Dmitry Medvedev, relishing his unplugged self, has laid down the law on the Special Military Operation (SMO). Bluntly, he affirmed there is a “one and a half” scenario: either to go all the way, or a military coup d’Etat in Ukraine followed by admitting the inevitable. No tertium applies.
That’s as stark as it gets: the leadership in Moscow is making it very clear, to internal and international audiences, the new deal consists in slow cooking the Kiev racket inside a massive cauldron while polishing its status of financial black hole for the collective West. Until we reach boiling point – which will be a revolution or a putsch.
In parallel, The Lords of (Proxy) War will continue with their own strategy, which is to pillage an enfeebled, fearful, Europe, then dressing it up as a perfumed colony to be ruthlessly exploited ad nauseam by the imperial oligarchy.
Europe is now a runaway TGV – minus the requisite Hollywood production values. Assuming it does not veer off track – a dicey proposition – it may eventually arrive at a railway station called Agenda 2030, The Great Narrative, or some other NATO/Davos denomination du jour.
As it stands, what’s remarkable is how the “marginal” Russian economy hardly broke a sweat to “end the abundance” of the wealthiest region on the planet.
Moscow does not even entertain the notion of negotiating with Brussels because there’s nothing to negotiate – considering puny Eurocrats will only be hurled away from their zombified state when the dire socio-economic consequences of “the end of abundance” will finally translate into peasants with pitchforks roaming the continent.
It may be eons away, but inevitably the average Italian, German or Frenchman will connect the dots and realize it is their own “leaders” – national nullities and mostly unelected Eurocrats – who are paving their road to poverty.
You will be poor. And you will like it. Because we are all supporting freedom for Ukrainian neo-nazis. That brings the concept of “multicultural Europe” to a whole new level.
The runaway train, of course, may veer off track and plunge into an Alpine abyss. In this case something might be saved from the wreckage – and “reconstruction” might be on the cards. But reconstruct what?
Europe could always reconstruct a new Reich (collapsed with a bang in 1945); a soft Reich (erected at the end of WWII); or break with its past failures, sing “I’m Free” – and connect with Eurasia. Don’t bet on it.
Get back those Taurian lands
The SMO may be about to radically change – something that will drive the already clueless denizens of US Think Tankland and their Euro vassals even more berserk.
President Putin and Defense Minister Shoigu have been giving serious hints the only way for the pain dial is up – considering the mounting evidence of terrorism inside Russian territory; the vile assassination of Darya Dugina; non-stop shelling of civilians in border regions; attacks on Crimea; the use of chemical weapons; and the shelling of Zaporizhzhya power plant raising the risk of a nuclear catastrophe.
This past Tuesday, one day before the SMO completing six months, Crimea’s permanent representative to the Kremlin, Georgy Muradov, all but spelled it out.
He stressed the necessity to “reintegrate all the Taurian lands” – Crimea, the Northern Black Sea and the Azov Sea – into a single entity as soon as “in the next few months”. He defined this process as “objective and demanded by the population of these regions.”
Muradov added, “given not only the strikes on Crimea, but also the continuous shelling of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir, peaceful facilities on the territory of Russia, the DNR and LNR, there are all preconditions to qualify the actions of the Banderite regime as terrorist.”
The conclusion is inevitable: “the political issue of changing the format of the special military operation” enters the agenda. After all, Washington and Brussels “have already prepared new anti-Crimean provocations of the NATO-Bandera alliance”.
So when we examine what the “restoration of the Taurian lands” implies, we see not only the contours of Novorossiya but most of all that there won’t be any security for Crimea – and thus Russia – in the Black Sea without Odessa becoming Russian again. And that, on top of it, will solve the Transnistria dilemma.
Add to it Kharkov – the capital and top industrial center of Greater Donbass. And of course Dnipropetrovsk. They are all SMO objectives, the whole combo to be later protected by buffer zones in Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts.
Only then the “tasks” – as Shoigu calls them – of the SMO would be declared fulfilled. The timeline could be eight to ten months – after a lull under General Winter.
As the turbo-charged SMO rolls on, it’s a given the Empire of Chaos, Lies and Plunder will continue to prop up and weaponize the Kiev racket till Kingdom Come – and that will apply especially after the Return of Odessa. What’s unclear is who and what gang will be left in Kiev posing as the ruling party and doing specials for Vogue while duly fulfilling the mass of imperial diktats.
It’s also a given the CIA/MI6 combo will be refining non-stop the contours of a massive guerrilla war against Russia in multiple fronts – crammed with terror attacks and all sorts of provocations.
Yet in the Bigger Picture it’s the inevitable Russian military victory in Donbass and then “all the Taurian lands” that will hit the collective West like a lethal asteroid. The geopolitical humiliation will be unbearable; not to mention the geoeconomic humiliation for vassalized Europe.
As Eurasian integration will become an even stronger vector, Russian diplomacy will be solidifying the new normal. Never forget that Moscow had no trouble normalizing relations, for instance, with China, Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Israel. All these actors, in different ways, directly contributed to the fall of the USSR. Now – with one exception – they are all focused on The Dawn of the Eurasian Century.
I’m hoping the current SMO will be totally complete by next May 9th at the latest. The symbolism of that would be epic. And then Russia (and China,Iran) can get down to the real SMO struggle for the multi-polar world in earnest.
Nah, that latter “SMO” for a multi-polar world won’t happen without a full-scale war against NATO forces (and/or its network of “assassins”, for that matter)…..
There will not be a war between Russia and NATO and / or USA, for the simple reason that both will lose compared to the rest. They were already fighting, and Ukraine will decide the outcome.
I believe that far too many do not understand the true capability of the combined Russian military. The US-NATO picture of strength is a myth. Yes, the US-NATO machine is gargantuan but it’s not effective. Especially after it decimated it ranks with the pre and post-Covid purges. It’s ranks have been pussified.
All of that aside, it is the modernization and technological capacity of Russia that people miss. And this is no secret, Russia has always outperformed the US-NATO Alliance. Russia has reached a tipping point, within its capacity, and it’s industrial conversion – where deterrence does not exist. And that technology is not just comprised of the hypersonic capacity.
Within the fields of physics, and wave technology, the Russian Federation has no equal. When you understand more completely what this entails, you become very grateful that it’s been Vladimir Putin at the helm of a very competent team.
Jocelyn,
BAM! You nailed it. Enstupefied Eurocrats and dumbed-down ‘Muricans have no clue how badly they are totally out-classed on today’s modern battlefield by the RUSS Federation. Combined arms brought to perfection in modern 21st century warfare.
Hopefully “Magnificent Milley” sees this all play out daily in his sat images and reports and starts squeaking up: “Uh–we’d better change course here, fellas. My pension, graft, and corruption are at risk here.”
Messrs. Putin and Shoigu have been extremely patient and level-headed through all this. To the world’s benefit.
I agree with your astute assesment. My only remark is that the ‘stone age’ is only one nuclear exchange away. How can that be averted when on the one hand there is rational thought and on the other there is none. I think we both know which hand is the rational one.
Russia hasn’t even begun to fight, and the AFU is 550k men short. Fresh out of blood and money.
Nah, the “full scale war against natzo” has already happened, and it’s practically over.
But not before the fat naz-Ze sings.
I need a big laugh emoji here, that was a zinger. !!
Forget the symbolism, leave that nonsense to the EU/NATO delusionals and let Russia get on with the war.
Did you see in my comment something about not getting on with the war? No,I didn’t think so.
Such symbolism is irrelevant. It is a new century
Considering that Russia see’s this SMO as ending the threat from nazism in Ukraine for the second time. I think ending it by May 9th would be appreciated by Russians. And would lend a new up to date reference for the traditional Victory Day parade and commemoration.
You don’t understand the Russian soul, May 9th. is one of the most sacred holidays, where we honor the fallen who march with us in March of the Immortals. SLAVA ROSSIYA!!!!
As a student of history, I believe Russia needs to go all the way to Warsaw Poland to clean out the nazis and then withdraw to the borders of Ukraine and occupy all of Ukraine. If Russia stops too soon it will continue to bleed and in 10 years it will have to mount an attack on the nazis again to finish them off.
I also think it’s necessary. Poland is the serpent’s nest of Eastern Europe at the service of the Atlanticists.
A Ukrainian blogger called Yuri, speaks in Russian, and presents nealy daily war suimmaries. In the first vid. of his I saw he stated “the Poles don’t forgive or forget”. He thinks they’ll clean house, as the banderites are anti-Slav, and have a strong history torturing Poles to death.
A masterpiece!! and Russia hav’nt even declared war yet !😂 🥃 with crushed ice and a cigar please!
I agree with every single word in the article. Odessa must become part of Russia.
Once Avdeevka falls, Odessa will not be far away.
Nah — should the very Odessa itself see battle, NATO will likely finally start sending its very own forces to the combat zone. Which may also mean a lot less “business as usual” aka the old “throw $$$ and weapons at the Ukrainians and let them deal with it themselves”…..
Nah – nazo’s “very own forces” are going to freeze or starve to death this winter.
Whatever’s left over will be ground into sausage meat, if you’re leading the charge.
I hate to agree with you, especially on something like NATO in Odessa, but that is probably what will / already has happen. As soon as Russia ‘appears’ to be making that move then Romania will turn into a staging post for the NATO ‘stand’ to ensure Odessa doesn’t ‘permanently’ leave NATO’ objects of influence.
Odessa was / is NATO’s red line; for without Odessa, the entirety of Ukraine becomes irrelevant and the billions of dollars the DeepState / Rothschilds has poured into it becomes a complete waste. NATO doesn’t care about anyone’s life except their own. Eastern Europeans don’t qualify as ‘human enough’ to be ‘worth saving’. They never did. Eastern Europe, considering half of them have Slavic origins, are just more ‘useful idiots’ to sent to the meat grinder so that ‘the chosen ones’ don’t have spill their own blood.
Rothschild will want ‘a return on their investment. (Roths = Rock / Child = Child – Child of the Rock – where is ‘the rock’… Crimea. Its ‘the primary distinguishing feature of Crimea from the sea. Was taught this forty years ago, and told not to believe the ‘rebranding’ that was going on and bought up the whole initial conversation about Rothschild origins in the first place. The whole ‘Red Shield’ thing is a ruse by House of Rothschild to try and cover up the last 150 years financing ‘eastern Europe’ in to trying and reclaim what was ‘Khazaria’ (Modern day Georgia / Abkhazia / Azov / Armenia etc on behalf of ‘the clan’ who deem themselves the ‘rightful owners’ of the land they lost a thousand years ago. The Poles, the Turks, the Germans, the French and even the British have been ‘conned’ into spilling blood in Crimea, and always trying to take it from Russia.
NATO will attempt to take Odessa. There will be multiple excuses and false flags. Atrocities by ‘evil Russians’ will be broadcast in unison on a thousand TV stations, and ‘the world’ will ‘clamour’ to save Odessa… just like save Aleppo etc.
Unfortunately Russia needs to move fast, very fast, before NATO gets to grips with its failures and goes all in on the ‘expendable Easter Europeans’ so as Rothschilds massive investment doesn’t go down the plug. (that is what happened in WW2… Rothschild saw Germany was going to lose, and ‘switched funding’ to ‘the winning team’.
So, Odessa is part of NATO’s essential Must Have’s. Always was. Without Ukraine ‘owning Odessa’, NATO WILL look like the invader… either with Ukraine as the ‘sock puppet in control’ or with NATO deciding that ‘Romania is reclaiming its heritage’… NATO has to stop Russia taking Odessa. Time is running out for NATO. There are probably hundreds if not thousands of NATO mercenaries already in there, preparing for what is coming. Without Odessa, Russia’ control of the black sea is done. Not Turkey, not Bulgaria, not Romania or Georgia get a look in with Russia subs / Bastions / and S400’s guarding the entire region. The Black Sea is a Russia lake (as it always was).
Russia needs to act fast. NATO probably is planning for this right now. An astute Geopoliticist would already be watching what is happening in Romania. NATO will have already identified that Russia is taking great pleasure in lobbing missiles into what was ‘Eastern Poland’ or the Lvov region and will happily expend tens of thousands more just for the fun of ‘sticking it to the NAZI’s. But despite their differences Russia has ‘trodden more softly’ when it comes to Romania. I’m guessing that Russia is going to plan-on-smoothing-things-over with Romania. NATO will not let this happen. If there ‘is no threat’ then there is ‘nothing for NATO to ‘protect you’ from’, and the reason for NATO evaporates. Hungary is already seeing this and taking stock of its future direction.
NATO has its sights on Odessa. Donbas & Crimea were Russia’s red lines. Odessa is NATO’s red line. NATO HAS to have Odessa… Russia HAS to have Odessa… and that’s where things will get serious fast and we can officially call it World War Three.
NATO/ USA has no red lines in Ukraine. Regarding the Ukraine conflict, they are all bluff. NATO/ USA would like to have Odessa but according to Andrei Martynov that is militarily impossible.
Can you throw up some sources for what NATO’s plans are for Odessa….
Cheers M
There is zero chance of Nato troops officially entering the conflict to protect Odessa. EU population are already riled up by extremely high cost of living caused by anti russian sanctions, add 40 to 50k dead Nato soldiers in the first week of clashes against russian forces and all shit would break loose in whole of Europe. Nato know they are not capable of defeating RF, they would run out of ammo within 2 weeks and get slaughtered.
Don’t conflate economic prosperity with military results. You have not seen anything resembling the greater capabilities of NATO until the military draft of Ukrainian gets extended to the rest of Europe by the EU elites. In other words, until NATO *actually* mobilizes.
Until then, both sides — Russia and NATO — are just low-balling Ukraine and using only a mere fraction of their capabilities. The economic wailing of Europe has nothing to do with the Ukraine conflict — it is a deliberate push by the West to bring forth their NWO and establish totalitarian government control over their sphere of influence. The Ukraine conflict is merely the “scapegoat” / excuse, not unlike what they simply tried to do with “covid lockdowns” back in the day //
You actually think Russia’s going to wait for them to build up again before they smash them. Unless they stop arming Ukraine I got a feeling the baltics are going to be next on the list since they were Russian territories to start with
@James K – ” You have not seen anything resembling the greater capabilities of NATO until the military draft of Ukrainian gets extended to the rest of Europe….”
Speaking of conflation, it seems natzo and it’s allies are already down to their last man. Or maybe not?
https://www.rt.com/russia/557750-ukraine-draft-convicts-women/
@the punisher — only if you believe that “NATO” exists only inside Ukraine. In that case, you probably also believe that the United States of America and every single member state of NATO is probably just a city inside Ukraine too, with people getting drafted.
Figuring out that NATO as well as all of its member states, armies, resources, etc… all exist very well outside of Ukraine literally sounds like elementary school geography, no offense…
Or is English not your first language? You seem to mistaking “NATO” for “Ukrainian forces” or “the territory of Ukraine” for some reason….
James wrote: “The economic wailing of Europe has nothing to do with the Ukraine conflict — it is a deliberate push by the West to bring forth their NWO and establish totalitarian government control over their sphere of influence.”
You’re getting there except drop the “government” for Western Financial Aristocracies. It’s that class of people who have the power and ability to destroy the UK/EU citizenry, small businesses, public health care, etc.
We know. For a few educated Americans left, we have seen the immense damage done to US society thanks to The FED whose sole purpose is to keep giving out multiple billions of $$s to only the Financial Aristocrats.
Result: in the US, Real Estate has monopolized 90% of small/medium-sized businesses; Big Insurance in medical care, auto, home costs keeping skyrocketing every year. Corporate Everything: grocery store/retail chains, and many others have all purposely left millions of impoverished American Citizens.
Try studying the little tricks the US FED does: pouring out billions, even trillions to whom? Of course, to all US/UK/EU Financial Aristocrats including US Big Oil/Gas/Mining and Military Industrial Industrialist: Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and many others.
And “no” Ukraine issues are directly tied to those just mentioned Monopolists who are fighting against the growing economic ties of Russia, China, Eurasia, Latin America, parts of the Middle East who are turning away from the US$$ System.
@Spinifex,
With all due respect: You have probably spent lots of time reading and digesting various sources of information and internalizing it all. There is but a small problem – It is mostly wrong. Odessa has been and is and always will be Russian! End of story!!! Don’t take my word for it only. Andrei Raevsky and Andrei Martyanov are two of the leading stars in all that is Russia and Her History, Period!
Please don’t feel crestfallen – It’s just that Russia and Her History is so varied and so filled with nuances that confounds even the brightest westerners. Russians now fully understand that Washington and Brussels do not respect the Sovereignty of other Nations, full stop!
The fight is now existential – The Rothschilds, Bilderbergers, Warburgers and other tinpot tyrants can go and screw themselves. We Russians have had enough western perfidy – So now the west will be taken for a really long walk on the most wild side they couldn’t even dream about.
Roths = Red

