I listened to the full Russian Security Council meeting, then to Putin’s address to the nation, then the signing of the the treaties on cooperation and mutual support.
The first thing which I want to point out is that this was a very carefully orchestrated event, and I don’t just mean today’s live meetings and signing. For those of us who follow Russian politics very closely there can be no doubts that all this was prepared long BEFORE the Russian ultimatum to the West.
This is “the plan” which Putin once openly referred to.
Let me make this clear: this recognition should NOT, repeat, NOT, be seen in isolation. It is just ONE PHASE in a PROCESS which began at least a year ago, or more, and there is much more to come.
Next, that must be repeated again, this is NOT about the LDNR, the Donbass or even the Ukraine, this is about a new security architecture on Europe and, therefore, on our entire planet.
This means that Russia expected exactly the reaction she eventually got (western politicians are fantastically predictable, being both ignorant, stupid and arrogant) and that gave her a legal basis to take the current action (call it R2P, or moral duty, or genocide prevention or whatever else you wish).
I want to use this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to President Biden and Chancellor Scholz who both played their role to perfection, especially Scholz with his “laughable genocide talk” comment. More generally, a lot of the credit for what just happened today goes to the leaders of the Empire who played their hand exactly as the Kremlin hoped they would.
Next, I immediately want to mention sanctions. Let it be clearly told: whatever sanctions the West now agrees upon will be what they would have done in any case. I repeat: today’s recognition of the LDNR will have exactly ZERO influence on the West’s maniacal determination to destroy Russia and her people. In other words, the coming sanctions were unavoidable. That means that Russia “lost” exactly *nothing* through that move. In fact, both during the RSC meeting and his speech, Putin hinted that, if anything, western sanctions have been mostly beneficial to the Russian economy (especially the real economy, not just the value of Russian stocks or the Ruble).
Sanctions is a topic which only matters to western politicians (and their 5th and 6th column in Russia). Russians 1) remember that during her history both Russia and the USSR were more or less always under some kind of sanctions anyway and 2) that the goal of the West is not to reach an equilibrium with Russia, but to subjugate and destroy her (Putin himself said so many years ago).
In this context, the endless focus on sanctions (from hell or otherwise) is not only immoral, it is plain stupid.
Next, I want to mention four specific threats made by Putin today (note, since the PR folks at the Kremlin are still working at their usual snail’s pace, I will have to make them by memory, please keep that in mind):
- Those responsible for the massacre in Odessa will be punished by Russia.
- Putin is demanding an immediate cessation of the shelling and shooting along the LOC.
- Russia will physically prevent the Ukraine from US/NATO deploying offensive weapons to threaten Russia.
- Russia will show Banderastan how to organize a *real* “decommunization” (after indicating that the Ukraine was created by the CPSU).
Again, I will repeat here what I wrote above: this recognition should NOT, repeat, NOT, be seen in isolation. It is just ONE PHASE in a PROCESS which began at least a year ago, or more, and there is much more to come.
Unless the Ukies get it – and they probably won’t – I fully expect Russia to openly extend here “military umbrella” over the LDNR. That does not mean that she will have to move troops in, though that now is also a possibility, but that any future Ukie ground operation will be countered by the full might of the Russian military. Officially this time. The Ukros along the LOC have heard it from Putin’s own mouth: we got a crosshairs on each one of you. While I wouldn’t put *anything* beyond the Ukros, I believe that today’s clear threat will have a strong deterrent effect, whether the Ukies admit it (not gonna happen) or not.
After listening to it all, I still have a few questions to which I did not get a reply yet:
-
In what exact borders does Russia recognize the LNR and DNR? Along the LOC or along their original administrative borders? (see map). I strongly suspect that for a while Russia will keep a flou artistique on this topic, but what Putin meant was a recognition of the LDNR in their original administrative borders. If I am correct, this ALSO means that Russia will not liberate the rest of Banderastan, which I also fully approve of: the Ukrainians need to liberate themselves for once, enough of that constant waiting for the Moskals to liberate them from their “western friends”!
- Putin mentioned the immense sums of money Russia has poured into the Ukraine even after it turned into Banderastan. Will Russia *finally* impose an economic embargo on that Nazi state?
- The DNR/LNR having just been recognized, they are not members of the CSTO. Not only that, but I very much doubt that all the members of the CSTO will recognize the LDNR anytime soon. So if there is the need to launch a “coercion to peace” operation, will Russia act unilaterally, maybe with Belarus, or will she try to get some kind of joint operation with other countries? This just in: the Russian MoD has announced that it received the order to provide/ensure the safety/security of the LDNR! That means a peace enforcement (coercion to peace) has been ordered!
Some will be tempted to focus on what the western politicians will say or do next. I sure have no idea which they might or might not do next, but I would advise them to be extremely careful, because the mood in Russia is determined. If anybody still believes that Putin is bluffing, then wish them good luck because the best they can hope for is a quick, painless, death.
For the US Americans everything is measured in Dollars. For Europeans, everything is measured by Euros. During WWII Russia lost 27 million of her own people, two thirds of them civilians, as for the Chinese, they lost a whopping 35 million. These are countries and nations which will not be broken, or purchased, by Dollars or Euros.
Then there is this: if the West slaps “sanctions from hell” on Russia, what will the leaders of the West do the day AFTER they impose such sanctions? The truth that the West is already “out-sanctioned”. But let’s assume that there will be even more sanctions. From hell, no less. Then what?
Nothing, of course.
Russia has already long turned away from the West, not only culturally but also economically (Mishustin confirmed that today). If the EU wants to commit economic seppuku – that’s fine by Russia. The Kremlin is quite willing to turn up the pain dial, but if western leaders want to increase the pain dial on each other (the US dialing up economic pain for the EU), by all means, Russia won’t object.
As always, I suggest that we not jump to any further conclusions too quickly: let’s wait for the full, official transcripts, then the statements of key politicians (who will be tasked with implementing/interpreting these statements). In this situation, words matter (at least those of Russian officials).
I will conclude by a warning: I fully expect the CIA/MI6 agents in Russia (5th column: liberals; 6th column: emo-Marxists and pseudo-patriots) to unleash a MAJOR PSYOP offensive against Putin personally and this decision. Arguments will include anything and everything in between “not enough” and “too much” including the inevitable “too little too late”. If there is one thing you need to know about both the 5th and 6th columns in Russia is that for them any success by Putin (or even while Putin is in power) is categorically unacceptable and must be denied at all costs. So while they claim to hate each other, they really hate Putin much more. In fact, they hate Putin much, much more than they love Russia. I strongly urge all the readers to always think cui bono when you will hear their endless defeatist wailing!
Okay, I will end it here: let’s see what happens next.
Andrei
“Those responsible for the massacre in Odessa will be punished by Russia.”
How many people would that be, do you estimate? Could you give a basic summary of the massacre and the numbers involved in that and their role.
Putin has sent russian peacekeepers to donbass
“John on February 21, 2022 · at 4:55 pm EST/EDT
Putin has sent russian peacekeepers to donbass:”
Yes, the orders have been issued and at the request of Novorossiya Russian troops are beginning to move in and will go to the lines to enforce the peace. All units of NAF not actually in the lines are now in the lines. Counter battery fire against the orc arty is now extant. Fighting as of 45 minutes ago was heavy but the orcs are losing.
It is not officially known what Russian units are moving in to Novorossiya but the numbers seem to be significant. I expect foggy bottom’s screams to reach a crescendo shortly and continue until roughly late September if not longer.
Bottom line, VVP warned, then told, SehSha that either she agrees to the notUltimatum or ‘different methods’ would be used. VVP is beginning to use the ‘different methods’ and SehSha just got poleaxed big time.

