Dear friends,
I am about to hit the road and do what I like most: jump in the car with my wife, leave everything behind, and spend a couple of days in the Florida wilderness. God willing, we will be back on Friday.
In the meantime, I want to leave you with a few short notes:
1) Podcast: there definitely was some kind of glitch in the 2nd part of the podcast and I had no time to detect it. Lesson learned: it was a mistake to leave the post with questions open until Friday 18000 GMT and hope to get the podcast ready my Monday. The next time around, I will leave three days to post questions (Monday-Wednesday) and then I will use the remaining time (Wednesday-Sunday) to prepare the podcast for release on Monday. From now on and until the new blog is up, I will release on Soundcloud, Mediafire and Youtube.
2) My “homophobic video“: from a comment posted today I realized that some of you had not realized that the person sitting next to the cop is not a a woman at all but, to quote the official dogma, a person manifesting a “normal and natural variation in human sexuality and is not in and of itself a source of negative psychological effects”.
3) These past couple of weeks I have been bombarded with people accusing me of endorsing Šešelj or of “discrediting” or even “abandoning” Strelkov. What these critics apparently fail to understand is that I can discuss somebody’s views or situation without necessarily endorsing or betraying that person. As it happens, I have no personal opinion whatsoever about Šešelj and I have the utmost respect for Strelkov. My view of the world and of people is not binary, black or white, and I like to freely analyze and discuss ideas, situations and personalities. If you are too stupid to cope with that kind of diversity of approaches, then I suggest you avoid my blog like the plague because I sure intend to continue to do that.
4) The “Putin is weak and beaten” chorus is not letting up. I personally explain that by too much exposure to the corporate media which is constantly presenting Putin as beat, isolated, humiliated and otherwise broken. Since these comments never come with fact based and logically presented arguments, I don’t see the point if trying to refute them.
5) Novorussia: today Foreign Minister Lavrov spoke during a Q&A at the Duma and he also mentioned the possibility that the economic blockade of Novorussia by the Nazi regime in Kiev (which basically stole the money of the people of Novorussia) could be a prelude to a Ukrainian attack. I am personally convinced that the recent statements of Putin and Lavrov about this possibility are designed to prepare the public opinion of Russia and, to some degree, the EU to situation in which Russia might have to intervene to stop such an attack. The situation right now is extremely dangerous, but not hopeless as I am sure that there is a lot of pressure put upon the junta and its US bosses by Russia and other countries not to attack.
6) US elections: I am not a US citizen, so I don’t get to vote anyway. If I did, I still would not vote. The choice of a lesser evil is still a choice for evil. It is also a de-facto endorsement of the legitimacy of the system. Can I recommend to those interested in this issue to read an old post of mine entitled “USSR 1974 – USA 2007: back to the future“?
Okay, that’s it for today. I am off to my beloved wilderness with wifey. See you all in a couple of days!
The Saker
Part 2
————————————and now …here is the thing,
Using a combination of FX & futures, trading paper contracts, which are mostly settled in cash, big players are able to ‘game’ the price of a currency or precious metal,up or down in terms of a particular currency, usually the US dollar.
The carry trades are very popular,in both currencies and precious metal paper trades,
arbitrage or the spread, between two items. While this may seem legal, essentially this is a zero sum game, with one party a wnner and the other a loser.
But!…. many of these big players are sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, hedge funds….and are all looking for + % yields in a 0%
world of ‘central banks’ policies.
Soooo.. to the Ruble,
You will notice that Russia is a ‘Net Creditor’ as a Sovereign nation, they owe less, than is owed to them,+ gold, silver, uranium deposits, iron, alluminium, you name it and they have got it!.
They have vast natural resources, unspoilt tundra, taiga, huge forests etc etc… also… 1/3 of the worlds fresh water, located mostly in Lake Baikal….yes they have pollution around some smelters, but Russia has 11 or so time zones! it is vast!,
That is why America and it’s vassals…wanted to take it and rape it, ever since 1991,….Vladimir Putin took it back!!.
And what does America have ?? $18,000,000,000,000 national debt + 200,000,000,000,000 [thats right.. Trillions!] in un-funded liabilities. They have 50 million people on food stamps,100 million people on social security benefits, medicare, medicaid….
A totally dys-functional economy outside of the Military/Industrial/Complex and it’s Prison Industry ,the Governments of Russia and the other BRICS members understand, they… ‘get it’ the US continues to exist as a world power, simply by the existance of the petro-dollar and the reserve currency status of the $US.
In 1986 the Ruble was 1 = $1, what is happening now, is that political theatre has taken over from financial reality, just as,a totally bankrupt state like Ukraine, dictating on the price of the gas it buys… to it’s supplier!..I should be so lucky!
Vladimir Putin is a trained, qualified lawyer…At present, contracts for oil and gas, written as payable in $US, will be honoured.
As & when contracts are renewed…??.. my guess is that Germany & Italy will be able to pay in goods, the others pay in gold!.
If Serbia,Hungary,Bulgaria and the other ‘Warsaw Pact’ countries resist the US/UK pressure and colour revolutions, they will get good deals…’South Stream’ goes through! and Ukraine leverage… [aka, blackmail]… fails!
The euro currency is a disaster! set up as a ‘strawman’ to the dollar system, the EEC[European Economic Community] was working well……referred to as the common market in the UK,probably working far too well, to suit the US/DC mad people.
The Euro currency, reduces nation sovereignty to zero! ,so does TPP & TTIP,Russia and China understand all this! however the people of the so called ‘West’ do not yet! some do,and are currently voting in petitions, which will probably be ignored or legally challenged.
Democracy is an illusion!..if you vote, you only give legitimacy to totally corrupt, immoral, psycopaths,If you study the corporate media coverage of issues, anywhere! these media are in lockstep!,a political playbook! what more proof does anyone need ?
I hope that some of the comment will be of use to you,
Caveat Emptor! … latin for… “let the buyer beware”
To Yonatan @ 11.11 …20-11-14
I watched President Putin closely on that video and listened to every word carefully.
Previous viewers claimed he was nervous!, total rubbish!, he was clearly de-hydrated from flying…as I have been!.. drinking is not a sign of nerves [such as buying time ] or other US/UK spin…those who doubt, try it!..fly 12,24,hours and see how much you drink!!.
Next.. body language….relaxed…..glad to be back in Russia!.
Then.. the interviewer..clearly a sympathetic person…no attack!..valid questions, answered concisely.
He knows exactly what he is up against!….
my conclusion……..He & et al…. are finished with the Americans and it’s sycophants and client states!.
Britain and America have gone a ‘Bridge too far’ …hubris is more virulent than Ebola !….
My solution ….. Germany,Italy,Japan should sign a peace treaty with Russia and request a constitutional conference!.Forget Romania!.
That will put the cat among the pigeons.
Caveat Emptor!
Joat: I think he is preparing for the worst while leaving room for moderation. I think a key point for Putin was the deliberate shooting down of MH17 in order to frame Russia. He saw then that the Anglo-Zionists have no scruples about ordinary people.
@Penelope
Germany seems to act as part of EU, and not so much by herself. EU accepts US leadership, especially in security/defense matters. And EU has Poland and Baltics to do all the required screaming.
(There are indeed several “enemy State” clauses in the UN Charter;– but why do you think USA tries to pull those strings? Why than Russia cannot do the same?)
@Peter J. Antonsen: Who needs those alternatives, why you guys not just run in real elections ? Lyndon LaRouche party already runs campaigns for many years saying that Kennedy was last good President; and he consistently gets under 1 % of the vote. (Adding Mossad, or aliens on flying saucers, is not going to improve it much, —-I hope).

