Ecuador receives $4.2 billion IMF loan weeks before Julian Assange arrest …

Yes, it received another IMF loan. I suspect it will turn out to be the proverbial rope with which the Ecuadorian government will hang itself.

In this Crosstalk, Joe Lauria says the case against Julian Assange is very weak and the DOJ only managed to charge him for trying to crack a password which carries maximum penalty of 5 years.

But Kim Dot Com, who was fighting his own extradition to the US, says it’s all a ruse:
“the maximum 5 year sentence hanging over Julian Assange for computer hacking is a trick designed to fool him into agreeing to extradition, only to be hit with far bigger charges when he arrives in America.”

      “Collateral Murder”
      https://collateralmurder.wikileaks.org/

The classified video showing US helicopters killing civilians on the streets of Baghdad. A Reuters TV crew arrives, and is likewise murdered. Finally a van with a family in it stops and tried to perform an act of decency by aiding a wounded person on the sidewalk, and the US helicopters open fire on this family.

And of course, there is the question of why was this ever classified? There was no legitimate reason. It reveals no plans for coming operations. It reveals no undercover agents or informants. It was only classified because the video proof of war crimes was bad PR for the US military so they tried to hide this away.

  3. H. Giraud on April 11, 2019  ·  at 8:56 pm EST/EDT

As finally disclosed in 11 April 2019 article http://www.unz.com/akarlin/assange-betrayed/ ,
in August of 2012 Assange did request asylum at the Russian embassy in London – but was flatly rebuffed by the Kremlin’s very top (Putin had already assumed the presidency of Russia, three months prior)! Thus, the Ecuadorian embassy was the only option left to him, as risky as it was and as fatal as it turned out to be.

The article carefully explains why refuge at the Russian embassy would have been the only safe one for Assange, and then speculates as of the true reasons for Putin’s rebuff. One interpretation, put forth by Israel Shamir, was that Russians were suspicious that Assange was not “for real”, that he was in fact a CIA trap, and were extremely hesitant to have anything to do with him. While another, quite plausible interpretation was put forth by the article’s author:

“… … perhaps the real explanation is more banal.

Putin, like many in the Russian elite, had started off as an Anglophile, and his strongest relationship with a Western leader during the early years of his rule was with Tony Blair. The Litvinenko Affair and the South Ossetian War had certainly soured relations with the West in general, and Britain in particular, but not in a way that appeared hopeless and permanent, as has increasingly seemed to be the case since 2014. There were hopes that things would go back to normality, and I can only assume that Putin didn’t want to set himself up a headache for the next few years, if not decades.

I suppose he sort of failed at that. [ http://www.unz.com/akarlin/new-peak-in-us-russophobia/ ]

For his part, Assange will have to place his hopes on the British judicial system and its political independence. … …”

    • vot tak on April 11, 2019  ·  at 11:04 pm EST/EDT

      From the karlin article referenced:

“Well, more fool me. Julian Assange did try to claim asylum with Russia.

Only problem was: He was refused.

This would be unambiguously confirmed to me several years later by a source who must remain anonymous, but who was in a consummately first hand position to know those details. Russian diplomatic officials were apparently not happy with the decision, but the order was clear and it came from the highest levels of the Russian government. A few months ago, a senior Russia-based journalist who has excellent access to the Kremlin elites told me he heard the same.”

Another of those all knowing “anonymous” sources the zionazi-gay psywar operatives use to “legitimatize” their smearing and lies. This karlin has about as much credibility as the guardian, rush limbaugh, and the israeli idf spokes critters.

      • Richard on April 12, 2019  ·  at 1:00 am EST/EDT

Yes, indeed, I agree, it would be ideed better if Anatoly Karlin did disclose the name of the particular source (person) who provided him with the information. Although, even if he did, we still would be left without an absolute knowledge whether that source in turn is telling the truth. And so on and on. Hardly anything would do in an absolute sense, short of a printed public document of some kind, perhaps, no?

