What else can we call it when a publisher does what the New York Times did when it published the Pentagon Papers and was ruled by the Supreme Court in 1971 (New York Times Co. v. United States) to have been protected by the First Amendment, but the publisher this time has been kept for years in various types of imprisonment without trial, and by now has been so destroyed that, in this, his first court appearance to defend himself, he seems to have been drugged, but for whatever reason “When asked to give his name and date of birth, he struggled visibly over several seconds to recall both.” “It was a real struggle for him to articulate the words and focus his train of thought.” The event occurred on October 21st.
Here (with boldface being used by me only to highlight especially the names of the principal persons at the hearing) are more highlights from the account that was provided on October 22nd by the whistleblowing former UK Ambassador Craig Murray, under the headline “Assange in Court”:
“Having attended the trials in Uzbekistan of several victims of extreme torture, and having worked with survivors from Sierra Leone and elsewhere, I can tell you that yesterday changed my mind entirely and Julian exhibited exactly the symptoms of a torture victim brought blinking into the light, particularly in terms of disorientation, confusion, and the real struggle to assert free will through the fog of learned helplessness.”
“Everybody in that court yesterday saw that one of the greatest journalists and most important dissidents of our times is being tortured to death by the state, before our eyes. To see my friend, the most articulate man, the fastest thinker, I have ever known, reduced to that shambling and incoherent wreck, was unbearable. Yet the agents of the state, particularly the callous magistrate Vanessa Baraitser, were not just prepared but eager to be a part of this bloodsport.”
“The charge against Julian is very specific: conspiring with Chelsea Manning to publish the Iraq War logs, the Afghanistan war logs and the State Department cables.”
“The key points at issue were that Julian’s defence was requesting more time to prepare their evidence; and arguing that political offences were specifically excluded from the extradition treaty. There should, they argued, therefore be a preliminary hearing to determine whether the extradition treaty applied at all. The reasons given by Assange’s defence team for more time to prepare were both compelling and startling.”
“The evidence to the Spanish court also included a CIA plot to kidnap Assange, which went to the US authorities’ attitude to lawfulness in his case and the treatment he might expect in the United States. Julian’s team explained that the Spanish legal process was happening now and the evidence from it would be extremely important, but it might not be finished and thus the evidence not fully validated and available in time for the current proposed timetable for the Assange extradition hearings. For the prosecution, James Lewis QC [Queen’s Counsel] stated that the government strongly opposed any delay being given for the defence to prepare.”
“There were five representatives of the US government present.”
“Lewis actually told the judge he was ‘taking instructions from those behind’.”
“The US government was dictating its instructions to Lewis, who was relaying those instructions to Baraitser, who was ruling them as her legal decision.”
“Baraitser then capped it all by saying the February hearing will be held, not at the comparatively open and accessible Westminster Magistrates Court where we were, but at Belmarsh Magistrates Court, the grim high security facility used for preliminary legal processing of terrorists, attached to the maximum security prison where Assange is being held. There are only six seats for the public in even the largest court at Belmarsh, and the object is plainly to evade public scrutiny.”
“Assange’s defence team objected strenuously to the move to Belmarsh, in particular on the grounds that there are no conference rooms available there to consult their client.”
“Finally, Baraitser turned to Julian and ordered him to stand, and asked him if he had understood the proceedings. He replied in the negative, said that he could not think, and gave every appearance of disorientation. … He became increasingly confused and incoherent.”
“I have been both cataloguing and protesting for years the increasingly authoritarian powers of the UK state, but that the most gross abuse could be so open and undisguised is still a shock.”
“Unless Julian is released shortly he will be destroyed. If the state can do this, then who is next?”
There’s yet more that’s in Murray’s account which would shock any intelligent reader, but those excerpts constitute what I consider its main points.
As regards whether the U.S. Government is a dictatorship: there have, by now, even been some rigorous quantitative social-scientific analyses of that question, and all of the evidence points clearly to a “Yes” answer to it, concerning at least that particular Government.