@ Grieved,
Q: Gold
R* Rusia has bought 150 metric ton of gold this year alone.
As I and other forum members have pointed out, choose your opponents very carefully.
Turning every MSM headline into a PM Putin = evil/satan barrage of demoralized diarrhea, completely misses the point of what he actually does; outmaneuvering the West every step of the way. This is the Russian equivalent of moral Aikido.
The west will bleed, you will bleed, but the 0,01% will laugh all the way to the bank and just order another brand new Gulstream 600.
@ Dutch,
Q: Dutch government refuses to release contents secret agreement between Dutch and Ukrainian government.
R: Your country used to be the most liberal place on the planet. What went wrong?
Its politicians were bought out at Davos etc.
Recently the Dutch have repatriated a significant proportion of the gold they had stored in the US whilst the Germans were told to take a hike when they asked for their gold to be returned. Why the different treatment? The secret agreement allowing the real cause of MH17 to be hidden away perhaps.
@ Penelope,
Q: Germany…
R* You might add to that list the fact that the German flag is still turned upside down.

Red

The Original Flag of the German People vs the False Flag of the FRG / BRD.

What happened to those great excerpts from Carroll Quigley by Anonymous? Censorship?
a very recent article on Steinmeier
Europe Veering From US Abyss Over Russia?
Finian Cunningham (SCF) : It’s long overdue but better late than never that Europe might just be back-pedalling on America’s aggressive agenda towards Russia. The business-like visit to Moscow this week by Germany’s Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier suggests that Europe can come to its senses to seek a diplomatic resolution of the escalating tensions over the Ukraine crisis – tensions that could spark a wider continental war, or worse.
http://nsnbc.me/2014/11/21/europe-veering-from-us-abyss-over-russia/
From a recent interview with George Soros:
“Speaking about anti-Russian sanctions, imposed by the EU and other Western countries, the billionaire stressed their political importance. About the fact that the West is affected, including German entrepreneurs, Soros said is their own fault, because it was foolish for them to invest money in Russia, because Russia was and is not a country ruled by law, but by self-will”.
In Serbian lingo, good old George is getting unglued.

Grieved said…(in part):
Regarding your other response at 23:40 to the posting of the Russian article on Russia and China trading in gold – I’d like to explore this point about currencies and gold a little further.
Your own Lehmann article reminds us and illustrates very clearly that as soon as a sovereign leader goes for a gold standard he or she gets whacked.
It seems to me that if gold is this important, it would be well to take it very seriously as a sovereign instrument. To me, the Russian article suggests just how seriously Russia and China do take it – and how powerfully this may upset the global balance of power vis a vis the US Dollar.
Yes the two nations are trading in their own currencies, but gold has been offered as an alternative. They may not need to trade in gold, but they can if they have to. In other words, gold – real, physical gold – is backing their two currencies, purely between themselves at the moment. What does the Ruble have to fall to, relative to the Dollar, for China to want gold, or an adjustment based on gold? And vice versa – I’m not knocking the Ruble. Imagine this parity spreading to BRICS and more nations. Where does the dollar fit in the transactions then?
This is not to say that gold has a value, so much as it is to say that fiat currency by its nature has zero value. Someone posted here recently that fiat currency is debt. True enough. If gold can act as the fiat killer, then it also acts to kill income from that debt.
Grieved, Just a few points for your consideration, this is not intended to be an all-inclusive response.
Back in 1999 or so a poster came on the Kitco gold forum with apparent special insights into the international gold market. His handle was Another, and he had an associate, Friend of Another. You can find information on them via a search. Early on he made two profound statements, that oil and gold never flow in the same direction, and that only the oil market was big enough for gold to hide in. Both of these items have immense utility to mankind, oil for energy and gold for money. Accordingly it is fair to say that these, and the petrodollar are of the highest strategic importance, no doubt worth fighting over.
On your second point, consider this. Gold is priced in dollars, and dollars, rubles, yuan, etc. are priced in gold. As long as gold bids on the currency, the currency has value. When gold is not offered at any price in a currency, it is finished. Thus, gold gives the currency value, not the other way around.
Now, to me, your last statement about gold being a fiat killer and killing income from the debt, is the most important. Gold represents an is a positive value. It does in no way represent an obligation of any other entity, or creditor government. The fiat currencies represent a negative value, a debt. The dollar has been called an IOU nothing, as it is irredeemable except, ultimately, for more paper. Now, you can not pay or satisfy a debt with a debt. The debt can only be transferred to the receiving party. Only gold can truly satisfy a debt.
You have got to hear this! Michael Hudson is always very blunt & outspoken, but this podcast was something else.
http://michael-hudson.com/2014/10/think-tank-memories/
The beginning is only the lowdown on some of the US thinktanks. The really hot stuff begins about 12:50. He knows a lot. Even when he’s over-the-top outspoken he is reliable. You just have to hear this.
Hi Saker !
Off Topic, but I noticed at RT that there are all these rape allegations of Bill Cosby. I asked a friend who might know about the “real deal” with this poor guy…
She thought it was nothing but NBC trying to get out of a contract….

