With his inimitable flair for economic analysis steeped in historical depth, Professor Michael Hudson’s latest essay, originally written for a German audience, presents a stunning parallel between the Crusades and the current “rules-based international order” imposed by the Hegemon.
Professor Hudson details how the Papacy in Rome managed to lock up unipolar control over secular realms (rings a bell?) when the game was all about Papal precedence over kings, above all the German Holy Roman Emperors. As we know, half in jest, the Empire was not exactly Holy, nor German (perhaps a little Roman), and not even an Empire.
A clause in the Papal Dictates provided the Pope with the authority to excommunicate whomever was “not at peace with the Roman Church.” Hudson sharply notes how US sanctions are the modern equivalent of excommunication.
Arguably there are Top Two dates in the whole process.
The first one would be the Third Ecumenical Council of 435: this is when only Rome (italics mine) was attributed universal authority (italics mine). Alexandria and Antioch, for instance, were limited to regional authority within the Roman Empire.
The other top date is 1054 – when Rome and Constantinople split for good. That is, the Roman Catholic Church split from Orthodoxy, which leads us to Russia, and Moscow as The Third Rome – and the centuries-old animosity of “the West” against Russia.
A State of Martial Law
Professor Hudson then delves on the trip by “Liver Sausage” Chancellor Scholz’s delegation to China this week to “demand that it dismantle its public sector and stops subsidizing its economy, or else Germany and Europe will impose sanctions on trade with China.”
Well, in fact this happens to be just childish wishful thinking, expressed by the German Council on Foreign Relations in a piece published on the Financial Times (the Japanese-owned platform in the City of London). The Council, as correctly described by Hudson, is “the neoliberal ‘libertarian’ arm of NATO demanding German de-industrialization and dependency” on the US.
So the FT, predictably, is printing NATO wet dreams.
Context is essential. German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in a keynote speech at Bellevue Castle, has all but admitted that Berlin is broke: “An era of headwinds is beginning for Germany – difficult, difficult years are coming for us. Germany is in the deepest crisis since reunification.”
Yet schizophrenia, once again, reigns supreme, as Steinmeier, after a ridiculous stunt in Kiev – complete with posing as a unwitting actor huddled in a bunker – announced an extra handout: two more MARS multiple rocket launchers and four Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers to be delivered to the Ukrainians.
So even if the “world” economy – actually the EU – is so fragilized that member-states cannot help Kiev anymore without harming their own populations, and the EU is on the verge of a catastrophic energy crisis, fighting for “our values” in Country 404 trumps it all.
The Big Picture context is also key. Andrea Zhok, Professor of Ethical Philosophy at the University of Milan, has taken Giorgio Agamben’s “State of Exception” concept to new heights.
Zhok proposes that the zombified collective West is now completely subjugated to a “State of Martial Law” – where a Forever War ethos is the ultimate priority for rarified global elites.
Every other variable – from trans-humanism to depopulation and even cancel culture – is subordinated to the State of Martial Law, and is basically inessential. The only thing that matters is exercising absolute, raw control.
Berlin-Moscow-Beijing
Solid German business sources completely contradict the “message” delivered by the German Council on Foreign Relations on the trip to China.
According to these sources, the Scholz caravan went to Beijing to essentially lay down the preparatory steps for working out a peace deal with Russia, with China as privileged messenger.
This is – literally – as explosive, geopolitically and geoeconomically, as it gets. As I pointed out in one of my previous columns, Berlin and Moscow were keeping a secret communication back channel – via business interlocutors – right to the minute the usual suspects, in desperation, decided to blow up the Nord Streams.
Cue to the now notorious SMS from Liz Truss’s iPhone to Little Tony Blinken, one minute after the explosions: “It’s done.”
There’s more: the Scholz caravan may be trying to start a long and convoluted process of eventually replacing the US with China as a key ally. One should never forget that the top BRI trade/connectivity terminal in the EU is Germany (the Ruhr valley).
According to one of the sources, “if this effort is successful, then Germany, China and Russia can ally themselves together and drive the US out of Europe.”
Another source provided the cherry on the cake: “Olaf Scholz is being accompanied on this trip by German industrialists who actually control Germany and are not going to sit back watching themselves being destroyed.”
Moscow knows very well what the imperial aim is when it comes to the EU reduced to the role of totally dominated – and deindustrialized – vassal, exercising zero sovereignty. The back channels after all are not lying in tatters on the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Additionally, China has not provided any hint that its massive trade with Germany and the EU is about to vanish.
Scholz himself, one day before his caravan hit Beijing, stressed to Chinese media that Germany has no intention of decoupling from China, and there’s nothing to justify “the calls by some to isolate China.”
In parallel, Xi Jinping and the new Politburo are very much aware of the Kremlin position, reiterated again and again: we always remain open for negotiations, as long as Washington finally decides to talk about the end of unlimited NATO expansion drenched in Russophobia.
So to negotiate means the Empire signing on the dotted line of the document it has received from Moscow on December 1st, 2021, focused on “indivisibility of security”. Otherwise there’s nothing to negotiate.
And when we have Pentagon lobbyist Lloyd “Raytheon” Austin advising the Ukrainians on the record to advance on Kherson, it’s even more crystal clear there’s nothing to negotiate.
So could this all be the foundation stone of the Berlin-Moscow-Beijing trans-Eurasia geopolitical/geoeconomic corridor? That will mean Bye Bye Empire. Once again: it ain’t over till the fat lady goes Gotterdammerung.
