There seems to be a lot of confusion about the effectiveness of sanctions against Russia and I think that this is a good time to clarify a few things about my take on them.
First, the original sanctions were a total joke. However, the latest sanctions (including the denial of credit) are definitely hurting Russia.
Second, next to the official sanctions, there are unofficial ones, such as the carefully orchestrated drop in the prices of oil which itself triggers a fall in the value of the Ruble against the Dollar and the Euro.
Third, there is also a great deal of speculation against the Ruble which itself does also contribute to the problem.
Fourth and last, but not least, the three factors above contribute to a nervousness and lack of trust into the Russian currency and economy which becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
However, the thing which those who stick to a simplistic assessment of the sanctions are missing are the following:
1) Whom are these sanctions hurting more, Russia or the West?
2) What is the Russian staying power to put up with these sanctions?
3) Will time make these sanctions harder or easier for Russia to put up with?
I would argue that these sanctions are much more damaging to the the US European colonies (known as the “EU”) than for Russia. I would argue that the Russian people have a formidable resistance to hardship and that western societies are, in comparison, soft, hedonistic, lazy, spoiled and generally weak. Russians have a staying power which is simply unimaginable for a west European person (the horrible siege of Leningrad lasted 900 days!!!). Lastly, I believe that time will allow Russia to take adaptive measures to basically render these sanctions irrelevant.
Furthermore, the Russian staying power under AngloZionist sanctions needs to be compared with the staying power of the Ukrainian Nazi junta to keep control of the situation. It is one thing to put up with hardship and quite another to sit on a sinking ship.
Still, all of the above is predicated on the notion that Russia under Putin will finally address some of her most debilitating internal structural problems. Should that not happen, Russia will end up in the situation of an immune-suppressed person who is a serious risk even from a comparatively weak and normally benign virus or bacteria.
In conclusion, and just for your information, there are some interesting ideas floating around about what Russia might be doing. Check out this one for example: http://futurefastforward.com/images/stories/financial/GrandmasterPutinG%C3%87%C3%96sGoldenTrap.pdf.
I hope that this clarifies that.

They want to build in Ukraine a “City on the Hill” in Dnepropetrovsk, resurrect the Khazar Empire, The Rus and Persians need to be defeated first, this has been the goal of the Chabad, they see the writing in the wall in USA, now they will all move to Ukraine.
Very interesting happening with Putin in India.
Traveling with the Russian delegation in an unofficial capacity was the leader of Crimea’s government, Sergey Aksyonov.
He met with Indian business men to “unofficially” discuss business.
In other words, to the Sanctions Regime: FU!
http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/russia-to-help-india-set-up-12-nuclear-reactors/1/406405.html
Russia and India are tight with their Defense Alliance, according to Prime Minister Modi. And there were business deals for nuclear reactors to be built, 12 identified so far. A Vision Document signed today indicated a total of 20 nuclear power plants Russia would build. OIl deal and infrastructure deal and diamonds import from Russia deal also.
If there were a global businessman of the year award, Putin would win it.

I beg to differ.
The metal is also used in jewelry and for coins. It would probably be used in many other industrial applications where strength is not a consideration except for its rarity and cost given that it does not corrode nor tarnish. Throughout history it has been universally accepted as money, and this is it’s best and highest application.
I don’t share the article’s enthusiasm about gold. Until 2004 gold cost about 10,000 dollar a kilo. After that it gradually increased to 50,000 dollar a kilo. Since 2012 it has slowly sunk back to 40,000 dollar a kilo. The last year it has stayed about constant at that level.
So gold is very volatile. Certainly on the long run its upward potential seems limited while there is a lot of downward potential.
So while I can understand the appeal of an alternative for the dollar my personal preference would be a basket of currencies that reflects Russia’s imports. Focusing on gold seems to me a risky bet.