@James K (8.27.22 | 4:17pm EST)
Uniformed NATO troops? In large numbers?
Where will they come from, and how? By air, sea, or over land? From which specific staging points? What will their legal status be (if in NATO/members uniforms) once they are not on the soil of a NATO member country?
I’m not a military expert, but don’t see “NATO will likely finally start sending its own forces to the combat zone” as quite so easy a task.
Small numbers of special operations soldiers operating covertly (i.e., not in uniform, or “retired”, “advisors not in the combat zone”, etc.) is one thing – infil, exfil relatively easy to imagine. And no imagination required as the UK and US, at least, have already openly admitted this is the case. But in large numbers?
And all of this complexity/food for thought does not even touch on the issue of geography: when you say “combat zone”, where exactly do you mean? East of the Dnieper River? How are they going to get there in large numbers?
Also, there is the issue of sending large numbers of troops into areas where you have no air power capabilities, and the other side has air superiority and excellent air defense.
So, again, I’m no military expert – though I enjoy reading the writings of military veterans/subject matter experts on these issues – and I could be wrong, but I see some problems with the notion of NATO forces being officially (in uniform) being sent into the current combat zone.
Nato forces had no qualms about attacking Libya a few years back.
First of all, “large numbers” are not a problem as NATO can similarly pull off a “Ukrainian-style” draft to get any necessary numbers of troops as well. We can see via the news the “full capabilities” of the Ukrainian military. We have not, however, seen anything resembling even close to the full capabilities of NATO until NATO extends that Ukrainian-style draft everywhere beyond Ukraine’s borders. That’s right — don’t judge an army until you’ve seen “full mobilization”. Also, “legal status” is irrelevant here — since when has it mattered for any NATO excursions into Yugoslavia, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and North Africa?
Secondly, regarding “from where they will come from” — well, if Odessa is threatened, NATO troops will physically enter from Moldova, with the zone west of Dniester likely becoming a staging ground for them as well (Russia is unlikely to attempt to take territory west of Dniester as they would be entering quite a “cauldron” so to speak easily flanked by Romania and Moldova geographically).
Thirdly, the “combat zone” you asked for Odessa is simply that of the territory of the city and its small surrounding areas. Your major river here is not “Dnieper”, but rather the “Dniester”.
Fourthly and finally, Russia has air superiority *only* over the Ukrainian air force, and that’s it. So don’t jump to conclusions here — this is not a NATO force operated by NATO countries piloted by NATO personnel. When NATO sends its *actual NATO* air forces to the zone of operations, things may change quite rapidly.
Great write up by Pepe. Always a pleasure to read.
However, I would disagree with him on which regions would return to Russia.
I don’t see any reason why Chernigov and Sumy wouldn’t return to Russia. Both oblasts were virtually overrun by the Rus armed forces within the first month of the SMO. Russia gave them up to facilitate the deal with the Kiev regime which the comedian later abandoned. The natural buffer of the Dnieper river wouldn’t make sense if those two oblasts wouldn’t return to Russia.
Also, leaving an independent ‘Ukraine’ even as a rump state wouldn’t be a good idea because the NATO can corrupt them and use them for terrorist activities.
This is why I tend to believe that Russia would acquire the whole Ukraine upto Lvov. They’d either annex the Westernmost oblasts as well or they’d leave it for Poland and Hungary.
Leaving a Ukrainian rump state would allow NATO to use it for terrorist activities against Russia with plausible deniability
Good point, Russia (and the slave world) doesn’t need another Kosovo (that, by the way, hope will cease to exist in the coming decade)
My recollection is that Russian Forces first entered the Ukraine on Feb 24 through Chernigiv Oblast. There, the Ukrainian Forces sprang a trap and Russia lost a lot of men as the Russians came in a bit too light. The result was that Chernigov city was bypassed and the Russians moved south. Chernigov was a major centre of Ops for Mercenaries, hence later, the biggest Hotel in the centre of the city was hit by an air-to-ground missile attack killing the Mercs. The mayor of Chernigov is a Russophobe…so, sure, there are Russians within Chernigiv and Sumy Oblasts but the Ukie Banderist sympathisers still hold sway there…Geographically it makes sense to integrate these two Oblasts into the RF but it will mean some continued major conflict to get to that stage…
What the Russians do not take directly will operate as a neutral-to-positive domain similar to Belarus.
The only question is: Who will be the next “Borderlands” administration regime that present themselves to Moscow in 2022-23 fiscal for approval and endorsement?
NATO is largely a defunct (& de-clawed) parasite on the bankrupt books of a Euro-American Depression Zone.
They can easily be defeated by simply turning down the “Big Brother” volume control knob.
Considering the rabid russophobia prevalent among western Ukrainians, it’s hard to think that they’d be a ‘neutral’ society towards Russia, especially after the SMO.
The best option for Russia imo, is to let Poland and Hungary grab the those parts and annex the remainder of Ukraine. After that, Hungary and Poland will be responsible for any any attack coming from those two oblasts.
The warning from Russia months before the SMO began that Ukraine would lose its statehood fits with such an outcome.
Eventually the Ukraine will become one of those coloured patches on an animated history map, of which if you blink, you will miss its whole existence. A non starter as a country, destined to be just another artificially created entity whose purpose was quickly forgotten.
I’d prefer to think that the Battle of Ukraine will be remembered in history as the Fall of The Fourth Reich, led by the North American & Euro fascists.
The schoolbooks in every secondary school in Zone B will say so, while in a paralysed West those books will circulate on the Black Market as a dishevelled proletariat navigate their way through a Stasi type Police State who seek out readers of such materials, with monthly must attend communal book burning ceremonies . . . . . and we will attend, huddle together, if only to gain an hour or two’s warmth.
“. . . . . and we will attend, huddle together, if only to gain an hour or two’s warmth”
And ve vill be happy!
Not even close. The fourth Reich empire is south of Ukraine and well fortified.

