Note by the Saker: I hesitated before posting this video. Not only do I not share Dugin’s ideas, I also hesitate to contribute to the absolutely false myth that he is some kind of “special advisor” or “personal friend” of Vladimir Putin. This is all nonsense. In reality, Putin has done more than any other person to deflate and marginalize the kind of National-Bolshevik nationalist ideology Dugin represents in modern Russia. Putin did so because he fully understand how dangerous such an ideology is for Russia. Putin is a patriot, but not a nationalist – the difference is huge.
What is true is that Dugin is a very smart man and, frankly, I largely agree with his analysis of the situation of the “normal” (non-elite) American people though I don’t believe that the USA is ripe for a revolution, not yet. Still, I think that he makes many very good points and that a “Russian outlook” on this election is interesting.
Thanks to ‘S’ for drawing my attention to this video.
The Saker
A couple of points here. First,I think everything he said was correct. Second,he has a nice knowledge of English. I dare say much better than almost every US official would have of Russian. But his accent is so thick it is hard for an English speaker to understand it clearly. I think if I was advising him it would be to get someone else to do the talking on these videos. And just have the video go to him for important quotes.
As to the presentation in the video. Yes,a revolution (in the future) is possible. But its not ready yet (sadly). I don’t think he was saying it was either. I didn’t get that from the video. As for Trump and Sanders. I too believe that they are the “real” voices of the people in the US. And I also believe as he does, that is why the elite wants them silenced.
In my case, it is precisely his thick accent what allows me understand quite well what he is saying.
And, if it is the case for me, I think it will be also for Russians, whom I think is his targeted audience.
I think his main purpose is to be understood by a large non native English audience ( that is why they also are printing in the screen the most important he is saying at the same pace he is talking, for all not losing detail ) i.e. Russian people, and do not discard other large audiences also, like Spanish speaking people. He has been several times in Spain giving lectures/inteviews, and I think that he also speaks Spanish if I am not wrong.
The other day I also posted a link to another episode of this Dugin´s Guideline on Breedlove statements in the Moveable Feast Cafe. Quite funny, indeed.
I would like to know if the site where they publish this Dugin´s Guideline, Katehon, is about the same ideology of Dugin himself. I found this site some time ago, through a link in Fort Russ and they have very good analysis in geopolitics, IMO.
Exactly, and by printing his words on the screen, he reaches the entire non-native English speaking world. Otherwise, many will be lost listening to the MSM in English, who have no interest in reaching anyone other than extremely jaded Americans. Must check out the Breedlove link for entertainment, thank you.
Is this really Dugin? Why does he speak English and whom does he want to reach with this video?
I don’t see any how English-speakers are interested in a Russian nationalist philosopher like Dugin.
This video looks like it’s own satire.
“There are none so blind as those who will not see.”
“Attributed to John Heywood, the 16th century English playwright and poet, this proverb has echoed down the generations. Based on the premise that the most deluded people are those who choose to ignore what they know to be the case”
The above is just a copy and paste. I was quite interested in what he had to say.
“This video looks like it’s own satire.”
Exactly. At times it sounds like the same blocks of jargon I have seen in some of his writing, just rearranged.
Is rearranging Imhotep to RudyM a satire or not?
Since at elast Andrew Jackson, we have been lied to continuously by our politicians. Yesterday, Trump called Cruz a liar, no words minced. Through all the lies over all the years, I have never heard a politico call a colleague a liar; it was refreshing to hear.
“it was refreshing to hear.”
Not really.
It would have been refreshing if Cruz had replied in exactly the same fashion re Trump’s deflection for the perpetrators of 911 as being:
“it wasn’t the Iraqis – you may well find it was the Saudis”
They are the same – having fun playing their game.
Trump’s relationship with the truth is essentially random, so there are plenty of times someone would have a chance to call him out on a lie. But 9/11 really was mostly Saudis and it really wasn’t Iraqis, so what’s your point?
But 9/11 really was mostly Saudis and it really wasn’t Iraqis, so what’s your point?
That, in my opinion, you’re wrong.

“Trump says if he is elected: “you will find out who really knocked down the World Trade Center.”
“It wasn’t the Iraqis,” he explained. “You may find it’s the Saudis.”
“They have papers in there that are very secret,” he also said, referencing the 28 still-classified pages of the 9/11 commission report. “But you will find out.”