Washington DC and NATO did not take VVP seriously, thinking their plan of invading the Donbass by Ukraine would work. Putin recognizes the two republics and moves troops into the Donbass, but not into Ukraine. I don’t think the West expected this at this particular moment, thinking Putin would wait for Ukraine to attack first.

Parubyi, for starters, will be making an appoitment to plastic surgery, but as that will not wash…
Then the other, the one of the tortured eyes…
Biletsky….
Here is a profile of Andriy Parubiy written by my colleague Adam Larson based on our work on the Maidan sniper massacre.

“Ten days before the Odesa tragedy a secret meeting was held in Kiev, chaired by the incumbent president Olexander Turchinov, to prepare a special operation in Odessa. Present were minister of internal affairs Arsen Avakov, the head of the Ukrainian Security Service Valentin Nalivaychenko, and the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Andriy Parubiy. Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoiskiy, the Kiev-appointed head of regional administration of the Dnepropetrovsk region, was consulted in regard to the operation.
During that meeting Arsen Avakov has reportedly came up with the idea of using football hooligans, known as “ultras,” in the operation. Ever since his time as the head of the Kharkov regional administration he has worked closely with the fans leaders, whom he continued to sponsor even from his new home in Italy. Kolomoisky temporarily delivered his private “Dnieper-1” Battalion under the command of law-enforcement officials in Odessa and also authorized a cash payment of $5,000 for “each pro-Russian separatist” killed during the special operation.
A couple of days before the operation in Odessa Andriy Parubiy brought dozens of bullet-proof vests to local ultra-nationalists. Ultranationalist militants from the extremist Ukrainian National Assembly (UNA-UNSO), who could be recognized by their red armbands, were also used during the operation. They were assigned a key role in the staging of the provocations: they masqueraded as the defenders of the tent city on Kulikovo Field, and then lured its occupants into the House of Trade Unions to be slaughtered.
Fifteen roadblocks were set up outside of Odessa, secured by militants under the personal command of Kolomoisky’s “Dnieper-1” Battalion, as well as Right Sector’s thugs from Dnepropetrovsk and the western regions of Ukraine. In addition, two military units from the Self-Defense of Maidan arrived in Odessa, under the command of the acting head of the administration of the president, Sergey Pashinsky – the same man who was caught with a sniper rifle in the trunk of his car on Feb. 18 on Independence Square (Maidan) in Kiev.
The role of the Odessa police forces in the operation was personally directed by the head of the regional police, Petr Lutsyuk, and his deputy Dmitry Fucheji.
Coverup and denial followed a day Odessans won’t forget. Eyewitnesses and survivors remember best of all. A woman explained she “personally saw with her own eyes how a man of maybe around 40 – they cut his throat. They pushed him on the ground and cut his throat – and they shouted, ‘Glory to Ukraine.’ ”
“Everything happened so quickly. Someone said that we all have to get inside the Trades Union building. Everyone quickly began carrying everything into the building and reinforcing everything inside. When I was on the second floor, I saw many of the pro-Maidan (supporters) gathering around. They surrounded us. They were all around the building. A fire was ignited…I went downstairs and heard shooting inside the building.”
A man was shouting that the Right Sector was coming. Everybody run. I ran into an office. Two men were brought in. They had suffocated. They were dead. “There was not a sound other than the shots. A couple of minutes passed. People inside said “let us in. Let us in. We are with you. They are killing us.
“I was in such a shock. I can’t even describe this to you. I did not expect that anyone could rejoice so much over killing someone. My ears were wringing. We were screaming. We were just begging them not to kill us. They killed everyone they saw. Everyone at once. A man was lying right by my feet. He was covered in blood. They beat him with bats.”
“They took one woman away. I don’t know where. Then as soon as they took me out of an office, I begged them to let me go because I have a small child. They could not care less…I stood there. I saw everything. They were dragging people. I don’t know where they were taking them.”
“When they took me out of an office, I was walking on corpses. Then we went on the stairs and there I only saw blood. I saw bodies in the hallway. They were dragging them. They began shooting. People inside tried to get out to safety. Some of them were shot.
Somehow some eyewitness survived. Most inside the TUH perished. Most others who got out were murdered.
IIRC Devon Archer was head of a body armor company at the time. But probably just a coincidence.
I feel that the ball in now in the West’s court. Russia has not been cowed by threats of sanctions. I am reminded of Lenin’s famous quote
“There are decades when weeks happen, and there are weeks where decades happen.”
We are most definitely in the latter!
Great quote.
Nice, huge steps but we’ve been waiting for a while!
God bless Mr. Putin’s right hand and his let’s get it done with attitude!
Long live Russia!
Amen, brother!
@AdamB
I agree with this great quote and Sakers:
“For those of us who follow Russian politics very closely there can be no doubts that all this was prepared long BEFORE the Russian ultimatum to the West.”
It seems the Domino pieces are beginning to fall quickly and in planned (anticipated?) order. Scholz just suspended Nord Stream 2 certification.
https://www.rt.com/russia/550232-germany-suspends-nord-stream/
Maybe geopolitics hitting their pockets and freezing their homes will make Germans wake up before their “vassal government” succeeds in turning them into a FIRE economy.
Thank you Saker for keeping us updated.
With the word that Russian troops are headed to Donbass, I imagine all the UAF frontline forces, as well as the nazis in Kiev, are crapping their pants right now.
Nice Andrei, thank you. :)
Maybe this will get the ball rolling on uncovering the truth of who really shot down MH17. It seems that horrendous crime has been relegated down the memory hole.
Putin has ordered the Russian military to send peacekeepers to the Donbass:
https://www.rt.com/russia/550177-putin-decree-military-donbass/
No doubt this will be an unpleasant surprise for Kiev, NATO and Washington DC, as all three know what will happen if Kiev attacks the two republics.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stated that the EU will respond with economic sanctions against Russia, which is laughable nonsense. If it does, it will cause more damage to the EU than to Russia, as proven so far.
Yes those dumbfucks in the EU now will close NS2 and NS1
Like that we will be climate neutral😂
But to be honest I’m worried that this dangerous situation gets out of control
The psychopaths in the US and Nato are unpredictable
MikeBa
Russia has brought the EU into a check mate position. If the EU cancels Russian gas, it can only get gas intended for Asia, which no doubt would cause severe repercussions. Cancelling NS1 and NS2 ? This can only be done temporarily, but not permanently, as Europe cannot function without Russian energy.
@”especially Scholz with his “laughable genocide talk” comment.”
Scholz is denying what his nazi collaborators (he is sponsoring them with billions from the German tax payer) are openly admitting. They even admit to wage war against children:

