I know that to some, this is heresy, but anyway, here’s the question:

Just what is the »ancient Slavic people«? Could it be there’s never been such a people? Only variants of a Slavic language, which was invented by Kyrillos and Methodios and used as a tool of christianization? Which has been ported, along with the faith, and as the medium to convey it, to various peoples and populations of Central and Eastern Europe?

This is not my invention, but it matches some thoughts and observations of mine, hence I’m much inclined to think it’s true.

The idea is called »Slawenlegende« (legend of the Slavic people), and it is labeled a »conspiracy theory«, like anything else that fundamentally questions the political status quo.

The idea is not much known and there’s not a lot of literature about it. Its relevance to the political status quo in Germany is, of course, the land we lost at the end of the war, i.e. Silesia, Pomerania, Prussia. If that land was »originally Slavic«, than well, serves us right we lost it, thus the argument. If, on the other hand, there’s been an ethnic Germanic (note: Germanic, not German) continuum all along the continental shores of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea (excluding Finland), extending South into the continent, then the divisions are merely cultural. In fact, they’d be the product of social engineering (avant la lettre) by the Churches in Byzance and Rome, which would have outsmarted our kings and emperors by placing a religious (and eventually linguistic) latch on the Holy Empire’s Eastern border to prevent its further expansion.

There’s much more to it, but it’s already getting long.

One very simple observation of mine that this idea matches is that so-called Slavic people don’t all have the same look, so it’s unlikely they’re derived from an »ancient Slavic people«. Instead, it’s Goths and Vandals and Sarmatians and Scythians and Vikings and Iranians and a lot more, in various composition according to geography.

Another observation is so-called Arabs. You know, »Arab spring in Egypt, Lybia« and such nonsense. What? Well, these are not Arab countries. The area where Arabian is spoken today is much larger than Arabia. How did Arabian spread to the peoples of the Levante and Northern Africa? By the Quran, by religion.

The case for Latin is similar. It spread due to military conquest and cultural superiority. Celtic is hardly spoken any more.

Point is: Religion and Language spread quite easily, it just takes a couple generations. Just as abandoned faith will live on in a substratum of certain die-hard customs, an abandoned language will live on in a substratum of phonetic nuances, like in variants of so-called pidgin English.

The particularity of Old Church Slavonic would be that it was either a local Saloniki dialect, or downright engineered by Kyrillos and Methodios. Not out of thin air, but out of the body of languages they were familiar with. They surely were masterminds.

So this Slawenlegende idea would sort of pull out the rug from under the old-fashioned notion of an Original Slavic Nation … because there wouldn’t be any such nation. Updated notions of nation de-emphasize blood and emphasize language, religion, history, a common narrative. It’s admitted that a nation is more a cultural construct than a fact of nature and breeding.

I haven’t read the Shlomo Sand book you recommended in your post on Zion the other day, Saker, but I think it does just that sort of deconstruction to the notion of »Jewish people«.

I’m not gonna give the whole course but let’s start with a couple of basics.

1. Ergo, the field is undergoing an incredible explosion of knowledge right now, but there are no simple answers to any one question. And anyone who claims to have “the answer” to any of it is more than likely to be proven wrong within a very short period of time as more data comes in and better ways of collecting and analyzing it become available. Individual Y chromsome data is interesting because it relates you to a specific subset of people. As I’ve noted here, my patrilineal family is from Switzerland, but our DNA pegs us as ultimately from Ossetia as far back as one might go..

However, Y chomosome data taken across a society is even more interesting because it washes away the fractional heritage problem and exposes the larger relational patterns with a much larger sample. In this regard, what is interesting about Ukrainians vs. Russians is that while both in the main are generic Slavic “R1A”, Ukrainians also have a noticable influx of Dacian/Serbian/Thracian “I” haplogroup Y chromsome, while Russians have a strong admixture of the the Finnic “N” haplogroup.

In this regard, Rurik, the founder of the Russian state is known to have been of the “N” haplogroup, and thus a Finn of some sort, not a Swede. So its intereting that the Muscovites are much closer to being typical Rurikids/Rus than are the people of Galicia or Kiev.

I don’t find the sentiments of the priest peculiar to any religion or limited by any religion.

By 1945 the Russian Orthodox Church has practically ceased to exist and all its clergy either murdered or tortured in camps by the very Bolshevik rule which the Papacy initially welcomed (http://orthodoxinfo.com/ecumenism/vatican_russia.aspx). All which was left was a fake “Orthodox Church” 100% controlled by the NKVD and which persecuted all religions with equal hatred. The Communists never turned over any Church to the Orthodox, but to what was called “Chekists in cassoks” or clergymen with epaulets under their cassocks and who were even denying urbi et orbi that there any persecutions of religion in Russia. You conflate our worst persecutors with us! This is just *so perfectly typical*. All that is missing is the usual ad majorem Dei gloriam at the end of such lies.

In 1000 years nothing has changed. There is no “conspiracy” and no secret society (although the Russicum in Rome is still trying hard) – there is what the Marxists call “class consciousness” except for the “class” in this case is not social, but religious. Sure, the Pope can meet with some senior Orthodox clergymen (since the False Union of Florence we are used to have treacherous bishops), but the truth is that in matters of faith Orthodox clergy has no more authority then simple laymen. Saint Maximos the Confessor was not even a priest. Every single Orthodox Christian is, to use an Iranian comparison, a “Guardian of the Faith” and this is why no amount of “Ecumenical dialogs of love” and bishop hugging will ever be enough to subordinate the Church to the Papacy. And no amount of hostile comments will make make stop from my personal witness to this history. Having your feathers a little ruffled is really very little “payback” for 1000 years of murderous persecutions :-)

First off everyone, there is but one race – the human race – when you find a group of people that cannot interbreed with everyone else and produce offspring, or only sterile offspring, then we can review the idea.

Secondly, ethnicity, family trees, ancestors and suchlike is interesting. Both sides of my family produced detailed family trees showing some really famous ancestors, that is assuming that everyone was conceived on the right side of the bedsheet. Knowing human behaviour, I sort of doubt that. Matrilineal societies make a lot of sense as you generally know who your mother is, even if your father maybe doubtful.

Third thing, in English we use “Russian” to describe two groups – ethnic Russians and Russian citizens. In Russian, two, separate words are used русские for ethnic Russian and россияне for a Russian citizen not of Russian ethnicity. With the abolition of nationality in domestic passports the usages seem to be changing.

Finally for Saker, the only people I’ve seen with beards in Russia are Orthodox priests and Old Believers or россияне never русские. Having a beard as I do often results in a passport check by the Милиция/Полиция in the big cities.

Thx for the links, read a few of your related posts and it may seem that you’re on track but a bit misdirected in a way. More than likely this is due to the “conspiracies” and varios dis-info propaganda. The Rh- factor is more complex than even your research has uncovered. In fact the “bloodline” that always seems to be obsessed with conquering is the defective element that lives in constant fear of being exposed. If one were to research the eye colours as well, you’ll see that in our ancient past the browns were the builders, the greens were the growers and the blues were the teachers. While most of this has been diluted over the eons, the basics remain the same, though eye colours are pretty much irrelevent due to intermingling. Always has and always will but “time” is the relevant factor as it limits the absolute influence. The fact that in our lifetimes 2 specific groups seem to be the “chosen” and/or “master” can show that they are the root of all evil and as we can see their corrupted influence is being diminished as they are illegitimate self-diluted and self identified in-breeders that never stand the test of time over time itself.