Well, since he already knows the secret (who it wasn’t) then he sure as hell knows who it was…i’m imagine you watched already https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bubrZqLi_Sw but didn’t dwell: starting at 1:28:50 then at 1:30:05:
according to USATODAY in 1999 the American Airforce conducted special exercises 4 times per year in which the hijacking of civil airplanes by terrorists was simulated, the selected targets were the twin towers and the pentagon immediately followed by footage of Rice and Bush saying:
“I don’t think anybody could have predicted that they would use an airplane as a missile – a hijacked airplane – as a missile…”
The relevant section ends at 1:31:13. Flukes like this don’t happen – the deep state are all over it and therefore Trumps attempted deflection is utterly deceitful.
Apologies, PLG but a bit more bluntly – the Saudis (& Bin Laden)?
my ass:
http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-military-drills-of-september-11th-why-a-new-investigation-is-needed/6906
“…[]…The Pre 9/11 Military Training Drills: Though neither the White House nor the FBI had envisaged planes as weapons, the military, supposedly adrift from its government and bereft of communication –no small feat with a 2001 budget of over $400 billion — had.”
No matter what conspiracy we buy, we can be pretty definite Iraq and Saddam Hussein were not involved, which was the main point of the Trump statement. And, if one accepts the generally agreed-on facts of the case, 15 of the 9/11 individuals taking over the planes were Saudis. Osama bin Laden was also Saudi, from a rich influential Saudi family.
As to truther stuff . . . I can buy the idea that there was some kind of US conspiracy involved somewhere, I just wish the conspiracies people went with weren’t typically so fiddly and unnecessary. That is, it is vanishingly unlikely that planes were not genuinely hijacked and rammed into some towers and the Pentagon, with genuine travellers on board those planes going to their deaths. And it’s pretty likely that the people that were purported to have done it were in fact the people personally on board those planes, and that they were passionate believers in Islam who hated the United States. After all, there are plenty of real people like that, and we know that Saudi Arabia really does bankroll Salafi extremism and terrorist groups. Osama bin Laden was a real man who really seems to have had a strategy for which something like 9/11 would be a useful tactical blow. Indeed, his strategy has worked and continues to work even now that he is dead. And if the Americans were making it up, they would not have been able to resist making the supposed terrorists more convenient in their identities–there would have been some Iranians and/or Iraqis, maybe a Syrian, maybe someone from Hezbollah, like that. Them being mostly Saudis has actually been a significant PR problem for the Americans over the years.
When it comes to just how they were directed, influenced and enabled to be there, and just who knew roughly what was going to happen and when, that’s where conspiratorial questions become more interesting. We know there was a faction in the White House (the PNAC guys, at least, and likely others) that welcomed the idea of a “Pearl Harbor” type attack against the US to unleash more aggressive US foreign and police-state policy. I’d say a maximal interpretation would be, some of those guys cooked the thing up with Osama or some similar people, with each considering themselves to be using the other. My minimum is something like “Some intelligence groups got wind of the idea that someone was going to do something big with planes, and decided to stay out of the way.” But the notion that the Americans did the whole job themselves in some way and set up elaborate fictions, rather than simply getting some real jihadists to do it, strikes me as dim. How many CIA quislings would be willing to commit suicide to accomplish a murky US elite cabal’s foreign policy goal? How many people would have to know about such a complicated project? Way better and simpler to use real jihadists. Way, way better deniability; the best lie is always a partial truth. So a few hundred US citizens die in planes in the process–like they care.
“And, if one accepts the generally agreed-on facts of the case, 15 of the 9/11 individuals taking over the planes were Saudis.”
Whatever they are – sorry, I didn’t continue past that.
http://www.globalresearch.ca/what-happened-on-the-planes-on-september-11-2001-the-911-commission-script-was-fabricated/5428771
“Concluding Remarks
A large part of the description, regarding the 19 hijackers relies on cell phone conversations with family and friends.
While a few of these calls (placed at low altitude) could have got through, the wireless technology was not available. On this issue, expert opinion within the wireless telecom industry is unequivocal.
In other words, at least part of the Commission’s script in Chapter 1 on the cell phone conversations, is fabricated.
According to the American Airline / Qualcomm [2004] announcement, the technology for cell phone transmission at high altitude will only be available aboard commercial aircraft in 2006. This is an inescapable fact.
In the eyes of public opinion, the cell phone conversations on the Arab hijackers is needed to sustain the illusion that America is under attack.
The “war on terrorism” underlying the National Security doctrine relies on real time “evidence” concerning the Arab hijackers. The latter personify, so to speak, this illusive “outside enemy” (Al Qaeda), which is threatening the homeland.”