funny along these lines, Stoltenberg himself has been exposed as a radical marxist in his youth who once organized and protested against NATO with copies of Lenin books/songs hehehehe
https://www.thelocal.no/20150806/nato-boss-sung-anti-nato-songs-as-a-youth/
https://www.rt.com/news/311840-nato-chief-lenin-songs/
Yes indeed.
Stoltenberg became leader of Labour Youth by lying to them, saying he was against NATO.
This probably on advice from his father, that had different posts as minister of defence etc, but also was in charge, unofficially, of the Norwegian Stay Behind, NATO’s secret army on Norway.
Stoltenberg is like Trudeau and George Bush, ONLY in position due to his fathers power, the name and inherigated political power.
He is a very dangeroys man, a complete psycopat, willing to burn down Europe as a stealth zionist.
Norway is deeply infiltrated by zionist, some encrypted, some converts and some even with complete Norwegian surnames.
Stoltzenberg is his real name, and he is like third or fourth generation ” norwegians”, that has been acting in the favour of Israel since at least now a 100 years.
He got his first name from Jens Cristian Hauge, the man that sold Isreal the heavy water and made it possible for Israel to kick of Mossad from Norway in the late 40’s by having trainig camps in Norway.
Hauge was also chief of and founder of Stay behind Norway, where Mossad has is the fourth leg, and the other two, cia and mi6.
So Jens Stoltenberg comes from a long line of infiltrators that runs Norway and my naive people like a mental consentration camp, a tool who speaks peace, but creates wars.
Even if norway is small and little is heard about it, we play a significant role in the globalist agenda and are very cozy with close ties to such as Bill Gates, Soros, Clintons, WHO, WEF and of course Epstein.
When you talk to Norway, you talk to US/MIC/ Zionists. We are just a tool for them.
You know… Fools becomes tools
Joe:
Thank you.
One suspects, but hesitates to think it, lest the thought police……
In the past month I have become overcome with …. very negative thoughts associated with …. this individual you have mentioned as the topic of your post, and I have wondered…. I’ve seen this pattern before….
Don’t give up hope, free minds everywhere share the feeling about their unhyphenated compatriots seemingly herded like, “… naive people like a mental concentration camp”.
Take heart, please do not give up hope.
Soon, their indoctrinated hysterical tendencies will drive the propaganda bombardment to levels which will enable the waking-up of more, and more people who have not endured the pure unmanaged focus of psychological torture; they will be quite blind to the obviousness of the ridiculousness of the messaging, creating a delta within which to introduce inoculations to the informational virus.
Don’t give up, humanity is worth it.
Stoltenberg acts and looks like a stereotypical German, he looks nothing at all like a Jew if you ever seen one.
I agree with you if one looks at the world solely from a cartoon and sterotyping perspective.
But unlike many i prefer facts and reality.
Google mr Yahir Golan.
He is to me the long lost brother of mr Stoltzenberg, and possibly not very German.
Thank you Andrei. This post made things clearer for me. I live in non-NATO EU country, and just wish to live in peace and prosperity no matter what, and wish the same for all people. Hopefully nothing catastrophic follows this development. Looking forward to great comments and analysis, perhaps I learn more about all this, which I find confusing for some reason..
[Russia has already long turned away from the West, not only culturally but also economically…]
Sadly, that is far from true. Russians overwhelmingly consume Hollywood drivel, wear, drive, eat and drink American junk, and they speak some kind of horrendous hybrid of English and prison slang. Hopefully, recent events mark a turning of the tide, but there is a LONG way to go.
That is all true
Yet it is the tree which hides a forest
WHO do you think spews that shit on in the Russian media?
I will tell you who: the “non-existing” (according to some geniuses) Atlantic Integrationists.
Question: will the latest development make things easier or harder for them?
If Russian primary and high school curriculum includes English, then that should be quickly changed to Chinese. Why learn a language of people that hate you and would like to get rid of you.
As a grey-haired American, I’d advise any young person to learn Chinese. And, if the USA is going to build another iron curtain across the world, get yourself onto the Chinese side of the wall. China is where the future lies. If you are young and just starting to build a life, you do not want to be cut off from China.
Reminds me of the movie “Looper” in 2012 where this dialogue takes place:
Abe: [Joe has been teaching himself French] Why the f**k French?
Joe: I’m going to France.
Abe: You should go to China.
Joe: I’m going to France.
Abe: I’m from the future. You should go to China.
I often hear talk of Russia becoming the new seat of the Christian world, that in some way Russia provides an alternative cultural landscape to the extremist liberal ideology. However, when I venture into the Russian media landscape, especially with on the ground citizen reporters I see many scantily clad women, promotion of pornography and prostitution, western style clothing, consumer materialism with designer brands, wild party scenes with drunken men fighting, etc…
How is Russia different from the west outside of conservative policy making within the Kremlin?
Is the Russian media landscape also dominated by Jews as it is in America? Who are the heads of the media companies in Russia, and are they also financed by Wall Streets Blackrock and Vanguard?
Well, Putin is no divinely-ordained, Orthodox monarch, so until that exists, I’ll remain skeptical.
I think you are wrong.
Brother Blue Iconoclast

If you are talking about American hamburgers, you will not find them in Russia, as McDonalds falls under Russian laws. An American hamburger has 11 % meat, the rest being a combination of chemicals. A McDonalds hamburger in Moscow has 100 % beef. There is no question that Russians eat junk food.
As for American movies, I too watch them, but this does not make me pro-American. Far from it. No doubt Russians are “impressed” by all that violence they see in Hollywood movies. How many have returned to Russia from the US ?
It’s just a general observation. Open up Google Maps and “walk around” any major Russian city. Does it looks all that different than a typical North American city? Not to me. Yes, there are plenty of Burger Kings, Subways, and so on. Plenty of signs in English. Including things like “SALE!!!” Is it because there is no Russian word for “sale”? Or is it because anything English or Western is still considered cool and trendy?
And to the comment above by The Saker, of course the Atlantic Integrationists are a real political force. It would be silly to deny this. But then by the same logic, so were Peter and Catherine back in the 18th century, no? Only back then Russians were fascinated with France instead of America.
I am not saying any of this out of spite. It’s sad whenever people reject their own traditions in favor of whatever happens to be the hip trend of the day (which usually means it caters to the lowest common denominator). But you have to be honest with yourself. It always makes me shake my head when people still refer to Russia as an Orthodox Christian nation. Yeah, sure. That’s why their biggest, most popular pop star literally has “666” tattooed on his stupid fu**ing head. And that’s who most of the youth actually look up to.
>And that’s who most of the youth actually look up to.
Youth, as the proverb goes, is the only ailment that is 100% guaranteed to heal by itself in time. In fact, all of Russian nation was basically reduced to a babbling toddler status in the years of Soviet rule and is only now finding its feet again. See, toddlers tend to really like shiny things painted in funny colors that make funny noises, and they also really hate good ol’ porridge and veggies that are admittedly good for them. We Russians will shake this obsequity off in due time. Some more victories on the international battleground, military or otherwise, will only help expedite the process.
Yandex translation. Mod:
That’s where you get it wrong. I live in a country where the media acts totally unchecked. All people know about reality is what is filtered by the Zionist media. They do not seek alternative information anywhere and the result is adults living in an eternal cognitive childhood, unable to have a global view of the world around them. Military victories need to be accompanied by media victories because there is a very serious risk that these military victories will not be understood in their broad meaning by a population that is constantly imbecilized by the media. The media issue cannot be resolved after military victories. It has to emerge victorious along with military victories.
@of course the Atlantic Integrationists are a real political force. It would be silly to deny this.
It would also be silly to admit it. B/C around here western politics ruined the human race.
And who in their right mind would want to admit they are a part of that.
” Plenty of signs in English. Including things like “SALE!!!” Is it because there is no Russian word for “sale”?”
Since I don’t know the country of Russia (although I do know a bit of Russian) I won’t attempt an answer.
All I can say is that English seems to have a huge attraction for non-English speakers. I don’t think this is totally to be ascribed to cultural hegemony. I think it is partly becuase of the extreme simplicity of many English words, and th ease of learning *basic* English. It just seems to exert an attraction of some kind unrelated to the logic of the language. Because anyone who speaks even a few words of English knows that the logic of hte language is quite mysterious and veiled, and the spelling “rules” are a nightmarish joke.
Perhaps the attraction of English lies in pop music. That would make some sense. It is always easier to learn a new language by learning a song. English-language pop music reigned for a long time. Partly, again, because of certain features of English that make it very suitable for lyrics to pop music.
Yandex translation. Mod:
I fully agree with vc. Russia needs to carry on with this military political offensive another offensive, a cultural offensive that begins to dismantle Western influence on culture and Customs.
One should never underestimate the capacity that these narratives coming from the West and especially from the USA have to imbecile the masses. They are highly demobilizing and it seems that the only ones who really understand their power are the Zionists. It’s not for nothing that they own all the media.
The question you asked about who decides what is broadcast from Russian television is of strategic importance. And one should never underestimate the damage that an asshole with 666 tattooed on his stupid head can do. I know what I’m talking about because I’m a first-hand witness to what an insidious media in the hands of psychopathic oligarchs can do.
And its a bit longer than you might be thinking too, but until then, suffer bitches.
I think a good way to show Russians reality, the real one not Hollywoods is to show them, promote them those youtubers that show the endless rows of homless that occurs in every city around “the richest country on earth” to show them the reality of mostly young but even children addicted to heorin, fentanyl, etc abusing and dying for everyone to see in daylight in the US. Thats the US reality not Hollywwods.