We thus clearly have come to live in a totalitarian state: the U.S.-and-allied Deep State. To call this a ‘democracy’ is to insult that magnificent word. Some authentic revolutions have been sparked by tyrannies that aren’t as vile as this one.
The military-industrial complex (MIC) didn’t entirely control the U.S. Government back in 1971 when the MIC’s absolute right of censorship was rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court in the Pentagon Papers case; but, now, after 9/11, it finally does, and thus democracy has become totally eliminated in today’s America.

Today it’s Julian Assange being hideously martyred, tomorrow it could be you. The British justice(sic) system is showing bald-faced bias without even a shred of pretense, and just exactly who is orchestrating this bizarre spectacle is openly on display. If this dispicable kangaroo court procedes as it seems to be doing, how can a reasonably informed person not be outraged. The moral fabric of the current system is torn beyond repair.
And yet the compradore terrorist thugs in Hong Kong are always bleating on about ‘The Rule of Law’, as do their MSM presstitute propaganda comrades. THIS is the really existing ‘Rule of Lynch Law’.
Indeed, it’s almost guaranteed to be “you” in that it will be someone of you.
Historically as Empires collapse, they bring to the homeland the methods they perfected in building that empire. It’s happened before. it’s happening again now – they’re just dead on track to repeat without a shred of innovation or creativity, exactly what their despicable forebears down the Millenia have done, over and over.
First they invade, steal and destroy, becoming rich and huge in the process. Then they over extended, over spend, dilute their currency, and become ever more destructive and violent. Then their cowed ones’ start to rise up and reject them; their hollowed out heartland starts to collapse. Their money becomes worthless and as their self image of being “great” and “Empire” begins to collapse, they lose all sense of identity and become degenerate; collapsed in intelligence, learning, creativity and ethics they resemble the least of beasts and finally, they turn on each other.
Over and over and over. Now they’re doing it again.
Nothing to see here folks, just move along.
The point is that Assange never committed any crime on US territory, and the US has no legal right to demand extradition. Extradition can only be applied to individuals who stayed on the territory of the US, committed a crime and then fled.
Should the US succeed with it’s extradition demand, this means it can demand the extradition of any individual from any country whom it deems to have committed a crime against the US Government..
Unfortunately for Assange, Britain and the US are old Atlantist allies, doing their best to prevent the rise of any continental power. I fear that Britain will indeed extradite him, short of a miracle. What we have here are terror tactics, a warning for other journalists not to poke their noses into dirty government business.
Now imagine if this was happening in Russia. The Western media would be screaming about “lack” of democracy and human rights in the country, pointing their fingers at the “dictatorship” of Vladimir Putin. However, in this case double standards are acceptable.
Well, not true anymore. If you use the internet to extract data or accept data from the US you can be. This is like saying if the wind blew from the US to China and you breathed it, you’re now guilty.
Yes, even RT’s report on it from two days ago was appalling. They made it sound like he’d skipped bail on purpose after raping a Swedish woman…none of that happened…at the end of the 4 minutes is when RT lists the so called crimes…https://youtu.be/au4GhWu-TD0
RT is mostly rubbish, a sort of FoxNews simulacrum.
“The point is that Assange never committed any crime on US territory, and the US has no legal right to demand extradition. Extradition can only be applied to individuals who stayed on the territory of the US, committed a crime and then fled.

This practice is called American Extraterritorialism.
Or in plain language, the legal wing of the American Empire.
Indeed, the Americans increasingly treat all people on this planet as subjects of their empire, even if they are not US citizens.
This is a very disturbing development, as it effectively entails the American violation of the national sovereignty of potentially any nation that it targets in a given situation.
In effect, US Extraterrorialism is derived from broader ideas about Conditional Sovereignty and the Responsibility To Protect doctrine, where nations are only allowed sovereignty as tolerated by the self-styled International Community (which in practice means the Anglo-Americans, Europe, Japan, and their vassals).