Embodied into the Commission’s “script” of 911, the narrative of what happened on the plane with the Arab hijackers is therefore crucial. It is an integral part of the Administration’s disinformation and propaganda program. It constitutes a justification for the anti-terror legislation under the Patriot acts and the waging of America’s pre-emptive wars against Afghanistan and Iraq.”
You there Elsi?
53 minutes and a very good discussion. Highly recommended.
Like Saker I find myself agreeing with most of Dugin’s analysis, except his conclusions. Fourth political theory delivers us into the clutches of the same nihilistic, atheistic and individualist self centredness that Dugin correctly sees as our disaster.
Concerning jabs thrown at communists, liberals, zionists, libertarians, etc. — all Western ideologies accept our civilizational turn towards hyper individualism and away from God. The result is a culture of inversion. Next time you listen to a news report from BBC and marvel at the way black becomes white and up becomes down, consider the source and ask yourself if you would accept these inversions on behalf of Comrade Stalin. If you are a Stalinist then by definition you would.
I reject the idea that we are the body and must only decide if our brain should be Hitler, Stalin, Bakhunin, Mao, Heidegger or Donald J. Trump. This is the source of my pleading to be left out of your best laid plans.
The Liberal American World Order: Prof. Alexander Dugin on JaysAnalysis

An excellent presentation, in fact, a far better one than any given on this particular topic by anyone on either the Vineyard of the Saker or Russia Insider, not to mention other English language blogs. I would not dismiss Dr. Dugin by any ad hominem epithets, especially not ones that are not even remotely related to his positions. As for Dr. Dugin vs. Putin, one can hardly compare the two in a substantive way, even disregarding the fact that one is an accomplished academic and a scholar, while the other one is not.
There is a number of interesting Dugin’s video presentations in English from the same series “Dugin’s Guideline” as the one above, see https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Dugin%27s+Guideline
And there are many more such in Russian, under “Директива Дугина”.
—
P.S. Unfortunately, many English language sources on Dugin which one finds on the web are tainted by Western propaganda and thus not reliable. (If they hate Putin, they hate Dugin twice as much – one of the rare instances of a meaningful comparison between them, I suppose.) If you speak Russian, the situation is of course quite different, search under Александр Дугин on yandex.ru .
Comrade Sergey, thanks for the link to the other Dugin´s Guidelines, to me he seems like a smart and witty man, and it is really enjoyable for me the way he has to say things bluntly, in fact, the same style which dazzled me when I found the first article where The Saker was expressing his opinion about the events in the Ukraine.
You see, I enjoy more with this than with shopping, and I’d love to know the Russian language and have the time and money enough to study with him, despite my Communist ideas, because, as I understand, he has never spoken of eliminate/eradicate the Communists, but has a much more conciliatory way of thinking than some other ideologies who clasified him as nationalist and that, in my view, are so nationalistic or more than him.
It seems an excellent teacher, for the so well he synthesizes and explains the concepts and ideas, and also seems able to enjoy a good discussion, even challenging to his ideas, perhaps hours long, as would happen to anyone who always has good arguments at hand.
I have understood that he was in charge of a Faculty of Political Sciences in a renowned Moscow University, but now not any more.
If I am not wrong his ideas are these ones:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasianism
I have bookmarked his “Fourth Political Theory”, but for lack of time still have not read it. The truth is that he is very prolific in writings and lectures, not enough time to read everything he writes and write everybody else. Obviously, must be selected some here and some there, the day has only 24 hours and you must also eat and sleep in addition to working outside home and also inside ( ie those who do not have domestic service ).
Another interesting analysis by Alexander Dugin:
Dugin: What is wrong with Europe?
http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/03/dugin-what-is-wrong-with-europe.html
@ elsi
Thank you for Dugin’s fresh article. A solid analysis.
Is there an equivalent for “what is wrong with Rossiya”?
“This is first interesting American election.” No kidding!
Trump won big today. Sanders, not much, but there are a bunch of western states coming up next round that are not, to say the least, enamored of any Clinton.
I personally don’t mind the presenter’s accent a bit; if only as many US citizens could speak _any_ foreign language with such skill. Dugin doesn’t have fluency but so what. I’m still trying to get my head around Cyrillic! That’s the thing with foreign languages… fluency is nice but you don’t have to have it to get the feel of a language. I am thrilled to learn the Russians are watching the “Super Tuesdays” as much as I am. Very, very interesting times. NPR (it was easy to find on the dial) was trying to disparage Trump, but he is a seasoned television performer and came off quite charming in his speech tonight.