Russia is not trying to kill the dollar. Even less trying to kill the United States.
The idea of taking over the whole world is a US one. Let’s not attribute the same aim to those who are now fighting against that.
BRICS is about CHOICE — a silly crazy idea that is also the basis of DEMOCRACY.
Any idea that gold or roubles or yuan will be THE new trade money is just as silly as the dollar being it.
The point of BRICS is that everyone can buy with whatever money they happen to have. That way they don’t have to change their money into dollars (for a fee) and the vendor doesn’t have to change those dollars back into his money (for a fee) with the US making a profit on every breath the whole world takes.
Totally killing the dollar (a) reduces choice (b) destabilises the USA internally — and a 330 million nation falling apart is of no benefit to the world.
Americans are starting to ask how come the “richest country in the world” owes so much? and is unable to pay its debts? If those debts were on IMF loans, USA would have been declared bankrupt years ago.

Daniel,
Nothing ‘went wrong’, it only means that the Dutch are the total lapdogs of the Americans, like all the protestant nations of NW-Europe. Exactly like Serbia is the ‘lapdog’ of Russia. It is a matter of heritage.
Officially NATO is an organisation, based on two ‘equal pillars’, an American an a European one, and the Europeans hold the position of secretary general. But the last three were a Dutchman, a Dane and now a Norwegian, just to make sure that in reality America is in control. Even I was (unpleasantly) surprised by the level of subservience the EU displayed towards the US. I have always been a supporter of the EU, in the hope that it would emancipate from Washington and become a new ‘superpower’, and under Chirac and Schroeder and their Iraq policy, together with Putin, for a moment it looked as if that was happening, but with the current set of losers, this hope has been dashed.
https://deepresource.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/putin-schroeder-chirac.jpg
(This picture btw symbolizes what Putin really wants most: strong cooperation with France and Germany. That’s why he invited de Villepin to Valdai and invited Steinmeier into the Kremlin a few days ago)
Historically, the Dutch can be seen as the cradle of the US: protestantism, capitalism, central banking, judeophilia. Present day America grew out of two competing New Netherlands (Nieuw Amsterdam, sometimes misspelled as New York) and New England (Boston):
http://deepresource.wordpress.com/2014/11/03/the-inspiring-streets-of-new-york/
Even the famous Declaration of Independence was largely copied from a much older Dutch document:

The Netherlands is even more pro-America than Britain. Here 200,000 ethnic Dutchmen in the AMsterdam Arena, celebrating America in 2012. You won’t see these kind of things in Britain, let alone in Germany or France.

Literally everybody speaks English, to a level unprecedented in continental Europe.
Moscow has warned Washington a potential policy shift from supplying Kiev with “non-lethal aid” to “defensive lethal weapons”, mulled as US Vice President visits Ukraine, would be a direct violation of all international agreements.
A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that reports of possible deliveries of American “defensive weapons” to Ukraine would be viewed by Russia as a “very serious signal.”
“We heard repeated confirmations from the [US] administration, that it only supplies non-lethal aid to Ukraine. If there is a change of this policy, then we are talking about a serious destabilizing factor which could seriously affect the balance of power in the region,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Aleksandr Lukashevich cautioned. “Final warning” from Moscow?
Surely if lease lend warships from US is confirmed these count as lethal weapons? Black Sea fleet could easily blockade destroy such warships should there be any cross border violations etc, innocent civilians would not be killed-remember Uk infameously destroying french fleet ww2 cos of fear Nazi’s could use them, French defect.
The Dutch Central bank quietly repatriated 130 tonnes of gold from New York. Strange, Germany only got a few tonnes back.

Help! News wanted!
Dear fellow community members, since roughly yesterday novorossia.today is offline, at least temporarily.
Where can I find English-language news on what’s going on in Eastern Ukraine?
Are there any recent sitreps?
What’s going on on Crimea, i. e. supply of food and drinking water, electricity, gas etc.
Any pointers (not to MSM or “Kyiv Post” and other Ukrop propaganda) are highly appreciated. Thank you.
Wordsworth: The World Is Too Much with Us
The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon,
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers,
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not. –Great God! I’d rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathèd horn.
Something unexpected has happened: the US has given gold back. No, not to Germany but to the Netherlands.
Connection with the MH17 cover up? The Dutch are leading the ‘investigation’.