Do you guys truly believe the machiavellian in the west are stupid. They are evil, yes, but certainly not stupid.
Just as a reminder, oil prices and the ruble continue to fall. You’ve got to wonder where the bottom is.
This morning the Russian central bank had to intervene, AGAIN, but the ruble continued to fall regardless…
And what is Russia doing? nothing! absolutely nothing!
At least their lack of reaction in the face of a very, very dire situation proves to me a few things: they never had any info on MH17, or 9/11 or what have you… otherwise they would have released it by now.
And don’t give me this, “oh we don’t do this… there are “unspoken” rules, blah blah blah.”
You know what the anglozionist empire does? they tell Russia, “take your unspoken rules and shove them”, and they are certainly winning.
What impact if any does the New Turkish stream Russia deal and discounted gas price have over the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline?
Still, all of the above is predicated on the notion that Russia under Putin will finally address some of her most debilitating internal structural problems.
Russia is, apparently, a World leader in perceived corruption. That would seem to be among the most urgent “debilitating internal structural problems” to which Putin should address himself.

Serbia should just go those Countries that support Serbia, and who want another Chapter other than Chapter 35 in the European Union Ascension Talks to be the first Negotiating Chapter.
There are People who think that the Chapter which deals with some other Topic is a better one to begin the Ascension Talks with, and that there should be no terms and conditions from Germany or any other European Union Country with regards to this.
Serbia should spend much time, even years to see if Serbia can achieve a Majority of Support of the European Union Countries to this Principled Position.
The Serbian Government knows that there are Serbian Voters who think that those who want to join the European Union should be in a Psychiatric Ward.
This because one Basic Human Right that the European Union should Establish is the Right for a Country to be Entitled to keep All of its Territory.
With the passage of time, it is now Obvious that the Kosovo Albanians and some European Union Countries have not kept their Obligations on the Verbal Contract that was given during the Belgrade and Pristina Talks of 2013.
Pristina and some European Countries have used their Unfair Advantage to insist on things that are Clearly in Violation of the Basic Human Right, which the European Union should Establish.
This Basic Human Right is that Citizens of Countries have the Human Right to keep All of their Territory.
As a result Serbia is willing to continue the Dialogue with Pristina, on order to Enshrine this into Law with Pristina and Germany.
It is important to continue a high-level Political Dialogue with Pristina and Germany in a few months time to get the wording correct to the Amendments to the Belgrade and Pristina Document, which was Discussed Hastily in Brussels and under Great Duress, and which makes it an Illegal and Immoral Document on its present form.
There will need to be time to Discuss the wording which is needed to Enshrine and Establish this Basic Human Right in the European Union, which is that Citizens of Countries have the Human Right to keep All of their Territory.

Zerohedge tells us Russian hookers have doubled their prices. So the oil price collapse is taking its toll. It has got to be affecting social stability in general, and the question is, is it enough for Russia to be trading its underpriced oil for overpriced dollars and those for underpriced gold? How long can this go on? Zerohedge also has a convincing piece that shows the toll this Saudi-American plan is taking on oil-company infrastructure. It predicts a huge eventual rise in oil prices. But can Russia afford to wait it out?
Acknowledging the crisis, plans are afoot for a much faster shift to a non-SWIFT alternative (making de-dollarisation feasible). As soon as next month with a limited set of banks.
Two financial analysts, John Butler and Alasdair Macleod have made a strong case for a gold-backed rouble as a major answer to Russia’s woes.
http://www.financialsense.com/contributors/john-butler/sanctions-war-will-putin-play-gold-card
http://www.goldmoney.com/research/analysis/russia-s-monetary-solution
But carrying out such a step is much more difficult for Russia than stacking up the gold. It requires major public support to amend the legislation giving outrageous rights against Russia to the sinister private entity that is the Russian central bank.
It would be an important step to that goal if Russian media were to lay out the issues simply and fairly, in the way that political activist and economist Nikolay Starikov has done in his book, Rouble Nationalization.
Starikov’s book, a gem of lightly-worn learning, pedagogical genius and wit, is available here for free, in pdf format:

If RT were to devote its energies to this issue, that would set the ball rolling. Please write to them at:
feedback@rttv.ru
and propose that they give the topic of the gold-backed rouble and the status of the central bank the careful attention it deserves. Enlisting the help of Nikolay Starikov could give the project a running start.