On the subject of Sanctions – people in the West should prepare for shortages and much higher prices as “Sanctions from Hell” will result in blow back.
Basically what we are going to see begin in the next few days is a massive global economic crisis as the collective “West” attempt to “sanction” Russia (and thereby alos “sanction” any nation trading with Russia which includes China!).
By imposing “Sanctions from Hell” the collective West will proverbiably shoot themselves in both feet (maybe even both knee caps) as they attempt to impose and enforce santions on not only Russia but any and all nations who trade with her.
By even attempting this (and I dont even mention Swift and naval blockades which is war by other means) the collective West will crush thier own economies and strangle thier own supply lines.
For example,
1) In the next few weeks / months both Oil and Gas prices (and refined petroleum products such as diesel and petrol) will massively increase in price.
2) Consumer electronic products and electronic components from countries that continue to “break” western sanctions – such as China – will slow to a trickle in the West (even if sanction releif / exemption is given to China) and what does come through will be much (much!) more expensive.
3) The value of the UK Pound, the Euro, and the US Dollar may become unstable to the point of significant devaluation as both the Russian Ruble and Chinese Yuan (and Iranian Rial) come under attack and likely begin transacting outside of Swift.
4) Massive price inflation (not hyperinflation, but still serious) will occur in every imported item – not just from China – as each Western nations / blocks currency devalues against more popular / stronger curriencies – especially the global currency of last resort which is Gold (this dove-tails in with the new BASEL rules which could see Gold rise massively against the US Dollar, the UK Pound, and EU Euro).
5) There is a small but real risk of power cuts as the EU santions themselves by cutting off from Russian Gas during winter.
Summary –
If you have been holding off buying anything important / critical to your survival or security that is not made in your own country then get it NOW before the fireworks start and / or the sanctions begin to bite hard.
In a few weeks, let alone months time, you may not be able to get the item(s) you require due to the effect of sanctions, or if you can still get them they may be double, triple, or quadrupple current prices due to currency fluctuations / supply chain shortages.
If you are concerned about food or any other critical supply then I recommend that you top off your purchases (and preps) now whilst prices are still low and availability good.
Finally, watch out for bank runs and “bank holidays” (or Cyprus style “bail ins”) as banks come under pressure from thier own governments “sanctions from hell” (in other words you may wish to have some cash outside the banking system just in case things get eally, really bad.
Good luck everyone, its going to be a very hot summer.
Biden loves inflation.
It is never mentioned when he gives record amounts to the military, the spies, and the police. So, its not a problem to the things Biden wants to do.
And it is used to hit people over the head anytime anyone suggests spending money that might actually benefit ordinary people. You can’t have that. Inflation! Inflation! Inflation!
Joe Biden loves inflation. If you doubt that, remember that he could cut prices by 15% with one stroke of his pen. All he has to do is to cancel the executive orders that put Trump’s tax hikes (aka tariffs) into place.
no, he does not.
but he is stuck.
if the Fed raises the rates, a tsunami of bankruptcies will begin
and if it does not, then inflation will get even worse (double digits possible my end of March according to some well informed friends of mine).
This is a collapsing Ponzi scheme, not a policy by Biden
Biden immediately froze Trump’s low cost rules for insulin and epinephrine, and the prices for those drugs shot way up. It was a move for Big Pharma to get extreme profits. There weren’t going to be any bankruptcies by keeping those drugs at a reasonable price. So you can’t say he and his administration are doing it to stop bankruptcies as there are more agendas in play.
https://www.swfinstitute.org/news/83900/pharma-biden-freezes-trumps-lower-cost-insulin-and-epinephrine-rule
Well, even now inflation is over 9% annualised (USA). Double digit is more than probable.
Inflation if you go by the rigged government figures is 7.5 %, if you go by John Williams of Shadowstats figures, its closer to 15 %.
Shadowstats measures inflation today as it was measured in the 1980s.
The Biden Admin collapses during the next Congressional elections (if we have elections) with all its problems including rampant inflation, but then what? Doesn’t Sam just get more desperate? Is there a face-saving way we can collapse without bringing down the world?
Whatever happens, lets hope for a defeat for Uncle $hmuel and his numerous “allies.” He wouldn’t nees so
many allies if he didn’t have to have so many enemies. You see, Uncle $hmuel has to have his enemies. His
economy depends on them.
Excellent! Absolutely brilliant!!!
I was talking to a person in Donetsk while Putin gave his speech.
Russian troops reportedly already in (one at least of) the republics.
Long live Donbass and People’s Republics! I agree with Putin all the way, well, except his “Decommunization” comment, can’t say I liked that too much. I guess with the KPRF on his heels he’s doubling down on the anti-Soviet rhetoric. Hahaha.
Putin was reminding the Ukies that their country’s borders were determined by Soviet policy, as was most of their industrial development and infrastructure. What he is saying is that they can’t have their anti-Communist cake and eat it too. He is cutting them down to size.
If I got that passage right, It’s more nuanced than that. First, Putin is making history relevant once more by reminding Ukraine that its father is Lenin. This is already something huge that will induce endless pain in scum like Tymoshenko. Then, Putin criticizes Ukraine for negating its own history, removing Lenin statues all around. It’s this unholy parricide that will get Ukraine its karma: by decommunizing they are negating their own history. This, once Russia acts, the decommunization they long for will bring Ukraine such result: what was Ukraine before Lenin? It was just lands and provinces of Russia.
So you see… It’s not about eliminating Lenin, not at all. That’s what the maidan nazi circle does. Once these russian provinces and lands will.return to their pre-national status, the free russians will be able to judge on their own about their past, their leaders.
Remember that Putin has shielded the mausoleum in the Red Square. And rightfully so.
Most importantly, when will China recognize Lughansk and Donetsk? This is crucial not only for legitimacy but for economic survival of LDNR.
Cheers,
Mathew
It is irrelevant. It is only important that Russia does. Minsk agreements weren’t followed by US controlled Kiev. After starting a new round of violence, enough is enough.
I am sure the US expected this as one of the outcomes, but this wasn’t the outcome they hoped for. However, they will milk this as Russian aggression and try to run with it.
These so-called 5th & 6th columnists should be loaded on buses and driven to no-man’s land in Ukraine. Their houses and flats given to Ukrainians/Russian ethnic going the other way. F**k the EU and the parasitical 5 Eyes genocidal psychopaths.
I think this is only the start, not the end. 1.The small Ukrainian attacks on actual Russian territory is a “Casus Belli” if Russia wants to use it. 2.The fact that Putin talked so much about the threat of Ukraine getting nuclear weapons. That is also a good reason. 3.It’s more than likely crazies among the Ukrainians won’t stop attacking Donbass.Which will cause fighting with Russian troops.Another good reason. 4.Crimea can’t be really secure (including with water) until Ukraine is liberated.Another good reason.
I also think this was planned in advance. The way this was put together so quickly, says it was already planned “just in case”. Now I’m wondering if there is a Ukrainian “shadow government” already being prepared for when they are needed.
I think the Contact Line just got a whole lot deeper into Ukie turf.
Now, keep the OSCE out.
I wonder how many brave snipers who shot civilians are still hanging around the front lines.
NATO suddenly had a need to redeploy to Poland and points west.
You won’t see them east of Lviv.
They’ve been talking about fighting the Russians all this time. I bet they won’t be too keen to take on actual Russian armed forces.
From a view far away from Ukraine but from a person who watches these machinations closely, I am AMAZED that NATO had the complete lack of gonads to stand and at least observe what is happening in Ukraine. As soon as the heat was turned up, they ran away!
I mean…. what the hell are they there for? Aren’t they a fighting force? a compilation of nations feeding their money into an alliance that supposedly protects against aggression??
I understand that Ukraine isn’t a member of NATO but for all intents and purposes, they are a prospective member and perception really does count.
And as soon as the rhetoric (just the rhetoric) was increased, they RAN AWAY!!!
If that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know about the military situation in Europe, nothing does!!!
NATO is not a military organization. They are a criminal organization involved in mass murder, arms sales, corruption, drug trade, and crimes against humanity.
Of course they won’t stand and fight.
They need proxy armies (takfiris) to fight for them.
Their words and warnings are pure B.S. Basically, they are gutless wonders.
The Russians would shred them in a few days.
Any word from China? Iran? Cuba? Guatemala? Anyone else other than EU/NATO?
Zhang Jun, Chinese ambassador to the UN, made the following remarks at a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine held on 21 February:
“At present, all parties concerned must exercise restraint, and avoid any action that may fuel tensions. We welcome and encourage every effort for a diplomatic solution, and call on all parties concerned to continue dialogue and consultation, and seek reasonable solutions to address each other’s concerns on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
The current situation in Ukraine is a result of many complex factors. China always makes its own position according to the merits of the matter itself. We believe that all countries should solve international disputes by peaceful means in line with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.”