The hegemon ruling with naked force, taking off the velvet gloves. Trump being stupid by not pardoning Assange. If Assange breaks and says it was the Russians, Trunp is screwed.
a great report from Eric – and Craig Murray. I wish that people wouldn’t always ask, if they can do this to Julian, who’s next ? Its such a selfish question…if they can do this to Julian then we must stop it…is what should be said really…not who’s next ? Julian is number 1 and 2 and 3 right now…
The question is HOW can this be stopped ?
I wish the delay would happen or that by some miracle Jeremy Corbyn could get elected before February.
If you can stop it, will you?
What is lil julian to you anyway?
p/s I am quite sure this is way way way above JC pay grade. maybe even the queen mother.
Corbyn could prevent Assanges deportation, there have been enough procedural errors and mistakes to prevent it on those grounds alone. The fact that a lowly magistrate is being asked to deal with this matter and the fact that there has been open bias shown in preference to the US should also be enough to put a hold on proceedings until the matter is looked into more closely. It is a great worry to me, the apparent ineffectiveness of Assanges defence team, I’m not sure if this is because of lack of experience or just overwhelming opposition from the judiciary against them. Hard to tell. They are certainly not being given adequate time to prepare his defence. It’s a black day for British law, yet again (as was the recent findings in favour of the Chagos Islanders completely ignored by the UK) sending a clear message that justice, a fair trial and access to good representation are simply no longer available if you live in the UK and don’t have access to vast sums of cash.
” It is a great worry to me, the apparent ineffectiveness of Assanges defence team,”
I have read some comments over at Craig Murrays’ own site that suggest that there is much that his attorneys could do that htey have not done.
I cannot judge, but I, too, worry thta his lawyers seem to be trying to win within a process that has been set up for them to lose, as opposed to doing all that they could potentially do to challenge the process on a number of points.
The most basic being that Assange’s health is obviously in a state where he is not capable of standing trial.
There are a lot of precedents for this argument.
But, I am not a lawyer. I don’t want to diss his attorneys. But I am pretty worried that they seem to be a bit intimidated. I am also amazed that no influential public figure in Britain has stepped up to blow the lid off this disgusting process. Like a royal.

I guess that the Swedish lackey government is outraged because Assange’s likely extradition will not be its accomplishment, despite a serious attempt to ’get’ Assange using an evidently trumped-up rape charge. Really, I wouldn’t be the slightest surprised if the very first thing the pathetic US vassals here would be aiming for in the illusory case Assange is granted clemency is tormenting him further with the prosecution of this ’rape’ nonsense.
Assange’s fate is indeed proof positive of the Empire’s terminal prolapse and the mental sickness it brings to the whole fabric of Western society. I am absolutely not belittling Assange’s contributions, but the fact is that the furious reactions to them tell us more about the Zionazis than about Assange’s discoveries, however incriminating the latter. I mean, the barbarous reality of Western imperialism can only escape the wilfully blind. The more concise details are not key to grasp the rotten, criminal insanity of the whole system and who the perpetrators are.
Bottom line: Assange has become a very true martyr, bringing imperialism’s downfall closer.
The contribution of the man-hating, feminazi, fanatics in Sweden, and their allies like the crazed with hatred feminazi maenads in the Guardian sewer, must not be forgotten. To be complicit in the Empire’s dirty work using FAKE charges of ‘rape’ is an insult to many, including the victims of real sexual violence.
This treatment of people is actually common place in the UK today. You people have repeatedly been warned about it but you have turned your backs on other whistle blowers because they don’t suit your (State approved) liberal views.
Melanie Shaw who blew the whistle on State organised child sex abuse by MPs sitting in the House of Commons has had 18 months in solitary confinement and her type one diabetes treatment withheld.
You people did nothing to help her. Now you complain about Assange who published the names of the entire membership of a legally constituted British nationalist party, you did not like, you now conveniently ignore.