The riches are not in Russia, most of them are in stolen land from Tsars or Stalin era. Think past last a few years, and you will understand why Russia is at where it is, and a lot of what is been said in rest of world will start to make sense.
I found the Golden Trap article full of errors, but besides that flawed as to concept. I’m not going to go thru all the errors but here’s a giant question:
In 2013 Russia produced 254 metric tons of gold. Yet she added only 77.5 Tons to her reserves. Does anyone know for a fact that she purchased gold from the US? It wd be interesting to know to whom she sold the rest of her production. 2012 was similar.
This year 2014 Russian production is expected to be 5% lower. She may add more to her reserves or at least defer sales because the West is not buying from her this year, altho sanctions don’t forbid it.
One particularly egregious error in the article was the assertion that the lower oil and gold prices go, the sooner Putin can buy up US gold reserves. Isn’t it obvious that if Russia is paid less for oil she wd have less available to buy up US gold? Quite aside from the fact that I haven’t seen any evidence that Russia is buying US gold. Can anyone else supply me w this evidence? Or does anyone know to whom Russia is selling the rest of its production?
“”Russia may do some things terribly (media and image projection)” – Angelo
Perhaps this can finally be put to rest.
Typically Russia does not engage in public relations as defined/practiced by the opponents, i.e. a policy of “managing/moulding/manipulating” public perceptions through various techniques beloved of the opponents.
They typically follow a lateral strategy of communication, which encompasses a multitude of activities not restricted to “media”, a particular misnomer positing the notion of between for a largely one-way process – a linear process re-inforcing the techniques of the opponents.
Communication is between i.e. a lateral interactive inclusive process of multi-dimension and multi-participation.
They typically do not use image projection techniques since they understand that doing so gives reign to re-inforcing pre-judgements/prejudices thereby strengthening the opposition.
If you wish to test these hypotheses and their validity then in the first instance refer to various world-wide opinion polls.” – Anonymous
Although what you’ve written sounds plausible, in the real world it doesn’t hold. I’m not sure where you’ve gotten your polls from, but outside of the ‘alternative’ fringe (I’m a bullion dealer so I naturally deal with many of those in the fringe), Russia is viewed very skeptically, especially in the West. Russia has always been a bit of an unknown to many, and that is because Russia does a very poor job of communicating it’s position. I’m not talking about massaging peoples perception in a dishonest way, I’m simply talking about being savvy as regards the media landscape, and packaging your truth in a polished manner.
I’m half Russian, my grandfather was from Siberia, he was the hardest and most no nonsense person I’ve ever known, he was the prototype of the hard headed Russian. In a way I view Russians through the lens he created, and from my experience Russians tend to eschew what they believe to be superfluous, and in many respects what other people think of them is considered superfluous.
The trouble with the lack of concern as to what others think is that global perception is manipulated by the kabalistic ‘wizards’ who create a false landscape for humanity. These ‘wizards’ have studied the human psychology for eons, they are masters of deception and sleight of hand, and time and time again they subvert societies to their ends. If Russia does not overcome its naivete as regards its role as a purveyor of truth in an increasingly confused technological society they will be overwhelmed by the onslaught of atheism, nihilism and satanic inspired trans-humanism.
Russia must speak, and speak clearly in the future, they must hone their skills of communication so the world can hear them. They face the barrier of English being the language of world trade, they face the barrier of being considered other than European, they face the barrier of being branded a corrupt people, and they face the barrier of being the new bogeyman in a future false flag event.
Russia’s handling of the MH17 events has been a debacle IMO, more needs to be done in this respect, regardless of whether Russia has the ‘moral high ground’ or not.
Won’t matter if the rouble is gold-backed if it’s still under IMF control thru the CBR obeying the rules of Russia’s IMF membership. Russia needs to issue more roubles– for investment, but under IMF rules only the CBR can do that. That’s what Starikov says and he backs it up w quotes on the law which governs the CBR.
If you don’t want to read Starikov’s online book, you might have time to read this article about Starikov’s position:

I must say the ‘cd’ is very annoying, it actually slows me down rather than speeds me up :)
I do agree with you in many respects, however the production values of such revelations matter, humans use imagery to a very pronounced degree and for better or worse we are impressed by images to a large extent. I find it interesting that so few recognize this fact, and how important presentation is to the overall outcome, whether it be a business proposal, meeting with delegates, or a job interview, your appearance, manner, and cadence carry a message that either compounds the underlying message (the proposal, etc..) or diminishes it. In the same way, information and how it is presented will affect how people perceive the content, the ‘package’ or presentation influences their receptivity, it all happens quite subconsciously.
As regards RT, I think RT is largely fluff, and even though I’ve enjoyed a book or two of his Thom Hartmann has his own show? RT throws in the odd bone to chew on, but on the whole they walk a precarious line, talking the wrong talk, on matters that determine the life and death of states, like “9-11”, would have the station removed from many countries as being subversive and dangerous. So I understand the fine line, however beyond the omission of truth I can’t help but find the hosts (especially the ‘Barbie’ like one) distracting and out of place. What is with all the ‘hot chicks’ presenting the news? Is the news itself not enough to garner my attention? They’ve taken it to a new level of absurd. The news anchors can’t seem to quite get it down, and seem disinterested and even distracted. It’s really a weird kind of production overall, and though many like all the things I mentioned above (hot chicks,Thom Hartmann, awkward hosts) the basic western viewer of RT is already ‘alternative’. They are hardly converting the masses.

” Although what you’ve written sounds plausible, in the real world it doesn’t hold.”
Your sentence depends on how you define “the real world”.
As to “holding”, that infers stasis in a laterally dynamic interactive world – communication operates in/on many levels, some of which you are apparently unaware.
Your extrapolations are based on your mapping of what you deem to be “appropriate” methods, “appropriate” audiences, and “appropriate” purposes.
The purpose is to transcend, not to emulate or to re-enforce.
Basing a view upon data from a small sample, which may or may not be restricted to a Siberian grandfather who is possibly no longer alive, is spurious not only as a consequence of sample size but also in failing to failing to perceive possible dynamic interactions through time, also known as change.
Although not omniscient some are aware of the opponents’ “Achilles heels” and consistently monitor, evaluate and make use of these and have done for many years.
If that had not been the case the regime in Russia, Russia itself and world-wide efforts to transcend the present opponents would likely not be at this present conjuncture.
This is a broadcast medium and hence although I have used your designator and part of your previous broadcast as a reference point, this broadcast is not restricted to projecting data towards you.
Your datastream however is useful.
Remember that the sanctions have a purpose: to stop Russia from liberating Novorossia. But the sanctions lose their purpose and thereby their meaning the moment Russia helps to liberate Novorossia+Malorossia+Transniestria. After that moment the only purpose of any sanctions would be to punish Russia and Putin for not having obeyed the west, just like small children, and I think it would be difficult for many european countries to continue the sanctions for that purpose. Putin has the chance to become one of the greatest Russian leaders like Peter I, Kutuzov or Zjukov or risk to be a traitor and catastrophe like Jeltsin. And he has not too much time to decide how we will be remembered by Russia and history. There will not be “business as usual” with the west after this crisis, because Putin has shown that he does not want to submit to the west. If he fails to liberate Novorossia, Russia too will be attacked by the enemy (“our partners”). So there is actually only one way: liberty for Novorossia (all eight oblasts) and Malorossia too. The defence of Russia starts in Novorossia!

Neither Russia nor China export their gold, the PBOC buy ‘cheap’ foreign gold on the open market.
While their internal system imports from Switzerland and UK loco London.
All gold imported to China or sold on the the Shanghai Gold Exchange must be certified as 99.9% fine or melted as scrap and re-assayed.
The Russian central bank holdings are separate from the RF state investment fund.
The IMF/’central bank of Russia’ does not control the mining output of gold mines, anymore than it controls output of Thorium or Platinum or Uranium.
To work around US/IMF restrictions the RF have set up a shadow funding system,it works for now!. but not enough for real growth.