May we now ask you a question. On what specific facts and evidence do you base your assertion that Anatoly Karlin “has about as much credibility as the [G]uardian, [R]ush [L]imbaugh, and the [I]sraeli [IDF] spokes critters” (and other such specimens of your language, whatever their meaning)? If you can provide any, we all could learn something from you. However, if you cannot, it would mean that you are simply making an irresponsible innuendo against an esteemed writer from Unz Review, a respectable publication where our Saker writes too.

        Thank you.

        • FB on April 14, 2019  ·  at 8:11 pm EST/EDT

Karlin an ‘esteemed’ writer…?…he is a petty liar and fabricator…Israel Shamir in his article from yesterday on Unz, makes clear that Assange never even considered going to Russia or asking for Russian asylum…Shamir and Assange are very close, so Shamir’s word on this can be considered authoritative…

    • Serg on April 12, 2019  ·  at 5:19 am EST/EDT

It sounds believable, from what I know about the Russian government, they are no friends of whistleblowers. Western clowns like to pretend that Russia is out to get them and is focused solely on bringing down the empire, but that has never been the goal of the Russian government under Putin. They would like to coexist as equals, which is unacceptable to people with actual hegemonic ambitions. Thus, they don’t jump at the chance to help enemies of the empire to further their own goals of hegemony, because they have no goals of hegemony in need of furthering in the first place. Not to mention help someone who incidentally also revealed many documents from Russia they would have liked to remain hidden as well, taking him in would carry the risk of more breaches and unwanted revelations. Remember that they only reluctantly granted Snowdon staying rights, no full asylum mind you, after letting him sit at the airport for a lengthy period of time.

Putin is also on record saying that he thinks Snowdon did not do the right thing, or at least not in the right way, one of the few key things I disagree with Putin on.

It’s not difficult to imagine that the Russians have rebuffed him, but I think at the very least they would have granted him staying rights in the embassy while they investigate his case, which makes it less likely that this claim is true, in my opinion. Assange was on the run while Snowdon was in a “safe” location while they could go through the paperwork, so at the very least, Assange would probably have been granted entry, but from what I know and I admit I am not an expert on the details of his case, he never tried to enter the Russian embassy.

      • vot tak on April 12, 2019  ·  at 9:53 am EST/EDT

        S

A lot of things sound believable, but that doesn’t make them factual. Here is what Assange had to say himself about whether he considered seeking asylum in Russia.

Assange Wouldn’t Apply for Asylum in Russia Due to Political Situation

        https://sputniknews.com/europe/201710311058679050-assange-wont-asylum-russia-political-situation/

“WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange told Russian journalist Vladimir Pozner in an interview that he was considering the possibility of applying for asylum in Russia, but later renounced the idea since Western media could have used that against him as the political situation remains tense.

Assange explained that even though he shared similar political views with former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden, who received a residence permit in Russia after leaking classified documents pertaining to mass surveillance practices by US authorities, he decided that it was wiser to stay in a country that is not a political opponent to the West, such as Ecuador.”

I think Assange has a better understanding of his own actions than some anti-Russian propagandist named karlin does. It’s clear, by claiming he has an “anonymous” secret source, that karlin is lying about Assange seeking asylum in Russia.

        • Serbian girl on April 12, 2019  ·  at 10:47 am EST/EDT

Don’t forget he bonded with Rafael Correa during an interview when he was doing the Julian Assange show just before he fled into the Ecuador embassy. The two of them got along. I think it was partly a personal decision i.e. he was not just asking Ecuador he was asking Rafael Correa, whom he knew…

        • Serg on April 12, 2019  ·  at 1:48 pm EST/EDT

Yes, and there is that. Though Assange may have given an overly diplomatic answer as to why he didn’t want to go to Russia, because his logic is very flawed on this. Any country he would be considered “safe” in is automatically a political opponent to the West. He is, in political circles, more famous than any Hollywood starlet, there is no such thing as hiding for him with NATO gunning for his shiny white scalp, therefore his location would, most likely, always be known no matter where he went. Which means, the only country he would actually be safe in would be a country who can stand up to the West, like Russia, and at this point in time perhaps only Russia. They do not bow to Western demands, they do not succumb to neither threats nor bribery from Washington.

