An AngloZionist attack on Syria appears to be inevitable and imminent. There is always a chance of a major pushback from some putative mentally sane, realistic and patriotic generals in the Pentagon, but I am not holding my breath (I asked two of my best informed friends about that, they both told me to forget about it). Counting on those who have made a life obeying orders to suddenly refuse one, and wreck their career in the process, is naive. Besides, most of what we now have at the Pentagon are not Admiral Fallon types, but rather the same “an ass-kissing little chickenshit” type à la Petraeus. They might not push for a confrontation with Russia, but they will do what they are told to. The commander of CENTCOM recently said just that (“we will do what we are told“).
However, what kind of attack options the US Neocons and their Israeli pals will chose is probably what is being debated right now. Here are the basic options
1) A repeat of last year’s attack on the Syrian Air Force base in Shayrat. That would be by far the best option and that would allow the Neocons a face-saving, even if entirely symbolic, “look how tough we are” option. They might as well strike the same T4 base the Israelis did a few days ago, just with more missiles. And, just to make this look all very “democratic” they might ask the French, Brits or Israelis to participate in that attack.
2) It is too late, militarily speaking, to try to reverse the situation on the ground, but hitting more Syrian Air Force bases, communication nodes, air defenses, etc. is definitely an option. Following such an attack, the US allies on the ground (the “good” and the “bad” terrorists) would go on the offensive and the Syrians and their allies would struggle to “plug the holes” thus created. That would not fundamentally change the outcome, but would prolong the chaos and associated bloodbath.
3) Attack the Iranians. This is a grand favorite with the Israelis and the Neocons, but it is also a much riskier option because if the attack is successful, the Iranians would have a huge number of potential US targets to chose from to retaliate, as would Hezbollah. Still, that would placate the Iran-haters, at least temporarily, and it would allow Trump to show how “tough” and “great” a guy he is.
4) A full scale attack on the Syrian military and on the government (including Presidential facilities). We are talking about hundreds of cruise missiles in the first wave. Targets would include not only purely military targets (ammo dumps, troop concentrations, etc.) but also the “regime support infrastructure”, i.e. civilians and that which makes civilian life possible: power plants, water purification, communications, bridges, roads, ports, schools and hospitals (“camouflaged regime objectives”) etc. Basically, that is what the US/EU/NATO did to Serbia and what the Israelis have done many times to Lebanon: murder as many civilians as possible to make them pay for supporting the “Animal Assad”. A time honored Anglo and Jewish tradition, by the way.
5) A deliberate attack on Russian and Iranian positions in Syria to “punish” them for supporting “Animal Assad’s” chemical attacks.
Of course, a combination of the options above are possible. Roughly speaking options 1, 2 and 3 might (conditional) remain manageable. Only option 1 is (relatively) safe. Options 4 and 5 are absolutely insane and are likely to result in an extremely dangerous escalation.
Let’s look at it from another point of view.
What would be the goal of a AngloZionist attack?
I think that we can all agree that nobody seriously believes that a actual chemical attack took place and that everybody knows that this is a (poorly) staged false flag predicted by both Nikki Haley and the Russians weeks ago. As for a full-scale reversal of the outcome in Syria or a reconquista by US/NATO, these are not militarily speaking realistic options.
So then what is the point?
1) Internal US politics: Trump wants to appease the Neocons and looks “tough”.
2) Make the Syrians, Iranians and Russians pay for defeating the “good” and “bad” terrorists.
3) Appease the always bloodthirsty Israelis and create a nice pretext to renege on the nuclear deal with Iran.
4) The need to act on the rhetoric (that one is often ignored, but the fact is that when a regime spews a constant stream of paranoid and hate-filled nonsense about another country, it eventually has to do something about it. Speaking of “Animal Assad” and do nothing about him just does not look good for The Donald).
5) Some hope to actually kill Assad (unlikely, the integrated Russian-Syrian air defenses will warn him of the attack).
6) Re-establish, by means of example, that the USA is still the biggest and baddest guy out there and that neither Iran nor Russia can do anything about it. Scare Russia and Iran into submission (I know, this is a stupid notion, but Neocons are not very bright!).
I think that we should not over-intellectualize all this. Frankly, I don’t think that the folks in the White House are very bright and that their level of planning is roughly similar to “if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail”. What they have is a mental hammer: the desire to lash out, to strike, to hurt, to punish. Just hatred and infinite arrogance.
