Dear friends,
I have a few IT questions I would like to submit to you. Please keep in mind that I only use GNU/Linux, never Windows or iStuff. Here are my questions:
First, is there a way to quickly obtain the embed code for a video posted on Telegram?
Just to clarify, I do NOT want to embed an entire channel or even a single post. I want to be able to QUICKLY (time is always critical) find the embed code for a video posted on Telegram and then I want to repost it here, on the blog (which – FYI – runs on WordPress).
Frankly, YouTube is becoming useless and, besides, I hate their guts.
Even other video hosting services are canceling, banning, demonetizing and God only knows what else to limit the information coming out of the Ukraine. Telegram is, so far, not censored and all the “good action” is on Telegram. There are TONS of videos on Telegram which would never ever make it to YT – so why bother?
Telegram is, for the time being, THE solution, and I need quick access to their videos.
Is there something like this available out there?
If not, I would argue that to create a special page for Telegram (similar to this one for BitChute https://embed.tube/embed-code-generator/bitchute/) ought to be a top priority for all software developers who oppose the censorship of the Empire of Lies! (add some ads to that page, if you like that, and you can even make some money from this service!)
Next, I know plenty of ways to download YouTube videos (I prefer to use youtube-dl from the CLI in Linux), but I need a way to download a video from YouTube while hard burning the subs into it. Is there a quick way to do that?
Can you suggest a good solution for these two needs (especially the top one!)?
Thanks
Andrei
I don’t know about the code but I can tell you that you can go to Gab.com and post any legally protected 1A speech there, video clips, links, etc. Gab gets a bad rap because they allow ANYONE to post legally protected 1A speech – which includes some “Nazis” and some other weirdos. However, that is a minority of users and easily blocked within the platform if you don’t want to engage with them. And traffic to the site has increased significantly over the past year precisely because of censorship
Gab also has a video hosting platform, GabTV.
Not sure if it suits your needs, but worth checking out if you need a place to put out links, etc.
Another vote for Gab. I’m not touching Guulag (and have their scripts blocked on any site other than censortube, so i won’t even see embedded vids). And i’m not touching botchute either, since i consider it a CIA-op.
Rumble might not be ideal for highly controversial material. So my vote is either Gab or Odysee
Telegram is harder to access than youtube. For some videos, you have to download telegram and after downloading it there can be complications that I read about and which I am facing. They say that they will send the code to one of the “activated devices” (they don’t say to your phone). No idea where it is.
tranquilocomp: with a VPN you should have no troubles connecting to Telegram and they are not very expensive, somewhere around $127/3yrs, if you hurry. Once the dollar collapses you may have to pay in Gold or Rubles. You can also search free proxies but they are NOT secure.
https://earthweb.com/telegram-proxies/
https://nordvpn.com/pricing/
I can connect with no problems
its DOWNLOADING VIDEOS which I struggle with
Same here. Telegram insists on providing my cellphone # which I am not going to do. I’m trying to get telegram messages on my desktop monitor.
David Parker: Telegram Desktop is great but these types of messengers can only be used with a phone number. Get a burner phone.
I don’t think there is an embed code option in Telegram. But (at least on Android) you can quickly save a Telegram video mp4 file to your phone’s Gallery app. Just double tap on the video in Telegram > Three dots menu (top right) > select ‘Save to gallery’. Then open your Gallery app, refresh it, and find the video mp4 file.
Alternatively, there is a Share option under the same three dots menu where you can share it with e.g. WhatsApp. Then find the video file in the phone WhatsApp media folder.
Then upload the mp4 file to an online video display site of your choice (Rumble, Bitchute, GAB etc). Then you can grab the embed code from yourt chosen video site to paste on your site.
Also check out the decentralised peer2peer video site called LBRY (https://lbry.com/get).
The Saker: it’s a slow download or they won’t download at all? The only problem I have is with Telegram calls. People always complain about the audio. When I call them with Whatsapp there is never such a problem.
>Have Telegram on your phone
>Download Telegram on your computer
>sync them.
>download is now as easy as just right-click and clicking “save as”
I started using telegram in earnest the moment the censorship hammer came down in earnest, and it has worked very well. I also started downloading videos on both my laptop and my phone so that I wouldn’t lose them, and the only issue was storage space on my end.