The Russians would also have had the means and clout to extract Assange from an embassy located in the heart of London, so he would not have been holed up in one single building for so many years. Despite their bellicose and hawkish rhetoric, there isn’t actually anyone in the West with the balls to attack a Russian diplomatic vehicle carrying Assange, they are all bark and no bite, like that pathetic little joke of a boy posing as the British defence minister.

Though that is all speculation on my part of course, who knows if the Russians would actually go this far for a guy who embarrassed them with document publications as well. But that is all meaningless now, since he chose a different path. My guess is, despite his knowledge and despite his insight, there is at least a part of him poisoned by the decades of anti-Russian propaganda and he has a deep seeded animosity towards Russia, like most Westerners, so he didn’t want to choose Russia, even if he had the option.

          @ vot tak

Karlin is not anti-Russian, by any stretch. In fact, he is well-known for his strong Russian *nationalistic* views, to the point that the Zionists, both at home and abroad, have labeled him as “extreme right” and “antisemitic”.

(Check, for instance, the favourite Zionist “RationalWiki” site, https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Anatoly_Karlin , which says: “Anatoly Karlin is a Russian alt-right, white nationalist, anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist blogger who promotes racialist pseudoscience. He writes for The Unz Review and has his works reprinted … … …”)

Keep in mind that being anti-Russian, and not being an unquestioning blind follower of Putin and his policies, are two entirely different things. If you do follow the Russian *domestic* media – their excellent televised public discussions and other programs – you must be acutely aware of this fact.

I don’t know whether you speak Russian or not, but this is indeed a must, since the English language Russian government official outlets “RT” and “Sputnik” are not providing a full, unskewed picture of the Russian political life, not even close. It seems that these two sites are more interested in attracting poorly educated western youth with various cheap items (including obligatory soft-pornographic pictures) than providing insights into serious political issues.

          • vot tak on April 13, 2019  ·  at 12:16 am EST/EDT

Nice try, but trying to smear Russia as he did with that nonsense about Assange seeking Russian asylum is the work of an anti-Russian. He can make whatever claims he wants abiut his motivations, and propaganda sites like the wikiwahoo one you linked can do likewise, but his actions are betray him. The zionazi-gay psywar machine uses people pretending to represent every political spectrum, from left to right, in their work. Some are quite convincing, some are not.

” “RT” and “Sputnik” are not providing a full, unskewed picture of the Russian political life, not even close. It seems that these two sites are more interested in attracting poorly educated western youth with various cheap items (including obligatory soft-pornographic pictures) than providing insights into serious political issues.”

That says more about yourself than it does RT and Sputnik.

      Dear H. Giraud,

That last line in your comment was a doozy:

For his part, Assange will have to place his hopes on the British judicial system and its political independence. … …

As I lay there reading your post, when I got to that last sentence ((highlighted above)), I found myself rolling on my bed laughing uncontrollably. The British judicial system having political independence is about as genuine as Britain’s banana-republic-esque sham democracy. No judiciary in the anglosphere is independent or even remotely free of political interference: all are corrupt and very vulnerable to the latest political hysteria (me-too, gun control, the Red scare, etc), societal fad of “liberal” extremists (aka cultural Marxists), or geopolitical imperative of the Empire.

      • Anonymous on April 12, 2019  ·  at 10:25 pm EST/EDT

        Yes, you are fully right.

That last line which you mention is a quote from the original article ( http://www.unz.com/akarlin/assange-betrayed/ ) – where it is in fact linked to the following Twitter message:

“Brexit is bad for Assange. UK shorn from EU will have major incentives to please the US.” https://twitter.com/akarlin88/status/1114135078152626176

  4. Larchmonter445 on April 12, 2019  ·  at 10:11 am EST/EDT

Putin, KGB colonel and FSB director, might have some basis for his decision.

    Just a wild guess from me . . .

Assange and Wikileaks have never served the interests of the Russian Federation, so why should Russia be the sanctuary for him or it?

And why subject your embassy to such intense scrutiny?

Look what has happened to Russian consulates in the US. The UK would have done worse to Russian Federation assets in UK.

Assange failed to plan his own egress from capture.