As to where and how the hammer will strike – your guess is as good as mine.
Attempting to predict the actions of delusional psychopaths is an exercise in futility.
Besides, we will find out very soon.
The Saker
UPDATE1: RT reports that Russia and the US are both submitting resolutions to the UNSC. Both resolutions demand an international investigation; the OPCW announced its decision to dispatch a fact-finding mission to Syria. RT is also reporting that one Russian newspaper has declared that a top level Russia-US meeting over Syria is scheduled for next week. Maybe, just maybe, this insanity can be stopped?
Doomsday Machines.
At the conclusion of his 1964 film, Dr. Strangelove, Stanley Kubrick introduced the concept of a “Doomsday Machine”—designed by the Soviet Union to deter nuclear attack against the country by automating the destruction of all human life as a response to such an attack. The movie’s Russian leader had installed the system before revealing it to the world, however, and it was now being triggered by a single nuclear explosion from an American B-52 sent off by a rogue commander without presidential authorization…

Taking the World to the Brink.
Western neoconservatives and hawks are driving the international situation to increasing tension and danger. Not content with the destruction of Iraq and Libya based on false claims, they are now pressing for a direct US attack on Syria.
As a dangerous prelude, Israeli jets flying over Lebanese airspace fired missiles against the T4/Tiyas Airbase west of Palmyra following reports on Sunday of a chemical weapons attack in Douma, a suburb of Damascus under rebel contorl.
As reported at Tass, the Chief of Russia’s General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, predicted the alleged use of chemicals almost a month ago. The report from March 13 says, “Russia has hard facts about preparations for staging the use of chemical weapons against civilians by the government forces. After the provocation, the US plans to accuse Syria’s government forces of using chemical weapons … furnish the so-called ‘evidence’ … and Washington plans to deliver a missile and bomb strike against Damascus’ government districts.”

Damascus by Elijah J. Magnier: @ejmalrai
For the first time since he is in office, the US President Donald Trump has launched a clear threat in the direction of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin saying “he will pay a price”.This menace is related to the claim that the Syrian army had launched a chemical attack against the city of Duma, in eastern Ghouta, the last stronghold of Saudi Arabia’s proxies close to Damascus.
Trump is maybe thinking of bombing the Syrian Army positions spread throughout the Syrian geography, or perhaps even the Al-Muhajereen President’s palace in Damascus- of course, without necessarily saying when and where his army will strike.

Sunrise in Damas, still nothing, probably for next night..or not?
I cannot tell my friends we are on the brink of Nuclear War
Honestly ….. they would be in danger of serious injury from laughing
I am not laughing ….. I am reading the western press with increasing despair
As one of the 99% I know my welfare, and the welfare of my family is not of the slightest concern to those in power
I have been reading the Global Times editorials for many years now
Recently the tone has changed. The subtlety is missing in action. I believe it is because they have come to understand that those in power in the west do not do subtlety …. they only understand naked power
The Chinese, like Russia are calling the west out …… “we do not want to fight, but we will and the resolve of the Chinese and Russian people is stronger than the resolve of those in the west. Both China and Russia know pain from war …. and they know what sacrifice is needed to win.
From today’s Global Times:
‘The US-Russia tension runs high over the alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria, while the US seems banging the drums of war in Syria using the same old pretext of chemical weapons.’
…. using the same old pretext
Nothing indirect of subtle about that
Recently, on the Taiwan issue, the Global Times editorial spoke of a military solution.
With North Korea a few kilometres from Beijing, I believe China is ready for war if war is forced upon it.
Trade or nuclear, the Chinese people will not take a step back.
The west completely misunderstood Deng Xiaoping. He did not turn his back on Communism, he harnessed capitalism to make China great again.
Wearing a silly white hat and smiling and smiling while the west patronised and patronised was all part of a long term strategy ….. and China does long-term on a scale un-imagined in the west.
Now China and Russia are standing up to an increasingly erratic America ….. the outcome????
Hope I am completely wrong and my PC-Greenie ‘nice’ friends are right …… I will happily be labelled a conspiracy nut if it means no war
» … we are on the brink of Nuclear War … I am reading the western press with increasing despair «
Dear Graeme, take heart. I had also been taking the bombastic nuke propaganda seriously, until I understood it was all phantastic fake and fraud in 11/2015.