I have always been of the opinion that the past stares at us from the future. The only things that change are the labels. Today’s woke is yesterday’s zealotry, catechism, and brainwashing. Today’s cancelling is yesterday’s excommunication, shunning, and blacklisting. Today’s humanitarianism is yesterday’s con artistry, fleecing, and serfdom. Today’s virtue signaling is yesterday’s holiness, White Man’s Burden, and Manifest Destiny. Today’s war is yesterday’s war-wars never change. All that remains is the repeating.
Past is prologue, says the Bard. Satan’s job is easy, he just needs to convince people that they are doing something new and different while telling them the same old lies.
“So could this all be the foundation stone of the Berlin-Moscow-Beijing trans-Eurasia geopolitical/geoeconomic corridor? “
Hope so. If it does then this could be theEmpire ending with a whimper rather than a bang.
But I don’t expect the Empire to give up so easily. They still have lots of dirty tricks up their sleeve and the US is the only country that has a track record of using nuclear weapons.
I believe you may be on to something very big. I’ve known since my family talked about it many years ago that Germany would join with Russia, that was was when there was no Russia it was the USSR.
Scholtz is in China while other EU parliamentarians including Germans are visiting Taiwan; China is not impressed with the silly game being played.
Germans surely remember the motto: Keep Americans in, Russians out and Germany down.
German politicians can be corrupted and influenced (whatever way is more convenient) but German business owners clearly understand that their fate is destined to suffer a lot and for long time if they stay under current curators.
Some of them may also read alternative resources where their reality perception is questioned for not seeing who is behing their fateful destiny.
So Pepe may be right, we are watching lying cornerstones for the future Berlin_Moscow_Beijing axis.
There may be many more willing participants if this will promise another 50 years of peace in Europe.
The problem is, while some German industrialists may be worried about their companies, most all of them, along with most German bureaucrats and politicans are tightly involved in making untold riches off of the US/EU/UK Financial Markets…..Therein lies the rub.
Abraços do Brasil !
Pepe thank you for your comentaries, I have been watching your videos in Portuguese and hope you could talk with our elected president Lula about the international situation. I ask you: is it possible that in France une union beteweeen National Rally (now with Jordan Bardella as leader) with La France Insoumise (Mélenchon) in order to lift the economic sanctions against Russia? How president Macron will deal with this question. Sorry for my broken english.
According to one of the sources, “if this effort is successful, then Germany, China and Russia can ally themselves together and drive the US out of Europe.”
Sorry but I do not find this credible at all.
Scholz is a stooge with neither guts nor personality for this. He couldn’t even bring himself to announce the identity of the culprits behind NS1&2 attacks.
That would have provided him with the ideal cover for a pivot to the east.
In both WW1&2, Germany has always been
1. Against Russia
2. On the losing side
Sorry to say this but I don’t see it being any different this time around.
There is a lot Germanophilia both in the Kremlin (Putin) and Russian business leaders. It has led to strategic mistakes by over -investing in energy projects like NS1&2 and placing too much faith in Minsk agreements.
I think the Kremlin has now realised that this was a strategic mistake.
@ Serbian Girl
Spot on, Serbian Girl, as usual.
The Chinese will treat Scholz with all the protocol he is entitled to as an envoy of a Germany in decline, and by extension from a desperate and anxious European continent.
But no more.
He will not be given the platform of a serious negotiator, China knows his position is only temporary. His abismal political failures will be more noticeable as the war in Ukraine drags on, Ukraine sinks into a dark and gelid winter, and Russia’s profile as a victor emerges from the current “stalemated” horizon. Next to la Truss, tossed out to the trash bin of history in only a few weeks, Scholz will end his political tour in infamy.
NS1 & NS2 will remain, the little hole la Truss made on Blinken orders will be patched up, gas will flow again to Europe, when things go back to normal, which will be…in the not so distant future, we hope. Putin’s vision of a united Europe “from Lisbon to Vladivostok” remains a worthy ideal to pursue. Russia doesn’t need a broken Europe, that the US can use, as it manipulated Ukraine’s kleptocracy and turned into a beachhead of Russophobia.
The Crusades, which Dr. Hudson masterfully compared to the new neoliberal/neocon “State of Martial Law,” were the consequence of a broken Europe mired in poverty. A Europe in perpetual crisis will only deepen the suzerainty of the US, a strategic reversal for Russia’s aims and vision for Europe.
Nice to see you around.
Lone Wolf
Great points Lone Wolf, good to read your lines.
I agree a broken, paranoid Europe is not anyone’s interest. But even when they were strong they were happy to support US wars. They seem hard-wired for it…
I love Pepe’s upbeat takes, we all need that. I feel very worried at how quickly events are escaping, and the mind-blowing insanity & gullibility of the West.
There are some of us in the West who are aware, are not so gullible, but have no power for change. The US admin has polarized people through media to such a large extent that critical thinking has been relegated to the back corners of their mind.
I have written on my car back window. Biden = War = Global Famine. Do you care??? One lady at a stop light next to me gave me the middle finger and said, “You’re a liar!” Another driver shouted, “Eff Maga.”
My sign is meant to foster critical thinking as the US midterms approach. I know the truth of this war, but others do not; they do not care, nor think about the future but are caught in the now. I, too, am worried about everyone’s gullibility.