To Penelope 21-11-14 @ 2.41,
Part 1.
That was a great podcast, thank you.
Some points may be of interest to yourself and others on the topic of gold.
China is the biggest miner of gold, followed by Australia,Russia and the US,
An analyst by the name of Koos Jansen does good reliable work, often shown
on BullionStar.com, also GATA http://gata.org/node/14757.
The gold mining output of both Russia and China is not allowed to be exported
last year China mined appx 430 tons, imported gold goes to Hong Kong as
the old British port, but much more is imported from refineries in Switzerland.
Most of the HK gold goes to the mainland, some comes back as jewellry.
By law all gold in China must be sold through the Shanghai Gold Exchange,
some HK bought gold comes in as ‘scrap’ and is re-refined before acceptance.
Last year the SGE sold 2,197 tons of real shiny yellow stuff,…not US paper!
Last year they overtook India as the biggest buyers in the world, due to pressure
put on the politicians,to make it harder for the people to buy…but
the US/UK cb’s do not understand Indian marriage culture!….no gold! no wedding!
Lazlo Toth @ 02.07 made some fine points,’ANOTHER thoughts’ and FOA
‘Friend of Another’ can be found archived on Micheal Kosares site ‘USAGOLD’.
Gold has no counterparty risk, it ‘clears’ debt.Since the breakdown of the Bretton Woods system in 1971,[“the Nixon Shock”],there has been no settlement of international trade.
It can be difficult for people to understand this,I put it this way…..
Suppose you work and provide a service,or produce a good, you expect payment.
You get paid with a debt instrument …$,pound euro…until you spend that cash you have not really received payment.
If you have a surplus[savings] and the purchasing power of that cash goes down [price inflation], then you have been ripped off….you lost part of your labour.
An earlier response to Grieved…
I left some descriptions of how Treasuries and their Central Banks fight to support their currencies.
Higher up this thread you left info about France..and of course it is also tied to the murder of Gaddafi, who was introducing a gold dinar [4 grams]and silver dirham…
he had to go!
same is intended for Russia, they are talking about a customs union gold coin, and a gold ruble, maybe like the British sovereign[7grms],
also Saddam was in on the gold dinar idea…crystal eh?
cheers

Part 2.
About Germany… yesterday someone left a link to a short interview( 3 mins) in which Paul Keating,a former Prime Minister of Australia discussed the G20 and Russia.
I will have to paraphrase..he said “after the fall of the soviet union basically the USA blew it!
the status of Russia was never ‘settled’ “.
Now we can see how their minds actually work!….he continued.. “It took two world wars to establish Germany’s ‘status’ “…..what he is saying is ‘status’ vis-a-vis The Empire.
With sources now, that were unavailable at the time or top secret,we can now see that
up and coming Japan had a ‘status review’,starve it of oil and force it into a war of survival.
A blockade is an act of war,as are sanctions, recently I read an article stating that the British blockade of Germany(a competitor)starved many there to death,to the extent that by 1918,
there were more people dying at home than on the front line!.
The British and Americans started the oil embargo and created conditions for America to
enter the war,the Japanese carrier fleet could have been intercepted, but instead of warning
the base commanders, they deliberately allowed the people to be killed.
Create enough outrage and the ‘Casus Belli’ is achieved. Just like 9/11 ..or 911,no one ever
remarks about that date being the same as the emergency call number?,my point is that human life is of no consequence to these psycopaths.
More ships can be built, buildings rebuilt, women can have more babies!….as Micheal Hudson
was saying about the White House water strategy, high grain prices to reduce African people,
the poor!.
The Anti Russia trading act 1933,refusing the only things they had to export, caused mass starvation.Hunger always makes people compliant …lawmakers?..these creatures are really
monsters!.
Keating also said “Russia is a great country ” and the inteviewer,a real sleazebag, interupted
“surely you don’t mean Putin?”,Keating …”oh no he’s a shocker!”…
Micheal Hudson on ‘the lucky country’…no no no!.
I lived there from 1974 and was present during the coup against Gough Whitlam,in three years
he did more for Oz than the previous 23 years of the Menzies governments.
He created Medibank which became Medicare, and other great initiatives, when he was ousted
by Sir John Kerr (a CIA asset),instead of re-electing him,the young stupids abandoned him over the issue of East Timor.which he could do nothing about.
Just as in the Ukraine, the CIA works on the same premises as the national secret services.
In 1975 I started work at the University of Sydney part of my work involved contact with the students, being new to the country, some of the students warned me..don’t go near that
building over there!…that is the ASIO/CIA/MI6 building, that was where the CIA arranged
the coup,Whitlam had suggested that ‘Pine Gap’ could be closed if America got too ‘antsy’.
As we now know these agencies infest and watch any group or individual who may be a
possible threat to the system, also they always find students somewhere,to do their work.
“What goes around, comes around”… California and all the western states are bone dry.
The Colorado river no longer flows to the sea,Lake Mead is emptier by the day and yet
Las Vegas is still building.
Fracking pollutes the groundwater…oil below $80 a barrel and the companies cannot
service their debt…everything about the USA,is beginning to look like Detroit.
It is perhaps America’s turn for a ‘status review’?,
cheers.

Strelkov is just stating the obvious and not hiding in the bushes. If not him, there would be some other guy in charge, with a different name and face, but still little change in substance. “Donbass region would have remained at peace, much as did Kharkov and Odessa”. You must be kidding me. Odessa is in peace??? After people murdered in Trade Union building, and the rest terrorized by Right Sector thereafter??? It is not much better in Kharkov, there are partisans, and a lot of anti-Kiev sentiment is suppressed by fear of storm troopers. “Liberated” areas of Lugansk and Donetsk are not really pro -Kiev either. Kiev-appointed Governor Moskal stays gloomy about situation there, for quite a while.
Ukraine’s “missing gold” mystery solved. According to Businessweek, they just sold it.

Almost a month after the elections, Kiev has finally worked out a coalition…all the usual suspects.
The coalition comprises the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, the Popular Front, Samopomich (Self-Rule), the Radical Party, and Batkivshchyna (Fatherland).
May take another week or more to work out a cabinet, first Rada session not expected until Nov 27.
Supposedly their aims include joining NATO and regaining Crimea.