And precisely because I had been taking the nuke hoax seriously, I have a sincere dislike for nuke propaganda, and also some for the well-meaning fools who help spread it. Well, actually, nuke propaganda is mostly funny and interesting to me as a phenomenon, but some people are liable to be negatively affected by it, and that’s bad, hence the dislike.
These well-meaning fools are a bit like the miserable creatures who’ve been convinced by some Church that they’re “bad” and “guilty” and spread the word to others to multiply their psycho misery. They may not see it like that because their belief is sincere, but they don’t bother to investigate, they don’t bother to question, they don’t check their assumptions, they accept the Nuke Propaganda as Gospel, and that is their Foolishness.
Do not despair. It is unhealthy.
No harm will come to Australia because it is not a “theatre”. Greetings from Germany.
Nuke hoax exposed by Anders Björkman
I don’t think that Saker and his loyal followers appreciate just how bad is the situation that the Russians find themselves. The Americans are about to rub the Russian noses in their own s–t at a time of their choosing, and in a manner which they choose.
The US is taking its time -about 2 weeks or so- to amass its armada, to develop its target list, and to prepare its sequence of fire for maximum effect. And all the Iranians and Syrians can do is to watch and wait, and then to take their punishment, all the while hoping and wishing, but then despairing, once they recognize that Russians will not/can not stand up for them.
It does not matter that the Anglo-Zionist Empire is evil. We all know that. It is a matter of when will it be fought.
“It is not for them to reason why. It is for them to do and die.” “If not now, when? If not us, who?” If the Russians do not join with the Syrians, Iranians, Hezbollah, and Hamas in the Fight against the Americans, Israelis, British, French and Saudis, the resurrection of Russia as a world power is finished!
A couple of weeks ago, before the chemical explosions in Douma took place, General Gerasimov warned the United States/NATO that the planes and ships (and presumably submarines), which launched missiles against the Syrian forces, would themselves be attacked by the Russian military. Well, already the Israelis have defied the Russians. Who will be next? And when?
More than half a lifetime ago, I served in a “tripwire unit”, at the forward most point in the Forward Edge of the Battle Area (FEBA) (or the “Frontier of Freedom” as the propagandists like t call it). The men who served in the Berlin Brigade were in the same position. It was widely understood by both Americans and North Koreans at one end of the Eurasian landmass, and by both Soviets and Americans at the other end, that total war between the two sides would start at the moment that one side attacked the other.
It is time that the Russians draw their own “red line” in Syria . . . and mean it! I truly believe that the men of the Russian military are up to the challenge and are prepared “to pay the price, to bear the burden, and to render the sacrifice”. (So also, I believe, are their American counterparts.)
The Russians must impress upon the “chicken hawk/chicken s–t” neocons that the lines are drawn, and that they are real.
The US , Israel and NATO have become desperate and that’s real bad. I will put my thoughts in point form for simplicity.
1. The first false flag occurred in August 2013 (it was promoted by bibi).
2. The second false flag occurred in April of 2017.
3. The third false flag (actually a staged event) is the Scripal event . Where no proof or evidence is provided or permitted
4. The fourth (staged event) is the latest Douma event where point number 3 is also applied.
5. The reason for 3 and 4 is to protect the perpetrators from being exposed for who they are (liars) ;in the eyes of their own citizens . Hence the absolute need to keep on the ‘offensive’ by threatening the RF and Syria even more in order to distract from the ‘truth’.
6. The road to Moscow has not changed .It is through Damascus and Tehran.
What are the options for point number 6
1. As the Saker says : shoot down as many missiles in a defensive posture similar to Khan Shekoun if this is the outcome then it will embolden the West and more attacks and false flags will keep following .
2. Respond as General Gerasimov said . Attack all the launching platforms involved and hit the West real hard.
3.In order to fulfill number 3 the RF will have to send reinforcements quickly .They may need some Iranian airbases for this ( the MIG 31’s would be very handy ).
4. The Iranians will have to consider the consequences if Syria falls as they would be next on the list (this was a point that Trump was making during the election campaign) and now with Bolton it will definitely get worse.
Is the West going to change its long term goals for her Hegemony and Israel’s plan for aggrandisement , I think not .
Russia and its allies must make a stand.
PCR shares the Saker’s concerns:
https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2018/04/09/threshold-war-paul-craig-roberts/
In my opinion only… the US attack on Shayrat last year was a ruse, green-lighted from both ends. The NeoCons and/or the Deep State (or whatever they’re called) were at Trump’s front door so he needed a chest-thumping event to manifest a commander-in-cheif bull-dog image. So the plan was to bomb something, anything, and overnight for even greater effect, so we’d all wake up in the morning shaking in our coffee cups… “That guy’s got balls.”
