Fighting global terrorism in its myriad forms or incarnations, be it fighting ISIS, or Al-Qaeda, or Jhabat-al-nusra, or Boko-haram, etc., is like fighting the tentacles of the hydra, you cut off one tentacle and two tentacles replaces it. This is the wrong strategy to use and the good peoples of Syria, Iraq, Russia, etc. who are fighting these tentacles are simply exhausting themselves and their resources. The killing blow must be delivered to the head of the hydra, all other strategies are useless, and the head of the hydra resides in Washington, nuff said.

    • abel kotze on May 15, 2015  ·  at 8:03 am EST/EDT

The head of the hydra is proxy Yahudi Arabia, who is now being setup for a coup by puppetmaster AngloZionist empire to protect fracking in USA. Unless this is delayed until after the fall of Syria (they wish).

    • Purple Library Guy on May 15, 2015  ·  at 8:35 pm EST/EDT

Mangled metaphor and impossible strategy. First, the hydra has many heads, not tentacles.
Second, you can’t just make war on Washington. Their supremacy in the ability to wage war is the reason we have these problems in the first place. Nor would “decapitation” in some “Whack the top people” terrorist approach work any better for the imperialists’ foes than it does for the imperialists themselves in their “kill the leaders” tactic of trying to wipe out Al Qaeda (the parts they aren’t trying to use), the Taliban etc. As long as the system remains, the figureheads at the top are interchangeable. Contrariwise, as long as injustice remains, those bearing its brunt fight back and find new leaders if old ones are eliminated.

Syria has little choice but to fight. It may be true that as long as the main beast is strong, hacking at heads in itself does little–but when the beast is already upon you, it’s better than letting the heads eat you. As to a real solution . . . the issue is not heads, but the main body and heart. They are heavily armoured and way back there behind, letting the many heads do the fighting. But the monster attacks because it is ravenous; its appetite is infinite, partly to feed those many heads, mostly to add huge useless gut. It cannot be attacked, but it can be starved or poisoned.

I’m reading a book about Imperial Spain. It’s derring-do fiction but has some trenchant social commentary, and one passage reminds me . . .
“And in the midst of all that corruption and madness, moving against the course of history, like a beautiful, terrifying animal that still slashed and clawed yet at the heart was eaten by a malignant tumor, our poor Spain was worm-eaten inside, condemned to an inexorable decadence . . .”
The modern United States pulls all that off except the “beautiful” part. The one thing setting the US apart from all other empires of history must be its massive vulgarity. But I digress . . . Russia and China are forging commercial ties with one another and with others that bypass the United States, starving the beast. And the US is assisting the process, because the tumor of its billionaire elites is sucking the nourishment it does get away from the ordinary people who do useful work, wasting away the beast’s muscle and sinew.

Helping the hydra defeat itself by starving the beast is the only way to true victory. Unfortunately it’s a slow process and in the mean while you have to keep all those heads from eating you.

      • know the truth on May 16, 2015  ·  at 2:14 pm EST/EDT

        @purple library guy

Unfortunately you are right in your analysis, and my mistake regarding the hydra, I keep mixing it up with the mythical monster slayed by Jason, you know the one who turns you to stone when you look at her the medussa the gorgon.
Anyway all that aside I do deeply believe it is the ultimate fate of America to be destroyed by nuclear weapons. At this stage I am unable to say if it is going to be one country or a group of countries acting together but it will surely happen.

The world owes much to the heroic resistance of the Syrian people.

    Hmmm,
what about a real steady and tough Russian support of allies/friends?!
Or just overlooking from distance as it was with Serbia? Just playing it´s games again, or call it bluffing.
This way they cannot hope for winning friends, no wonder Cuba, Iran, Turkey etc. will turn away in RF will be on its own.
    Or I am wrong…

you mean involving in three or four sites in the globe where the evil EMPIRE
places their hating violence and greed.
And if Russia does it, the evil empire creates three or four more in order to attain the same result, with russian resources and help until it gets unsustainable…
No, that is the wrong strategy, that ´s is what washington aims at.

Question to all who comment here:

who is the violent oppressive dictator ?

Bashar al -Assad who can stand amongst his people,up close and vulnerable.

Vladimir Putin who can stand at the front of 100,000’s of his people with minimal protection at the immortals march.

Q: can Obama? or Cameron ? or Hollande ? what about Merkel ?
    Nuttyahoo ?

    you work it out!

    • oldnik007 on May 14, 2015  ·  at 6:20 pm EST/EDT

i noticed that too on a number of occasions.

on one of their holidays was a picture of Assad,
sitting on the ground, eating from a communal
platter with a group of ordinary soldiers,
not generals. eating with their right hands
      as is customary.

    • alan on May 14, 2015  ·  at 7:37 pm EST/EDT

Ah, Obama would say something like:
“They will kill us for our freedom”, and of course, many would believe him.
Such is the world in Twilight Zone.

I like Assad. He seems like a kind man. But in this video he seems weak, talking so much about martyrdom and with such a small crowd. And if he truly called Erdogan a butcher, isn’t he aware that his ultimate backer, Russia, signed a deal with Turkey as a gas transit hub? As a child (I’m now 75) I was regaled by stories of Christian martyrs in Rome’s colosseum, eaten by lions. It made me a fearful recluse, not a brave fighter. The Empire just salivates more when it sees a weak victim. Here in cougar country, they say not to turn and run like a weakling but to stand up with hands outstretched (and I assume slowly walk backwards).