Bravo Pepe! The tasks facing Russia are clear, and objectives well defined. What is unknown is how much more evil will be unleashed by the minions of the Father of Lies (including the 5th column inside Russia) before they are utterly defeated. More seriously for those of us in ‘Oceania’, is whether the geopolitical defeat of our own cruel overlords will be followed by our own liberation or the establishment of an impoverished version of Klaus Schwab’s technocratic slavery system in what was once called the ‘free world’. Other than possibly some regions of the USA, there is little cause for optimism.
As “Joy” points out, we do not know the actual “health” of the US Financial Center. No economist, Western, or Eastern, has yet to divulge whether there are, or are not serious problems going on within the US’ Financial Hegemony.
The only clue of its potential problems is that in 2019, right before Covid struck, the FED sat down with US/EU/UK financial gurus and determined that the FED must start rapidly spinning out massive billions, even trillions of $$ to Western Banks, and US/EU largest shareholders. It seems there was a massive blow up of the Derivative Markets.” But was that all to it? Is this murderous Hegemon beginning to fall? Hudson refers to it and says it will take 20+ years before Eurasia, Latin America, and possibly Africa completely sideline the US$$ power.
Meanwhile, fast forward to 2021/2022, the FED is doing the same thing, by printing $$$ madly, while perpetrating (yes, it’s by design) skyrocketing inflation witnessed especially in the UK and the EU.
Other than those “clues” we know very little. Dr. Hudson alluded to, back in February, 2022, how the US & its EU/UK Aristocrats were dead set on destroying Germany because it’s the big powerhouse in the EU with massive trade with Russia, and Asia.
But other than that, we are stuck out in La La Land, searching for little clues to help us understand the present condition of the US Financial $$$ System.
If anyone has read or heard a Top Class, honest economist willing to reveal the real status of the US Financial Hegemon, please let us know.
Very, very frustrating.
All we know is that the US/EU/UK Financial Aristocrats are dead set on destroying German trade & its financial powerhouse.
The best economist I know is Scott Grannis. You can find his written blog online by googling the name.
I checked out Scott Grannis’ site. He says that the financial indicators are great. He says it is reasonable to exclude energy prices from the price index. He says our economy is growing at over 5%. It all sounds like Establishment pablum to me. I think I’m through bothering with Scott Grannis from this point on.
He says some are great….not all. Leftists complain when energy is left out when prices are rising; corporate types complain it is left out when prices are falling. STATISTICIANS leave it out because it makes the figures far more volatile than they need to be.
The collapse in commodity prices across a broad spectrum of meats, metals, grains, lumber and capital goods will show up inflation figures soon, though personally I think it will not be sustained.
I still think the rest of 2022 will continue being weak and be recognized as a recession by US media toadies after the election.
Keep in mind that given the state of the economics profession one can a leader but still pretty piss poor as a forecaster!
Hi Rubicon…
You said… “No economist, Western, or Eastern, has yet to divulge whether there are, or are not serious problems going on within the US’ Financial Hegemony.”
Personally, I have undertaken a serious amount of research on this subject… my Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dumb comment in last week’s Cafe covered this situation The casino economies… US, Japan, EU and UK are all currently in debt death spirals and about to go down with the ship.
The fact that total world debt is ~350% of global GDP seals the deal… the world desperately needs a new financial system that is not fiat based. The Zone B system is precisely that… its there sitting on a plate for the entire world to consider.
My answer, backed up by figures, is that the group that currently wields this hegemony is comprised of exclusively zombie economies… it’s a train wreck.
Regards
Col
Hi Col
We read your article on Cafe. You stated:
“The top 10 countries ranked by national debt per person are all part of the Natostan club with Japan and the US filling the two highest positions [ 2 of the top 3 countries by GDP in the world] and all of the other positions except for Canada and UK are filled by EU members.”
Based on what we’ve read, there appears to be two kinds of “debt.” There’s “debt” that, in this case, US citizens hold with no way of paying off, and then there is Government Debt. Such is the case with Japan.
The US Financial Debt is very high, but because the US is the current “Hegemon” it can get away with this.
This is because the US Dollar is the main currency used around the world. Those $$$s swirl around the world, and always return back to the US. Thusly, we have The FED who has the ability to pour out multiple billions of $$$s to Big Western Banks, and the Financial Aristocracy in the Western World.
We do not know whether the many countries moving away from the US$$ will eventually succeed by impacting the US $$ status.
Dr. Michael Hudson has stated, repeatedly, that this financial rupture between the East vs the West will take 20+ years before we see who wins in The Battle.
We wish to have some economist to currently update us on *how* much impact the East shift is making in negatively influencing the US $$$ Hegemon. That is what frustrates us.
@ Rubicon
You said… “Based on what we’ve read, there appear to be two kinds of “debt.” There’s “debt” that, in this case, US citizens hold with no way of paying off, and then there is Government Debt. Such is the case with Japan.”
Yes absolutely, there are many types and layers of debt.
And Govt debt is made up of 2 categories…
#1 Debt owned by parties outside the state.
#2 Debt within the State…. mostly in the form of Govt bonds.
In Japan’s case, there is $9.5 trillion which equates to $75,000 per citizen and a whopping 251% of GDP.
These numbers don’t include all the internal debt and all manner of non-Govt loans, including metropolitan debt, personal loans, mortgages and then all manner of unfunded liabilities.
When you start adding up all these layers of debt it then reveals just how broken the Zone A system is. In the case of the US the total debt per citizen is in round numbers about $500,000, and per taxpayer around $800,000!
I admire Michael Hudson immensely and seldom disagree with him on anything. In this instance, though I don’t agree that this process will take anything like 20+ years. The progress in just 6 months has been huge with ~90% of the globe [on a population basis] signalling that they want to join the Zone B cooperative group.
I will try and locate a graph to show how the use of the U$ dollar as a reserve currency is trending… I know for a fact that it is on a very steep dive.
Cheers
Col
EU and US are betting on the “too big to fall” theme. They continue to print money and throw them down in black holes.
In the area of Europe I live in everybody have new cars, bricklayers drive around in white BMW’s.
Ok the gasoline price and electricity price raised 50% and some food raised, so what?
They are still betting on the digital ID slave world and that the Green Deal Clima economy will save their big casino bet on Red, and the rest of the world cant avoid their toxic influence as long as their pockets are full of the two most valued world currencies.
What about you guys? A life in big cars, a big house near the beach, and Golden Credit Card, and all you have to do is sacrificing your own elderly, your peasants, your neighbours, managing buffer nations into the Russian grinder.
The alternative is a pitchfork in your right hand? We have tried this before. A lot of peasants and a few police die. Never the people on the Hill.
Check the campgrounds for people eating peanut butter out of plastic jars and paying with the Golden Credit Card, they are easy to track down and hang in those locations.
Im just taking Michael Hudson’s prediction it will take Russia and China 20 years+ to make up with the hegemon, and NATO’s Stoltenberg’s “we will just out spend Russia”.
Think about it, EU/US printing € and $ unlimited, buying up everyone with a little influence………….LOL.
Personally, I have undertaken a serious amount of research on this subject… my Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dumb comment in last week’s Cafe covered this situation The casino economies… US, Japan, EU and UK are all currently in debt death spirals and about to go down with the ship.
A source very close to the elites told me 20 years ago that all EU economies (then including the UK) and the US were multi-fold bankrupt, and the only thing keeping them from a reckoning was massively fraudulent accounting.
Almost certainly it has got worse by several orders of magnitude since then, after the west has doubled down several times over.
So…maybe the whole thing is a set up then.
BRICS in cahoots with the West to take down the bankrupt system
Of course they need a huge smokescreen to hide the truth and make it look natural.
Ukr war, covid and what not.
@ Rick and BM: good points. Maybe you’re both half right?
Robbing “Peter to pay Paul” is not an option anymore in the big scheme. Because Curly, Moe, and Larry haven’t cashed out at the top of the heap like they were promised, and now the money’s all gone. Making the banksters even more suspicious… and scared.
One thing for sure, the sanctions are burning up the last usd/eur/dm/… like dead meat in some final great barbeque.
Here are a few I read. They deal with finances USA an abroad. The roses are dead I’m afraid