Assange works for an Israeli group now out of favour with the Zionists that today run Israel, the US and the UK. The UK is no longer the master of its own destiny, thus you are pointing your finger at the wrong authority. But then you people only like the truth when it suits you! And now you are paying the price for your duplicity.
The Jewish run UK has always tortured its political prisoners, from SS Reichsfuhrer Himmler through various others to Assange. It is how our masters operate to quell dissent both within Israel and its empire.
You should have supported those persecuted and murdered by the State all those years ago that you turned your back on! Now they have come for you and there is no one left to help you because you did not help those persecuted all those years ago.
Assange helped to betray the British electorate…but you conveniently ignore this point…thousands of people were hounded out of their jobs and homes because he decided to betray Britons. They remember and have no sympathy for this traitor. But you have forgotten though now you may remember if you ever read this comment.
No true British patriot cares for Assange because he betrayed the British people. It is his own fault.
I do not understand what betrayal of the British people by Assange is alluded to here.

Hi Anonymous Katherine – the Internet is full of such enemies of Assange….I don’t understand it either – but in a hypothetical image – lets say Saker got taken into the same circumstances that Julian has been – how many on the Internet would do the same to Saker ? Yet as we all know – he is a great guy – and a voice to be reckoned with…
That Julian is part of some secret Israeli group that is out of favor with the Zionists – what nonsense – where did this get published ? – Its the first I’ve heard of this story but there are many many critics of Julian….
One of Julian’s biggest enemies is Christopher Black – the lawyer from eastern Canada – that guy and his following – never let up on Julian…
Finally – who are the people you like better ? The ones supporting Julian or the ones that are smearing his name ?
dear AW and all,
This appears to be a emotional event for you and you seems to feel it viscerally. That’s speaks of your humanity.
But, dear, the reality is quite different and that’s why that happened. That’s why you are here.
The beginning of wisdom is to call things by its right name.
When you call this world, their regime, as it is, you will see clearly there was never freedom or privacy or sovereignty. Then you will see there was never legal law or honest accounting/trade, EVER! And you will see there is no Human RIGHTS, EVER!!!
In the east, we see very clear that why we are less prone to dissolution.
If you can see, and/or have the courage to see?
In a less direct way, allow me to share my unfounded imagination to JNS post above,
(and I could be wrong about everything) —>
I beg to differ!
The hegemony is NOT ruling with naked force, they are desperate and choking. They are NOT taking off the velvet gloves. They are showing their hands – they know ‘ITS OVER’.
Trump is NOT stupid by not pardoning Assange. There was not charges against Assange (yet and most likely never will be). Assange will NOT break (this is not to say he won’t pass on while in the process or transit) and will NEVER say it was the Russians. Even if he does, unwillingly under drug influence or other alien tech control, Trump is NOT screwed. He just need to tweet like there is no tomorrow with other more exciting ‘news’ for a week or 2.
What Assange case here shows,
1) Nobody cares.
and/or
2) Nobody can do nothing.
and/or
3) Nobody knows the real deal and the whole deal to be able to make the call if he is a traitor or hero.
and/or
4) Those who can, won’t.
(if I may – why won’t they? above your paygrade – this white rabbit runs v.v.v.v.v.v deep into one too many bizzaro holes. They have let him off one to many times but he keep coming back w the finger thinking they can’t hurt him as a journo. He thinks journo is his life insurance policy while doing “spy work”.
But the god father has a business to run. And yes, if the god father closed down the business today, 330mil lives will be at the alter or auction market instantly today. So don’t be quick to damn those who kept you intact till today (while profiting on the side).
***Will you NOT sell lil jul for a price to save yourself, your family and your turf? After all haven’t you been using the fed’s money and some even got filthy rich while the rest of the world was attacked by that instrument, suffered and died. Same same. As with the 4 points above, you probably claim you can do nothing.)
Most are reacting out of fear – that is, if that can happen to him, that can happen to you.
Maybe maybe NOT.