Poro advisor says Poro lied about the “Wall” being 80% complete. wonder how much of the money went missing?
http://www.rg.ru/2014/11/20/stena-site.html
Another megaproject Poroshenko is a fiasco. This time Kiev acknowledged that “the Wall”, which Ukraine wants to dissociate itself from Russia, no money, and the already built areas leaky and inefficient. That is, the government of Ukraine is simply buried in the ground budgetary millions, which, according to the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, not even enough for a full heating Ukrainian households.
“Really anything to build, only we, first, there is no money in full. Secondly, some areas actually occupied in building the shaft on this site?.. Need money, this is a huge investment in the construction of these barriers,” said today the Advisor of the President of Ukraine Yuri Biryukov.
This revelation Kiev official has not ended. He added that it had built defensive structures are unlikely to be very advanced, “They will be in some places, probably primitive, but it all costs money.”
previously on the topic
It turns out that EA has publicly admitted his boss – the President of Ukraine – in fact deceived Ukrainian taxpayers, and part-time and voters. Recall that on 4 October Petro Poroshenko solemnly announced: the Wall project has already been completed by 80 percent.
Of course, we can assume that it sycophants officials deceived his President, telling him tales about the readiness of the “strategic asset”. But the Advisor Biryukov finally had the courage to open Poroshenko eyes to the real state of Affairs. However, given the catastrophic financial and economic situation in Ukraine, only completely naive person would believe that Kyiv is currently able to implement this mountain project. Recall that the total length of the Russian-Ukrainian border with consideration of line segments that are currently controlled by the authorities DND and LNR, more than two thousand kilometers.

I’ve greatly appreciated the comments and information about gold and currencies from Lazlo Toth, Joat, Penelope and others.
As with all fields founded on obfuscation, things like real money, gold, currencies and fiat debt are not going to be explained by those who truly understand them and run the world using them. We have to figure it out for ourselves, and any discussion reveals how easy it is to have a piece of the puzzle exactly backwards.
I do respect the words of Another, from the Kitco forums, and I’ve thought that the flows of gold to Russia and China are in many ways simply a reflection of the gradual shift in power globally. The world is kept stable by its owners with a balance of gold that reflects the balance of power.

For the record, I don’t look for anything like the “collapse” of the US dollar, just an ending of the hegemony. All the US has to do is learn to accept the demise of its greatness, and adapt to become part of the new multipolar world. Much of the agony of these death throes is in the hands of the US to make easier or harder – pretty scary for those of us living here, and the rest of the world for a few more years yet.
I think all of the world (including me) wants the dollar to stick around as a useful currency, but countries like the BRICS players for example can set up their own parities for goods with gold in the background, or even as settlement if one country’s currency gets hammered or under- or over-valued. I think healthy reserves of gold underpinning regional alliances opens up the stability for all manner of collaborations and projects.
I’m not really a gold bug, but I’m very interested in what makes a good money. Money is a measure, more than anything, and works best when its volume is completely known to its users during transactions. I like greenbacks of finite numbers, issued and even withdrawn as sinking funds. This is how I’d like to see nations operate with their sovereign power of money, but compound interest is never willingly going to let that happen.
they’re all just laughing & thumbing their noses at putin.

Thank you.

Propaganda!
When in flight, the pilots are under direction of flight traffic controllers.
From beacon to beacon,as it were!
The pilots log a flight plan initially at point of departure.
The flight plan is based upon distance, fuel load, passenger loading, cargo loading etc.
They also load, cadavers, consular documents of such people, corpses for home country for ‘post mortem’
or Autopsy..
It can be and is,modified in flight!,this particular flight was re-directed into a war zone and instructed to descend,….crystal ..neh?.
Maylasia is the only country in the world to indict G.W.Bush & Tony Blair as war criminals.
They are the only country to lose two planes,in such a short period of time under suspicious circumstances,in my lifetime!.
Both planes fitted with the ‘Boing-Honeywell’, un-interuptable flight navigation system.

Mike, thanks for the perspective on Strelkov. He may have been overstating his role. As you say, someone else would have done the job. About Odessa and Kharkov, I was only restating what Strelkov said. Presumably those cities are quieter than Donetsk, given the daylight explosion two nights ago for example, but in truth not really at peace.

Killing petrodollar is not the same as killing Dollar. By killing petrodollar Putin & Xi Ping will kill means for USA imperial projection and force Uncle Sam to become an ordinary country living by its own means rather than sucking out wealth from around the world. This is not the same as killing USA. In the long run it will help not only countries currently oppressed by Uncle Sam but also Americans themselves – as soon as they forget their exceptionalism and reinvent themselves as ordinary society living from their own work and their own resources. USA is still a wonderfully rich country (in terms of natural resources), I would argue that in the long run it is possible for ordinary Americans to achieve better standards of living as soon as they reform system they’re living in and get rid of oligarchs.
Everything that is wrong with the world can be summed up in the activities of the Atlantic Council. This is how the US projects its influence abroad. It had a major presence inside the last NATO summit, the only organisation given that opportunity and it is currently hosting an economic and energy summit in Istanbul. Just check out the summit participants, this organisation has more clout than other.
Here is a tweet from them today
“US looks at #energysecurity in Europe as key foreign policy, national security interest”.
National Security interest? Just about sums it up.

That’s the new ‘Orange wants to be Black’ reverse-engineered, color revolution, the west finds normal.
The level of manipulation [news, money, jobs, loans, currencies, precious metals, policies, governments, etc.] is humongous.
The real sad thing is, this has become accepted as a norm. Low voter turnouts reflect both the public’s disgruntlement with governing bodies, as well as how minorities [those who do vote] help to maintain the status quo.
Just to follow on from my last post, The Atlantic Council, although a NGO, have a twitter feed @NATOSource.
It is worth following if you want to know what the US is thinking.

