Uranium is harmful for generations. (check out the cancer rate in Serbia or the birth defects rate in Fallujah). But it’s so effective. Or check out the record of military bases dealing with environmental contamination that they caused. I can remember the Cuban Missile Crises when the politician Kennedy faced down the generals and such that wanted a nuclear war with the Soviet Union while we were ahead in the ability to reign nuclear bombs on another continent. There has already been regime change in the US. When the elements of the CIA along with others assassinated JFK and got away with it. Since then the US has become even more militaristic and increased the use of the military for being the enforcement bitch for the global elites.
Does Saker realistically think that a coup in a country the size of the US could be implemented without the NSA knowing about it? Or the CIA? Or even the FBI? Or how did people find out that Petraeus gave classified info to his mistress? Does he really the believe the military would rein in the Military industrial Complex now the Military Industrial National Security Complex of which it is the major beneficiary. There might even be a few honorable warriors like Patton in the military but they do not make good administrators of the general welfare. Neither do the clever advancers now in charge. it is possible that the US is just too big to be competently administered. A New World Order would be even worse. Mao was a great revolutionary but a lousy Emperor. With corporations having the rights of citizens and money being equivalent to free speech the Saker is quite right that US national politics are beyond redemption. This whole brouhaha of Trump is just a distraction while different parts of the elite fight. Meanwhile the Empire rolls on. Yes, a military coup could be much worse. The return of a decent civil society and a just rule of law (its probably an illusion there ever was such a state – Mark Twain – Are we ruled by imbeciles that really believe this shit they tell us or clever people who are putting us on?). Other than this suggestion of military regime change in the US the Saker is right on for most of the points he makes. another good interview.
I read somewhere that Trump is worried that he will be impeached if the Democrats gain control of congress in the next election. The Republicans need money to contest those elections which is coming from Adelson, Singer, and another guy but the price is carte blanch for Israel.
One of your best interviews, which is saying something! Saker Falcon on a roll! Wonderful discussion of Q, the media, and the Future to come! More of this kind of thing, please! There is laughter here, cue Led Zeppelin, kids: “does anyone here remember laughter?” We need it. Kudos to the interviewers too. This works great to share with people (yer know)…
Very good interview although I disagree about the military coup; however, I do think something major needs to happen in order for the US govt (and the people) to change.
As someone is higher on the scale of power, hierarchy, the more it is supervised, controlled, because the risks with that person are higher in case of insubordination. Therefore, if some generals or senior army officers would try to mention ” regime change ” on their own initiative, I think in the next few hours they would be arrested. Change of regime can only come from the heart of the Deep State, not even from some of its structures, like the press, secret services, bankers, think tanks, etc.
So in my opinion I think this is an illusion:
Mankind has gone through the no-return point, the belief that good will overcome the evil on earth, it’s also an illusion in these troubled times. The Anglo-Zionist (more Zionist) empire, like the Titanic, will sink, but with it, it will attract most people as well.
Trump, a better solution than Hillary at the time of the elections, not now anymore , was nothing but a delay to the events to come. We Orthodox Christians know this,we should better prepare for it. Repentance, peace with everyone, soul and mind enlightenment, body purification, hope in the God-Man, Jesus Christ and not in man,our departure home,Heaven, once and for all.
The best thing we can do is to spread the Truth and behave like real human beings.Love, compassion, empathy…
Worse than the bankers rigging gold and silver prices and not having the gold that they sold you (or selling gold that they don’t have via fraudulent LME unallocated paper spot contracts or COMEX Futures contracts) is the fact that we don’t even have MONEY today. Therefore all financial transactions and economic numbers predicated on the existence of money are FRAUD and FORGERIES presently.
Electronic digits and paper fiat currencies in use today are NOT money, according to the law of the country that issues the reserve currency of the world, the US Dollar (Article 1, Section 10 of the US Constitution); or by the tenets of the science of Economics (i.e., fiat currencies are not money because they are not a store of value nor a unit of account due to the fact that NOT ONE fiat currency’s value is actually determined or stipulated in concrete legal terms). Dollars and Euros and Yens are not even lawfully DEFINED as to what they all are exactly; what their economic worth and transactional value is. Hence, fiat currencies simply cannot constitute the legal foundation of any lawful contract!
(Also, there cannot be either inflation nor deflation in the ABSENCE of money. Both inflation and deflation are monetary events which cannot take place where there literally is no money.)
What we have today is massive GLOBAL FRAUD mascarading as a monetary system based on the (fraudulent) US dollar because all fiat currencies are basically only a derivative of the US dollar, including the Euro, the Yen, the Yuan, the Rouble, the Shekel and the Riyal. Furthermore, why do a few people get the right to print fake fiat money out of nothing and buy your goods and services with it whereas you have to WORK to obtain the same worthless money created out of nothing? THAT is the question at the heart of the matter.
That the bankers manipulate interest rates or the price of gold via fraudulent Futures trading (by selling gold that they don’t have) with fiat money is a moot point. To put it differently: why do the bankers get to have anything that they want without working for it and you, you don’t? All this talk about market rigging, monetary theory and fraudulent (paper) gold trading is a cover-up for INJUSTICE. The US Constitution FORBIDS the use of debt as money; the US Constitution proscribes (debt) notes which is what the US dollar is presently.
Think, all other currencies are just another name for the US Dollar. What passes for money today is a CRIME, no more no less.
People, you are all aiding and abetting this crime every time you buy, sell, pay or get paid. And then you ask, Why our leaders, the politicians, the bankers, and our military men and women are EVIL? The answer is, because they are just like YOU. They are your sons and daughters.
Wonderful interview! The Saker is Da Man.
Yes, most definitely!
Trump is Hilary on steroids!!! (around 30:30)
Trump has no choice but to be more neocon than the Neocons if he is to survive.
This just might work out well as this means that the full idiocy of the Neocon plan will be laid bare.
“Trump has no choice but to be more neocon than the Neocons if he is to survive”
Yeah, but then again hypotheticaly I think what you said holds true for all the puppet presidents of the US.