Cindy, your thoughts about the lack of concern of the people about the future is also mine. In Brazil, where I live, there is a lot of people zombified without any sense of survival. Instead looking for a progressist, sovereign, peaceful government, they prefer close their eyes and believe in liars of political, religious, media and military segments. Fortunately, in our last election we’ve elected a man who brings hope and made an extraordinary legislature from 2003-2010, followed by his supported-candidate until the coup in August 2016.
God bless us all!!
Lone Wolf points out: “{Scholz} will not be given the platform of a serious negotiator, China knows his position is only temporary. His abysmal political failures will be more noticeable as the war in Ukraine drags…on…”
Your is a valid point we missed.
We hear from our Italian friends, with one being an economist in Milan, that Germany is being decimated by the US Financial Powers. By extension, The EU/UK Central Banks are also part of the cabal. It’s a huge monolith with free access to US $$s forever pouring out billions to the US/EU/UK Elite crowd.
At the same time, the German industrialists may have been trying to claw their way out of the predicament. Perhaps, it was the German industrialists who strongly urged Scholz to visit China.
Because we live in the US, we are acutely aware of the innumerable practices by the US Financial Centers in destroying whole nations. After all, they’ve become experts. Look at what they’ve done to in sabotaging & destroying Latin America, Africa & M.E nations.
You may be right but I think there is still reason to hope. In the age of high speed, secure communication it seems rather quaint that heads of state find it necessary to physically travel to foreign lands to negotiate. What can possibly be accomplished by such travel that couldn’t be accomplished at a distance?
One plausible explanation is that the two sides wish to discuss details that they fear will be intercepted. If, as publicly stated, the Germans are traveling to China to make demands that are already aired and which both sides know will be rejected by the Chinese, then why bother? Unless the Germans hold some super-secret ace up their sleeve, this trip is clearly a waste of time for the publicly stated purpose.
My guess is that they are there to negotiate terms outside of earshot of their American masters.
@ The Doctor.
“…My guess is that they are there to negotiate terms outside of earshot of their American masters.”
————————————————
Your prognosis is correct, Doctor.
The downside of that long trip is that, first, Scholz has no credibility as a representative of Germany, his political capital wasted supporting “Country 404,” and foaming at the mouth against Russia. Second, and more importantly, he has nothing to offer.
His traveling companions are there to make sure he delivers the message they wanted to convey to the Chinese, no less, no more. Scholz is their spokesman, nothing else. The German business class already saw the message on the wall, Russia has prepared for a long war, will be happy to continue blowing up hardware and ordnance provided by Europe under US orders for the next 20 years, while testing new weapons and training their army for the Big One.
The German business/industrial/entrepreneurial class are trying to go back to the path they were suppose to take as the European station of BRI, having gone astray as they were forced by the US to take a detour aka Ukraine, and lost not just their way but are at the brink of losing their country.
We can certainly say, for Germany, this trip is a corrective step in the right direction.
Lone Wolf
While reluctant to back NATO, Germany eventually succumbed. What is Scholz actually hoping to accomplish with China? The US has 40,000 troops in Germany. Unless that yoke is thrown off, how can Germany go forward. Are they seeking military aid to do so?
Doctor, you cannot socialize at a distance. You also don’t propose at a distance. You don’t have dinner at a distance. Heads of state most certainly need to travel with their entourage to foreign countries to do business.
Life would be boring with your idea of high tech communication. The internet was never meant for socializing but for knowledge exchange (and for the MIC and Intelligence Community to spread their tentacles and “American” ideas to the world ).
@Dave: Which is why Biden traveled to Moscow to meet with Putin to present his package of anti-Russian sanctions. Remember when that happened?
Agreed, Dave.
It’s called “interpersonal relationships.” Technology is destroying one of the most human traits: person-to-person conversations, which in this case, are vital.
Which reminds me of videos I have seen showing how touch—who touches first—can indicate the power relations between leaders, or who is the real alpha male.
In my recollection it was Putin who took charge of the encounter (can’t recall with whom) with the symbolic first touch that conveys dominance of his “partner.”
I agree on the first part. The western standard procedure to deal with discontent is to promote false popular leaders, while smearing the real ones. While effective internally, it won’t make any difference outside of Germany. No one believes in the Western shenanigans. Germans will suffer the consequences of their slave mentality until they grow a pair. If they wait, Anglos will arm them and push them onto EuroAsian coalition, which can easily result in extinction of the German race. The choice is theirs only.
I wouldn’t bet on pro western faction(s) in Russia. Their lifeline is severed. Their ideological base is irreversibly tainted. Their core emigrated, never to return again.
Destroyed NS2 was a strategic mistake much less than Investing in Maidan coup for the West. Large part of investment is already recouped from increased gas prices, and sabotage fractured EU-NATO unity immensely. Let’s say, Russians got more bang for buck than their counterpart.
This is war. In war, all sides are losing until the end. Then only one side reaps spoils. Do your best to be on the winning side.
In the words of famous Serb, Black Gruya:”Some of us will survive, but some of you will die.”
Isn’t Scholz a WEF proxy?
Not sure whether he is a Young Global Leader, but he went to Davos and presented a special speech:
“The Chancellor of Germany delivered a special address at Davos 2022, focusing on upholding a global rules-based order, and valuing freedom and sovereignty”
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/authors/olaf-scholz
Well, that’s a word salad.
Somehow I don’t think “global rules-based order” goes together with “sovereignty.”
Only a sovereign nation can deliver to its citizens a modicum of personal “freedom.”
But we know that WEF-freedom = having nothing and being a lobotomized into “happiness” and eating bugs.
So WEF and “freedom” also don’t go together.