This ministery is completely corrupt. Everybody knows the infamous Mr. Demmink who was head of this ministery, proven guilty of child molestion and being covered by the rest of the clan, police, government, you name it, for years. Still no conviction. And there are so many other wistleblowers thrown into jail, lost theirs jobs/businesses, reputation, fled the country.
I think the Netherlands has received 122.5 ton gold ($5.9 billion) for being a nice lap dog to the US. See also this report:

Why else is the gold being given to the Netherlands and not to Germany who were trying to get theirs back?

Hi Saker !
Off Topic, but I noticed at RT that there are all these rape allegations of Bill Cosby. I asked a friend who might know about the “real deal” with this poor guy…
She thought it was nothing but NBC trying to get out of a contract….
Its strange how sex crimes will get a dismissal long before a murder charge.
Just ask billy boy…I mean Bill Clinton…
This whole thing about Bill Cosby is not true…that’s what I’ve heard.
Bill Cosby has an incredible art collection at the Smithsonian right now, and was on a very lucrative contract to make a come=back sit-com with NBC…now these women…for a much cheaper fee, are willing to come forward and lie about Cosby…he’s a great star, and happily married…and has a phenomenal art collection…
I wish RT would leave him alone or counter MSM allegations.

“I am concerned about the news of Strelkov’s latest interview, in which he purportedly admits complete responsibility for the starting of the war in Donbass, stating that were it not for him and his forces moving in from Russia, the Donbass region would have remained at peace, much as did Karkov and Odessa. The implication is that several thousand tragic civilian deaths could have been avoided, were it not for Strelkov’s intervention. It also implies that the residents of Donbass, if left to their own, would not have supported the current civil war…….”
This is an age old question. That really has no good answer.Should you resist tyranny or accept it without fighting.Odessa didn’t fight they just protested and many people were burned alive by the fascists for that. And terror has kept the city in line since. In Kharkov hundreds of people are disappeared.A few have been openly murdered and terror there as well keeps the city down. The Novorossian revolution bares some similarity to the American Revolution.People seized control of towns and the British moved in troops to restore control.Had the Colonials not fought back. There would have been no revolution. The French,Polish,Russian, and probably most famous the Yugoslav partisans fought the nazis. If they hadn’t the nazis wouldn’t have murdered as many hostages (7,000 in Serbia in one execution).Should they have fought the nazis are just did nothing. And let the nazi rule stay unresisted. Its a hard question to answer. At the time of the US revolution.Only maybe a third supported it.A third was neutral.A third was loyal to the crown. The British actions and progress of the revolution changed that to vast support for the revolution at the end.Polls showed at the start of this war around 80% of the Southeast rejected the coup government as illegal.Does that mean must of them wanted a war,of course not.But they didn’t start the war the junta did.Had they not resisted strongly they could have been under the terror regimes like Kharkov and Odessa,is that better,I don’t know. That comes back to the question of the European resistance against the nazis. Was that better or worse. But lets not forget what started all of this.It was the illegal coup in Kiev. And the coup plotters attacking the people in the East who resisted that illegal coup.
Uncle Bob
Sorry for the typos..no time to proofread…rk
The USD is the world reserve asset, unit of account, and unit of transaction. The world objects to the exorbitant privilege accorded the USD, which enables the USD to exact tribute from the world.
The tribute accorded the emitter of the USD allows the USA to purchase goods and services by creating USD. The world tolerated this privilege for 43 years because of the network advantage of the USD’s functions listed above and the 1980 agreement between the USA and the House of Saud that the Saudi’s would sell and price oil for USD, as long as they were able to convert some of the USD into gold. The price of gold was said to be $30,000 USD per ounce in this agreement.
The real objection is that the reserve asset function of the USD allows erodes the value of the reserve asset(savings) of the holder, whether a sovereign nation or an individual. The answer to this dilemma to to separate the money functions of being the reserve asset from the accounting and transactional function.
What does the world use as a reserve asset(savings) if not the dollar? Gold! But gold must be separated from backing fiat currencies which will continue to serve the money functions of accounting and transaction. The article at Fort Russ is incorrect in some technical understanding of the role of gold in the emerging system. Gold will be the reserve asset and a fiat currency will be judged by its value according to gold. We will measure value by grams of gold rather than USD.
Make no mistake….this transition away from the USD as a world reserve asset will cause a dramatic devaluation of the USD against goods and services. It will destroy USD paper promises-to-pay by hyperinflation. You will be paid your savings denominated in USD, but the value of one USD will be dramatically less than it was pre-reset.
This event is inevitable and eminent. The world is prepared for the transition, but everyone including Russia, Europe and China want this to be a gradual transition so as to avoid hot war and chaos as the Empire of the Dollar is dethroned. The price of gold is suppressed so as to allow its distribution to powerful entities who hold USD as a reserve asset whether governments or individuals. When the gold is distributed the reset will happen and gold will be revalued higher to compensate for the loss of buying power of the USD.
It is my ‘opinion’ the world will accomplish this reset without hot war, but it will be a multi-polar world with a new sovereign-Gold! The alternative is chaos and war. The USA will survive, but not as an empire. The USD paper will burn! Just as the ruble of the USSR burned! We live in interesting times and it is encouraging to see money and gold discussed on Vineyard of the Saker. Not more than a few thousand people in the world even considered the role of gold as a reserve asset(savings) which is not someone’s promise to pay.
Paid trolls of Zio-Babylon be damned. I can’t sustain my tantrum. Your second podcast was excellent (as I expected) and I’m not stubborn or proud enough to abandon your project.