Will you settle for 1 Cuban’s words? :-)
I agree with Putin.
I have one one word for this:

It’s a pity Zakarchenko, Givi and Motorola isn’t alive to see this day.
It’s a pity Zakarchenko, Givi and Motorola isn’t alive to see this day.
True,
But, as Margarita Simonian said today “now their deaths have not been in vain”.
I agree.
Glad this is mentioned, I was thinking about that today. They are definitely there in spirit and their deaths are not in vain. Today was the next step in the efforts they pioneered.
Exactly my thoughts, too. Actually, I frequently think about them when I read about Donbass. Very moral, intelligent and courageous people. Something the imperialist west doesn’t seem to have…
wow, i have not heard their names i years. legends. Sad of their passing during ‘peacetime’. Fights wars but ends up dying when in power.
I loved all of their down to earth interviews
Russia can no longer allow any air or maritime violations of her territory without responding instantly with lethal force.
Let us hope the West understands that.
If they don’t, they will see for themselves…
But, knowing the West, they will send a Ukie to die, not an Anglo…
As usual, nothing to opose. Same thoughts here.
Just have a feeling that before west reacts, pain dial will click a notch elsewhere.
My bet is China will sucker punch the Empire at Taiwan.
It seems that friendly tennis match is about to start, with UK/US in the role of ball.
I think this recognition is entirely consistent with Russian actions so far, which is to base their actions on Western/U.S. misbehavior(broken treaties & promises, ect. ). In this case they are basing the recognition on the illegitimacy of the 2014 coup and actions since. I believe Putin has a legal background. If the West wants to complain about this recognition, they need to answer Russia’s concerns about the outrageous, illegal 2014 coup and U.S. control over Ukraine. Washington is used to countries pretending not to notice U.S. crimes, because they are intimidated or controlled, but those days are over. If Washington commits a crime today, they can expect to hear about it, at least from Russia.

Anyone can confirm if this is real or fake? Supposedly the decree signed by Putin is almost identical copy/paste of the Georgia 2008 decree according to this pro-western shill account. It would be funny if true, deliberate on Putin’s behalf

The world has had enough of US terror. No amount of dollars, Nobel Prize laureates, or free, two-day Amazon Prime shipping will make up for the millions of lives lost and civilizations destroyed by the US terrorists.
Thanks for the analysis Andrei
Could you comment on the recent statements made by Colonel-General Ivashov? How influential is he? Or is he a 6th columnist?
Colonel-General Ivashov is an absolute piece of human waste who emerged in the later years of USSR as one of the reviled Arbat Military District (then-ubiquitous jargon for officers who ditched real positions in the troops for a cushy career in the Moscow HQ) officers. He started his rise in independent Russia’s military by betraying Marshal Yazov (one of GKChP leaders) who he had been a loyal underling for up until the Soviet Union’s fall and the surrounding turmoil. He then found a nice niche in the Ministry of Defence of a crumbling country, having a finger in each pie of corruption (admittedly there were many in those years, dire for the Russian Army) and trying to insert himself in each and every bit of good stuff Russian Military managed to pull off in those sad late 90s-early 00s, like the legendary Pounce on Pristina (where he basically made a case for himself to be considered the mastermind behind the whole shebang, which was a laughable stretch). Later in the 00s, Ivashov was challenged with a few heavy corruption charges and agreed to quietly retire for fear of being exposed as one of the orchestrators of Russian Army’s (then assumed) sad demise. Today, he is old enough to not fear any (however grounded) criticism; that’s not going to get the decrepit fool a jail sentence or something, as we Russians tend to be very forgiving to people who are talked of as having merits before the entire country. Maybe it’s the geezer’s last chance to earn a few shekels so his offspring can have a better life outside Russian jurisdiction. Maybe he’s just gone senile. In any case, Ivashov is not a credible source on anything Russian, let alone government-connected.
Thanks for the summary DG
The end of the beginning as Andrei infers.
Those US cockroaches will be butthurt and bleeding. The only language they respect is gunboat diplomacy.
They’ll come back bleating worried about Putin/Russia’s next move. Proactive, no procrastinating, Russia must dictate to these cowards that their genocidal ways/with no consequences days are over.
“For those of us who follow Russian politics very closely there can be no doubts that all this was prepared long BEFORE the Russian ultimatum to the West.”
Saker, I agree.
A commentator (Cosimo?) pointed out that 𝙐𝙎/𝙉𝘼𝙏𝙊 𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮-𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙬𝙖𝙨, per statement of one of the negotiating diplomats. This event may be one of the big pieces.. After recognition of the Donbass independence, to send **Russian** peacekeepers.
And that may be why USUK kept up the media hysteria too! They really knew it was coming. But got the order and means wrong (in addition to date) – Russia would build the legal case, establish Independence, THEN “invade” legally, using their own precedent of R2P!