    • Kat Kan on May 14, 2015  ·  at 10:56 pm EST/EDT

These are not sad victim martyrs. He’s using the word to mean HERO, but hero who died. Hero who is a martyr because he sacrificed his life for the good cause… protecting his homeland. Exactly like the “hero grandfather who fought fascism” the Russians all celebrated on May 9.

At the beginning he called the crowd children of martyrs, and referred to them studying to take up arms themselves. I got the impression it was some sort of military school, possibly behind him as the crowd didn’t look too “military student” to me. .

  8. Peter J. Antonsen on May 14, 2015  ·  at 11:05 pm EST/EDT

One must listen closely to the speech by Syria’s President, Bashar al-Assad.

Assad gave a short emotional tribute to those and their families who have sacrificed so much for the freedom of the Syrian people.

Those who wish to destroy, utterly, all existence of Syria and its people, include, The United States, England, the Zionist Land Thieves, the Turkish Oligarchs, Saudi Arabia, and the myriad of colonial subject peoples within NATO. The mere continued existence of Syria, considering the lineup of its enemies, is a miracle.

Most of that miracle lies in the Heart and Leadership of the Russian people. The remainder of that miracle lies in the Syrian Army (already warmly tributed by The Saker), and an incredibly stubborn Bashar al-Assad. He just won’t run. He could live comfortably in Switzerland, but he: just won’t abandon his people.

They say you can judge a man by his enemies.

    That was a lovely speech.

For the Democratic Republics! Here and There!

    Me too.

Wow. This is the first time I’ve seen/heard Assad among his own. You’d think they were all his actual relatives..wonderful to see.

No wonder the Syrians have lasted so long, despite the constant attacks.

I hope he’s heard Nasrallah’s latest assurances – totally sincere and with real affection.
His has such a benign, calm warm personality, Assad must find it quite therapeutic to hear..

There is a real unity emerging in the region, now that they all, Shia and Sunni alike are faced with the Wahhabi menace: even the Christians are joining in!!

Don’t tell me we’ll see Jews – particularly Sephardi/Mizrim (sp.?) /Ethiopian – joining in next?

    Stranger things have happened..

    :)

I hope I am wrong, but given that Iran/Russia/China reluctant to openly support Assad by providing arms and military bodies or even do something diplomatically, I think Assad and the Allawites could be in severe troubles.

    • Anonymous on May 15, 2015  ·  at 1:00 am EST/EDT

      Alan,

Iran & Russia have been providing arms since the beginning. Russia gives diplomatic cover. Russia & China stationed ships nearby when US threatened to bomb during the false flag “chemical attacks.”

And probably much more that we don’t know about. Turkey overtly supporting Saudis against Syria is a set-back though. However, I think there’s no risk of Turkey getting involved on the ground. US has been urging them to forever, but they’ve always said not unless US is directly involved too.

    OT
Regarding the US threats to confront China in their construction of manmade islands from rocky outcroppings, China has answered:

Global Times affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party has warned in an editorial today,

•If Washington takes this dangerous step, it will be nothing but a blatant infringement of China’s sovereignty, and the U.S. can expect potent countermeasures. If it gets worse, the South China Sea will see a showdown between China and the U.S. … Washington will be too naive to think that China will exercise forbearance and self-restraint in that scenario. It should keep in mind that China is a major power with nuclear weapons, and there is no way that U.S. forces can take reckless actions in the South China Sea. Considering China’s proximity to this area and determination to defend its sovereignty, the U.S., although equipped with the strongest military forces, will stand no chance of overwhelming China.

I guess we’ll find out if non-diplomatic language works!

    • Uncle Bob 1 on May 15, 2015  ·  at 6:42 am EST/EDT

If they did say that, good for them.If the US gets the message, maybe war can be avoided. But there is no doubt the US will push right to the edge of a crisis ,its their MO every time.Their hubris is so strong they can’t conceive of any power truly standing up to them.A China with Russia’s support can do it.And a Russia with China’s support can do it.Its the Empire’s worst nightmare,a real alliance between those two countries.

      • Seamus Padraig on May 15, 2015  ·  at 2:20 pm EST/EDT

Of course Uncle Scam will keep escalating. And then when the inevitable occurs, they (and the pliant corporate media) can always accuse China of ‘starting it’. Very much like what they did with the Japs (1937-41).

Thanks so much for the coverage on Syria. It’s as much of a convergence point in the battle between earthly/heavenly powers as is Ukraine (and as Strelkov a year ago referred to Slavyansk).

May Heaven help the brave souls who do battle & face harm for the rest of us.

US to Call Russia to Stop Syria’s Reported Use of Chlorine Bombs – Obama

The United States will reach out to countries like Russia to stop Syrian President Bashar Assad from reportedly using chorine in bombs because such a practice might have the same effect as chemical weapons, US President Barack Obama said at a press briefing.

Why the hell would any of those patriots leave their homelands after their immediate troubles are over?

I hate it so, when these jewish pain-in-the-world theories materialise be they from whichever “side”…

Leave people the alone, to fight their own battles, forget about spreading democracy, or it’s opposite, don’t anyone stick their long noses where it doesn’t belong, and this sad planet of ours might just make it around the sun a few more times.
