One more horrific example of what happens when a government tries to make a “peaceful” revolution. In most of the World,it is just simply impossible and foolish to try it. A government needs to understand you are fighting for the lives of yourselves and for your revolution. There is nothing “peaceful” about that. You crush the 5th column, and move forward. Then and only then can you make the changes needed in your society. If that is clearly understood you can survive. When its not you will not survive.

I have always been interested in the survivability and sustainability of a regime that is anti-Western Zionist imperialist alliance.

A very important point I think also is the societal issue and the numbers game. Meaning whether a substantial majority of the population and civil societies are on the same page or not.

If society is heavily divided, if their is very deep corruption and injustice….people often do not care for the greater good of a country, patriotism and a general unity.

The more corrupt and divided a nation is, the easier it is for the Western-Zionists to infiltrate and erode the power of their enemy governments / movements.

Any nation, as a people or governement, who are not on the same page can easily be manipulated by the west.

Let me remind you that all these fascist tactics were thoroughly tested out in the Balkans during the breakup of the ex-YU and found to be working 100% provided that the zionazis fully control the media.

There were no Abby Martins back in 90s to see and show the other side.

So, many thanks to this brave woman and thanks for posting this!

thanks Saker for publishing this – it really needs to get out in the open that this fighting in Venezuela is not Maduro – its the opposition that is so violent – Abby Martin is so brave – she’s awesome.

Abby Martin, isn’t she that young lady who went out from RT so virulently in 2014, when Russia “invaded” Crimeea ? If yes, then she made a good turn in the good direction. Maybe we will hear much more from her.

You might be thinking of Liz Wahl: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NjIU8Xvk8E Martin did speak out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZolXrjGIBJs perhaps setting the stage for Wahl’s departure. One tends to pay attention to beautiful women, call it the Fox News effect.

      • chimmy on June 13, 2017  ·  at 1:25 pm EST/EDT

Come to think of it, Martin’s and RT’s genuine free speech (esp compared to the MSM) forced some kind response. and Wahl, the mousy-mole was already in place.

      • Internal Exile USA on June 14, 2017  ·  at 3:48 am EST/EDT

AM did mistep at RT, but she’s been doing incredibly brave, dangerous work ever since. Intelligent people can (and do) change; it looks like she’s found her niche and I certainly wish her very good luck and safe passage. She’s pushing the envelope farther than she did at RT.

Maidan over and over again. How quickly the “freedom fighters” turn to psychopathic violence. If this doesn’t prove the hypocrisy of “Human Rights Watch” and “Amnesty” International, nothing will. Starikov’s “Snipers in Human History” never change their tactics… the Empire doesn’t care how many innocent people are hurt or killed to further insane objectives. Unbelievable how far the Western Establishments have degenerated. Even alt sites dub all this the “failures of socialism”. Absolutely no moral compass left — MSM has no response and no excuse. High praise to Martin and companion for tenacity and valiance, in a sane world this story would be everywhere.

If you watch the “western media”, they will frequently tell you how many people have died as a result of these protests. But, they fail to mention how many have been killed by the “opposition”. So, the “opposition” kills people, then the media spins that as somehow the socialist government is evil, and just like Assad in Syria, the government is somehow responsible for all the deaths.

Telesur has done a decent job of giving the short details of these deaths.

There is a documentary called War on Democracy about Venezuela that will tell u exact this.
It has 10 years and it did not change. Same thing again and again…

  8. Alexander P on June 22, 2017  ·  at 3:06 pm EST/EDT

I know a lot about this country, speak the language, know about its history and people. So unlike some in here that seem to be experts on everything and anything, which I do not claim to be, I do know what is going on in Venezuela. I also feel emotional about this topic because I know how hard life there is now and how much people are truly suffering.

Distorting facts seems to be this lady’s tune, yes violence is now a daily occurrence sadly not just since the protests started. Under Maduro’s mismanagement and lack of oversight over the police crime rates have soared in the last years (this already began with Chávez) and Caracas has become one of the most violent cities worldwide with high homocide rates. Nevertheless, it is the army and security forces that have been killing students, entering universities and shooting randomly at protesters, there are so many videos out there, really no MSM needed to fake it.

Yes, there are violent elements within the opposition, as with every movement it attracts also the radical and even facist factions of society. But by and large demonstrations have been peaceful and for years so. A large majority of the people wants change, who wouldn’t, with the highest inflation rate worldwide, one of the highest crime rates, lack of basic goods and a crumbling infrastructure. Nobody is asking for a fascist, neo-liberal government though they may well get it but only because Maduro/Chavez ruined the place so badly. The IMF must be watching joyfully at just how badly he is ruining Venezuela.

What does this tell us about the recent turn of events and the demonstrations? Maduro ignoring the constitutional right of a referendum last year, ignoring election dates (this year should have been governor elections, which have been pushed out), creating his own constituent assembly, handpicked of course by the government. This is no longer democracy but an authoritarian regime of the likes of certain African nations. And he is 100% dependent on his crony militaries to maintain him in power at whatever cost. Since they make a fortune selling staple food they import at overpriced rates and subsidized fuel. The drug business is also huge as the army works with left wing guerillas from Colombia.

This wealthy country is in ruins and all thanks to a bunch of corrupt wannabe communists who have no skills to run a country and only maintain their grip on power to enrich themselves. Violence usually has a trigger, in Gaza it is Israel’s occupation, in Venezuela things are no different, if you take people the hope of a future they have nowhere to go but the street. Russia and China deserve a partner like Venezuela, but not with the current leadership, all it does is ruin the country and creating a failed state, that cannot be in the interest of either multipolar power.

Please Saker, I do know that it is easy to sympathise with Maduro, due to his rhetoric and officially pro Iranian/Russian stance. But he is selling the country’s gold reserves to the international banking cartel. He is hiring Anglo-Saxon mining firms to destroy the Amazon in the so-called ‘Arco-Minero’ just to squeeze the last bit of wealth out of the country. He is not what people here make him out to be. No matter how often he says ‘Yankie go home’ or ‘this is all an economic war’ against him. Just a ruthless regime pretending to be aligned with the multipolar world.

  9. Richardo on July 09, 2017  ·  at 1:50 am EST/EDT

The World is keept ignorant about brutal violence opposition practices against Bolivarian institutions and people. There is a remarkable difference between to ignore and to prevent to know. Strange a serious site like this take not an account of it. Even prestigious PTV makes some unintended, I presume, errors reporting heroic Venezuela affairs because of a biased style toward just pointing to violence…as “yellow” press. Also, exist dis-sensitising programs through MSM but even that, the lack of due context presenting the news have his part of guilt, then that you call “world ignores”