For subtitles:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/59303838/how-to-burn-hardcode-subtitle-to-the-downloaded-youtube-video-with-youtube-dl
thank you!
Re Youtube subtitles, a way that is not ideal (no “burn subs into video while downloading”) but at least provides a solution: 1) download the subtitles with help of some browser addon — searching “youtube download subtitles” returned several available addons, I don’t know which one is good; 2) put subs into video with ffmpeg as described here: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/HowToBurnSubtitlesIntoVideo . This would require working on the command line, though; nothing fancy at all (it’s just “ffmpeg -i video.avi -vf subtitles=subtitle.srt out.avi”), but You would need to have a basic understanding of command line work.
Per below. This is great for personal archiving.
But since it would be illegal to distribute such a video further, it is useless for the purpose here.
Telegram offers a post widget
https://core.telegram.org/widgets/post
I tested it and it also embeds videos.
Put your “link to public post” into the field and generate a code.
I did not implement that myself anywhere (yet), but i might do it soo on my own website…. so i can’t promise that it actually works well.
This looks to be a winner ^^
If you are adding subtitles, the video will need to be uploaded to telegram anyway and making the post public will be under your control.
You will only need the channel name + post number (easily obtained from the post’s link – ie https://t.me/The_Saker/4401 and the “data-telegram-post” part in the embed link becomes:
data-telegram-post=”The_Saker/4401″
within the embed link
Where in Telegram do I install this widget and where do I get it from?
For TG videos.
¿ Maybe this ?
https://github.com/Dineshkarthik/telegram_media_downloader
I will check that tomorrow, thank you!
Telegram is a walled garden. Because of principle i do not use it , rumble is better. Web should remain open Saker.
I agree with Neko. Much prefer Rumble over Telegram.
which is all fine
but the info I need is on Telegram
not elsewhere
I would argue that WhatsApp is the walled garden. There so much we can do to interact with Telegram via its API and using bots. It’s ridiculously easy to connect any web app to it, connect automated systems, sensors and any kind of machinery that connects to the internet…
And all the public channels that is has, everybody eager to join the revolution is on Telegram.
Alexander Durin, The Saker, Pepe Escobar, George Galloway, Gonzalo Lira, Xoaquin Flores, that place is on fire.
Beware that the Nazi deamons are all over there too… take Brazil’s example, Jair Bolsonaro has 1.3 million followers, while Lula has meager 50 thousand. So, yeah, we need to overcome this dark tendency.
So, how do I connect to Telegram with my desktop running Linux without giving up my cell phone number?
Have you tried buying a burner phone? Use it to install Telegram and then switch it off.
https://sms-activate.org/en/freeNumbers
use this, the codes are public, but so what, once used, it expires
Not possible.
Telegram works with a google voice number. To set up or maintain the acct you may need a sim card phone, but you the account can be soley mapped to the google voice number. I have several Telegram accts like this.
Yes WhatsApp, Matrix, Signal ,Telegram, etc all walled gardens. You can not access full functionality with standard web browser and most of them want phone numbers for verification of account , Which is a no no for animosity.
Telegram is where the shit is happening ATM tho. It’s a twitter replacement and from what I understand there is nearly no censorship at all.
I live in the Netherlands and can’t access the RT channels because they have been legally blocked.
RT can be watched via Rumble or their own app if you have it installed already on phone.
RT and Sputnik Telegram channels are both currently banned in UK because they ‘violated local laws’.
Same here in The Neth.
“Even other video hosting services are canceling, banning, demonetizing and God only knows what else to limit the information coming out of the Ukraine”
I wonder to what extent this censorship is coordinated, e.g. is there some White House / State Dept / NSA working group which “works with” the censors at social media sites, “advising” them what to block next?
Is this helpfull?
I’ve not tried.
Convert A File For Telegram:
https://webservice.online-convert.com/convert-for-telegram
nope
that makes videos compatible with Telegram
that does not allow me to download it
I have Linux and Telegram desktop. Right click on the video and you get the choice of downloading (save as) forward (inside Telegram) and copy link.
