I know Gonzalo talks about food shortages but I buy all my food from the local area in farm shops: meat, fish, vegetables, dairy produce, eggs. I have litre glass bottles so I can fill up with fresh (full fat) milk and egg boxes so I can buy organic, free-range eggs. I rarely shop in the supermarket.
I can also order a meat box containing meat from the local area and order a weekly organic veg box with vegetables grown in the south of England, apart from an organic farm in France which they bought a few years ago when the farm was about to go under.
We also make sure we buy nothing from the USA or Israel: electronic goods, electrical goods, clothing, food, drink, cleaning products, toiletries, makeup, car.
As for warmth, I’ve stocked up on thermal underwear (vests, leggins, socks), sheepskin slipper boots and have a good supply of woolly jumpers (pure wool or mixed fibres) and pure wool blankets so I can sit at my computer with my woolly blanket wrapped around my legs together with a hot water bottle.
I would also suggest buying a low energy dehumidifier which means you can keep the heating thermastat fairly low. I bought mine from a well known shopping chanel because I could test it for 60 days (3 easy payments) and return it if I thought it was rubbish. I kept it and bought another one for upstairs.
Having worked with the security services I don’t own a smart phone and have a £20.00, pay-as-you-go one and can get by on £20.00 credit a year.

I know Gonzalo talks about food shortages but I buy all my food from the local area in farm shops: meat, fish, vegetables, dairy produce, eggs. I have litre glass bottles so I can fill up with fresh (full fat) milk and egg boxes so I can buy organic, free-range eggs. I rarely shop in the supermarket.
I can also order a meat box containing meat from the local area and order a weekly organic veg box with vegetables grown in the south of England, apart from an organic farm in France which they bought a few years ago when the farm was about to go under.
We also make sure we buy nothing from the USA or Israel: electronic goods, electrical goods, clothing, food, drink, cleaning products, toiletries, makeup, car.
As for warmth, I’ve stocked up on thermal underwear (vests, leggins, socks), sheepskin slipper boots and have a good supply of woolly jumpers (pure wool or mixed fibres) and pure wool blankets so I can sit at my computer with my woolly blanket wrapped around my legs together with a hot water bottle.
I would also suggest buying a low energy dehumidifier which means you can keep the heating thermastat fairly low. I bought mine from a well known shopping chanel because I could test it for 60 days (3 easy payments) and return it if I thought it was rubbish. I kept it and bought another one for upstairs.
Having worked with the security services I don’t own a smart phone and have a £20.00, pay-as-you-go one and can get by on £20.00 credit a year.
We rarely buy new clothing or electical goods unless absolutely necessary. The way we live would cripple the economy (national and international) but we have a pleasant and comfortable way of life and no debt.

Each Fall I try not to turn the heat on until close to the first freeze. In solidarity with Europeans this year I gave the 18/19 c a try. I’m not that old but 19 or less for humans, esp the elderly is not going to work…..I lasted four days, overnight temps are -2s or lower…..heats on now, 20/21c…seems the most comfortable, for the aged it’ll be a couple of degrees higher.
EU mortality rates will rise this winter esp the old or infirm…..