Since I think we know that the actual WEF agenda is to destroy sovereign nations, this looks like Scholz is welling to go to Davos to perform WEF-Kabuki theater of an Orwellian nature.
Scholz does not have the experience or the will or the diplomatic chops to carry off a complex, delicate foreign policy course correction. The only thing that offers a tiny glimmer of hope is that he went himself, instead of sending his lunatic foreign minister, Annalena Baerbock. .
Scholz has so many skeletons in his closet that he is gone with a snap of the fingers. If he where to annonce the culprits I predict his rapid demise like this : Scandal, Sanatarium or Liquidation.
What I hope is happening now is that the Industrialists which stands to be wiped out, despite having played ball with the Empire, is pushing Scholz to make a desparate attempt of making some deal with China.
As we see, Empire is making its moves to give China the Russian treatment. Which means EU will go from not having energy to turn the Kettle on, to not having any Kettle to turn on.
I disagree with NS1&2 being a mistake. It was an oportunity given to Germany to free themselves from the Anglofile crazies in the Poland & Ukraine. Unfortunately it didn’t work out, now we can only hope the Germans realize who’s boot is on their neck … although historically their track record is bad.
Scholz is following Leibniz’s advice from 300+ years ago. Why anyone is surprised? Germany, Russia, and China are still on the same map.
Leibniz worked also for Tsar Peter the Great – The Petersburg Academy of Sciences being the result of that collaboration.

Pepe, for the sake of argument let´s assume and accept that Germany announces its pivot to Eurasia in a foreseeable time horizon…
Instantly, a most terrible NEW crisis / war will be triggered squarely within European soil led by the US-UK-NATO-EU-WEF forces obviously resisting to such idea. So it´d be an internal European new WW1 all over again (repeat, World War ONE) no longer to be fought out in remote Ukrainian pampas but rather in the very heart of Europe. And I am afraid that in such scenario Germany will lose in a matter of days if not hours.
The only “way out” (sorta) that I foresee as a viable alternative is a German relocation process to Russia itself as very recently explained right here in The Saker
How would such a war be waged and who would fight it? With a German pivot to Russia/Asia, France would soon be forced to follow for basic economic reasons and with that, the rest of Europe would fall in line. I doubt that Poland will take on a combined Germany and France on behalf of a dying U.S./UK empire.
We might consider the U.S. reaction to such “partners” as India, Turkey and Saudi Arabia taking clear steps to joining the BRICs and/or remaining “neutral” (which in U.S. eyes is paramount to choosing the enemy side) with regard to Russian sanctions. The U.S. is in no position economically nor militarily to take on these wayward vassals. The U.S., aside from its nuclear arsenal, is a paper tiger.
Don’t follow the narratives, follow the money. One ship is sinking and the other is just setting sail. The Germans (even the corrupt and compromised political leadership) know which way the wind is blowing.
@The Doctor
So you are basically saying that Germany runs the show, and whatever Germany decides, the rest (meaning EVERYBODY else friend or foe) would accept and follow. Europe would align into Eurasia, NATO and the US and the UK and WEF would all be out of Europe bye-bye adiós, end of story…
…”… with a German pivot to Russia/Asia… the rest of Europe would fall in line..”…
Doctor, I wouldn´t think so and, for starters, absolutely every-single-thing we have heard regarding this conflict so far would be wrong. And NATO-US-UK-WEF-EU pressure would not change anything.
Hmmmm…. I cordially disagree.
Fine but then you need to explain…
“let´s assume and accept that Germany announces its pivot to Eurasia in a foreseeable time horizon…Instantly, a most terrible NEW crisis / war will be triggered squarely within European soil led by the US-UK-NATO-EU-WEF forces..”
…how such a war would come about and be fought in Europe (i.e. who would fight it?). Obviously, your assumption that Germany pivots to Asia precludes Germany’s fighting against itself. Are you suggesting France would invade Germany? Who in bankrupt Europe is launching this war and against whom?
I think that U.S. control over Europe is a house of cards built on a fiat money system that is about to collapse. You can’t bribe politicians with worthless currency. Even the slimiest of politicians are going to do what is in their best interests. But I digress. What is your plausible scenario for this EU quasi-civil war you speak of?
A German pivot to China on what, a skate board? Germany has insecure energy supply, industries are closing, the best German industrialist will be able to do is diversify and move business off shore…….to China. Smart German entrepreneurs would be wise to open Yuan Stores, stocked will all the latest third world knock offs and store foreclosure merchandise……oh, and blankets, lots of blankets.
Cheers M
@The Doctor,
Per the non-acceptance of a German pivot to Eurasia, the new version of WW1 (repeat ONE) i.e. an intra-Europe civil war — would be just about EVERYBODY including France and the UK with US support against Germany. My only doubt would be bankrupt Italy trying to sit on the Euro fence for a while, although not for long.
@Jorge, I know you know hard nosed oil people.
How about a proposal for Oil Mgmt for Bering Strait Pipelines?
Past reluctance just might flare, despite the obscene profits Exxon et al. are making right now.
I know Dem opposition to various pipelines – it is likely due to this.
The Dems may flare soon, along with the entire green agenda – Flop 26 is a foregone conclusion.
The US will do this sooner or later – it is a least-action thing!
I true your first sentence bonbon.
But just what would ´Bering Strait pipelines´ entail, exactly ?
Forget Democrats… or Republicans for that matter.
I´m not sure I grasp the nature of your suggestion.