Hope that helps
To download YT subtitles I use this page:
https://downsub.com/
I don’t know about any page that produces hard subs on the fly while downloading from YT.
Nevertheless, a quick and dirty solution could be to capture your desktop while reproducing YT fullscreen with subtitles on. There are many programs that do this. I usually use VLC (there are many tutorials on the Web on how to do that).
OTH, if you plan to upload the subtitled video to Bitchute, Odysee or whatever, you can upload video and subtitles separately and the site will mix them for your viewers.
Hey, I found Telegram downloads the videos and images to a folder named Telegram on the main storage of my android phone.
yes, some of them are downloading
others not
I will make sure to search all my subdirectories
thank you!
Telegram has an API. Here is an example from Telegram themselves about writing a PHP script to fetch files.
https://core.telegram.org/bots/samples/hellobot
https://core.telegram.org/bots/api#getfile
One option you have is to fetch the file via the API, then host it on WordPress.
That would probably be too hard on your server. I might take the file and upload it to some kind of video hosting, at which point you embed it on your pages.
The telegram API also limits downloads to 20 MB for bots. So if the average video file on there is larger than that (I have no idea), you might use the getFile method to prepare a download link for you, at which point you can use a non-bot means (a browser script, or your own hands, in other words any type of interaction with Telegram that does not involve using the bot auth token) to grab the file, then upload it to a video host, whether that is your own server or somebody else’s
Hi Saker. I am a reader from an “unfriendly” former Yugoslav country, a sad state of affairs, by my account, thanks to our “brilliant” and totally corrupt leadership.
Also I am exclusive Linux user and plus I like to present my self as a web developer, because working for 10 years on the matter, entitles me to that right I think :).
Anyways, onto the subject
Your first request is kinda tricky, but not impossible.
I did a short survey on how telegram presents things and so far found three possibilities
1. Some videos are impossible to embed
2. You want to embed the entire telegram post
3. You want to embed just the video
Let me explain.
You can copy the link of a whole Telegram channel (for example I will take colonel Cassad https://t.me/s/boris_rozhin) and paste it to a browser of your choice (Firefox, Yandex, Edge, Chrome). The browser initially may ask you to open it in telegram desktop, just disregard that and the channel will be previewed in a browser tab.
1. After the channel is loaded you can notice that some videos can be played while others not. With the later there is nothing that can be done short of downloading them and upload/embedding them in your web site.
But with the others there are two possibilities
2. When you click on post (if there there is no post link present, just write click on the video and copy/paste its link to a new tab), it will open in a new tab. There you are presented with embed option which gives you a way to embed the full post on your web site via copy/pasting the script that is generated
3. Second option is a bit trickier. Right/click inspect on the video, and navigate to the video tag in the html inspector, copy the video source and than do what you want with it in your web page. You can put it in a tag.
For example :
My perspective is, there are two types of telegram videos. One can be viewed in a browser, albeit in the “default” (small resolution) — these are call the “anonymously viewable.” For those, yt-dlp has video extraction code, and mpv can play them transparently by the t.me/channel/number link
The other (more common) type *cannot* be viewed in a browser, but instead one needs to view the from within the telegram app. Now, here’s the rub — one *cannot* start the app unless they sign in with a telegram account, and here’s the bigger rub — one *cannot* create a telegram account without providing a *valid phone number* (which in most countries is tied to full personal physical positive identification). These I call “non anonymously-viewable” type.
.
That is, telegram is about as anonymous as bitcoin — all transactions are recorded forever, with positive identification, in Pavel Durov’s personal database of freedom fighters and their friedns and family circle.
Even worse, Pavel Durov prohibits even some purely text messages from being anonymously read — for example — go figure why that particular restriction — the channel of the Russian MoD is *prohibited* (by Pavel Durov) from anonymous perusal. That is, http://t.me/s/mod_russia_en does *not* work in a browser, while, say, http://t.me/s/vrogov works
That is to say, it might be *principally impossible* to embed a link to the second type videos, short of somehow extracting them with a valid telegram account and re-posting them on a different service, which most probably would violate the user agreement.
That is to also say, people should waken up to that fact that telegram is the same old sham, and some other truly useful service should be a priority for the freedom-minded developers community
I have had my doubts about Telegram for a while. Do not know to whom they sell out.
I would like to promote Jami, which is really decentralized, but still has the weakness of using IP addresses as ID. In the pipeline is Iris, based on GUN db. they try to solve the IP issue. But for now use Jami (all platforms). Count on shifting a few times in the future. And keep away from Signal, same shit as WA
I had the same problem with Telegram, after a while I found out that it is very easy. I am using a Mac, but I suppose that it is almost the same on Linux.
Install the Telegram Desktop App.
Then search for the chat channel of which you want to copy an item.
When you seen the required item (video or pic) open it so you get a the full screen. There at the bottom right is a downwards arrow, press it and the item is downloaded.
For the text or the link: right click -> Copy Message Link
e.g. https://t.me/neuesausrussland/3282
Looks like I screwed-up in posting a suggestion.
Tried this and it worked.
On Telegram, select the appropriate channel-> sélect the video(tried a video on YT)->Click on the video->on YT, Click on the video->sélect “share”->sent to my email address->in my email,copy/paste link un Oracle -> un Oracle, right-click on video-> sélect “copy embed code” ->copy code in New Word doc : it Works.
This works, for example:
$ youtube-dl –all-subs -o video https://www.youtube.com/watch\?v\=nJ7QB3om-QY
$ ffmpeg -i video.mp4 -vf subtitles=video.en-US.vtt subtitled.mp4
perfect, thank you!!

Dismissal from VK
On 1 April 2014, Durov submitted his resignation to the board; at first, due to the fact the company confirmed he had resigned, it was believed to be related to the Russo-Ukrainian War which had started in February.[21] However, Durov himself claimed it was an April Fool’s Joke on 3 April 2014.[22][23]
On 16 April 2014, Durov publicly refused to hand over data of Ukrainian protesters to Russia’s security agencies and block Alexei Navalny’s page on VK.[4] Instead, he posted the relevant orders on his own VK page,[24][25] claiming that the requests were unlawful.
On 21 April 2014, Durov was dismissed as CEO of VK. The company claimed it was acting on his letter of resignation a month earlier that he failed to recall.[4][26] Durov then claimed the company had been effectively taken over by Vladimir Putin’s allies,[26][27] suggesting his ouster was the result of both his refusal to hand over personal details of users to federal law enforcement and his refusal to hand over the personal details of people who were members of a VK group dedicated to the Euromaidan protest movement.[26][27] Durov then left Russia and stated that he had “no plans to go back”[27] and that “the country is incompatible with Internet business at the moment”.[4]
Telegram
Upon leaving Russia, he obtained Saint Kitts and Nevis citizenship through donating $250,000 to the country’s Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation, and secured $300 million in cash within Swiss banks. This allowed him to focus on creating his next company, Telegram, focused on an encrypted messaging service of the same name. Telegram was headquartered in Berlin and later moved to Dubai.[6] Some time later, in a bid to monetize the growing success of Telegram, Durov launched the “Gram” cryptocurrency and the TON platform, raising a $1.7 billion startup with investors including the widow of Steve Jobs, Laurene Powell Jobs. However, these ventures were halted by American regulator SEC which argued in courts that Grams bypassed U.S. financing laws and should return the money to its investors.[citation needed]
In 2018, Russia attempted to block Telegram, ostensibly after the company refused to cooperate with Russian security services. A leaked letter by an FSB RF employee stated that the block was actually tied to the company’s intention to launch its own Telegram Open Network.[28] During the attempted block period, the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry continued to operate official channels on the app. The block order was lifted in 2020, after two years of block attempts, which the service reportedly evaded using domain fronting. The stated reason was Telegram agreeing to “counter terrorism and extremism” on the platform.[29][30][31][32]
Joe, I do not want to marry Pavel Durov.
I want to use Telegram because of its CONTENTS, not its creator, see the difference?
The Telegram client is fully free software and open source, Richard Stallman personally confirmed that to me.
So all your Davos-nightmares are offtopic and don’t help me one bit.
And that it is almost totally cut-n-paste makes it even worse.
so please don’t comment unless you read the question/post and thought about it for a while
ok?
thank you!
Andei, you’ve probably heard that — to the extent of your measure of understanding, you work for yourself, and to the extent of your measure of non-understanding, you work for he whose measure of understanding is superior.
I am not saying that we should not take a ride on Baba Yaga’s broom — probably one can do it, from time to time, with some amount of caution, and/or superior understanding, and/or luck (a.k.a. divine protection). I was saying that Pavel Durov knows what game we are playing but we *don’t* know what game he/his-handlers are playing — setting the stage of us being used blindly for who-knows-what purpose
I was also saying that, for me — and many/most may not give a hoot about that, but *for me personally* — I will not get a telegram account just to watch (Pavel Durov watching me watch) a video
And a small remark — telegram’s *code* may or may not be be open-source, but telegram’s *service* is certainly not
Exactly the same way as the pen that you sign the loan documents with is low-cost, but the consequences of using said low-cost pen are anything but
Other than that, I love your site, and truly appreciate your effort to bring enlightment to the busurmanian-speaking world (a.k.a. Zone-A population)
Friend, are you tone deaf?
Without telegram these last weeks since the start of sanctions and the total blackout of Russian information, we would have been up the creek without a paddle.
At this moment it works. Tomorrow perhaps it doesnt, but for today, the Russian Defense Briefings, All the Foreign Office Briefings and 99% of the Ukrainian war comes through telegram.
Thank you, Pavel! You might be a dog but today you are our dog!
yes, but the service does not impact the actual messages, so said RMS himself to me in a recent email.
and
besides
that is the killer: all the info I need is there, not elsewhere
I need that info :-(
havn’t heard the usage of RMS in a long time, and that too here. pleasant surprise!
Telegram is censoring already
Not on a big scale but it does
So who knows what Schwabs Student will come up with in the future….
I wouldn’t bet my future on Telegram
I use it too but won’t ever trust them
Installing it on your phone makes you trackable/traceable. Unfortunately no “free” tech platform can be trusted these days.
https://webwut.com/telegram-track-location/
I never suggested “trusting” Telegram or, even less so, “bet my future”
I bet my future on God alone
and people I truly trust are very, very few.
and yet
I NEED that Telegram info. Like YESTERDAY.
that is my only need.
If I could get those videos without Telegram, believe me, I would…
Hello, Saker.
I have no problem downloading TG videos with the Firefox “video downloadhelper” extension.
I think it is also possible with other browsers.
I just use the official embedded code from Telegram widget on my blogs https://core.telegram.org/widgets/post , but I guess you won’t like the size limit.
From Telegram (desktop) a video download is easy .. click on the video in telegram until full screen appears, download with the download arrow at the bottom. Go to your usual Linux downloads folder and the Telegram downloads folder is in there.
Then, you have to re-upload to some video feed or service.
I’ve just been rightclicking on the post and copying the post link, but yes .. boring.
yep … however !!! it is entirely possible that this (re-posting someone else’s video) would violate the telegram user agreement, and also various copyright laws
Certainly not the telegram ToS.
that is why reposting should be done on BitChute, not YouTube.
Oh man this is genius. Never noticed that button. Download in a telegram subfolder tho (in case you don’t find it)
Andrei – You can simply record the video with the app “Simple Screen Recorder” (a Linux app you install). It works great, as I’ve recorded some videos of (copyright-free) hymns. Basically you just pick the rectangle of the screen area you want to record, and it gets all sound and video, just like the original. Hope this helps. – A Thankful Friend
– Install Telegram Desktop for Linux
– Right click on video, select “Copy Post Link”, example: https://t.me/agentgosdepa1/7632
– Open the link, you will see the video with some extra stuff on the page. At the bottom, you will see “Embed”, click that and then copy, that the embed html that you can now paste to any web page.
Further to the most excellent suggestions already posted, I’m pretty sure you can view just about anything with VLC under Linux and can also export in your choice of formats.
I will try VLC, good idea,
It is not my to-go video app, but I know that is is massively powerful
thanks for the advice!
I suggest you add an extension called “save from net” which let’s you download YouTube videos. I use it on Firefox and works fine.
Thanks!
youtube-dl and its firefox plugin for some reason completely stopped working for me recently, and your suggestion seems –for now– to work.