@Rubicon
Yes, there were massive clues pointing to systemic financial problems in 2019, well before the Covid debacle surfaced, just as you allude to with your comment…
…” potential problems is that in 2019, right before Covid struck”
Even US treasuries [the collateral pledged] are not risk-free as evidenced by the 2019 repo debacle where there was a premium of ~8%.
Why is this?… because for every outstanding US treasury on average somewhere around 3 separate parties believe they own it… even the IMF admits this… and this is why they are not risk-free.
Under this crazy system even though individual banks’ financial statements show them to be solvent the overall financial system isn’t.
The TBTF banks know it and this is why the repo market freezes up regularly. It’s like musical chairs, and illustrates why apparently this apparently “risk-free” arbitrage is a complete nonsense.
This is yet another giant elephant in the western financial casino.

Hi Joy
I too am domiciled in Oceania… specifically in NZ.
Like Australia, “our” country is a Natostan lapdog that is idiotically expressing solidarity with the neo-Nazi lunatics who are very busy destroying Ukraine as a state, along with its economy, and a tragic number of its population. Of course, in essence, this means NZ is also supporting the impoverishment of Europe, the breakup of the EU, and the disintegration of its currency too.
Personally, I don’t see any cause for optimism in any Natostan territory anywhere on the globe. Remember too that this Zone only really has the support of ~ 10% the world’s population… the remaining 90% form the group that totally opposes Klaus Slob and the City of London/Wall Street Anglo-American blueprint of a “technocratic slavery system”… BTW, what an excellent 3-word description you use.
In the last Cafe, I aired my hypothesis as to the inevitability of the economic breakdown of Zone A with the observation that the only difference I saw with the 2019 POTUS election, from the choice of either Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dumb, was the speed of the already inevitable trainwreck. Interestingly, not a single commenter came to the rescue of Orange man.

I see a very bright future for countries joining in early with the huge all-encompassing BRIICS+ initiatives. It was quite uplifting for me to read yesterday that Prof Evaristo Nebyera has an almost identical view on the potential of the new multipolar financial and security paradigm.

PS What an amazing and enlightening asset Pepe is to us all!!!… please take care in your epic journey Pepe!
Thank you [ Col…’ The Farmer from NZ ‘ ]. I’ve printed out the in-depth blog posting you referenced to peruse when time permits.
One wonders how the governments and peoples in the EU (add Britain to the list) can be so shortsighted. They’re screwed. Russian gas and oil are never coming back. Hence, this collective trainwreck of countries is back where they were at the start of the industrial revolution … this time without navies and armies to pilfer natural resources from other peoples at the point of a gun. The US, as a factor in its own economic survival, will fleece the EU of whatever wealth they can find, even if that is motivated by a cynical attempt to destroy what remains of economic competition.
Europe used to be one of my favorite destinations before the EU sucked them into a dystopian nightmare ruled by faceless apparatchiks. Wherever the EU goes, the economic, cultural, and moral rot follows! The nations in the EU live within a cultural, economic, and moral La-La Land that has no future.
To get a vivid picture of what the United States has done for humanity since WWII, I recommend the book “Shock Doctrine” by Naomi Klein. The book tracks the CIA-funded and directed “scientific torture” experiments that surfaced as a fallout from the Korean War to the movement to impose unregulated, “free market” capitalism on the countries in Central and South America through military coups in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. The CIA with the help of academic psychologists, as it were, figured out how to use “shock and awe” to destroy and reformulate the human soul through “scientific torture”. They succeeded: it works! Then, amoral functionaries decided to expand the concept as a formula for reformulating economies through “shock and awe”. “Shock and awe” was the substance of Milton Friedman’s “Chicago School” of economics for controlling inflation that the Ford Foundation and the US Government used to push against the growing socialist movements in Latin America. Allegedly, Friedman was once pointedly asked about the connection between his “free market” economics and the thousands of “disappeared” in Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. His response: “But that’s what you do to control inflation!”
The US military picked up on the theme. Recall the “shock and awe” attacks on Iraqi cities and civilian infrastructures in Operation Desert Storm to disorient the Iraqi population. It worked! The United States is definitely on to something useful for humanity in using “shock and awe” in the areas of torture, unregulated “free market” capitalism, and military campaigns whose effectiveness trade on massive collateral damage designed to disorient and immobilize entire populations.
Let me cut this short. Great Britain and the EU are going to shortly experience what it means to be the target of an American “shock and awe” campaign directed at them … as the wounded Anglo-Zionist Empire flays about in its death throws. It’s sad! Like a drowning person hopelessly flapping and grasping to postpone the inevitable, the United States is very likely to take the other Anglo nations and the EU down with it.
Yes, it’s an absolute tragedy DoDark…
Basically, the AAZ/Natostan dictatorship has set the entire European economy on fire.
I adore that area of the world and the massively diverse history and cultures in such a relatively small corner of the globe. Sadly I have absolutely no desire to visit any part of it in the foreseeable future. I know for a fact that the atmosphere and the ambience that I once enjoyed so much will be a complete letdown for some time now.
I also wanted to retrace the old Silk Road and do a photographic story of it, as it once was, and what it could become with the new BRI developments
This remains on my bucket list too but is very much on indefinite hold.
Cheers and regards