Just to be clear, I’m not talking about trench warfare (I get that) but of the information battlefront. Different conditions require different tactics and your Voice is too important for Me to let You get away with limiting or sabotaging yourself;)
2 – I know you didn’t write the previous post but why not an article contrasting the treatment given to Psychiatric ‘Doctor’ Karadzic and War Hero Herr ‘General’ Gotovina vs. their permanently silenced victims. K and G are sick fucken bastards it would be useful to remember and THAT would be the FULL context. I would respect someone who tackled it this way instead of your contributor who thinks a war crime is less of a WAR CRIME if it is exaggerated by AZ media. Only the pathetically soft minded accept such logic regardless of legitimate bias. Outsiders, especially thoughtful ones like yourself, need to be mindful that playing to victimhood of any kind makes Talmudists grin from ear to ear. Publishing soothing half-truths about Karadzic’s Oh so sad story, like it or not, is a partial endorsement so long as it is exclusive of the bigger picture. It does very little to further discredit the ICTY (which is damn near impossible) but plenty to drive yet another wedge between the people who need to get over it and get on with the business of meaningful Resistance.
Enjoy you vacation.

Recently the Dutch have repatriated a significant proportion of the gold they had stored in the US whilst the Germans were told to take a hike when they asked for their gold to be returned. Why the different treatment? The secret agreement allowing the real cause of MH17 to be hidden away perhaps.

Joat: I think he is preparing for the worst while leaving room for moderation. I think a key point for Putin was the deliberate shooting down of MH17 in order to frame Russia. He saw then that the Anglo-Zionists have no scruples about ordinary people.
Can’t help but concur that the deliberate downplaying of atrocities, be it through apathy, ignorance, wilful manipulation, ‘war crimes being less than war crimes if exaggerated by AZ media’, and so forth, seems to me one of the most insidious indicators of those without conscience.

recent Rus prposed to UN ant-nazi resolution passed by Committee but rejected/voted against by Us, Ukr, Eu to condemn nazi influences , actions, surely only proves to Rus and west of world that any anti-nazi confrontation (eg preventing Donbass genocide)by Rus in Ukr can be justified I would think, that non supporters are morally bankrupt.
Ukr attempts to get “rights of Tatars” in Crimea in revised consitution retrospectively so only they have right to determine Crimea’s status.
http://www.blackseanews.net/en/read/84391
here is link to what UKR “claims” is happening in Crimea-ref previous blogger requesting info-yes were /are blockaded, eg in laws had no irrigation water so drilled own artesian well, but in fact life is much much better (eg pensions in roubles 3 x ukr pension), huge investments going on down there, it will take time. Saker thank you and thankfully assures me Crimea is very heavily defended now, no chance it will return to ukr, but Tatars may be stirred up, expect? more Black sea visits/confontations and false claims by NATO ships/planes etc, and ukr reportedly doing lease lend with USA for warships, which could more easily “defend”?/attack say Odessa -and more accurately than grad missiles used against NR.
Uncle Bob, you’ve presented a thoughtful analysis regarding moral arguments for war in southeast Ukraine. The dilemma remains: Is war against tyranny justified if the majority of citizens do not support it? When I see the suffering of the Donbass civilians, I have to say no. But when I consider the larger threat, such as the further spread of Nazi and NATO oppression, I’m inclined to say yes. The question clearly needs more thought. Thanks.
Yonatan, here is a minor but curious speculation about the MH17 operation that I haven’t seen elsewhere. Perhaps you can help me evaluate it.
You said, “I think a key point for Putin was the deliberate shooting down of MH17 in order to frame Russia.” But what if this was not the only motive? Could the intent have also been to cut Donetsk off from Lugansk by situating the disaster directly between them? Kiev must have known this would draw in foreign observers and troops, disrupting transport routes between the two cities, and weakening Novorossiya’s defense. If so, the tactic did not quite succeed, but it did serve to threaten Donetsk with isolation.

No need for Ukraine to bribe the russkies, coal aplenty in South Africa and Australia. (…And even bada Russkies not saying ‘n’iet’…Or do they???). As for the price, it’s the Europeans who have to pay for it, anyway; and the more they pay, the more ‘it raises THEIR costs.’
“KIEV, November 21. /TASS/. A total of 36,000 tonnes of coal from Australia have reached the port city of Mariupol in Ukraine’s embattled Donetsk region, the press service of the city council reports on Thursday.
The Hebei Tangshan bulk cargo ship has delivered 36,000 tonnes of coking coal for local metallurgical plants, the report said.
Ukraine is facing deficit of certain types of coal as a result of warfare in Donbass (the Donetsk and Luhansk regions), where coal of these brands was produced and where there is about 2 million metric tonnes of such coal at state mine depots. According to the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry, the import requirements for these brands total 1 million tonnes a month.
At the moment, Ukraine is buying coal from South Africa at the price of 86 dollars per tonne, but when coal reaches Ukraine the price grows to about 110 dollars per tonne due to transport and other costs.
Last week, Ukrainian Minister for Energy and Coal Industry Yuri Prodan said Ukraine had no other choice at the moment but to buy coal from Russia or in Donbass, where militias control the situation.
He said South Africa had refused to make further coal supplies to Ukraine and it would take at least a month-and-a-half to sign a new contract. “The situation with coal supplies is menacing. The energy security of the country is at threat. We have no other choice but to resort to Russian suppliers and buy coal there,” the minister said.

What is exactly his guilt according to you, the self-proclaimed omnipotent attesters of the very humanity?

– Spending his life working with the unfortunate ones – trying to lessen their burden – you’d avoid to see even on a photo?

– Saying that “Germany finally won the WWII on the territory of Croatia & partially of Bosnia?”

there is no such thing as one people who are all angels and another people who are all devils.
One people having horrible things done to them does not
* entitle them to be equally horrible in exchange
* make them innocent when they do so.
If you murder my parents you are a murderer, even if I also murdered yours. Being a “victim” once does not give you lifetime rights to victimise others.
You are entitled to say “we did it because we were hurt and angry and crazy at the time”. You are not entitled to say “we did not do it and claims that we did is just further victimisation”.
This applies to ALL SIDES in ALL CONFLICTS. While you keep insisting your side was angels, you are continuing the war and the hatred in your hearts.
“..Do you know how many Serbs were killed / raped / still missing / ethnically cleansed within the ex-YU?..”
and how many Bosnians, Croats etc etc?