Btw, Saker, the German Saker site is excellent and very interesting. How great, to have lived in the deserts of the SW US for a lifetime and learned German. Spanish is more a priority these days but I do enjoy reading German stuff and it seems you have an excellent team over there. I encourage everyone to check out all the other Saker blogs. The German blog is almost as active as this one, and I remembered East Germany and put the puzzle together. Some of the coolest people I met in Berlin in 1992 were east German Ossies to the core, no sh(te. Prost.
Dugin is “rumoured” to be also known as putiin’s brain. i do not believe someone has said such a tinkg in an official capacity.
Dear Saker,
your introduction regarding “Dugin vs Putin” (to put it simple) caugth my eye, so allow me to post here a part of an comment I wrote to “Larchmonter445”, some time ago:
[…]
Dugin and Putin are a team. Maybe a real team. Maybe a virtual one. Maybe unintentional by them two, but nevertheless positioned to function as a team. Positioned simply by incident or by “higher design”.
Why a team? Look clearly: Dugin defines the “Geopolitical Game”. Putin plays it. But hold on, I have to correct myself: Dugin, by his own words, don’t define the geopolitical Game, because this “Game” is already defined by the sea based Empire and forced upon the Heartland, Russia. Because of the dominant power of the Empire, they are able to force this game on Russia. Russia has, in Dugins view, the only chance in recognizing this game, become conscious of her role in this game and play well her part.
So Dugins role is to spread consciousness nationally and internationally regarding this game and to show Russia’s role in it. He gives the metaphorical ideology, which would motivate and drive Russians to fight for this idea. “There has to be something much bigger, then you and me. Something, which is worth dying for it. A great idea”.
Putin is following exactly this Matrix. But of course he is confronted with “Realpolitik”. And he is excellent in this. It is Putins job, to calculate the “WHEN”. When to do which step which fits in the “Eurasian Matrix”. It is also Putins job to define the “HOW”. And maybe sometimes, he has to do tactical moves, which seems to contradict or even betray the great strategy, but it’s only tactics, paying tribute to the circumstances.
Dugin is communicating the idea (Eurasia), Putin is building it on the ground. Their differences are the ones between an architect and a construction manager. Deriving from this, their contradictions are explainable: Dugin is in the realm of metaphysical ideas, where already in the beginning, you can talk about the end or the final cause. “Putin on the ground”, dealing with facts and having to implement the idea, would out of opportunism deny the final cause, to be able to achive it with less resistance form the opponent.

“I also hesitate to contribute to the absolutely false myth that he is some kind of “special advisor” or “personal friend” of Vladimir Putin. This is all nonsense” (=The thought of the good analyst Saker)
Then the following article is “it’s all nonsense”:

With all due respect I think at this point the Saker is wrong.
Melan Faos
Dugin is certainly correct in this analysis. I live this tension between social factions everyday at my job. Yet the plurality of Americans who have not bought one of these paradigms have no voice in the media, no representation in government, and when we give voice to our views are viciously silenced by the fanatic partisans.
If anything, we should understand this reference to a revolution in terms of the U.S being set up to be “Arab Springed” or “Maidaned”. And from I can see it will be sooner than later.
It is not just the people who are divided. The rise of Trump clearly demonstrates that there are some in the bowels of the Deep State dissatisfied with the Globalist agenda, and they maintain enough influence to keep him in the limelight. These would be the same sort of intelligence and military cadre that shepharded Putin to power. So the question becomes, how much of the security apparatus will side with them if Trump wins, and how much support will they have to resist if Clinton wins?
The globalist elites have a “home game” and an “away game.” The home game (in the West) is political correctness, anti-Christianity, anti-whiteness, open borders, forced diversity, attacks on the family, and degeneracy of all sorts. The away game (in the non-West) is war, neo-liberal privatization, and coup d’etats. The main job of the left in America is to carry out the home game while the right pretends to oppose them. The main job of the right in America is to carry out the away game while the left pretends to oppose them.
A Donald Trump Presidency would disrupt both games and threatened the globalist team’s agenda of global government (with them at the top of the pyramid).
Franklin Roosevelt, we hear, pointed out to critics that far from being a revolutionary he prevented revolution and saved the capitalist class in the US.
Then the US was on the cusp of revolution, FDR “threw the people a bone”. It was enough.
Now the “bone” is gone, taken away.
Trump promises to give it back…
Seen this way Trump is offering stability, not revolution.
Dugin has an agenda and is using his commentary and faux endorsement of Trump to advance it plain and simple. Enough said….
Cooler than cool! Thanks