Cordially Jorge
OKay, sorry, I got ahead of myself methinkxs.
Bonbon, you say let the US join the Eurasian Economic space via the Bering Strait rail tunnel planned over 150 years ago… etc etc etc.
Yeah, technically it is quite feasible.
Politically, not so much.
Maybe Trump could get away with such…
Outflank the dominant narrative? NS becomes a sideshow…
Such a Proposal would have to be for sure hard hitting. You know how these guys are….
bonbon, in view of circumstances and as last resort option I can foresee oil & gas interest in your idea.
But just spitballing off the cuff I can add…
(1) Politically, no current cover either from the GOP or Dems… maybe Trump would (not really GOP no ?)
(2) Canadian buy-in would help LOTS, meaning WEF approval but them now only interested in debacle
(3) Would require US dollar defeat and multi-polar power-sharing, a very difficult internal US sell
(4) Other Bering Road links to Eurasia could help re natural resources + markets both ways, etc. etc.
True enough, it would imply a MAJOR — yet most constructive — change…
But would stakeholders want and care about that ?
Still, it could be pushed for if supported by
When economists realize the Great Game is plainly TOO EXPENSIVE, the game is up!
The Gang now writhing in despair know they are too expensive, not to mention the US realizes Ukraine is too expensive (GOP wins, anyone?).
So what to do?
Take Leibniz’s Principle of Least Action and Pre-Established Harmony seriously.
The US has a least-action way out of this – join the Eurasian Economic space via the Bering Strait rail tunnel planned over 150 years ago. Far cheaper than LNG boats, add a few pipelines over that Strait, in both directions! Easy! Why, even Britain added the Chunnel to Europe, for Gods’s sake!
Pre-established harmony we know today as technological progress (both terms defined by Leibniz) is dynamic. Doing that Bering Strait tunnel changes the harmony. That is pursuit of happiness (US Preamble, Leibniz again).
Notice how China always mentions Harmony – it is Confucian – as Leibniz reported in News from China years ago.
Doing that Bering Tunnel will make repairing what the EXPENSIVE Gang did to NordStream a minor agenda item.
@Bonbon
It’s impossible to imagine what the financial world would look like now if William Gilpin’s vision of a cosmopolitan railway joining New York to Russia and China via the Bering Straits and then on to Europe, Lisbon and Calais/London had been achieved.
This tragic loss of a golden opportunity is very well covered in an expose by Mathew Ehret…
https://matthewehret.substack.com/p/the-american-spirit-behind-chinas
… quoted from the link…
“After 1882, Gilpin continued to give hundreds of speeches, and published a widely-read book in 1890 titled The Cosmopolitan Railway, in which he forecast the eventual spread of railways around the world, which he believed would usher in a new era of win-win cooperation:
“They will continue to expand their work to [the] Bering Straits, where all the continents are united. This will extend itself along… the oriental Russian coasts into China. To prolong this unbroken line of cosmopolitan railways along the latitudinal plateau of Asia, to Moscow and to London, will not have long delay… The whole area and all the populations of the globe will be thus united and fused by land travel and railway.”
Speaking of China, Gilpin stated, “The ancient Asiatic colossus, in a certain sense, needed only to be awakened to new life, and European Culture finds a basis there on which it can build future reforms.”
Gilpin’s latter years were spent in Denver, Colorado, where he made the state a hub for railway construction and engineering expertise. It was while in Denver, raising funds and studying railroads, that Sun Yat-sen learned of the success of the Chinese revolution in 1911.
Thirty years later, Denver was chosen as the location to launch the sale of a stamp which featured Sun Yat-sen and Abraham Lincoln, former presidents of their respective nations, with the caption “Of the People, By the People, For the People” upon which Sun Yat-sen modelled his Three Principles of the People – “民族, 民權, 民生,” which roughly translates as “A nation of the People, government by the People, for the People’s welfare” – which also appear on the stamp.
…end quote…
And here we are 150 years on and the main focus for humanity is still based on hegemony, racial prejudice, isolation, and spending literally trillions on killing one another.
The monumental potential of international infrastructural and trading cooperation with the resulting strengthening of the brotherhood of man was ignored and it has still not happened to this day… what a tragedy… and the thieving banksters still rule.
But not for much longer
Col
Color me surprised, i didn’t expect that the German industry was taking a stance and was expecting that they take the offer to resettle to the USA.
“The first one would be the Third Ecumenical Council of 435: this is when only Rome (italics mine) was attributed universal authority (italics mine).”
This is the Roman Catholic understanding of the Third Ecumenical Council.
The Orthodox viewpoint is that the Church never had anyone with universal authority except Christ, and that the honour given to Rome is that of first among equals, and Rome lost this honour after the schism.
But the analogy of the US “excommunicating” countries by sanctions is a very good one. There are many parts of western culture and beliefs that take on the patterns of religion.
@ Giap
Google translation of your post in Portuguese.
Just have to add another one of Scholz’s “estrondosas imbecilidades” (thunderous imbecilities), mocking Putin when he declared Ukraine’s killings in Donbass a genocide. Depending on the translation, Scholz called Putin’s assertion “absurd” or “ridiculous.” Russia’s Foreign Ministry made a formal statement declaring Scholz statement as “unacceptable.”
That was the greatest insult Scholz could have thrown to Russia, and to Putin personally. If that didn’t cure Putin’s “Germanophilia,” nothing would.

