“I Started to See Clearly”: A Captured Ukrainian Soldier Walks Around the Streets of Donetsk
The Russian war correspondent Aleksandr Sladkov walked along the streets of Donetsk with a captured UAF serviceman, who then shared his impressions about what he saw.
“I started to see clearly. In Ukraine it is said that everything in Donetsk was destroyed. Here everybody is walking around, I saw a Christmas tree… Here there is only one thing to do: make peace. Here we are all the same, both you and I. Whether you speak Russian or Ukrainian, it is the same. I understand you, and you understand me,” said the former Ukrainian serviceman.
Whilst walking around Sladkov showed the Ukrainian soldier inscriptions in the Ukrainian language and monuments to famous Ukrainians in the center of Donetsk to show him that Donetsk residents have no hatred towards the ordinary citizens of Ukraine.
So, to Ollie and Angelina, our thanks for the translation and sub-titles.
As for the poor country bumpkin of Ukraine, the epitome of cannon-fodder. Uneducated, simple, bullied by the fascists in Kiev and a military that is devoid of humanity.
The great people of Donbass have fought long and hard for separation from the Nazi regime in Kiev.
They deserve an end to the war, but it is clear that the US and EU and NATO want the horror to continue.
So, we’ll see more of these hapless souls who survive the gunfire and mine fields and get captured and treated humanely in Donbass.

He is just a conscript recruited by force into the Ukrainian Army. You don’t fight a war with demoralized conscripts who do not wish to be in the Army in the first place. I wonder if Poroshenko understands this.
They say you should “kill them with kindness.”
Does anybody think this kind of positive reinforcement will help Novorossia recruit more soldiers into its ranks? Or would it be better to send these POWs back to Ukraine to start a Ghandi-like peaceful protest?
Incredibly moving. This is the kind of thing that’s come out of DPR/LPR for years that astounds people who have no reference for life “on the ground” over there. Thank you so much, Ollie and Angelina.
If they do swap him, he will be in big trouble. He might end up in hospital again.
This article suggests that the Empire is retrenching and Donbass and Ukraine are no longer a priority. The countries of Europe may well go back to their old “business as usual” – meaning inter-nation war.

What a lovely, simple youth — who takes his hat off during a snow storm to honor the fallen. He is very precious in the eyes of Heaven.
For his sake, find him a congenial farm job in Donbass and don’t return him anytime soon.
Petrel…I agree with your post in its entirety.
It’s sad how the naive are taken advantage of. He is not a bad man. I saw kindness in his eyes.
I felt pity for him.

Canadian Foreign Minister “Chrystia Freeland gives a new meaning to the title ‘Foreign Minister’. Normally, it means the person in charge of a state’s dealings with foreign countries. In Canada’s case, however, it sometimes seems to mean something rather different – namely, the minister who represents the interests of a foreign country. For on occasion Ms Freeland appears to be less the foreign minister of Canada and more the foreign minister of Ukraine”. You will find some great articles that explain this Ukrainian Wasteland of lies.

Accomodation or bridgehead ? “That’s, ” the – To be or not to be- ” question”, for many of the nations bordering Russia, as the Baltic States, Poland, and Finland. They don´t draw any other conclusion, than to join the Nato, today, or associate. But how come ? Of historical reasons, now they want Nato to protect them from Russia. Syria wants Russia, to protect them from Israel/Nato/IS.
The big news I found was that (1.) Ukraine,2014/15, harboured so much of anti-Russian feelings, if Kiev does, how come, all the other countries, what about them ? (2.) A big geopolitical surprise, how could Russia, lose, such an important game ? (3.) As if they don’t care, at all, before as 1968, 1979, Prague, Afghanistan, the Soviet army instant moved in, but lost at last too much in Kabul.
Ukraine, is anyway a dangerous European hot-spot, in the Russian belly, but the U.S., must handle this as an important victory, “of the century, ” laughing all the way to the bank”, quite, unthinkable for the old Soviets.
Some said that Ukraine was stretched too long to the West, and too long to the East, creating problems. So is “Ukraine, the problem from hell ” ? So far, there´s no solution in sight, it ought to be. About Crimea, Putin can say: when the USSR (1991) was dissolved, even the Soviet-republic´s borders were dissolved, as in Georgia´s Abchazia/Ossetia.
