Check out this latest “journalistic pearl” from the BBC:
Francois Hollande’s government gave no reason for its decision to stay away |
Neither President Francois Hollande nor any top French official will attend the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia, Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has said. Mr Fabius announced the decision on French radio, but gave no explanation. Last week German President Joachim Gauck also said he was not going to the games in the Black Sea resort of Sochi. Activists have urged leaders to boycott the event over human rights concerns, including a new Russian law banning “homosexual propaganda”. Mr Fabius told Europe 1 radio on Sunday: “Top French officials have no plans to be there.” Mr Gauck announced he would not attend the Sochi games last weekend, but did not elaborate either. European Commission deputy head Viviane Reding has also said she was not attending. Russian President Vladimir Putin has staked his personal prestige on staging a successful Olympics in an effort to showcase his country, analysts say.
Well, I am sure that Putin is heartbroken, he will now go and hug his teddy bear, jump in his bed, and tearfully bawl for a few days. Well, maybe not, but that is the kind of reaction this latest BBC masterpiece of journalism suggest. Putin staked his prestige on Sochi and the homo-fans ain’t coming; ergo – he must be crushed. Right.
Nobody at the BBC could even imagine that Putin would be extremely un-impressed by a political statement by European politicians who don’t even have the courage to openly say why they are not coming! The French “give no reasons” while the Germans “do not elaborate”.
Russia had to deal with all kinds of foes from the West, from the Teutonic Knights to Hitler’s armies and each time Russia won. I very much doubt that anybody in the Kremlin will be impressed by homo-fans who prefer not to explain their reasons for refusing an invitation.
Poor, poor Europe. How low it has fallen. As for the BBC – does anybody still listen to that crap?

The gay movement in W Europe has rightfully gained acceptance for gay rights in many countries, and once a year there is a gay pride parade, which becomes boring after having seen it once. If they want to get married, let them, half of all young straight couples do not anyway! Very uninteresting, the world will keep on turning..
But no one really cares that much about it, until politicians and the media stir this issue up, and prominent figures state they won’t go to Sochi, while they do show up at the demonstrations in Kiev.
All very transparant, but many fall for it
If anyone is aware of good English language video documentaries on the history and politics of the geographical area formerly known as the Soviet Union (or any parts thereof), I’d like to know. It shouldn’t be too superficial. Of course there’s much more written material on whatever topic, especially when going “in-depth”, but I want something to watch when washing the dishes, which tends to leave one or two neurons idle… Btw I don’t care about the quality of production or what particular ideological background that documentary would be coming from, as long as there are interesting facts in it, and not exclusively ideology.
An example for a (non-video) piece of almost exclusively ideological drivel that I’d rather not spend time on: http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2013/12/11/back_in_the_ussr_ukraine_belarus_russia

It seems the degenerated and pervert shame paraders and the Sexuals know´s they are going to have a hard time keeping their pants on during the events and from preying on Russian kids with homosexual propaganda, which this law is about, so in that case yes, they are doing Russia and her kids and their own tarnished reputation a favour by staying home, in an environment much more friendly to such activities. Their pal Jimmie Savile & Co would be proud…

I think that you are confusing apples and oranges here. Apples: homosexuals should be left free to chose their lifestyle by the state and the rest of society, they should not be the object of violence and if they want to live together – fine let them. Oranges: gay pride parades are a *political statement* and homosexual marriages are a *political statement*: this is when homos cross the line and demand that society place an “equal” sign between them and heterosexuals. This is what is unacceptable. That a minority of people clearly suffering from psycho-sexual pathologies would demand that their condition be considered as healthy, as normal, as normative. This is what Putin rightly rejects.

Whatever the nature of a society, a key aspect is its reproduction, both physical and spiritual. Marriage has historically played a rôle at both levels.
At the physical level, a man recognizes as his own the children that his wife will bear, even though (depending on the society), prior to the introduction of widespread birth control, perhaps as many as 20% of children did not have as biological father their official father. At the spiritual level, the bond between man and wife, and within the family that they raise, is recognized and encouraged by the religious authorities of the time.
Marriage between homosexuals does not focus on reproduction, but simply the relationship between the two individuals. If this situation were to change, and there were widespread adoption among gay couples, this would inevitably increase the prevalence of surrogate motherhood, the ultimate form of Third World oppression.
But I still think the approach is misguided: Gay parades are BORING after 5 minutes.
Post modern performance artist in a cathedral can only help falling asleep when having insomnia. There is absolutely NO substance!
I think mild sarcasm, and not paying too much attention is a much better strategy: after all:
Homosexuality is:
-not contagious
-morally and politically neutral unless repressed
-extremely boring to non homosexuals.
The underlying question is if it is an inborn, perhaps genetic trait, or something picked up by the environment/ culture…
I think it it given way too much importance, hyped by BOTH sides, but perhaps we agree to disagree.
I believe the time has come for Mr. Putin to export the Russian model to other countries. I’ve had just about enough of the “west’s” hypocrisy and manipulation of “dissidents” & “human rights”. These things are now just tools and instruments of oppression, there is no promotion of freedom and democracy. I know many on the planet must agree with me.

Rats. Now that the Euro-trash contingent won’t be going to Sochi — am really bummed its not in my travel plans. The cabal is looking for ways to punish Putin — and this is as good as any.
The issue of “gay-marriage” is such a bore. Several years ago my (then) high-school age son commented that discouraging gay marriage or behavior tended to increase homosexual population over time as closeted gays married non-gays and produced children who were more likely to be gay than children of heterosexual couples. He said it was best to let Darwin sort it out through self-selection. Though I’m not sure of the science behind his statement — the reasoning seemed pretty solid. It’s another form of “live and let live”.
The Olympics is at best a loss-leader. Stopped watching years ago. But I’ll watch this year. Cause if Hollande is against it — I’m for it.
What is funny is that the homo-fans think that they would be missed. Infantilism.
@Gay marriage,
People like the advocates of “gay rights” will never think that marriage, in the Christian world-view and society, is a sacrament. Gay sex is equivalent to shitting on sacred objects, is a sacrilege. Not to mention that it is the cause of AIDS.

Saker, Francois Hollande was in Qatar earlier this year with the begging bowl hoping to get further Qatari investments in France. During the visit, he also made this offer:-
“Mr Hollande also said Qatar’s sporting plans – as it gears up to host the footballWorld Cup in 2022 – could benefit from his government’s experience.
As France gets set to host the European football championships in 2016, he invited Qatari officials to observe the preparations and learn from Paris’ experience.
“We can exchange experience for Qatar to have a beautiful World Cup,” he said. “Qatar will need equipment and hotels to prepare – we can co-ordinate a beautiful co-operation.”
In Qatar, as presumably Hollande would know, homosexual acts between men (but not women) are illegal, punishable by up to 3 years in prison. Interesting double standards n’est-ce pas?