I fear already in 2023/24 the stench of ‘US-Aid’ insect (wonder)food will fill the streets allover european urban-mega centers which strangely will make it’s eaters verry happy, and verrry eager for the next dose…
So Klausi Schwab and his local Nazi-pals will have their little fiefdom to play with.
I certainly agree that Odessa would be a great and key victory, without it Ukraine becomes a land locked vestigial state. I imagine though they will fortify it to the gills. Sometimes I wish Russia had destroyed Ukraine’s power on day one, would have made a lightning warfare strategy for Russia more viable. The one mistake Russia keeps making is being too kind.
Thomas; Russia “being too kind” is really the secret key to its victory. All kept in balance that is. Russia’s practical humanity reveals a vital demarcation of itself from the oligarchic empire, and in so doing it confirms its entitlement to represent the aspirations of humanity. The poets know that “the world will be saved by beauty.”
Let us beware of our own ego driven Western martial programming. Violence and cruelty is not defeated by violence and cruelty.
Balanced kindness is at the heart of Russia’s war winning strategy.
No, I heard it directly from Jamie Dimon that the recent Federal Reserve (internal) audit showed their books to be a healthy AAA++; only a congressional classified bill status prevents their publishing, honest!!. Also, the rumours of the Fort Knox gold being gold plated tungsten is Russian propaganda. Further, Monsanto, Musk & Gates are working on a battery of dastardly bio-weapons that’ll be a gamechanger if the wind direction’s in our favour when launched. Should be in place as early as 2058.
Meanwhile back in Realityville we’d like to remind our serfs, err citizens, not to heat their households above the legal temperature limits. The maximum sentence for such egregious public acts has been raised to the death penalty.
Signed, Forever yours, in absentia, J Bidet
We wouldn’t put much store in what Jamie Dimon says – ever. Many in the US/EU/Uk financial worlds know him as a major bank thief who has been sued by the Federal Govt. many times in the past, but Dimon always evades imprisonment because he is part/parcel of the US Financial Aristocracy that includes The FED.
May we suggest you thumb through some of the articles “Wall Street On Parade” who has published a good many articles about that man.
He’s as elusive as a passing shadow.
Thanks Rubicon!
Hence I named him chief protagonist in my satirical comment. It was a toss-up between him and Lloyd Blankfein, both feigned ignorance at a congressional hearing on the fallout of the Subprime ponzi scheme.
Whats the best outcome for Russia geopolitically?
IMHO Russia needs to go all the way to Western Ukraine and establish a border with Hungary. They can do this directly by absorbing the Ukrainian territory that borders Hungary, into the Russian Federation or by establishing a friendly state there. Russia needs to do this so as to get access to Serbia through Hungary as well as to control the southern Druzhba oil pipeline.
Then there is the question of what to do about Ukraine. It may be best to leave a territory thats about 2 to 3 times the size of Switzerland i.e about 100,000km sq. around Kiev to act as the legal “Ukraine” so long as its under Russian control of course. This would be needed to legitimize the independence of all the other regions of Ukraine and their eventual accession to the Russian Federation.
Its likely that the West will eventually set up a Ukrainian government in exile, in Poland or else relocate it to Lvov. Either way there may well be competing Ukrainian governments, one controled by NATO and the other by Russia, at the end of the war. Whichever one controls Kiev will have the best claim to being the legal Ukrainian government.
Btw. Hungary is not a Russian ally. They are just practical enough not to be the enemy.
If Russia is looking for a possible ally that would border with Serbia, Bulgaria fits better. The new government does not seem anti-Russian.
However, the issue is now moot. Serbia and Kosovo just shown the world that it is possible to take a higher road and not every dispute requires a military solution. Respect to both.
“Kosovo” is stolen part of Serbia. This is continued “recognition” and reward for terrorizing Serbs out of their country and stealing it, then systematically destroying Serbian churches, monasteries, shrines, cemeteries, etc. K-Albanians got their way by threatening Serbia and starting trouble, so Serbia gave in. Meanwhile Serbs, Roma and others who were ethnically cleansed and had their homes, land and businesses stolen, still can’t return.
Hungary is much friendlier to Russia than Bulgaria. Plus Hungary under Orban has the cojones to stand up to the EU. The whole Southstream debacle in 2014 proved that Russia cannot trust Bulgaria.
Regardless of Serbia and Kosovo seeming to take the most tentative of steps to agree on the license plate issues, the very existence of a separate Kosovo (and Camp Bondsteel within it) means that it is a flashpoint and a thorn in Russia’s side. Ultimately Serbia will have to resolve the Kosovo issue and Russia will have to play its part. Its very likely that there will have to be a military solution there.
Russia and the rest of the world have another big problem with the “combined west,” and that is what seems to be an insane US/UK/Israeli power structure in control of a couple of thousand deployed nuclear weapons. The Israel-ites have already hinted at their policy if it looks like they are “threatened” bad enough — the Samson option, where they launch their several hundred nukes at pretty much everyone else, all of Europe, the Arab capitals, Iran, likely Moscow too. The sense I get from listening to US pols and oligarchs is that they are not about to let the Rooskies escape from the trap the West has set.
The leadership and Owners have their bolt holes and bunkers where they plan to ride out whatever storm is coming. And if that means blowing up the world faster than the current political economic fires are doing, so be it. I recall that the US’s former Cold War targeting, of the 10,000+ nukes it had then, included blasting any nations that might “take over” after the Great Northern Hemisphere Nuclear exchange.
So the precedent is set, the geocoordinates are pre-loaded, and Russian success at being a truly modern and maybe even honorable nation, grown past the idiocies of the Great Game simply CANNOT be allowed.
Bring on Ragnarok! The neoNazis in Ukraine are already on board for that, check out their “philosophies” and tattoos…
I forget there is still a Venezuelan ‘govt in exile’, I’ve even forgotten his name. The NATO one for Russia, Navalny is in exile in a Russian jail. And they killed the Syrian one, even his dog, or so they said.
Our govts and there plans are as annoying as the people they anoint.
The watchful have been expecting this moment for quite a while now.
The adjustment of the aims of the SMO.
Great reporting from Pepe.
Bravo for “the Taurian Lands.”
It is majestic.
The Taurian Lands connect Russia to ancient Greece..
Russia is a bear, but Crimea and thereabouts is a bull.
The Bear of the interior and the Bull of the sea.
Not to be picky — I love Pepe Escobar — but I have an issue with his description of Medvedev’s first option as “going all the way.” In most people’s minds, whether friends or foes, that means complete takeover of Ukraine by Russia. But that’s not what Medvedev actually said, which was:
“The first [option] is the achievement of all the goals of the NWO and the unequivocal recognition of its results in Kyiv.
The second [option] is a military coup in Ukraine, and only then the recognition of the results of the special operation.
That’s all the options.
Tertium non datur!”
By the way, I highly recommend Medvedev’s Telegram channel. He sure has become a spunky son of a gun! His posts often get me cheering aloud, and/or chortling. I think maybe he says the stuff Putin can’t say out loud.
Oops, oops, major boo-boo in my comment!!!!!
In my quotation, I repeated the error in Telegram’s auto-translation of Mr. Medvedev’s post. He did not say NWO!! He said “СВО,” which of course is the Russian abbreviation for Специальная Военная Операция = Special Military Operation (SMO).
I apologize for my error!
Thank you for that much-needed clarification.
because continuing to keep your enemies alive when it would be enough to stop the supply of fuels and raw materials, total closure would have been enough and today there would be no more enemies able to send weapons and mercenaries to Ukraine,
there is something that is not very clear in this attitude
it’s like you give the hangman the rope to hang you.
fifth column? or just stupidity and thirst for money on the skin of Russian soldiers.
Well a noose is a noose, no matter how tight – it’s called “conditioning of behaviour by the pain-principle” in order to atune to the correct behavioural pattern the noose is tightend or loosend.
The President (and there is only one currently) knows it to be foolish and highly immoral to kill a whole ‘continent’ without need. Beside the behavioural changes required will be quite substantial, even revolutionary in scope and depth.
If things will go completly out of hand in Europe (and most likely they will), a concerted UN-intervention of the willing (nothing new under the sun btw.) might be called in – who knows ??! Both the US’s and Europe’s ruling elites will certainly face a nasty and extremly humiliating dilemma – that’s for sure !
It’s hard to think that the world will stand idle, when the Eurocrat-dummies start to slaughter off their ‘own’ countries and people , the more if large parts will cry for help !
It’s gonna be epic either way, anyway…
killing an entire continent, metaphorically speaking, the one that the continent itself would take no more than 10 minutes to decree the death of russia and the death of its population,
therefore the more Russia continues to supply rope to the West the more the West uses this rope to hang as many Russians as possible
If you hermetically seal the dust-collecting bag of a vacuum cleaner, its dust-sucking capability will be totally eliminated thereafter. What Russia has done is convert the Donbass into a highly efficient vacuum cleaner for NATO military resources, which she is steadily hoovering up and demolishing. In doing so she is efficiently eliminating the ability of NATO to counter her will.
Thomas writes:
“The one mistake Russia keeps making is being too kind.”
Yes indeed. And I think it would probably not be so kind if Putin were not the president. It amuses me and enrages me — but mostly enrages me — to see Putin depicted in Western media as some sort of murderous, warmongering monster. It’s the exact opposite of the actual man, who prizes negotiation and cooperation.
I have made an intense personal study of Putin over the past year, and I have noticed that one of the key frequent words in his speech and writing is “calm,” and another is “reason/reasoning/reasonably.” These are the things he prizes and the modes that he encourages in others.
Tim Kirby, who I follow on Telegram and recommend, says that, even before 2022, Putin’s popularity would have been close to 100 percent but for two things — pension reform, and not being hard-line enough with respect to the Donbass. Thus, it’s no surprise that since the launch of the SMO, Putin’s already-high popularity has soared even higher.
But many, many people, from Aleksandr Dugin to Paul Craig Roberts to millions of citizens in Russia, wish that Putin would be much more aggressive than he has been to date.
If the insane powermongers in the West were to somehow get rid of Putin, I suspect they would NOT be happy with whoever would replace him. “Careful what you wish for, idiots!”
No, to change the world you cannot continue “with more of the same”
медведь = the Bear. Dimitry Medvedev’s map of the future Ukraine says it all. The West must pray every day that Putin remains in power. No matter who would be his successor, this Russian statesman after Putin will be hard and relentless to the enemies of Russia, just like Stalin.
The phrases contemplating the mad equilibrium of Le Petit Roi,
brought to mind an old ribald piece by Mel Brooks.. “It’s Good to be the King.”
I was told the actual saying by Marie Antoinette (“let them eat cake”) was a mistranslation and didn’t mean cake?? Was she referring to chimney “cake” or the expensive elite bread?
Regardless, the sentiments then and now are unmistakably of a continuum. The serfs are being mocked and gaslit even unto Cold, Dark and Hunger. And we must concede the French are primus ante pares in the expression of contemptuous disdain. It puts to shame the stultifying Norwegian nonentity’s “Europe must pay a high price,” or BoJo’s latest visit to “Kyiv” to give the Comedian a Swedish Massage, or the Spanish Defense Minister’s stiff-upper lipped message of needing to endure a “Winter of Great Suffering.” And what is this Spanish fetish for “the need for Suffering?” This has been catch word if not lodestone for Rafa Nadal since 2005.. Are they all stuck inside a macabre Goya masterpiece? Borrell and other minions lined up in last week too, to express need to suck it up..
In the meanwhile Germany returns to its Black Death days, when it was considered sufficient in some locales to bathe once or twice a year.. the stink! As a Russian Ambassador said of the Sun King, “His Majesty stunk like a wild animal!”
Hmmm, is bathing twice in a lifetime in the offing for Europeans?? Also best to avoid the dangerous antibacterial soaps! They are not only unnecessary, they breed resistance and harm entire societies..
Current medical observations are fascinating. I can confirm nose-blindness takes root.. I once lasted ten days without bathing due to treking and camping through the mid-winter New Hampshire woods and frozen lakes. This is not inherently dangerous for the healthy active person in the cold northern climes. The skin oils and grime is actually protective and “seals in” essential body heat.. but God Help the poor civilized soul having to smell such savages.
I have some questions which may impact timelines and Anglo-Zionist plans for perpetual perfidy:
(1) would Russians need any “lull under General Winter?” They have all the tools and logistics to continue the grind. And why give the crazies a rest to dream up more evil and oppression for occupied Ukraine and Russian borderlands? Stalingrad, one of the greatest victories of WW2, did not pause for winter..
(2) It’s also a given the CIA/MI6 combo will be refining non-stop the contours of a massive guerrilla war against Russia in multiple fronts – crammed with terror attacks and all sorts of provocations. This assumes sufficient UkroNazis will exist on the liberated land. Millions have already smelt the new breeze and flown westwards.. Even former brainwashed anti-Russian Russians on Ukie lands are denazified by the unconscionable actions of their gauleiters these last six months. And it assumes sufficient “Wa” will exist in nazi HQ of Oceania (the Japanese understanding of “balance and harmony” NOT the Chinese understanding of the Japanese, lol) to permit CIA/MI6 shenanigans to continue indefinitely. Perhaps internal pitchforks and visiting external hypersonics will result in a loss of focus?
They are calling for a so called dark winter in Europe.
I do not know how significant this darkness can be, but I do know the cold will kill you and the heat will make you go crazy, so unless you live in that sweet spot of Earthly environment, welcome to the real world.
The lull season in the general area of russia/ukraine is spring and autumn when rain and snow turn the ground into thick mud.
No, the Russians will certainly need no lull in winter! Merely some minor adjustments in activities, but the heavy fire activity will go on unabated or even expand. Drone activity will be expanded. Meanwhile all the Russian team get 3 hot meals per day, daily hot showers, warm comfortable beds, warm buildings and vehicles, and high tech warm clothing, and of course limitless access to fuels. The Ukrainians meanwhile get … well, the Poroshenko statement to Donbass in reverse!
“Brioche = cake” “Let them eat brioche”.