“what will the leaders of the West do the day AFTER they impose such sanctions?”
Why they will freeze of course, as will their electorates, then their industrial base will contract and be less competitive [the US will cheer]. What happened when sanctions were imposed by Europe on European farm produce after 2014? The Russians used other markets notably in South America or became self sufficient causing European farmers huge loses.
The Russians were threatened with the terrors of the earth but did not panic, they have huge self respect and I admire them for it.
Well, I didn’t see that coming. I still believe there is another move going to happen in the ME though.
Long life Tsar of Moscow and All Russias, comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin!
” For those of us who follow Russian politics very closely there can be no doubts that all this was prepared long BEFORE the Russian ultimatum to the West.”
So, it’s a fair guess that all the mumbo jumbo warnings in the West about a Russian invasion was a desperate attempt to forestall something that Western intelligence was saying would probably occur, anyway, no?
This is not a subtle difference.
The impression I had had is that the US was basically trying to egg on Putin to invade, the most plausible end game being the sinking of NS2 (and not a military defeat for Russia, apparently a laughable possibility.)
However, based on what you write more the opposite is the case. NS2 must have been a secondary concern. Washington actually focused on trying to forestall Russian intervention, by making it clear that all blame would be heaped on Putin’s shoulders for any intervention.
Biden’s polling is in the toilet, but Biden’s handlers may have figured that being ‘humiliated’ by Russia annexing eastern Ukraine would be a worse political outcome than risking the pretense that Russia would invade, but then it being seen that this was a hollow claim, if they failed to entice him in.
And why would this be? Maybe because exposing the West’s weaknesses is considered more of an existential threat to empire than Europe being dependent on Russian gas. Or … maybe because Biden “lost” Afghanistan, and losing eastern Ukraine underscores his previous foreign events blunders.
Mostly spitballing, here…. The most accurate answer may depend on whether Biden’s handlers are more concerned about domestic or international politics. I have no way of knowing…
Russia recognizing DNR and LNR is not the same as “Russia invading Ukraine”. Far, far from it.
Kiev is nowhere near DNR nor near LNR. Even in their administrative borders.
The Deep State don’t care about the puppets they put in the White House. They’ll just put another one in in 3 years time. They’ll be just as inhuman, just as incompetent and just as hegemonic in tone.
As I predicted in previous thread, it seems Biden admin and western leaders will downplay this because they are neutered and have no further action to take. They already have done every type of sanction they could do and nothing is effective and they know they don’t have the mandate from their citizenry nor the guts to launch war against Russia so they will simply pretend what Putin did today was not that big or important.

NEW: Following a call with a senior administration official, it’s unclear whether the West’s “swift and severe” sanctions will be triggered by the Russian military’s movement into the occupied Donbas territory or only in the event of movement into Ukrainian-held areas.

Dear Andrei; and to all commenters here:
We live in the US and are fairly savvy with how the US Financial Markets/The Fed, the Big Banks, Wall street, etc.etc. operate.
ALL of the politicians, especially people like Biden are ALL paid off by these huge corporations/banks/insurance companies, big Tech & and Defense Corporations who are worth untold multi-billion $$s. THEY ARE the real masters behind the scene.
They tell these politicians in the US, the Uk, and the EU what to say to and how to say it to the Western Press, and foreign leaders etc. etc.
Another words, Western politicians are mere mouth pieces for the Ultra Wealthy.
Has Ukraine severed its diplomatic relations with Russia?
My guess is that it will not happen. There are many reasons why, mostly economic ones, but the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign affairs provides the lamest reason ever!
@ Petri Krohn
“…protecting Ukrainians in Russia” my ass.
With approx. 3 million Ukrainians in Russia (2017 figures), and counting, sending home 1.3 billion dollars in 2017 only (real figures are higher but difficult to estimate as they go underground due to the Ukrainian transfer ban), Ukraine cannot afford to cut off relations with Russia. It has nothing to do with “protecting Ukrainians,” they don’t give a damn about their own people, who they have impoverished and used for their wicked neo-Nazi policies, reason they prefer to leave, anywhere but Ukraine.
It’s about money, as Putin recounted today in his brilliant speech denouncing these ungrateful, bloodsucking leeches, benefiting from the Russian treasury, while prostituting themselves with the West.
Lone Wolf
I think “protecting Ukrainians in Russia” is a technical term, meaning no friendly country was willing to host a Ukrainian “interests section”.

Just a thought. If sanctions are now applied against Russia ( and the Donbass ) does this mean that Russia will impose sanctions on the U.S.A.?
Russia is the second largest exporter of crude to the U.S., supplies them refined Diesel, Gas and various titanium products plus rocket engines.
I’d enjoy watching the tantrums that course of action would propegate in the U.S.!

Because Russia makes good profits from such trade, why should they shoot themselves in both feet. Better to let the European vassals see the US freely trading with Russia and wonder why they should have to suffer loses by forgoing their more substantial trade with Russia i.e. futile gestures. This will cause rifts in NATO, as it should

I’m not sure if this is ‘the plan’ that VVP was talking about but I’m pretty sure the Kremlin has assessed that Minsk is dead. RF is now marching to its own drum; it doesn’t care what the West says or does, and it doesn’t care about sanctions. Not any more. I expect negotiating positions to shift a bit after this recognition.
A couple of days ago CSTO sec-gen floated the idea of a CSTO peacekeeping force in the Ukraine.

Who would you say was the target audience of Putin’s speech?
I suppose most Russians know the history lesson given pretty well. Only the tail end of it concerned the issue of the day: LDNR.
Ukrainians? Part of a plea to stop counting on the West, to remember history, and to take their country back? It’s obvious to me that the masses of Ukraine support friendship with Russia. But maybe this was a more detailed reminder of WHY average Ukrainian people feel the affinity they do for Russia, WHY they latently know that all this EU/NATO talk is garbage, WHY they voted for Yanukovich twice (he had to have won in 2006), WHY Poroshenko had garbage approval, WHY Ze’s platform of ending the war in Donbas & partnering with Russia was so successful; etc. etc.
Second note – any chance that Orban/Szijarto get louder about the Ukrainization of Hungarians and go at it from that angle?
who was the target audience of Putin’s speech?
Easy answer: Posterity.
Well, things moved much faster than I expected. I was just posting the other day that I thought Putin would not recognize the republics until he decided Minsk was dead.
Apparently that decision was made today.
So I should probably shut up now. (But of course, I won’t.)
As usual, however, I have many questions to which at the moment there are no clear answers. So as Andrei says, I will hold them for a bit until some clarity emerges as to the actual responses of all parties – not just random statements. I think the West is a bit shell-shocked today, as am I, so best to wait until the smoke clears.
Wrong.
Ukraine officially proclaimed Minsk agreements dead a couple weeks ago. Russia just recognized that fact. Pun intended.
I think the decision was taken several days ago, but he had to go through the diplomatic motions giving NATO and Ukraine the chance to show that Minsk meant anything.
Putin does not do anything on the fly. He has planned for this necessity.
It’s chessboard like : the horse ate the fool :)
Looking at the massive coordinated celebratory fireworks, everything have been pre-planned way ahead and is now falling in steps.
Putin was reminding the Ukies that their country’s borders were determined by Soviet policy, as was most of their industrial development and infrastructure. What he is saying is that they can’t have their anti-Communist cake and eat it too. He is cutting them down to size.

I see the beautiful railway station in Debaltsevo is fully restored. It looked much worse when I was there soon after liberation.
This reminds me of something. Ukrainians have had fire control over the motorway and the railroad between Makievka and Donetsk. This is no more.
The trains will finally start running to Donetsk. Up to now the passenger train from Lugansk to Donetsk stopped at the Makievka railway station. One had to take a minibus to Donetsk. The trip took all night.
Trains have been running these past few days to take the least protected ones back from certain parts of Donbass to Russia proper and keep them safe while this debacle is being solved. Some of those were the first trains to run in these parts in years. In Russia, a passenger train has a bigger meaning than most in the world will understand. Trains used to stitch all parts of our endless land together, running on a strict schedule and very rarely letting their passengers down. A couple years ago, the first train that made it to Crimea over the new bridge sparked enormous festivities on the peninsula. Wherever trains are running, Russia is safe, strong and chugging along. Symbols everywhere.