You or most don’t hold that kind of price on the market place. You are likely safe.
After all, if it becomes too common, then mostly likely, we get used to it anyway.
And talking here don’t help Assange. They don’t care about your rant or voice.
Wanna save lil julian? Try something else.
P/s btw grown man don’t need Qute. Nobody is coming to save you.
P/s dumb boys I am watching…
Pls do be safe, AW and all and if you are willing, take courage, try something else :)
thanks for comment – very wise in a modern (or maybe not so modern) Eastern way….here in the West – we are more – MUCH more simple minded…and we think Jeremy Corbyn could get Julian out.
btw – God won’t save the Queen I mean the Christ –
The MI6 organ the Guardian and the spook Luke Harding have not yet corrected the record or apologised for their entirely invented story that Paul Manafort visited Assange in the Embassy, but what else would you expect from such pond-life.
“what nonsense – where did this get published ?” – I just refer you to New Eastern Outlok, search for ‘A study of Julian’ and you will start seeing all but trivialities in J. Assange’s curriculum.
And I thought that Alf Garnett was dead.
Mulga… My complete contempt for the putrefyed scum presstitutes is…. incandescent, to use a word John Pilger used. And for all these Fake socialist groups, like Socialist Alternative, who have said Nothing – Not a word on this Stalinesque trial of Assange. In their drunken identity politics world, Julian Assange doesn’t even exist. They think he’s a rapist. How warped. Almost nothing on Australian ‘media’ including Independent Australia site. What a bunch of cowardly lowlife in Aussie.
Actually, the historical record of the trials under Stalin is that those brought to trial really did do criminal acts if you consider sabotaging equipment or creating conspiracies to bring down the State a criminal offense, especially when done in coordination with foreign powers.
See https://redstarpublishers.org/GreatConspiracy.pdf
pages 244 and following. The book was written by two Americans in 1946. This was before the Cold War really kicked into high gear.
Yep-the way that ‘Leftist’ invertebrates run and cower whenever some crazed feminazi Harpie shrieks ‘Rape!’ is despicable. The manner in which an ENTIRELY false charge brings instant vilification, abuse, judgment, verdict (guilty, of course) and sentence, in this case torture and indefinite imprisonment, plus more abuse and gloating from truly vile scum like the Guardian feminazis (who were singing Assange’s praises not long before)is a real lesson in moral and intellectual squalor. Just what is required to be a Western presstitute. It EXACTLY mirrors the lynching of Corbyn by way of a welter of UTTERLY fraudulent accusations of ‘antisemitism’, without the house arrest, torture and imprisonment-yet. And this abomination was also led by feminazi maenads at the Guardian, and shrieking banshees like Hodge et al.
And, as I’ve said here before, this totally fraudulent charge of rape, and its vicious repetition, is a real insult to the victims of actual sexual assault. The feminazis care more for their service to power, and apparent hatred of all men, than they do for real victims, despite their hypocritical and mendacious denials.
What everyone is missing is that Assange works to embarass the CIA, on behalf of the Pentagon-NSA.
Operation Snowden is the CIA response, to counter and embarass the NSA.
All your hopes and dreams are coopted – for privacy and fredom especially, by two enormous crime gangs fighting not for your liberty but for top dog status in the Big Brother Sweepstakes.
All of the contradictions sorrounding these competing and complimentary figures are explained by this understanding.
Snowden = CIA
Assange = NSA
I don’t usually recommend polpular movies but if you’ve seen the relatively recent ‘Spectre’ film of the 007 genre then you’ll get a relarively good idea of who is fighting whom, from the Zionist perspective of course, since the CIA/MI6 are responsible for cultural control and specifically for most of the content you consume from Hollywood and/or mainstream media in general.
Zedd: can you provide us with the evidence that Julian Assange works for the Pentagon? Just out of curiosity, was one of your sources of info Veterans Today?
Interview with John Pilger. He calls it a showtrial from the 1950’s. Its is heart breaking.