I believe that next autumn, Europeans will have another speech with politicians:
We are poor and you are dead!
Seizures are likely to occur this winter, either you freeze indoors and die or, or literally heat up, grab the neck of the nearest politician by jumping or running through the streets and avenues to get satisfaction.
When it’s all over in four or five years, it will remain to rename today’s Europe Asia Incognito Area or Asia Incognito Appendix in the books, just as the center of Africa was when Europeans mapped it.
I’m not Baba Vanga much less Nostradamus, I also don’t have an affinity with the Book of Revelation, but I have a feeling that very bad times are ahead of us, in the next two years, all over the world. :-/

“The murder of Darya Dugina fits (not with the same political dimension) the other murder of Qassem Soleiman, with due proportions…”
———————————————-
A great analogy, thank you.
Both assassinations were geopolitical earthquakes, with expansive waves into time and space, and repercussions that are yet to come. Dugina’s assassination woke up Russia from the slumber of a sleepy town SMO to the realization they are facing a planetary criminal gang whose arm is as long as that of any mafia, willing to strike at the heart of Russia.
Commander Soleimani was a clear and present danger for the empire, the architect of “The Arc of Resistance” that killed the “new middle east” project in Lebanon’s 2006 Summer War. Dugina’s patriotic and dedicated commitment to the extermination of the nazi scum in Ukraine was total, and her visit to the DPR sealed her fate.

Não entendo alguns comentaristas torcerem para Odessa.
No meu entendimento Odessa é russa, ponto final.

NATO’s non-involved involvement/participation is 90%, Russia’s 10%.
@ Pepe
Obrigado, Pepe, as always.
———————————————————————————–
It would be a geopolitical tsunami that would bring into light the role of the neocons in the multiple foreign policy fiascoes the US has faced in the last few decades. Iran, Afghanistan, now Ukraine, are all the works of the neo-cons, they invested billions in the Ukrainian black hole that turned to nothing. And we can pinpoint who has been behind those policies, mainly but not only, the Kaganate of Nuland.
Vassal Europe will be facing another tsunami, La Nina is not giving them a break, the Hunger Stone with its dreadful message carved in 1616, “Wenn du mich siehst, dann weine” – “If you see me, weep,” is visible again. Balancing out Mother Nature, Marshall Winter will come in with unexpected fury. And we can expect not peasants with pitchforks, that’s a romantic feudal image, but peasants with tractors spraying manure to the PTB.
On another note, curious to know what’s your take on the “stans” backstabbing of Russia, with Kazakhstan selling weapons to Ukraine via Jordan,
https://t.me/Slavyangrad/6449
“…The Rybar team congratulates the Beregini hacker group with a powerful joint victory: Kazakhstan officially announced the suspension of military arms exports abroad until the end of 2023 after the scandal we created.
Thanks to our joint work, it was possible to prove that the Kazakhs were actively supplying weapons to Ukraine, supporting open aggression against their own CSTO ally.
The government of Kazakhstan had to announce a complete suspension of arms exports abroad to offset the consequences of the scandal…”

Absolutely on point, as ever. Thanks Pepe!
Escobar, happy to see you write pieces far from ostentatious style (few yeas ago), regardless of what is being said. Not flat, but not too bumpy.
Now on content, just for fun.
«Until we reach boiling point – which will be a revolution or a putsch.»
Easier to see ants dancing Crazy Horse than (the mix of) Ukrainians doing a revolution.
«It may be eons away, but inevitably the average Italian, German or Frenchman will connect the dots and realize it is their own “leaders” – national nullities and mostly unelected Eurocrats – who are paving their road to poverty.»
No. It is simple that math is presenting its bill with some delay.

As for the rest, where the afterword is already known, it is just a question of screening the play.
Thankyou Pepe for another punchy article.
Can we all agree that the RF’s Terms for Peace are:
1 UKR’s unconditional surrender?
2 NATO retracts its architecture incl. membership, military & training bases back to pre-1991 borders?
3 UKR’s permanent demilitarization & denazification?
4 UKR-wide referendums under UN supervision re: regions becoming either independent/reunified with RF?
So it seems to me (after capturing Odessa – which is a given) that leaving a UKR rump is the most contentious point of all, either leave:
– a rump, declared constitutionally permanently neutral, centered on Kiev,
OR
– no rump at all.
I agree with the other commenters here, that leaving a UKR rump only begs for more problems into the future. If US/NATO have access to land, even secretly, they’ll weaponize it – even if its only for PR purposes. i.e. serves as a reminder of “Russian aggression” to the ‘collective West’
This is why I’m in favor of a complete UKR dismemberment on the basis of:
– Novorossiya & Malorossiya go to the RF, in the very least as self-autonomous regions, at best fully fledged RF oblasts, and
– the historical lands returned to Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary & Belarus agreed to at roundtable conference which must be on the basis of ONE-IN-ALL-IN. Think: cat amongst the pigeons
This achieves a no. of geopolitical goals:
– denies US/NATO land access closest to RF
– makes the scourge of Neo-Nazis other countries’ problems
– proves the utter impotence of NATO
– sets an example to any remaining NATO members who want to play the role of irritant to the RF
– sows the seeds of doubt in the minds of other Euro-‘leaders’ as to whether the US can be a reliable security guarantor in the future
– could accelerate the disintegration of NATO – at most, as an organization, or in the very least the removal of member-states’ militaries (reminder: as France did under de Gaulle)
– might even make Poland, Romania, Hungary & Slovakia grateful & eventually allies of RF for returning their historical lands (altho’ after decades of US’s Stay-Behind policy & brainwashing, I’m not overly optimistic of this outcome)
Can commenters here see any problems with the above proposal?
Any thoughts as to why Russia just doeesn’t cut off ALL exports—including rare earth minerals—to “unfriendly” nations? The incremental approach just allows the West to also incrementally escalate, prolonging everything. Although I think Dr. Paul Craig Roberts was wrong to advocate a total blitzkrieg at the start of the war, he is now right that in effect the Russians are now engaging in what can also be called appeasement of sorts.
Probably to still keep it around as a “bargaining chip” ?
A second thought: Putin is significantly enlarging the Russian army. The NY Times, et al., say it’s because the Russian army is depleted (!). But maybe it’s because the Kremlin is preparing for the possibility of a clash with NATO ground forces—starting in, say, the Baltics.
No i think this is just a formality of including the LPR & DPR militia into the regular army framework. Salaries and logistics will need to be raised for them hence the “increase” in the standing army.
They have 140 thousand volunteers, yea, read that again, who are not covered by the state, health, pension, and for families, death benefits…..they all fight on behalf of Russia. He did not increase the size of the military he just incorporated the volunteers in. But it plays good to western MSM propaganda.