What have been the US objectives during this crisis? If NS2 is dead, who has won? Please note, the preferred (and highly successful) methodology of US Empire for the last 6 decades is divide and rule: subversion, fragmentation, economic isolation, alliance with proxy forces, and co-option of a local elite followed by economic domination. Direct US military action is rarely used, and then only against a weak opponent. What we have seen is an iteration of this strategy. Subversion, co-option and economic dominance is the methodology of US Empire (as it was the British before it). It is not stupid or cowardly. It is what has worked. And it is the methodology US will continue to use. A big congrats to the Russians for finally getting a clue and drawing a line. What does the future hold? Turmoil, lies, disinformation, chaos, confusion and propaganda are standard operating procedure for the Empire–and will continue indefinitely. Large scale war has not been, and will not be, on the table.

I think the next few days will be very important. Will the UAF withdraw from the LOC? If I were a UAF commander I would highly advise it. Or will the UAF will go fully offensive before Russian peacekeepers can establish there positions? This would be a titanic mistake, I think. Not long from now the Pripet swamp will thaw releasing its water into the rivers and the rain will come. The time of decision is here and the UAF are in a bad position, there is only an orderly retreat across the Dnieper or a slaughterhouse. The Russian military has many options here and I think a few will shock the world if it is deemed necessary. I hope for the sake of the poor Ukrainian foot soldiers that there are reasonable people somewhere in the Ukrainian high command. I honestly would hate to see these poor, young idiots lead to the slaughter.
Mr. Putin is truly a man of God. I love to be his student, and learn a lot from him. Maybe, make a thorough study on his leadership since 2000. I admire mr. Putin, an astounding moral and sympathy towards its people, a true leader of Russia. Savior of the world, before the true Savior Jesus PBUH come unto this world. May God always guide him.
Also, Russian political move is beautiful, excellent, carefully executed, well played & well coordinated. It showed that Russian leaders are sane, patient & diligent, they were indeed guided by God through the time. They had always tried to avoid unnecessary escalation, avoid to cause any “collateral damage” unlike the western politicians, who can only bomb first, talk later.
May God bless Russian leaders & true Russian people who fear and submit only to The Great God!
“Our cause is just, the enemy will be degeated, victory will be ours!”
Bravo Russia. But I wish people wouldn’t refer to what it is about to do in the Donbas as “R2P”. R2P was a profoundly cynical and illegal human rights formulation by Tony Blair as a smokescreen for an unprovoked war of aggression by NATO on Serbia.
“…my deepest grattitude to President Biden and Chancellor Sholz who both played their role to perfection…”. And Macron who, with a bit of encouragement from Putin, has been like a headless chicken this past fortnight on the phone 24/7 to every man and his dog. To what effect? Zero. So the impotence and incompetence of European leaders was on full display for all the world to see. In which case it was up to Russia as the only one that could fix the problem.

It is now up to the European people, especially the Germans, to decide that their NATO leaders are as insane as Nicolae, and that it is time to fire up the farm tractors.
Even the average German village idiot must see that these paths are leading to Berlin 1945. And while the people are flushing out their politicians, they may as well remove the debt bankers as well. A full spring clean!
Crisis, can be opportunity!
The reason Nicolae Ceaușescu was executed is because he rid Romania from debt. Romania was debt free then. Now Romanians prostitute themselves, clean toilets, rob ATMs and beg on the streets of Rome, Paris, London….Or pretend to be an important cog in the Satanic NATO machinery.
But are those Romanians or Romanian gypsies?
Will Blinken still meet with Lavrov on Wednesday? I think not…
In the translation to English of his speech in the Kremlin website, there is still only a short part translated, but there again Putin refers to the “USSR’s formation”, asking several questions about it for which no doubt he has his personal answers (as is natural to suppose from him). The way he phrased the questions, now and before, I think shows (clearly) that he believes the Bolsheviks, Lenin in particular, were against Russia, out to disintegrate it (a disintegration whose motive he asks about), that they used excuses, their false dilemmas and arguments to do that. Here from the speech:
“Lenin’s ideas of what amounted in essence to a confederative state arrangement and a slogan about the right of nations to self-determination, up to secession, were laid in the foundation of Soviet statehood. Initially they were confirmed in the Declaration on the Formation of the USSR in 1922, and later on, after Lenin’s death, were enshrined in the 1924 Soviet Constitution.
This immediately raises many questions. The first is really the main one: why was it necessary to appease the nationalists, to satisfy the ceaselessly growing nationalist ambitions on the outskirts of the former empire? What was the point of transferring to the newly, often arbitrarily formed administrative units – the union republics – vast territories that had nothing to do with them? Let me repeat that these territories were transferred along with the population of what was historically Russia.
Moreover, these administrative units were de facto given the status and form of national state entities. That raises another question: why was it necessary to make such generous gifts, beyond the wildest dreams of the most zealous nationalists and, on top of all that, give the republics the right to secede from the unified state without any conditions?”
At that point, Lenin’s gang had next to no influence over the nationalistic elites in Russia’s breakaway outskirts. Those listened just as eagerly to emissaries from Britain and elsewhere. He had to offer them something really enticing, like a legit voice in governing the world’s biggest country (as opposed to being petty sheikhs in tiny satrapies controlled by foreign money), and to get them on board, he was willing to make any concessions – at the expense of Russians, as it would turn out. Letting them break off, Lenin would very soon face the challenge of keeping Russia proper together – and he needed every poor disenfranchised Russian to support him at that point, because failing to keep these in line would once and for all torpedo his plans for exporting the revolution to Europe. As it happened so many times before and even sometimes after, Russians ended up getting the short end of the stick here, despite being the driving force behind the entire thing. I think one can read in Putin’s eyes during his speech today, and certain earlier ones, how he feels about that facet of history.
I notice in the video of the speech that he himself answers like you say, that the Bolsheviks acted in that way to please nationalists and preserve their power. Since he answers that way to his own questions, I modify my understanding of where he stands. Yet Putin’s answer is not fully satisfactory for his own question: “why was it necessary to make such generous gifts, beyond the wildest dreams of the most zealous nationalists…?” Putin does depict Lenin as someone who sold out Russia’s interests for the sake of power. That’s “anti-Russian” too.
It has been evident for all to see that Russia has a plan, unlike US-NATO who are stumbling down the ladder. I’d say Syria and China will recognize next, maybe even Iran, remember Russia recently recognizing Taiwan as part of China?
As for US and NATO stupidity, I’ll say this: Biden has already informed of sanctions to Donbass, but then that surely implies US and NATO recognize Donestk and Lugansk as independent territories! It’s either that or they’re sanctioning Ukraine. Go figure!
Brent at $97 and Dutch natural gas at €73. Gold up $10 to 1910. Frankly kind of a muted response from the financial world so far, I would have expected much more.
Of note is that last week US was emphatic that sanctions would not touch energy nor involve SWIFT disconnection. Just as well. Zone A doesn’t want a recession while handing Zone B a nice energy windfall.
Disconnection from SWIFT guarantees its irrelevance in 5 years.
Watch how the US gets even more eager for a deal with Iran.
Russian stocks are unbelievably priced right now, like insane. They are absolutely the best deals going globally.
Geopolitics are getting tense and situation may burst any moment. Efforts to save loss of human lives must be accelerated.
IMO President Putin and Russian leaders in Duma took an unavoidable decision to revognize and protect Donbass (part of Novorossiya ).
LDNR is defined by its complete geographical reach which is much larger than currently defended core area.

