The mock air battle, staged in January over the Pacific Ocean, was to test the F-35’s prowess as a close-range dogfighter at 10,000 to 30,000 feet. The F-35 pilot was to fly his jet hard, turning and maneuvering to “shoot down” the older F-16 jet, whose pilot would be doing his best to evade being hit, and trying to attack the F-35.
The test pilot’s five-page brief said that despite the F-16 being weighed down by two drop tanks, and with the F-35 jet carrying no weapons, the F-35 “remained at a distinct energy disadvantage for every engagement.”
The F-35 was designed to far exceed the fourth generation F-16 jets, first built in the 1970s, with the ability to carry its fuel and weapons internally. Yet aerodynamic problems, such as “insufficient pitch rate” for the jet’s nose while climbing, were reported during the mock battle.
The F-35 test pilot also discovered he couldn’t comfortably move his head inside the jet’s cramped cockpit.
“The helmet was too large for the space inside the canopy to adequately see behind the aircraft,” said the report.
That allowed the F-16 to sneak up on him.
The F-35 pilot tried to target the F-16 with the stealth jet’s 25-millimeter cannon, which the smaller F-16 easily dodged. The pilot said the F-35 performed so dismally that it had no place fighting other aircraft within visual range.
While bad news for the ZPC/NWO, and their plans for world domination and universal slavery for the majority, it’s very good news for the rest of us. The USA should keep pouring money into this bottomless sinkhole.
There’s a reason the F-35 is called the “Lemonjet”. It looks like it was designed by a committee for versatility in all roles but has turned out master of none and virtually useless in any.
It’s only use is a first-strike on a third world country and that assumes no radar targeting from the side or behind where it’s stealth is poor. I understand it needs an F-22 for protection.
One ‘suicide’ Canada Goose would destroy it.
A contender for the most expensive hangar-queen in aviaton history.
Bit of a revelatory item in todays Washington Post (p. A13). [Not sure if mentioned here earlier.] In testimony Thursday (6/25/15) before the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, Admiral James Winfield Jr., Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, when asked about the Russian modernizing their weapons systems, responded that his major concern with Moscow’s program was its shift to mobile land-based ICBM’s. Why ? Because, he said, they “would be harder for us to hit in a first strike”.
As for the rest of Russia’s nuclear forces, Winfield testified that “their bomber leg is not as good as ours” and “their submarine-launched ballistic missile force, even with their improvements, is not as good as ours”.
.
Nothing really surprising here, except an open, public admission, at the highest level, that a preemptive nuclear first strike is still part of the U.S. plan, if and when it proves practical.
Pentagon’s F-35 stealth jet can’t win dogfight – report

Excellent South Front report.