Ukraine, the USA and Canada rejected the resolution of grappling with Nazism in the UNO
(The text was then approved by a record vote of 115 in favour, 3 against (Canada, Ukraine, United States), with 55 abstentions.)
The USA, Ukraine and Canada were the only states which voted against suggested resolution in the grapple with glorification of the Nazism. The resolution was put to the vote in the third Committee by the General Assembly of the UNO.
Russia put to the vote on the eve in the third Committee of the general Assembly of the UNO the resolution, which calls to adopt effective measures to grapple with glorification of Nazism and other forms of race discrimination, xenophobia, and intolerance.
115 states voted for this document, 55 countries abstained in the vote, including members of the European Union, and three countries were against. These countries are Ukraine, the USA, and Canada.

Russkies want to be prepaid. Poland sent some and didn’t get the money, they’ll send no more. South Africa halved the order after it turned out the guy who ordered it is under investigation for skimming off the top. Donbass of course refuses to sell while they’re being shelled.
Australia probably got paid, as they sent COKING coal, which went to the steelworks in Mariupol, which is run by Akhmetov, who might be a cheating oligarch but he knows to pay his suppliers.
The power stations need anthracite coal which is not widely available. And all suppliers now want cash up front. Power stations will only run on the coal they were designed for. I suggested bribing a Russian coal supplier because even Ukraine must understand bribes can’t be paid in IOUs.

There have been clashes between Right Sektor Militias and the regular Ukrainian Army…..forcing them to maintain & hold positions
Yes, they shot up a lot who wanted to go home just 2 weeks ago. A previous time they agreed to let starved-out National Guard withdraw, then shot at them on the way out, with the result the rest surrendered instead. Most of the carnage at Ilovaisk was one of the Nazi battalions, too — after being given a humanitarian corridor to withdraw, they decided to take all their tanks with them. That’s a breakout, not withdrawal.
The government is happy to let these do their dirty work for them. Let them terrorise everyone. The government is afraid for the day the disillusioned army decides to head to Kiev instead, a Maidan with tanks.
@Kat Kan
Please don’t put words into my mouth! Where did I say we Serbs are angels & the others are devilds? I specifically rejected the attack on Dr. Karadzic, who is innocent until proven guilty, & the Hague zio-inquisition is not the place to determine those facts.
“One people having horrible things done to them” are entitled to defend themselves, & not what you’re slyly truying to project upon us, i.e., to be “entitle to be equally horrible in exchange.” Again I ask, what is the proof of this mean claim of yours apart from the zionazi PRopaganda?
Who did we victimize,, you malicious creature!? Of ~100,000 people who died in the Bosnian war, ~37,000 were Serbs. Who killed them, & with what license? Who!?
You’re not gonna tell me what I am “entitled to say”, sir, especially not in that frame-up manner of yours, do you understand?
Your are preposing “we did it”, & then telling me under what circumstances I am entitled to accept that already “established fact” . Hell no! Did innocent people die? Sure! And on all sides, it was a civil war. Was that some “joint criminal enterprise” on the part of the accused Dr. Karadzic (and his entire people) with a specific plan to get rid of almost 2 million Muslims in the midst of Europe at the end of the XX century? Again, no. Are there Serbs – directly involved in unlawful killings – who should be prosecuted for war crimes? Sure, & they already have been, unlike the scum from the opposing sides.
Again, we are not angels, we just succeeded in preventing what happened to the unfortunate Serbs from croatia / Kosovo, where there are no more Serbs to speak of. The same fate face the brave brothers & sisters inDNR & LNR. In fact, identical kind of warfare is carried out against them!
Their only guarantee to survival are their weapons & their fighters, the same as it was in our case.
It’ll be no too long before their political / military leadership is accused before some ad hoc trial, same as ours is. But too bad, mother Russia is on its feet again, & that’ll not pass!
Your odious attempt to equate the victim’s with the exterminators you can keep for some session on “peace” financed by Soros & alikes.

And for that you release an incredible tirade against another commenter who happens to disagree with you. OK.

Not voting is not the answer. It is too easily dismissed as arising from ignorance or indifference, or even complacency of satisfaction.
There are usually mini-party candidates to vote for. There may be a write-in who sends a signal.
Spoil your ballot. Affix a peace symbol decal. Write “none of the above.” Try not to look like a case of retarded development by writing in Charlie Brown or Justin Bieber.
An identifiable protest vote sends a clear message. Staying away does not.
Yes, Dr. Karadzic is OUR hero, not “mine.” He stayed with his people to share our fate. Otherwise, as an English speaker, he could have gone to the US & worked for the big farma as a psychiatrist for $300 / h.
To you, he is an antihero because you know about the war in Bosnia from Rupert Murdoch’s & other ziomedia scum, while I lived it.
The IGTY is not the relevant institution to determine what that “hero/his forces behind his back did” because it’s a tool of the evil empire, where the verdict on him & his people has been written before the war was even over, & where the zionazi scum acts as accuser / judge / prosecution. It’s a show trial where he’s not able to defend himself properly, and that’s what the article is all about!
He offered himself to the ICC in Rome instead, where he could have had a fair trial, or so he thought, but they refused him because the IGTY was “relevant” for that.
OTOH, you’re cynically trying to impose that very verdict as valid & indisputable, & then you switch to circular reasoning why should I agree with it. Yes, we were the victims of the ziofascist Western aggression, where the naïve muslims served as their infantry (just like the Ukies now in another artificial country of Ukraine are).
Their ulogy was that of a thug who broke into our shop for, we refused to pay insurance policy to the ziohegemon, same as the ISIL, Ukies, & other “freedom fighters”for the last 25 years.
But your job on this blog is mainly not to know, & then laugh at us who do know, or want to know more, & I’m well aware of that!
Therefore, as one commentator already told you, buzz off!