Scholz’s dismissal of alleged genocide in Donbass ‘unacceptable,’ Russia says
“This is not for German leaders to make a joke of genocide issues,” the Russian foreign ministry said, according to Interfax.

Unfortunately, tradition is still what it has always been: every X years (whether they are 20, 50 or 70 years) Europe commits suicide. It is the European equivalent of the much-fashionable US “suicide by the police”, with the role of the police being repeatedly played by Russia, whether it is in tsarist, Soviet or Russian Federation uniform.
As for the “Germanophilia” of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, I am not a soothsayer, nor am I inside the head of the great Russian statesman, but I suspect that it has cooled off and become somewhat acidic with the successive antics of Mr. Scholz: from saying (in Putin’s presence) that the war in Ukraine was the first war in Europe since the end of World War II (Germany having been up to its hair in the maneuvers that led to the criminally bloody dismemberment of Yugoslavia), to when stating (he, a GERMAN) that the Russian Federation practices a scorched earth policy in Ukraine, going through the eunuch role he played in the NordStream II terrorist attack, the series of thunderous imbecilities said by the German chancellor are to make the foundations crumble of any Germanophilia, however solid it may be.

I think Putin is smart enough to draw a fine line. After all, he was stationed in East Germany (at the time bereft of US influence, much less military bases, compared to West Germany).

It’s quite clear that Germany is divided inside. The economy has been built around Russia/China since decades but Germany has no military indipendence since WWII.
Getting away from the Russia/China link would mean industrial failure. Getting away from Usa military occupation it’s impossible as it was decided after WWII.
So it’s clear that Germany is trying to find a balance between those two opposites, the economic alliance with Russia/China and the military occupation by USA.
Meanwhile EU is disintegrating, if it ever existed.
This means the last chance of surviving, for Germany, is to keep the link with China, the next first economic power of the future, and wait for Usa hegemony to melt down.
That’s why Scholz went to China, in my opinion. To keep alive Germany only chance of surviving.
It’s a step based on a process that just started and that will take years or decades to happen. Germany is seeing ahead, wishing it can see right but nothing is sure.
It’s a sort of a last desperate attempt to avoid a certain economic death.
But nobody can know what Usa can do to avoid its decadence, it’s still a major military power.
And nobody can be sure that USA will really lose hegemony and if that happens, how much time will it take and what deep consequences it will have.
In my opinion, everybody is guessing and gambling.
And the Scholz attempt is a gambling.
Fab,
It would make a lot of sense for Scholz to make this gamble.
Because Europe will be starved of money by the USA and energy by Russia.
Of course, Germany’s own fault, but the pressures are presumably humongous, from within (Von der Leyen et al.) and within (Baerbeck and Habeck and other WEF-ers).
This leaves only China as a possible source of investment funds and also a market.
Somehow Germany has to patch things up enough with Russia to get gas and oil flowing again.
Scholz should name Schroeder as some kind of special envoy or maybe a secret envoy a la Kissinger to get the talks going to finagle some new deals to keep Germany and Germans alive. The Hegemon cannot very well come out openly and say: We are holding your head underwater until you cry Uncle to us. Even if it is obvious that that is what they are doing. So if Scholz manages to put a few new pieces on the board, who can blame him?
His two ministers Baerbock and Habeck are his worst enemies!!
Somehow Scholz has to find the balls to chart a new course and involve respected figures so as circumvent these two nutters.
Taffy, you say
…”… his two ministers Baerbock and Habeck…”…
Both are ultra Green, as Green as they come. Both are WEF so also fully against China and Russia. Both are part of an overwhelming majority at the German Bundestag so they can pass any laws with a quick & dirty rubber stamp voting session. So…
Neither was part of the German delegation that went to China just now with Chancellor Olaf Scholtz and maybe that means something. Still to achieve the supposed “pivot”, Olaf Scholtz would have to pull (1) a helluva an internal legally-binding political trick within Germany besides (2) having to achieve an even larger geo-politikal success with nuch skeptical China & Russia. Both goals put together in such a short time-frame before winter seems to me as mission impossible.
Herr Robert Habeck is the German Minister of the Economy and Vice-Chancellor and fashion-modelling Annalena Charlotte Alma Baerbock is Germany´s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
…”… Somehow Germany has to patch things up enough with Russia to get gas and oil flowing again…”…
Not an ice-cube´s chance in hell Taffy because of (1) NATO´s full opposition as imposed sanctions clearly indicate and (2) because Russians have already witnessed the effective chessboard and stakeholders´ behavior, so now they are truly and definetively fed up sick and tired of 3 decades withstanding “agreement non-capable” not-so-bright and geo-politically very mediocre Europeans. No contract is ever possible with them under normal conditions (more on that later) and Russians have found that out the hard way.
So my personal and humble opinion is that Germany has 2 and only 2 last effective chances possibly open.
Both require Germany´s explicit and crystal clear political willingness plus an unequivocal and almost unanimous internal legal decision both of which are now absent
Chance #1 would be firmly and believably kicking the USA out of Europe altogether for good… with less than a 1% possibility of success. Mind you it could possibly be done though if the coming winter hardships upon every European soul are tough enough… but the effort and deployment required by the last two World Wars put together would seem like a champagne garden party in comparison thus leaving Europe ASWKI pretty much destroyed. But regular people´s grass-root reactions may possibly lead Europeans to at least try out such a violent outcome which would of course convince not only Russia and China but also the whole world regarding the New Europe — without any US direct or indirect involvement — and basically focused only on Eurasia.