To pull it off, both the Syrians and the Russians had to be in on it. Placate the NeoCons, placate the MSM, and placate the Hillary-to-War voters/supporters… there’s a newer and tougher guy on the block. And so they agreed upon an innocuous air-field way out on the back 40 to be the trajectory target of dozens upon dozens of hard-earned taxpayer dollar cruise missiles in which half were shot down and the remaining half striking nothing of strategic importance or value except for a few empty rusty barrels. It was a good plan for it bought all sides more time to deal with the real nasties of paid-for mercenary occupation and the process of stealth elimination, but time has a way of running thin and the wolf eventually comes back scratching at thedoor.
So now Trump is being forced to make a decision, not a deal. Does he attack Syria or does he lay back. I believe he’d rather choose the latter but he will have to go with the the attack model, but it’s fraught with catastrophic consequences. Enter Putin, the Russian Federation, who has warned the West that “enough is enough”.
I think that we’ll have a two-part solution:
• Trump will select Option 1, “look tough”… hit something, somewhere and,
• Putin will select Option 3b (not listed)… as retaliation, hit the Israeli air base
where the two aircraft lifted off from.
Sounds crazy but it has some merit. Trump wins “tough” once again,
and Putin lifts Bibi onto the world stage to reveal that he recklessly, and on his own volition, attempted to provoke a war that could have ultimately destroyed the world. The next move would be taken on behalf of the US and NATO and they would be most unwilling to proceed. It would be far easier to distance themselves from Bibi and Israel.
Just saying.
How many more false flags can there possibly be left to use at this point, before arriving at a moment of no return? The earth has been both devolving and advancing in this direction from my birth, to millenia prior as far as I can tell.
And taking into consideration the deliberate and calculated series of recent events that have culminated in these late”chemical attacks,” the plan is set in motion and it’s reaching a crisis point going all the way back through so many unanswered provocations. mh17, the russian jet, etc.
Go into the bag too many times, and if you don’t lose the minimum level of credibility, certainly there’s a risk of stressing and fatiguing and whipping up into mass hysteria the bare minimum required consensus for a cassus belli? Otherwise your western government risks losing “face” entirely.
There must come at last a time where it has by necessity to be, at least according to a totally misguided perspective held by a great many persons and instiutions at the forefront of decision making it seems? I too wish and hope that it could be otherwise, but it may just be wishful thinking. . .

I say Russia take back Alaska.
It would blow the American prestige.
Yank neocon heads would explode with rage.
I dont speak in long theoretical terms but little boy Trump has a single choice. Either obey Netanyahu and potentially spark global confict or be a man and save face with threats of the now 2 carrier battle groups in tbe Mediterranean. No harm just words but looks good to the American idiot and averts real war.
7) Launch WW3 as a depopulation project.
8) Take things to the very brink (perhaps a few ships sunk) so that the world would turn to world government as a solution.
if the Americans hit the Syria, and the russians and syrians do not strike back, they will acknowledge the guilt for the so-called chemical attack. then America would win a double win. the only wise decision would be after the start of the american attack that Syria proclaim no fly zone throughout its territory and proclaim americans for enemies and occupiers. and begins to shoot at them. why would anyone care for the world whether it will sink into chaos and fire which cowardly look at American moves? so no one except the russians and maybe two of the three countries are behind Syria because others have panties full os sh*t because of Americans. the UN is afraid more of americans than a nuclear war. so be it. People have grown up and let them decide.
very good point, but at the edge of global confict brains as well as beleifs must work. A very dangerous moment that scares me and Im a thug.
I had a thought, and my thought was as follows: This actually reminds me of the Cuban Crisis. Khrushchov was forced to withdraw Soviet missiles from Cuba and things died down.
Today’s noise hast two goals:
1. The West is trying to force Putin to stand down, and if he does not to force an internal putsch by his people.
2. Force Russia to surrender Syria
So basically to force Putin to cave in. Unfortunately I do not think that Putin will be forced repeat what Khrushchov did. The Twittie man will be forced to either act or stand down, and if he does act then we pray.
Make sure you stock up on non-perishable foods, maybe enough for one month.
I believe it went something like this:-
“If the fight is inevitable then strike first and strike hard.”
The fight is inevitable. Russia has no option in that regard.