Good spot to paste this link: Country’s Militaries by year.
Note the numbers in the countries under the new BRICS agreement.
More have signed into it this past year.

And Türkiye now in process. After all these decades living in the belly of the beast, with its hyperreactive world policy and outlook, it has amazed me how patient Lavrov and Putin have been. For years now. Team America would have bombed some Anatolian cities to dust.
Turks shot down a Russian war plane or two. And later, Putin phones up Erdogan to warn him of a developing coup. Because Putin is Christian? I think that is only part of the answer.
The warning about the coup, and the attempted coup itself took place before the planes were shot down.
I hope Russians understand they deal with the worst scum, Earth could ever produce.
Anything but complete reintegration into mighty Russia will be defeat, in my eyes.
Do Not Leave them One Square Meter. Those who don’t die, must leave, to “free europe”.
Not only Russia must take what was always theirs, but sends the message to the whole planet:
fuckery is over, now we set the stage.
As for abundance, in other words, the parasites are saying: exploitation of the weak is over.
That’s how they lived in abundance for centuries.
I have never doubted that such is the fundamental objective of the special operation. To ensure demilitarization, and the future of the relationship with “the West”, should be the basic goal; without prejudice to continue advancing west, at least in their control.
Without neglect, or rest, every minute, every hour and every day. The devil does not sleep…
We must not forget that the Taurida project was only a part of the “Greek Project” of Catherine the Great and Potemkin aiming at the reconstitution od the ‘Byzantine’ Empire, in fact a confederation of primarily Orthodox countries. That was not a show of Russian apocalyptic ‘ambitions’ to be ‘The Third Rome’, but of the explicit policy of ‘regathering the Russian lands’ but also of the assumption of Russia’s universal role (in its quality of the only legitimate heir of ‘Byzantium’).
The West, of course, alwaya denied the legitimacy if Russia’s Byzantine legacy. It actually denies the legitimacy of a Russian state. It has to be reminded from time to time the hard way that Russia exists. But history shows us that the West never learned.
Actually, I agree with your main points, but you are gravely mistaken in one major area, to say it as nicely as possible. There aren’t Eons left. There is no new age that will Dawn…except for the one Our Lord will usher in – and He will be making His move very shortly. Take that one to the bank, and please get your Bible out quickly. Doesn’t matter whether you agree or not, or whether you think I’m a nut. Do your own research and please don’t ignore Scripture.
The Scripture is very clear:
”Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only (Matthew 24:35-36)
”Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is” (Mark 13:31-33).
”When they [the Apostles] therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:6-8).
It is presumptuous of anyone to say they know better.
Come on guys, you really think all God’s words revolve around a small shit hole on a rather large planet, notice the geography, minuscule made up crap for a bunch of grifters…go read the first two commandments everything else is major Jewish bullshit…..unless you are a Jew, then carry on.
Cheers M
The original bible does not mention Israel, how could it, it did not exist. Seraphim is quoting from the modernised Schofield (Zionist amended) version, which only the brain-dead rapture hoping Evangelicals swallow.
Your ignorance is appalling. The quotations I offered are taken from the KJV version, the closest translation of the Gospels as they are read in all Orthodox Churches. The canonical so-called ”Byzantine text”, otherwise called the ”Syrian text”, the ”Koine text”, the ”Ecclesiastical text”, and the ”Antiochian text”. It was faithfully translated in ”Church Slavonic” in the 10th century and is in use to date. This is the only authoritative Scripture of Christians.
I like Pepe, but he tends to let his emotions direct his logic. Dmitry Medvedev, as much as I emjoy his invective, is a spent force in Russian politics. He is being rewarded by Putin for his loyalty, but he is not a future leader of the Federation. He is brought to the fore whenever Putin wants to demonstrate a hard-line to the West, and while I have no doubt he is accurately presenting the official Russian policy I also know that the RF leadership are rational policy makers, not ideologues.
I do agree with Pepe when he says Russia will not negotiate with the EU and that the peoples of Europe will eventualy turn on their leaders. The former simply reflects political reality; remember Erdogan, Van der Leyen and the one chair? The EU is not a nation; its an association of U.S. vassals. And Pepe is smart enough to qualify the latter with “eons;” I would instead use the word “generations” to describe the pace of change expected.
As an aside, the price of electricity in France is over $1000 per megawatt hour in France and $850 per mwh in Germany at present. By comparison its about $150 in the States and about $250 per mwh in Scandanavia.
As far as the Taurian lands, that’s just another concept in search of followers, just like Novorossiya. They are both rooted in a history not particularly embraced by the people who live there and have been largely erased by 80+ years of Soviet concepts. The RF intelligensia would do well to just root their vision in geography and tie the land to the Black Sea. It will be a more durable construct and aid in future endeavors; Dubrogea is part of the Russian future, even it is a long ways away and tied to Moldova rather than the Federation itself.
Where the future of the Ukraine is concerned, everything West of the Dnieper is gone. Everything, including the left bank. Kiev, Volhynia and Poldolsk are probably destined to be a new Belarus, but who is to say? Both will ultimately be within the Russian orbit, it not component parts of the Federation itself.
Insofar as the Empire of Lies colliloqy, whatever works in the short term, I guess. But at some point Russia will need to remember its European audience if it wants to be the new master of Europe. There are several centuries of ties between the Old World and the New, and the sentiments associated with that aren’t going to disapate. If anything there will be a nostalgia effect once U.S. troops leave European soil, which is inevitable and probably only a generation or less away.
In the interim, there will be some near-terms setbacks. Erdagon will probably be the next Khan and the Chinese are due to take a financial hit very soon. So its probably best not to let Pepe’s vision become too infectious, because its a long, long road from here to there and there are lots of detours on the path.
I sense a business opportunity: buy for $85 in Germany, sell for $1,000 in France. Of course your numbers are wildly wrong.
https://tradingeconomics.com/germany/electricity-price
no idea how accurate this is: https://t.me/intelslava/36110
there are contract prices and spot prices. i know german spot nominations were in the 800s euro range on friday. not sure how that squares with the map
“everything West of the Dnieper is gone. Everything, including the left bank.”
I don’t understand your geography.
The left bank of the Dniepr is east, not west, since the Dniepr flows south . . .
Or, do you mean a narrow buffer strip on the left bank?
Also, what does “is gone” mean? “Gone” for whom?
Oh, and God bless you for continuing to speak the truth! Thanks.
I am heart broken that the people purporting to represent me and my progeny are the very people enacting evil upon the world.

Why wouldn’t the Russian forces continue the operation in winter? There is no logic to this statement in an otherwise good article. The operations began in winter. Russian forces are very capable of conducting operations in winter. There is no indication from Russia that there will be such a pause. Why should there be?
I’m not aware if anyone here has noticed, but the gangsters in Washington just this week are laying the ground work for direct military involvement in the Ukraine. The Pentagon has officially given the operation a name, and has even drawn up ribbons and medals to be awarded to participants. They have even authorized COMBAT ZONE PAY for US soldiers, sailors and airmen. You see, bringing austerity to Europe isn’t all that in the plan, bringing the US into austerity along with Europe is in the cards. This is part 2 of the “Great Reset”. The Covid plandemic was part 1. Anyone who really believes all of this “multi-polar” world BS has been deceived. This is about creating a uni-polar world through digital IDs and a single digital currency. I don’t believe for an instant that Putin, Xi and the others are operating from outside the WEF framework. They are all members, and all had representatives at the last Davos meeting just recently. They are all playing their part prescribed to them by the WEF. didn’t Russia and China follow the directives according to the UN World Health Organization during the plandemic? Didn’t they lock-down like everybody else? Didn’t Russia try to implement QR codes for it’s citizens? {China already has them}. Didn’t Russia and China both develop their own mRNA vaccines and force them on their people? Nothing has changed. They are all following the same play book.
You could say they’re all corrupt, but with the current state of operations in Ukraine and elsewhere being merely simply “which” of the world’s major powers gets to be at the ‘top’ of things (gets the “top” vaunted spot) in the NWO……
Of course, aside from that, your comment here then takes Putin’s claims about some new “multi-polar world order” then with a grain of salt as well….
You maybe correct. I read Edward Slavsquat – Riley Waggaman as well. “They are all following the same play book.”, and I really like Mr. Waggaman’s writing style and interview style. He is the kind of American, if I was working with, I would instantly like, and hopefully go down the pub with.
It doesn’t however mean he is correct, and he certainly isn’t in the same league as Pepe Escobar, who I have found over the last 20 years, is a joy to read, even if I did not understand the word “tertium”
Sure they terrified the hell out of us with covid, and now the deaths of the dabbed are coming in thick and fast, and its still summer in the UK, where we are being terrorised again – now massive coming increases in the price of energy and food – even if you are “middle class”..you will probably freeze and starve to death, but it will be much worse in Germany…
Pepe sums it up brilliantly, but he can be wrong too.
I do understand that nearly everyone in “The West” has been brainwashed, and many jabbed (I personally would not recommend it), but I don’t think it will be quite as bad as Pepe describes…because there are strong signs, that the “elites” – of which there are few in number are starting to worry, cos their propaganda and bullsh1t is wearing off, and when people get cold and hungry, they react, and will do anything to survive.
There is no shortage of energy, and no shortage of food. The “elites” just decided to turn it off, to kill us, long before our time.
“…but inevitably the average Italian, German or Frenchman will connect the dots and realize it is their own “leaders” – national nullities and mostly unelected Eurocrats – who are paving their road to poverty.
You will be poor. And you will like it. Because we are all supporting freedom for Ukrainian neo-nazis. That brings the concept of “multicultural Europe” to a whole new level.”

