Syrian War Report – August 8, 2019: Army Makes Fresh Gains In Battle For Northern Hama
On the morning of August 7, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Tiger Forces advanced on positions of radical militants in northwestern Hama. During the day, units of the SAA and the Tiger Forces liberated the villages of Arbeen and al-Zakah.
Government troops also cut off the supply line between the militant-held towns of Kafr Zita and al-Lataminah and increased artillery and air strikes on positions in this area.
Kafr Zita and al-Lataminah are the key strong points of Jaysh al-Izza and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) in this part of the so-called Idlib de-escalation zone.
On August 5, the Syrian Armed Forces released a warning to militants that, if they continue to violate the ceasefire regime, the SAA would have to resume military operations. On August 6, violations continued. So, since August 7, the SAA has been conducting active actions to push radical militants out of the supposed demilitarized zone around Idlib.
It’s expected that in the coming days he SAA will continue its advance aiming to liberate Kaf Zita and then al-Lataminah.
On August 7. Russian warplanes destroyed two militant early warning posts, known as the 20th post and the Eagle post, in northern Hama. Opposition activists acknowledged that four militants, including two commanders known as Abu Jalbib and Abdo al-Nasan, were killed in the strike.
Such posts are usually stationed in plain sights. They are used to monitor flights of Russian and Syrian warplanes and warn militants throughout Greater Idlib of possible airstrikes on their positions.
On August 6, a Kurdish rebel group, the Afrin Liberation Forces, announced that its forces had killed 13 Turkish-backed militants in operations near the town of Marea and the village of Brad. Over the past month, the AFL has carried out a series of successful operations against Turkey-led forces in the Afrin region.
Turkey and U.S. have concluded their talks on northeastern Syria with an agreement to establish a “peace corridor” in the US-occupied region, the two countries announced in a joint statement on August 7.
The sides agreed on the following steps:
- “the rapid implementation of initial measures to address Turkey’s security concerns;
- to set up as soon as possible a joint operations center in Turkey to coordinate and manage the establishment of the safe zone together;
- that the safe zone shall become a peace corridor, and that any additional measures shall be taken for our displaced Syrian brothers to return to their country.”
The Turkish Anadolu Agency claimed that the joint “peace corridor” will be 30 to 40 kilometers deep in northeastern Syria. The state-run agency said that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the People’s Protection Units (YPG) will be moved out of the “peace corridor” and forced to surrender their heavy weapons. The irony of the situation is that these two groups, very hostile towards Turkey, are the core of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces that technically control the region. Therefore, the implementation of the agreement will likely face some serious difficulties.
Erdogan and the US have colluded (not concluded) an agreement to keep Syria balkanized. It serves Turkey’s interests to have the Kurds occupy Syrian turf provided they have fewer heavy weapons (especially anti-tank) and stay 10 or 20 klicks from Turkey’s border which now is inside Syria.
Of course, the Syrians will not accept this as de facto and settled.
It will probably take until 2021 to settle this with arms, but Russia and Iran cannot allow Syria to be segmented.
The Turks have al Nusra and Uyghurs in Idlib and vicinity as their proxies. The strategy for these tens of thousands of dead-enders is to bleed the Russians and Syrians and Iranian proxies while holding turf for the Turks.
The US has SDF Kurds and some Arab tribesmen mixed with leftover ISIS fighters as proxies to hold the North and East natural resources (oil and water). In the South at al Tanf the US has 2500-3000 ISIS fighters retrained as saboteurs to disrupt whatever land bridge the Iranians attempt to build and use to get arms to Hamas and Hezbollah.
Then there are the disgruntled rebels who were used to start the “civil war” in 2011 in the Southwest along the Jordan-Israel zone. They are now using IEDs to break the de-escalation zone agreement among Russia, the US and Jordan (with Israel). Qunetra and Daraa will be continual hot spots for years. Israel and the US use these rebels whenever they want to create bloodshed for Syria and threaten the Russia military police who patrol the zone.
Syria won back the big cities and most of the West of the country. But everywhere else there are more wars to be fought. War with Turkey, with the US, with the Kurds, with the rebels, with deadender ISIS and al Nusra, with various AQ groups, and with Israel. The horrors of Syria are still manifestly huge.
And then there is the Golan Heights where the outlaw Israelis have named a settlement “Trump Heights”.
Makes you wonder how much US military will have to be fought by Syria to take back that and all the Golan which the United Nations has long determined is Syrian territory.
Syria 2.0 is another ‘long war’.
The question is, where will Syria get the manpower? While it is true that if NATO stops meddling then Syria will win, the bottom line is NATO will not stop, so Syria must somehow get more troops. Iran seems like the only source; neither China, India, Pakistan, nor Russia (apart from its base defenders) have shown any interest in deploying multiple divisions required to defeat all of those entrenched enemies within Syrian territory. (For what it’s worth, I think China has a vital interest in destroying the 5,000+ Uighur terrorist brigade with its own PLA divisions.) Syrian refugees across Canada, USA, & EU are clearly not interested in returning to Syria to fight.