Chance #2: would be to relocate soon enough as many of its industries as possible either to Russia and/or China thus very partially participating of Eurasia´s new bright future, jointly with China & BRICS & SCO & Global South. Still Europe itself would also end up pretty much destroyed ASWKI.
Scholz has no chanche to kick Usa out of Europe. Just forget about that. Germany has been conquered by usa dems, german parliament is full of enemies, green party, baerbeck and so on.
The only chance would be to let EU break apart, which is already happening. To accelerate the disintegration of EU, which is a financial architecture built to slave european nations to Usa financial mafia.
But germany doesn’t have military and financial indipendence, so it could just accelerate EU disintegration and enter inside another military and financial sphere.
But I really don’t see that possible soon.
It would be possible only if, after EU disintegrates, Usa breaks down heavily.
Honestly, I think the chanches for this scenario are near zero percent. And even if it would happen, it would take decades and decades for usa to lose military and financial power on germany and Europe in general.
So Scholz move is just a desperate move of a failed nation trying to avoid failure in a desperate way.
The only big open question is: what if a war between Usa and China happens in a short time?
That could drastically change any scenario and could put a different light on scholz desperate move.
Okay, we pretty much agree Fab.
I said less than a 1% chancs, you say almost 0% chance.
So, per what I posit right above, the only remaining possibility would be
” Chance #2: would be to relocate soon enough as many of its industries as possible either to Russia and/or China thus very partially participating of Eurasia´s new bright future, jointly with China & BRICS & SCO & Global South. Still Europe itself would also end up pretty much destroyed ASWKI. “
I agree there is back-channel communication between Germany and Russia; in fact I suspect Russia is talking to all the main countries in Nato, perhaps some through third parties. Unofficial and off the record.
But I find it hard to believe that 1) the Scholz caravan went to Pekin to lay down the preparatory steps for a peace agreement between Germany and, Russia and Tartary; and 2) Germany is working to replace the US with China.
The reasons being: First, the German Chancellor, any German Chancellor, is first and foremost a vassal of the Empire. Scholz is no different and indeed, based on recent events, is a stellar performer in that role. His one-day visit would have got official sanction (in the old meaning of the word) from DC and in order to get that permission, his visit must not be detrimental to the Empire. Second, if Germany wants peace with Russia, why go about it in a round-about way? Why can’t he have feelers sent via people the Russians trust without having to leave Berlin himself? Gerhard Schroeder jumps to mind but he’s too well-known as being somewhat of a Russophile, so perhaps someone else.
Scholz’s visit had a good reception — both the lead-up and the actual visit — from the CPC’s English-language media outlets and all they talked about was business. So it seems to me it’s more likely Scholz’s visit was to explore ways to save German industry (and industrialists) than to make big geopolitical moves.
I wonder if Biden will also tell the German people that “… I am a doughnut”
I am sure that most of the German people know that, but they are led by either fools or, more likely, politicians whose nuts (metaphorical for women) are in the iron grip of ….. (take your pick)

Obrigado, Pepe, as always.
Thanks for the introduction to Andrea Zhok and Giorgio Agamben, whose insights into the new neocon/neoliberal “paradigm” are key to understand the latest stages of the Full Spectrum Dominance.
Their writings, though a critique of the radical measures that followed the onset of COVID-19, have expanded to the current war.
Agamben points out “…the growing tendency to use the state of exception as a “normal governing paradigm…” during pandemic times.

Giorgio Agamben, “The state of exception provoked by an unmotivated emergency”
February 26, 2020
“…First and foremost, what is once again manifest here is the growing tendency to use the state of exception as a normal governing paradigm. The executive decree (decreto legge), approved by the government “for reasons of hygiene and public safety,” produces a real militarization “of those municipalities and areas in which there is at least one person who tests positive and for whom the source of the infection is unknown, or in which there is a least one case that is not connected to a person who recently traveled from an area affected by the contagion.”

Andrea ZhoK – The Dawn of the Martial Rule of Law
Andrea Zhok
“Often the less aware, among whom mainstream journalists stand out, believe that the relative overlap between those who have criticized the pandemic management and those who criticize the war management are simply an indication of people looking for a reason to protest. The idea is that there is nothing in common, except the propensity to look for opportunities to agitate on the part of some. This is obviously a short-sighted misunderstanding; Let’s try to understand why…
“…What the present and the future hold for us is a continuous push, a constant rekindling of a condition of “permanent war”: proxy war or war at home, metaphorical war on some virus or preventive war on some incipient cataclysm…”
———————————-
A state of permanent war is what the US/NATO has kept going for decades against many countries, e.g. Iran, Syria, North Korea, Serbia, Yemen, Lebanon, Russia, Cuba, and others. The war takes different forms, and has different degrees of aggression, Yemen lives under a state of a total, cruel, and inhumane war; in Syria it takes the form of a direct intervention, and a proxy war orchestrated by Israel; Iran has lived under sanctions for decades, and under constant aggression in different forms, financial, economic, diplomatic, and at different points in history, kinetic action, as of now. Same with Cuba, despite the yearly votes against the sanctions at the UN, the latest vote had only the US and Israel shamelessly voting against.
Sanctions, financial and economic, restricting trade and relations with those countries affected, is the weapon of choice by the “permanent warmongers.”
As Andrea Zhok points out,
“…Modern states are governed de facto by financial oligarchies and after the brief democratic season of the post-World War II period they are now implementing forms of radical control once unthinkable…”
The new forms of exerting Full Spectrum Dominance, is by keeping those unaligned with the empire in a permanent state of shock with sanctions, intervention, low intensity conflicts, hybrid wars, color revolutions, regime change, etc., until any society under pressure caves in.