For some interesting background on the culture and antics of those usual suspects giving “instructions from [ ] behind” please check out Joe Rogan’s recent 3-hour interview with Edward Snowden.
Long and a lot of “me” noise, but with some insights into the culture and attitudes of these criminals@work allegedly in our names.
http://podcasts.joerogan.net/podcasts/edward-snowden
I’m less than impressed with Snowden’s attitude — including towards his host, the Russian government who could (and now probably should) fly him back to Base in the USA to face the music he says he’s quite happy to do (yeah, right!) if only the said Act they use prohibits him stating why he did it in court as evidence etc.
Although that segment (towards the end) was for me the more insightful, I found the ingratitude and largely dismissive and critical attitude to his current hosts (Russian government) to speak volumes about the arrogance of the American culture and attitudes in general — obviously many exceptions exist but listening in from the outsider’s perspective (I’m not American and not in the USA, although camped on the fringes of the empire) Rogan and Snowden’s insider’s fireside chat spoke volumes about the culture).
Nothing said about Assange or manning! No critique on the official “9/11” narrative which Snowden mentions briefly from a contract employee’s perspective. Just Snowden touting his book. And we can be sure that the 4-5 courtly string-pullers behind the now degenerated 3rd-world legal system in now what Orwell pointedly called “Airstrip One” in his “1984” novel are likely old buddies of Snowden — as would be the CIA players in the Spanish affair of bugging the Ecuadorian embassy in London. I personally am ambivalent about Snowden. I stated the interview with somewhat negative and skeptical views on his ‘dash for freedom’ behind the olde Iron Curtain.
I ended being a little more neutral towards Snowden by the end of the 3 hours but I am still out with the jury on whether he is a plant or not. Perhaps he does not even know himself?
Bottom line for me: WTF does it matter if he can, or cannot, ‘ bleat’ in a rigged court in an increasingly rigged country about his big “Why!” — we all know it — and now his book is out it is in the historical account. So, I suggest he stop sponging off the Russian government that he so dismisses — that has just managed to free Syria from the 3-letter Blob that he ‘ used’ to work for — and get on a plane back to good olde USA “Freedom Central” and dance the tune that many others — and soon Australia’s Assange it seems — are doing. My guess, he won’t (and I would not either): but in true American style he’ll keep wiping his dirty intel-boots on Putin’s welcome mat while pandering to the American domestic anti-Russian memes du jour.
The behaviour of that brit judge shows the sort of pathetic level of servitude the uk has been reduced to in regard to its former colony.
All the ‘judges’ ie judicial lynch-masters, selected to hear Assange’s arraignments have been arrogant and vicious ruling class swine. Arbuthnot, in particular, behaved like a viper.
WikiLeaks reveals documents blasting OPCW conclusions on Syria’s Douma chemical attack
https://tass.com/world/1084800
“The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) investigation of the alleged chemical attack in the Syrian town of Douma on April 7, 2018 was carried out using unacceptable methods aimed at fitting the predetermined conclusions into the report, a special independent panel released a statement following its meeting with an OPCW investigation team member. The experts’ findings were published by WikiLeaks on Wednesday.
“Based on the whistleblower’s extensive presentation, including internal emails, text exchanges and suppressed draft reports, we are unanimous in expressing our alarm over unacceptable practices in the investigation of the alleged chemical attack in Douma,” the experts pointed out. “We became convinced by the testimony that key information about chemical analyses, toxicology consultations, ballistics studies, and witness testimonies was suppressed, ostensibly to favor a preordained conclusion.”