I am personally very excited to see what happens at the emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. I think the ‘combined west’ is going to be in for a shock. I see a Chinese statement of recognition and full support to Russia is coming. But far more shocking the the west’s fragile psyche, I think, will be how many other nations back them. Brazil I bekieve has been wooed, I strongly suspect Ghana and Kenya will recognize them… heck, even India might finally decide to rebuke anglo imperialism! There will be an even greater shock when the question is put to the general assembly. The world is about to show the west what it thinks of it, I think…
👍
Yes this is going to be interesting to watch
Saker, the most intriguing part of Putin’s speech was declaring that Ukraine is an artificial state begun by Lenin. Even though I’m known this for a long time and Putin did speak about this in one of his lengthy talks on the subject the fact it came up today of all times is really fascinating. Depending on how events transpire in Ukraine I think that Putin is leaving open the possibility of chipping away from artificial “Ukraine” the remaining Russian speaking eastern area up to the Dnieper River and the south up to Odessa. But I completely agree with you that these areas need to do a Donbas-repeat-performance and liberate themselves for Russia to openly offer assistance. It’s tough love, baby. You gotta prove your worth. Who knows what the future holds. Maybe these remaining areas won’t attach to Novorussia but may organize themselves into another independent republic which can then federate with Novorussia into some new nation. Who knows?
By the way France performed their act as the good cop while the US as the bad cop and Germany as the joker.
Don’t you remember the peaceful young people gathered outside the Trade Center in Odessa, and what happened to them? Odessa has paid her bill in horror — we saw it happen. Moreover any who were not in support of the coup have been living lives of oppression and subjugation. Those tales will be told, and it is more than sufficient. Their bills are paid.
BREAKING: Ukraine renewed shelling of Donetsk and Lugansk

At 01:55 – Zamozhnoye: fired 12 shells of 120 mm calibre;
At 02:45 – Bogdanovka: fired 12 shells 120 mm calibre.
lol so many comments already… lol… we (all of us, can see why)
Thank you Commodore, for this space for free thought, and for your insight brought to it.
Wow….
The accentuation of the contrast between leadership capability, so starkly illustrated, but more even than that, the sheer competence of the Russian leadership, overwhelming claim upon the moral high ground, aligned to the public myth in the so-called “west”. (while the Toadie Society completely ignore it, and seemingly may be blatantly transgressing it…. very telling, I think)
Okay, okay, you provoke so many questions.
A careful observer can see all of the pieces put into place over…. I’d say it must be actually quite a bit longer than two years….
But in this action, itself, Question 1:
I write this comment at approximately 11h50 EST.
I am on record, many times in the space, as indicating the unusually strong predictability of the so-called “West“; so we agree on this.
Trend would suggest hysteria.
Soon, we will have, especially from Her Majesty’s government, with the clown first minister, the sirens of condemnation will sound from the primary propaganda bureaus/main stream media, distributing the eerily similar talking points, especially the crash-test-dummy want-to-be secretary general of the pernicious “defense organization“, whose greatest skill may be in being one of the most irritating shill in known human history.
Instead of interpreting the events from the perspective of international law, and even the ostensible “missions of NATO (i.e. destroying Libya, Iraq, Syria, Yugoslavia, including mass murder….) to “liberate them” from their oppressive, murderous government leadership; you know the ones who, like, kill thousands of their own citizens, according to their numbers, etc.
So we know it’s going to be a cacophony of … noise, targeted at the emotionally intelligence enlightened majority of the west, according to the past two months of … perception-enhancement campaigning.
Obviously Russia is positioned to survive sanctions if not thrive, as per the past twenty years.
If the west cuts NS2, all that gas can be redirected to even closer strategic ally, who is quite happen to soak up the extremely highly reliable, disruption-resistant supply partner.
I assume the work-arounds to the SWIFT system must be ready to roll.
Since this self-inflicted wound to western Europe, to mollify the Fool’s Golden Mountain leadership, will have drastic, medium term degradation to the quality of life for the 97%, we can foresee increasing destabilization and social breakdown, above and beyond the trend of such across the past decade.
What I haven’t expressed yet, in these recent return to the dialogue is,
Russia really did wait to the last possible moment to come forward and draw the line, and refuse the insane hatred of humanity brought by the west!
What we have to hope for is that there still are non-zombified suasion still existing in the places of policy decisioning in the deepest, darkest swamp, for minus the nuclear (read: no one wins) scenario, the west is hopelessly inferior.
But we must remember with sobriety, an ideology utterly dedicated to win or burn all, doesn’t behave rationally.
They should however remember their grotesquely swollen financial holdings, and the drastic degradation that will certainly occur to their……precious!
This will likely spark power struggles in the governments of the west as the completely insane humanity-hating cult attack the current puppet toadies club from one side, and the poised champions of humanity are ignited, create substantial populist coordinations of people who, after the mandates of the past two years, i.e. the reset, and their blatant constitutional transgressions, on the other side.
Instability in the Wizard of Mountain of Fools Gold, and their All Toadies Rainbow Alphabet vassal wimps societies is the most likely outcome.
Escalations to make the entire west into a huge hatred echo-chamber is already starting (00h25 EST 2022.02.22)
So a new level of intensity of the information warfare against the 97% citizenry of the west is certain, and the ensuring thought-policing</I and right-speak enforcement, as we the shameless unclean (/unvaccinated with illegal experimental RNA therapy drugs), are now well acquainted.
Oh well.
Keep up the great work… until they come for us….
Ukraine was a bridge too far
Personally, I think that Putin’s bold actions would not have been taken without consultation ( and agreement of support ) with the Chinese President. The crisis over Ukraine will, incidentally, strengthen China’s hand, and I expect some greasy approaches to be made by the US to elicit Chinese support. I think China holds more cards than anyone.
It was quite hilarious listening to the puerile propaganda airwaves this morning. DLF (Deutschlandfunk) reported on China’s opinion at the UN, and framed it, as if they were solidly behind the West and criticizing Russia and Putin for their actions. Incredible! So soon after Xi and Putins meeting at the Olympics (less than 20 days ago), of course, and forgetting to mention that China said it would support Russia economically should the US (or the EU) impose any sort of crippling sanctions.
This is similar to the methods of atrocity literature at the economic level.
Perhaps Putin could suggest to Zelensky that he should get his a*se to Poland, or some distant rat hole, and an interim government can be setup in Ukraine, before elections.
Let the Ukrainian people decide, area by area, where their allegiances lie?
Otherwise Zelensky, and his fellow Ukro-nazis will be heading for their next incarnation.
The bill can then be sent to Victoria Nuland, as she seems to have deep pockets!
This is a return of service!
A truly emotional and historic day that I could help but feel pride watching the videos of the DNR & LNR Assemblies clapping with fireworks in the streets of liberated Donetsk.
Many longed for this day when Mother Russia would finally tell the West “Enough is Enough” and judging by the panic and abandonment of Kiev from the so-called elities, I hope the Peacekeeping mission allows the patriotic peoples of collective Donbass & Lugansk to rise up and seek Union with their brethren across the LOC as the UAF can’t be expected to risk any harsh reprisals know elite RUF are within shooting distance.
I pray for peace and cool heads as any miss calculation from the Ukronazi’s will only add to their suffering and ultimate destruction which will benefit the majority of Ukrainians and real peace and prosperity can return to the region. Something tells me though that the West isn’t finished yet but this time I strongly believe that Russia will react hard to show the world that it means business!!!
Outstanding work as always to the Saker and the Community and I look forward to reading the updates and excellent analysis that is synonymous with this site.