Think Haiti.
The Empire of Lies, Death, and Deceit has put the planet under a State of Martial Law.

Here is Andrea Zhok’s article in full, translated by Edge browser.
Andrea ZhoK – The Dawn of the Martial Rule of Law
Often the less aware, among whom mainstream journalists stand out, believe that the relative overlap between those who have criticized the pandemic management and those who criticize the war management are simply an indication of people looking for a reason to protest. The idea is that there is nothing in common, except the propensity to look for opportunities to agitate on the part of some. This is obviously a short-sighted misunderstanding; Let’s try to understand why.
The historical phase in which we entered with the pandemic represents a historical turning point whose meaning must be understood regardless of the many, albeit important, details around pandemic management. The basic structure of that story shows how through the appeal to public health and the call to contain the damage (the “contagion”) it is possible to persuade almost the entire population to any restriction and any behavior. I am not interested here in quibbling about whether or not this was planned, if they were the dress rehearsals of something else or instead a fortuitous accident: the point is that even where it was all random and nothing planned (which however seems unlikely to me) we are faced with a precedent that the holders of power cannot fail to treasure, And therefore at a turning point.
The behaviors of complex modern societies that until the day before supported a tacky individualistic libertarianism (instrumental to market mechanisms) were turned upside down in an instant in the exact opposite with the applause of almost everyone and without raising eyebrows of proverbial “liberals”.
Of course, the role of the media and its control has been crucial – and the recent confirmation that since 2020 the US Department of Homeland Security has been meeting monthly with representatives of Twitter, Facebook, Wikipedia and other Internet platforms to coordinate efforts in “content moderation” is anything but a surprise. However, getting the loyalty to the power of most of the media – especially when it comes to an effective and hasty power like the American one – is the easiest thing in the world, if there is an expendable excuse. If you combine self-interest (even just that of not going against the hairs of power) with a passable “moral” excuse, you can take away for a plate of lentils all the media in the world.
Here at the center of the story is the “good moral excuse”. The form that this good excuse must have is that of a “terrible external threat” that requires everyone to “collaborate” without discussion and to stigmatize those who do not cooperate.
Modern states are governed de facto by financial oligarchies and after the brief democratic season of the post-World War II period they are now implementing forms of radical control once unthinkable.
On the technological and repressive level, contemporary states are now able to exercise historically unprecedented levels of control.
The only limit to the exercise of this control, potentially unlimited, is represented by the residual shell of the “democratic rule of law”, which requires some publicly expendable excuse to be exercised.
The form of this excuse is the “call to arms” in the face of “common danger”.
Both “war” and “pandemic” are classic instances of this unlimited “common danger”, which requires inflexible and indisputable central decisions “for the common good”, which has legitimacy to silence every request and protest, which has the right to break every insufficiently “responsible” will. During the pandemic we have in fact experienced a taste of unofficial “martial law”. And to believe that the current war – in a phase of progressive escalation – is experienced as a problem by the economic oligarchies in power is a pathetic mistake. Asking ourselves in front of the puppets that govern us “how is it possible that they do not realize that they carry us lower and lower” naively presupposes that they do not want us below.
The first object of the capitalist impulse is money, but as power, not as a “means for consumption”. It is the starving who think of money above all as a means to satisfy desires, to obtain goods. For the top echelons of the system, money is always available in large surplus of any conceivable consumption, while its actual role is to secure degrees of influence and power.
Summing up, the prevailing picture (at least) in the West is the following: financial oligarchies – inhabited within themselves by leading groups – pull the strings of politics in view of a form of control and central direction unprecedented in previous history. They have the dominant interest in fomenting a condition of “permanent common danger”, which removes all opposition, first of all mental.
Here Orwell’s lesson remains more lucid and relevant than ever: a condition of permanent war is a fundamental desideratum for the world elites. This is a condition from which only power and control can benefit, and as Orwell points out, power needs no further motivation. Whether or not there is some further “overall plan” (“depopulation”, “transhumanism”, etc.), this is contestable and inessential: probably for some there is, for others not. There may be differences of opinion on this. But on the interest in maintaining absolute control, which protects this new caste from any “subversive” danger, from any threat to its consolidated positions, convergence on this is assured.
What the present and the future hold for us is a continuous push, a constant rekindling of a condition of “permanent war”: proxy war or war at home, metaphorical war on some virus or preventive war on some incipient cataclysm.
This is the form of the historical mechanism into which we have entered.
And let us not deceive ourselves: knowing it in itself does not make us less succubi, weak, unprepared or powerless.

Some people will certainly taste it very good on bread, the liver sausage – but why do some people play the offended liver sausage when they have been offended?
In the Middle Ages, scholars assumed that all human emotions are produced in the liver. Whether sadness, love or anger – everything should come from this one place in the body. And if someone got angry, then they just had an insulted liver.
That explains the “liver”, but why is it called “liver sausage”? The phrase “offended liver sausage” is based on an old story. It’s about a liver sausage that bursts with anger in the boiling water of a kettle. Because the butcher takes out all the other sausages, such as blood sausage, before the liverwurst – because they don’t have to cook that long. And because the liver sausage should stay alone in the saucepan, she is offended.
The assumption that feelings originate in the liver and the story of the liver sausage have combined to form a figure of speech.–