Moreover, the experts learnt of “disquieting efforts to exclude some inspectors from the investigation whilst thwarting their attempts to raise legitimate concerns, highlight irregular practices or even to express their differing observations and assessments”
In contrast to Assange, the journalist publisher of the Truth, you have the Western fakestream presstitutes that turned on him like a pack of mongrel dogs. Just now I listened to an aged Sabbat Goy propagandist end a story on Lebanon with a hate spew directed at Nasrallah, the real target of this Colour Revolution. Then the aged imbecile had one of the ABC’s interminable parade of Sinophobic hate pieces, with two anti-Chinese, one a compradore, defending Taiwan against the Evil PRC and CCP. No attempt, as ever in the Free Press. to provide a Chinese voice, or any semblance of ‘balance’. Same old, same old-lies, hypocrisy, arrogance and groveling service to power.
Stalin would have been proud of Vanessa Baraitser. I read Craig Murray’s heart wrenching account this morning, and already commented elsewhere, but you’re right Eric – There is no genuine democracy. Its all a confected, fake sham. A Punch & Judy Show for adults. I havn’t voted for over 20 years. It took me a while to wake up.
The inhumane torture of Julian Assange shows the true face of the Fascists ruling us.
Where are all those alleged progressives and socialists? All those ‘social justice warriors’? Complete silence.
I checked the Facebook pages of Socialist Alternative, Socialist Alliance and Victoria Socialists here in Australia. All fully pickled by, and drowned in Identity Politics.
Not one single word about this farcical show trial. Zero. None of them even mentioned the name Julian Assange. Yet they had lots of coverage of Trump jettisoning the Kurds, and Extinction Rebellion.
And so many ignore what is going on. They are wilfully deaf, dumb and blind. As long as they have their little trinkets, and trips to Tuscany or Paris, or a new car, or a new lifestyle – when they get bored with the current ‘lifestyle’.
Remember Pastor Niemoller….
Punishing Assange sends ‘we will get you’ warning to other journalists, Roger Waters tells RT
https://www.rt.com/news/471834-roger-waters-assange-interview/
Those persecuting Assange are “applying the heaviest possible penalty they can on him for stepping out of line and doing his job as a journalist,” Waters told RT’s Afshin Rattansi on his show Going Underground.
“They’re clearly trying as hard as they can to kill him… Julian Assange is becoming a warning to other journalists that if you tell the truth – particularly to power – ‘we will get you.’”
Watch the full interview with Roger Waters on RT this Saturday.”
Orwell & Huxley were BOTH right, Roger Waters tells RT
https://www.rt.com/news/471936-julian-assange-orwell-huxley-waters/
“Orwell and Huxley were always arguing about who had the closest view of what dystopia might look like in the future,” said Waters, adding “I think we got a lot of both.”
“We have the ‘Big Brother’ Orwellian dystopian nightmare, it happened two days ago in that magistrate’s court,” he explained, referring to a UK judge’s decision on Monday to deny the WikiLeaks founder a delay in US extradition proceedings.
The world described by George Orwell in ‘1984’ was one of mass surveillance and paranoia, where anyone could be snatched off the street by the state and made disappear for ‘wrongthink’. In ‘Brave New World’ Aldous Huxley, on the other hand, described a future where mass entertainment and the easy availability of pleasure-giving drugs made dissent virtually impossible.
“You only have to look out in the street and see the people, the walking dead going by… and taking absolutely no notice of the fact that this journalist is being murdered by our government,” Waters said, referring to the treatment of Assange in Belmarsh Prison, said by the UN to amount to torture.
Together with veteran journalist John Pilger, the Pink Floyd frontman hosted a rally for Assange in front of the British Home Office in September, that went unreported by every single British newspaper.
“And we walk by with our earbuds in… clicking away on our iPhones as we walk unthinking, unfeeling, uncaring through our lives, and allow this bullshit to take place in our names, in our courts,” Waters concluded.”
Sorry to need say it, but I really don´t understand how come that the most important thread that connect the dots is just simlply ignored?
Karimova was not jailed because she could not be bribed as the presidents daughter and Julian Assange is London because of Anna Ardin. The central nerve system of a country is it´s telecominfrastructure // World Bank 1972
Maybe it is because of that common impression of Sweden as such a small country and of no significance on the geopolitical scene….
