Dear friends,
I am leaving for the week-end, so I want to leave you with something nice: a full concert of the Argentinian Jazz guitarist Luis Salinas who, in this concert, plays a lot of traditional Argentinian music. I hope that you will enjoy this as much as I did, and see you all on late Sunday evening.
Cheers
Andrei
I was just checking the site. What a nice substitution. I will give it a listen later. Regards.
For me, who am Argentine Luis Salinas is by far our Messi of the guitar.
It’s lovely that someone like Andrei can appreciate his talent and it makes me very proud.
I see Salinas as THE best Argentinian guitarist, way ahead of, say Cacho Tirao or even the likes of Eduardo Falu. Those two are also beasts in their own style, but Salinas is Da Man for me :-)
I see Salinas as the Argentinian Rafael Rabello, the top of the top.
and
I LOVE his folk-jazz mix.
The fact that he plays the same Godin guitar as I do also endears him to me.
Anyway, yes, Salinas is a true virtuoso and musical genius :-)
cheers
Andrei
PS: here are three artentinian videos I really love!

PPS: I will start posting some Sui Generis videos soon too :-)
also
here is my favorite Argentinian singer, Perdo Aznar, singing one of my favorite version of one of my favorite zambas:

Enjoy!
Sorry, Andrei, the way you said it sounds like Rafael Rabello is Argentinean. Argentina is almost always better than Brazil in anything, but in this case, Rafael Rabello is Brazilian. I know you know that, but for those who don’t know and can get confused, I clarify. Greetings
No, Rafael Rabello is, of course, a Brazilian guitar virtuoso.
And, no, I do not believe that Argentina is “almost always better than Brazil in anything”, sorry, for all my love for Argentina, that is not true. Even musically, Brazil is a superpower with fantastically talented people too.
Which is “better”? I don’t know or care.
I love them both, with a special warm place for Buenos-Aires in my heart.
Cheers
Good afternoon, greetings from Rio de Janeiro, I’d very much like to congratulate your always sober and sharp comments but this time U shot myself right in the coração: Rafael Rabelo was something awsome indeed and only those who have seen may guess. Cheers!
Rabelo was a real genius, and his life a terrible, terrible tragedy.
But he will never be forgotten, he truly was a true virtuoso and musical genius
At least imnsho :-)
Give my love to Rio, I miss that city and its people very much!!!
Andrei
don’t forget to listen to Brazilian musician Yamadu Costa. He was applauded and praised by Paco de Lucia. Yamadu Costa is also a genius and a must see!!!
Don’t forget female talent. Watch out for Badi Assad: The Brazilian Ronaldinho (or better Marta?) of the guitar….

What about the awesome Fernanda Abreu?
I love her voice and music
It reminds me of Rio very much!

P.S.: Another outstanding musician is my old friend Jaime Torres.

The first song is an arrangement inpired in “Alfonsina y el mar” by Ariel Ramirez . It is fine but I stick with the original.
Here with Mercedes Sosa as singer:

In the eighties I was building guitars and I had the occasion to meet with Atahualpa Yupanqui , Eduardo Falu and Jorge Cardoso , really fine rememberance for my soul.
This comingling of the musical arts and political activism reminds me of the 1960s and 70s.Thank you.
Watch videos of the great Jorge Falcon (1949-1987), if you like Tango.
Another virtuous Argentine guitarist that I recommend is “Walter Giardino” He is a neoclassical rock style and an excellent composer of lyrics and melodies. Rata Blanca band:
