I have a confession to make: I have not been in Argentina since 1986!

And yet, I miss this wonderful country and its wonderful people.  Yes, I realize that the Argentina I once knew does not exist anymore.  I will especially miss my beloved old commuter trains with leather seats and the old and wonderful, if rather crazy, “collectivos” (buses).  So I listen to a lot of Argentinian music.  A *lot*: Mercedes Sosa, Astor Piazzolla, Sui Generis, Seru Giran, Los Chalchaleros, Los de Salta, Los Fronterizos, Eduardo Falu, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Ariel Ramirez, Cacho Tirao, Fito Paez and many, many more.  I recently came across a recording by two singers which I did not know about, Pedro Aznar and Abel Pintos.  In this video, they sing a very traditional and typical Argentinian “zamba” (not to be confused with the Brazilian “samba”!), but they re-visited this beautiful composition (Samba para olvidar composed by Daniel Toro) and re-interpreted in a modern way, yet with also a full respect to the core of what makes a traditional Argentinian zamba.

Check out this beautiful video and let me know what you think!

Kind regards,

The Saker