You can download the video/photo and upload that way. I do not think telegram has embedding BUT southfront publishes videos that appear to be embedded???
I think that they have their own embedding server, which is very convenient, but easy to shut down…
1. I use youtube-to-mp3 for downloading either voice only mp3 files from youtube videos or the entire video. If you use archlinux then you can do yay youtube to mp3 from the terminal and it will show up as one of the options. If you use Ubuntu or Debian derivatives then you can go to mediahuman.com and download it from there. It’s a really great application.
2. In telegram just right click the video and it will be saved as an mp4 file on your desktop
You can use the web page version of telegram then a chrome extension that download vids to get those. Then post them wherever you want.
Have you read this?
https://www.voltairenet.org/article216081.html
“China has captured the NOPEN, one of the key cyperwarfare tools used by the National Security Agency (NSA). It is the most sophisticated Trojan in the world. It has enabled the United States to spy on targets (governments and large companies) in 47 different countries over the past ten years.
The NOPEN Trojan is a remote control software for Unix/Linux operating systems primarily used for stealing files, destroy or even modify them without leaving a trace.”
I run Linux and have not been bothered by viruses or malware that I can detect anyway. This looks sinister. How does it install on a Linux platform?
It is reported to have been discovered by artificial intelligence assisted mechanism – i guess a form of pattern recognition. Innovation is the only way to defeat your opponent.
I believe the NOPEN program runs on the NSA’s Linux computers (they use Pop!_OS Linux by the way) but the Trojan runs on any platform with a compromised UEFI “BIOS” (which is actually a full operating system). The System76 machines that are popular with three letter USA spook agencies have an open source UEFI and clean firmware that allegedly can keep the Chinese out.
It is very hard to keep both the Americans and Chinese out of your computing systems. As for the Russians, who knows?
Hi.
I prefer using yt-dlp, fork of youtube-dl.
Thre is –embed-subs option that adds subtitle into the video, I am just not sure if it will just add it into video file or type in on top of video. If it does not, then ffmpeg script will have to be used, possibly a “one-liner” to do it.
I also use Linux in cli, and have some experienxe creating bash scripts.
https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp#subtitle-options
youtube-dl stopped being reliable for me a few years back (using the gui version at least). i use one called 4kdownloader that’s limited to 30 a day but i believe will download subtitles with videos. it also lets you set resolution and download just the audio if you are after interviews/podcasts/etc with just a static jpeg as the video (not really worth the extra MB).
https://www.4kdownload.com/downloads
they provide a .deb so it’s easy to wizard through it. fyi: the android version is cack. 5 videos a day and won’t let you set the directory.
For embedding, I think the link below would be the way to go, at least for now…:
https://core.telegram.org/widgets/post
But depending on the size of the video, it will be still necessary to use the telegram client, and having an active account, to play the content. I need to study deeper the telegram API to see if there is a way to bypass this. I think it will always to download the video somewhere, hopefully in the user computer.
Furthermore, I strongly suggest to you to send this use case for telegram developing team as a feature request. The possibility to get public direct links to contents in public channels would be the final nail in YT et al. coffins.
Telegram Android client
Open video
Top right, three dots, click and share the MP4 video telegram displays.
Email is an option, I think also download.
I sent you one as a test
I wondered about question #1 myself multiple times.
After researching, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no official way to embed Telegram posts that will work for all posts.
Some people have posted a link to an official page that lets you create embeds, but it doesn’t show videos that are larger than 20 Mb.
So, here’s what I do if I want to “embed” a Telegram post:
1. Download the video to my computer.
2. Upload the video to imgur.com.
3. Copy-paste the text from the Telegram post.
4. Add the link to the telegram post.
5. Add the embed code from Imgur.com.
We in a desperate need of some clever developer who will create a Telegram proxy website that lets you embed all kinds of posts, akin to the Instagram proxy “Bibliogram” https://bibliogram.art/
Here’s a good software for YT Downloads, and they have several options including subtitles..
There’s an Ubuntu version, in addition to Mac and Windows.. I’m using Win version past few years and it’s good.

Dear Saker.
Try Internet Download Manager from Tonec.