I do wish that the Chinese would send some specialists to Syria to aid in the elimination or capture of Uighur jihadist butchers, allegedly the worst of the worst of the salafist vermin. Then they could put them on trial in China, so that the true nature of the Uighur terrorist international can be shown to the world. Intelligence on their links to the USA and the West and Uighur exiles would be invaluable, too. I know that the Western fakestream media sewer will suppress all such information, but it will slowly percolate out, if there are any non brainwashed Western plebs left in existence.
Then they could put them on trial in China, so that the true nature of the Uighur terrorist international can be shown to the world.
Any captured Uighur terrorists would, of course, need to be thoroughly interrogated first, with any useful evidence shared with Damascus, Moscow, & Tehran first, & eventually made publicly available at the United Nations.
Once the suspects are ready for trial, I actually think the International Criminal Court would be more appropriate, because it would remove any excuses of bias. Furthermore, with such a high profile trial not even CNN could ignore it; and even if they did, at least one outlet from a Moslem majority country would cover the story. Finally, restoring faith in international institutions will give a major boost to the legitimacy of international law.
“Once the suspects are ready for trial, I actually think the International Criminal Court would be more appropriate”
LOL, that would be giving the criminals control of the justice process. The icc is terminally tainted meat. Putting that corrupt freakshow in charge would guarantee that justice would be perverted. That is the job of the icc. Perhaps yours, as well, in the promotion of it.
Like I said, China would have all of the evidence for the world to see. It’s not as if China would ever let the Uighur terrorist on trial enter China ever again. Even if there’s any miscarriage of justice, the ICC would be permanently discredited. Finally, even if ICC somehow found the terrorist innocent, are you so sure the Jeffrey Epstein fate will not happen to this terrorist?
“Even if there’s any miscarriage of justice, the ICC would be permanently discredited.”
You mean like their miscarriage of justice in regard to Serbians “permanently discredited” them?
LOL
While we’re at it, maybe we can make “human rights watch” and “amnesty international” official UN arbitrators of human rights oversight…
You peole are a scratched record.
“if there are any non brainwashed Western plebs left in existence.”
Some of them are passing by over here…
Cheers!

US to Withdraw Troops From Area of Turkish Operation in Syria – Ankara
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201908081076503766-us-to-withdraw-troops-from-area-of-turkish-operation-in-syria—ankara/
“US President Donald Trump has promised to withdraw US troops from areas of Kurdish-controlled northern Syria where a Turkish operation will be taking place, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has announced.
“In a telephone call with our president, the US president informed us that the US would be vacating the area. We will discuss the question of coordination after the withdrawal takes place. The agreement with the US on the creation of a safe zone is a very important first step,” Cavusoglu said, speaking at a press briefing on Thursday.
The foreign minister added that Turkey would not allow the US to delay the implementation of a safe zone under any circumstances, and has shown Washington that it is prepared to back its words by deeds. “Either we do it together, or we will be able to do it ourselves,” he said.
“Our decision is to create a safe zone so that there are no terrorists there from the Syrian Kurdish self-defence forces and the Kurdistan Workers Party. But we will not allow this agreement to be turned into the [US] Roadmap for Manbij,” Cavusoglu noted, referring to the Turkish-US security agreement negotiated last year.”
IE: Turks replacing israel’s pindo gofers and the kurd mercs. The israeli’s kurd proxies refused reason:
“However, in February, Bouthaina Shaaban, an advisor to Syrian President Bashar Assad, said the kind of autonomy the Kurds were asking for was impossible, since the country is a multiethnic and multireligious “melting pot,” with all citizens “equal before Syrian law and the Syrian constitution.”
So the Turks are to be sent in to sort them out. What zionazia wants is for the Syrians and their Russian, Hizbulla and Iranian allies to confront the kurd zionazi proxies directly. This would give zionazia the pretext it needs to do an Iraq war number on Syria, or at the very least, substantially increase nato involvement, which is lagging now.
Since Syrian, Russian, Hizbulla and Iranian military ops against israel’s proxies is out, who best to do the deed? Turkey, obviously, a nato member. Will israel, america, uk openly attack Turk forces? Hardly. The “safe zone” deprives zionazia of a considerable portion of Syria they now occupy.
The strategy on removing the zionazis and their proxies involves a slow process of incremental advances. First the proxies are pushed out of the border regions, condensing them into smaller territory, then the process continues, further squeezing them out.
BTW, those kurd proxies, working under israel’s pindo colonials, seeing the americans agree with the Turks on reducing the area of kurd proxy control and giving it to their Turk enemy, will be somewhat disheartened about their role under american control. That can only be a good thing. ;-D