He loved the limelight and it has cost him his seven years of imprisonment and, soon, most of the rest of his life if he is extradited. The US will bury him in Federal custody until he is dead.

If he has anything in those Vaults of use to leverage his freedom, he needs to use it.

Personally, I think he should be a free man. However, I don’t get to decide. He decided years ago to taunt fate.
    It has cost him dearly.

    Sad day indeed!

I’d like to remind those who want to view “age restricted” vids on YT there is a trick to circumvent this wall.

Insert [nsfw] (No Suitable Foot Watching) like this /nsfwyoutube.com

To capture those vids for archiving (highly recommend practice) try KeepVid app, works well on Android and I think they have it for PC as well.

    Just saying

Anonymous Issues Chilling Threat to ‘Enemies of People’ Over Assange’s Arrest

    https://sputniknews.com/world/201904121074065121-anonymous-hackers-assange-arrest/

“The whistleblowing website has criticised Ecuador’s move, calling it a violation of international law.

“Let Assange free or you will pay!” — this is the stark warning that has been issued by the hacker group Anonymous to the “captors” of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who was arrested on 11 April at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London by UK police “on behalf of the United States authorities”.

“This is a message for the UK government and their cohorts around the world who are working to silence whistleblowers. […] This arrest and the greater persecution of Wikileaks and other whistleblowers sends a clear message that these governments will stop at nothing to maintain their secrecy. […]”, the hacktivists wrote.

“Influential people representing the governments of the UK, the United States, and Ecuador have all signed off on this unprecedented attack on journalism. […] Every single powerful person who has signed off on this order should be shaking in their boots, because the force of the internet is about to be unleashed upon them. All the way from the CIA, the President of the United States, and down to the arresting officers that carried Assange out of the embassy, you have all exposed yourselves as enemies of the people and it is time for Anonymous to act accordingly”, the group warned.”

But will Anonymous actually act on this?

  7. Strike on April 12, 2019  ·  at 12:57 pm EST/EDT

As of today, I announce a BDS, boycott and disinvestment, of any and all ‘media’, ‘news’, ‘bloggers’ who do not stand up firmly in defense of Julian Assange and denounce this open attack on press freedom. This is a litmus test type of issue, any who do not stand with Assange can not be trusted and are obviously only the sock puppets of the oligarchs and the deep state. They must not be supported in any way, remembering that even visiting their webpages puts advertiser money into their corrupt bank accounts.

  8. Tony_0pmoc on April 12, 2019  ·  at 5:32 pm EST/EDT

(Removed – your first sentence was incorrect and didn’t make sense. Mod.)….Saker wasn’t that wrong about our British Government (do you want some more London bandwith mate?) Tom Feeley (Information Clearing House) has moved to Iceland and he is an American.

I didn’t vote for any of them except Jeremy Corbyn. (once) who was the only senior member of The House of Commons, to show his complete disgust at The British Government with regards to the arrest of Julian Assange…

I don’t care what if any organisation Julian Assange, may or may not have been working for in his youth, and may be even working for now. I think I have read most of the stories, and some of them I know are true ( I did at the time read the Swedish tweets – from the 2 girls, which were also published in Aftonbladet (the equivalent of The Sun during the invite to the next party) “Think pretty blonde girl – sheer delight -He’s staying at my place – we’ve arranged a BBQ for him”

I know about all that, and I know that he has still not been charged with any offence, except skipping bail.

I don’t care if he is or was a spy. It’s quite obviously a hazardous occupation, and I think it extremely likely that he is now being thrown to the wolves, and may not survive it.

At the end of the day, he is a human being who has displayed great courage and integrity, at revealing the most despicable war crimes.

What I find really depressing and upsetting, is not the MSM. It’s obvious they were all long ago bought and paid for by the war criminals.

It is the performance of our British Members of Paliament and our English Judiciary – not just on Assange, but on BREXIT too.

It is as if, I in England, am living in NAZI Germany in 1939 or the USSR during the Trotsky or Stalin purges.

I never thought it would come to this.

    But here we are.

“If you tolerate this, then your children will be next.”