You can Download and Archive any video from Everywhere . I saved a lot of videos, now deleted from Youtube.
I use Google2SRT to save Sub from youtube (good for Chinese movies).
Telegram Desktop with a wired Internet is very quick to save file on you Computer.
Regards
That will not help.
True, you can download it. And it is legal to do for *your personal cunsumption*, at least in most jurisdictions.
But you still have no copyright license on it, so IT IS ILLEGAL TO DISTRIBUTE what you downloaded.
Assuming that you’re able to obtain the full URL of the video file, the easiest way to embed a video in a web page is by using the HTML5’s structure. It goes like this:
controls is an optional attribute to the tag – if provided, it instructs the browser to display playback controls for the video clip.
width and height attributes define the size of the section for the video to be displayed on the web page, regardless of the the actual resolution of the video clip – they’re usually used when the resolution is expected to exceed the display area of the page.
It seems that whatever system Mr. Raevsky is using for the blog “ate” the important part, so lets try again
Make sure to remove the unnecessary spaces around “” and “/”
Hi,
I don’t think that there is a ready solution. But when I got time on the weekend I’ could look into it and program you a Telegram Bot which would help you with your task.
Please beware Telegram is massively and actively blocking any (seemingly) “pro-Russian” channels in Europe.
What you may be able to access in US may not be accessible at other places.
Basically, while Telegram seems to not be going beyond the legal requirements on them like the Metas of the world are, those legal requirements are pretty severe as they stand today. Hosting stuff there is not a good idea anymore.
If you post multiple videos, only those which are (deemed) posted by pro-Ukraine posters will be seen by roughly 1/2 of the “A” audience.
Now, these “legal” requirements are actually illegal – the EU has no authority for them on a supra-national level – but they were still instituted and Telegram generally follows the “law” on these things. Or the claimed-to-be law. They are US-based after all, no much choice for them.
https://t.me/intelslava/24033?embed=1
Does that work?
Try this.
https://quadlayers.com/add-telegram-to-wordpress/
Telegram folder is organised as follow
. Media (embedded video)
. Links: links to youtube, etc..
. Files: pdf, doc, etc
You can access the the “media” video in the telegram folder.
The advantage of running a Telegram channel is that we get notification when somebody reply to our comments.. on admin side you would probably have more options available as well
I’m kind of a computer mullet. Can anyone tell me how to access official RF sites like en.kremlin.ru ?
I’ve been using Psiphon3, which works for RT, but not for the above
I’ve tried NordVPN but can’t figure out how to use it–it doesn’t list Russia as one of the countries.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
You need to find VPN service that has servers in Russia or China. Or any other non-West country that does not block Russian domains.
Try NordVPN servers in India, South Africa, Brazil, …
Is this issue still active?
I use GNU/Linux and have a script which downloads via Tor content from Youtube, SoundCloud and recently added Rumble. The script just calls youtube-dl, but the recent Rumble add does the “useful”. You provide it with the HTML page on Rumble, it pulls that and from it extracts the EMBED code which enables youtube-dl to pull the entire video.
This sounds related to your desire, and I would be most pleased to help, if the problem remains unsolved. Expected completion time is 36 hours, as first I have to install Telegram and learn its intracies.
Small progress; have installed a locked down Telegram Desktop, deleted Telegraph from the phone, and am routing Telegram Desktop over Tor.
Now looking into the embed issue. Its nasty. Lots of JavaScript obfuscation.
To clarify:
You want to right clink on a telegram post (with a video, theoretically) and then be able to paste that into a Word Press site so that it will then provide viewers access to the post (and video) from the Word Press site.
Correct?
Investigation complete. Telegram is a walled garden, and you are asking for a technical solution to break their walls. That will involve some creative and technical hackery which will result in an unstable solution. The only mechanism is the Bot API recently rolled out, and that while likely stable, is not completely fit for purpose.
So, your asking for help to break the walls of said garden, and I can’t see a stable solution.
Sorry I couldn’t do better, but such is the nature of our consolidated in a few major platforms current “web”.
I tried.
Instead of YouTube you could try Locals or Rumble
I use Kazam to copy videos or segments of videos rather than trying to deal with downloading software which I view as a losing game.