If not today, then tomorrow. So may as well nip it in the bud now.
If they launch missiles take out the missile launchers. Their dead will speak louder to those careless sheeple than any reason, any Russian – anything else.
Knowing nothing about military matters i however have read decades ago a thing or two in Le Monde or Le Monde diplomatique that stuck in my memory.
One was an article about the Irak war pointing out the fact that Opération Daguet in 1991 came close to catastrophy. (No mention about that in https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Op%C3%A9ration_Daguet apart from a clue in the logistics section, i.e. “two showers for 800 men, during 5 month”.)
The other article named complains by the French airmen that they had had to fight Serbia using old methods because the USA had turned the GPS off for their NATO-“allies”.
That stab in the back helped convince Germany to, at very long last, join the Galileo project (which is not yet fully operational https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo_(satellite_navigation) ).
Anyhow, turning the GPS off for one’s “allies” in wartime tells a lot about who is really what. I guess that the French military won’t ever forget that, even if their present boss is far too young to remember the insult.
Considering more recent lay articles stating that the French military is streched, and that it’s hardware is in dire need of maintenance after hard continued service, i wonder what Macron can actually offer, more than words and posture, in the medium run of a conflict. Even if MBS was going to fork out (France is broke, debt over the chimney’s top), military gear is not produced at the same speed as croissants and baguettes, and technical personal takes time to recruit and train.
(Some shot down Rafale would not help winning the current Indian procurement contest, either.)
Russia should declare that they will destroy every part of Israel if Russians got attacked in Syria. Russia knows Israel is the head of snake but keep pushing the tail which is USA. Not smart move
There can be no conflict between America & Russia end of story and the reason is well known and it’s called “Mutually Assured Destruction”… (MAD). Currently the situation militarily speaking is that America has by far and away the largest and most advanced military machine in the world and would win any non nuclear conflict with any nation or nations no problem. However in the event of a nuclear conflict with Russia both America and Russia would be completely destroyed in so far as that all their major cities, and military bases would be completely wiped off the face of the earth. As of now, neither side has an effective missile shield against intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMS). These ICBMs travel through space to their target at speeds that are too fast to be countered by missile defense shields, also each ICBMs carray Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicles (MIRVs) and each one of these MIRVs have nuclear warheads many hundreds of times more powerful then the Atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. The ICBMs can carry up to 20 MIRVs each. Now these ICBMs can be launched from mobile units, underground silo’s, planes and Nuclear submarines and so even in a massive and largely successful preemptive strike it is highly unlikely that all of these launch sites and vehicles will be destroyed before they can launch their ICBM missiles. At a conservative estimate Russia has roughly about 4500 ICBM’s and even if America by some fluke had its best day ever in the battle and knocked out say 90% of these ICBM’s that would still leave 450 Nukes successfully reaching their targets which is more then enough to hit and wipe out every single city and military base in America and kill maybe 90% of the population, and even if America wiped out 100% of Russia you got to ask yourself was it worth it??? You have got to understand that the Russian S400, the American Patriot SAM and the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Missile Defense) missiles are all highly overrated and are not as successful at intercepting incoming missiles as we been lead to believe. You have got to understand that during a conflict each side will launch many hundreds of decoys to overwhelm any missile defense system along with electronic counter measures to further degrade their effectiveness and as a result a significant amount of missiles launched will make their target, there is no technology that can protect you. The horror of a nuclear conflict is well beyond what any of you can imagine, it would make the combined destruction and death of both of the previous World Wars seem tame and puny in comparison. There is no safe location in your country that you can hide in from the nuclear fallout from such an exchange. If you love life and your children and your country, you should really insist that your government does not lead you into the war that nobody can win. Do not let your media fool you into believing you can survive such a conflict; remember that’s why it’s called “MAD”.
The attack will start when (or if Putin sits Dow to dinner with Trump.
No one can trust any agreements made with anyone in the present US administration, not even anyone in the administration itself.
When Trump says he wants to work with Russia Nikki Halley contradicts him.
Putin should refuse to meet until it is made clear by the US admin who is really deciding foreign policy.
There is novalue in meetin Trump if he is not the real boss! ;-)
Russia will be demonized whatever it does, doesn’t do or says so might as well get some truth out by demanding an apology from Niki Halley for her statement “we will never trust the Russians” before any meeting can be set up.
In other words draw the prestitutes into a discussion on trust that will expose them for what they are.