Whats the possibility of the Total Collapse of all Ukrainian Forces? I mean lay down their arms en masse or large pockets one buy one until its an avalanche of I surrender. Would that happen if the pounding and grinding continues through the Winter? Is there a time when soldiers know the cause is lost and/or ask themselves why should I die for fat naz-Ze (quoting the punisher), his friends and oligarch buddies. Is there a possibility that Odessa would be Russian (again) much sooner than we could imagine?
With Washington’s puppets in the UK already looking to sell underwater drone technology to the Nazis it is a really good idea to remove Ukraine’s access to the Black Sea, this will also effectively make it very difficult for the west to operate there. And, with Poland poised to take over western Ukraine the clown show will be left with only Kiev. So, Ukraine would be like Luxemburg without the money.
Go Russia, go.
“…or some other NATO/Davos denomination du jour…”
The premise upon which this framing is based isn’t accurate, though. This continues to be the analytical elephant in the room, even as we are far enough into the SMO that it simply can’t be argued anymore that China is doing anything imminent against the empire. It’s not a morality play that can be boiled down to some variant of ‘West (bad) vs. East (good)’.
Rather, the main story of global power post-Bretton Woods, and especially post-USSR, is the harmonization of the view amongst most elites including Europe, North America, Japan, and China that there is a win-win to be had through global coordination. It’s an increasingly transnational view. As one concrete example, here’s the UN page on SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and the SDCF (Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework) in China in English: https://china.un.org/en/sdgs.
The alphabet soup of acronyms (WHO, BIS, WTO, IMF, WEF, etc.) sometimes hides what would otherwise be obvious: there are an enormous number of powerful entities with words like united, global, world, and international in their title whose very purpose for existing has become to undermine and override local control, self-determination, human rights, and national sovereignty while shielding any particular decision-maker from transparency and accountability.
The CCP doesn’t oppose supranational structures at any meaningful philosophical or practical level. Quite the opposite, China is involved. Until China either abandons MMT (national fiat currencies) or abandons the CNY-USD peg, everything else China is involved in is a derivative of the imperial/fascist/whatever global power structure.
This is the deeper story about why the empire’s war on Russia is so central. The RF is the one nation other than the US and China that is powerful enough (sovereign enough) to have the ability to act with some agency independent of a generic global consensus on any particular topic. If the empire can get Russia either to dissolve from external pressure (unlikely but a fun lottery ticket for the more psychopathic neocons) or disconnect from the Eurolemmings and ‘Western Civ’ to view things exclusively through an ‘Eastern’/Chinese lens (increasingly possible), then Beijing and DC will have successfully divided the world in two. No individual country among the ‘85%’ across Africa, Latin America, or Asia would have any meaningful say in the matter (until deep in the future, of course, as unsustainable grand central planning of that variant ultimately runs its inevitable course of decline just like every effort before it…)
That’s the goal most consistent with Chinese and Western actions to date, including the ongoing caution of the RF in being sandwiched between the two domains: not a ‘Eurasian integration’ of peace and freedom, but rather, a divided Eurasian landmass with ongoing low level conflict and predatory elites so that the elites on one side can whine about people on the other side any time a particular domestic population within their sphere of influence gets too uppity and complains about their own rulers rather than the rulers on the other side.

One is a statement from an employee of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, a Nuclear Engineer. Another, about the attacks on the same nuclear power plant and the dissipation of radiation, including maps.
The situation is dangerous, RF is able to suppress the attacks but, probably, they are leaving the thing as it is.
Perhaps at some point an inert gas that can simulate to observation satellites a radioactive cloud arriving in southwestern Ukraine, with everyone in terror leaving the region, could save a lot of ammunition and lives.
It’s just something that crossed my mind…

It’s one thing for those countries to “want to join Zone B” it’s an entirely different scenario if they “will join.”
As you may know, for the last several decades, the US system has has an army of diplomats and very savvy “salesmen” who have gone into Africa, Latin America, parts of The Middle East and Asia and heavily bribed both politicians and the wealthy few in those countries. The US then uses the IMF and The World Bank to offer large amounts of loans, with the crucial understanding that said nation must cut labor wages, and other social service sectors. Result: they become heavily indebted to the US for loans to merely survive.
The other crucial aspect in “wanting to join Zone B” involves establishing a World Bank, and an IMF completely divorced from those two monolithic foundations. You also have to set up an easy flow of different currencies whereby the US can not get its hands on them. China, Russia, India, and a couple others have that fairly well established, but they have yet to set up an IMF and World Bank completely severed from the US $$$ system.

Good point.
They are called “the economic hitmen” as in John Perkins’ “Confessions of an Economic Hitman,” whose role is to generate and exploit the corruption of the ruling elites in what they term LDC, “Less Developed Countries,” through which they exert political, economical, and social control over Zone B countries.
See description below.
https://archive.org/details/ConfessionsOfAnEconomicHitman_257
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man reveals a game that, according to John Perkins, is “as old as Empire” but has taken on new and terrifying dimensions in an era of globalization. And Perkins should know. For many years he worked for an international consulting firm where his main job was to convince LDCs (less developed countries) around the world to accept multibillion-dollar loans for infrastructure projects and to see to it that most of this money ended up at Halliburton, Bechtel, Brown and Root, and other United States engineering and construction companies. This book, which many people warned Perkins not to write, is a blistering attack on a little-known phenomenon that has had dire consequences on both the victimized countries and the U.S.

The banking/financial infrastructure is being developed on a par with the BRI, BRICS +, EAEU, etc., and it is functioning as I write. The AIIB,

“…With over 100 members at the end of 2020, the AIIB has become the second largest MDB after the World Bank…”
However, there is much work to be done in this area, the potential is there but needs to be developed, and I believe new possibilities will open with the tectonic changes Russia’s challenge to the rules-based order will bring.

“the wealthiest region on the planet.”
The key consideration of “wealth” is to this day not discussed on television. What does this increased wealth and territory portend for a nation that was already the largest and richest country in terms of natural resources? The richest land in Europe outside of Russia is being added to it. This question is/was more important than the “free membership” issue, which is made even a moot issue by the answer to this question. Even the idea that Russia’s motivation or resolve will diminish under Ukrainian pressure fails to take this wealth issue into account. Motivation and resolve must be the last things that are lost if you are a State conquering the wealthiest 20%-30% of Ukraine.

A BLACK OPS UNIT TO HUNTER FRENCH DISSIDENTS?
👉🏻 The media Rybar reports on a case with potentially major consequences for French politics.
🔎 The media was able to interview a (former?) member of the CPIS, the clandestine cell of the DGSE in charge of illegal / immoral operations abroad.
▶️ The soldier reveals that for at least the past few months, the unit’s missions have been on French soil and consist of surveillance and harassment of political opponents.
▶️ He explains, among other things, that the CPIS is responsible for burglary, assault or damage to the property of specific individuals, making this look like common and untargeted crime.
▶️ Indeed, these operations are particularly targeted. They do not seem to be aimed at well-known or media personalities, but rather at little-known but very active activists who could become key elements of populist or revolt movements in the months to come.
▶️ The military cites targets in at least two movements: LFI (far left) and E&R (far right anti-Zionists).
✊🏻 These two movements are among the first to oppose Macron and mobilize many people, including former “Yellow Vests”.
🤨 The fear of the French intelligence services is probably that these movements and their militants serve as the embryo of a future anti-Macron, anti-EU and anti-NATO populist movement, fueled by the inflation caused by the COVID-19 policy, sanctions against Russia and green policies.
📌 Rybar’s information could not be verified at this time but France has a very long history of similar actions, so it seems credible.
🕴🏻 What is surprising is that these black operations on French soil are carried out by the DGSE and its elite unit. Normally, these operations are carried out by the DGSI and the police.
📰 It would be interesting for French journalists to look into the matter and investigate. But the French media are almost all in the hands of Macron’s friends…
Can you give us a few links to the source for this?
thank you!

Russia needs to change the format here from a “Special Military Operation” to a full fledged balls-to-the-wall offensive in Ukraine. A long war here is not in Russia’s best interest. They need to take Odessa and close off Ukraine from the sea before the West aggressively places Forces in Odessa to defend it. After Odessa falls they can put the squeeze on from three sides as they move to Kiev and the Polish border.