There isn’t much in the way of LINUX viruses but what little there is seems to be targeted at that GNU interface. I recommend Ubuntu-Mate instead.
Hi,
When you say “embed code” what do you mean? You can download any telegram videos in mp4 format.
You can do that by installing Telegram on your computer. Sign in and you will see all videos in Telegram desktop app. “Right Click” on any video and save it.
I am not sure if I answered your question.

On Linux, you surely can use mencoder to burn vobsub subtitles into video, like in this documentation:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/MEncoder
Though with .vtt websub subtitles downloaded from YouTube using youtube-dl –all-subs or similar command you may need some other conversion tool first. I am not quite sure about that, for yt-downloaded videos I use quite ancient mplayer version on FreeBSD, not Linux and I keep subtitles separated, for additional translations.
More technical details about possible matroska formats for subtitles and their transformations:
https://www.matroska.org/technical/subtitles.html
There is apparently a common codec for webvtt and if it is already present in backends of players for users there should be no problem with embedding a .vtt directly by mencoder into video. But I didn’t tried that yet.
Also, I am sure it is not possible to download AI-auto-generated subtitles from YouTube directly. Not a big loss, they are always clumsy as hell nonsense either, especially for Chinese or Russian.
First question: yes. You have to install metacam package then open the folder with the pictures an run the terminal IN the folder an execute: metacam -a
PS: I think you mean the meta data with “Code”

Under Post-Processing Options
Add the following:
–embed-subs
Embed subtitles in the video (only for mp4, webm and mkv videos)
Telegram is/was like WhatsApp, everyone thinks it’s secure when it’s not so not many developers care to waste time integrating whatever is on it (true free software it is not; why does it need my phone number boggles my mind). It’s server-side encryption is not available for the public which makes a lot of people hesitate (if you trust the company that’s your preference).
1.
Get the video url – click on 3 dots of the telegram video and then copy url
Use
https://wpastra.com/embed-video-wordpress/
and embedd the video
Hi Saker,
I verified below solution works:
I am assuming you already have the telegram app installed in your smartphone.
1] Type in this url in any browser of choice on your desktop/laptop: https://web.telegram.org
2] You might have to scan a QR code from your phone for authentication but after that you will be able to access telegram on the browser on your computer.
3] Go to the channel of your choice and select the video you want to embed.
4] Right click on this video and select “Copy Message Link”
5] Next open a new tab in your browser and paste that link in.
6] You will see a screen where you will see the video and three different options.
6.1] Embed
6.2] View In channel
6.3] Open In Web
7] Select Embed
8] On doing that you will obtain the html that you can use to embed.
9] I am unable to give an example how the html snippet will look because the security system is not letting me add html code to this comment. The html snippet will be a script with necessary information contained within.
Now you can add this html to your website/wordpress main html and the embedded video should be visible!
Maybe you’d make a server-less technology like IPFS or BitTorrent as a core storage, and then this blog (or any other, if this domain (or even the physical server) gets confiscated) as a user of the storage. So that you would be able to change the “visible” site without loosing video archive.

That said, few years ago i heard that IPFS daemon is very RAM-hungry on a sizeable storage
youtube-dl has been replaced by yt-dlp, FYI
Apologies for the name. It’s late and my creativity has long since expired.
This may provide a useful shortcut for generating embed code for telegram videos. It works as a javascript bookmarklet. It has only been tested in Brave but it should work in chrome and probably firefox.
Create a new bookmark for any page. Doesn’t matter which page or site. You’ll be editing it. Make sure the new bookmark appears on your bookmarks toolbar and make sure the toolbar is visible. I can post urls to a few screenshots if needed.
Right click on the new bookmark and click edit. Enter Saker.IT for the name or whatever you want to call it. Copy all of the code from the link below beginning with javascript and paste into the url box for the bookmark. Click save.
Visit any telegram channel in your browser like the following.
https://t.me/s/SPUTNIK
After the page finishes loading click the new bookmarklet. You’ll see a new text box below each video containing the embed code. As you scroll up and more posts and videos appear you’ll need to click the bookmarklet again. It only works on the currently loaded posts. Hope this helps.
